Hi, I’m in my early 30s. I’ve been offered a creative/arts residency in a city that’s decently far from where I live now (about a 6-hour drive). My gut is torn over whether to accept it or not. The terms of the residency would be: -they will provide a room rent-free in a house share with two other artists in my field doing the same residency. the house is equipped with a studio with equipment and software for what we do, plus a gym, kitchen and co-working space. -in exchange, they would ask that I quit any work I’m doing that’s not directly related to the creative field (i.e. take a leap and start making money only creatively) -I would be allowed to leave the city but they’d ask that I keep it to a minimum. I didn’t ask what the limit for leaving is but I asked if I could take trips home every 3-4 weeks for a potential planned medical thing and they said no I'm hesitant to accept because: 1) I’m in a long-term relationship (over two years). It’s my first every LTR and I feel like my BF and I are compatible in so many ways. My BF has said in no uncertain terms he will end the relationship if I accept the residency as he doesn’t want to do long-distance for this period of time. (It’s most of a year.) 2) If I were sure this would be a great career move, it would be a hard but easy decision for me to leave my BF. I love him, but I wouldn’t want to date someone who was standing in the way of my career over a temporary situation where we could still see each other sometimes. However, I’m not sure, and I’m worried about what will happen if I basically implode my life for this opportunity (quit a job I’m happy in, leave a relationship I’m mostly happy in, and lose my housing in the city I’m currently living in) and then the residency program turns out to be BAD. My biggest fears:

• LONG-TERM CAREER RISK: I was adrift for a lot of my 20s and my job history is very patchy. I got the job I have now by knowing someone and it’s honestly the first job I’ve worked where I truly feel like the company culture “gets” me and cares more about me as an individual than blood sucking me dry for their own profit. I like the people and the vibe, and it feels like there’s room for growth. I don’t know if I could get a job like this again.
• SHORT-TERM FINANCIAL RISK: If the program doesn't want me to do "regular" work, then I'd be taking a huge risk in assuming that I can make enough creatively to pay my other expenses. The program wouldn't pay for anything other than housing - not food/car insurance/gas/etc. I have made some money doing things like creative coaching, paid feedback, etc but I've made more like in the low hundreds a month and my monthly expenses without rent would be at least $1,000. I have a lot in savings but this could potentially deplete at least 1/3 of my emergency fund. Based on what I know about career prospects in my industry, it's highly unlikely that I would make back enough money to replace my lost professional income. Most people in the industry never make a profit from it
• POSSIBLY WORSE OPPORTUNITIES: I’m currently in the #1 city in the country, probably the world, for live performance in my creative field. I’ve worked my way up for the past few years to the point where I have my own thing I’m producing on a regular basis that’s starting to get a small but sure following. I’m getting the opportunity to perform once a week at a place that may start paying me eventually, possibly even within the next year or two. My BF pointed out that if I leave to go be in a more remote place for such a long time period I’ll lose the momentum I’ve built up in this city and potentially be putting myself in a worse situation.
• RED FLAG ON THE PROGRAM?: My BF says that his friend, who's further up than us, says the specific person running this program has a bad reputation for taking advantage of young people and acting like more of an authority than he is, and that he's generally seen as a laughingstock. I have to admit that offering rent only, and not paying for other necessities like food, but requiring participants to quit their non-artistic work for the program feels a bit like a red flag to me though I can't quite put my finger on why
• DRIVING: I have a car but I'm not a confident driver. Where I live now there’s ample public transportation. If I took the residency, I would need to drive frequently. I’ve visited the city it's in before and there’s a bad combination of aggressive drivers and poorly designed/confusing highways.

Reasons why I want to accept:
1) I'm from the city I live in now and have never really lived anywhere else for an extended period of time. This feels like a relatively risk-free way to try living in a new place, and frankly I'm getting tired of how competitive and expensive my city is. I feel like everyone is jumping over each other to get opportunities. I'm a little tired of live performance and have been interested for a while in putting more emphasis on creating digital stuff / social media. A program like this that's in a more remote place with less going on so I have room to sit alone and write would be perfect for this
2) They're offering a room where I could be alone and undisturbed which is out of my reach in my city. Rent has skyrocketed the past few years. I can afford my rent now but BF and I are sharing a one-room apartment, we both work remote most of the time, and it is AWFUL. Yes I could get a co-working space or there's solutions like putting up barriers but I really just want to be able to roll out of bed and journal for an hour without anyone saying anything to me. I'm introverted and my social battery is constantly being drained in this living situation. Rent has gotten so bad that even if I left my BF's apartment, I'd have to pay an extra $500 a month just to have my own room in an apartment share on the absolute lowest end if I found a deal, but it would probably be closer to $700 to 800 more a month. I really want space to breathe.

My thought process

Right now, I'm leaning towards turning down the residency for all of the above reasons, but my heart is torn over it. I feel like if I had gotten this just a little bit earlier while I was still adrift it would have been perfect, but I might be more interested in it for the person I was then and how little I had going on, and now, I have too much that I'd be giving up if I accept.
I just did the math and with my typical current expenses minus rent and utilities, I'd be losing about $12,000 over the period without an income (I'm guesstimating that food & drink will be cheaper but that I'd be spending way more on gas than I currently do on public transportation). That same amount would net me about 7.5 months of Airbnb rental in a rural area I love where I'm comfortable driving. I almost would rather just make my own little "mini residency" where I rent a place one month out of the year and continue to work, but scale it back slightly. My BF isn't thrilled about me going away for an entire month, but he'd accept it.

TL:DR: I got offered a residency that would pay my rent in a smaller town but with some restrictions including quitting my job so I could focus 100% on art - but they wouldn't pay my other expenses. Also, if I take this opportunity my long term BF would break up with me rather than do long-distance, and I will definitely lose momentum that I've built up in the highly competitive city where I live now and have to shift my focus – which I'm interested in doing, but also feels scary! I'd appreciate any insight on how to make this decision.
I'm considering an alternative step of turning down this residency and instead renting a cabin for one month. This would cost me about $1,600. If I take the residency I would have to spend about $12,000 out of my savings unless I magically start making $1,000+ a month creatively, which is unlikely based on what I know about my field. It would be taking a huge gamble on myself to accept and I'm not sure that I'm ready.

SUPER LONG READ WARNING
The past:
We met here, on Reddit, at the height of the pandemic. In May 2022, with COVID restrictions loosneing, I took a flight over the Atlantic to be with her (36F) to finally meet in person. Since then, we’ve met up on four more occasions - sometimes here in my country, sometimes back in hers - with the latest being last month (where I lucky enough to spend time with her on her birthday). Each visit, we had the absolute time of our lives.
As I imagine is the case in all LDRs, despite so, so many good times - online and in person - there were bad times too. In those bad times, I always felt that the vast majority of these times arose as a result of our previous relationships; we had both come out of long-term, unhealthy relationships at similar times and were both initiating divorce proceedings.
Mental abuse. Manipulation. Gaslighting. These were the kind of things that we both encountered from our now ex partners. These things had obviously left marks and even scars on both of us. But we were aware of this. We talked about this, frequently.
The nature of our relationship, predominantly taking place by text messages, but also countless audio and video calls, really helped us to focus on communication. What we didn’t have in physical contact, we made up for in talking openly and honestly, creating a safe space to talk about issues, thoughts and feelings. Good or bad. Positive or negative.
The romance was aplenty. We expressed our love for one another. Even during disagreements or misunderstandings, we made it clear that it didn’t change the love we had for one another. We talked about how much we missed each other when we had to spend time apart. How much we were desperate to be back together as soon as possible. We talked about the future, the ideas of what we wanted when we pulled the trigger on one of us making a permanent move to the other’s country.
Overall, things always looked so positive.
The present:
Until a week ago, I thought I knew what my future looked like. What our future looked like.
Only five days prior (Monday 29th May), I had returned home to the UK following our latest time together in person. Unfortunately, an incident occured towards the end of my trip when we were travelling together - after a long day of travel and exploring, I had begin to shut down, becoming quieter and more withdrawn.
This wasn’t new behaviour from me. I had done this before, from distance through text and audio calls, on numerous occasions. On this occasion, I put it down to a combination of tiredness and scars from my previous relationship - in the past, I often found myself holding back on expressing certain kind of feelings, as stupid as it looks on paper, as my ex-partner would often turn them around on me. “But why are you tired? You slept well. How on Earth could you be? What have you been doing to be that tired? Nothing.” I felt I had to have such a good justification to feel certain ways, especially relating to negative moods: feeling tired; melancholy; anxiety. Everything needed such a well thought out reason. Therefore I found it easier just to withhold this information. Just say “everything is fine” even when my tone or face said otherwise.
As touched upon earlier, me and my long distance partner had openly discussed how our past would make appearances throughout our relationship. When they did, we would work through them together. And we did just that. It may have taken time sometimes to open up, it may have been recurring itrational thoughts that caused a problem, but we got through things, made it clear we would support each other and confirmed our love remained strong.
I would never expect us to solve and conquer any given issues at the first time of trying, or that it would be easy, whichever of us were reliving their past - nonetheless, we did discuss this incident as the evening progressed. I expressed where I felt these feelings came from and apologised for my behaviour. I didn’t think this incident was simply dismissed, but given how we enjoyed the rest of the next and the remainder of this trip, given the way we discussed what happened with a positive conclusion, I felt we had dealt with the matter and moved on.
But as I said, this behaviour of mine had happened before - and it would happen again, once I returned home. Experiencing jet lag and missing my partner dearly, along with some additional factors I faced when arriving home, my mood declined in a similar way. I didn’t express myself to the woman I loved so much, preferring to put up a shield like I did in the past, not wanting her to worry. But when I finally convinced myself to try and address what was going on, my partner was left feeling unsure. More unsure than she ever had done before.
I wanted to give her time to collect her thoughts, thinking the same outcome was coming as it always had before. But I had rested way too long on my laurels. She came back a day later following contemplation time to say she wasn’t sure she wanted this anymore…
As somebody who has experiences issues of anxiety throughout my life, I was aware of how negative thoughts can spiral into irrationality. Clearer heads prevail. But as the days wore on, my confusion and worry grew as her uncertainty wasn’t already becoming clearer. It has never taken this long. With each passing day, the irrational thoughts appeared in my head. This is it. This is the end.
What about all those things we had said about our future over the years, only as long as a few days ago? There was never an inkling that things were on remotely shaky ground, because we always managed to talk and work things out. Nothing ever felt as if it was left unresolved.
I was caught so off guard. As we always had, I expressed these feelings to her. She wanted me to. But as I questioned whether this was really the end, questioned the truth of all those previous statements as a result of this sudden, new territory we were in , the answer came in the early hours of Thursday morning. “I think we shouldn’t continue with thi”.
Of course my issues were triggering, there’s absolutely no denying that and I fully take responsibility for my actions (and lack of). She explained that whilst she felt she had dealt with this behaviour of mine and moved forward, in reality, she realises she had been surpressing her feelings and how much my behaviour had been affected her.
But in telling me what she had benen wrestling with over those past few days, it felt to me that a number of these issues also stemmed from her previous relationship as well. In previous conversations, including those relating to this predicament, she would raise a number of worries: she thought I would find her a “boring buzzkill” because that’s what her ex would tell her; she was sometimes scared I’d get bored of her, like her ex did; she said that her ex would tell her she “always found a problem” in their relationship to complain about and thought I would eventually think the same; her ex would tell her she “ruined everything” and when an issue was once raised during a vacation, he blamed her for the bad mood and for “ruining the entire trip”.
My issues, the one that has arisen again, played a factor, but we were coming to the point where the next step was on the horizon. We had talked about me moving to be with her on a permanent basis, a move that seemed even more logical with my current employer potentially laying off employers in the near future. Even if that wasn’t the case, our next potential trip wouldn’t be possible until October at the earliest. The longest we’ve been apart since meeting up. Now seemed a better time than any to start looking into these plans.
We were both open about this future - and for years, expressed how we couldn’t wait until this day could finally come. We would never have the pain of being apart for long periods of time. One final countdown. Then we could crash, together, after work. Snuggle up close. Turn into couch potatoea together under a blanket. We could cook each other dinner. Cook each other breakfast. Head off to work together. We both really wanted this and expressed it regularly.
But she admitted that the sudden reality of this, now seemingly so close, further added to her mixed feelings. Understandable, I felt - what a big step this will be. But the worries of my behaviour occuring in person when we were together permanently was suddenly too strong to ignore. From what she explained, these kind of doubts formed the basis of her decision.
The future:
We talked. We cried. I didn’t want things to end but didn’t want to be unattractively desperate, grovelling for her to stay. We talked about all of the many great things we experienced together and the feelings we have for one another. She told me she loved me and continues to love me so much. She wants to give me time to heal, have closure… but in the days since that last interaction, I begin to think that I should have been more vocal. She told me that I am free to message her to clarify things, but had also said during our last call that we should probably take some weeks to heal.
I did give in and message her yesterday, just to check in and see how she was and to check whether she was still ok to ask/say some things, especially this soon. She told me she was struggling with not interacting with me in the same ways as usual - sending memes, telling me about her day - and had been thinking about me a lot but ultimately wanted to give me space. Even that gave me hope.
I agreed to put my thoughts together soon, knowing she had a busy weekend with a family wedding, but after so much soul searching over the past few days, replaying and re-reading everything, looking at pictures and videos of our times together, I still strongly feel we could get through this.
I should have acted on my issues sooner, I fully understand that. Especially now, of course. No excuse, but I want to believe that because we always got through these moments, tackled the issues in the moment and moved forward positively, that I became slack at improving myself. But I am determined to be a better person. Not just for her, but for myself too. This issue will affect any partner I would potentially ever have and I recognise how unhealthy, how frustrating it can be to deal with. I’ve booked counselling sessions, one of which I have already undertaken to make a start on addressing this problem.
But I don’t want somebody else to experience the positive changes I’m working on. I want it to be her.
I’m sure some of you have been in similar scenarios, but given my wall of text above, should I be fighting for this like my head and heart are shouting out for me to do? I feel there is so much good still here. So, so much that is worth saving. I fully appreciate the fact that this has all come from one partner’s perspective and I’m happy to try as best I can to elaborate further without giving too much personal/identifiable information away.

Having some major difficulties getting an industry job that I actually want to work (namely, getting into a PhD level position in RnD where I can flex my scientific background). This is going to be part rant.My background: I would like to believe that I am a competitive candidate. Graduated from a competitive program with a PhD. 6 publications (some co-authors). Worked at the NIH prior to graduate school (post-bac IRTA program). Had the option to return to the NIH as a postdoc, but Bethesda area is quite expensive these days for a postdoc salary. Following graduation, I had an excellent postdoctoral position set up at RIKEN in Japan. Received 3 years of highly competitive postdoctoral funding (5-page written research proposal with a funding rate of less than 10%). Pandemic happened. Japan closed its borders before I was able to get my visa. Locked out of the country for 2.5 years. Forced to jump from one CRO to CDMO because I needed a job immediately and to increase salary.
Right now I have 3 years of industry experience and currently work for a real shitty CDMO that is a complete trainwreck that I desperately want to leave (immensely disorganized and mismanaged. Management places significant hurdles and roadblocks that prevent employees from developing beyond their role). I am a workaholic and my boss actually restricts me from doing too much on the job despite being a high performer and efficient. The trade off is that I have gotten to the point that I work a solid 5-6 hour day and simply leave when I'm finished with my assigned work. I gave up asking to do more work, because my requests are always ignored. Now I go home early and study programming instead (certificate program at local University). My current role is well compensated but I am bored to death. It's in quality control with a sprinkling of method validation/qualification work. However, my prior experience in a CRO was pure method validation work but the job was just too easy and not stimulating enough.
Consequently, I am trying to transition away from CRO/CDMOs and work in something that is more RnD/product development focused where I feel like I would get the opportunity to work on more challenging and exciting work.I recently applied for some RnD positions locally. Got an HR screen at one but ghosted after that. In hindsight, I could have been better prepared. I was taken aback that there was such little focus on my academic research background that matched nicely with the job requirements and all they seemed to care about was my recent experience that was rather unrelated in scope. Now I know what to expect in future HR screens. In the interview I still thought I made valuable connections between my academic work and the job posting, but I guess not enough. Nothing from the other positions.
Question for those here that have found themselves in a similar position (CRO/CDMO to RnD). How easy is it to make this transition? How wide of a net do you have to cast? I'm applying locally and with 3 years of experience in industry, I would have hoped that would make me more competitive than when I started looking for jobs when I had 0 experience. But with a tight market, I'm realizing that I'm likely not going to find a local position here. I generally write a brief cover letter of my background and how it relates to the job description. But is the cover letter necessary? My resume has gone through many edits over the past few years and is always tailored to the job I'm applying to (keyword matching). It's well polished and 2 pages. It's possible I'm making some errors here but it's brief and to the point. Skills/expertise presented right at the top of the first page. I'm probably acting a bit entitled and I need to do away with that attitude. It's like, hey, I'm good enough to work at some of the best research institutes in the world but I'm not good enough for your shitty little company? It's frustrating. Advice? Possibly adding connections on LinkedIn to companies I might want to work for in other areas of the country? Expand LinkedIn network in general for more networking opportunities?

From 11th June insanepeoplefacebook will shut off posting and enter ‘Restricted’ mode. This will mean no more posts will be coming through for the next couple days, until Reddit decide to revert their stance. Our decision to bring forward the blackout is a result of the actions of the Reddit CEO as well as an abysmal AMA that did little to answer our questions or concerns.
The situation
As you may have noticed over the past week, there has been a lot of discussion surrounding Reddit’s recent policy change to charge access to its API. These changes effectively kill third-party apps such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun and many others due to the exorbitant amount Reddit is asking from them to continue access to their API - with these changes threatening to cost apps such as Apollo an upwards of $20 million a year to keep running as is. These prices place an enormous financial burden on these third-party developers, making it unfeasible to continue operations. This has resulted in a number of apps announcing their plans to shut down, including Apollo.
With these apps shutting down, it also makes our jobs as Moderators that much harder. Many of us mods have had to rely on these third-party applications in order to effectively do our job, simply because the official Reddit app doesn’t have the sufficient tools that these other apps offer. This will lead to many regular users having a subpar experience due to Moderators not having the tools to manage their communities well enough.
These changes also have drastic effects on those that need to use those third-party apps for accessibility reasons, due to the official app, nor new Reddit, providing proper levels of accessibility for those that need it. It’s one step closer to making Reddit totally inaccessible to many users.
The Reddit CEO’s recent antics
We also have concerns that Reddit’s very own CEO is comfortable and willing enough to lie, twist facts and gaslight the userbase into being on ‘their’ side in way of accusing Apollo’s developer, Christian, of blackmail and threatening Reddit. And, when proven to be lying through audio recordings, deciding to double down on villainizing said developer in his most recent ‘AMA’.
As moderators and users, this kind of behaviour erodes our trust in the company’s leadership and undermines our confidence in any statements or actions they take. The AMA today was also abysmal enough to the point we wanted to bring our blackout forward from June 12th. It failed to answer any of our questions or concerns.

We also cannot privatise the subreddit indefinitely. We just can’t. At the end of the day Admins have made it clear on numerous occasions that attempting to do so will result in intervention. In what way? We aren’t entirely sure, and this is why we will be reviewing our stance on a daily basis. Reddit, at the end of the day, is a business first and foremost. It is defined by the existence of our communities. Without a clear path to end the protest, Reddit must find a solution to end it themselves. The longer the blackout drags on, and and the harder we push them, the more likely it is that they’ll consider playing hard ball and going with the “Nuclear” option of removing Mod Teams and replacing them with those that they know will be compliant. While this option runs the risk of destroying communities due to replacements who don’t actually understand the community they’re running, it’s likely to be a better option for Reddit compared to having half their website shut down.
We will try our best to keep everyone updated on our decision making.

I think that the Catholic Church is wrong, both as an institution, as a religion and as a moral system. It has committed some horrors through the ages and it has even retarded the development of science. I'm not any other kind of Christian.
But... I also dislike the current tendencies of the Western world toward a radical sexual liberation, with this I mean: women abort as if it were contraception, promiscuity is generalized, everything that sounds sexually diverse is considered ok, people are in general less family-oriented.
I'm not saying that the moral code of Christianity is correct either, because I consider it too unnaturally restrictive on sexual matters. I think maybe the right thing is a middle point, does anyone in this subreddit think similarly?

RESOLVED, That a majority of all members elected to each house of the general assembly voting therefore, the following amendments to the Constitution of the State of Rhode Island be proposed to the qualified electors of the state in accordance with the provisions of Article XIV of the Constitution for their approval and that, if approved, it add an additional section to Article I, which is hereby amended, effective January 1 of the year following the next statewide general election, to read as follows:
Section 25. Right to reproductive freedom.
(1) Every individual has a fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which entails the right to make and effectuate decisions about all matters relating to pregnancy, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion care, miscarriage management, and infertility care.
An individual’s right to reproductive freedom shall not be denied, burdened, nor infringed upon unless justified by a compelling state interest achieved by the least restrictive means.
Notwithstanding the above, the state may regulate the provision of abortion care after fetal viability, provided that in no circumstance shall the state prohibit an abortion that, in the professional judgement of an attending health care professional, is medically indicated to protect the life or physical or mental health of the pregnant individual.
(2) The state shall not discriminate in the protection or enforcement of this fundamental right.
(3) The state shall not penalize, prosecute, or otherwise take adverse action against an individual based on their, actual, potential, perceived, or alleged pregnancy outcomes, including but not limited to miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion. Nor shall the state penalize, prosecute, or otherwise take adverse action against someone for aiding or assisting a pregnant individual in exercising their right to reproductive freedom with their voluntary consent.
(4) For the purposes of this section:
A state interest is “compelling” only if it is for the limited purpose of protecting the health of an individual seeking care, consistent with accepted clinical standards of practice and evidence-based medicine, and does not infringe on that individual’s autonomous decision-making. “Fetal viability” means: the point in pregnancy when, in the professional judgement of an attending health care professional and based on the particular facts of the case, there is a significant likelihood of the fetus’s sustained survival outside of the uterus without the application of extraordinary medical measures.
RESOLVED, That said proposition of amendment shall be submitted to the electors for their approval or rejection at the next statewide general election. The voting places in the several cities and towns shall be kept open during the hours required by law for voting therein for general officers or members of the general assembly of the state; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the secretary of state shall cause the said proposition of amendments to be published as a part of this resolution in the newspapers of the state prior to the date of the said meetings of the said electors; and the said proposition shall be inserted in the warrants or notices to be issued previous to said meetings of the electors for the purpose of warning the town, ward, or district meetings, and said proposition shall be read by the town, ward, or district meetings to be held aforesaid; and be it further

DISCLAIMER
I almost didn’t post this. Not because I think it’s too wild or doesn’t make any sense. In fact, quite the opposite. The information I present here, which is the result of countless hours spent re-watching videos, listening to audio, and cross-referencing official information, is something that now seems to me to be far too viable not to be correct. I have actually tried to prove this theory wrong and… well basically I can’t. So, please bear this in mind as you read. This could end up being one of those rare occasions when we’re actually onto something. Either way, I hope you enjoy the post.
First point; this is going to be a long post. Given the subject matter, it needs to be. Second point; I have not added any images or videos directly into the post but have instead included a great many links embedded within the text itself. This should ensure that the post is no longer than it needs to be but should still allow you sufficient opportunity to fully scrutinize every part of my theory, so that you can determine for yourself whether or not you think it holds weight.
I have organised all of the information under specific headings designed to make everything more accessible. Each section focuses on a particular aspect of the main theory. Even if you think that some of what you are reading may not be relevant, I can assure you that everything written here has been included as an important part of a much larger puzzle, and so I would advise that you patiently make your way through the entirety of the post. In an effort to ensure that your time invested here is appropriately rewarded, and in the spirit of preserving the scientific method, I have tried to keep flavor text and blind speculation down to an absolute minimum.
Note that I will be listing various aspects of this post as being confirmed correct or incorrect as and when we have official information to verify such facts. So here we are, after five long years of waiting, the inevitable release of Starfield, like the event horizon of some nearby black hole, is almost upon us. With the Showcase now a mere 24 hours away, it is time for us to take a look at what makes this particular game so special, as well as discovering just how we will be given the means to fly among the stars.
And so, without further ado, let us begin.
Hitchhiker's Guide
From watching gameplay footage, and also listening to various devs talk about Starfield, we know that at some along the early part of the story, we will find ourselves on board a Constellation Starship, which is appropriately named Frontier. With us on the ship is VASCO, an adorable robot assistant who will eventually become one of our possible companions. But how did we even end up on this ship? Well firstly, I do not believe that Frontier is our ship, or at least not at first. And so, we’re probably here in the capacity of a ‘guest’ of some kind, or more likely, a hitchhiker.
If we take a look at this scene, we first hear a male shouting “that’s the Crimson Fleet!” and then a female saying “Everybody get ready!” After this, we can see that the group we are with is attacked. We already know that we uncover some kind of unknown artifact whilst mining for ore near the beginning of the Main Quest, and that the aforementioned Crimson Fleet is essentially an organised collective of space pirates. But what we don’t know is why they attacked us. This is not something I will be diving into in this particular post, although I do have some theories about this. But the relevance of the series of events here described cannot be understated, as they seem to be the launching point for our entry into Constellation and the adventures that follow.
Next, if we look a little further, we can see that this seemingly-important member of Constellation is not with us when we arrive at their Headquarters on Jemison, which suggests that he may have been killed during the above mentioned attack. Also note that, in-spite of not having a voiced protagonist this time round, we can clearly hear somebody talking over Frontier’s comms system, which means that there must be a designated pilot. Given the fact that we don’t see anyone who is confirmed as being the pilot (although it may actually be this person), it is safe to assume that this designated individual was with us during the flight but was first injured in the attack on the planet’s surface and was then taken to Medical Bay after we successfully land on Jemison.
It is my belief that, after perhaps being exposed to some kind of energy pulse from a grenade or something similar, the first member of Constellation we see was outright killed (hence why we are then asked to join up ourselves, perhaps to take over his role). The pilot, however, clearly survived as we can hear him talking to Control over the comms system during what is actually an extended two-way conversation, but I think that his vision was somehow compromised so that, even though he is able to speak, he is temporarily unable to see. The good news about this most unfortunate situation is that it opens the door for us to quickly step into the hot seat and, with the pilot acting as our guide, we will experience our very first Starfield flight tutorial.
Radio Chatter
If you listen to the beginning of both the Official Teaser Trailer and Official Gameplay Reveal for Starfield, you will hear both halves of the radio conversation I have referenced above, or at least the parts of it that Bethesda have given us so far. The first of these is spoken by somebody being referred to as Control, and the second by Frontier’s pilot. I previously posted a link to an audio I made and put up on Soundcloud, which gives us all of the confirmed parts of this conversation carefully spliced together and enhanced for clarity. Note that some of the audio, despite these enhancements, is a little hard to make out.
The final, in-game conversation is going to be a fair bit longer than what we have here and will be based on the specific processes that are required before attempting a Grav Jump. I don’t think we will hear this conversation every time we perform a Jump (especially given that our protagonist does not speak), but the first time we experience this early step-out moment, a detailed and appropriate pre-launch conversation will only serve to enhance what I’m sure will be an awe-inspiring experience.
Note that, at the end of this post, I have provided a link to a written transcript detailing what I think is being said in the full version of the above conversation. In the meantime, here is a breakdown of the confirmed parts of this audio. This is slightly different from the version I previously posted, due to new evidence clarifying exactly what is being said here. I have left line-spaces to help show where the missing parts of the audio will eventually go:

Road-Trip
At first, this seems like a typical, albeit futuristic version of an Air Traffic Control conversation. After all, much of what is being said does sound very familiar, and the rest seems appropriate to Starfield’s apparent Hard Science Fiction theme. But it’s only when you start digging a little deeper that you realize that something else is going on here as well.
Note the following terms taken from the above transcript: Road, Exit, Course, Coordinates, Bus, Route, Departure and Lane. All these words share a very noticeable common theme. They are all in some way related to Road Networks. Note also the phrase “green across the board," which sounds like it could also be a reference to Traffic Lights.
Zooming Along
Next, let’s look at this map, which features the home of a certain Software Development Company you may have heard of. If you zoom out a fair bit, you will see two large Cities, namely Washington and Baltimore. Zoom out a little more, and you can now see the cities of Richmond to the South and Pittsburgh to the North-West. Zoom back in over any of these four major cities, and you will see that there are many more smaller locations within each of the city limits.
Now scroll the map over to any of the areas outside of these cities, and you will find a multitude of other important locations. These include residential areas, airports, medical facilities, sports and leisure facilities, research facilities, manufacturing facilities, tech companies, supermarkets), hotels, places of worship, and many others. All the above locations are important in one way of another to the continued functioning of our society, and all can be placed within two distinct categories. These are Population Centers and Infrastructure.
You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat
Now imagine that there has been some kind of catastrophic flood in this area, and all these locations, although somehow miraculously intact, are now separated from each other as a series of individual islands in the middle of a newly formed ‘ocean’. Suddenly, the existing Road Network, along with any cars, busses, and other road vehicles, would become useless. You would need to use a completely different system, one designed to properly accommodate these changes, which would of course have to incorporate such elements as harbors, shipping routes, and vehicles capable of travelling along a waterway.
Now let’s zoom out again, this time further. Much, much, further. Each location has now been transformed into either a planet or a moon, spread across various star systems covering a vast region of space. Each one of these planets and moons will have its own individual features, resources, possible inhabitants, and infrastructure requirements. With such a quantum leap in terms of scale, if we now wanted to travel between these locations, which could in many cases end up being several light years apart, we are going to need something far bigger in terms of scale, complexity, and technology.
Shown In 60 Seconds
During the first ever 60 seconds of Starfield footage we all saw, shown in the form of the Official Announcement Teaser at the end of BE3 on June 11th 2018 (which redditor InToddWeTrust2023 has very nicely referenced here), we were given some surprisingly important clues which now form the cornerstone of this theory. Not only have these clues stacked up with every consecutive trailer released, as well as many of the other official videos and various other snippets of information, but their sheer level of consistency places them well outside the realm of possible coincidence.
Some of these additional clues were given to us in the two videos referenced above which contain the comms audio. The second of these two videos, namely the Official Gameplay Reveal, dropped, as would be expected, at the end of last year’s Showcase on June 12th 2022. Some of the most crucial information we have been given to date regarding my theory is actually contained in the 70 seconds shown before Todd even begins to speak. We will discuss the relevance of all of this a little further on in the post.
Lo-go/no go
First, some Space related terminology. In Mission Control speak, a Launch Status Check, also known as a go/no go poll, is part of a very carefully designed system implemented by US Space Agencies to ensure maximum safety and the best possible survival chance of both the ship and its crew prior to launch. This, or something similar, will undoubtedly form an integral part of the pre-launch, or rather, pre-Jump procedures incorporated into Starfield, especially given what we know in relation to its specific influences, attention to detail, and focus on realism.
But let's look for a moment at a different type of launch. Let's look at the process of carefully managing the flow of information when you are launching a long-awaited, multi-million-dollar triple-A video game and you happen to be a major player. With the combined might of Bethesda, Zenimax, and now Microsoft, there is clearly a great deal of scope in terms of how they were able to execute all of the steps involved in this process. One critically important factor, and one that has been masterfully implemented in the promotion of Starfield, is the use of familiar iconography.
If we look at the iconography seen during the promotion of Starfield, we can see that there are two main elements. These are the circular Starfield logo, first unveiled in 2018, and of course the recently updated Bethesda Games Studios logo, which has existed in various iterations since around 2006. Both of these share a common, simplistic yet effective design, and the BGS logo in particular is now light years ahead of its original design as seen on box art and in promotional materials for The Elder Scrolls VI Oblivion. At the time of Oblivion’s release, the long-term use of this particular logo, which incorporates the now familiar Fallout Vault Door, was a little uncertain due to restrictions with the associated licence (more on this below). But once this matter had been resolved, it would make a lot of sense that they would then develop this logo into the much sharper, more modern version we see today.
Licenced to Fly
Way back in April of 2007, Bethesda realized one of their biggest long-term business goals by finally securing the full rights to the highly acclaimed Fallout series. Prior to this, in 2004, they had been granted limited rights which would allow them to develop Fallout 3 and then two additional games, but they clearly wanted full and unrestricted access to the franchise and all of its assets. Since this time, in addition to Fallout 3, we have seen the release of Fallout New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76, as well as a number of smaller projects, including Fallout Shelter. This is all the proof you need to confirm the fact that, in-spite of some initial setbacks, Bethesda’s insistence on going the extra mile with regards to securing the full franchise, was most definitely worth it, and was seen by many as a landmark achievement.
Looking at the most recent entry to this ever-expanding series, namely Fallout 76, I would like to draw your attention to two of this particular game’s trailers. First, we have the Fallout 76 Official Trailer from 2018, and then The Pitt Story Trailer from 2022. In the first of these two trailers, at around the 35 second mark, we see the new BGS logo once again, and then near the end of the video we see a smaller version, neatly tucked away over on the left-hand side of the usual copyright notice. If we then look at the second trailer, at around… Hold on a second, let me rewind that a bit… wait, what?
This is where things start to get really interesting.
One Small Step
Okay, going back to the Fallout 76 trailers, although the smaller version of the BGS logo can be seen at or near the end of each of these, only the first incorporates the larger, ‘splash-screen’ version. “But why is this even important?” you may ask. “They may have simply forgotten to include this detail in the second trailer.” I can assure you that this is most certainly not the case. In fact, I am one-hundred-percent confident that this was quite intentional. I would even go as far as saying that this one, seemingly insignificant detail, actually brings us a step closer to unlocking the secrets of Starfield. Essentially, Bethesda have taken full advantage of how we all think we remember certain details, and as such, this is an example of truly expert-level hidden marketing on their part. I also believe it will form the basis of at least one of the big reveals during the showcase.
One Giant Leap
Let’s go back one more time to the Announcement Teaser and the Gameplay Reveal for Starfield. Look at how drastically different the BGS logo is in both of these videos compared to any of those used in promoting Fallout 76. What will really blow your mind here is the fact that all four of the trailers mentioned above were first shown to us during the same two Showcases we have just been discussing! In other words, the first of these videos for both Fallout 76 and Starfield were both unveiled at the 2018 Showcase, and the second of each at the 2022 Showcase. And yet each respective pair make use of drastically different versions of what we all thought was the exact same logo. This means that Starfield has been designed, from the ground up, to be viewed and experienced in a totally different way than, and completely separate from, any of Bethesda’s previous titles.
To clarify this point, after extensive research, I can confirm that this new, animated BGS logo, with the vault door rolling off to the left and then ‘opening up’ just before the text appears, has never been featured anywhere in an official capacity that is not directly related to Starfield. It is completely unique to this specific IP. This fact ties together everything we have looked at in the post so far. It also lets us see things from a completely different ‘orbital’ perspective. For example, I believe that this information gives us the real reason why Bethesda worked so hard to secure the full rights to the Fallout franchise in the way that they did. Not only did they wish to create awesome games set within the Fallout universe, but they also needed total freedom to make use of a specific part of this franchise that so that they could then incorporate it into their next, very very big, space related IP.
For Mankind
Okay. This is the part you’ve all been waiting so patiently for. This is the big reveal. For months now, perhaps even years, we have all been drip-fed the idea that Starfield is essentially “Skyrim in Space.” The reason I think that we have been told this is to misdirect us away from an intrinsic, interwoven connection between Starfield and Bethesda’s other major franchise, which is of course Fallout. But just to put your mind at rest, I do not for a nanosecond believe that the reveal will be, “We fooled you all, it’s actually Fallout in space!” no matter how cool that might at first sound.
What I do believe is that Starfield will be so different and so unique when viewed alongside anything else that Bethesda have published, that it will quite literally take your breath away. This game, the spark of which was first ignited 25 years ago, is Todd Howard’s true passion project. Everything else was simply the path he took to finally get here. This is the story he has always wanted to tell, the story of Mankind’s true legacy. And it all starts, just as it did when Interplay released the original Fallout) game back in 1997, with a familiar, but staggeringly different Vault Door.
The Vault
There is a very special and completely unique hidden Vault in Starfield. Not only is this particular Vault unlike anything you have previously seen anywhere within the Fallout universe, but it is also unlike anything you have seen in any game. Period.
This hidden Vault is actually the key to both interstellar and interplanetary travel. And it also happens to be the single biggest construction project in human history, extending across a span of almost one-hundred light years. And it is not even close to being completed, even after more than two-hundred years of construction.
This Vault is, by its very nature, completely invisible and shielded away from view. It is quite literally hidden in plain sight, and it can only be accessed through one of its specially crafted Vault Doors. But what does all of this mean for gameplay, and how does something like this even work? I’m glad you asked! Let’s strap in and prepare for launch, because we’re all in for an incredible ride.
Welcome, ladies and gentlemen... to The Starfield
Entering The Starfield
The following is my own interpretation, based on scientific reasoning and a huge amount of detailed analysis, of exactly how I think this system works. It is, as ever, backed up with several links throughout, as well as additional evidence for which I shall provide a separate link at end of the post. I am expecting perhaps some differences in terms of specific details once we get hold of the final release of Starfield, but I am confident that I am at the very least well within the ballpark with all of this. Okay, here goes.
The Science Behind the Magic
Starfield is the name given to a vast network of interconnecting tunnels, spanning the entirety of the Settled Systems, providing us with a very fast and highly practical means of travelling between different planets, and even different star systems. These tunnels exist within a localized, folded state, known as Tunnel-Space. The construction of the Starfield is made possible thanks to a technological breakthrough which allows gravitational waves (or Gravitons) to be woven together to form something known as a Gravity-Tunnel, which is then stretched out and connected between any two existing stellar objects, such as two planets in a given system, of even two stars from different systems.
In order to maintain the integrity of each tunnel, it is wrapped in a special type of Exotic Matter known as Superfluid Helium. This has a number of highly unusual properties, including negative energy density and negative energy pressure. This essentially makes it the physical-space equivalent of time going in reverse, meaning that it is capable of counteracting the effects of any conventional physical force, including the gravitational pull of a black hole. As such, it will hold the structure of the Gravity-Tunnel together for an indefinite period of time over a potentially infinite distance through space.
Within the Starfield are a large number of Nodes and Junction Points. Nodes are used to connect together all of the planets in any one Star System, and Junction Points then connect different Star Systems together, making use of much larger Gravity-Tunnels that are the equivalent of Interstate Highways. Note that all flight between any given planet and any or all of its moons is handled locally, outside of the Starfield.
Because all of the stars, planets, and moons in the Settled Systems are in a constant state of flux, by which I mean their relative distance and positions) are constantly changing in respect to each other, the tunnels within the Starfield have been designed to be able to expand and contract almost infinitely so that they can accommodate any changes in these two factors depending on when, where, and how you travel.
Although the main tunnels are designed to transport people, resources, waste, and other items directly relating to either Population Centers or Infrastructure, I believe there is also a sub-system) that will allow much smaller objects, such as probes, to carry data-packets that can be upload at one location and then downloaded at another, effectively solving the problem of inoperable delays in communication between remote locations.
Inside of each Gravity-Tunnel is a bi-directional singularity, which can be switched between two opposite polarities whenever required with the help of the surrounding Exotic Matter, allowing for two-way traffic inside what is essentially a one-way system. This means that, as long as you are able to ensure the correct polarity of all connecting Nodes and Junction Points along your route (as in “Sky-Bus is converged” and “Jemison route looks good”), you will be able to travel, in theory at least, from any point A to any point B, as long as all of the required interconnections exist within the system.
When travelling through the Starfield, you will set a specific route, known as a Sky-Bus, which is a specified pathway that runs from your staring location to your destination. You will then, with the help of Starfield Control, access the tunnels using a Gating System which I will explain below. Incidentally, I believe that the accepted in-universe name for the actual transit network that we are making use of within the Starfield is the Sky-Bus Tunnel System.
Each tunnel in this system actually has two separate ‘Lanes’, one on the left for outbound traffic, and one on the right for incoming traffic. As I have explained above, each of these tunnels can only accommodate a single direction of traffic flow at any given time. And so, a safety measure had to be incorporated to prevent any accidental attempts to travel the wrong way down a tunnel and destroying yourself and your ship.
At each end of any given Node or Junction Point is a Gate. These are the ‘Vault Doors’ I have been referring to. The Gate comprises of a gigantic metal outer-ring connecting to an inner Vault Door. This Vault Door will either be at the center (closed position), or the left (open position) of the outer ring. The open/left position will allow outbound traffic to leave the orbit of the current planet they are in proximity to. To allow inbound traffic, the entire outer ring, with the Vault Door locked in place, will rotate clockwise through 180 degrees to the open/right position to allow access to the inbound Lane. When the outbound Lane is then once again required, the structure then continues to rotate in a clockwise motion until it reaches the open/left position once again. When required, the Vault Door will return to the neutral position at the center of the ring, and the tunnel will be locked.
Regarding Grav Jumps: Whenever you wish to perform a Grav-Jump, you must first request permission from Starfield Control, who will guide you through the process. Once the route is set and your Exit Gate is locked in place, by activating your ship’s Grav-Drive, along with it’s incorporated spooling system, you will first lock on to the front of the tunnel entrance.
Next, using a system similar to an Aircraft Catapult, you will be pulled into the tunnel at great speed, where the Graviton Loop Array will hold your ship in-place inside the tunnel, and will also ensure you don’t accidentally go down the wrong path. At the other end, the spooling system described above then acts as an Arresting Cable, slowing you down over a very short distance.
If all of the above is actually correct, especially the last part, then I think I will be having this on repeat in the background before Grav-Jumps!

Hicks, Skids, Hockey players, and Degens all,
Many of you are already aware, but in case you have not heard: Reddit is essentially killing third party apps. They are doing so by making the cost of doing business unsustainably high, refusing to communicate with developers, and engaging in personal attacks.
Since the open letter was published, the situation has escalated dramatically. Several of the largest third party app devs have announced that they’re permanently shuttering their projects effective 30th June.

In Christian Selig’s post specifically, he goes through every step of what’s happened so far, and reveals that Reddit have treated him and the other devs abominably, even going so far as to defame Christian personally. For a corporation the size of Reddit to target individuals who have done nothing but improve their site and bring in the amount of traffic that third party apps generate is ludicrous. It is self-sabotage at its worst.
A call Thursday between the ModCouncil and Reddit Admins did not inspire any confidence of an equitable solution. The AMA with Spez yesterday only served to prove that he has no interest in bargaining in good faith, only in doubling down on his weirdly personal vendetta against Selig. To be blunt, we didn’t expect things to go this far. It's obvious to the meanest intelligence that the reasonable thing for Reddit to do would be to sit down at the negotiating table with the devs and try to find some middle ground.
Reddit did not choose to be reasonable.
As a mod team, we support 3rd party apps, their developers, and their continued persistence to try and negotiate with Reddit Admins. As such, we believe that participating in this blackout is the right thing to do.

Letterkenny will be restricted from 12 to 14 June. There will be no posts and no comments. We will leave a stickied post explaining the situation.

We also want to have a call to action of our members: If you use any 3rd party Reddit apps or want to support fairness of 3rd party developers, please let your voice be heard by not signing on to Reddit during the blackout. The severe drop in traffic will hopefully be a wake-up call to the Reddit Admins that our community wants change.
Full disclosure: there are serious discussions currently going on around extending the blackout beyond the 14th, and what do we do if Reddit refuses to walk this decision back. These are not ideological points, these are practical matters that severely impede our ability to moderate the sub. Please comment with your thoughts on the matter.

I am not from Missouri (out-of-state license) and I am in saint Louis for an internship. I am getting a new car (2007 beater that gets me from point a-to-b). I am a little confused as to what my options are given:

1. Can I purchase this car with an out-of-state license and a Missouri tag/plate for now? My internship won't be over for a few months.
   
2. How do I get a statement of non-assessment? I am living in a friend's guest room.
   

My 4 week old starts his nights strong, then after the third wake up and feeding it all falls apart, no matter the time we do bedtime. He has very small poops in his diaper for the first two wakes/feedings/changes, then it seems his little digestive system really kicks into gear and he’s making tons of noise, generally unhappy when pooping around 5/6 am. We do the same routine and put his sleepy self back in his Snoo, but he wakes up 45 min-1 hr later this time and at this point I am so exhausted my husband usually takes over and just sits awake with him resting on his chest so I can sleep a bit more. Today when I unzipped his sleep sack I found that he had gotten wet with pee, which may have contributed to his unhappiness and needing to be held, but it seems like he can’t sleep through pooping and maybe he feels restricted from kicking legs and getting it out when he’s swaddled in Snoo? Do you have experience with infant dyschezia? I’m desperate for a way to get 3 solid sleep stretches in, for his sanity and mine!

Note: This is gonna be a very long post, so brace yourselves
As most of you know by now, X-Men '97 will be coming out on Disney Plus this Fall.
This series will be a pretty big deal since it'll mark the X-Men's very first major animated appearance in over a decade!
During the 2010s, due to the rising success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, 20th Century Fox still owning the FILM rights to the X-Men, and Ike "Fuck You" Perlmutter, Marvel basically resorted to pretending the X-Men didn't even exist, removing them from potential media they would be allowed to appear in.
Cartoons, merchandising, and perhaps one of the most egregious, video games.....
Chances are most of you are familiar with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.
And you're probably all aware that one of the biggest criticisms towards that game was the vetoing of any X-Men representation.
And not helping was the frankly idiotic responses given to this valid criticism.
Which, let's be real, the people from Capcom only really said half of that shit since they were most likely being held at gunpoint by an executive from Marvel, who in turn was being held at gunpoint by Perlmutter.
And after the game's release, people from Capcom came out to say how much the production of the game was absolute nightmare due to Marvel's bullshit.
And with that being said, the license for MvC will mostly likely never be renewed since after all the bullshit Marvel pulled on them, Capcom wouldn't want to work with them ever again.
But enough about that....
While it is great that the X-Men are finally returning to television after spending nearly 15 years without a major animated appearance, it is a little disappointing that it's being done through a revival of an already existing series.
I'm guessing that Marvel decided to have the X-Men's grand return to animation to be something a little familiar, so when it's time for a new X-Men cartoon that's a bit different from before, it wouldn't be too overwhelming for some.
But when that time does come, I have what I think would a cool idea for a new X-Men cartoon.
The cartoon would be titled X-Men: The Next Mutation!
Essentially the main draw of this series would be turning the characters of the Marvel Universe into powerful badasses right out of a shonen manga/anime.
And I figured the X-Men would be the perfect characters to explore that concept with.
Becuase the reason they're more powerful in this universe, apart from years of rigorous physical training, are secondary mutations.
Yeah in the universe of this series, secondary mutations are much more common among mutants, often happening early adulthood.
Tertiary mutations also exist, but they're pretty rare.
As for the X-Men themselves, the series would feature the biggest roster by far.
It would consist of Cyclops, Psyche (Jean Grey), Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Shadowcat, Lockheed, Rogue, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Angel, Thunderbird, Beast, Sunfire, Banshee, Dazzler, The Diamond Queen (Emma Frost), Gambit and Psylocke.
There are some notable changes with some of the members of the team.
-Angel will be female by the name of Wren Worthington
-Nightcrawler's last name will be changed from Wagner to Darkhölme, since in this universe, he's the biological son of Mystique and Destiny
(Bonus points for anyone who gets that reference)
-Nightcrawler and Rogue grew up together
-Sunfire and Psylocke's back-stories are much different than they were in the original comics. Sunfire, who while still Japanese, spent most of his life in San Fransokyo, being raised by the Silver Samurai, who in this universe is his uncle rather than his cousin. Sunfire was also a member of the Hand until he met the X-Men and saw the error of his ways. As for Psylocke, she was a Japanese baby raised by the Braddocks, who in this universe are a family of English adventurers. You're probably wondering why I changed their back-stories. In the case of Sunfire, I felt like his original backstory is pretty problematic, at least in my opinion. I mean, it literally had to do with the bombing of Hiroshima. And when you take into consideration that he was created back in the late 1960s, you can't help but go a bit "yeesh" about it. As for Psylocke, I'm sure most of you are familiar with the whole body-swapping mess. Yeah....that shit has been banished to the Shadow Realm. I felt like this new backstory I came with would be a perfect way to still keep the appearance that most people associate with, while still keeping her British.
-I'm still debating on this one, but either Colossus or Gambit will be gender-swapped as well. Essentially, it would be either a female Colossus and a still-male Gambit, or a still-male Colossus and a female Gambit. The reason for that I'm about to touch on next.
In terms of romantic relationships.....
-Cyclops, Jean and Wolverine will be in a polyamorous marriage
-Storm will be dating Thor
-Colossus and Shadowcat will be dating (with a much shorter age difference this time)
-Rogue and Gambit will be sort-of dating
-Iceman will be dating The Human Torch
-Nightcrawler and Angel will be dating
-Beast and Emma will be dating.
-Dazzler and Sunfire will be dating
-Banshee will have a thing for Moria MacTaggert
So yeah, if you considered that possible gender-swap between Gambit and Colossus....that would put Shadowcat and Rogue in LGBT relationships.
Though in all honesty, I'm leaning more towards keeping Gambit male and making Colossus a female.
Since I think it would be nice for Shadowcat to finally be in a relationship with another female for once.
Although I haven't seen too many people mention it, it is pretty strange how despite being canonically bisexual, Shadowcat is still being restricted to male love interests.
I've heard something that it has to do with writer bias, since a lot of them had crushes on her back in the day.
It does seem like they're now gonna change it since she does seem to have thing for Rasputin IV.
Apart from the team themselves, what about their standing in the world?
Well, this might be a bit controversial, but in this universe, the X-Men have finally achieved their original dream of a world where mutants and humans peacefully co-exist with each other.
Since in this universe, the human race are actually decently intelligent.
Along with that, they've come to see the X-Men as what they truly are....heroes, due to the various good deeds they've done over the years.
And because of the deeds of the X-Men, humans have began to change their perspective on mutants overall.
And while there are still humans who hate the mutants, they're more of a minority now.
But despite achieving their dream, the X-Men still persist as heroes....simply because they want to.
Yeah, the heroes in this universe will be actual heroes, people who go out of their way to help those in need.
But you're probably wondering, if the X-Men finally achieved their dream, what kind of conflict would they deal with now?
Well, simple.....
This series would have 4 seasons, with each one focusing on a different antagonist.
The first season will be the Return Season.
The main antagonists will be the Brotherhood of Mutant Supremacy (consisting of Mystique, Destiny, Blob, Pyro, Avalanche, Unus the Untouchable, Lorelei, Sabertooth, Mastermind, Lady Mastermind, and Toad), who had spent the last 2-3 years in the Raft.
That was until they were broken out by Bolivar Trask and General Kincaid (from X-Men Legends).
Their reason for doing so was simple.....revenge.
With the rising acceptance of mutants as whole, plus their frankly heinous actions against them and humanity, Trask and Bolivar have become societal rejects.
They've been stripped of both of their positions by the government, and are now treated like shit by everyone.
This has made the duo's hatred for the X-Men even greater than ever before.
As a result of this, they decided to break the Brotherhood out of the Raft so they could work together to take out the X-Men once and for all and conquer the world.
Although both sides do hate each other, they do form an alliance due to their shared hatred for the X-Men.
Basically the classic the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
And since the Brotherhood have also gone through secondary mutations of their own, they're even more of a challenge for the X-Men than ever before.
The season will also feature other villains like The Juggernaut, Black Tom Cassidy, The Silver Samurai, Sauron, Arcade, and the entire island of Genosha.
Luckily, the X-Men will have plenty of allies to back them up.
These include Charles Xavier, obviously.
Duncan Mathews, who in this universe, is a pretty nice guy and a longtime ally of the X-Men, essentially being like their April O'Neil.
Moira MacTaggert, who's still a human.
Ka-Zar, Shanna the She-Devil, and Zabu.
Nick Fury, who has formed a partnership with the X-Men to promote human-mutant relations.
James Produstar and Theresa Cassidy, Thunderbird's little brother and Banshee's daughter, who are both little kids.
The Avengers and The Fantastic Four, who are actually close allies with the X-Men rather than rivals who try to rip each other's throats whenever they cross paths.
Plus, they have members of their respective teams dating each other.
And I know some of you are gonna ask this, but Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Franklin Richards will all still be mutants.
X-Factor (which consists of Forge, Havok, Polaris, Strong Guy, Chat, Longshot, and Multiple Man).
A bit more reluctantly, Deadpool.
And a new ally in the form of Nathaniel Essex, a world famous geneticist who has partnered up with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Xavier to study and learn more about the X-Men and the other superheroes of New York.
But undoubtedly the big bad of this season would be the one and only, Magneto!
There would be a storyline throughout this season involving the Brotherhood searching for the whereabouts of their leader, along with the pieces of his iconic helmet.
And given how powerful Magneto already is in the comics, imagine what he would be like this in new universe where everyone is a badass right out of Shonen Jump!
Also, I wanted to add this real quick, but Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be Magneto's grandchildren rather than his children.
I mean, the guy is over 90 years old....
Season 2 would be the Clone Season.
I'm pretty sure you all knew this already, but Dr. Essex would essentially be the main villain of this season, taking on his iconic identity as Mister Sinister.
Sinister's master plan is to create the perfect army of hybrids, made from the DNA of the X-Men and the other superheroes, which is the reason why he worked with them last season.
And he plans to use this army to conquer the world.
So this season will basically be like The Clone Saga, except not shit.
Apart from Sinister, this season would introduce to Marauders and various notable clones of the X-Men, like Madelyn Pryor, Archangel, and even X-23.
Season 3 will be the Apocalypse Season.
As you would expect, the main villain of this season will be none other than Apocalypse, with Mister Sinister serving as the secondary villain.
Apocalypse's plan is to use his Four Horsemen to conquer the world, rid of those he sees weak, and enslave those he deems strong.
This season will not only see the X-Men working with all of their allies, but also their enemies, in order to defeat Apocalypse.
This season would also see a redemption arc for Magneto and the Brotherhood, with them finally going from villains to heroes.
The season would also introduce us to X-Force, a team of time-traveling mutants consisting of Cable, Domino, Shatterstar, Rictor, Boom Boom, Theresa and James (now going by their Siryn and Warpath aliases), Rachel Summers, and the future children of the other X-Men.
Also, since Cyclops won't be hooking up with Madelyne, Cable will be the son of him, Jean and Wolverine, with Rachel being his biological younger sister.
I should mention this that this series would have a lot of influence from shonen manga/anime, with one of the biggest being Dragon Ball Z.
And this season would have one of the strongest influences from DBZ.
Just like Trunks, X-Force will be portrayed as a band of heroes from a dystopian future (that being the Age of Apocalypse), who traveled back in time to stop the source of said future.
The fourth and final season will be the Multiverse/Space Season
This season will be heavy emphasis on the extraterrestrial side of the X-Men.
This season will see the introduction of The Broods, The Flock, The Sh'iar, The Starjammers, Mojo, and Vulcan.
This season will also but a heavy emphasis on the Multiverse.
As this universe's X-Men will meet various iterations of themselves from across the ages.
From the 616, to the Ultimate, to the animated, to the movies.
The main MVP would have to be none other than Jean herself.
A huge plotline for this season is that would become the new host of the Phoenix Force, and is now learning how to use it, with the help of 616 iteration, who has learned to master the entity.
And this Jean really needs to if she's gonna be able to take on the season's main villain...herself.
Well technically it's a variant of her who also became the host of the Phoenix, but was overwhelmed by its power and became evil.
And thus, Dark Phoenix was born...
Many of the multiversal variants of the X-Men and the Marvel characters already knew of Dark Phoenix before the events of the series.....and I'll be honest, they're all scared shitless of her.
And why won't they?
She's an all-powerful being with enough strength to destroy entire planets!
And although they've tried their best to avoid her, they can't anymore when she forces the entire multiverse to fight in a tournament that will decide their fate, and against villainous variants of themselves, all of whom are powerful in their own right.
From Maestro, to The Maker.
And final event is a battle against her and the multiverse's strongest fighters.
If the heroes win, Dark Phoenix will leave the multiverse alone forever.
But if they lose, she'll basically destroy everything and everyone.
Before we wrap up, I do want to talk about the art-style and the animation.
The art-style would be done by Boris Grovez, aka ArtFrenzyBoris, who has a really cool art-style I vibe with.
Not only does it look like something right out of a comic book, but also this sense of expressiveness and a cartoony nature not typically found in most comic books or superhero cartoons.

As for the animation, it would be done by Flying Bark Studios.
The animation studio behind Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Monkie Kid, and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.
When considering that this series would be heavily inspired by shonen manga/anime, you can't tell me that this wouldn't be the best studio to possibly animated this show.

I got tired of constantly having to watch what I eat or worrying about overeating even slightly. Can't even have berries? No citrus? No any kind of spices other than salt? This restrictive diet has been slowly making me depressed and anxious, and I've had enough. Im a healthy looking individual that's been feeling like crap for the past few years.
So back on PPI's I went. 20mg in the morning, 30 mins before my first meal. Its only been a few days and already most of my symptoms are gone. No more sore throat or bad breath, no more bloating after a larger than normal meal, my anxiety has vanished overnight, my sleep has improved a ton, no more burping.
I know PPI's aren't a good long term fix for this disease, but I'd be lying if I said they aren't effective. They've improved my quality of life pretty much overnight. I'd also tried an H2 blocker but they seem to mess up my guts big time (IBS).
At this point, my plan is to stay on them until a new procedure comes along that is more fail proof than Nissen, and hopefully less invasive. The only reason why I refuse to undergo the Nissen is due to my active lifestyle. Can't lift anything heavier than 50 lbs or vomit? (not good enough for me).

Some of you have read my first post detailing the first semester of the senior Bible class in my evangelical highschool, here's the an overview of the second semester. (This gets long, but it's a good insight into how these people think and indoctrinate young members)
We didnt have time to go over every chapter of the second book we were given, so we only covered these topics:
-history of xtianity -"thinking and speaking clearly" -value of human life -sexuality -religious persecution
And every single one of these was just, morally reprehensible all around. Starting with Christianity: a history, we covered the effects that Christianity has had on human rights, woman's rights, charity, society.
It was basically a giant justification for colonialism. There was an entire part claiming that the colonization of India was a good thing because they stopped them from killing widows, ignoring absolutely everything else Christianity has done for woman's right, ignoring the rape of Africa, or how colonialism restricted a lot of women's cultural roles in places like some regions of Africa and the America's. They went on to say that in every instance of colonialism Christianity raised a woman's standard of living by giving them purpose and dignifying them through modesty. They also went on to claim that charity comes from Christianity, that they brought civilization to other cultures, ect. Also claimed that public education and psychology came from them (ignoring how messed up the 40s psych wards they were claiming were), they even claimed the concept of music. They claimed that the story of the resurrection and their cultural belief in it elevated modern music to the point its at now that other cultures couldn't reach. It was really disgusting, my country was colonized, my parents and all my friends parents lived through a war and were dislocated, only for me to have to hear these bastards praise themselves for saving us from our own backwards cultures. It was so racist, talking about how other cultures needed them to save and civilized them.
Oh and also how they never forced conversion. Obviously.
I do remember that one historical xtianity thing they didn't like was the social gospel though, which basically posited that rich people should help poor people, that's a massive simplification but they disliked that it implied that the way to heaven was being a good person instead of through faith, which is technically blasphemy in most xtian denominations.
The thinking and speaking clearly portion was hilarious honestly. I remember for a week we solely covered logical fallacies but. The examples they gave for logical fallacies were fucking hilarious.
This was their example for the logical fallacy of bandwagoning: "You notice tons of scientists all believing in climate change just because other scientists believe in it, following a bandwagon. Don't fall for it just because everyone believes in it"
About 50% of the examples were like that, and the other 50% were the basic non political examples. I remember this one example they used made me really angry, it was like, appealing to empathy, and the example the gave was a gay person talking about how hard it is to deal with discrimination/ how painful conversion therapy is/ how miserable homophobic parents make them. And they went on about how it was a baseless appeal to empathy, not a logical argument, and that they shouldn't fall for it, because we're still dangerous [insert slur of the day]. Like yeah, teach that empathy is a bad thing to base actions on, real mask off moment.
We had a project where we had to come up with an example with all 40ish types of fallacies they introduced, I only took examples from the class itself. I got 5 points deducted but it was worth it.
The next part of the thinking and speaking clearly was exclusively about how to argue, which I thought yall might be interested in. It was tactics that a lot of people know, stay unemotional, don't be condescending even if you hate the person you're talking to, even if you're making the other person react stay cool and ask "where did you get that belief", "why do you believe that", make yourself look like you're the even headed one. They emphasized the Columbo tactic a lot. The real scary part is that. This was the most component part of the class. They were all good argument tactics. If you guys are interested I recommend looking up the Columbo tactic, it was less focused on being right and more focused on "winning hearts"
(Sidenote: it wasn't in the senior Bible class, but in my freshaman Bible class we had a lesson on pretending to tolerate trans ppl to convert and change their minds in the long run, which was, yikes, gave me trust issues around xtians)
The value of human life was, yk, abortion. It was longgg drawn out and I was so fucking angry the entire time. But it was mostly the same shit we've all heard before: human life is precious, here's a long list of why murder is wrong... which yeah but were talking about abortion not murder, which is denying a fetus access to using my body. It's like taking someone off life support except the life support is yourself.
They had 2 interesting twists though, both in response to the argument I just gave. 1. Abortion is murder bc the fetus has to be beheaded burned with chemicals and bloodied up. Which um. They aren't even big enough to do that in most abortions (https://myanetwork.org/the-issue-of-tissue/) since 90% happen in the 1st trimester and isn't even true for late term abortions, since they're usually preformed by injecting something in the heart and 3. If it does happen late stage it'd be bc of the procedure to remove it intact is banned and illegal. The point about fetuses being murdered via chemical burns was used to say, "it is murder, not taking off life support"
The second interesting twist was this: they presented the life support via the well known "what if you woke up kidnapped and medically connected to a world famous musician and it would kill him if you took away your life support, is that murder, are you morally obligated to stay there?" Which yeah its an imperfect metaphor because it's a metaphor. And they said if that was true then they'd be wrong BUT abortion is murder bc see the above false claim and because the metaphor isn't what is actually happening. Woman have an obligation to their children that you don't to a random musician, blah blah motherly instinct. And secondly that it wasnt like the musician example because the woman caused the fetus to be attached to her by having sex and should deal with the consequences. Which wow. The idea that women are inherently beholden to a clump of cells of womanly responsibilities. And the idea that a child should be punishment for having sex.
I actually came up with an alternate metaphor that addressed both of those later 'arguments': what if you had asymptomatic covid and went to a family reunion with your young niece, no mask at the height of the pandemic. She got covid and it was somehow traced back to you. The only way for her to live is if you stay as her life support for 9 full months. It will wreak havoc on your body and your career from the months long break, you will also be fully financially responsible for the 200k hospital bill. Are you morally obligated to do that? Is it murder? What if you wore a mask? What if you knew and wore a mask? No matter what, you owe your neice more in this situation than a woman owes a fetus because of her parents emotional involvement, if you want to play the maternal instinct amd owing family card. So are you obligated? No. The argument wasn't taken well and I couldn't get into a fight over it bc my mom would find out and she's pro life so i had to back down.
The sexuality section was just homophobia! Yay! It also talked about how contraception was bad and porn destroyed lives. Here's some highlights: contraception increased the number of wedlock babies so therefore it is bad and we shouldn't use it, sex is for making babies and marriage. Married Christian women have the best sex (no sources cited) (my gf had a good night that night) because married Christian woman have stability and financial security so therefore the sex must be good. Because??. Because their relationship is stable and their husband is there the morning after. So it must be good. Don't look at marital rape statistics. Woman are not capable of hugging a man without forming an emotional connection due to their hormones...
Actually I'm gonna expand on that one. I almost murdered someone. Made me see red. The argument was that woman have the chemical oxytocin, unlike men (no sources found) and that chemical forms a permanent bond for woman when physical contact is made. Which is why woman love their children (???) And that all woman will eventually love their children no matter how bad the pregnancy, since that hormone will kick in when she holds the baby, and obviously woman are slaves to hormones. And that's also why having premarital sex as a woman is bad, because even a simple hug from a man activates that hormone and permanently attaches you to that man. So if you have casual sex you'll always be missing all those connections that your body will long for, causing feelings of emptiness and great psychological distress, and she'll never be happy with relationships bc of all those missing connections. OH AND ALSO. Oxytocin in a woman is only released during sex and birth. And hugs apparently, or is the logic that woman's bodies are so ready for men that they register hugs as sexual? I am still angry about that.
More highlights are: porn makes men sexist. It's impossible to respect women after watching porn. Also it's cheating. We didnt spend much time here because we spent two weeks on homosexuality. Which, pretty standard, gay men are pedophiles, all societies have fallen exactly 3 generations after accepting homosexuality. Yes that's an exact line from the book. Ignore the Romans ig. Since transness was a hot topic we kind of ignored the book to talk about transness and um. I'm queer so I just skipped class. But I ran out of classes I could skip and still graduate so here's the one lesson I didn't miss: words like transgender, genderqueer, they/them, genderfluid, are just like new speak in 1984. The words made to describe some people's unique experiences that only 1% of the population has experienced is just like how in 1984 certain words were outlawed and forgotten so less people could describe their experience and the human condition made less diverse since that diversity doesn't have words. Words introduced specifically so people can talk about their unique experiences and expand the human condition with unique words that only a few people relate to is just like how in 1984 they were all forced to use the same handful of words to describe their lives and make the human experience smaller. Also divorce is just as traumatic for a child as surviving the holocaust. That is a real line from the book. Having your parents divorce is equally traumatic. To surviving gas chambers. Also if your husband is [redacted] and you're unhappy you're obligated to stay for the child. If you leave you're making your child go through something equal. To the holocaust. The final chapter, religious persecution, I also mightve slept through some classes. Look i was a high school senior. The gist was basically there's a holy war. Culture war is very serious and not a political distraction at all. Responsibility as Christians to shape the culture around you. It's for the betterment of society. Society needs to be led by Christians. Run for office. Vote. Oh and also let's talk about how other countries persecute xtians. Which they do. Some. We had a project where we choose a country that persecuted xtians and some do, I chose ones that actually do. Someone chose like Portugal or Venezuela. I don't remember which one. It was a hispanic country and um. How do i say this. I am from a hispanic country. Saying a hispanic county persecuted xtians is absolutely insane. Her presentation was mostly on gang violence. Also another option to pick was Mexico. Mexico. Deeply catholic Mexico. It's worth mentioning that they hated Catholics and racism is definitely a part of it.
Alright that concluded the second semester honestly. I missed a lot from the first semester in my 1st post since I made it at 2am. I missed a whole section where we talked of each worldviews view on ethics and philosophy and stuff. Also sorry this is so long, I maybe should've split it into 2 posts but I've already typed it all out so. Basically this entire class was. More than hell to sit through.
