If you’re not careful and you noclip out of reality in the wrong areas, you’ll end up in the backrooms, where it’s nothing but the stink of old moist carpet, the madness of mono-yellow, the endless background noise of fluorescent lights at maximum hum-buzz, and approximately six hundred million square miles of randomly segmented empty rooms to be trapped in. God save you if you hear something wandering around nearby, because it sure as hell has heard you.

2023.06.09 17:14 bikingfencer Galatians, chapter 5 - vices and virtues
Galatians Chapter Five (
https://esv.literalword.com/?q=Galatians+5)
-1. The Anointed frees [שחרר,
SheeHRayR] us
unto freedom [חרות,
HayROoTh], therefore stand, and do not submit [תכנעו,
TheeKhahN`Oo] again [שוב,
ShOoB] to yoke [לעל,
Le'oL] the slavery.
“The expression for freedom [επ ελευθερια - ep eleutheria] (in slightly different Greek form) appears in the certificates of sacral manumission which were given to slaves who purchased their freedom. The slave would deposit the money in the temple of his god for the priest to transfer to his master “for freedom.” He then became the slave of his god, free from his human master.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 545-546)
“Among the Jews, the Messiah’s reign was to be a reign of liberty, and hence the Targum [ancient Jewish commentary] on Lamen. [Lamentations] ii. 22. says, “Liberty shall be publicly proclaimed to the people of the house of Israel, על יד משיחא âl yad Mashicha, by the hand of the Messiah, such as was granted to them by Moses and Aaron, at the time of the Passover.” (Clarke, 1831, vol. II p. 393)
...
-5. And we, in spirit upon foundation [of]
belief, waiting [מיחלים,
MeYahHahLeeYM] to hope [for] fruit, the our righteousness [δικαιοσυνης -
dikaiosunes, justification, righteousness].
“The language is so compact that Paul’s meaning has to be inferred from 3:14; 5:22-23; and Rom. [Romans] 8:23-26.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 548-549)
“The full measure of human righteousness is still a thing of the eschatological future (cf. [compare with] Rom 5:19).” (Joseph A. Fitzmyer, 1990, TNJBC p. 789)
“That they could not have the Holy Spirit, without faith, was a doctrine also of the Jews; hence it is said, Mechilta, fol. [folio] 52. ‘That faith was of great consequence, with which the Israelites believed in Him, who, with one word, created the universe; and because the Israelites believed in God, the Holy Spirit dwelt in them; so that being filled with God, they sung praises to him.’” (Clarke, 1831, vol. II pp. 393-394)
-6. That yes, in Anointed YayShOo'ah ["Savior", Jesus] there is no thought [חשיבות,
HahSheeYBOoTh], not to circumcision [למילה,
LahMeeYLaH] and not to foreskin [לערלה,
Lah`ahRLaH], rather to belief, the laborer in way [of] love.
“No passage in Paul’s letters is of greater importance for integral understanding of his religion and the relation of his faith to his ethics. The mutuality of faith, hope, and love – a theme repeated with many variations – runs through everything he has written and forms the substance of his theology. … Paul’s religion is distorted whenever his ethics and his ‘good works’ are made to appear as an incidental by-product of his faith rather than as one of its essential ingredients.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 550-551)
“This humble, holy, operative, obedient LOVE, is the grand touchstone of all human creeds, and confessions of faith. Faith, without this, has neither soul nor operation: in the language of the apostle James, it is dead, and can perform no function of the spiritual life, no more than a dead man can perform the duties of animal or civil life.” (Clarke, 1831, vol. II p. 394)
...
-12. Would that [מי יתן,
MeeY YeeThayN] and be cut [ויכרתו,
VeYeeKahRThOo] the misleaders [המתעים,
HahMahTh`eeYM] [of] you!
“‘I wish that those who are upsetting you would even emasculate themselves!’ This is what Paul said and meant. … for a similar outburst see Phil. [Philippians] 3:2-3, where the advocates of circumcision are ‘dogs,’ and by a play on words – περιτομη [peritome’], κατατομην [katatmen] - ‘circumcision’ becomes ‘mutilation.’ Paul may have been thinking of the mad spectacle of the Cybele-Attis cult, whose priests in frenzied devotion used to emasculate themselves as a sacrifice to their deity. … The shock of Paul’s statement to the Judaizers can be measured in the light of the prohibition in Deut. [Deuteronomy] 23:1. To a devout Jew his blunt language would be as sacrilegious as a Christian would find the wish of a disbeliever in sacraments that all advocates of baptism would drown themselves. Never happy after making such denunciations (II Cor. [Corinthians]1:23-2:11; Phil. 3:18-19), Paul quickly changes his tone…” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 554-555)
-13. My brethren, to
freedom you have been called,
only that not be, the freedom, means [אמצעי,
’ehMTsah`eeY] in hands of the flesh,
rather that minister, [each] man [את,
’ehTh (indicator of direct object; no English equivalent)] his neighbor in love.
“To be freed from the ceremonial law, is the Gospel liberty; to pretend freedom from the moral law, is antinomianism.” (Clarke, 1831, vol. II p. 395)
-14. See,
all the Instruction included [כלולה,
KLOoLaH] in saying [במאמר,
BeMah’ahMahR] one – “
and love to your neighbor like you.”
“The quotation is from Lev. [Leviticus] 19:18; cf. Rom. 13:8-10 [and Matt. [Matthew] 7:11 (Joseph A. Fitzmyer, 1990, TNJBC p. 789)]. The tense of the verb ‘fulfilled’ is perfect; thus Paul says that the whole law is fulfilled, in the sense of ‘has been fulfilled’ whenever one man loves another as himself…. Paul the Christian loved his neighbor not because a commandment disobeyed would bring punishment, or fulfilled would merit reward, but because it was his new nature to do to.
But who was Paul’s neighbor? He was, first of all, ‘the one who was near,’ the fellow member of the society of Christ who needed help to bear life’s burdens (6:2). Then, with continuously lengthening radius, Paul drew a series of concentric circles to embrace all men (6:10; I Thess. [Thessalonians] 5:15; I Cor. 9:22). Even his enemies were included, for Christ received sinners, and personal vengeance was no fruit of the Spirit (6:1; Rom. 12:20; 15:1-3). … He bore the burden of his neighbor’s sins, and although he sometimes had to threaten them, he was never without hope for their repentance (I Cor. 4; II Cor. 12:19-13:10; II Thess. 3:14-15). He could hurl anathemas, and his friends did not always find him easy to get on with … but the love of Christ would never permit him to contract the circle of his neighbors (Rom. 9:1-3; 10:1; II Cor. 7:5-16; 1:23-2:11). (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X p. 557)

…………………………………………
Fruit of the Spirit and usurpations of [ומעללי, OoMah`ahLahLaY] the flesh
[verses 16 to end of chapter]
-16. Say I to you, walk in way the spirit and do not fill [את,
’ehTh] desires [תאוות,
Thah`ahVOTh] [of] the flesh,
-17. for the flesh desires [מתאוה,
MeeTh’ahVeH] to what that is in opposition [שבנגוד,
ShehBeNeeGOoD] to spirit, and the spirit is opposed [מתנגדת,
MeeThNeGehDehTh] to the flesh. [The] two [of] them oppose to this to this, and to that [ולכן,
OoLeKhayN] you are not able to do [את,
’ehTh] what that is in your want.
“This is Paul’s way of stating the Jewish doctrine of the ‘two impulses’ which are at war within the heart of man. The rabbis declared that God created Adam with two inclinations, one good, the other evil, and required him to choose which to obey. He was free to follow his good impulse, but he chose the evil, and so did all his descendants. Consequently every man became the Adam of his own soul. Some maintained that the evil impulse awakened at the age of nine, others at twelve. Study with practice of the Torah was the sovereign remedy to wear it away …” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 561)
…
-19. Deeds of the flesh are revealed [גלויים,
GLOoYeeYM], and these are they:
adultery [נאוף,
Nee’OoPh] and
fornication, impurity [טמאה,
TooM’aH], licentiousness [זמה,
ZeeMaH], 20. slavery of idols,
magic [כשוף
KeeShOoPh in my Hebrew New Testament
i ; the Greek here is “φαρμακεια
pharmakeia - the use of drugs of any kind, whether wholesome or poisonous...” (Stamm, 1953,
TIB vol. X p. 562] hatred, contention [מדון,
MahDON], stinginess [צרות עין,
TsahROoTh 'ahYeeN, “squint eyed”, Ζηλος
Zelos jealousy], anger [כעס,
Kah'ahÇ],
strife [מריבה,
MeReeYBaH], divisions [מחלקות,
MahHLahQOTh], factions [כתות,
KeeThOTh], 21. envy, drunkenness, profligacy [הוללות,
HOLeLOoTh], and as similar.
Say I to what that I already said: doers of deeds like these will not inherit [את,
’ehTh] kingdom of the Gods.
“Πορνεια [Porneia] ... fornication ... means ‘prostitution’, but includes sexual vice and unfaithfulness to the marriage vow. The task of the church in creating a conscience on this matter was made doubly difficult by the practice of prostitution in the name of religion. Long before Paul, the prophets had denounced the fertility cults and made prostitution a synonym for idolatry.
Φαρμακεια [pharmakeia] ... Since witches and sorcerers used drugs, the word came to designate witchcraft, enchantment, sorcery, and magic. The law of Moses prescribed the death penalty for it, and the prophets denounced the Egyptians, Babylonians and Canaanites for practicing it; but this did not prevent the Jews from producing some famous practitioners (Acts 13:6-12; 19:1-20). Next to state-worship, magic was the most dangerous competitor of true religion... claiming to specialize in the impossible, it prostituted faith to superstition, and divorced religion from ethics. ... In Paul’s spiritual arithmetic, faith plus miracles minus love amounted exactly to zero....
Ερις [Eris] is ... strife ... The spirit of Eris is perfectly described in the words of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland – ‘ambition, distraction, uglification, and derision.’
The fact that he expected the near return of Christ to end this present age must not be permitted to obscure the equally important fact that he regarded his own life and witness for Christ as an essential element in hastening that event.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 561-565)
-22. In opposition to [לעמת,
Le`ooMahTh] this, fruit of spirit:
he is love, happiness, peace,
patience, [ארך רוח,
’oRehKh Roo-ahH, “length [of] spirit”] generosity, good heart, faithfulness, 23.
modesty [עננה,
`ahNahNaH],
restraint [רסון,
ReeÇOoN] [of]
self– upon such [מדות,
MeeDOTh] as these there is no instruction further [חלה,
HahLaH,
sic ["so in cite"] for חלאה,
HahL’aH!].
“Since love is a personal relation it is not a matter of law, and cannot be commanded; and since it is God’s own love growing as his ‘fruit’ in the hearts of men, no one can claim it as a merit for self-salvation. ...
... in every age ... men have found it hard to see how God could have anything in common with humanity, and Christians have been tempted to make a distinction in kind between God’s love and man’s love. Paul’s authority has been claimed for this dualistic view. Αγαπη [agape’] is set against ερος [eros]. God’s love is said to be αγαπη reaching down to save man by his grace, and ερος man’s self-love aspiring upward to save himself. Paul’s αγαπη is associated with justification by faith, the Greek ερος with salvation by works.... Jerusalem and the Christian faith are made to oppose Athens and human reason, and the conclusion is drawn from the history of Christianity that ερος, man’s self love, has always been a source of corruption of αγαπη, love inspired by God’s grace.
This interpretation of Christian love is intended as a defense of the doctrine of justification by faith and as a means of securing scriptural support for a dualistic philosophy which aims to protect the transcendence of God against humanism. But to draw such sweeping conclusions from a word study of two Greek nouns, without adequate consideration of other related Greek words and ideas, is to oversimplify. The LXX [The Septuagint, the ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible] is full of evidence that this distinction between αγαπη and ερος cannot be maintained on the basis of lexicography. The Greek O.T. [Old Testament] uses both the noun αγαπη and the verb αγαπαω [agapao] to express not only God’s love for men, but man’s love for God and for his fellow man. Although there is no certain evidence that the noun αγαπη was used by nonbiblical writers prior to Christianity, the argument from silence may be invalidated by future discoveries, and it would be precarious to conclude that αγαπη was a specifically Christian word.
One-sided emphasis on God’s love as ‘unmotivated’ by anything in his creatures tempts men to regard him in the light of an egotistical philanthropist who expects gratitude and praise but neither needs nor desires the mutuality that is inherent in the very nature of love... Without a faith that dares humbly to believe that God needs man’s love ... the Christian’s conception of his high calling to be a kingdom builder is liable to reduce itself to blind obedience to commands given arbitrarily for man’s good while awaiting God’s eschatological fiat. Such a misconception is bound to give aid and comfort to the inclination of human nature – ‘the flesh’ – to divorce religion from ethics.
Grave moral consequences result from such a view of Christian love. It is associated with a doctrine of predestination that makes God’s choice of the objects of his salvation utterly arbitrary.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 565-566)
“The peace which was the fruit of the Spirit ... could be trusted to keep men's hearts and minds (Phil. 4:7), so that they need have not anxiety about anything. This explains the sublime recklessness of the Christian peacemakers. Being colaborers with God (Rom. 8:28), they were aggressors for peace. They aimed to live at peace with all men (Rom. 12:18), but fear of making enemies did not turn them from their task of producing soundness, wholeness, and harmony in a world of chaos. Their reasonable service was to ... substitute the righteousness and peace and joy of his [God's] kingdom (Rom. 14:17) for the low aims of 'the flesh,' thereby creating the conditions for peace. Their ideal was to live so that quarrels could never get started.
Christian peace was therefore neither the calm of inactivity nor the mere passive enjoyment of freedom from strife. It was not the imperturbability of the Epicurean, or the apathy of the Stoic, or the contemplation of the mystic. The man who possessed it was not exempt from storm and shipwreck, but by faith he knew that he would arrive in port (Acts 27:21-25), and that all was well for him and his fellow men of faith ... And so, where all else was panic, he played the man.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 567)
“... just as God’s patience was not to be presumed upon, so the Christian’s patience was not a spiritless good nature that would put up with things which it could not escape, or would not prevent. It was patience with a purpose, as in Paul’s pleas to Philemon, which contrasts so sharply with the Stoic motive for self control... Those who bore this fruit ‘turned the world upside down’ (Acts 17:6), and the enemy did not know how to deal with such unheard of patience and persistence.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 568)
“Negatively defined, gentleness is everything that the ‘insolent, haughty, boastful’ men of Rom. 1:30 are not. It is the opposite of υβρις [hubris], the worst of sins in the eyes of the Greeks – deliberate, arrogant defiance of the gods by overstepping the limits set for human beings. In the O.T. such men are called ‘sons of Belial,’ the turbulent, highhanded wicked, who rage against God, kill, rob and enslave the righteous ‘meek’ and take possession of the earth for themselves. The psalms are full of moans and complaints against this rich and powerful majority, who used religion as a means of gain and kept their consciences in flexible subservience to the exigencies of power.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 569)
“’Εγκρατεια [Egkrateia] is temperance (KJV [King James Version]), self-control (RSV [Revised Standard Version]) ....
The Stoics had helped to prepare the soil out of which this fruit of the Spirit was to grow. They insisted that the sovereign reason could and should control the passions. They believed in a law of nature to which they must conform, and they endeavored to maintain their inner freedom under all circumstances. But their motive was very different from Paul’s, the one being devoted to the glory of the God of grace, the other to the preservation of the sovereign self-will. When the Stoic collided with things beyond his control, his inner independence turned into apathy, practicing the motto ‘When we can’t do what we want, we want to do what we can.’ He took orders from his commander in chief, an impersonal God who had the power of life or death; but he did it in such a way as to make it clear to God and men that he, the Stoic, was after all the captain of his soul. He controlled his anger because he found it a nuisance to be under the power of any passion and in his sight meekness was contemptible weakness...
Paul exalted humility: ‘It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me’ (2:20). ... His self-discipline was the result of his spiritual experiences, rather than an undertaking to induce them; and his self-control was sane compared with the ascetic excesses of later Christian groups such as the ‘Encratites,’ who forbade marriage and followed fantastic dietary rules.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X pp. 569-570)
“Unrepentant sinners have no appetite for the fruit of the Spirit, and when its production and distribution require changes in the political and economic status quo, men ... pass laws against it ... Especially in time of war these traits of Christian character have been forbidden fruit, though given for the healing of the nations. Occasionally the world, exhausted with fighting, and sick of its cynical Epicureanism, has professed a desire for the fruits of the Spirit, but on its own terms without the cross required to produce them.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB X p. 570)
... 26. Do not, please [נא, Nah’] be panters of [שואפי,
ShO’ahPhaY] honor vain [שוא,
ShahVe’], the provokers [המתגרים,
HahMeeThGahReeYM] and enviers [ומקנאים,
OoMQahN’eeYM] a man in his neighbor.
“The right stood in terror of the iconoclasm of the left, and the radicals labeled all other men reactionaries ... Both sides professed to love liberty and defend it, but neither was willing to grant it to the other.” (Stamm, 1953, TIB vol. X p. 572) END NOTE

2023.06.09 17:14 Giraldus117 r/GalacticOutlaws will be joining the blackout from June 12-14 in protest against Reddit's API changes which will kill 3rd party apps
Greetings Leej's, Article 19 is in effect for Reddit as The House Of Reason (Reddit) is choosing to be greedy and wants to trigger nuke the benefits we currently enjoy.
On this day, we would like to discuss an urgent matter that affects both the moderators and users of this sub and the site as a whole.
As you may be aware, the recent announcement made by Reddit regarding their APIs have raised significant concerns within the Reddit community.
Full Story TL;DR: Starting on 1st of July, Reddit has unilaterally decided to impose exorbitant charges on third-party app developers(Relay, Reddit is Fun, Apollo, Baconreader, Narwhal etc.) for utilizing their API. This decision has far-reaching consequences that not only hinder app developers but also affect the experience of moderators and users alike. The poor accessibility of Reddit's official app has made it difficult for us to fulfill our responsibilities as moderators efficiently, and it has also left many users dissatisfied with their browsing experience.
In response to this situation, the moderators of
galacticoutlaws have answered the call and joined an alliance of other subreddit communities and their respective mod teams in a coordinated blackout, starting on the 12th of June. The blackout will last for 48 hours.
During this blackout period, the subreddit will be set to private and thus be unaccessible to our users. We understand that this may cause some inconvenience to our users and for that, we apologise, but this short term, temporary inconvenience is in response to long term, far reaching changes that are being made by Reddit.
In the meantime, we encourage you to voice your own concern about the API changes to Reddit.
There are a few ways you can express your concerns:
• [Email](mailto:
[email protected]) Reddit or create a support ticket to communicate your opposition to their proposed modifications.
• Share your thoughts on other social media platforms, spreading awareness about the issue.
• Show your support by participating in the Reddit boycott for 48 hours, starting on June 12th.
Let this be the hour, where we go dark together!
All else fails if no changes occur. Join the
Official GE Discord Forget Nothing Leej's.

2023.06.09 17:14 ElasticMoo How do you pay for cabs?
Just saw the post about Uber vs Cabs and the consensus has been mostly cab in The Loop and other touristy areas. Does everyone just carry lots of cash with them? I tried taking multiple standard cabs when I first moved here a couple of years ago and either they only took cash, or they’d claim AFTER the trip that the credit card machine was no longer working. I don’t like carrying much cash with me at all, so I’m curious what other experiences are or how people handle this. We got our car and I mostly take public transit otherwise, but I’ve gone with Lyft since those two experiences because it was terrifying being in a car by myself in the dark with a driver demanding I find cash payment for him that I didn’t have.

2023.06.09 17:13 AngelicWhimsy Jareth, Vampires and Persephone!
I'm looking for other Persophone archetype women, or the male equivalent/counterpart. People aged around 22-44...but if you match every beat I feel age is just a rough guide to generational references, maturity and interests. (I don't want to have to explain early Simpsons references for example.)
I'm bohemian, witchy (not actively practicing but I do read Tarot and have interest in Pagan, Polytheism and spiritualities) ex Goth who became obsessed with Kawaii culture. I love all things cute, playful, fairy, folktales, 80s-90s nostalgia, even psychedelic/progression rock from the 60s or 70s style interests me. My main form of entertainment is music. I don't really watch TV, but miss having a show I loved enough to binge watch.
My trauma made it hard for me to enjoy my past love of horror and things that are dark. This left me in a sad place as after many years of celebrating my inner child (I'm almost a little in so many ways) the mature, wild and shadow self had no place to grow up or express herself. I'd love another woman on the same journey who wants to share her latest Vampire obsessions or things of that nature. Have fun and also deeper conversation.
Men are welcome. I'd love a close male friend. Not looking for someone in my face, by single would be preferable so there's less stress about emotional intimacy. I just want to be myself.

2023.06.09 17:12 allycat99_ Help! What to wear to summer cocktail wedding?
Hi everyone! So I need help. I ordered a dress for an upcoming wedding online and it has not arrived yet, and I am not in a place right now to comfortably buy another dress for the wedding. The dresses that are linked below are the only options I have in my closet. Could any of these work? The theme is “summer cocktail” and it is an evening wedding. I know the one dress with the blue bottom has white as the top color but I might be able to cover that with a black top potentially. Any advice is appreciated!! I have linked the exact dress code info below as well. Thank you :)

2023.06.09 17:12 Money-Grape7905 Minecraft 1.20 and Mojang's biggest mistake no one talks about.
I always thought the reason 1.20 was small because it's Mojang trying to catch their breath from the cave and cliff fiasco. Remember, Cave and Cliffs was supposed to be one big update, with a release scheduled of next year in summer. Considering that this was riding of the success of updates like 1.13, 14, and 16, all of which came out in similar time from there anouncement, you could see why they choose summer. However, they ended up working on too much stuff. Remember, this was the update that rework the entire game generation. To make sure there was a update in the summer, they split the update into two, one for summer, the other in winter. And even they had to delay features like the deep dark and archaeology. A lot of 1.19 plan features like rework birch forest got scratch to make why for the cave and cliffs features, and people were really not happy about 1.19. I think they made 1.20 as small as it was to finalize the last of features without it ruining a plan major update like what happened with 1.19. The reason I call this the "Mistake no one talks about" is because I've seen no one talk about this as a reason why the past two updates has been so lackluster. When people talk about why these updates are so low in content, it's can be boiled down to "Mojang has grown lazy", but it's more than that. Overall, I hope this has taught Mojang to take their time with major updates instead of promising a bunch of different features to be added in a small-time frame. Considering 1.20 didn't got a conform release date until way in its development, they might be taking steps into this. Note, this is NOT me defending Mojang. They should have taken into consideration that they need more times for the cave and cliffs update for all its features, but they didn't, and now they are paying the price by having their community turn on them for it (And among other reasons like chat report and banning mods but many people already talk about those stuff so I'm not going to get into that). I also think them communicating to their community more would have help them understand there situation better, but they choose not to do that. All I hope is they don't repeat the same mistake again.

2023.06.09 17:12 HugeAli Speculations on Card Evolution
So, I'm convinced that card evolutions will be an in-game mechanic. Meaning that you can't evolve the cards themselves before the game, but they'll evolve during the match.
How will they evolve? Well, I think you'll need to use spells. For Firecracker, you need poison. Barbarians rage, skeletons graveyard. You'll need Dark Elixir either to make the evolution or to play the card after evolving. Possibly both.
If this is true, my main concern is how the card cycle will be affected. It would be crazy if the spell is removed from the cycle (2 card cycle incoming?!!) So I don't think they'll do that. But what if you get an extra card? I think this will be a good balancing gimmick. You get both the normal Firecracker and the evolved one in your deck. This way, you'll be at a disadvantage if you want to make a deck with more than one evolved card too.
So why make evolution be the merge between troop and spell? They can just make it so that spells aren't needed, right? That's true but I think this could be another way to limit the power of evolved cards. Forcing someone to use poison with Firecracker is very annoying because they don't synergies very well (because Firecracker is usually good with Hog). Same with Skeletons and Graveyard. Maybe Barbarians are the exception but I honestly don't remember a deck that runs rage with them and they usually die fast anyways so raging them is not a good idea.
So if this pattern holds, RG is going to be paired with Rocket. Fireball and Lightning are both good with it, so I don't see them using those and Rocket just makes sense imo.
I usually wouldn't post stuff like this here but I don't think I've seen much speculation around this update. It just feels like there's no excitement for it. I remember the Monk Phoenix teasers and the response to them, compare it with this update and you'll see how much the community is hesitant to be excited.
It's a shame how they fucked everything up to the point where people just want to know how bad the next update is going to be. Everyone is afraid of spending gold, afraid of using resources you'll need for evolution, afraid of getting scammed. Honestly they should just tell us what this update entails and be done with it.

2023.06.09 17:11 Sabreur The Setting Makes No Sense
First, I love the game and its overall aesthetic. Cyberpunk-ish dystopian crime drama is a video game genre I didn't realize I needed.
My complaint is that some of the dystopian elements are exaggerated to absurdist levels. I can't take the setting seriously when the president is a democratically elected soft drink company. It doesn't work as a serious plot element because it's insane, and it doesn't work as a joke because it's played too straight. (Yes, I know there was that time your favorite candidate lost because people are dumb, etc. No, that doesn't mean people will elect Coca-Cola in 2024.) Other elements are just as absurd. The cultists who dismember their victims and paint runes in blood should be terrifying, but instead we get the capitalism-worshipping "Red Gums".
As a side note, I think the opening narration gives us too much information about the world. Given the theme of the game, I think it would make much more sense to let the player unravel the truth of the setting on their own. Don't tell us about rising sea levels directly - hide that info in a news article about an expedition to the submerged ruins of New York City. Don't tell us the nation is ruled by a mega-corporation. Let us figure it out for ourselves when we realize everyone's ID card has a corporate ID number. This is a game about solving mysteries - make the setting a mystery to be solved instead of handing it to us in a dry bit of opening text.

2023.06.09 17:11 rivecat Does anyone else, in confrontation or an argument with an NParent, get hit with a fight/flight/freeze with a theme of "Where do I even start?"
Potential TW for some:
I hit a point in deconstructing my fight or flight in fearing confrontation with my NDad. I felt as, before I hit NC, I would frequently give up much of who I was to make sure his narrow-minded appeasement was met.
I never really questioned the "why" to this. It would carry in any confrontation during adolescence (even with peers), where I'd freeze and question my own validity in any argument instantly. I simply couldn't defend myself, I wouldn't know what to say from so many racing thoughts.
It hit the realization that I was especially afraid of my fathers warped views on things. His rejection of anything that didn't abide by exactly what he wanted. It became a common theme in why I went NC for long periods of time. That initial conflict that I felt powerless to confront. I never put these things together until I really started to reflect on my behaviors, on my perpetual struggles with self-esteem, doubting my own ability, etc.
All to say, you hit that point during a confrontation/argument on anything, no matter how small. Everything just races to you in a way on "where do I even start with this?" or over analyzing every single aspect of something, just to make sure you don't question your own sanity of a situation.
It can go even further, the "where do I even start on this?" hits you with so many racing thoughts of other situations you might've been afraid to confront. Other situations that should have been reprimanded in your favor. Does anyone else frequently struggle or experience this?

2023.06.09 17:11 sylveee URGENT HELP! WFH Intermittent connectivity issues
Hi all,
Since Mon June 5th I have been experiencing random drops in my internet connection where it momentarily disconnects all devices, including ethernet and wifi, ranging anywhere from a few seconds to 10 minutes at a time. I work from home and use AWS so it's very noticeable when this happens as my whole system freezes up with a "session interrupted" message. Since yesterday I've been running a powershell command on my personal PC to show ping tests with the time and export it to a text document. The test looks great until the connection drops on my work computer, then I'll look over at my personal computer and see "Request timed out" or "General failure" for a couple lines/attempts, and then it will go back to connecting. My ISP app and my phone both show a brief disconnect as well but it's hard to catch since sometimes it only goes down for a few seconds.
I've contacted my work IT, who said my ping test and internet speeds look great, but he got kicked out of my computer twice when remoting in, so he recommended I contact my ISP. I've been in contact with Xfinity for a few days now, and only 1 agent saw any 'drop' on my connection. They've sent 3 technicians out here and have replaced the gateway modem/router combo 3 times, changed the coax cable and face plate, checked the electric room and tightened and switched my connection, and they read everything as "perfect" when checking the connection through the wall. The problem is, is that my internet works and looks great to everyone, and once I'm off the phone or the technician leaves, I get the seemingly random and short drops in connection. The router light is always still white as well indicating it should be working. I was working from home totally fine for a while now with zero issues until this past Monday. This all began when my internet went out on Monday, and on the Xfinity outage map, it said there was a "technician in the area to make sure your services are performing optimally." Since then, there's been no outages detected and no one at Xfinity can tell what the issue is. The most answer I've received from a maintenance supervisor is that they are implementing something called the "Genesis program" which is potentially affecting users. However I've gotten no clear answer on what is going on, what this program does, how long it will take, etc, and all of their solutions are seemingly just shots in the dark.
I'm losing out on work as I cannot work without a steady connection (my whole desktop is through AWS and I get phone calls routed through the internet) so I'm missing pay and could potentially lose my job if I can't get this resolved asap. I'm still in contact with the supervisor and try to call him every time it disconnects.
If anyone can understand this issue, knows what's going on, experienced this same issue, PLEASE let me know how I can address this or if I can ask/say anything to Xfinity to get this moving faster! THANK YOU!

2023.06.09 17:11 yorick5151 r/DHL will go dark on the 12th of June in protest of Reddit's API changes
Greetings everyone!
tl;dr: this subreddit will be participating in the reddit protest for 48 hours from 12th June as a result of the upcoming API changes by going private. As many of you are already aware, reddit has announced significant upcoming
changes to their API that will have a serious impact to many users. There is currently a
planned protest across hundreds of subreddits to black out on June 12th for 48 hours.
More Information:
For a great infographic explaining these changes, see here:
https://i.redd.it/zqptto18e34b1.jpg - Third Party reddit apps (such as Apollo, Reddit is Fun and others) have been told that they will be charged for accessing the API. Put simply, each request to reddit within these mobile apps will cost the developer money. No one is against paying a fair amount, but the amount quoted is comparable to what Twitter charges (which has been ridiculed by many for being extortionate). The developer of Apollo was quoted around $2 million per month for the current rate of usage and given 30 days notice of this change, which was too little notice to implement anything before incurring significant costs that they would be unlikely to recoup from users. Sadly, Apollo and RIF and others have announced they will be closing on 30/06/2023 as a result of this change. It is likely that other apps will follow. If they do remain open you will have to pay a monthly fee to cover your API usage.
- Many users with visual impairments rely on 3rd-party applications in order to more easily interface with reddit, as the official reddit mobile app does not have robust support for visually-impaired users. This means that a great deal of visually-impaired redditors will no longer be able to access the site in the assisted fashion they’re used to.
- NSFW Content is no longer going to be available in the API. This means that, even if 3rd party apps continue to survive, or even if you pay a fee to use a 3rd party app, you will not be able to access NSFW content on it. You will only be able to access it on the official reddit app. Additionally, some service bots (such as video downloaders or maybe remindme bots) will not be able to access anything NSFW. In more major cases, it may become harder for moderators of NSFW subreddits to combat serious violations such as CSAM due to certain mod tools being restricted from accessing NSFW content.
Open Letter to Reddit & Blackout
In light of what’s happening above,
an open letter has been released by the broader moderation community, and
DHL will be supporting it by going private for 48 hours starting on Monday 12th June.

2023.06.09 17:10 StockFaucet This sub along with many others will be participating in "going dark" (private) through June 12–14 in protest against Reddit's API changes
As many of you are probably aware, there have been significant changes proposed in Reddit's future update that massively impact moderation and third-party apps. The majority of users are not happy with these changes and are protesting in hopes that Reddit will hold back.
None of the changes will directly affect this sub, including the moderation of it. We are a small mod team for a small subreddit, and between automod and us, we don't rely on external apps to maintain this. What many people don't realise is the impact these changes will have for disabled users, especially blind people using screen readers. I do not agree with any changes to anything that discriminates against anyone, and I hope that my stance here is shared amongst members of this subreddit and that you agree with going dark over this period of time.
We will not be going dark indefinitely. This is largely a self-help and community subreddit, aiming to support young people with cancer. Cancer doesn't get a chance to go dark, and neither do the challenges we face from it. For this reason, I believe the help should return rather quickly, despite the drastic impact to disabled people that the new updates would bring. I do encourage users to abstain from Reddit from June 12 until better proposals are made, however I encourage using the support Reddit brings whenever needed. Your priority should be yourself and your own wellbeing.
"Going dark" involves this subreddit being private for the 48 hours of the protest. I will be implementing this manually, so there may be delays on both sides. I encourage you to avoid interacting with this subreddit over the protest period, even if it is still public. I appreciate your understanding and help.
Thank you very much for reading, and please do spread awareness of the impact the changes will have on disabled users. We have to stand together for this. I hope you are doing as best as you can be, and I will post again prior to going dark.
Best wishes, your mod team (stockfaucet)

2023.06.09 17:10 Hallormour1 Spicy LOTR commanders to watch?
The LOTR set is almost here, and a with it an insane amount of new potential commanders. However, there are some that stand above the rest, because of their power, their theme, or just because they are plain fun.
The Universes Beyond series particularly has provided us with interesting well-designed commanders, such as [[Magus Lucea Kane]], with an X-spells copy theme, [[Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph]], with a versatile pingers theme, [[Marneus Calgar]], a powerful tokens draw engine, [[the Howling Abomination]], a strong cantrips commander and [[Maarika, Brutal Gladiator]], a fun battlecruiser one, just to name a few.
Which ones do you think are the commanders to watch from the LOTR set, in terms of power, theme or fun?

2023.06.09 17:10 chiptug r/VSTi will go dark in protest of Reddit killing 3rd Party Apps
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app
permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from
Apollo to
Reddit is Fun to
Narwhal to
BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th,
many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away
permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because
we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the
goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can
you do?
- Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

2023.06.09 17:09 JohnnySpike 4 Park days, mix of DLR/DCA?
We are going to Disneyland in August (1st visit) with the 3 kids (ages 6, 3, & 1). We are planning 4 park days and 1 beach day and currently I'm targeting a 50/50 split of DLR and DCA. However, I'm wondering if there will be enough to do at DCA to warrant a second day....
Our baby won't nap in a stroller like our oldest did back in the day (ha!) so we will definitely be taking breaks and can't do an open to close approach.
We are big on the core Disney characters and Pixar but have zero interest in Marvel. We are good with Marvel themed rides for the thrills one time but I think the character stuff will be lost on us.
I've easily got 2 days planned at DLR and I'm thinking about converting my original second day of DCA to another DLR day, allowing for a more leisurely pace maybe?
If you were in a similar boat, what kind of park mix would you recommend?
