Help Identifying A Crime / Seeking Further Info?
2023.06.10 20:05 Thesilphsecret Help Identifying A Crime / Seeking Further Info?
Hello! I am currently working on a project that has an interesting crossover into true crime, and I'm at a bit of a standstill wondering how to proceed. Never conducted any true crime research before, and I was hoping somebody here may be able to help out or just point me in the right direction! I'm essentially just wondering what resources are out there for somebody trying to research a true crime case, and the case I'm looking for is still a bit of a mystery to me -- I have some details, but I don't have enough and haven't been able to find any articles about the incident yet. Here's what I know:
Sometime around 2000 or 2001, a tattoo artist named Connor (or Conner, or Conor -- not entirely certain about the spelling) who worked at Body Marks Tattoo in Leonardo, New Jersey (small neighborhood in Monmouth County, near Atlantic Highlands) supposedly killed a man (in Sayreville, NJ I believe) and buried his body somewhere near a police shooting range. From what I hear, he was charged with murder and desecration of a body. One person I spoke with recalls that Connor's last name was "Hollerman, or O'Hollering, something Irish" and that he had an accomplice in the killing. They also said that they do remember there being a newspaper article about the whole thing (they live in Leonardo). He was told that it was a drug deal gone wrong.
Been googling around and don't seem to be finding what I'm looking for. Does anybody have any advice? Thank you for your time!!

2023.06.10 16:09 Ayala8685 Will I regret not doing GA tonight?
I have a GA ticket and a ticket in section 131 tonight (first row). I’m 5’3” and going alone (with a fair bit of anxiety). I have a ticket for tomorrow in section 137, third row.
Will I regret not doing GA and going to the lower bowl? For reference: at the Divide World Tour I saw him three times from the floor (twice in NJ and once in Philly) and for the original Divide tour I was in the upper level of Barclays.

2023.06.09 20:14 plotz_ SFF ITX Build
Hi everyone,
I am based in Germany and am about to hit the trigger on a secondary build to be hooked up with both a 1080p TV (via hdmi) and an existing external sound card (via USB), which is connected to a relatively high-end audio system. Objectives: - couch-based gaming (GTA V, Football Manager, maybe some light Cities Skylines or Poe,...) - Media streaming to TV (Netflix, Youtube) - Audio streaming to Hifi (Spotify)
I have collected these parts, but not for 794 but 707 EUR. Any suggestions for improvement?
I still have an AMD Wraith Stealth Cooler that fits the case and two left over Arctic PWM 120mm fans.
Thanks!

2023.06.09 19:19 killerhatpost Jackson St Closed
A truck took down wires at the intersection of Jackson St/Highland Ave/Essex St a couple hours ago. Jackson St is closed and traffic is a mess in the area. Power is out for a chunk of the streets around the accident. Word is it was an Amazon truck that caused the issue. Apparently the outage is wreaking havoc for the cities IT services.
There was also a fatal accident on Highland Ave last night by Olde Village Drive. A pickup truck and a scooter just before midnight. The side heading towards Lynn was closed for most of the night.
The Salem News isn't running either story of course.

2023.06.08 18:40 FinanciallyConfusing School List Help Please! (3.92 and 522)
Hi all! I would greatly appreciate any advice or insight on my school list. With how much luck goes into getting anywhere, my list is currently 45 schools. I’m not sure if I should cut down any schools, especially if they don't take too much out of state people or if my application doesn't fit what the school is looking for. I preferably would like to stay east coast, but as you can tell by my list, I'm willing to move if I must. In terms of pre-writing secondaries, I'm going to first focus on the schools I like then move from there. Not sure if 45 schools is just way too much. Thank you in advance!
Stats: 3.92 cGPA, 3.92 sGPA at a T30 school; 522 MCAT (131/127/132/132).
ORM, NJ resident with strong ties to NY, low SES and first generation
My personal statement revolves around having to help out at my parents small business and watching them develop health issues as working class individuals. I'm really passionate about working with lower SES populations.
Research: A total of about 5000 hours, with 2000 hours anticipated. - First lab (650 hours): Molecular pathology lab focused on creating a neonatal sepsis point of care test
- Second lab (170 hours): Virtual research (due to the pandemic) focused on a specific transcription factor associated with the blood and immune system. One second author publication in a decent impact journal and one “national” poster (online due to COVID).
- Third lab (4000 current hours + 2000 anticipated hours): I have two projects. My main project is related to an understudied parasite. The second project is related to a lipid transport system located in the membrane of bacteria. I have one six author paper in a decent impact journal and I will have a second author paper to be submitted soon. I also have one undergraduate poster (online due to COVID), one national poster, and one national presentation (not by me but I’m second author). I got a $1000 research grant from my university as well as an award for the strength of my proposal.
Clinical: A total of about 820 hours, with 200 hours anticipated - ~420 current hours + 200 anticipated hours as a hospital volunteer in two different hospitals in various departments (pediatrics, ER, infusion, inpatient), all with direct patient interaction.
- 400 hours as a medical assistant at a pain management clinic
Non-clinical volunteering: A total of about 370 hours - 70 hours as a fundraising volunteer at a nonprofit geared toward supporting nearby free clinics.
- 130 hours at a daycare center for low income families.
- 170 hours going to under resourced high schools to teach about mental and sexual health information and resources.
- As you will see, one of my leadership experiences is also technically non-clinical volunteer related
Leadership: About 750 hours, with 300 anticipated - 50 hours as an elected president to help promote a sense of community for a group of 100 students.
- 700 current hours + 300 anticipated hours starting a division within a medical practice to provide clinical opportunities to disadvantaged students in medicine. (This could technically be non-clinical volunteering but I listed it under leadership)
Hobby (and kind of leadership): 2000 hours as an artist (also mentioned a leadership position in an art related club at university)
Shadowing: 110 hours with a pain management physician, anesthesiologists, a pediatrician, and cardiologists.
LORS: I have a committee letter which contains letters from two science professors, one non-science professor, one PI, and one physician (who I shadowed and worked for).
School List: "Safety" (I know there is no such thing as a safety and I might get yield protected): - Albany Medical College
- New York Upstate Medical University
- Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo
- Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine
- Drexel University College of Medicine
- Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University
- Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine

2023.06.07 22:29 freek-vonk Glassdoor reviews & vacancies analysis
| (let me know if this post is not appropriate!) Why analyze glassdoor reviews? Hello there, lovely people of RKLB! As this subreddit and the general interest in Rocket Lab seems to grow quite rapidly, I decided to have a look at some public information about glassdoor reviews & vacancies and share them with you. This gives me good practice scraping the data and formatting it into something digestible. I believe that for the company to succeed, it needs talented and motivated employees. One way to gain insight into what employees think of their company is by looking at glassdoor reviews. Glassdoor is a website that allows users to (anonymously) rate their company and share their salary (ranges), giving outsiders insight into what happens inside the company. How trustworthy is glassdoor information? Glassdoor reviews can be made anonymous and there is not much transparency about how many reviews on the website are made by nefarious actors (e.g. bots). About the user verification process, glassdoor mentions this: At Glassdoor, we aim to verify as much of our data as possible. Considering the reality of our digital age, however, we're unable to fully confirm our users' identities, the truthfulness of their contributions, or their employment status. There is therefore no guarantee that the reviews are all trustworthy. Regarding the vacancies, I was unable to check whether all of them are still open or if new ones are open that are not mentioned on the website. Therefore, take this disclaimer and don't see this information as a hard truth. Given information on Rocket Lab from glassdoor's website. Glassdoor shows 125 Rocket Lab reviews on its website, with an average rating of 3.2 stars. I have created a table with some " competitors" (I know, some of them don't belong but I included them for reference), showing that the total rating of Rocket Lab is on the low end of these companies. Company | Rating | Number of reviews | Rocket Lab | 3.2 | 125 | SpaceX | 4.0 | 2.800 | ULA | 3.7 | 514 | Relativity Space | 3.7 | 112 | ABL Space Systems | 2.9 | 26 | Astra | 3.2 | 35 | Virgin Orbit | 3.7 | 131 | Overall, Rocket Lab scores the lowest in work/life balance, which is a recurring theme in the written reviews where people complain about not being able to work from home, bad management and a high employee retention rate. Rocket Lab's average rating for different aspects of the company Does the rating differ per location? One of the main questions I wanted to answer was whether some locations stood out in the rating, or whether the rating is uniform over the company. A large group of reviews did not specify a location, but fortunately, the majority did. You can see the results in the table below. Location | Rating | Number of reviews | Unspecified | 3.33 | 49 | Auckland, Auckland | 3.20 | 45 | Long Beach, CA | 2.75 | 12 | Huntington Beach, CA | 3.5 | 2 | Mount Wellington, Auckland | 2 | 2 | Silver Spring, MD | 4 | 1 | London, England | 5 | 1 | Wayne, NJ | 1 | 1 | Though there are differences in rating between locations, it seems that there are too few reviews to draw conclusions about big differences between locations. How about vacancies? There are a total of 200 ( though the overview on the glassdoor website shows varying amounts). I was interested to see how these were divided over the different locations and gathered the following results (some locations were disregarded due to low Location | Number of vacancies | Long Beach, CA | 101 | Albuquerque, NM | 50 | Silver Spring, MD | 16 | Wallops Island, VA | 13 | Littleton, CO | 10 | Mississippi State, MS | 4 | As everyone would expect, the majority of the vacancies are currently in Long Beach. That's all for now, let me know if you have any suggestions what I should try to look at next and do let me know if this content does not fit this sub, cheers! submitted by freek-vonk to RKLB [link] [comments] |

The rain or shine, family friendly event (but bring earplugs) will feature 7 bands and one DJ who will be spinning intermittently throughout the day. “What makes this year different from the others is that we’ve expanded our circle as far as the entertainment goes. As opposed to primarily booking local bands, we’re happy to be hosting The Dracu-Las from Brooklyn, The Ravagers from Baltimore, and Decent Criminal from Northern CA” says Dan Haag, who along with LoFi owners, Jesse Weeks and Kent Baker, is coconspirator of the festival. But not to worry, for those who follow the ever-blooming Hudson County music scene, there will still be plenty of local talent. Roots Reggae artist, Alex Tea will kick things off, followed by power-pop crooner, Jonny Couch; Kearney’s, Secret Country and their high-energy bar-band country punk will follow; and at the end of the night, Wydlife will bring their 70's-stylized punk/rock 'n' roll and take their foretold place in local lore as headliner. Food and Drink will be available throughout the day.
