2023.05.28 16:56 Enterprise90 B-Show Stories! ROH Fifth Year Festival: Chicago
Fifth Year Festival: Chicago February 24, 2007
Chicago, IL
Windy City Fieldhouse
The fourth out of six events in ROH's Fifth Year Festival sees a tag team main event with ROH World Champion Takeshi Morishima and Nigel McGuinness versus Samoa Joe and Homicide. As Joe was headed off for TNA full-time, this would be his final appearance stateside for ROH. He gets a standing ovation during his ring introductions and is more emotional than I've seen him on prior stops in the tour. McGuinness has a weird alliance thing going on with Morishima, one that would end in flames as 2007 went on. After a long match that felt like all four guys were holding a bit back, McGuinness gets a stunning win over Joe with the rebound lariat. The crowd
did not like that finish. I felt like this match could have been better. There was a deliberate pace that didn't work for me.
Chicago's own Colt Cabana fought Jimmy Jacobs in a Windy City Death Match. This was the culmination of Jimmy Jacobs being completely hypnotized by Lacey and willing to do whatever it took to keep her attention. This is a bloody, vicious brawl, with scissors, spikes, and broken flagpoles making both Cabana and Jacobs a bloody mess. Brent Albright interferes on Jacobs' behalf, only to be met by BJ Whitmer. Lacey gets involved, steadying a ladder while Jacobs leaps to the outside through Cabana on a table. That comes back to bite her as Cabana hits both Lacey and Jacobs with his Colt 45 finish, stacks them on top of each other and gets the pin.
ROH World Tag Team Champions Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal defended the titles against the promotion's constant threat, the Briscoe Brothers. (Jay and Mark). The Briscoe brothers have held the titles twice before, but at this point, haven't had a reign in three years. This match would be the beginning of the Briscoes as we came to know them -- the aces of the ROH tag team division. I've said on a couple of occasions that Daniels and Sydal don't seem to have any chemistry, but the presence of a well-oiled machine like the Briscoes elevates the work of the champions. This is a long match, and the weapons that served Daniels and Sydal in previous matches, like the shooting star press and the assisted Angel's Wings, fail here. The Briscoes finish the job on Sydal with a leg drop/SSP combo to begin their third tag title reign.
Roderick Strong and Davey Richards of the No Remorse Corps took on Austin Aries and Matt Cross. This is the first time Aries and Strong were on opposing sides in Ring of Honor and the first match between the two since Strong betrayed Aries earlier in the tour. Aries, in his search for allies to start his new faction (that would eventually be known as The Resilience) picked Matt Cross. Aries starts the match by going right at Strong as soon as he enters the ring, something that would be the theme of the match. Strong and Richards have added a few dirty tricks to their repertoire of hard strikes. Cross hits Strong with a moonsault to the outside and takes a very painful landing right on the edge of the guardrail. Aries finished off Richards with the 450 splash and goes outside to help Cross, but Strong and Richards decide to give Aries' new ally a second helping of guardrail pain.
If you hear whistles blowing throughout this show, that's because ROH is sharing a building with a volleyball meet.
Other matches on this show:
- Jimmy Rave vs. BJ Whitmer
- Shingo vs. Matt Cross vs. CJ Otis vs. Trik Davis in a four-corner survival match
- Sara Del Rey & Allison Danger vs. MsChif & Serena Deeb
- Brent Albright vs. Claudio Castagnoli

2023.05.28 15:38 Agile_Sea5781 Does this guy like me? Or is he just playing with my feelings?
In February (2023) when the new semester started, I started noticing this guy in my gym class. It was the very first day, and I couldn’t tell if he was looking at me because he was across the gym, and I was standing next to the teacher who was explaining how the class was going to work. I just had this feeling he wasn’t staring at the teacher. But I grew up being bullied by boys in school, so I didn’t think anything weird, I summed it up to him listening to the teacher.
But things started getting weirder. The second day of class, the class were doing the daily walk around the gym. And this guy turns around, and we make eye contact. Now, from just words, it doesn’t sound like much. It honestly sounds like nothing. But I had this feeling he was trying to take a peek at me, because of how fast we made eye contact.
I noticed he changed his route home. Instead of walking home, he would take the bus. He always went to the bus stop across from mine. It was weird how often I saw him compared to last semester. I almost never saw him, and our school is so small, if you wanted to hide from someone, you might as well stay home.
My first class is across from his, and sometimes, if he was too late to go in, he would wait at the end of the hall for the bell to ring, then walk by my class as I’m walking out. I knew that was weird because his second class is downstairs. Also, there was this short period of time where he would skip the whole day, but he always made sure to make it to gym class, even if he was 40 minutes late.
The things that happen in gym, are what I call “small moments” because I didn’t really tell these details when telling everyone about this situation, because I didn’t wanna come off as delusional. But when he played volleyball with his friend, he always are sure to get a clear view of me. If he didn’t have a clear view, he would make his friend switch places with him. There was this other time where the class was playing volleyball, we were on the same team, and he was standing in front of me, and he kept doing quick 360 turns every few minutes. I thought it was just a weird quirk at the time. Anyway, at some point, I give up playing and sit on the benches behind the players. The other team are filled with the classes best players, so the balls kept flying at me. This girl spikes a ball so hard, and I can see it flying towards me so fast, so I duck and hide my face. But this guy ends up saving my ass, risking making his friend fall back in the process. I think that’s when I started to feel things lol.
There was this other time where the class was playing lahockey (mixture of lacrosse n hockey) and I almost accidentally bump into this other dudes chest, and right after that, this guy finds a way to swerve past me, like so close I could smell his cologne. That confused me, because there was so much room, there was no need for him to be THAT close.
At some point, I started doing things to see if he might actually like me or if I was just seeing things. I changed my usual spot in gym, to see if he would change his spot so he could see me. He ended up switching spots, where he could see me. Then I started hanging around my brother more, and that’s where I saw some things.
My brother liked to visit me in gym, because the teacher is chill with visitors, and all the fun people were in my class. There were only a few people at school that knew we were siblings, and I’m 100% sure he wasn’t one of them. He didn’t seem like himself whenever he saw me and my brother hanging out.
This one time, my brother walked in while the kids were playing keep up with the volleyball, and I turned my head for like 5 seconds, and when I went back to watching them, the guy wasn’t there anymore. He was sitting away from my view, using his phone. I didn’t even know he had phone- he never brought his phone out, like ever. No even during lunch.
During that same class, my brother and I play with a basketball, and he was making all these trick shots and I was cheering him on. When it came time to put everything away, this guy takes a basketball, makes a cool ass shot, and leaves. I didn’t even know he played basketball, he always has a volleyball in his hands. That was the first time I saw him with a basketball, then after that, I would see him play with a basketball by himself, when he would usually play volleyball with his friend.
Before spring break, he stopped trying to pretend to seem like he wasn’t looking at me, and just straight up looked at me. Head turn, body turn, eye contact. It was no longer “hidden” glances.
He would purposefully try and be closer, whether it be him going to the areas I frequent, or him running beside me in gym. There was this one time, where he kind of just stood next me. No reason for him to be there, because his friend was already leaving. (These two are always together)
It was the last day before spring break, and he comes to gym. He stands beside where I was sitting for a few minutes, then leaves. Did he just show up to class for 5 minutes? Why bother showing up if you’re just going to skip? and on the LAST day? I thought that was weird. I would’ve left during break lol

2023.05.27 22:15 Proletlariet Ty Lee
Circus freak is a compliment.
Bio: Ty Lee grew up with 6 identical sisters and hated being part of a matched set. She ran off and joined the circus where her phenomenal acrobatic ability earned her a living, but her life veered onto a different path when her childhood friend Azula wanted her help in hunting the Avatar. While she plagued the Avatar and his friends for a time, eventually Ty Lee betrayed Azula. She found a new path for herself as part of the Kyoshi Warriors, and learned to coincide her individuality with being part of a group.
Abilities: Ty lee's acrobatic ability made her a capable fighter, but her ability to chi-block set her apart from her contemporaries. With a few quick jabs or nerve pinches Ty Lee could paralyze the limbs or even whole bodies of her opponents.

i was also nominated for the us presidential scholarship, but i was already accepted by then
Essays: personal: 4/10 wrote about the unique color of my walls in my room and my struggle to decorate them (looking back it’s rly not that great)

Interviews: none
Results: Northwestern ED: accepted!!!
withdrew: usc, ucla, uc berkeley, uc davis, ucsd, ucsb, uc irvine, bu, upitt, umich, northeastern, uw seattle
Comments/Tips: i am still in shock that i got accepted. sure i have good stats and worked hard but compared to people i have seen with national awards, competitions, etc. my application seemed very average. i don’t think anything in particular really made me stand out, but i think that i was just a good fit for northwestern. of course do not overlook having good stats and writing essays that mean a lot to you but try and find your dream school where most students are very similar to you!
also something funny about my northwestern application. i actually forgot to submit my ap scores so i had to email them and send a picture
another note: i wasn’t even going to apply to northwestern until october of the year i was applying. i was originally going to apply to vanderbilt ED. just trust your gut on making decisions and it will work out
best of luck to everyone applying in the future and i hope this helped!

2023.05.27 07:06 Vexy May Contest Winners Thread
As a reminder, we have a new website this year for voting, and it's in a new format, too, in 0-5 votes instead of upvotes. When the voting deadline ends, the page automatically converts to a finalized standings page so you can see the final ratings for all flag submissions, their authors, and what you voted them (if you did).
Prompt: Redesign a bottom 25 new US city flag

2023.05.27 00:19 Cool-Serve2288 Is there a way to set up a outdoor volleyball net in a tennis or basketball court?
2023.05.27 00:02 Flat-Signature6589 OCONUS AF CIV never put on PPP, forced to resign
I need help. I am an AF CIV overseas and was never placed on PPP. I was told that it wasn't mandatory all they have to do is offer me a job somewhere and they did. They offered me Beale which I refused. I was told that if I refuse they can get me out of the AF CIV position in 5 days. (lots of scare tactics have been used on me throughout this process). Had I been put on PPP it would have opened up job opportunities for me since my PCS funding would have come from PPP. I could have gotten jobs that said they won't pay relocation. I would have had priority on jobs in the Colorado region where both my kids are attending university. I would have been put on the Colorado region for at least 1 month. As it stands they told me I have to leave by June 30th. I don't have orders, so I asked them to give me a letter stating I have funding so I could give that to TMO to schedule my HHG, they said no. I have to wait for orders. I am currently getting LQA to pay for my residence ($3600 a month). That payment ends June 30th and I don't have orders to move my HHG to leave this house. If I don't have orders I cannot do anything. I can't ship my car, I can't leave my house, I can't out process. I was forced to submit the resignation paperwork on Monday and was told it could take 4 months to get orders, so that means I will be out of pocket for my residence for 4 months. I will also lose base access July 3rd, so I won't even be able to get on post to out process. I was told that they will not give me any more time since I have reached my 5 year mark. Is PPP a mandatory requirement? Since they are telling me it is not, who do I call? Who can I contact? I have contacted my HR, my civilian career field manager, AFSPC, ACC, NOTHING!! I am getting no help. I contacted the IG and was told they aren't the correct IG for my Unit. I contacted HR's from other civilian organizations and they won't tell me if PPP is mandatory, they say, you are not part of our organization so we can't help you. They won't even tell me whether PPP is a mandatory right. I contacted an attorney and he costs $350 just to have a consultation. Then 7500 to be my attorney. Do I have to pay that or when I win the lawsuit, which I am sure I will cause I am nearly positive that PPP is a mandatory right of the employee, who pays the attorney?
I also asked my senior civilian why I was not put on PPP and I was told that since they found me a job in Beale they don't have to put me on PPP. Is that true?? Beale isn't in the Colorado region.
PS I know I am rambling, I am at my wits end. I called the state labor department- no help, I called the federal labor department - no help. I called OPM, no help. One of them told me to call the US embassy lol. I am pretty sure that isn't correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2023.05.26 11:21 ConsistentCaregiver1 Remote manage/launch games?
I'm an Xbox sim racer for the last 15 years, and now I've got my pc and I'm playing AC and ACC with it. It stands behind the TV and put a Playseat Trophy in front of my TV when I'm wanting to play, and gets it out of the way when I want to play an Xbox game with a controller. I don't have a keyboard and mouse attached, but I have a desk with a laptop on the other side of the room. Is it possible to start a game and configure the game settings from that laptop? Like a remote management tool, so that I don't need an keyboard and mouse on that pc. I know tools like VNC or RDP (with locks the user, so that's kinda pointless). More in the way that when I click start on my laptop the game loads on the PC. I'm using Steam, and I'm new to this part of sim racing. Any advice would be really helpful.

2023.05.26 06:01 Proletlariet Staten Island Vamps Saved
"It's like the old adage, you know. Co-workers die, vampire roommates...they're forever." Overview: Three centuries-old vampires named Nandor Laszlo, and Nadja immigrated to the United States over 50 years ago, arriving in Staten Island where they decided to make their home. They came to inhabit a house with an energy vampire known as Collin Robinson, and together the 4 lived as housemates with various familiars over the years.
Powers: Vampires enjoy an abundance of physical prowess and otherworldy abilities. Most can fly, transform into animals or mist, hypnotize humans and animals, and enjoy centuries of continued existence sustained by the blood of humans.
Limitations: Vampires require human blood to maintain their full strength. They are harmed by sunlight and religious symbolism or phrases. They cannot enter buildings without invitation, they do not have reflections, and human food causes them to violently projectile vomit.
"They would call me Nandor the Relentless because I would never relent." Born in 1262, Nandor was a soldier for the Ottoman Empire before coming to lead the now-dissolved nation of Al Quolanudar. He had many wives and created an infamous reputation for pillaging and destroying villages. Eventually he became a vampire and was driven from his country, coming to inhabit the United Sates in the modern day.
He now considers himself the leader of the Staten Island vampires and often calls house meetings to maintain order. Over the past 10 years he developed a close relationship with his familiar Guillermo de la Cruz who also occupies the house.
Strength Durability Flight Transformation Hypnosis Skill Misc. Powers/Limitations "Why on Earth would you do that? Why would you walk home when you could turn into a bat? BAT!" Born in England and considered the most handsome man in a village afflicted with leprosy, Laszlo became a vampire when a beautiful woman visited his 3rd story window in the middle of the night. That woman was Nadja, and after turning him the two entered a wild love affair that lasts for centuries.
Laszlo's many creative endeavors led to him inadvertently writing several hit songs like "Come on Eileen" and becoming a prolific porn actor. Through it all he remains with Nadja who often assists in getting him out of trouble when he needs it most.
Strength Durability Speed Flight Hypnosis Transformation Misc. Powers "Do you remember that first time we made love? It was so passionate, I accidentally cut off your head." Nadja made a meager living as a throat singer after being born into a village suffering centuries of famine and poverty. While singing to the snakes one night a serpent transformed into a vampire and bit her on the neck, turning her into a creature of the dark. Nadja was then chased from her village by the villagers and her own family.
Sometime after marrying Laszlo the two were driven from Europe due to anti-vampire prejudice and arrived in the United States. Nadja supported Laszlo in many of his creative endeavors and over the years maintained an on again/off again relationship with the reincarnated spirit of her past lover Gregor.
Strength Durability Speed Flight Climbing Transformation Hypnosis Misc. Powers/Limitations "When it comes to zoning ordinances, I have a few thoughts." Though his origins remain a mystery, the energy vampire Collin Robinson "came with" the Staten Island house when the other vampires moved in. Able to walk freely in the sunlight and capable of blending in more effectively than his fellows, Collin works a bland office job that serves as a fertile feeding ground.
Collin sustains himself by draining the energy of others through boredom, frustration, and annoyance. Though he most often feeds off coworkers, roommates, and those he trolls online he occasionally ventures out to city council meetings or places of worship. Despite often aggravating them he considers his housemates friends and has come to their assistance and multiple occasions.
Energy Draining - Explains how energy vampirism works, allowing him to drain energy through boring or frustrating others (even other vampires) and granting him exception to vampire's vulnerability to sunlight
- Nearly puts two teenagers to sleep, with Nandor saying the teens are drained of their nutritional value
- Refers to annoying an entire city council meeting as a "megafeed"
- Feeds off the discomfort of a man going crazy in public and intimates he is erect
- Drains a coworker so they start to fall asleep, then gets excited at a new hire because their energy might be "fresh"
- Duels Eve Russel, another energy vampire, and both float into the air as their duel flickers the lights
- Informs the other vampires that he is feeding on them
- Drains the others while they are trapped at the bottom of a well, and again when they are bats
- Feeds off energy from a couple's argument
- Drains a room of people watching TV, though they seem to regain strength soon after he is interrupted
- Eventually puts everyone in a room to sleep, and "overdid it" on one man, causing him to piss himself
- Drains people through the internet by trolling them
- When faced with a dangerous troll Collin bores it near to sleep until daybreak so it would turn into a statue, although it does manage to lunge out and grab him at the last moment
Misc. Info/Limitations Promotion-empowered For a brief period Collin was promoted to a managerial position in his company, offering him an unprecedented ability to feed on the energy of others. This amplified his abilities and granted him wholly unique powers until the company when bankrupt once everyone was too drained to do any work. - Gains energy from laughter at his jokes during a presentation everyone is forced to listen to
- Drains a conference room and says he feels he has the power of 1,000 cowboys, then smashes a metallic trashcan flat
- Levitates a painting into the air
- Becomes "something new" when overfed, increasing his power so that he grows back his hair, drains people instantly with a phrase, finger guns, or a nod, instantly kills plants with a gesture, and can telekinetically rocket someone into a wall hard enough to dent it
- Turns the house against eachother, performing a "megadrain" that leaves them almost paralyzes, and also develops the ability to fly which he uses to swim through the air
- Drains the other vampires so severely it advances their age and nearly kills them
- Drinks with just his mind, and then refills the bottle
- Triplicates himself to block off Guillermo's exit, and then fakes his own death...although the death of his triplicates is apparently real

2023.05.26 06:00 ShuBun-Kin How to Stay employed when I keep getting let go for my health?
Hi so uh, I'm in a really rough spot and I could really use some advice because I am really at the end of my rope right now.
So, I have posted similarly on a different account [this is an old acc of mine, but i have to use my laptop rn, and since this one is already signed in I figured id just do this.]Recently, I got into a youth program that's temporarily assisting with rent so I can stay off the streets because I had already been homeless for about a year. I've had trouble with work in the past because, for some reason or another, I had been let go from just about every sort of job available to me [Being prone to physically-incapacitating meltdowns kept me out of any sort of customer service, Being small and having respiratory issues + Dehydration problems kept me out of a lot of very physical jobs, struggles with memory/comprehending concepts kept me out of tech, etc.] and recently I had to start Physical therapy 3x a week because of pretty severe lower-back issues and sciatic nerve problems.
But, A few days ago, I applied for and was accepted for a position as a Cashier position at a restaurant because i felt my physical condition was improving enough to at least stand and take/send out orders and stuff like that. However, last night was my first shift, and it was a disaster. I started to struggle with prepping change, I couldn't hear the customers because my ears and head felt fuzzy and voices sounded distant, and I ended up getting so nervous and sick that I just. Threw up everywhere. only 2 hours into my 8hr shift. I eventually forced myself to just conscious enough to finish everything up, but it was a nightmare that left me physically incapacitated, crying, and stumbling home because I had become so weak that my body could barely support me. And I was supposed to go in tonight, but I woke up just as sick as the night before and had to call out to see a clinic tomorrow just so they can tell me nothing is wrong and i was just overworked- which is a bad thing considering this is day 1.
What am I supposed to do at this point? I already just know i am going to get fired again. I have had these issues for years and years, and trying to force myself through them has only made me physically ill at the end of it. Yet, despite my diagnoses for all of the things genuinely just. Wrong. with me, according to the government, I don't qualify for even SSI or unemployment- no matter how many representatives I've gone through. So, I don't have any choice BUT to try to work- even though Multiple places have let me go after less than a WEEK of work because my disabilities got in the way [one let me go on day 2].
Does anyone know what to do??? Is there any job out there that someone who is apparently inept at everything, according to employers themselves and personal experience, can even do? How am I supposed to manage working anywhere when it literally feels like it's physically killing me? I have no idea how to stay employed right now or do any of this and I am so scared i am going to be on the streets if I can't figure it out soon, and I already have enough problems with my mental health without worrying about that. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm seriously at the end of the line rn.

2023.05.26 03:08 Proletlariet Staten Island Vamps Saved

2023.05.26 00:36 AdamAlexanderRies A few notes on Sam Altman's senate testimony (2023-05-16) - pushback on popular narrative that OpenAI is seeking to cut the ladder out from beneath it
Full hearing (2:50:05) Overall I'm impressed with the senators' ostensible humility and the seriousness of proceedings, but frequently they seemed to ignore the existential nature of alignment for minutiae. Testifying were Christina Montgomery (IBM rep), Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO), and Gary Marcus (NYU). Sam in particular impressed me; it's easy to be well-spoken when one has a clear conscience. Senators were pretty explicit about long-standing problems with regulatory capture, and multiple times implied how impressed they were by the contrasting attitudes on display at this hearing.
Regulation in this case is more than healthy, and I'll sleep easier the more seriously it's taken. I'm not buying the narrative that OpenAI was there to do the slimy things that corporations stereotypically do. In reality, they seem to be taking a
more serious and responsible stance than lawmakers and most commentators I've encountered. Sam had to figuratively march to Washington himself and shake them by their lapels to get them to consider regulating his company. From a selfish business perspective OpenAI could have sat quietly on this golden egg until it hatched into genie-level wealth, with no obvious downside. All signs I see point to genuine concern for future of organized human life. If this line isn't out of selflessness, it's at worst out of fear.
Worth mentioning briefly is OpenAI's capped profit structure. Why do this if they intend to monopolize the AI sector?
Am I being naive? Help convince me otherwise if so.
10:30
Hawley mentions a Jung quote which reminded me of MLK Jr.'s "Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men."
43:30
Hawley "LLMs trained on media diets can predict public opinion" impressive
52:40
Durbin "...historic: I can't recall when we've had people representing large corporations or private sector entities come before us and plead with us to regulate them. Many people in the senate have based their careers around the opposite. What I'm hearing today is 'stop before I innovate again'."
57:00
Durbin "The magnitude of the challenge you're giving us is substantial; I'm not sure that we respond quickly and with enough expertise to deal with it."
2:17:45
Altman "The regulatory pressure should be on [OpenAI], it should be on Google, it should be on the other small set of people in the lead the most. We don't want to slow down smaller startups, we don't want to slow down open source efforts. We still want them to comply with things, [because] you can still cause great harm with a smaller model, but leaving the room and the space for new ideas, and new companies, and independent researchers to do their work and not putting a regulatory burden that say a company like us could handle but a smaller one couldn't I think is another peril and it's clearly a way that regulation [has gone awry in the past]."
2:30:25
Blumenthal "Having talked to you [Altman] privately I agree that you care deeply and intensely, but also that prospect of increased danger or risk resulting from even more complex and capable mechanisms certainly may be closer than a lot of people appreciate."
2:30:50
Gary Marcus "Let me just add for the record that I'm sitting closer to Sam [Altman], closer than I've ever sat to him except once before in my life, and that his sincerity in talking about those fears is very apparent physically in a way that doesn't communicate on the television screen."
2:48:15
Blumenthal "I sense that there is a willingness to participate here that is genuine and authentic." (relative to historical reticence of other corporate entities to engage)

2023.05.25 22:59 WildDogOne one year of driving MYP
Around a year ago, we got our MYP. I previously posted about what I disliked about it, but I've now used it for a longer time, so here are some further insights.
An important side note is that I'm based in Switzerland, so a lot of Tesla features are disabled or don't work here. We also do not have or endorse FSD.
TL;DR: I personally wouldn't buy one again for my use case.
The Good: - Long distance driving with Autopilot on highways has been great.
- Superchargers work flawlessly.
- The acceleration is a lot of fun.
- The interior is still in really good condition, even though we have dogs.
- The build quality from the German factory is quite good. Of course, I would expect more from a car that expensive, but it's nowhere near as bad as what I've heard from other parts of the world.
- Service has been good so far, except that in my opinion, if I get the yearly inspection, their job is to clean the car, not mine. It seems like that doesn't apply to Tesla...
- The trunk space is really big, and having the possibility to make a pretty flat bed is awesome.
- The exterior design really grew on me. I now think it looks quite nice.
- The dog mode is really awesome and works well.
- I like the fancy windscreen wipers with the water nozzle inside of them, that's some awesome tech I have not seen before.
The Bad: - The keyfob (which I bought for around $200) doesn't always work. A particularly bad example is when I park the car, get out, and come back to charge it. There's an 80% chance that it won't recognize the keyfob any more, so I have to press it manually.
- The navigation is okay, but I advise checking Google Maps for traffic.
- The car is very anxious. We have thin roads compared to the US, and I get screamed at by the Tesla at least once per drive because of oncoming traffic getting a little too close.
- ACC works kind of, it has gotten better, but it still makes a lot of very strange decisions. My old Golf had better ACC than this.
- ACC cannot be engaged while standing still (for example, at a red light). What is this nonsense?
- While in heavy traffic, it's not always possible to enable autosteer because you're going below the 30km/h limit. I don't understand why this is a thing.
- The car still does not use cameras to figure out the speed limit. It uses GPS data, which is correct around 90% of the time, but it's still absolutely annoying. Especially in a local town where I drive a lot, the whole town is seen at the wrong speed limit.
- Parking sensors seem to be optional. They sometimes beep, but I've had a few very near misses while parking, with them doing exactly nothing.
- Automatic parking has gotten better, but I still feel like the biggest tool when using it. My old Golf had better and quicker parking than a 2022 MYP.
- Why is there still nothing like birds eye view?
- The towing hitch is good, but opening that plastic cover to get it installed makes it really obvious how cheap the car actually is.
- The entertainment system thinks it knows what I want. For example, when I was listening to heavy loud music yesterday on my way home, it assumes I want the exact same thing today in the morning before my first coffee. I switched over to Bluetooth, and now I have no more issues.
- There's still no audible in Tesla. We got this car explicitly because of its longer range than our older car, but it can't entertain me. (Yes, I switched to Bluetooth, but I'm still annoyed.)
- On the topic of Bluetooth, there's significant delay (around 3-4 seconds). This is because of quality and buffering, I presume. However, it also breaks the possibility of using the car as an audio system for watching YouTube on my phone (not while driving, obviously).
- The software is inconsistent. Autopilot is not allowed to set the speed limit, but sometimes it does...
- Autopilot on the highway, as stated, is awesome, but it has twice tried to make me exit the highway at random. And no, it's not allowed to do that. Once again, the software is inconsistent.
- The mobile app doesn't work well. Want to start charging? Tough luck. Want to move the car forward or backward? Do it yourself.
- The turning circle is horrendous. Huge car, difficult to maneuver, no real parking assists? Feels like a bus
- The missing buttons are frustrating. Why is there no ACC reset? Why nothing for the wipers? Why don't the blinkers work when the entertainment system is rebooting? There are so many questions.
- And another thing, the blinkers have a very difficult touch point for me. Usually they either don't turn on at all, or go to blink forever mode which sadly fails to recognise most roundabout exits.
- The lights are a scam. In all my previous cars, I was able to drive in most conditions without needing high beams. With Tesla at night, it's always necessary.
- On the topic of high beams, going through a village? Everyone will enjoy some free lighting because the high beam automatics mostly don't recognize villages.
- The ride itself is horrible. Who cleared these super hard shocks? What the actual f*?
- The doors freeze in winter. Obviously, that happens with all cars, but with my other cars, I could just force open the door. (yeah yeah defrost using the app, no thanks)
- The automatic windscreen wiping is a joke.
- In general, the car feels bad in the winter. It doesn't feel like it was ever really tested in the cold.
- While on the topic of not testing, the Swiss Alps roads are a huge challenge for Tesla. It screams a lot.
- Where is my display in front of the driver? Or a hud? I still never got used to the lack of both. Have had slight mishaps on the road because I was trying to figure out my speed
The Nitpicking: - What's with the waving at other Tesla drivers? I do it on my motorbike, but cars?
- The sunroof. I get it, I don't have to look through it. But I'd like the option to close it.
- Why is there an update to add Mahjongg, but basic features don't work?
- I've curbed all the wheels multiple times. This is more of a driver issue than an issue with the car, but whatever.
Conclusion: I am a person who gets startled by sudden loud noises a lot. And since Teslas scream a lot, and especially in situations where there is not much room for error, I will definitely not get one again.
In general, it feels like this car was not made for Switzerland. Winter driving is a nuisance, roads are too small for it. Parking spaces are too small as well etc.

2023.05.25 21:59 Kindly-Bat227 Meeting my (M19) gf’s (20F) asian parents for the first time
Hi, burner acc here because I’m too self conscious lol. I (19m) and my gf (20f) are planning on me meeting her parents (they’re asian if that matters and I’m arab). I’m also an international student and she is not. We’ve been dating for around 8 months now and things are going exceptionally well. We both go to the same uni and have had shared courses in the past. Her parents are protective which is something I totally respect, so I want to show them I’m someone they can trust with their daughter. They are not religious, neither am I but I’m of a muslim background. The reason I am stressed is because I care about her very much and dont want anything standing in the way of me being with her.
Edit: They don’t know explicitly that she has a bf but they know we hang out a lot and we are “friends”.
What is the best way to present myself to them and actually sit down and talk to them? I am afraid they might be old fashioned especially because I’m not asian and they wanted my gf to be with a person from an asian background. Any advice would be really appreciated, thanks in advance :)

2023.05.25 17:42 Fonslayer RX 6700 XT with 34' ultra wide (3440x1440)
Hi, I have a RX 6700 XT and I am playing on a regular 1440p monitor on a desk with a wheel stand, I've been tempted to build a cockpit with a 34' ultra wide monitor, the thing is that I am afraid that my GPU will lose a lot of performance.
Anyone have this combination that can tell me how ACC performs on?
Thanks
