^{fyi if you want to stalk my account - it's the question of my friend since you have a karma requirements to post here so it doesn't make sense for her to create one herself for it}
So when I first came to Cyprus I noticed that every male Cypriot just wants to pay for my food or drink even if we were just buddies/ they had gfs. Now I started dating a Cypriot (kinda, I live in another country so I told him we shouldn't rush and that we should just be honest with each other if it won't be working).
I admit, due to my childhood I'm kinda awkward when I have to talk about money but I'm doing alright and in my country typically on a date people split 50/50 or the person who's paying is the same person who had the idea to go on a date. My ex was earning much less than I was so usually I was the one paying and it was alright.
The Cypriot I'm seeing now kinda takes for granted that he's expected to pay for everything and I feel bad about it but I really feel awkward when it comes to money-talk. I just wanted to know if that's just him or is that a part of Cypriot culture in a way? Are men usually paying for stuff in Cyprus?
I guess we'll talk about it anyway, I just wanted to ask here first. I just bought him a pretty expensive gift I know he wanted so for now I don't feel so guilty anymore :D

I've been legally separated from my Ex for over a year now. On my way home from picking my kids up yesterday, my son (6yr. old) says "Hey dad! Mommy told me Marlon (her bf) spent $100 on my bday gift!). Quick back story, this bf was in my kids life before I was even moved out and only 1 month into our divorce. Anyways, I didn't respond I just changed subject. I couldn't think of a good response, my brain just froze. Anyone else have this happen? If so, how'd you respond? Hello all, Barotrauma has been on my radar for quite a while and now that it’s on sale I am really excited to buy it, but unfortunately a close friend of mine is not yet convinced that he should spend 22 € on it.
I’ve read that this is a co-op heavy game, and it’s possible to join other servers, but is it viable to play 2 player co-op, what’s the minimum player count for one map/match/mission.
We’re mostly playing strategy games, such as Supreme Commander / Sins of Solar Empire and sometimes Alien Swarm, and our preferences always are brutally hard modes in any game.
Would this scratch our hardcore gameplay itch?
My friend is a really picky person so even if I gift him the game I am a bit worried that it’s just gonna get dusty in his Steam Library.

Hey everyone.
I created this account to find some advice. I’ve met this girl like 4.5 years ago and about 3.5 years ago we got together. Back then we were 16 but it was super nice as we both were a bit more mature than the rest of our friends.
We had a very grown up relationship without childish fights or stuff like that.
Of course from 16-20 a person changes a lot. She found new interests that I didn’t share and had gained some rather bad character traits. Over the time we’ve been close to breaking up before but I always gave her another chance to show that she learned from her mistakes because the relationship was too important for me.
Looking back now, I realized that I treated her wrong in the everyday life. While I tried my best to make her life more enjoyable by cooking for her or surprising her with small gifts, etc. I just didn’t really show much interest in her or her new interests. I saw her as a part of my life and didn’t realize how special it was that she was there for me all the time. I didn’t acknowledge the fact that she was always there for me. It was simply normal for me.
Because of this, I often focused on small mistakes she made and didn’t treat her right.
Looking back at all of it now, I am ashamed of myself for treating her like this even though we did have many good memories together.
About 4 weeks ago, I convinced myself it would be the best thing to break up because we simply have gotten too different from each other. The first few days were great, i was confident that I made the right choice. While breaking up, she was crying while i was feeling relieved, believing, this is the way to go.
Over the next weeks I fell into a deep hole, feeling worse than ever before. I realized, now that she is gone, how much she actually meant to me and how stupid I was to focus on small mistakes of her instead of appreciating her presence.
We talked for a few minutes last week and she said she doesn’t know we can ever even be friends again. I got emotional and told her about my regret. She said she needed more time.
As a very optimistic person, I always try to see the good in a bad situation and see this horrible mistake of mine as a learning opportunity for both of us. However I believe that she only focuses on the bad times of our relationship and she meets with friends that didn’t like me to get confirmation that it is the right thing, to ignore me.
I have written her a letter in which I spoke about my regrets, that I have learned from my mistakes and she should think about the many chances that I gave her, so now she can give me one last chance too.
We will meet again in 4-5 weeks to talk. Until then i will try to leave her alone and focus even harder on self improvement. Whenever I think about my future, I see her next to me. I want to do everything i possibly can to use this as an opportunity and show her that I have changed.
Do you think she could give me another chance? She tried to convince herself hat it is better now, etc. but I simply can’t believe that there are zero feelings left after 4 years of being together.
Do you have any ideas what I could talk about when we meet up again? I want to apologize, list examples of my bad behavior and where I have improved and essentially beg for one last chance, as I gave her many when she needed them and now that I need one, she tried to ignore me.

Hi all. Very new to this and apologies if this is basic and covered somewhere my keyword searches haven’t hit.
Appreciate that with investments in things like a Vanguard S&P 500 ETF for retirement the plan is long-term appreciation.
But is it a good idea to periodically sell if there’s a substantial spike in the price that means my average unit cost is 10 or 15% below what I’d currently pay to buy the shares, and then look to reinvest the funds when the price is favorable again, or is that a bad idea for reasons I’m missing?

22M, with $260k spread around various funds, as well as $20k in Kiwisaver. Still living at home, currently working as a firefighter in the air force and have been for the last 4-5 years, but Im looking to go career firefighter in Christchurch.
I'm not happy with where I am financially although I know I should be. I hate the idea of working half my life just so I can afford to buy a house. I don't think I will ever be happy unless I have financial independence (or close to it) but I don't know where to start. Form a business with no experience or no idea what niche to fit into? Trade stocks and lose half my money in the process? Go to a casino and bet everything on red? I'm certain real estate is the way to go but It also seems like a slow process.
I'm just curious what everyone's opinion is on what I should do, or what you would do in my position. stay at home and look into a business idea and continue saving money? Move to Christchurch, buy a house or rent then buy an investment property? Any advice helps, thanks in advance.

Hello,
I am a lazy 32 year old guy who wishes to work part time for the rest of his life. My pension would be around 900 euro according to the mypension website. Before you go and insult me for being lazy, some people just don't want to spend their only life working. I have loads of hobbies and travel all the time on a shoestring. I enjoy my life. If I died tomorrow I wouldn't have a single regret.
Now, I do have a sum of around 110k accumulated through years of investing in crypto and stocks. I also have a house together with my wife of 12 years. Paid off when I'm 50. I'm wondering if I could grow this sum to an amount which would supplement my pension when the time comes. An amount which would be enough to live an OK life of. My wife and I are quite stingy, we are not materialistic. We drive a beater car and never eat out. I wouldn't plan on touching the funds until retirement.
All of this is contingent on me staying together with my wife of course. If I ever were to split up I'd have to go back to full time work since I wouldn't be able to support myself without touching my funds.
Is this possible?
