2023.06.05 17:51 LilBossLaura My own take on Cellini Spiral inspired by u/compulsivecolorer
![]() | When I saw the posts from u/compulsivecolorer showing off their spiral cuffs I knew I had to up my kandi game and figure out this technique! Thank you to this user for pushing our community to greater heights. I also attempted the tubular herringbone stitch inspired by them but thatās for another post :) submitted by LilBossLaura to kandi [link] [comments] This cuff is made using a beadweaving (new key term for me searching for tutorials) stitch called the Cellini Spiral. I used this yt video by Jill Wiseman. I really enjoyed this teacher and have already used a few of her other videos. One note about bead lingo, āstep upā means finishing your current row & starting a new one. I thought the hardest part of this technique was the initial getting started first few rows and the joining at the end using the circle stitch, which I havenāt done before. The cuff was made with ~85 12mm round resin striped white beads, ~170 9mm crystal transparent pony beads and ~340 6.5mm white pearl pony beads. Altogether close to 600 beads in this bad boy. All beads are from beadtin.com. You could use other beads but the small, medium, large size changes seem integral to the end effect. I used 0.8mm Crystal Tec clear stretchy string. If youāre going to use this string buy directly from the manufacturer on Amazon to make sure your product is authentic. I think fabric covered elastic would not look good with this stitch because it would call a lot of attention to the join & spacing between the medium & large sizes but I would certainly be curious to see if you do try it with that. I used what I think is a size 20 tapestry needle. You need a needle for this project because you will pass through beads multiple times and it gets tight especially when joining at the end. I used double knots topped with surgeons knots to secure ends & add string on. I also use a needle threader to get the string on the needle and occasionally a needle gripper to pull the needle through at the end. This project took me a few hours, maybe 3-4 including learning the stitch. I spend up considerably at the end as well so this is by no means the most time consuming kandi out there. I hope this info is helpful, I would like to encourage us here in this sub to push ourselves to learn more intermediate & advanced beadweaving techniques. IMO Kandi making is a positive, wholesome & expressive art form with a lot of potential for depth & technical engagement. I really enjoyed this challenge and hope you do too :) PLUR |

![]() | so im somewhat new to making kandi things and just started learning about peyote stitch after making a lot of cuffs and i was wondering how to start this pattern? I know you have to start from the longest part so from the middle but both sides end with one bead not two. Also it might be obvious but i seriously have no clue because ive only done panels with the peyote stitch never charms. submitted by Acceptable-Remote-30 to kandi [link] [comments] |
