PAC 12 Media Deal Impasse Explained

2023.06.10 22:51 Tom-McNamara PAC 12 Media Deal Impasse Explained

PAC 12 Media Deal Impasse Explained
The challenge for the PAC 12 is much easier to understand after looking at a grid of TV listings with the new B1G format. (Thanks CFB.Guide)
The problem isn’t the money, it’s the lack of broadcast windows.
Green: Reserved for B1G Ten or Notre Dame on either Fox, CBS, or NBC.
Charcoal: Reserved for Fox to be able to show MLB, including postseason.
Blue: TV windows that PAC 12 are scheduled:
Lavender: TV windows which PAC 12 could be scheduled but competes with SEC, ACC, or other west coast conference.
Yellow: TV windows available that PAC 12 likely won’t want.
….
TL;DR: ESPN and CBS are probably demanding PAC 12 commit to a specific window of exclusivity that Apple or Amazon won’t accept.

2023.06.10 22:08 Embarrassed-Ad-2625 Ph.D. Stipend/Living Cost Ratio - Who Pays for Me and for What? - About 9 Months Payments

Now I am doing my Master's in biology about computational ecology and I want to apply to Ecology-Wildlife and GIS-RS Ph.D. programs in the USA. As a prospective Ph.D. student, I am wondering about the stipend/living cost ratio for the universities to which I planning to apply to. Do you have any knowledge about the living costs and stipends of the University of Florida, Colorado State University, North Carolina State University, and the University of Delaware?
Also, I am wondering if these stipends are given by the university or from the projects of the lab where we work. Are they any extra expectations for these stipends such as teaching or do they just give the money for doing some science?
And my last question about as I see some of the positions pay 9 months, so that means I am free for 3 months? Are my insurance and other rights covered for just 9 months?

Coastal South Carolina
I didn’t think to wonder what it was until after I photographed it so I do not have any pictures from further away to show the whole plant for the leaves fully. It was a bush like tree not much taller than me, 5’5”
The seeds like green dots at the end of the strings were the outside of an unopened bud and the leaves are what you see in the background.

Wildlife Rescue?
This bird is disoriented, I don’t know what happened to it. It’s laying on the ground and shakes it’s head every few seconds. It’s not very responsive to me. It’s the weekend so some of the wildlife places I looked up are closed and other have not responded yet so I’m not sure they are open. I’m looking for places or people who do bird rehab to help this little bird.

2023.06.08 21:35 HellWasHot Warning: animal death

I hadn't done anything in almost an entire year, it's been hard. But yesterday I failed, and took it a bit to far. If forgotten how freeing it can be to finally be able to control of my own pain. So yesterday on my way to work I found an injured rabbit on the road. They had blood all over them, I don't know what had happened. So I wrapped them in a shirt and picked them up and took them to my car. I spent about 15 minutes looking for a wildlife rehab center l, then started to drive there. But on the way they died, which I know shouldn't be a surprise, but I feel like I failed them. I feel like if I hadn't taken so much time looking for a rehab center they would have lived.

2023.06.08 20:44 Far_Understanding508 PADRE location

Apparently PADRE location is hinted at being somewhere in coastal Georgia. If that’s the case, then why and how were they all the way in Texas and Louisiana looking for children to recruit? If they are all the way out there, it’s feasible to assume they ventured north too; possibly near the coastal areas of Virginia. Also, in TWD, Maggie said she took Hershel to a family cabin on the coast after her community was taken over by the reapers. If that’s coastal Georgia or South Carolina, it’s feasible that maybe she encountered PADRE at one point. What do you all think?

2023.06.08 19:17 Designer_Mousse_8525 Taking on a seasonal position

I have a full time permanent position as an avian wildlife technician and I'm not sure if I want to stay. I found a seasonal position from September to December this year working with shorebirds and my lease is up in September anyways. I have always wanted to work with shorebirds as they are the only type of avian species I have not worked with yet. The question is if I take this seasonal position will it look bad on my resume for further positions in wildlife rehab? The goal is to have a permanent position full time in rehab but with the slim pickings on jobs I might as well take this seasonal will its there. I just don't want to look like I'm going backwards progression-wise on my resume and have to explain myself.

My 3rd of 4 Conferences for MF23: Southern Intracoastal Conference
The SIC is a dominant conference in my league made up of 12 of the best southern programs. Every year at-least 6 of their programs finish within the top 25 rankings at the end of the season.
The only southern programs that tend to give the SIC a run for their money are the ones in the Eastern Athletic Conference.
The southern teams in the EAC either didn’t make the cut to join the SIC, just moved up from the group of 5 level to join the EAC, or rejected their offer to join the SIC due to the pride of the EAC being the best conference based on academics.
