I’m a truck driver, so I’m often going down the road poppin’ pills, (nothing good - when you get old, they give you a bunch of different pills to take).
So, anyway, I had one pill bottle in one hand, and I had just taken another pill out of a different bottle and went to pop it in my mouth with the left hand. I forgot the top was off of the bottle in my left hand, so all the pills flew out when I made this quick movement. All I could do is be careful not to move my feet till I could pull over, so I didn’t crush any on the floor.
Eventually I came to a rest area where I could stop and try to pick up all the pills that were no doubt scattered all over my seat and the floor. But when I started looking, I couldn’t even find one pill! WTF?
After searching for a while, I decided to look in the breast pocket of my t-shirt to see if any went there. In what can only be described as a (very) minor miracle, they had all landed in my pocket. Every single one.

2023.06.10 23:08 WillowBell_Art I saw a kitten lose its life a few days ago and I can't stop blaming myself or seeing it.

As the title was suggest, I saw a kitten lose its life 3 days ago in a very graphic way. I'm going to spare everybody the extreme details in this story, as I don't really wish to make anyone upset nor see it in my mind's eye again any more than I already have to.
But my partner and I were leaving Marshalls when we saw a small little Calico coloured blur dart amongst the parked cars away from some people walking. My partner and I got to the four-way stop as it darted across it and under a car waiting at the opposite side of the 4 way. It all happened so fast, and the 4 way was hectic with kids crossing it as well as cars, but my brain only registered what happened after the car it had apparently run under, moved and left there was the kitten, but in distress now. I made a decision that I fully regret, and that was to LEAP out of our stopped vehicle and run across the parking lot 4 way to pick it up off the ground. Which exposed me to an up and close view of it's graphic condition. My brain for some reason thought it would be fine. As I moved it off the pavement I heard it's last breath, however. I was in a fair deal of shock as I moved it to the back of the building away from the people on the crosswalk and cars that didn't seem to care and placed it on the ground and quickly walked away in shock. It wasn't until my partner parked the truck and checked the kitten out himself that I finally lost it and started crying, the situation finally hitting. It took quite a while to compose myself and once I stopped sobbing we cleaned my hands and legs up of blood and once we were done with that decided to take the kitten home and bury it in the desert.
However since this happened, the image of this kitten continues to replay in my mind and sounds, as well as a sense of deep guilt feeling like I should have leapt out of the vehicle the second I saw it rather than watch. Guilt over the fact that since moving to a city filled with many feral stray cats, I've almost become numb to seeing them or reacting to them. I almost blame myself because of that mentality, which is definitely one I never had until moving to so many stray heavy states. I don't think I've gone a day since without crying. I actually really wanted a Calico as well, which makes this suck more. At this point I just hope the intrusive memories and blaming vernacular changes as the experience fades.

I wasn’t sure should I use story or memories. It’s both.
I was and haven’t been taught by not talking to strangers or saying no because it’s inappropriate. I was at my grandparents house. It takes about 8-9 hours drive in the middle of nowhere. There’s a gravel and dirt road in a long winding road. There’s trees everywhere. I usually lay down in the backseat. Sometimes I can fall asleep and sometimes not because it’s not a smooth ride. I saw several random houses and cross roads on the way by the time we turned right, then I knew we are there. It is just a second house on the left. The land was huge. My grandfather does personal vegetables garden and had several apple trees in a row. My grandmother does canned vegetables. My favorite: homemade apple butter! I loved them.
I usually find a similar age girl to play with. She lives across the street but like me, she comes to visits to her grandmother so sometimes I get lucky to see her and sometimes not. This time, she wasn’t there. I usually take a walk down the dead end road and back. There’s total 6 houses down that road but they are far apart from each other.
One sunny day, I was walking down the road. I was on the right side of the road. First time, I saw a picked up white truck. He pulled over and there was a white man in a driver seat. He was sliding over to the passenger seat and open the door. I stepped a few steps away from the truck. He got out and stood up. He grabbed a map from the glove department and he opened it. I could not remembered what he said. I told him I’m at my grandparents house and I do not know where’s the area. I told him that I can get my dad to help you with the direction. He didn’t say anything. He just stood there and he shaking the map paper and made his head gesture to get me look at the map. I glanced just for a moment. I do not know how to read a map. I haven’t been introduced to read the map. All I see was green with white lines. As I glanced down, that man leaned over and I got spooked and stepped backwards again. I repeated of what I said that I can run over to get my dad. He wasn’t happy about it. He took his time to fold the map. I took another step back. He was putting his map back and then closed the passenger door. He walked around slowly and went in the driver seat. I walked backward again because I wasn’t sure what’s he’s planning to do. He just made three point turned and left.
Was I really almost kidnapped? What made him not trying to make an effort? I mean, we were almost standing next to each other. He could grabbed me without even showing the map. He didn’t even bother to wait until I get my dad to help for directions. Again, was I almost kidnapped?

I would love any advice you all can provide. I (F49) have been married to my wife (F46) for six years. She was diagnosed with bipolar in her early 30's, more recently changed to unipolar depression. She's been on maybe 15 different meds since we've been together. I have tendencies towards wanting to be a fixer. When we got together, her finances were a mess: old debt, defaulted student loans, owed child support. Over the years I've paid off all that. She worked for maybe 5 months when we were first dating. She was just so unhappy about her work, I agreed to support her and let her stay home. Things just always seem to escalate. We bought a house in the country. Cool. Nice. Then her inlaws needed a place to stay. So they moved in. Then her teenage niece needed a place to stay. So we gave the niece our bedroom and moved into a yurt in the yard. There's been numerous instances of her committing to things and not following through and leaving me holding the bag. She's moved her young adult brother in twice. Both times, I was very clear he must work and support himself. Both times he refused to get a job, mooched off us (me) for months, and finally left spreading all sorts of lies about me. He crashed his truck one night, freaked out on the cop (probably high on LSD), and landed in jail. She's still pissed at me for not bailing him out. I currently have two jobs. We had discussed trying to flip a foreclosure house. I really felt like I didn't have time and wasn't interested. She painted a lovely picture. We would work on it three days a week together. The inlaws would help. It would be a family project. I agreed and bought the house. I think she's been down there twice in the six months we've owned it. We have this big property in the country. She never lifts a finger to do yard work. The house is disgusting. She hoards trash, dirty dishes, half eaten food.
I'm burned out and exhausted and really at the end of my rope. One of my jobs, a small business that I run with a partner, has started to flounder and needs to close. I asked my wife in April to get a job and help support us while I find something different. She did find a part time job. Her third day, she quit. Since then, her moods have really deteriorated. I think she initially thought it would be easy to get a good job, and realizing things are hard has been an ego hit. One of her common things is that she has health phobia. She gets afraid that something is wrong with her health and will obsess, gather way too much medical data, and then dump it on me. I'm in healthcare. She will barrage me with data and then get really upset when I tell her she's fine. Two weeks ago, she left after an argument with me saying she needs to call her psychiatrist and her saying her mental health is fine and she has some nebulous physical ailment. She asked to meet with a relationship counselor, which I thought sounded fine. We meet with the counselor, and she goes all Scarlet O'Hara about her health and how I don't believe her and how dare I ask her to help out mowing the grass when she's "so sick".
I'm just not really sure where to go with this. I love her, and I believe her when she says she loves me. I know that her depression does interfere with her ability to do things. I also feel like she's kind of gotten to think of me a bit as an ATM. Realistically, her behavior of committing to things and not following through predates me, but it's falling heavily on me and I'm cracking under the burden. It seems just impossible to set limits with someone who is convinced they can't do anything, especially after seven years of me giving too much and not setting proper limits. Anyone experienced something similar? Found things that worked or didn't?
