I know how some might react, how could he even say this? When it's so obvious? A woman could just ask a random stranger man for sex and get it, a man needs to be 6 ft, muscular, handsome, rich and confident to even be noticed by women, so how could men have it easier? Well, because they have it easier. It's easy to explain why. Let us first define what "easy in dating" means: It means getting what you want. In dating, these would be the following things:
Now let's get throught it.
(1) Access to satisfying sexual encounters
So here we already see that women have higher barriers than men. In short: If there's a man who wants to have casual sex and there's a woman who wants to have casual sex, the woman has it more difficult to get it. If a woman wants to have a satisfying sexual encounter, she has to stop being nervous about flirting with a stranger man, be able to feel safe around him in a sexual encounter, be more responsible (or risky) about avoiding pregnancy and STD, make the man care about her pleasure, be less concerned about being judged. A man has to stop being nervous about flirting with a stranger woman and approach enough women. So there are more barriers for women than men - yes, women have it more difficult to find a satisfying sexual encounter than men. You can see this in many women saying online how they would like to have casual sex but have trouble to find men they find safe and can expect to care about their pleasure. Apart from the fact that most women are very nervous around the topic, which is the biggest barrier for both men and women, yet somehow only shy male nerds get empathy and shy women are largely ignored in the debate, they literally don't exist.
There's one thing that is often mentioned in the debate: That women supposedly have extremely high standards for casual sex (tall, muscular, good-looking, rich). This is completely false. Everyone who has been in a club or just around many people know that average and even below-average men can be promiscuous. There is no data that backs up claims that the most desirable men have the highest amount of sexual partners:
It's very clear that the amount of sexual partners among men is not correlated with what women find the most desirable, it's correlated with the men who put the most effort in getting laid, which are the most extraverted and with a high sociosexuality (the same is true for women). The people who are the least nervous about flirting with strangers and who are the most outgoing, drink a lot of alcohol and have low standards for sexual partners are obviously the people who have the most sex. The belief that men have to be tall, muscular, good-looking and rich to be promiscuous while every women has it extremely easy is a myth of the manosphere.
(2) Access to dates/romantic relationships
This could look like men have it more difficult, as young men are more likely to be single than young women, and many emphasize that men have to do all the hard stuff: Asking out, pay for dates, initiate sex and finally make the relationship official. But it's not true.
Let's look at the data: A Pew survey about young men and women (18-29 years old) and said that 63% of men but only 34% of women are single. This number is almost certainly false, as it doesn't correlate with multiple other surveys that show a difference of 10-20% in rates of singleness among young men and young women (disfavoring young men), like the American Perspective Survey, and almost all the gap is in the "married" or "cohabitating" category (so no Chad harems). In the General Social Survey, we can look at the singleness gap betwen 18-29 year-old women and 20-31 year-old men, the difference is only 2%. So the difference in singleness rates among young men and young women is most likely caused by more young women dating slightly older men than themselves. But now to the plot point: At older age, women are more likely to be single. This is true for women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. I know what you might think, who cares about being single at these ages? But of course it's not true, if no one would care, men wouldn't want to marry again after being divorced at old age. And men are more likely to remarry than women, and they marry on average younger women, so that older women have it more difficult to date than older men. Which means: Who is more likely to be single? At young age, men, at older age, women; so it's not clear to say who has it better.
But men have to ask out, pay for dates, initiate sex and make the relationship official, so men have much more hurdles in getting access to dates and relationships, right? Not really. First, you are talking about a social norm that seems to disfavor men while ignoring a social norm that might disfavor women: The fact that women put more effort in their looks. Now you might answer: "This benefits women! Being attractive is good for women!" And there is the whole drama: I could now say "Asking out is beneficial for men! They don't have to wait, they decide to shoot their shot!" You can look at both social norms for the genders (men as the intiators, women as the ones who put more effort in their looks) as disfavoring the genders, or benefitting them. At the end of the day, it's not clear which social norm is more disfavoring, it depends highly on the person. And of course, there are many women who do initiate things with men (and no, not "only with Chads") and many men who do put a lot of efforts in their looks, so it's not like these social normas are unchangeable. The only ones who will have it always more difficult are the socially awkward people (men and women) and the unattractive people (women and men).
(3) The outcomes of romantic relationships
The "access" part is one thing, the outcomes part is more important. And here, things look very clear: Men have better outcomes than women in romantic relationships.
So this is very clear, romantic relationships have the better outcomes for men. Surely everyone, including women, benefits from a good relationship, yet men do it on average more. That likely explains why men remarry at higher rates than women; why the men's complaints about the dating market are mostly about not getting dates or being divorced (incels, MGTOW), while women mostly complain about things that happen inside of relationships/marriages; why partnered men in general live healthier than single men. The only thing that might disfavor men and count as "outcome" of relationships are things like alimony and custody. But these things have been extremely exaggerated by Redpillers, most men are not getting "destroyed" by this, so it does not come close to all the benefits that men in relationships experience compared to women.
(4) Conclusion
Men have it easier in dating. The people who think the complete opposite and talk about "female privilege" in dating are utterly wrong. They only see the things that (supposedly or actually) disfavor men, exaggerate them and ignore all things that disfavor women (or even say that they're actually beneficial). They believe: "Men who are not 6ft tall, muscular, good-looking and rich have it impossible to get casual sex while every woman has it extremely easy; when men want relationships they have to do all the approaching, still women prefer to share the Chads instead of giving average men a chance; and if she gives you a chance she could divorce you at anytime and take away the kids and your money." The reality is: Men don't have it any more difficult than women to get casual sex (and by the way, I didn't even mention prostitution), young men are more often single than young women but at old age it's the other way around, and men do benefit more from romantic relationships than women. Everything combined, it's fair to say that men have it easier in dating, as they are more likely than women to get what they want.
TL;DR: Men have it easier in access to satisfying sexual encounters, roughly equal in access to dates/romantic relationships and have better outcomes in romantic relationships, there is a male privilege in dating.

  • The new contract also states that I have no duties or responsibilities and must comply with all the school's requests without question.
--The ability of foreigners to endure abuse is astounding. All contracts include nullifying language that reverts power back to the owner to make the job description whatever they want it to be. This particular person decided to make it crystal clear in writing. What a total jerk!

This is objectively the most toxic school I've worked for. You will hear complaining from all the teachers and be surrounded with negative energy here.
-you are obligated to create your own lesson plans for 6-7 subjects every week and get it approved. But you will not receive anywhere near enough "prep.time". I made about 27 lesson plans per week (when the head teacher had all the lesson plans of the previous teacher).
-you will work long hours (you work 20+ hours a month more than a normal hagwon) and ********* will pressure you to work outside of those hours with marking grades, checking homework, replying to parent emails
--Is this a strategy of "Keep the foreigner constantly busy?" or is it pure stupidity? Not every class needs a full-blown lesson plan, and it should already be on file for that book from the previous teacher. A lesson PLANNER or a short summary of what pages, games, projects you are going to do for that class is appropriate, and if anyone wants to know the full procedure, they can look up the lesson plan on file and see for themselves. There is no need to do this for every class, once done, it's done forever. It's a sad story of stupid people demanding stupid things.

This hagwon has to be rewarded for being one of the worst places imaginable. I have read many posts from the blacklist and this hagwon embodies almost all the things people have complained about in one place. I want to warn anyone from ever stepping foot into this establishment. It is quite literally the WORST place.
How? Why?
Lets start from the beginning of my contract where apparently they changed the schedule from teaching 5-6 MK classes to suddenly teaching 8 without any breaks other than the 50 MINUTES lunch that is cut short due to all 10 classes taking kids to the bathroom at the same time. So your 50 minutes is really maximum 40-43. Also when we say you teach 8 classes for MK, it is ALL YOU! The 'korean teacher' is not a teacher at all, they are rarely in the classroom and when they are they will offer little to no help whatsoever. It will be you and up to 12 kids by yourself for the entire time. Please get ready to teach, craft and disciple all by yourself.
Second, Please don't have an expectations for reasonable deadlines. They will tell you the day before if you are lucky that you need to prepare or do something for an event. For example, we had sports day on wednesday, at 5:37pm on tuesday they send a message saying all teachers must wear a white t-shirt and blue jeans. Or they will change plans and expect Foreign teachers to just be able to do it magically. All these 'events' are glorified photo opts for the parents anyway, they don't care about the kids or teachers. Just about looking good like we have fun. Not the case at all.
Going back to the 8 classes of MK, that is not the end of your day. No, then you get a 15 minute break from 2:35 to 2:50 and now you get to teach 4 more classes again for Elementary, by yourself. With a 5 minute breaks between classes. It is so mentally draining as well, the kids levels and the material for the lesson are so incompatible it makes it near impossible to do well.

You can also kiss any kind of sickness away because you will NEVER peacefully take a day off to recover. You will be bombarded with messages asking you to visit a doctor, come in for a certain time, explain specifically what is wrong with you and how taking a day off is not the korean standard while your korean 'helpers' are allowed to take 2 weeks off for a honeymoon or entire days off for a stomach ache. God forbid you have surgery though, you should go to work immediately after.
There is so much more i want to say and need to say but this post is already WAY too long. But please if you take one thing away from this. Please make it,
DO NOT WORK FOR RISE BUCHEON.

I regrettably would like to submit Twinkle Mapo to the blacklist. I do want to clarify that this is a franchise of the original company, so as far as I am concerned, it isn't an accurate reflection of Twinkle in its entirety.
While the curriculum has its flaws, it is overall fun to work with and allows a freedom of how to teach in class. However, this is the only thing linked to the original company. At Mapo, management became very particular about how each subject was taught, at what times and in what order. This micromanaging made it very difficult for teachers to really engage with students and the topics. Management (particularly one person) is also very choosy about what is done during prep time, despite the fact that teachers are given an abundance of tasks to do such as working on brand new curriculum for a different school, long messages to parents, science or fiction projects, interviewing students, homework help, and reading novels for prep, they are told that the 90 minutes a day is enough.
Management does well with gaslighting. When showing concern about not having enough prep time, teachers have been told they complain too much. As well as management saying "I don't like it when teachers talk about their rights." when discussing adequate break time, where to fit 9 teachers for lunch in the break room, or being overworked. ****************** ***************** **************************** *******************. Along with that, management does well with pitting teachers against one another by calling single individuals into the office and stating things such as "All the other teachers tell me you make them uncomfortable." when many times that very teacher was the one people sought out for help and guidance. As an example, I was personally told by management that I was seen fighting with another teacher when in fact we were very close and never fought. This is an interesting tactic management uses to control teachers banding together to problem solve issues at the school that management refuses to address.
It's important to also consider the turnover rate. Within the first 15 months of opening, only 2 out of 9 teachers re-signed their yearly contracts with 2 ending their contracts early and a few of the others reporting that management was too toxic with micromanaging. Front desk has suffered tremendously as well with multiple quits in the last few months leaving those remaining scrambling to accommodate parents, kids, and lead management. It also says a lot that there have been 3 head teachers in the short time this branch has been open with literally a handful of months where teachers were refusing to take the title because that would mean working closely with management.
What started as an environment that had growing pains has become toxic and distressing for many teachers resulting in teachers having stress related health problems. It is an unfortunate to report this, but as a previous teacher I would hate to see anyone step into this environment without proper warning.

It was literally the worst job I've ever had and I've worked at a few hagwons and had prior teaching experience.
  1. They lie to you about what the school is going to be like at the interviews. They make it seem so easy going and fair. It is the exact opposite. They are constantly watching you, complaining about things, calling you into the office because you aren't doing things the exact way they want you to, belittling you, bullying you, and causing so much stress you want to quit.
  2. When you first start working you will stay at least 3 hours later than your working hours for at least a month because of the amount of work they give you. There is not enough time in the day to do it all and they have unrealistic expectations about it getting done. This pattern will repeat itself many times throughout the year but they do not care and you won't get paid overtime.

  4. There is not enough time in the day or the classroom period to complete all the work required of you. It's actually crazy how they think you can cover that amount of work in a short hour and a half to 45 min session. If you don't complete it they call you into the office, belittle you, tell you that you’re a bad teacher and need to manage your time better. The only issue is, there is literally not enough time!!!

There is so much more to write and I wish I could just stress with words how awful this job was. Please avoid it at all costs. It will make your time in Korea absolutely miserable.

The worst thing about this school is the fact you don’t think it’s initially bad and you’re made to feel somewhat comfortable in the beginning stages . But eventually you’ll find this school is literally hell on earth. I am not opposed to hard work , however, I am opposed to unnecessary work that is not contractual. This school will MILK you for everything you’ve got with absolutely minimal pay. You will be given ridiculous tasks that serve almost no purpose and are not concerned with education but purely for authoritative pleasing. The gaslighting is what makes this place even worse, you will genuinely be made to feel crazy for having issues with things that are actually reasonably wrong. Theres an insane level of favouritism here that has nothing to do with your teaching ability, instead, to do with how much rubbish you’re willing to put up with. They have broken so many rules and quite frankly, I don’t know how they’re still open. Moreover, the working environment is horrendous, there’s barely anytime to catch your breath and there’s no communal/team spirit. Without going into too much detail, there’s a lot of animosity and unforeseen fees at the end of contract too. It just really sucked and the only thing that will get you through is how amazing some of the kids are. Aside from that, it’s a subpar school with appalling management, disgraceful organisation and unnecessary non-contracted duties. You’ve been advised.

I take my seat next to the security officer, and begin to speak into the intercom. “Cease your aggression, predatory behavior from you lot will not be tolerated.'' The moment I speak through the intercom, the rioters seem to show offense to the idea of me calling the predatory. I continue, “You are transgressing on human institutions which are meant to improve your ways of life, and deter you away from the horrid practices of the Federation, your anti-human sentiment is unacceptable under new development. You are to disperse immediately, failure to comply will be met with defensive action against you.”

I checked to see the status of the defensive perimeter of the station, the turrets were loaded with the standard bean bag rounds and the water cannons were ready to fire highly pressurized water. The water heated quite a bit as well…

They did not cease… if anything they just got worse, they began to hurl rocks into the building. They were breaking several windows and seemed to be getting closer to the main door. I saw that a few had what seemed to be hair spray and lighters…

I nodded for the security officer to activate the defensive grid to rid us of this riot. I watched from the cameras as six turrets were revealed from their underground storage containers along the building and began to fire into the crowd. Bean bag rounds were fired from gatling turrets and launched tear gas from along the top into the largest parts of the crowd. The water turrets began to blast the crowd with heated water, blasting them back and causing many to drop their signs… They began to scream as the turrets began to fire, many in the crowd began to bolt out of the parking lot to escape the barrage of water and beanbags. Many were stumbling as they began to scramble and scatter. Once the smoke cleared, it revealed at least a dozen that were in the parking lot splayed out on the ground.
I got worried and figured the best course of action was to notify the paramedics regarding the riot. Maybe provide government officials with a recording of the riot as well… Not even until construction is completed… Fucking-...

2023.06.10 03:27 NickGuy77777 Top MC strains/preferred temps/top ball vape tips? Hoping there is a bit more sophistication in this sub...

Genuinely hoping people here know what's up a bit more than the other Aussie cannabis subs, and being that ball vapes aren't cheap/for beginners, I am hoping to get some good advice on the MC front and ball vape tips.
For me, Sativite Kannbi is the king of Aussie MC. Superbly Green Sunny vapes well, too, and Alfie MAC-1 but for me, Kannbi can't be beat. I do 610f on my B2 and can either do a microbowl in one hit fully or a bit more over 2-3 inhales, really savouring the flavour.
I 1000000% recommend 18mm vs 14mm as the airflow improvement is remarkable. I also fully recommend a pass through, either an adaptor or via an ash catcher with pass through.
I've only used the Ti shovelhead/standard diffuser but have ordered a high end glass bowl for my TKO I'm pumped for. I see a lot of people use wood bowls, so I'm keen to hear how those are.
What has everyone else found during their ball vape journey?

2023.06.10 03:24 CloudyMcRowdy '23 WRX or mk7 Golf R?

The R has 60k on it, DSG, they want 26.5k usd. WRX is a base model, brand new, 6-speed, 32k.
We are getting rid of the '22, civic sport hatch 6m, can't stand its lack of power, and mine must be a lemon or some bs because it's the worst standard trans ice ever driven, and some of the roughest suspension I've ever felt...
Looking for a sporty, fun-to-drive car, that's fairly reliable. I know the golf R is typically more reliable than the wrx, but I feel like if they were both babies then it'd be a pretty fair match-up. My wife wants an automatic, but wants the wrx more than the R, due to the awd in it. No cvt options at the dealer for 6+ months, and honda finally quit trying to screw me on my lease and they're going to buy it outright. So we have to act now, a golf R won't last more than a few days around here. Neither will a base model WRX.
Personally, I'm completely split. I dont care which one we get. Theyre both quick enough for me.
Wrx has a lot more room in the trunk, especially with passengers, and will be a bit better in the snow, which we get quite a bit of... But, the Golf R is auto. She can drive it. I've had a gti, and they're tame until you don't want it to be. The wrx seemed to be the same... golf r has a lot more options and a slightly lower price, but isn't available on a lease, and may cost more / month because of that. The 60k miles isn't a big deal, we max out at 10k per year, and the car is really only for the next few years, but we will likely keep the golf r til it dies if we buy it. WRX we would likely get rid of after the lease is up, if not sooner, to get an automatic.
I would love to hear what yall have to say. The subaru seems to be a little more practical, but has a lot less options, like built-in navigation, heated seats, back-seat vents, etc. And my 06 gti never had any electrical issues, and I beat tf out of it... so the extra comfort/luxury in the golf r evens them out in my eyes.

I watch as the town turns to grass, then water and trees beneath our shuttle. It was flying low as we prepped for todays extermination.
​
I went over the mental checklist I had prepared. We were dealing with an amphibious predator species that specialized in hunting in the water. While less lethal on land it was still dangerous due to massive teeth, sharp claws, and armor plating.
​
Equipment check:

Pistols left due to being unable to penetrate plates: check
​
P4 based solution to ensure burn on and under the water of the wetlands: check.
​
Heavy duty firesuits to protect against claw and P4 solution: check.
​
Long, thin variant of knife to get between plates: check.

Soon we were over the den of the predators. This group had killed a venlil male and… removed the arm of a female with him. They had gone out to the wetlands to be together in secret only to have been attacked. This species did not normally eat venlil and typically lived deep in the wetlands, so this den I deemed to be highly dangerous and needing an extermination. The doors flew open and I readied my flamethrower for part one. Owit and Tiha behind me readied their own looking out the other side's doors. No signal needed to be given, they knew what to do.
​
Owit's flamethrower hissed as his solution sprayed out unlit to provide extra fuel for a longer burn while Tiha's roared to life. I winced just a bit with the flames so hot and bright that both still slipped a little through my suit. It was some of our most powerful stuff and only those more experienced exterminators like me were even allowed to request it.
​
The shuttle slowly started to make a full hoof around the back of the den. This was a maneuver I learned from very old exterminator manuals that was rarely done anymore. Most hated the idea of funneling predators right at them, but to me it HAD to be done. None should be allowed to escape.If that meant we must stare down the jaws of a predator then it was our duty to stand firm.
​
Finally they started to come to the surface and head for the shore while we were halfway done. It was my turn. Safety off, aim above the target to allow for drop. Aim in front of target to allow for travel. Finger on trigger. Breath in. Hold. breathe out.
​
Hold.
​
Squeeze.
​
The flamethrower kicked back more than normal, but it was expected. The special P4 solution was thicker than most with it being only a little thinner due to stabilizing compounds and some oils to ensure it floated in the water. I made sure to hold it steady and guided the spray onto a few predators that were clustered together. As soon as they glew like a sun I shifted to some that were on their own.
​
All my stress, all my worries, everything was purged by the fire and the roar of my flame thrower. I started to do my breathing exercises as pred after pred caught on fire.
​
Thud thud.
​
The signal. Funnel complete. I stopped my fire and waited as we went a little ways from the funnel's exit. While it would be safer to stay in the shuttle in theory the smoke would soon make it impossible to aim from above. We all jumped out and ran towards the fire.
​
One by one the beasts came out of the water, only to thrash and die as the flames consumed them. Four came out unscathed. There was no need to discuss or even signal who did what. My two teammates went after the two that were going to the left and right of us. I, however, got ready to fight the two coming down the center. It was my duty as team lead to do the most dangerous part.
​
I readied my flamethrower and swallowed down my fear. Just two large predators. I've done worse. One was consumed by a wall of white fire as my two teammates burned away their targets.
​
My eyes snapped to the last one as it lunged at me. I could see them. The tiny claw marks on its face from the Venlil it hurt. My brain wanted to get mad.
​
But I stayed calm.
​
I stayed professional.
​
I stayed alive.
​
And I did my duty.
​
There was a crunch as I swung the reinforced frame of my flamethrower hard, slamming it into the side of the predator's head. While it struggled to shake off the impact I took aim. Breathed out. Held. And squeezed the trigger.
​
This one was the most dangerous of all so I made sure it was burnt to nothing. Both to ensure nothing could come from it and to make sure the venlil could find peace in whatever afterlife they went to. I glanced at my teammates and they did the same to the other predator bodies. Their roaring flame throwers burning away everything.
​
This was my favorite part. The part where the sweet, rich scent of burning predator filled your beak. Where the danger was gone, nobody was hurt, and everyone was safe. Most said they hated this part, that it made their stomachs hurt or their throats itch. But to me the smells of victory were unmatched. It was an aroma one could only get after victory as an exterminator.
​
I then looked at the remains and thought for a bit. These were the bad predators. The sort that hurt others for no reason, not even for just food. This wasn't their territory, there were no cubs, and venlil were outside their normal prey. They were evil.
​
Then thought about my two predators. And I realized that even the arxur was nothing like that. She tried to help the human, talked about how she didn't like the idea of baby animals dying, and any word she had to say about the arxur was far more… violent than even most exterminators. She kept calling them "betterment" though which must be the main arxur faction. Another notch into her being arxur, but the mistake was just so innocent that it felt even more authentic than some HUMANS.

Breathe.
​
Maybe… maybe there was something else to call them than predators. I mean, the humans had a word that felt good. Monster. Some beast with little thought or care that attacked and killed for no reason or for cruelty. Like these piles of ash. There were also prey with TRUE predator disease, not the fake stuff they accused Tarlim of. Like the yotul "researcher."

Some predators were good or even innocent! I refused a call to kill a shadebeast den just a few paws ago. I saw no need. I pointed out how much effort would go into just getting there, much less fire control to avoid burning the forest down, finding them in the woods, and more. They were living so far away from anything, even the venlil that found them only saw them from a shuttle! The expedition was called off. We need to focus on protecting, not just chasing things and risking ourselves.

It is what let the arxur onto my kind's….

I shook the thoughts from my head. No need to think about that. It was probaly going to be one of the darkest spots in exerminator history someday. Alright, lets just collect thoughts for a bit. Predators that were actually bad were now monsters in my book. Not going to let my two best friends be lumped in with them. I slipped off my head protection and watched the wetlands vanish under me as I brought out my datapad to fill out the report. Mine were always so simple: Predators eliminated, little to no chance of surviving predators, no injuries, no further actions needed. Sure filling out the other forms took awhile, but it was doable. It was just a little bit harder than normal thanks to notifications popping up.

Hi, as the title says, my girlfriend and I are supposed to move in together, but I feel like we have unresolved issues and moving in together won’t fix them, or at least most of them. I guess I should start at the start, and I’ll try not to make things too one sided, as I know most people are inclined to agree with the author of the post as it’s from their point-of-view, so don’t be afraid to push back on everything I have written, I am writing to get peoples opinions, be them agreeing with me or not agreeing with me. Also, sorry about all the text, I sometimes ramble, so each section has a TL/DR if you like.
I’ll start from the start, my girlfriend (who I’ll name Christine here) and I have been together for two years come September. I love her very much and I know she loves me. We met online (as ya do these days) and I was instantly attracted to how warm and thoughtful she was. Christine seemed to take an interest in what I might be interested in and put in the effort to plan dates around these things. She lives in an apartment with her sister, and is more central to town, where as I live in the suburbs, about a 15-20 minute drive away from her, although sometimes more in rush hour. She is very emotional, which is a pretty big contrast compared to my last ex, who either bottled things in or was more suppressed, whereas my current girlfriend will tell me how she is feeling from one hour to next it seems.
A little background on me prior to this relationship, TL/DR at the bottom of this paragraph:
I moved to this town about 6 years ago with my ex (who I’ll call Meg here), and at the time I bought a house when I moved here. Meg was never on the mortgage and I paid for most of the large house expenses, although we did split some of the other bills, like internet, heating, and small house renovations. In that time the company I was supposed to start work with laid off the entire team before my contract started, basically leaving me jobless and with a mortgage. I was quite stressed for a little bit, but was able to set up freelance and full-time work 4 months later. In that time I also started working on projects for myself, and one of them went well and I have been able to work full-time for myself for the past 4 and a half years. This basically makes me my own boss with my own hours, although I do like to keep a regular 9-5 Monday to Friday work schedule. Although I sometimes start later and work later, and on crunch weeks can pull pretty long hours (12 hour days including weekends), but I’ve gotten better with that for the most part. To make a long story short here, Meg and I got engaged after 5 years being together, but we broke up and she left me. In that time we adopted 5 pets, two dogs and 3 cats, she took 2 of the cats and I kept the other animals, leaving me with the house, two dogs, and 1 cat, which is still my current situation. I love my dogs very much and I treat them like my children, but they can be a lot sometimes. They’re a very needy breed, although they keep each other company which is nice. I paid Meg a lump-sum of money at the time to avoid any legal complications, and the statute of limitations has run out if she wanted to try to take more money for the house. Meg ended up getting married to someone 3 months after we broke up, and as far as I know they’re still together, but I have no contact with her, nor do I ever go on social media to see. I’m not huge on using social media, since I use it for my job, I really don’t like using it too much for me personally, although I do like to look at TV clips from shows I like on Instagram haha.
TL/DR for my background: Was in a relationship, bought a house, relationship broke up, I kept 2 dogs and 1 of the cats and was able to keep the house. I work for myself after losing my job, but still work a relatively normal work schedule that is somewhat flexible.
Now that there’s a little bit of background I should get into the meat and potatoes. Christine and I have been having communication issues, which I feel have become more prominent with the planned dates of moving into together. I feel like a lot of these issues have come up in the past, and we talked about them, but some of them are recurring, and I fear moving in together will not be a good way to solve most of them.
Issue 1: The house and how my girlfriend feels about it
It’s a pretty simple house in a quiet neighbourhood, is only one floor and two bedrooms, but is a pretty good amount of space for two people, especially since there is an attached garage and backyard. One of the bedrooms is my office and the other is, well, the bedroom. I have a living room and kitchen, and my hallway has a large closet that houses the washer and dryer. I and my ex did renovate some things, and since she moved out I continued to change some stuff, but am pretty happy with my house, although still have some bigger projects, like a bathroom renovation that I’d like to do at some point. Most people who I first show my house to usually say things like it’s really cute or this place is sweet, things of that nature, although Christine hasn’t really complimented it much. At one point she asked me if I planned to stay in my house forever, and I responded that if that was the case it wouldn’t bother me. Although I don’t necessarily think I’ll be in this place forever, but if I was it wouldn’t upset me. Real-estate where I am is extremely expensive, and I feel fortunate that I was able to but something when I did, as it’s become nearly impossible for my generation to buy anything. While it could be possible for me to sell this place and put the money towards a new mortgage somewhere, that isn’t currently my intention, as I am pretty happy with me current living situation.
Christine has said in the past that she considers my contentment to be me settling, which upset me greatly as I really don’t consider how I live to be “settling”. She has said she in the past that she dislikes my house, and feels she is sacrificing a lot to move in here, and that I haven’t acknowledged this sacrifice enough. The things she’s most sad about leaving behind in her apartment is the more central location, her favourite coffee shops, the shorter commute to work, having her own bedroom that is just her own, and despite sometimes having issues with her sister, she’s gonna miss living with her, as they’ve been roommates for nearly 3 years. She has listed the things she dislikes about my place, but it’s largely more suburban location, and it isn’t clean enough to her liking – it isn’t dirty, but my dogs a pretty messy, so I have agreed to hire cleaners to do more deep cleans every month or so, while I continue to tidy things up in the way that I have been doing. She also the dislikes the direction my house faces and feels like it doesn’t get enough light, although she is often over during the evening, and I feel like my house gets quite a bit of light during the day, so much so I often need to draw the blinds when the sun hits certain areas.
She’s also implied that she feels uncomfortable moving in to my place because I have history with a past relationship in this house, which I can understand, and have agreed to move her bed into the house when she moves in, as living on the same bed as a past relationship would probably be too strange. She has also implied that other couples when they move in together usually move into a whole new space, as she always had a dream of one day buying and picking out her own house and she feels that if she moves in with me that I am taking away her dreams. Although I’ve tried to re-frame her thinking, as once she moves in we can redecorate and change the place, paint, and more or less blend our two styles into one, making it our place. I also think the idea of couples moving into a new place together is usually when they either both already own a house or neither do, if someone in a relationship already owns their own house most often the partner who doesn’t will move in with them, but that’s just my own thoughts on it.
We’ve also gotten into arguments over changing patio furniture, which I already have, and she said we should buy an entire new set of furniture. I said I don’t really see why we would need a new entire set, my dogs have gotten fur on the current set, but otherwise they’re in good condition, and I said we could clean the furniture with my pressure washer whenever we want. I also agreed that we can expand the patio and add more furniture, a piece or two that she can pick out so that she has some choice in the matter. Although to get to that point she cried a lot and then told me she always had a dream of buying her own patio furniture and she feels like this is another dream that I’m trying to take away from her.
To be honest I am quite the saver and value my security over spending money on things that I already have. I grew up in a lower-middle class family and saw my parents struggle with finances, where as Christine grew up in what I would consider upper-middle class or even lower-high class, and possibly expects a little more than I do. Whereas I grew up learning to love what I have, Christine has often dreamed about what’s next and wanting more. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for either of us, but this I feel has resulted in some of the arguments revolving around things and the house.
TL/DR Issue 1: My girlfriend seems to not like my house and feels she is sacrifising a lot to move in with me.
Issue 2: Me hanging out with my friends
Another issue that has come up is how we value our various friendships. Christine is more of an introvert and works in an office, so can feel relatively drained at the end of the day and often doesn’t feel the need to additional social interactions, although she does have some people she considers close friends, although maybe only sees them once a month or less even. Where as I am more of an extrovert, although I do like my alone time as well and do have introvert tendencies, but because I work for myself at home I do like to fill my social interactions with my friends when I’m not working. Now I’m not a party animal and I don’t go out every night of the week or anything like that, but I do see my friends maybe 2-3 times a week, often in a group setting.
Christine and I did a personality test recently, which showed that she carries the introvert tendencies, but also can be very jealous and feel like she has extreme FOMO when events are going on. Even when she is invited to them but declines as her social battery is low, she still feels like she has been left out, despite being invited to join by me or someone else in my friend group. I always make an effort to invite her most of the time, unless I know it’s just gonna be a guys night, in which case I try to let her know what I’m up to.
Sometimes my friends are last minute with plans so they’ll text me, and I’ll rush to take care of my dogs and then head out. I try to let my girlfriend know what I’m up to and invite her, but since we don’t live together I don’t always give her a play by play at all times of the day of what I’m up to. Past relationships I’ve had haven’t really wanted to know what I was doing at all times if we’re not living together. I’ve also never made plans with her and then ditched her for my friends, I always make a point to stick to my word and keep any plans that we have set in stone.
In the past when I’ve been hanging out with my friends her texts to me have been short and impersonal and I can tell she’s upset, this has sometimes taken away my joy from hanging out with my friends. She has stated that she isn’t upset at me, but just upset that she is missing out on something, despite most of the times being invited to join. While moving in together would result in me and Christine seeing each other more and I’d of course always let her know if I was heading out or wouldn’t be home when she was expecting me, I sometimes fear her FOMO and the sometimes hour long conversations reassuring her about our relationship after I hang out with my friends.
I feel like this comes down to trust issues, and I feel like Christine doesn’t trust me, despite never being dishonest with her. I’ve had previous relationships cheat on my either emotionally or physically and that’s a pain that doesn’t go away, so I’ve always made an effort to never do anything unbecoming as such. The trust issues come down possibly to Christine’s insecurities about herself, and while I’ve tried to comfort her or reassure her, I feel like it’s a personal issue that she should be talking to a therapist about. She was seeing a therapist for a while, but has stopped recently, stating that the therapist was to agreeable with her, and she wasn’t seeing actionable changes. Although she is self-aware enough to realize that these trust and insecurity issues are her own.
This is compounded further because my friend group has a female friend, I’ll call her Carlotta, who is dating one of my closest friends. After my ex and I broke up 2 and a half years ago, Carlotta and her boyfriend (my close friend) broke up, Carlotta and I both got a little drunk and bonded over our breakups and kissed. We only kissed and nothing else happened, but the next morning we both said that it was a bad idea and that was more or less the end of it. My close friend and Carlotta ended up getting back together about a month later, and after some awkwardness, my close friend forgave both of us for the kiss. They were of course broken up at the time, and I respect peoples relationships too much to ever make a move on someone who is in a relationship, nor would I ever make a move on someone when I’m in a relationship myself. Carlotta and I both chalked it up to both feeling lonely with the recent break-ups. I still hang out with my close friend weekly usually, and Carlotta is there I’d say about 25% of the time, so I might see her once a month or so in group settings. In an effort to be honest with Christine I told her about I and Carlotta’s history early on in our relationship, and this only made Christine more insecure. When I told her I was unaware of her underlying trust and insecurity issues, although I still feel like open honesty was probably the best choice.
While the FOMO and jealousy over me hanging out with my friends is still there, if Carlotta is around it is usually worse. This has led Christine to comparing herself to Carlotta, or at least the idea of Carlotta. Christine at one point block her Instagram because she would see Carlotta’s stories feel even more insecure. Christine has accused me of hiding things from her about me and Carlotta’s past, which I haven’t, and accused me of acting awkward when Carlotta is around. Although I feel like any awkwardness is probably because I know Christine is insecure around Carlotta, so I might be a little uncomfortable not wanting to upset my girlfriend.
While I feel like this has gotten better recently, when I hung out with my friends the other day, Carlotta happened to be there and I told my girlfriend as much afterwards. I of course invited my girlfriend to join at the time, but she wasn’t interested. When we talked on the phone and I told my girlfriend what my friends and I got up to, I could feel like she was upset, and she told me she felt triggered. I asked her why exactly, and the conversation eventually spun off, and while recognizing that it is her insecurity issues, she got upset with how she felt I responded to her being triggered. While I was trying to figure out why exactly she was upset, she became upset at me for not instead immediately comforting her. Although I did try to comfort her, I guess it wasn’t in the way she wanted to be comforted. She accused me of “being attracted greatness”, and because she considers Carlotta to be “great” I musty be attracted to her. This isn’t the case, I’m really not attracted to Carlotta in that way anymore, so I feel like I need to defend myself. Then I get accused of being defensive, so really there’s no winning. It took an hour of back and forth talking to eventually come to end the phone call on good terms where neither of us were upset.
TL/DR issue 2: My girlfriend is insecure and very anxious when I hang out with my friends.
Issue 3: Communication stuff I guess?
While this has probably been apparent in some of the above writing, I really feel like we sometime struggle to understand one another. I’m a very logical person and tend to need a reason for something to be a certain way or to change things. Christine is more emotional and a dreamer, she’s more concerned with thoughts and feelings where as I am more interested in facts and data. Neither of these things is a real issue at all, except for when it comes to conversations that lead to disagreements. Sometimes I feel like we’re having a perfectly normal conversation with some back and forth, and then all of a sudden she’s upset at me and in tears, and I try to rewind the conversation to find something that would have resulted in this response, and I legit can’t. That probably makes me sound pretty stupid, because if someone is crying there must be a reason, but even when she repeats what made her upset, I can’t even place in the conversation when this happened. Seriously, I rack my brain trying to place it and it just isn’t there. I feel like I’m losing my mind. Eventually we can maybe rewind enough to the initial triggering, but even when it’s repeated I have no idea why it would deserve this emotional of a response.
Some of the time it’s because she took a joke I said as reality, not realizing it was a joke. So I have to explain the joke in great detail so that she can get it. I’m a very jokey person by nature and do struggle to be serious. Christine is less jokey, and more serious by nature. Sometimes I can say a joke and she laughs really hard, so she isn’t humourless by any degree. I just think because she’s so serious that she sometimes assumes what I’m saying is serious, and suddenly all the context is gone.
Other times it seems she gets upset at me for reasons that others wouldn’t. I play sports with my friend in recreational leagues, and every now and then we’ve needed a sub so my girlfriend has filled in. After some of the games she is, at least I feel she is, angry at me for perceived things about how I play. Sometimes when you’re playing with a sub you don’t have the same groove as your team usually would, but my girlfriend seems to take it personally if I don’t pass the ball to her enough, and accuses me of not wanting to improve at the sport, despite my level of play being equal or better than most of my team-members, at least in my opinion. There are obviously ways I could improve, but this is a rec league and I only play once a week at most and I’m not going for the majors, most of us are there to have a good time and play the game, and then maybe grab some drinks after to celebrate the win or the loss. I can feel Christine’s mood sour if we aren’t doing well, and everyone else isn’t upset at all. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win, but she hates losing and is very competitive. While she’s not horrible at the game, she doesn’t play as often as we all do, and is probably not quite on our level. So she gets upset when she feels she’s letting the team down, but I’ve told her many times that no one feels like she is letting us down. She does feel like she needs to be the best at stuff, and when she isn’t she gets upset at herself, and then might turn it around on me. It got to the point where I had to stop inviting her to join us as she was getting too upset either visibly in the game or at me after for some perceived slights, for not passing the ball enough, or for me not improving enough since playing.
We have started going to therapy, largely because I want to iron out these issues before moving in together, and in the session I brought up the FOMO and insecurities she has over me hanging out with my friends. We talked and I got some perspective on her side, and I hope she got some perspective on my side. We mostly talked about the house issues though, as that was the most pressing, and the FOMO stuff was relegated to a small part of therapy. Later on in the evening when I went over to her place to hang out she said she felt blindsided about how I brought up her insecurities about this in therapy. She said that she felt we had talked about these issues in the past and didn’t think that it should have been brought up in therapy. I told her that just because we’ve talked about it in the past, and it has gotten a little better, doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try to talk about it in therapy to gain a better perspective. For context, the next night she got upset when I hung out with my friends, aka the last paragraph of issue 2, so it’s pretty clear that this is an ongoing issue and hasn’t been fully resolved.
The therapist even picked up on something that my girlfriend has started somewhat jokingly diagnosing herself with after watching some videos on TikTok, that is possibly her having ADHD or being somewhere on the Autism spectrum. Both of these would explain why she struggles to contain her emotions, and appreciates having control of her environment, although I can’t really say for sure either way, as I’m not equipped myself to diagnose anything.
TL/DR of Issue 3: Sometimes we just don’t seem to get each other or be on the same page.

Welp, that was a long novel. I think Stephen King will be reaching out to me for the rights soon. I know this might seem like a lot of things, but I just wanted to provide as much detail as possible, plus I think it’s probably all kind of the same thing, but written a whole bunch of different ways. I really do love my girlfriend and want to work out these issues. I hope that therapy is enough to be able to see eye to eye, but I maybe wanted some outside perspective. And I would ask that people keep in mind the ass for mentioned bias that this write-up has probably in my favour, so I would appreciate any opinions in favour of my girlfriend. I really want this to workout, I just want this relationship to last when we move in together, that’s why I wrote all this out, and that’s why we started going to therapy. I truly do love her and I know she loves me. If you read this entire thing then I thank you, and even if you just read the TL/DR of each issue I still thank you.

Dear Emma,
Supreme Court cases do not operate the way the Independent article suggests. Small details in a decision, tangential to the issue being decided, do not turn it into a landmark case, or even establish precedent. Rather, it is a decision's holding which determines whether a case is a landmark or not. The Independent is foreign owned and operated, but being a large outlet, they should know better than to put out an article like the one you linked to.
In the court system, pronoun policy is currently split at the appellate level, with the Sixth Circuit and the Seventh Circuit taking opposing sides. The Supreme Court has not weighed in on this yet, but the split makes it more likely they will choose to rule about it.
Besides this, Jonathon Turley writes at https://jonathanturley.org/2023/04/25/seventh-circuit-upholds-termination-of-high-school-teacher-who-objected-to-pronoun-policy/ that a currently pending religious accommodations case, Groff v. DeJoy, could "gut the underlying standard used by the Seventh Circuit in its ruling for the school district".

However, since something like 30% to 40% of young adults leave the county, the effect is even stronger than 27%.
Transgenderism's concomitant drugs and surgeries tend towards sterilization, and towards making its subjects less attractive to the opposite sex. Assisted reproductive technologies are too expensive to be implemented on a broad scale. Transgenderism is a risk to Door County's future, because it could help push that 1.533 figure even lower. In this way, transgenderism is a demographic factor in the overall gentrification, just as unaffordable housing is an economic factor. Just as it is unwise to encourage unaffordable housing, it is unwise to encourage transgenderism.
Or even if you think replacement fertility is unrealistic and unachievable, consider that when the age structure of a population gets too unbalanced, it is harder to take care of the elderly. Or should elderly people just be relocated far away, or as some think, even euthanized? Every transgender sterilization is a step in the wrong direction.
It follows then, that someone who refuses to use preferred pronouns might not be a horrible bigot who gets perverse satisfaction from it, but rather, someone who loves his or her community and wants it to have a future. Such people may even be willing to personally be on the losing side of a litmus test for the collective good.

Because taxpayers come from all sorts of political backgrounds, these organizations should have avoided all political activities, aside from lobbying for particular things directly related to their organization.

But like Disney in Florida, they are engaging in partisan activity, betraying that trust. Institutions which benefit from public funding should be non-partisan and impartial. I'm not sure if this has been covered in your classes so far, or privately by your boss. If so, bear with me as I restate it. The Pulse has a different political makeup among its advertisers versus its readers. That it is a free paper tends to result in a readership which is inherently less educated than the readership of a subscription newspaper. I used to know a man who had once ran a free paper, but sold it. He was a conservative. It had a lot of general-interest content, nothing political, and especially featured ads for alcohol. Free papers tend to be read by people who read occasionally rather than regularly.
Occasional readers are less educated than regular readers, and the level of education corresponds to the political alignment. This means that natural readership of the Pulse is more conservative than the overall population of Door County. For people with a regular reading habit, the Pulse competes with a number of subscription outlets, while for occasional readers the Pulse has less competition.
Yet the Pulse isn't dominated by gas station and liquor store ads. Unlike many other free papers, its advertisers run more towards the left. This makes sense, because presently Door County has a disproportionately left-wing visitorship. One factor in the loss of right-leaning tourists may be in marketing decisions over recent decades has shifted. Right-wingers from the Chicago metro area are probably drawn more towards state parks in Indiana and other Door County alternatives. Local businesses geared toward tourists, or even seasonal residents, will probably be well-served by advertising in the Pulse.
This leaves the Pulse in the situation where it is to the left of its readership, but still financially sustainable. Its leadership must be aware of this vulnerability, as the Pulse's podcast tends to be to the left of the paper. That it sometimes leaves its readership behind is exemplified how, in the recent midterm election, Ron Johnson did not return any answers to the Pulse's questionnaire, while his Democratic opponent did. Door Countyites voted for him anyway, by a margin of only 75 votes. During the 2022 election it seems that a number of Republicans intentionally spurned media outlets over left-wing bias. To the extent that they did so, and won office anyway, this served to send a message to their base that they were unwilling to be manipulated by left-wing media. It could even be seen as a plea for fair treatment in the future.
Instead of pronouns, there are other topics out there. Recently, a large firm was paid a lot of state money to write a report which claimed that "Potawatomi was chosen in honor of the tribe that had lived in the area before ceding its land to the US government in the 1830’s."

You could write an article debunking this, and explain what really happened. I think it would be well-received locally, though maybe not by the DNR. Had you written an article about how pronouns should always be biologically honest, that would have hurt your chances of getting a job someday as a journalist in a large metro area, but I don't think debunking Graef would hurt you. With some effort, you should be able to find other topics which are win-win for both your future career and for Door County. Although this is a social relationship, were it a biological relationship instead, this would be "mutualism" rather than "parasitism" or "predation".

Hi, I'm RkT, I was as talent in the LATAM analysis table in the VCT Americas League. I try to give a numerical sustenance to my analysis which leads me to collect this kind of information.

tl dr;
I made a compilation of all the tactical pauses and how it was the result of the round. In the case of a tactical pause I took an Echo/Semi Echo round.
In the table the summary of the teams performance % of round won after asking for a pause.

It is also interesting to note what happens when you call for a pause in an Eco/Semi Eco round, a round that is normally lost because of the difference in weapons, but in the next round where you can buy see what happens. That is the third column (RwR after pause in eco round).
Taking into account these rounds: Leviathan comes first with 57.58%.
LOUD has the lowest average pauses per map in the league with 1 pause per map, also has the lowest number of pauses used with 32
100 Thieves has the highest number of pauses per map with 1.8 and NRG has the highest number of pauses with 57 and 36 maps played (third in pauses/map).
Curious fact: C9 has 93.1% efficiency in enemy pauses.

PAUSES:

Pauses are an important element of the game, but they are also one of the most difficult (or annoying) elements to track. While I was working at VCT Americas I decided to track all tactical pauses and the outcome of them.
The first few weeks I just broke it down into Echo/Semi Buy/Full Buy for week 3-4 Adopt the a new criteria:
Eco 0-5k, Semi Eco 5-10k, Semi Buy 10k-20k, Full Buy 20k+
I know that this criterion is not the best (Eco rounds practically don't exist) and there are rounds where the economy is close to 10k, but there are 2 Vandals and a Jett that can ult. In those cases I usually move the round from Semi Eco to Semi Buy. (Personally I think the criteria would have to move semi buy from 12k and full buy from 19k, in particular using Light Shield, but that's another debate).

Although NRG used the most pauses (57) they are also the team with the most maps played 36. But if we analyze the reelation between total pauses and maps played, they are third.
The teams with more pauses per maps used:
1st) 100 Thieves first 1.8 Pauses/Maps (33 pauses, 23 maps).
2nd) mibr second 1.7 Pauses/Maps (25 pauses, 22 maps)
3rd) KRU, Sentinels and NRG third 1.6 Pauses/Maps
The teams with the least amount of pauses per map:
LOUD 1 Pauses/Maps (32 pauses, 31 maps)
Leviathan 1.2 Pauses/Maps (33 pauses, 28 maps)
Cloud9 1.3 Pauses/Maps (35 pauses, 22 maps)

Analyzing the efficiency of the pauses:

The efficiency percentage is low, less than 50% for all teams except LOUD, which is a bit strange, in theory it seems that the adaptations that can make the one who asks for the pause are not enough to adapt to what the rival team proposes.
But if we analyze in more detail and track pauses in Eco/Semi Eco rounds and the result of the next round, the results change:

In this case the top 3 are the same teams, but now all three have a positive Win rate.
Leviatán leads the table with 57.6% (a 9% improvement if we did not take into account the eco rounds).
LOUD is second with 56.3% (a 6% improvement if we did not take into account the eco rounds).
Sentinels is third with 51.4% (a 3% improvement if we did not take into account the eco rounds).
Special mention for NRG (with 26% of pauses in economic rounds) which rose from 38.6% to 49.1% (an improvement of 10.5%).

What's happening in pauses in rival rounds?
We have an undisputed king. Cloud9 is unstoppable when the opposing team asks for a pause, 93.1% efficiency is extremely high. The rest of the teams have a positive RwR except for Leviatán.

Clarification: I consider this streak between pause and pause, regardless of the team that requested the pause. I still count the streak after the side change.

Conclusions:

Tactical pauses are a valuable resource, but it is difficult to measure their efficiency and the impact they can have within the team, to understand how teams use these pauses (Buy rounds / Echo rounds).
I would love to know more about how teams understand the use of their pauses, but I understand that it may be sensitive information for teams and they may not want to divulge it.
