Picking the 'right' sunscreen isn't as important as avoiding these 6 mistakes
2023.06.05 09:25 Gist_it Picking the 'right' sunscreen isn't as important as avoiding these 6 mistakes
Picking the right sunscreen is essential for skin protection, but avoiding these six mistakes can significantly improve its effectiveness.
Sunscreen alternatives: Many chemical sunscreens are absorbed into the bloodstream, prompting a safety review by the FDA; mineral sunscreens made from zinc oxide and titanium dioxide can provide a safer, non-irritating alternative. * Mineral sunscreens physically block UV light and are better for sensitive skin.
Proper sunscreen application: Applying enough sunscreen is just as important as its SPF; skimping on application is a common mistake. * Apply the equivalent of a shot glass (1.5 ounces) of liquid sunscreen to cover both body and face; reapply every 2 hours.
Make no assumptions: Higher SPF sunscreens don't last all day and need frequent reapplication. * Reapply even high SPF sunscreens every 2 hours, especially if swimming or sweating.
Be prepared for cloudy days: Clouds block only 20% of sunlight, making sunscreen necessary even on overcast days. * Store sunscreen in cool, dry places; avoid hot car trunks or glove boxes.
Additional sun protection: Use hats with broad brims, sunglasses with 100% UV protection, and UV-protective clothing. * Sunscreen is recommended for all ages and skin tones, except for babies under 6 months old.

2023.06.05 09:09 DaanBaas77 Passionformapping going dark june 12th
You've probably all heard about the reddit 3rd party cobtroversy, but passionformapping isn't going to accept posts on june 12th until june 14th. If you post anything, it will be saved on my laptop and posted on june 15th. In case you haven't heard, i copied this directly from
comedyheaven We’re going dark June 12th
Reddit making stupid financial decisions and killing their platform is nothing new, we’ve all been through this before. We’re going dark June 12th for a bit.
What’s going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you’re not a mobile user and don’t use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn’t only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What’s the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren’t able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn’t something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn’t the goal, and it isn’t the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they’ve broken, we’ll use the community and buzz we’ve built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?
1. Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post. 2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /ModCoord. 3. Boycott and spread the word…to Reddit’s competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support! 4. Don’t be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

2023.06.05 09:04 drsaritarao1 How to Protect Your Heart from the Summer Heat?
| The summer's heat and humidity may seem like a blessing after the long, cold winter. However, additional factors come into play as temperatures rise. The importance of wearing sunscreen and consuming enough water rises as the temperature outside climbs. We also need to be careful when exercising and in the heat. Those who suffer from cardiovascular disease should prioritize developing healthy routines. Reasons Your Heart Might Hate the Temperature No matter how much you enjoy in sun's gentle warmth, your heart may have other plans. The human body's natural cooling mechanism, the heart, must work harder when the temperature outside rises. When the ambient air temperature exceeds your core body temperature, your heart may pump three times as much blood as it would on a cool day if you were working in the garden. For a healthy person, the incentive to increase heart rate and exert more force may be negligible. However, if you already have a cardiac issue, this boost in cardiovascular output could be fatal. Let's review some measures to keep your heart healthy while enjoying summertime activities :- Remember to drink water. - If you want to keep your heart healthy this summer, staying hydrated is a must. Loss of body fluids through sweating puts the cardiovascular system under stress. Staying hydrated throughout the day is essential, even if you're not thirsty. Dehydration can occur by consuming sugary drinks or too much caffeine. Be hydrated by drinking water frequently, and keep a water bottle on hand for any outdoor activities. https://preview.redd.it/7rd0apeye54b1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dae6d57e3d93df36a0b009ea6e1ee629e926b98 Plan Your Time Outside Carefully- The effects of heat on your heart can be significantly reduced by carefully planning your outside activities. Try to schedule your sessions for cooler times of the day. However, the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the sun is at its fiercest and is not conducive to physical activity. With this strategy, you can take part in outdoor activities without worrying as much about potential heat-related issues. Put on Appropriate Attire - Your heart needs protection from the summer heat, and wearing the right clothes will help. Choose thin, breathable materials that will let air circulate and sweat evaporate. Light- colored, loose-fitting clothing can help you stay cooler by deflecting some of the sun's heat. Wearing sunglasses and a hat with a wide brim will help keep the sun from damaging your eyes and face. Applying sunscreen consistently will help protect your skin from the sun's harmful rays. Alter the way you usually work out.- Regular exercise is essential for heart health, but you should take certain precautions during summer exercise. Think about walking, swimming, or cycling that are easier on your heart and lungs. These activities improve stamina and cardiovascular health without undue stress on the heart. If the heat outside becomes unbearable, you may always look into other choices for staying active, such as joining a gym, taking fitness courses, or working out using home workout DVDs. Staying in a regulated setting allows you to continue your exercise regimen without interruption. Honor Your Physical Self - In the summer heat, it's essential to tune in to your body and adjust your workout accordingly. Get medical treatment immediately if you have chest pain, dizziness, palpitations, or shortness of breath. You may have heart stress if you experience these symptoms and take a break. Get medical help right once if your symptoms persist or worsen. Seek places with air conditioning. - Spending time in cool, air-conditioned spaces during the hot summer benefits your health and comfort. Don't suffer the heat at home; instead, seek out air-conditioned public spaces like stores, libraries, and community centers. These areas are well-ventilated and cold, making them ideal for unwinding and relieving stress on the heart. Please Talk to Your Doctor - If you have cardiac problems or are considering making significant changes to your exercise program, you should talk to your doctor first. They'll be able to tailor their assistance to fit your requirements exactly. Your primary care physician may recommend medication changes, additional precautions, or a referral to a cardiologist for further examination. Essential Advice - Consult your doctor about how much fluids are safe to consume and whether or not your medication dosage needs to be adjusted if you have heart failure and have been ordered to limit your water intake.
- To avoid dehydration, people with diabetes should talk to their doctors and nutritionists before relying on fruit drinks or eating excessive amounts of fruit on their own.
- Those with hypertension or heart disease should avoid beverage flavorings rich in salt.
- Never stop taking a prescription medication suddenly or alter the amount you're taking without first talking to your doctor.

2023.06.05 08:56 Sprinkledinkle69 Perception
Sometimes I stress about my career because my old LPO still speaks on my name in a bad light and she’s a master manipulatokiss ass to senior enlisted/officers. I know there 3 sides to every story..hers, mines, and the truth. However I feel like if I put a package for LDO, SOY, etc and someone that she influenced would think of me as such. I’m in a different command and flourish, but what if someone she knows next command or that’s reviewing boards just goes by her word of mouth?? I’m also a firm believer of god don’t like ugly and people see people for who they are.

2023.06.05 08:22 kitsune Head's up: June 12th protest of Reddit's API changes.
This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th-14th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th,
many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action. What can you do as a user?
- Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /ModCoord.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

https://reddit.com/link/1414cr6/video/s7g6ndzq354b1/player
Human longevity biotech is one of my key goals in my career.
There is no point in studying the existing biotechnologies too deeply, since brand-new, never-before-existed biotechnologies must be invented to enable the human longevity biotech that I envision, the human body anti-aging and deaging biotechnologies.
I don't see a need to perform experiments with the existing biotechnologies; I need to perform experiments with the never-before-existed biotechnologies that I will develop and commercialize.
Nonetheless, I do need to be aware of how the existing biotechnologies work, so that I can think about how to improve or revolutionize them for creating the next-generation biotechnologies that will enable the human longevity biotech.
A quick advertisement before I continue on this topic. You can invest in my startup company with as little as US$100, for supporting advancing AI, robotics, biotech, and nuclear-fusion powered outer space tech. Visit

2023.06.05 08:05 thepiematrix Dobsonian Telescopes India
| Dobsonian telescopes are popular among amateur astronomers for their simplicity, affordability, and large aperture. They are named after their inventor, John Dobson, who introduced the design in the 1960s. Dobsonian telescopes are known for their easy-to-use altazimuth mount and their large light-gathering mirrors, which make them great for observing deep-sky objects like galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters. When purchasing a Dobsonian telescope in India, consider factors such as the aperture size (which determines the amount of light the telescope collects), the focal length (which affects the magnification), and the overall build quality. It's also important to check for additional accessories like eyepieces, finderscopes, and collimation tools that may be included with the telescope. Remember to read reviews, compare prices, and consider your observing preferences and budget before making a final decision. In this blog post, we will unveil effective methods to identify callers without paying a single cent, empowering you to solve the mystery behind those anonymous phone calls. https://preview.redd.it/hv897i04154b1.png?width=755&format=png&auto=webp&s=a68e200c38032768468e495c23c382661956e4a1 - The Need to Uncover Unknown Callers: Unknown or spam calls can be inconvenient, intrusive, or even potentially harmful. Identifying the callers allows you to make informed decisions about answering or blocking calls, ensuring your privacy and peace of mind.
- Utilize Reverse Phone Lookup Services: Reverse phone lookup services are powerful tools that help you uncover the details of unknown callers. Here's how to use them effectively:
a) Online Reverse Phone Lookup Directories: Several websites offer free reverse phone lookup services. Simply search for "reverse phone lookup" on your preferred search engine and choose a reputable directory. Enter the unknown phone number, and the service will display information associated with that number, such as the caller's name, location, or even social media profiles. b) Mobile Apps: There are free mobile apps available that provide reverse phone lookup functionality. Install one of these apps from your device's app store and enter the unknown number to retrieve caller information. Popular options include Truecaller, Hiya, and Whitepages. - Leverage Social Media Platforms: Social media platforms can serve as valuable resources for identifying unknown callers. Follow these steps:
a) Copy the Phone Number: Copy the unknown phone number from your call history or messaging app. b) Social Media Search: Visit your preferred social media platform (such as Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter) and paste the phone number into the search bar. If the caller has associated their phone number with their social media profile, you may find relevant information, including their name and profile picture. - Seek Assistance from Online Communities: Online communities, such as forums or message boards, can be excellent sources for uncovering the identity of unknown callers. Engage with these communities by providing the phone number and asking for assistance in identifying the caller. Users may share their experiences or knowledge to help you solve the mystery.
- Use Search Engines Effectively: Search engines can provide valuable insights into unknown phone numbers. Follow these tips:
a) Enter the Phone Number: Input the unknown phone number, including the area code, into the search engine's search bar. b) Review Search Results: Review the search results for any relevant information associated with the phone number. You might find links to websites, online directories, or discussion threads that shed light on the caller's identity. Conclusion: Uncovering the identity of unknown callers doesn't have to come at a cost. 2023.06.05 07:44 UseApprehensive1102 New Card Reviews: Diving Bell Spider!
| Hello! It's time to review this aquatic Spider! You how how the new format goes, so let's go! Energy: 4 Power: 27 Rarity: Rare (Basic) Special Ability: Support Bubble (When played, your cards in hand gain +13 Power until played.) Anyways, here is a creepy swimming aquatic spider. This used to be a lot more OP and specialized back in the day, with all members of its collection in your deck gaining Power until played when its ability activates. Now, we have this great generalist. Its buff is still powerful though, 23 PPE until played for a card of this rarity, without any conditions, specializations or recoil whatsoever is great. Since it always activates its ability anyways when played, it is always going to have 10 PPE by itself, which is a good breaking point. Being generalist and having a great duration to its ability also means that it isn't afraid of the same debuffers that befall most Oceans & Seas cards. Sure, Duct Tape and Fallingwater can befall some members of its collection like Diving Beetle, Apple Snail and European Medicinal Leech, but will falter against a pure generalist with "until played" buffs and a mixed deck, unless they have Lock. The buff lasting until the cards buffed are played also opens up new niches. It can be a way to complement your Start-trigger stockpilers, whether they are Basic (European Medicinal Leech, Melatonin) or Limited (Traffic Lights, Keg). It basically requires absolutely no setup, viable even on Casual without any prior Energy Management. Of course, it is still vulnerable to generalist debuffers. Hammerhead Shark, Virginia Hall, Loch Ness Monster and Loki can still break down your hand if you are not careful. Additionally, the rework means that Molluscs, Worms and Water Bugs are now much weaker as a collection, requiring Cowrie and Sea Angel to even remotely work, which is certainly not enough to make the collection in a deck viable, not to mention the Japanese Bobtail... Overall, this card's use is essentially simple and straight to the point, and requires no setup whatsoever. And it can work on any card, thus granting this Rare a B+. submitted by UseApprehensive1102 to cuecardgameAvid [link] [comments] |
2023.06.05 07:37 utlsolarindia 11 Essential Tips for Solar System For Home
| 11 Essential Tips for Solar System For Home With the growing concerns over climate change and the increasing cost of traditional energy sources, many homeowners are turning to solar power as a sustainable and cost-effective solution. Solar systems for homes have become more accessible and affordable in recent years, making it an attractive option for those who want to harness the power of the sun. If you're considering installing a solar system in your home, here are 11 essential tips to help you make the most of this renewable energy source. Assess your energy needs: Start by evaluating your household's energy consumption. Examine your electricity bills to understand how much energy you typically use. This will give you an idea of the size and capacity of the solar system you'll need to meet your energy requirements. Conduct a site analysis: Before installing solar panels, assess your property to determine the best location for maximum sunlight exposure. Consider factors such as roof orientation, shading from trees or nearby buildings, and the angle of inclination. A professional solar installer can help you with this evaluation. Understand solar panel types: Solar panels come in different types, including monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and thin-film. Each has its own advantages and price points. Research and compare the different options to choose the one that suits your needs and budget. Work with a reputable installer: Hiring a qualified and experienced solar installer is crucial for a successful solar system installation. Look for certifications, reviews, and recommendations to ensure you're working with a reliable professional who can handle the installation and maintenance of your solar panels. Consider your roof's condition: Assess the condition of your roof before installing solar panels. If your roof is old or in need of repair, it's advisable to address those issues before installing the solar system. This will prevent any potential damage or complications during the installation process. Evaluate your financial options: Solar panel systems can be a significant investment, but there are various financial options available to make it more affordable. Research federal and local incentives, tax credits, and financing programs that can help offset the initial costs. Additionally, consider leasing or power purchase agreements (PPAs) if purchasing the system outright is not feasible. Optimize energy efficiency: Before installing solar panels, focus on improving the energy efficiency of your home. Simple steps such as installing LED lights, upgrading insulation, sealing air leaks, and using energy-efficient appliances can reduce your overall energy consumption, making your solar system more effective. Monitor and maintain your system: Regular monitoring and maintenance of your solar system are crucial to ensure its optimal performance. Keep an eye on the energy production and promptly address any issues. Clean the panels periodically to remove dust, dirt, and debris that can reduce their efficiency. Educate yourself about net metering: Net metering is a billing arrangement that allows you to sell excess electricity generated by your solar system back to the grid. Understand how net metering works in your area and how it can benefit you in terms of reducing your energy costs. Be patient with the return on investment: Investing in a solar system for your home is a long-term commitment. While the initial cost may seem high, remember that solar panels have a lifespan of 25 to 30 years. Over time, the savings on your energy bills can help you recoup the investment and even generate profits. Spread the word: As a solar system owner, share your experience with friends, family, and neighbours. Help spread awareness about the benefits of solar energy and inspire others to consider renewable energy sources for their homes. Installing a solar system for your home is a significant step towards reducing your carbon footprint and saving on energy costs. submitted by utlsolarindia to u/utlsolarindia [link] [comments] |

This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan? On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy.
