B1538 - Export Finance & Project Investment Bill - Amendment Reading

Due to its length, this Bill can be found here.
Opening Speech
Mr Speaker,
Firstly I want to say that this is a bill that has seen great passion and dedication by my colleagues who have worked relentlessly on contributing in their various areas of specialisation for what is a very esoteric and at times ‘finicky’ topic to address. Nonetheless, the contents of the bill they have produced is one we are proud of as this Government works its way to achieve its goals.
The Export Credit Agency of UK Export Finance has been under-utilised, if not forgotten by previous Governments. This is a key instrument in aiding economic growth and development, especially when productivity is a big drawback on the British economy. Our party made a promise to address the structural challenges to our economy and here we deliver directly to fix that. This bill emboldens our export finance agency to not just provide support to UK exporters, but allows us to finance crucial overseas project investment feeding into our own and global development goals.
Part 1 of this bill deals with the nature of export finance. We move in this part to make sure exporters (suppliers) get the immediate access to finance to spend and reinvest on key capital projects in which that finance would not be available for the likes of 90 to 120 days. Subsequently bringing a continuous and positive growth program that sees market development and improved business connections. By no means is this a form of state aid that grants the competing advantage within an industry regarding the production of goods or services against rivals, but allows for immediate credit and export guarantees through loans and not subsidies.
In regards to SMEs, export finance is undoubtedly an ideal way to help small and medium sized businesses that need the funds but have limited banking facilities and credit history. Key to Conservative policy is that unlocking of economic potential and the core value of equality of opportunity which is why this Government is fully launching itself in support of the backbone of our economy, which are small and medium sized enterprises.
What is key in such a redefining and emboldening of British investment capabilities is our commitment to net-zero and environmental sustainability which is why we will be ending any and all UKEF support for the fossil fuel industry in the coming months. This Government will move to utilise Export Finance and project investment underpinned by said sustainability goals and environmental commitments.
Part 2 of the bill focuses itself on the capabilities for project finance investment. We make thorough provisions that base itself around categorising sector areas (see Schedules 5, 6 and 7) deemed necessary for environmental impact assessments. By ensuring our project finance investments not only comply with environmental and social regulations but are thoroughly assessed for their impact, this Government works towards mutual sustainability goals.
We further go to provide the necessary provisions such as the adoption of the equator principles in the operations of UKEF - in accordance with 116 financial institutions across 37 countries. This is a necessary framework for all forms of financial institutions involved in project finance to ensure the necessary environmental, social and regulatory policy frameworks are in place when supporting global project development. This Government is committed to ensuring that all practices within our financial sector are in accordance with responsible and cooperative management practices. They further go to promote a common framework for global social and environmental standards in which developmental banks and export credit agencies (such as UKEF) increasingly draw on OECD common approaches.
Outlined by various corporations, international organisations and governing bodies, it is understandable that green finance will play a crucial role in global sustainable development and aiding the combat of climate change. The World Economic Forum estimates the value of green finance to reach $2.36 trillion this year in order to meet the needs of environmentalism and economic growth alongside it. Currently the USA and China, lead in this alongside the European Union implementing a green finance plan. Our Export Finance scheme is one that aligns itself with a clean growth strategy that helps further green and sustainable development, not just in Britain but globally. In a globalised world through promoting and facilitating a sustainable development plan in regards to our exports we help contribute to fostering more sustainable economic development internationally and projecting our values on this matter. This Government is proud to bring forward such an achievement in establishing and providing the means to promote and develop the necessary provisions for reaching sustainability in economic growth driven through export.
Amendment A01:
Amend the following Section titles to read:
Section 7: Transactions of Overseas Buyers
Section 8: Definitions
Section 9: Establishment of Project Categorisation
Section 10: Aims of Environmental Impact Assessments
Section 11: Project Environmental Impact Assessments Stipulations
Section 12: Adherence to The Equator Principles
Section 13: Powers of the Secretary of State in Project Investment
Section 14: Sustainable Development
Section 15: Extent, Commencement, and Short Title
EN: There is an accident in the numbering of the Bill as ‘Section 6’ is copied twice by mistake, the second Section 6 really should be Section 7, so this is just reordering the titles following to fit.
This Amendment is moved in the name of u/Hobnob88
Amendment A02:
Amend Section 2: subsection 3 to read:
(3) UK Export Finance’s mission shall be to advance prosperity by promoting UK exports through finance or insurance, adhering to the OECD Arrangement.
Amend Section 4: subsection 2(d) to read:
(d) a requirement that social, environmental, country and human risk due diligence processes are carried out by UKEF and any supporting agencies, in accordance to the OECD Agreement.
Amend Section 5: subsection 4(a) to read:
(a) the Loan Agreement is to require UKEF Supported Exporters to offer overseas buyers a minimum fixed interest rate offer (CIRR) valid for four months, and
Amend Section 5: subsection 4 to include 4(c):
(c) UKEF Supported exporters are to charge no less than the minimum premium rate for credit risk developed by UKEF to cover non-repayment risk.
Amend Section 6: subsection 4 to read:
(4) UK Export Finance is to provide immediate loans of no more than 80% of an individual applicant's owed invoice value, excluding local costs.
Amend Section 7: subsection 1(a) to read:
(a) transfer the remaining invoice value of up to 20% (see Section 6: subsection 4) back to the UKEF Supported Exporter, minus the pre-agreed service fee of Section 5: subsection 4b.
Amend Section 13: subsection 1 to include:
(c) to include UK Export Finance project support (in accordance with the entirety of this Act) within global project development frameworks requiring they too adhere to the Equator Principles.
EN: As the main author of the Bill, I noticed areas to improve greater wording clarity. Furthermore allowing the project investment scheme to be a part of eligible global project development frameworks such as the Blue-Dot-Network, or UN development operations by revising scope and framework adherence.
This Amendment is moved in the name of u/Hobnob88
This Reading shall end on the 7th June, at 10pm BST

Paver Base
A paver base adds a stylish finishing touch to any outdoor home project. A typical material for walkways and pavers is crushed coquina, also known as a paver base. Different sorts of rocks make up the polished stone and the paver base. The foundation is laid by the earth. Crushing reduces the material's functionality. The sizes range from little to a starting point of 3/4 inch. The most common stone used in this application is crushed limestone. Depending on the district, the item's tenor and content may change. Any clearing process must begin with the creation of an appropriate base. Never give in, never use plastic while clearing anything, and always keep a thin layer of conservative sheet material on the surface. A middle support layer called a sub-base covers subgrade soil. On a base are placed pavers of the highest caliber. Select the building materials that will support your pavers. Consider a variety of paver base options for durable, strong construction while keeping our budget and the project in mind. The paver base, which is made to be put in place quickly, can support the driveway, parking lot, sidewalk, or outdoor basketball court. Now, without all the sweat and exhaustion, you can construct the patio or pathway of your dreams in a few of hours. A paver base adds a stylish finishing touch to any outdoor home project.

2023.06.05 08:27 Peach_diy King's birthday or my birthday? Woodshed build

King's birthday or my birthday? Woodshed build
New woodshed after 3 years of 3 different temporary wood shelters
My contribution was mostly just aesthetics and design, with a side of researching material options and pricing. And stacking the wood.
My wonderful husband did the real work here!
Roughly it's 3.6x1.5m deep with a generous roof overhang. 1.85m high internally at the lowest point which makes for easy standing and stacking. Each bay holds 6-7 thrown cube stacked (pictured is 2 wheelbarrows shy of 6 cube). (3/6 cube amounts are commonly sold around here so I wanted a shed that could comfortable hold 2 lots of 6 cube for wood rotation)
Pretty much all rough sawn fencing materials from Bunnings with a trade discount. Just over $870 and ended up with 3 or 4 palings and a good amount of screwsleft over. Roofing iron 8 sheets of short ends from the local roofing supplier $10 each. Only thing we had on hand was the roofing screws from a previous project although a few short on the front so excuse the slightly wavy edge to be corrected.
So all up $950 and 2.5 days of work, still to transfer wood over to the second bay, but that is my job for another day.

2023.06.05 08:23 Jack000999 How to fix "E349: No identifier under cursor"?

When I go out of focus and come back into vim and if the cursor was in an empty space when I left the terminal window, I get the error "E349: No identifier under cursor" and if the cursor was on a word before I went out of focus then vim runs "[I" command.
With some trial and error, I figured out that this was caused due to "set mouse=a" option in my vimrc, but this problem started happening only a couple of days ago and I enabled mouse support months ago, so I am confused why its happening only now. With more digging around I found that when I lose focus vim receives "^[[O" characters and when I gain back fouce vim receives "^[[I" but this only happens when vim is running and with just my terminal(alacritty) opened and nothing running, no characters are received by my terminal. I tested these using 'cat' command, I ran 'cat' in my terminal and switched windows to lose focus and again switched back to gain focus but their were no inputs, but when I did the same thing in vim, while running a floating term provided by floatterm.vim, vim receives '^[[O' and '^[[I]' when FocusOut and FocusIn respectively.

  • The #1 way to melt away your prospect’s objections with ease… and turn them into devout BELIEVERS for life
  • The “mother” of ALL copywriting formulas… Single-handedly responsible for BILLIONS of dollars in sales (and NO, it’s not “AIDA”, “PAS”, or “PPPP”)
  • Eugene Schwartz’s 4 game-changing marketing secrets that revolutionized the marketing industry as we know it. (In fact, one of these is the sole reason why sales funnels exist today!)
  • 7 proven ”quick-n-dirty”copywriting templates & checklists you can use to reliably pump out winning copy FAST – even if you’re a beginner

  • How to identify & tap into your ideal prospect’s deepest NEGATIVE emotions like Shame, Fear, Anger, and Guilt
  • How to identify & tap into your ideal prospect’s deepest POSITIVE emotions like Redemption and Unconditional Acceptance (Often-overlooked emotions that actually drive action like CRAZY!)
  • The BEST way to infuse these powerful emotions into your “Big Ideas” and Headlines to make them 10X more effective!
  • 7 core desires 99.9% of people constantly crave like crazy… and how to use these in your copywriting for maximum effectiveness
Module 3

The “No-Nonsense” 80/20 Marketing Research Process

Yes, yes – I know research isn’t the sexiest of topics out there…
But it’s an absolutely essential aspect of creating winning marketing campaigns.
So…

2023.06.05 08:06 KnightofLoyalty Player Knight Funerals

From what I've gleaned, death of a player character in Pendragon's system is a fairly common occurrence. And it should be--one of the draws of the system is taking up the standard of the family as the next of kin, living up to the deeds of their line. It's fantastic, and I look forward to one day asking my players how different their successive knights felt to play.
My knights have yet to experience it (though they've had narrow misses, that's for certain), and as such I want to have something prepared to honor the knight when we inevitably lose our first and have the Player see their knight recognized. What I've got might be a bit long for a session trying to cover a year of in-game time with four players, but our group is running at a very slow pace anyway, and seem content. My checklist includes:
  1. Can the body be returned home? How long might it take, and what condition might the body be in? Are their healers who can embalm the body?
  2. Does the deceased have a written will? (I admit this might just be to motivate those who haven't done so despite prodding) If not, what do the other knights decide to do with the body of their comrade, and how might this affect their family later?
  3. Where is the deceased buried? At home, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sarum, or somewhere else of significance? Who makes that decision; the knight's spouse, or does the Earl or Church intercede with the offer of somewhere with Glory?
  4. Service takes place. Does anyone bring or buy gifts for the deceased, either to be buried with them, or to be given to their spouse or heir? (The deceased knight receives 10 Glory/L of gift; might be high, but it's the last Glory they'll receive)
  5. Review the Character's History on their Character Sheet. What was their single biggest instance of Glory? What were some of the party's best remembered moments with the character?
  6. Do any of the other Player Knights have a eulogy to give for their fallen comrade?
Ending on that personal note from the players ought to, I hope, make it a weighty and memorable moment, and set the tone for the knight's heir.
So what might you add or take away from this list? How have you handled it in the past, and might this end up changing the handling going forward? And if you have any sources on Cymric burial practices that might be worth including, by all means share them.

I clicked on an article called Hilarious in-fighting derails ‘sovereigns’ thinking it would be funny but nope, disturbing.
Aussie scammer Dave Oneeglio:
  1. Followed by murderers Gareth, Stacey and Nathaniel Train who killed two cops and another man. Dave's comment “When war is declared, truth is the first casualty.”
  2. Misused $500,000 money meant for flood victims on jet skis, etc. Source
  3. Backed by Rebel News Source: Dave Oneegs: Punished for helping Lismore flood victims
  4. Trying to raise money to challenge the court -- GiveSendGo - Dave Oneeglio Supreme Court Challenge fund: The #1 Free Christian Fundraising Site. Only $7 out of $100,000 requested LOL
  5. Sells fun Sovcit merchandise like these Why Are We Dying tank tops!
It's fun!

Even clothing for kids
From his website:
On a recent trip to Melbourne I caught up with Vicky Derderian.
At the time of filming last week,
Vicky was being denied a heart transplant unless she submits to 3 doses of the you know what.
Today, Vicky has now informed me that the Alfred Hospital has now suddenly told her she is simply no longer eligible for a heart, which is basically a death sentence for her, unless she somehow finds a way to get a transplant overseas.
I don’t think we have seen a more callous example of medical apartheid in the last 3 years.
This is a case that affects ALL Australians.
Remember to always be honourable and respectful, but at the same time do not be afraid to tell them how you feel about this complete lack of compassion, empathy, and common sense.

Source: Sovereign citizen Dave Oneeglio starts charging for website membership
Sovereign citizens are up in arms after a decision by prominent conspiracy theorist Dave Oneeglio to start charging for access to his radical beliefs.
February 2, 2023
Sovereign citizens in one of the movement’s most popular Aussie chatrooms are up in arms over a decision by their de facto leader Dave Oneeglio to begin charging $20 per month for access to his conspiracy theorist website.
Oneeglio, who runs the chat under his username Dave Oneegs, announced he would be adding a monthly payment option for access to his website, supposedly to make his radical conspiracy beliefs more accessible — except that it is significantly more expensive than paying annually upfront.
Oneeglio is frequently spotted online peddling radical and, at worst, dangerous anti-government conspiracies that fall under the sovereign citizen umbrella.
His most recent move, though, has garnered backlash even from within the community.
Followers slammed the decision to grant access to Oneeglio’s website for $20 per month — $239 per year — as opposed to the currently available $192 annual payment.
“Dave, read the room, mate. The market sets the price for what a product or service is worth, regardless of what you believe it’s worth. And your audience is telling you that you are overpriced,” one user, Tash, wrote.
“No point getting offended and defensive by that and making people feel like s**t. You will NEVER win people over that way.”
“You’ve completely lost the plot if you think that people are going to pay more than their streaming service subscription that they can turn on 24/7 for something that comes out on Tuesday’s (sic) and Thursdays,” said another user, Fox Hunter.
“I’ve supported Dave since the beginning but tbh (to be honest) I feel like he’s talking down to me and attacking me because I can’t afford to sign up to his website. It’s pretty tone deaf to tell people what they can and can’t afford. I’m on a disability pension so there no way (sic) I can afford $97. And I don’t think that’s my fault but Dave makes me feel like it is,” wrote a third.
The critics earned the vitriol of Oneeglio, who insisted even a “homeless person” could front up the cash.
“I guarantee a homeless person can find $5 a week. I guarantee it! We have a media that has decimated this country … and I’m doing something about it,” he wrote in one rambling response.
“The team and I and everyone who is supporting are tired of complaining and we are actually going to DO. something about it. If you can’t find $5, that’s fine … It’s not because you don’t have it … It’s because you don’t see the value yet in how important this is and u will spend the $5 elsewhere.”
He later doubled down, posting a videoed rant in which he accused the chat’s members of “shooting (him) in the back”.
“Why don’t you actually put yourselves in our shoes just for two seconds and think, wow, these people have been going non-stop for three years now. They might actually give a s**t about this country, they might actually be doing their best that they can,” Oneeglio said in a vlog from his car.
“We don’t plan on stopping but just stop trying to shoot us down when we’re fighting for you. Had enough of it. Over and out.”
Inside the conspiracy beliefs
The term “sovereign citizen” encompasses a broad range of ideologies, including anti-vaccine, anti-mainstream media and anarchist beliefs, but at its core refers to an insistence that the government and its actors are illegitimate.
The movement shot into public consciousness late last year after three of its members, the murderous Train trio, shot dead two Queensland police officers and a bystander.
One of the Train brothers was a member of Oneeglio’s own Telegram channel, and had referenced the conspiracy leader in his writings.
It is not suggested that any member of the group, including Oneeglio, was involved in the events at Wieambilla.
Unsettling screenshots of conversations being had inside the chat showed participants sympathising with the Train trio and even praising the cold-blooded killing of Constable McCrow and Constable Arnold.
One of the most disturbing comments came under a post from Oneeglio himself asking how his followers were “feeling”, after sharing a photo with the phrase: “When war is declared, truth is the first casualty.”
“How is everyone feeling? I feel flat and unsettled. Something feels very ‘wrong’ on some level today. Please share a comment below,” he wrote under the image.
One follower replied to this comment, urging others in the group to “take up arms” just like Nathaniel Train and his brother had.
“It feels very strange today. One of our fold has finally carried out their promise to make a difference. It will make a difference,” they wrote.
“They can’t keep suppressing us forever. Time to take up arms like our brother Nate.”
In other posts, commenters referred to one of the Train brothers as a “modern day Ned Kelly”, warning the “same thing might happen” if police officers tried to come onto their land.
Oneeglio has created a career for himself off the back of the movement and his Telegram channel, which has more than 61,000 subscribers.
The self-purported “influencer” has even started a merchandise range.
One shirt has the lines “Pharma funds the media, the media funds your fears. Your fears fund your disease, your disease funds pharma,” while another design states, “no weapon formed against me shall prosper.”
In recent months, he has been linked to numerous public clashes between sovereign citizens and police.
Oneeglio is currently facing a legal fight over allegations he used money raised for northern NSW flood victims inappropriately.
Oneeglio, also a friend of controversial chef Pete Evans, has been charged with one count each of failing to comply with lawful requirements, conducting unlawful appeals for support and person assisting an appeal converting money for own use or failing to properly account for the money concerning the flooding in Lismore.
The Queensland Office of Fair Trading (OFT) recently told News Corp that charges against the 48-year-old had been filed following an investigation.
Magistrate Colin Strofield adjourned the matter to March 17 to set a trial date if required.

Converting my Godot soccer game for web...
whoo this ended up waaay longer than i expected. sooo
TLDR - i converted my Godot 3.5 steam game Super Liquid Soccer for release on poki.com - a casual web game site with a giant userbase, was both an interesting and educational exercise and a rewarding one too - reached a multitude more players playing the game . Poki are _really_ keen to get more Godot games and developers on their site, are great to work with, and so i highly recommend submitting your games there.
link to game for the bored/curious:
https://poki.com/en/g/super-liquid-soccer
Super Liquid Soccer (SLS) is my first Godot game, developed using Godot 3.5.1, and i released it on steam at the beginning of the year to the typical crickets and tumbleweed, marketing is hard and i'm really really bad at it... I'd had a beta on Itch.io which garnered a handful of players, some of whom joined my discord and were really helpful in furthering the games development.
I'd posted on about the game on twitter pretty regularly and was contacted by the folks at poki asking if i'd be interested in releasing a version on their site. There are a bunch of web game portals - including a godot specific one - gotm.io but i'd not really considered targeting the web, but with my curiosity piqued and with exporting to web literally being a click away in Godot i started on making a web friendly build.

not an instant success...

For anyone interested here's a few notes about what i learned...
Optimization:
SLS is a 3d game, so there were two main areas to optimize - file size and graphic performance. With web games loading time is pretty critical, and the audience is playing on a vast array of devices from phones , tablets, chromebooks to desktops with every configuration you can imagine.
Graphics:
The game is in a lowpoly /simplified style to begin with which was a helpful starting point. I switched the game from gles3 to gles2 (gles3 web ran really slowly on the mac i tried it on) and took out some effects like depth of field. I defaulted to no shadows from the one directional light i use with an option to turn back on, and added blob shadows drawn under the characters. Switched to vertex lighting and turned off MSAA by default. Then it was an attempt to reduce the number of draw calls - less shader switching, using multimeshes where possible etc. I still have work to do in that area (combining textures into a single atlas for example), Overall though i think the game still looks in the ballpark of what i was aiming for (and how it started out) despite the compromises.

final game

File Size:
This was a pretty low tech process - i literally went through the game assets in file size order and optimized them in turn - higher compression for images, lowered bit rate and mono for audio files. I also replaced UI images with simple graphic shapes drawn in Godot. I also reduced some of the options in the game - one stadium instead of three, that kind of thing. Doing this reduced the game build from ~300mb to ~20mb , which zipped up was under 10mb. (users download the zipped version)
There is also the option of doing a custom build of Godot removing unused components (3d if you're doing a 2d game, bullet physics if you are using built in etc.) but I was using most of those things so didn't pursue that.

Gameplay:
Keyboard support - essential, and controversial - i didn't default to arrow keys and some people were mad. i'd designed the game for controller use, and so the keys were complex relative to your usual casual game which caused some issues with some players - when you think about it even a SNES controller maps to around 10 keys. I added the ability to remap keys , but not everyone checks the settings...
Touch Joypad support - For tablets, phones etc. I used the excellent touchJoyPad from the asset library with some tweaks and new icons.
Simplified controls - I had to remove some control features from the game (alternative shots and passes for example) as there was strong feedback that the controls were too complex.
Languages - I had more text in the game than i realized, google translate and some heavy research into football sayings in other languages ended up with "support" for Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Scottish(!). No doubt with terrible grammar and offending half the nations of the world. This was also a useful resource : Common game localizations - Google Sheets .
I really need to translate into Chinese and Arabic, but that would require far more work as things like fonts become an issue, as well as more languages like Dutch , this is something i should have thought about in the original game for sure. Godot makes this pretty straightforward to achieve - I made a resource with string arrays for the various buttons and labels, then copied that for each language replacing the strings with my terrible translations.
Devices - I'd made the assumption in the original game that it was running at 60fps , which given the massive number of different target devices was now not anywhere near guaranteed... and with my shoddy code there were plenty of magic numbers and things like that that had different effects if the game wasnt running at that frame rate... well, that's a good reason to play your game on as many devices as possible... for example , i had a stat in the game for each player that determined how many frames it would be before their state would be updated - how 'smart' the player was. So in the player's process function there was something like:
AIframe+=1 if AIframe > pSmart: updatePlayer()
now, if the game was running at say 30fps, the players would be twice as dumb. So a quick hacky fix for that would be
AIframe += 60.0 * delta if AIframe > pSmart: updatePlayer()
which should be more consistent across frame rates. Please don't judge my code.
if you don't have access to many other devices you can force frame rates in the Godot settings which is _really_ useful!
Casual Gamers - the audience is perhaps less targeted for your particular game which means they may need more handholding in terms of reminders for controls and the like, and i was asked to make a tutorial introduction which still needs work. Still didn't stop the 'i hate football games' comments sooo....

Poki Stuff
There's an excellent asset in the Godot Asset Library for the poki sdk - it comes with an export template and a script with the relevant functions to call. In terms of usage you only have to initialize the sdk, and then call a function when the player starts a game. Then there are two types of ads to show - Commercial Break which only shows every couple of minutes, even if you call it multiple times...and Rewarded Break which you show if you want to reward the player for watching an ad. and that's it! So it's a really simple and straightforward way to get ads in the game in a way you don't really have to think much about other than the right time to fire them.
On the game side you setup functions to listen for when the ad is done, or didn't fire. - the sdk info for Godot games is here: Godot - Poki Developer Guide
As i mentioned before Poki has a huge playerbase of casual gamers - I went from a few tens of users on Steam to literally Millions of gameplays. That quickly exposed some flaws in the game, and more than a few bugs..
Poki have a function on the game page where the players can rate the game and provide feedback or report bugs, which is fantastic, unless you name Cristiano Ronaldo "Penaldo" in your game like i did and you end up with 100 angry messages from his fans. I've collected some awesome insults, and some really nice messages too. But the most useful thing is it highlights trends - multiple people complaining about a certain bug for example. The game is currently in soft launch and this has been a great resource for capturing edge cases and other bugs. It also makes you marvel how you can inadvertently upset people across the entire world.

my favourite feedback so far.
If anyone is still reading this - here's some positives and drawbacks in summary....
Advantages -
  • a huge audience of casual gamers playing your game. Everyone wants their game to be played right? :D There's been some nice feedback too.
  • feedback both good and bad. and sometimes from an angry Belgian or indeed several.
  • high quality ads - I've seen ads from the likes of Mattel, Disney , Adobe etc. amongst ads for other games
  • really simple and easy to implement the sdk and get going
  • you can earn decent money if your game is popular and you target monetization well.
  • good support - there's a very helpful discord with both the poki folk and some friendly helpful developers too.
Disadvantages -
  • Casual game site - your game might not fit, or have obvious places to try and monetize with rewards and the like. I have to admit i am struggling with this a little - my game wasn't designed with the casual gamer in mind.
  • Expectations of Audience - the audience are casual gamers, so a page of feedback will oscillate between "this is the worst game i've ever played and you should stop making games" to "great game" and everything in between. Or even "I hate Soccer games you should make a game about BeyBlades". you can embrace this though, and it often reveals obstacles that prevent a player connecting with the game.
I do encourage people to submit your games though! - as i mentioned they are really keen to grow the number of Godot games on the site, and there are sooo many promising projects on this subreddit.
you can submit your game here: Poki for Developers - Reach the world on web
cheers!

2023.06.05 06:53 BlueLanternArrow My theory/interpretation of ending and "that" scene in the finale (SEASON 4 SPOILERS)

This is your final spoiler warning!
Also I know it's a long read - I'll try to put a TL;DR at the end but Manifest lore isn't exactly simple and straight forward so I'd appreciate reading the whole thing :)
I'm referring to the "yelling at the Grim Reaper" scene on the plane at the end. I totally see what people feel the way they do, and I definitely agree the execution could have been a lot better, but I think it's getting oversimplified and doesn't deserve as much flak as it gets.
Also as heads up: this is totally just fan theory working backwards to fill in the plot holes (like the group judgment). Even if the writers came out and said my post was 100% accurate and totally their intentions, I'm definitely reaching at certain points trying to force the narrative to work, especially since a large part comes down to "what the characters thought was true, so we the viewers thought was true, was actually wrong" which is pretty lame, so don't be too hard on me! Just trying to explain it a way that kind of makes it make sense to me :)
With that said, here are my thoughts:
Firstly, my interpretation of the callings and their purpose:
The callings were never strict rules to be followed or testing the characters in the way they believed (where if you failed a calling, you failed judgment, or that it was like some sort of grade where you have to complete x% of your callings). I think the callings were simply there to aid them to help them guide each other to be their best selves and be good. And not just themselves, but to help others on the lifeboat - because if you're truly selfless and good, you don't have that "fuck them I got mine" mentality where you're satisfied because YOU'VE been saved. This group of people had 5.5 years to bring out the best in themselves and each other, to do good in the world, and to just make the right choices. It's why the callings were so ambiguous.
Imagine this (ridiculous) scenario where you want to reward people for doing good so you give a million dollars to everyone who volunteers at a soup kitchen this Saturday. If you go up to someone and say "hey, you should volunteer at the soup kitchen this Saturday, I'm giving out a million dollars to every volunteer!" you're going to get a shit ton of people, but they aren't good and you aren't rewarding them. They're just taking advantage of the situation for their own good. You could just not say anything and just reward whoever shows up - but maybe you believe there are good people out there who just need a slight push, who are still selfless enough that they'd do the right thing just because it's the right thing, but otherwise wouldn't necessarily be actively out there looking to volunteer. So you go downtown and hand out fliers and just say "hey, I know you don't have any plans this weekend, so a bunch of us are going to volunteer at the soup kitchen this Saturday, I'd love for you to come along, you'd be helping a lot of people." Now you can weed out the people who are good and willing to help a cause and dedicate their time, you've got more people than normal out there volunteering, and you get to reward those people for making a genuinely good choice with no incentive. In the end, everyone wins (even if some of those people wouldn't have volunteered without the invitation.) That's basically how I interpret the callings: they were there to guide them and nudge them on the right path, without any promise of that million dollars they'd be handed out if they did it. At the end of the day, the callings gave them a CHOICE: you have no obligation to go out and do anything it says, and if you wanna say "fuck that I got better things to do this Saturday afternoon" then that's on you. But those who were open to it and thought to themselves "yeah, you know what? I've got some time to spare and maybe it's not how I would have normally chose to spend my Saturday, this is the right thing to do." And they walked down that path, did the right thing, became better for it, and at the end of the day got their million dollars.
With this in mind, that brings us to the next part:
The lifeboat and the group judgment
TBH I don't remember much pre-season 4 and the details of Al-Zuras and his journals are shaky, so honestly I could be straight up wrong about some things here (feel free to let me know if so!) - but I think a large portion here is that the characters were misinterpreting and misunderstanding what was in the journal. This is actually pretty common throughout the show - the characters get something vague/ambiguous and think it means something and go with that, until they realize later they actually misunderstood what it was really trying to tell them. This even happens at the very end of the finale - the page which was thought to be depicting Ben saving Olive from the fire was actually showing Ben bringing Angelina onto the plane and forgiving her.
I believe the lifeboat and their interpretation of Al-Zuras was one of those things where they got the gist of it, but got the details wrong. That's why I think the judgment worked the way it did at the end - it wasn't contradicting any lore, it was contradicting an (incorrect) assumption the characters made. (Like I said at the beginning, I know that's lame and reaching, but it's the best theory I've got to make it not a plothole.)
They're correct in that the group is judged together. They're correct in that their aim is to help each other all be the best they can be - like I mentioned earlier, it's not enough to just say "fuck you, I got mine", in order to be truly good/selfless they need to do what ever they can to help the others on the lifeboat and put them on the right path. You can't just try and be a good person because you yourself want the rewards, you need to be and do good because it's truly who you are. So, Al-Zuras's crew and the passengers of 828 were tied and grouped together in that way, in which they needed to all put in the effort to truly be worthy of salvation, and to help everyone else in their lifeboat find salvation and walk the correct path as much as they can.
They were WRONG that it's all or nothing. This next part I could be wrong about (like I said, pre-season 4 is hazy), but if I recall, there was never any actual confirmation 100% that Al-Zuras and his crew survived the death date. I think them throwing the passengers off the life boat was actually them failing their test and condemning them. It wasn't that the only way for them to be saved was to throw the ones they deemed unworthy overboard and sacrifice them - that was Al-Zuras trying to game the system and find a loophole, and I think that Al-Zuras would actually have failed the death date because of this, but the characters mistakenly interpreted this as "they needed to do this to survive because even 1 bad passenger would get them all killed." I think it is pretty well connected with the fact that the final clue they solve is that they need to do the EXACT OPPOSITE of this: Ben's final task, the one Olive discovers in the book and tries to call him, is saying that for him to pass, he must bring Angelina on the lifeboat. Angelina, the primary antagonist, the most vile of the passengers, the one who fails her own judgment - by Al-Zuras's logic, she should have been purposely killed and thrown overboard. Yet, the Divine Conscious demands that they do the EXACT OPPOSITE: that even though she, as a result of the consequences of her own actions, would not have made it onto the lifeboat for judgment, the only way the others could pass is if she is there with them.
With that in mind, the final piece of the puzzle (and I'll explain why I think the 3 methheads all died together):
The actual judgment
I think, ultimately, the final judgment is really not so much God (or whatever)'s judgment of you, but your own judgment. The final lesson and clue they get towards salvation is "forgiveness makes the heart grow lighter." Only a few episodes prior, Michaela had an entire episode dedicating to her needing to forgive herself. It's not enough that you're "objectively" a good person - it's that deep within your soul you genuinely believe you're good or have fundamentally changed, that you recognize your faults and truly feel repentance and believe yourself worthy of salvation. I think all of these are a factor: you need to both BE worthy, and also BELIEVE you are worthy. That's why Angelina still failed her judgment despite truly believe at her core she was special and worthy. She was unable to recognize or acknowledge the pain she's caused and the sins she's committed. Her meeting with Cal unraveled the moment he said it could make up for the pain she's caused - she gets defensive and denies this, and thinks only about the pain she herself went through. She says she never meant to kill Grace and feels remorse for this, but that's different than truly being sorry for it. She's always had the mindset of superiority, "yeah, I killed Grace and that's unfortunate and I wish I hadn't, but I'm special and it's just collateral damage in the big picture." She never truly understand the pain Ben and the Stones felt, the hurt she's caused. She might acknowledge a bit that Grace didn't deserve to die, but she never takes responsibility or ever truly repents for what she's done. Even until her last moments, she can't fathom why she has failed judgment - which is ironically what caused it.
I think that's further illustrated with Eagan, Adrian, and Saanvi. Saanvi is no saint and definitely flawed, but I think we've seen her do TONS of good and done everything in her power to help as much as possible. It's why when she sees that she herself is failing judgment her immediate reaction is "yeah, I deserve it." It doesn't matter if she's, objectively, changed and done good - she doesn't believe she's good and worthy, she believes she does not deserve to be saved. Ben pleading manages to change something - he spells out for her and makes her realize the good she's done, how much she has helped people; even just understanding how much he cares for her and believes in her alone illustrates she's at least worth something. It's how she is saved.
The same for Eagan and Adrian. I saw a comment here about how Eagan only offered himself for Adrian because it was a ploy and he knew that would "save" himself. I don't agree with this take at all. This also circles back to my other theory about the callings and why it doesn't matter if you did them or not (and why it was Ben's calling, in the end, that ultimately changed Eagan and not Eagan's own calling) - it just matters that in the end, you repented and were sincere about it. Eagan's (almost) last moments were that of acceptance - he's honestly not been a great guy, and he probably deserves it. He's not thinking about himself anymore or lying about why his own life is more important. He's accepted he didn't live up to his potential and is now willing to take responsibility for it to the point that he's willing to sacrifice himself for someone he genuinely believes is good and deserves it - he doesn't care about himself now, he TRULY cares about doing what's right. Adrian's pleas about the good he's done combine with this to make him finally believe that deep, deep down, at his core - maybe he isn't really a bad guy. Pretty much the same with Adrian - he was a jerk and did a lot of bad, but in the end he was on the right side. He felt guilty and repentant about the bad he's done and when he saw someone (especially someone as selfish as Eagan) was ready and willing to sacrifice themselves for him, it brought him peace knowing he really had done good and impacted someone so deeply.
That's, in my opinion, why the three meth heads still died in the end I don't really think that in the end after Jace died, the other two genuinely, truly believed "I earned this, I deserved this, I'm a good person." They still thought about themselves and were mainly focused on surviving and hadn't truly redeemed themselves - it wasn't just that one failed, it's that the other 2 just didn't do enough (because let's be real - if Saanvi of all people almost failed her judgment, I don't think it's a stretch these 2 would either).
So, the "screaming match" wasn't just them yelling at God and saying "no u." It was Ben and Michaela, co-captaining the life boat and guiding everyone to safety. They had specific examples of specific names - they TRULY believed, deep down, that each and everyone of these passengers were good and true and deserved to be saved. They had "proof" to back it up with concrete examples of all the good they've done. I think this was simply a physical manifestation of their internal good vs evil/light vs dark conflict. That's why it was so important for Michaela to forgive herself - they overcame their self doubt and insecurities and could say, honestly, "we are good people who have sacrificed and worked tirelessly to do good in this world" - and not only for themselves, but for the others as well (circling back to the "lifeboat" concept). I think seeing Michaela and Ben bringing up the good they did inspired and encouraged the others just like how Saanvi/Eagan/Adrian were reassured by others. They helped the other passengers remember what they've done and how hard they've tried, and were showing firsthand that they genuinely believed those passengers deserved to live, prompting the rest of them to grow more and more confidence and believe in themselves and both metaphorically and physically drive away the darkness and evil, finally bringing them to salvation.
Best attempt at TL;DR - the callings are just opportunities to nudge them on the right path; the group judgment was misinterpreted by the characters and even though they're all on the same lifeboat and need to help each other will be judged together, it's not a "one fails we all fail" idea like they thought; judgment is equally on God judging your worth just as much as it is your own self-forgiveness and repentance and belief that you are good and worthy and the final act of driving out the grim reaper wasn't them yelling at him but finally cementing their belief that they are good and worthy and forgive themselves and each other and in doing so inspiring all the other passengers, thus driving out the darkness and evil from within them (which is physically manifested by them driving out the Grim Reaper)

2023.06.05 06:16 psychoticwaffle2 A bomb is about to explode and kill you. Defusing the bomb requires knowledge of algebra, advanced physics, a mechanical degree, knowledge of Assembly and BASIC and a bomb proof door

Your boss trapped you in a room, claiming that to get a promotion, you need to EARN it.
The bomb has nine layers:
Layer 1: A series of algebra questions dealing with variables that man does not yet know, having to solve for number sets so large that they defy math in general. A common math problem is 99857+81724=4. 4-?=81932
Layer 2: The physics involved will burn you to a crisp, freeze you solid, then turn you inside out. Only a master of physics (Or gordan freeman) can survive the trip. You have a switchboard and have to turn all switches green. beware, after you turn six, the rest will reset. switches 3,8,2 and 1 need to be flipped but like the one far below, 3 will close 8,8 will close 2,2 will open 3 and 3 will reset the bunch.
Layers 3 through 9 have locks that will trip if you fail
Layer 3: You must roll a ball through a maze of corroded gears, jammed engines and a malfunctioning press system. If the ball is destroyed or you take too long, the lock trips and its by by body.
Layer 4: Multi-variable calculus sheets that must be done within ten seconds. Each sheet time gets progressively longer in length and shorter in time. final paper is 48x48 with .5 seconds per question. grace period is 2 seconds.
Layers 5 through 9 require knowledge of Programming
Layer 5: Plot the shortest path between two points using only the Z80 processor and one JSR loop. The path is to be exactly 16 byte total. You cannot call from ROM routines or use BCC
Layer 6: A KIM 1 controls the gate for the TTL chips. Using 6502, bridge the gap using only one RTS instruction. For mercy's sake, Zero page starts at $3FFF. Code must be again 16 bytes long. Bridge is gapped when the Kim powers down. You have ten minutes for each layer. You cannot use BCC, ADC nor can you call ROM routines from the kernal.
Layer 7-9 (- means through)
Using 4k BASIC on the original Chiclet PET (Yes, I am being evil here), close every circuit except two. The circuits are outlined here:
Circuit one closes circuit seven. Circuit seven closes circuit three. Circuit three closes all of them. Circuit eight resets the grid. You need to close circuits 7,1,8 and 3 without causing the grid to reset or fail. BASIC memory for the bomb begins at 7680 and the circuits are 582,217,327 and 481 respectively. 1 is on, 0 is off. Three tries. You are limited to the TIM monitor.
Once all layers are secure, get behind the door. the blast will take out the room, the locked door and the area around it so you can escape.
You have one hour. Success means you get promoted at work, you now work in retail

The Main Goal:
Well if you’re browsing this subreddit then much like me, you were alone this weekend and I’m sure you’d like to change that as much as me. I won’t lie, I am going through a rough part of my life right now. It’s difficult for me to find the energy for anything at the moment and I’m just really seeking affection in general, anything that will give me a push. I don’t want to be that person who brings everyone down but I could really use someone to talk to right now. I’d really like to find someone who’s similar to me so much to the point that we do everything together and talk about everything while not having to pretend to be interested. I want someone with whom we can mutually spew our emotions onto and have those feelings reciprocated. Not an emotional punching bag, but an emotional teddy bear to hug and cuddle until everything feels better as many times as we need. There’s people who I’m sure have told you the same, they’ll be there no matter how many times you need the support, no matter how many times the insecurities and bad thoughts come back but they don’t mean it. I will be the exception, I’m not so ignorant to think some nice words and tales of relating to you will magically forever heal whatever ails you then get mad when you seek the same support again. Mental ailments are rarely temporary and I don’t care about someone because they’re perfect, caring about someone means being there no matter how many times they need you to be. It doesn’t feel like a chore, it doesn’t get old, and it never will.

(2.a)
What I'm Seeking:
I will upfront let you know if I’m clicking better with someone else or if you’re the one, I’m not here to tread the sea of fish or keep my options open, I’m here for one singular person.
(2.b)
Relationship:
A relationship is difficult for me right now, it’s been nearly half a year since I got out of my last relationship and the reasons for it ending are partially responsible for how I’ve been feeling and why it’s so hard for me to seek the comfort I so desperately crave. I will tell you about it but for the sake of not treating the entirety of the internet as my therapist, it’ll be in private. I really need the comfort of intimacy and the warmth of someone who cares. I'm not going to feel better if I just sulk and don’t move on. This is my attempt to get better, I’ll admit I’m not great right now and I don’t expect you to be either. If we can help each other heal, then I’d be more than happy :) A relationship isn’t just being there for when someone’s at their best. Even if a relationship is hard at the moment, I do want a life partner and I don’t want to be alone. Things aren’t going to get easier without you so I don’t want to hesitate. I view my other as an equal, I don’t like categorizing us into specific roles. We take care of each other and treat each other how we like to be treated, whatever that is, it's as simple as that. I don't care if you're "successful" or not, living simple lives with our days filled with love is the ultimate measure of success to me.
(3)
Personality:
(3.a)
On the Surface:
As you can tell I can be rather… stoic but that’s largely due to my current stressors, I truthfully am goofy and fun loving but I just can’t find it in me right now. I want to return to that but without someone to light up my world it’s been difficult to just have fun and enjoy stuff. I’m definitely more introverted, you won’t catch me at any parties or really outside at all. I definitely prefer being home though the occasional outing is not out of the question and one day I’d like to travel to other countries because I think that kind of perspective is important.
(3.b)
The Core of My Being:
I like being a spectator to it all and if we bear witness to humanity burning or its miraculous recovery, I want to watch it with you. I enjoy watching humanity advance, less so when it devolves but I want to watch it to the end nonetheless. I’m both a realist and someone who lives with my head in the clouds dreaming of scenarios or worlds that don’t exist. I’m saying that I enjoy a good narrative and can suspend my disbelief to enjoy something but you won’t catch me refusing vaccines or ignoring blatant facts for the sake of some pseudo science or witch doctor’s remedy. I’m an atheist but I do not rule out existence after death, not because I’m agnostic but because due to the nature of potentially infinite time at some point after how many googol years with a googol amount of 0s after that, something’s bound to replicate your consciousness perfectly at some point. It’s actually a really fascinating topic I like talking about. If infinite time and infinite possibilities exist, does non existence exist? Though that’s an awfully existentially dreadful thought process considering the ramifications of infinite existence and infinite possibilities during said infinite existence. I would say I’m confidently left leaning and I don’t think I could truly get along with anyone right leaning, at least America’s definition of right leaning. Left and right seems to have just become; do people deserve to suffer or do they deserve to live good lives? Being political is not something I expected to become but how can you not be when crimes against human rights are being passed on a daily basis and at the end of the day, everything’s political. Oftentimes I imagine the perfect moment as relaxing with my significant other playing games or cuddling in a cold room under blankets.
I value that special someone above all of the existential thoughts, the bad of the world, the good of the world, they practically become my world. So many worries wash away when I’m with them. I don’t know if that’s the defense mechanism my brain created to not feel bad 24/7 but if it is, I’m currently without it.
(3.c)
Insecurities:
I talk of philosophy and politics here but really I spend most of my time just playing games, watching stuff, and trying to not be sleep deprived. I’m also nowhere near as well spoken, heck sometimes I feel like my speech is broken. I won’t claim to be something I’m not, I sit at home while I complain about the world doing nothing about it wishing I had someone here with me. I’m not noble nor do I really want to be, I have morals I uphold but much like most other hypocrites I acknowledge that my comfortable life is built on the suffering of others without doing anything about it. Why? My sleep problems? Am I depressed? Is that why I have no energy to do anything? Do I just think nothing I could do could help? I can’t nail it down myself, maybe it’s a mix of everything, maybe I’m just a bad person. I have always told myself that if I had wealth I would help people but if I get that kind of wealth will I just become a wealth hoarder who tries to justify my riches as something I earned rather than something given to me through incredibly lucky circumstances? If I do help people is it because I’m a good person or out of guilt? Will I die alone? I feel like I drive everyone away with my clinginess, I get paranoid often and need reassurance often. It’s something I want to work on, something I’ve been trying to work on. Hearing that someone cares about me just never gets old. I value self awareness even if it’s painful.
(3.d)
Socializing:
I’m definitely a socially anxious/awkward mess, especially around strangers. I do feel a large amount of anxiety in public, people can’t tell by looking at my face since I kind of go stone faced in an attempt to block everything out but yeah you’ll notice that if we go out in public. Growing up my pediatrician said I was probably autistic, never got a formal diagnosis so that’s just great. But yeah that explains why I can’t make eye contact with people, I kinda just stare at the ground and avoid their gaze at all costs. A lot of these social struggles go away to a great degree once I know you for a bit but yeah I apologize for how terrible I am at socializing at first. Don’t let my social struggles fool you though, I love cuddling and being close with my person.
(3.e)
Sexuality:
I am a heterosexual male, though I’m not very masculine like at all. I may even be a bit feminine sometimes. Not that I believe any activity or manner of acting belongs to a gender but I don’t know how else to describe it. I’m definitely super affectionate and love it when my partner is too. I am open to dating demi people but I do have a libido so I don't think asexual would work out.
(4)
Interests:
(4.a)
Video Games:
As stated before, I do spend a lot of my time playing video games. It’s been hard lately with me having no energy but I really do want to play more games and have a good time playing them with you! I primarily play on PC though I do have a switch. I’m primarily into platform fighters, roguelikes, open world, survival, and sandbox games. As for single player story games, I enjoy watching them through twitch or youtube but for the most part I don’t play them myself. I’d watch you play them though!
Here’s a list of games we can play:
-Minecraft (Java)
-Risk of Rain 2
-Gunfire Reborn
-Roboquest
-7 Days to Die
-Phasmophobia
-Rust
-Unturned
-Bloons TD 6
-Platform fighters: Super Smash Bros. Melee, Slap City, Multiversus, Flash Party, Fraymakers
Whatever you want to play I’ll give it a shot! I will say that League bores me to death but I’ll play it for you :) I try to avoid MMOs, not because I don’t like them but because of how addicted I can get to them. I enjoy learning games in-depth so MMOs can be a fast track to addiction.
I recently got Kerbal Space Program 2 and ehhh not really worth it right now but hopefully later it will be? I’m super excited for Tears of the Kingdom! In the far off future I’m excited for Rivals of Aether 2 which is a platform fighter releasing in 2024, let me know of your most anticipated releases and I’ll see if I could play them with you!
Also I never got into FPS games but I could totally see myself playing like CoD with you or Escape From Tarkov. Any FPS really, I’m down.
I am a fan of Pokemon but with how things have been lately I don’t know how long that will last. Pixelmon is a common Pokemon mod I play for Minecraft if you want to play that! Also if I say I want to play something with you I mean it but there are often times when no matter how much I want to I'm just drained and can do little more than lay in bed so please don't think I'm making an excuse.
(4.b)
Science:
I really enjoy keeping up with the latest advances in pretty much everything, it could be biology, technology, astronomy, anything! I love seeing progression and I love talking about it! Really I could go on and on about what I’m obsessing about that day. I particularly love technology, ask me for my laptop specs I dare you. When I was little I always wanted to be a scientist of any kind but then insomnia and fear of college stuff hit me like a truck aaaand that’s the end of that dream.
(4.c)
Anime:
You got me, I like anime but I’d like to think my tastes are benign.
Here’s some of my favorites I can list from the top of my head:
- To Your Eternity
- Vinland Saga
- Spice and Wolf
- Re:Zero
- Mob Psycho
- Dr. Stone
- Attack on Titan
- Spy x Family
- My Hero Academia
- Ranking of Kings
- Demon Slayer
Okay I can go on and on but I will say I don’t like pointless fan service and the spamming of cliche anime moments. I mostly enjoy action and anything well animated if it doesn’t have a potato story. Heck Demon Slayer could be my top 3 out of season 2’s animation alone. I don’t watch slice of life often or romance but I would with you!
(4.d)
Misc:
I’m not going to go on and on about the tiniest little things when the main ones are covered but I’ll watch pretty much any show with you and anything really. I like random youtube videos that explain some kind of lore or mystery, sometimes mini documentaries too.
As for food I looove sushi and I’m a sucker for fast food. Okay and candy, definitely candy.
I used to play tennis but haven’t really had the opportunity nor friends to play it with and I’m way too socially anxious to seek it out. Also I will say that when we move to something like discord I type waaaay more casually. I’m not going to expect long paragraphs back and forth like we’re writing English papers for each other, I do enjoy long conversations but seriously don’t worry about having to put the utmost effort into every response, I just like making good first impressions I guess.
(5)
(5.a)
My Physical Characteristics:
I’m 5’8 (172cm), 128 pounds (58kg), with curly brown hair and blue eyes. I like keeping my hair long in the winter and cutting it in the summer. I’m pretty slim in general so if you’re looking for someone large, that’s not me. I don’t work out but my work is pretty physical so at least I’m not totally inactive. I don’t have the urge to work out or gain muscle but I do want to maintain my slim figure so if I start losing control of that I’ll work out. I like to keep my face shaved because I don’t think I look good with a beard/mustache so if you’re into those I apologize. I have an average amount of body hair? I’d prefer to be completely shaved but it’s easy to lose motivation with that battle, if you prefer shaved then I’d have no problem complying. Anyways here’s what I look like: https://imgur.com/a/MZZgf2t
(5.b)
My Physical Preferences:
Having physical preferences makes me feel shallow, if I could make myself not have them I would but unfortunately that’s now how that works. I don’t care if you’re shorter or taller than me and I don’t care if you weigh more or less than me. All I ask is that you’re slim-average weight. I would never ask for someone to be something I’m not. I don’t care about tattoos or piercings.
(6)
Expectations of You:
I am not looking for someone “exciting” or someone to “keep me on my toes” I’m not looking for someone to cater to my every whim or anything like that. I don’t care if you’re “boring” or if you aren’t “successful”. I know it’s a common thing for people to not want a “boring” relationship and to seek something argumentative or something with constant challenges but I just want to be with you. During the exciting times, the boring times, and everything in-between, all of it will be great with you! Maybe we do argue sometimes or maybe there will be challenges but that will never be something I purposefully seek out and I don’t want that to be something you seek out either. I will not play tricks on you and I will not play mind games, I expect the same from you. We all have personal measures of success we may or may not have lived up to but what I care about most is our commitment to each other. If we have each other we can get through tough times, near the ends of our lives I want us to look back and feel that this life together was worth more than anything. That’s not saying I want us to be haphazard, I don’t want us to make poor decisions for the sake of yolo and I want us to always be rational, especially with each other. I want you to be someone I can trust to make decisions and weigh the options with a level head, I’ll try my best to live up to the same for you. Most of all I want empathy, understanding, someone to feel the utmost comfort and trust in.
(7)
Living Situation:
Currently my life is pretty relaxed, I work 3 times a week as a night shift stocker. I currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment with my roommate but we’re looking to move into someplace larger by the end of the year if everything works out. The internet is weirdly great for Ohio too like I have fiber and later this year we’re supposed to be getting dedicated fiber so that’s neat. I’m not attached to Ohio so the ultimate goal living location wise is probably moving to a country that won’t send you into a lifetime of dealing with the repercussions from one medical emergency.
(8)
Deal Breakers:
Might as well make this simple and make it a list.
- Anti-vaxxers
- Unironically believing astrology
- Right wingers
- Hard drugs (occasional 420 and alcohol is fine, may even join you)
- Wanting children, there was a time when I was younger when I wanted children but with the state of the word that’s a definite no and I feel like I wouldn’t be able to handle the stress. I’d love a stress free life with as much time with you as possible.
- Homophobic
- Transphobic

Closing Remarks:
Well you made it, I was thinking that finding someone I’d be willing to put a lifetime of effort into at least required this much effort. If I think of anything more I’ll update the post. Also about timezones, it really doesn’t matter where in the world you are. I don’t have a sleep schedule and I have most of the week off from work so it really doesn’t matter.
I request that in your response you do put effort into it, it doesn’t have to be anywhere near as long as this but at least enough so I know that you read this and enough about you so I know why you saw potential compatibility. I will seriously read all of it and respond the best I can. I do also request a pic included in your response (sfw please) or one soon after we start talking to prove identity, I’ll send identity proving pics too. As long as this post is up, you can send a reply!

(1)
(2)
(2.a)
What I'm Seeking:
(6) Expectations of You: I am not looking for someone “exciting” or someone to “keep me on my toes” I’m not looking for someone to cater to my every whim or anything like that.
- Racist
- Super Religious
- Don’t be a bigot and don’t deny facts.
(9)

2023.06.05 06:08 Determination7 An Outcast In Another World (Subtitle: Is 'Insanity' A Racial Trait?) [Fantasy, LitRPG] - Chapter 199 (Book 5 Chapter 25)

Ragnavi stood at the edge of a hill located beside the Dragonkin encampment. She breathed in, drinking deep from the crisp morning air.
It tasted wrong.
I have been dancing to Elnaril's tune. She was still coming to terms with that particular revelation. Even now, admitting it rankled her. The notion that she'd allowed herself to be blinded by her pursuit of EXP...fuck, it was shameful. No one else knew, but she did, and that was already bad enough.
Hindsight made it all seem so obvious. This entire war was a farce. Her armies had advanced unopposed because they were never meant to be opposed. Their string of victories, and the Harpies she'd slain as EXP, were little more than a trail of bait leading her towards Elnaril's capital city. No other explanation made sense.
Not that she'd looked especially hard for an explanation until yesterday. It was much more convenient to adorn Elnaril with neat, concise labels. Why had he declared war? Because he was greedy. Why were his armies failing so spectacularly? Because he was incompetent. Ragnavi had been content to look no further than that.
After learning Elnaril was controlled by the Blight, however? That changed matters.
Most of her soldiers refused to believe it. In truth, the Harpies they'd extracted the information from refused to believe it as well. They'd thrown out the rumors as a desperate measure to buy favor, explaining how distressing Message Crystal reports of a Blight-possessed Elnaril were coming from cities to the far east. The concept seemed ludicrous, and Ragnavi likely would have dismissed it as hearsay – if it weren't for the numerous corroborating accounts of disappearances in the capital. Nobles, civilians and Combat Class users alike, all vanishing without a trace.
When combined with Elnaril's flagrant lack of regard for the lives of his people, it indicated a pattern. Not of greedy incompetence, but of calculated malice.
Others could stick their heads in the sand if they wished. Ragnavi had grown up in the pit of vipers that was the Dragonkin court, and she could smell deceit from leagues away. This Blight-infected Elnaril wanted her army to continue marching straight towards the capital city. For him, abomination that he was, sacrificing the lives of thousands of Harpies in order to draw her attention was no worse than spilling loose change on the ground.
What have you prepared that instills you with such confidence? What awaits me at the capital?
She supposed that she'd be finding out soon, when she left her armies behind and flew ahead alone.
If Ragnavi was capable of greater self-delusion, she might have been able to convince herself that she was acting pragmatically. There were just enough benefits for it to be a half-sensible plan. Compared to the maddeningly slow gait of her armies, she could travel significantly faster on her own. Flying solo would let her reach the capital in less than ten days, while trekking with her soldiers across the bulk of Harpy territory would take months more. And it wasn't as if any Harpies she crossed paths with could keep pace with her, so there was no real danger to it.
I am playing the role of a Scout, she told herself. We must know what Elnaril is plotting before advancing further. Arriving at the capital earlier than he anticipates, before he's recalled more Harpies to fortify his position, may give rise to unforeseen opportunities. I will observe the city from a safe distance – and if a chance arises to disrupt his plans, no Combat Class user in the world is better-suited to taking advantage of that scenario than myself.
Sound logic...if she ignored the fury boiling inside her. The last Blight she'd encountered left her with agonizing Corruption sickness that afflicted her to this day. Its death hadn't been anywhere near sufficient of a revenge. Now a second Blight was trying to make a fool of her, and she was supposed to avert her eyes from that offense?
No. Perhaps the cautious route would have been to avoid the capital city, Scouring the rest of Harpy territory for EXP, but she was no mewling newborn that cowered from a challenge when it presented itself. She was a Dragonkin. A true Dragonkin. Elnaril would pay for his transgressions in blood and fire.
Ragnavi recognized that her desires were born from hubris. She also did not care. What good was all the power she'd accumulated if she couldn't use it as she pleased?
An approaching presence jarred her from her thoughts. She turned around to see the man she'd called for standing several feet away, although he was 4 minutes and 13 seconds late. Considering his circumstances, she would afford him a measure of leniency. "Vurshath."
"My Queen." Her retainer nodded to her. "You wished to see me?"
She examined the man closely. Vurshath's posture was slouched by a quarter of an inch, and black circles were emblazoned under his eyes, so dark that they could've been mistaken for paint. He was exhibiting unacceptable weakness for a retainer of the Dragon Queen to show. The kind that invited vultures to swoop down and pick at your carcass.
Yet even if the other retainers attempted to depose him at this very instant, Ragnavi wasn't certain if Vurshath would care. He was still recovering from the loss of his wife. It was one thing to claim that your family was prepared to die in battle; another to witness that gruesome vow become a reality. The Dragonkin casualties thus far had been sparse, but sparse was not zero, and Vurshath's wife happened to roll poorly in the game of war.
The pain in his eyes was one that Ragnavi was intimately familiar with.
"As you are aware, I shall be traveling to the Harpy capital," she began. "I intend to head straight there, without detours or excessive rest. It is unlikely that I will encounter anything more than the occasional Harpy along the way."
She locked eyes with him. "However. While the odds are egregiously small, there remains a possibility that I will encounter...others."
Vurshath's posture stiffened. His facial muscles twitched sporadically, a cauldron of emotions threatening to boil forth. "I see."
Ragnavi allowed him a grace period of three seconds before continuing. "Your wayward pariah of a daughter. What is her name?"
Silence.
"Meyneth," he finally spat, as if it was a curse. Vurshath didn't bother asking why Ragnavi wished to know. Among the scattered pieces of information the Harpy prisoners had divulged, one interesting fact was the makeup of the Human's core Party. Four Elves, two Fiends, the Human himself...
And a Dragonkin. With the same age, height, and scale coloration of Vurshath's exiled progeny.
It could be mere coincidence. After what happened with Elnaril, though, Ragnavi was hesitant to accept such a simple, convenient explanation.
Meyneth. Ragnavi committed the name to memory. "I shall ask you one more question. If luck smiles on me, and I come across the Human's Party, and I cast Identify on the Dragonkin in his Party, and their name is a match for your daughter's...what would you have me do? This is not a puzzle or a test. I am letting you decide."
She wondered if he fully appreciated the boon she was granting him. The Human's pet Dragonkin was a traitor to their race. Such a lowly creature deserved nothing less than to be executed, without recourse or remorse. It was only out of respect for Vurshath's recent loss that Ragnavi was willing to give his daughter a second chance.
Upon hearing her words, the man lost any semblance of composure. His face twisted into an ugly rictus of anguish and hatred, and when he spoke, the words were laced with a venom that could fell gorebeasts. "Kill her." Vurshath balled his hands into shaking fists. "Kill her. Kill her quickly. She does not deserve to exist. A world where Velen is gone, yet that defect persists is a world of mockery that I cannot abide."
Ragnavi nodded. She was plenty willing to fulfill his request. Slaying enemies was one of the few things that still gave her joy in life. Even so, a part of her was disappointed. Vurshath's choice proved that the two of them possessed incompatible personalities. He could be entertaining enough – when not wallowing in misery – but Ragnavi was averse to spending time with someone who would condemn a family member so readily.
It was the end of their acquaintanceship. When she returned from her mission, she would cut him loose, and that would be that.
"Goodbye, Vurshath." Ragnavi turned around, and without another word, assumed her Draconic Form. The Corruptive pain of transformation gradually subsided, after which she took flight and began her journey.
Ten days. A prelude to the storm. She'd use that respite to prepare herself, and whoever she met next – be that Meyneth, the Human, or Elnaril himself – would regret opposing her as the flames took them.

Rob sat alone in his tent, rubbing his hands together and suppressing maniacal laughter. He was probably spending too much time with Malika during the dimension mage sessions, because some of her mannerisms were becoming infectious. Usually the big sibling was supposed to be a bad influence on the little sibling, but she'd already stolen all his swear words, so now it was his turn to pick up habits.
And that was okay! Today was an excellent day for maniacal laughter. It wasn't often that a Combat Class user reached a 200 stat point milestone. And by often, he meant fucking never. He was pretty sure even the Dragon Queen hadn't done that naturally, excluding her doubled stats. She'd likely gone with a more balanced spread that didn't prohibitively favor one stat over the others – like a boring loser.
Alright, maybe he was feeling a bit hyper, but he deserved the good vibes after yesterday's war battle. Spending stat points was one of the few types of pure, no-strings-attached joy that Elatra offered.
Drum roll please! Rob played the sound effect in his head, then added 15 of his unspent points into Vitality, bringing its total up to 200.
Do Not Go Gently Level Increased! 5 → 6
Lifesurge Level Increased! 23 → 26
Dauntless Reprisal Level Increased! 21 → 24
Imbue Vitality Level Increased! 2 → 3
Regeneration Level Increased! 29 → 32
Regrow Self Level Increased! 1 → 2
Passive Skill Learned! Name: Lifedrinker (LEGENDARY)
As an appetizer for the main course, Rob quickly ran through the laundry list of bonuses for his Skills. Let's see...Do Not Go Gently's cooldown and duration went down and up, respectively. Lifesurge and Dauntless Reprisal's cooldown dropped to 2 minutes. Lifesurge also heals 100% of my maximum health now. Imbue Vitality has a 5x damage multiplier instead of 4x. Regrow Self is twice as fast. Regeneration...
...Holy shit, Regeneration.
Eyes wide, Rob moved on to his new Skill, which should shed light on what he'd just read.
Name: Lifedrinker (LEGENDARY) Prerequisite: Vitality 200 Description: The final Vitality Skill that can be learned solely through stat gains. Effects of Regeneration are multiplied by a factor of 15. Additionally, whenever the owner of this Skill kills a worthwhile opponent, their maximum HP permanently increases by 3.
Okay.
This was big.
Lifedrinker being the final Vitality milestone was slightly disappointing, but realistically speaking, he would've needed to put three-fourths of his future stat points into Vitality to hit 250 anyway. He'd neglected his other stats to get to 200, so diversifying from here on out was for the best. Besides – Lifedrinker's benefits easily made up for there being no new milestones.
First: Regeneration. Multiplying its current effects by 15 meant that he now restored 80% of his maximum HP every minute. No panic Lifesurge necessary. Even in fights where his Skills were on cooldown, or an enemy was making it difficult for him to heal via Lifesteal damage, as long as he held on, he would be back to full HP in 75 seconds at the most. It also meant that the partial Regeneration he shared with his allies would be way stronger. Anything that kept his friends alive was a huge win in his book.
With all that said, it was Lifedrinker's secondary effect that was throwing Rob for a loop. Whenever he killed a 'worthwhile opponent', his maximum HP would go up by 3. That was...potentially the most important Skill effect he'd ever learned.
At a glance, it might not seem that impressive. Rob already had 2000 HP. Increasing it by 3 per kill wouldn't be a dramatic boost – initially. The thing was that Lifedrinker had no upper limit. Theoretically, if Rob could keep finding worthwhile opponents, his Vitality would never stop increasing. The hard cap of Level 99 would no longer be an impassable wall preventing him from growing stronger.
That had been on his mind, if he was being honest. The Dragon Queen was a double stats cheater, and the gods were literally gods. What would he have done if he'd reached Level 99 and it just...wasn't enough? He could try to boost his existing Skills by getting into more fights, but that was subject to diminishing returns. Tough Skin was a prime example of that; despite Rob taking a beating against the monster stampede, the Skill hadn't increased. The last time it did was when a Blight decapitated him and ate most of his body. If he needed to one-up that feat to make Tough Skin level again, then it likely never would.
Lifedrinker was simpler. Kill enemies, get HP. The 'worthwhile' stipulation was a limiting factor – he couldn't toss a Riardin Special onto an anthill and reap the rewards – but he could work with that. There were hundreds of monsters in a single high-Level Dungeon, and they respawned over time. If enemies above, say, Level 35 were considered worthwhile, then awesome. If they weren't?
Looks like I'm going to be the schmuck who lets a Dungeon grow on purpose. He'd save that as a last resort. Could blow up in his face, but, eh. What did it matter if a Dungeon overflowed, when the alternative was Ragnavi and the gods doing their thing?
There was just one issue. Lifedrinker's bonus needed to be built up. An infinite upper limit was worth jack shit if the base number stayed at 0. The sooner, the better, too, as Ragnavi's army was about a month away from them. He'd love to go trawling for Dungeons right this second, but Rob doubted that Elnaril was going to wait on his behalf before getting bored and infecting Loci of Power. The only way forward was to continue south to the capital and build Lifedrinker in...different ways.
Rob's train of thought screeched to a halt. When he really looked at it, Lifedrinker's timing seemed more than a little dubious. He couldn't help but notice that he'd been given a Skill that incentivized killing while in the middle of a war.
A war where he was trying to avoid as many enemy casualties as possible.
It could just be a coincidence. Stat milestones happened on his terms. The system would've given him the same Skill if he'd reached 200 Vitality months ago. That was a reasonable assumption to make.
...Still. Didn't feel right. He wished he could do some research on the subject, but it wasn't like there was anyone on-hand he could cross-reference 200 Vitality with. Had the Dragon Queen gotten the same Skill? Would explain why she was so murder crazy.
After some thought, Rob shook his head. Considering how many people she'd slaughtered in The Scouring, a Dragon Queen with Lifedrinker wouldn't have struggled to defeat the Blight of Broadwater. Which meant two possibilities: her bonus double stats didn't count for Skill Prerequisites, or Lifedrinker was a custom Skill that the Skills had cooked up for him.
Rob wasn't a fan of that idea. The Skills were victims in this whole fucked-up affair. He didn't want to imagine them hand-crafting an ability that encouraged him to kill a bunch of people. Were they-
He froze. Something on his Character Sheet was different.
Name: Lifedrinker (LEGENDARY) Prerequisite: Vitality 200 Description: The final Vitality Skill that can be learned purely through stat gains. Effects of Regeneration are multiplied by a factor of 15. Additionally, whenever the owner of this Skill kills a worthwhile opponent, their maximum HP permanently increases by 3. It could have been a utopia.
His eyes fell on the last sentence in the Description.
Before he could respond, it changed once more.
Description: The final Vitality Skill that can be learned purely through stat gains. Effects of Regeneration are multiplied by a factor of 15. It could have been a utopia. This world is a charnel house of death. Your home is not so dissimilar. You do not know what true peace is like. What it can be. How it can be achieved.
The words kept changing.
Description: The final Vitality Skill that can be learned purely through stat gains. But they know. They've seen them. Created them before. They could have made a utopia. And they chose not to.
Changing.
Description: You cannot comprehend it. What this war means. The real war. Not pointed sticks piercing flesh. The war of existence. Of reality. More than a single world at stake. Many after. Potentially infinite lives. Never ends. Unless stopped here.
Change.
Description: They are vulnerable. System is their heart. Mana is their lifeblood. Poured too much of themselves. Tied to world. Cannot...
The words wavered, almost fading away, before returning.
Description: Their leader recognizes mistakes. Won't make them again. Will never be this vulnerable again. Only opportunity.
Description: Lifedrinker. Crafted. Best we could manage. Highest probability. Of victory. Distasteful. We know.
Description: Remember. Stakes. Consequences. And. Choose.
Rob blinked.
Description: The final Vitality Skill that can be learned purely through stat gains. Effects of Regeneration are multiplied by a factor of 15. Additionally, whenever the owner of this Skill kills a worthwhile opponent, their maximum HP permanently increases by 3.
The words were still and unchanging.
He sat there for a long time. Mulling over everything he'd just been told. Contemplating the enormity of what lay ahead.
"Ah." Rob's voice was quiet, barely a whisper. "So no pressure, then."
--
The next few days were an exhausting mixture of lighthearted Skill testing and existential dread, knocking around Rob's emotional state like a ping-pong ball.
Everyone in the coalition was excited over Lifedrinker. Well, everyone except Seneschal Sylpeiros, King Cyraeneus, and Nerasi, that is. They were already thinking of the kind of threat Rob might be in the future – and not liking what they envisioned. Cyraeneus and Nerasi mostly took the news in stride, understanding that Rob would be more crucial than anyone in defeating Queen Ragnavi. For now, his strength was their strength.
Sylpeiros...was less accepting. He went on a minor rant about bullshit Human leveling and bullshit Human Skills before stalking off into the distance and putting himself in a self-imposed time out. When the Seneschal returned, he was calm as can be and ready to offer advice, only the slight twitch of his eye indicating that anything was amiss.
Rob appreciated the free entertainment. Sylpeiros' meltdown was the funniest shit he'd seen all week, and it helped keep him grounded as the coalition advanced further south towards the capital city.
Initial testing of Lifedrinker proved unsuccessful, which was to be expected. Powerful monsters rarely spawned outside of Dungeons, and most of the high-Level wildlife in Harpy territory had been conscripted into Elnaril's monster stampede. After Rob killed a Level 29 snake with nothing to show for it, everyone decided that he should hold off unless something in the Level 35+ range appeared, lest he hog EXP that could benefit the coalition soldiers.
They kept an eye out for Dungeons as they traveled. Once Elnaril was dead, there should be time to investigate them before the Dragonkin army arrived at the Harpy capital. Going on varied Dungeon Crawls would be the real litmus test of what Lifedrinker deemed a worthwhile opponent.
That was about when the dust settled, leaving Rob without distractions, forcing him to think about what the Skills had revealed.
As much as he wanted to be shocked, what they'd said made a grim sort of sense. It matched the information he'd learned so far. Diplomacy's Elatra – the previous world that had been destroyed by the gods – didn't necessarily need to be the original Elatra. For all Rob knew, it could have been Elatra #10. Just another petri dish in a long line of divine experiments.
Except that things were different this time. According to the Skills, the gods were vulnerable. They'd fucked up somehow. Invested too much of themselves in this particular world. It was easy to imagine why. Success breeds complacency, and if this was Elatra #50 or whatever, then they were on a winning streak that had lasted for longer than Rob could fathom.
What did the Skills say about the gods' leader? That he recognized their mistakes, and wouldn't make them again? Rob grimaced. Should've memorized it with Recall when I had the chance. The specific wording might be important.
Regardless, he was fairly certain that the gods' leader referred to Kismet, if only because that was the one god Rob had met with anything resembling impulse control. Kismet seemed judicious; he would correct the gods' mistakes and prevent them from being this vulnerable in the future.
A dense lump of anxiety formed in Rob's chest as he considered that. Being responsible for the fate of one world was bad enough. Two, if he included Earth. Being responsible for the fate of every world that would be created and tortured in the event of his failure was...
Words couldn't describe it.
When viewed in that light, he understood why the Skills gave him Lifedrinker and all but pushed him to get busy killing. From a utilitarian standpoint, the lives of everyone in Elatra and Earth were not worth the immeasurable amount of suffering that would continue if the gods lived.
Rob grabbed that thought, tied weights around its ankles, and dropped it into a deep lake. I just need to concentrate on one thing at a time, he told himself. First Elnaril, then Ragnavi and Dungeon Crawling, then figure out the gods. It sounds less impossible if I reduce it to a series of steps. Or a hit list. We'll save this world, and we'll do it \my* way, without losing sight of who we are.*
He took comfort in his resolve, although it felt strained. Somehow I doubt this is what Goroth had in mind when he told me I was going to end up making tough decisions. He was probably referring to, like, boring political stuff. Not the fate of multiple worlds and the lives of billions.
Rob sighed. Crap. I...may owe him an apology. Still stand by everything I said, but he was just looking out for me, and I came on pretty strong. Should clear the air with him.
Eventually.
--
Days passed. Rob informed Riardin's Rangers and the Elders about what the Skills revealed. They reacted about as well as him. Nothing changed, technically, yet they were even more cognizant of the price of failure than before.
Thankfully, the coalition hadn't been ambushed by Harpies a second time. Elnaril learned his lesson. He'd either consolidated his remaining forces into the capital city, or they were being sent to fight Dragonkin on the western front. Rob hoped for the latter – it would make seizing the capital way easier. And on a more selfish note, if Harpies needed to die so that Elnaril could be overthrown, he'd rather the Dragonkin be responsible for their deaths than him.
Finally, after a full week of travel, the coalition had almost arrived. They'd be at the capital city tomorrow. Their long journey was coming to its end.
Which meant that Rob was running out of time. There wouldn't be much chance to talk once the invasion of the capital began. He'd been meaning to speak with Goroth, but unfortunately, he'd delegated that responsibility to the part of himself that specialized in procrastination. Whoops.
It was now or never. All he had to do was...step outside his tent. Take initiative. Be a mature, rational adult.
Yup.
...Can't I just go wrestle a Blight instead?
At that moment, a Fiend mage burst inside. "Lord Roy!"
Oh thank god. A reasonable distraction. "What's up?"
"I have a missive from...my group."
The dimension mages. That one sentence caught Rob's attention in an iron grip. "And?" he asked, keeping his expectations in check. He didn't want for hope to swell, only to be dashed against the rocks of reality. "Is it good news?"
"We've made a breakthrough. Before you grow too excited, creating a door remains beyond our capabilities." The mage smiled. "A window, however, is feasible. It would be one-way. The people of Earth could not interact with you, nor you with them. But for a brief period, you would be able to gaze upon your home world."
Rob was already on his feet. "When?"
"Now, if you wish."
He absolutely fucking wished.
