2023.06.08 18:00 larryking923 The Scariest Night of My Life

Let me set this up for a second. I was living with 2 demons at the time with a supervisor type demon coming around once a month to question one of them out loud in our bedroom. Asking general questions like how’s he eating? How’s he sleeping? When does he wake up? Stuff like that. Whenever he showed up it created an audible sound in the air. A very low octave bass tone like a soundtrack to a horror movie but this was no movie. Anyways, I’m taking a leak one night and my dog is on the bed outside of the bathroom. He growls, I hear that tone and I know the supervisor guy is here. I walk out of the bathroom to check on Cosmo, my dog and as soon as I clear the bathroom door I get jumped by six demons. I feel 3 sets of hands on my right arm and 3 sets of hands on my left arm and they’re squeezing hard enough to leave bruises. I struggle as hard as I can trying to throw them off me but it’s useless. They’re pulling down on my arms and it’s everything I can do to stay on my feet. I can’t kick because I need both feet for balance. Cosmo is at the edge of the bed barking and howling and I knew he was going to jump off and get himself killed, maybe by me. I yell,”No Cosmo!”The bass note gets louder and I’m looking around and I catch a shadow moving behind me over my left shoulder. It was the supervisor and he wasted no time. He literally stepped into my body from behind and there’s nothing I can do about it. I thought,” Oh my God, he’s trying to possess me.” I started screaming,”Get out of me in the name of God!!” He stops halfway into my body. I can feel him in me and halfway out of me from behind. I can’t describe the feeling of having him in me but it was very dark, evil and extremely powerful. I knew he would overwhelm my soul in seconds if he got in. I screamed get out of me in the name of God over and over at least 6 or 7 times getting louder each time. He finally backs out and the tone goes away. The demons let go of my arms and left. It happened so fast that I made it on instinct alone. I checked on my dog who was shaking as I was to. Told him they’re gone now and that he did a good job of trying to protect me. He was just a little guy who was a love puppy, not the fighter type but he tried. That’s a day in my life trying to survive with demons so be careful guys, it’s not a game.

2023.06.08 18:00 Buck9s An overly detailed review of our SNW on June 7th.

A (more detailed than is needed) review of our SNW morning at Universal Studios yesterday.
Never been there before but lots of theme/amusement park experience. Family of 4 (wife, 14 &12 yo daughters). We had SNW early entry.
We got to the park too early (6:30 with an 8am early entry time) due to me not seeing they changed the opening time back 1 hour. That said we were first in line at one of the entry turnstyles which meant we were also sitting at the gates for 45+ minutes. We had flown in from the East Coast the day before so 6:30am felt like 9:30 to us so at least that part was ok.
We were also the very first people into the park that day. We struck up conversation with the guy at our turnstyle and he scanned us in before the park opening countdown so when they hit 0 (they give a spiel & countdown from 10) we were good to go. The turnstiles opened at 7:30 for 8am early entry.
At the park opening we walked at a normal(ish) pace to a hold point a 100 or so yards down the road. Employees stop everyone here, allowing the crowd to clear the entry turnstiles. There were 10/15 people across and we were in the front. People were excited but it was all calm, no pushing and it didn't feel uncomfortable.
Around 7:45 the employees began to walk us back to the lower level entrance. They stayed in front of the whole crowd controlling the pace. Again the crowd was well behaved and not a lot of jockeying for position (at least not at the very front).
The employees paused at the top of the escalator for a few minutes. Then a few minutes before 8am (I think) we started making our way down the escalators. There are two escalators and we were the first people on one of them. The employees walked us to the corner at Transformers and then they peeled off.
At this point some people started to run/jog towards the pipe entrance. We just quickly walked straight to the ride. We're probably the 20th people to the ride entrance. We walked through the queue at a very normal pace to see everything and walk straight to the preshow room. Somehow we ended up the first people lined up at the right hand set of doors, everyone else was lined up in a straight line from the left hand doors (lemmings).
It was about 8:05am at this point and then they announced the ride was down. 🙄 We were in the preshow room for about 10 minutes when they got the ride working. We got off the ride after 8:20am. During the wait I also booked 10am Toadstool cafe reservations.
We purchased a power band from City Walk the night before so now we started to look for the mini games as we walked around the land. We did our first mini game around 8:30. By 8:55 we had done all 4 mini games, found two 8-bit characters and had hit a bunch of the blocks.
At this point the land was full of people but everything was fairly normal.
We wanted to ride again and decided to do single rider, my wife decided she didn't want to ride so she sat outside on a toadstool. We entered the the single rider line at 8:59 and it was basically walk on, albeit we had a couple minute wait as the employee who managed the single rider line was MIA, until we flagged someone down, in the room where you get your headband. By 9:10am the three of us were all on the ride.
At 9:04am my wife texted me "Uh, general admission opened.... I am sitting on the toadstools, mildly afraid for my life...". We walked off the ride into an entirely different world. SNW was just overwhelmed with people. It was nuts.
We did Bowser Jr, then found the upstairs with the binoculars, found the rest of the blocks for coins, hit the restroom & 1-Up and then went to Toadstool Cafe around 9:45.
Toadstool Cafe was ridiculous (not in a good way). We ordered a couple drinks, garlic knots, tomato soup & the cake and spent almost an hour there. We had to talk to employees 5 different times after ordering. Twice to inquire about our food which took 25 minutes to bring out and then three times about silverware as they didn't bring a spoon for the soup, it took another 15 minutes to get a spoon. It wasn't packed either and employees were just standing around. It was the opposite of an efficient, well run restaurant.
Before we left SNW we checked our score and we were in 2nd place for the day, at that point. That felt good to us and we left while throngs of people continued to enter the land. IMO it would not have been enjoyable to arrive at SNW after 9:30 that morning.
Overall it was great. The ride was fun, the mini games were good. I dislike that you need to spend $80.on early entry and another $40 to experience the full land but ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Toadstool Cafe was a mess. Food was ok but it was a bad customer experience and Universal could move a lot more people through the cafe if they had better operations.
If you want to experience SNW the early entry was worth every penny.

Hello, we are 6 volunteers and we're getting kicked out of our apartment in the end of june because the landlord needs it for themselves. We now have to find a new one until then, problem is that as I said we are 6 people and that we have a low budget (<1000 per month) and that we only need it until middle of August
Do you guys know where we could possibly find one? Or maybe you even know someone who owns one?

This is gonna be a long and probably confusing post, trying to get my thoughts on paper or write them out just seems impossible at this point
My ex gf(34) and I M(29) broke up just under 5 weeks ago. We were in a LDR for 8 months and I fell hard in love with her
She was married and I was single, I never pursued her because of this. Until one night we were hanging out on a discord call with friends and she messaged me telling me how attractive she thinks I am, I at first thought she was messing around and thought nothing of it until a few more messages, then she came on very hard sexually. So I decided to say fuck it and go along with it cause i always found her attractive and we vibed. (I regret it everyday, at the time I didn't care about her marriage and I know how shitty I am for it, karma has well and truly done what it needed to do to me) this continued for a couple weeks, it was highly sexual, the messages, voice notes, videos, pictures and calls. This goes on for a couple weeks and then she started to talk about how she was feeling towards me, she would call me her twin flame, say things like she's never connected with anyone the way she does me etc. I always rejected the talk of feelings because I didn't want to go there. I didn't want to catch feelings as this was purely sexual to me. Fast forward a couple more weeks and at this point we have been talking a fuck ton, about very personal things, our childhoods, our life, bonded over music, games and whatnot. She continued to push her feelings for me and I continued to keep my guard up because I didn't want to end up in this position I am now in. She told me she was going to divorce her husband, I never commented or gave advice on it because lt was not my place to do so. I did tell her to heal from her divorce, take time for herself and find herself again. She agreed and wanted to do so, so she could be fully available to me. I know at this point we had already cheated and destroyed another man but I atleast respected her for wanting to heal. She filed for divorce and we continued to talk but then the subject of love came up. I told her I will not go there until me and her are in person and know how it really feels, she agreed but then one week goes by and she tells me she is in love with me. I was falling for her and knew how I felt but wanted us to do so in person. We then became a couple... I know how fucked up it is, I really do.
She would tell me weird things like men always hitting on her, always trying to get with her, send me screenshot of guys non stop bothering her. I never asked for these things, so It made me feel weird but I never communicated it, which I know is my fault and something I've learnt. At this point we were dating and she would complain of this one guy non stop bothering her and she can't get rid of him. I told her just tell the dude you're with your bf and he will probably back off, I was not happy with her over this because it felt like she was hiding me. She apologised and we moved forward with it, then she started lying about being in other guys streams. I called her out on her lies and she would always proceed to call me jealous and insecure, the thing that hurt the most was after our blowup she would go back into that guys stream and give him money. Felt like a kick in the gut. Was there jealousy there? Yes? I sat with it for a while to understand why I was being jealous and all I could think about was the amount of times she would tell me about different men trying to get with her and the little lies she would come up with, i could never prove she was lying and i know it made me sounds crqzy and possesive but i know what i saw and i know what my gut was telling me. I'm normally not a jealous man. This would happen a few times and it hurt me but I bottled it up and it came out in the wrong way. That's on me... another example is when she mentioned this man messaging her just after her divorce, wanting to take her out etc. She would shit talk this guy to me, call him creepy and whatnot. One day we were laying down and I look over to her, I glanced at her phone and here is the same guy she is calling a creep messaging her. I was furious, instead of confronting her I gave the silent treatment, immature of me I know but I just didn't know how to deal with what my gut was telling me, I rejected it all and refused to believe that this person I'm in love with is lying to me and God knows what else.
She also told me about a time her best friends husband tried to kiss her. Again, I dont know why she told me this but hey ho. She also told me how they both cheated on one another many times. She brought me to that house, I remember the four of us chilling in their garage having a drink, laughs and a smoke. Her friend showed me photos of a lake they all go to in the summer. As we left to head back home my gf goes on to tell me how she isn't happy with her friend, she didn't like the way she leaned over me to show photos. Then went on to say how I am her friends type and all this bullshit. I told her to take that up with her friend and leave me the fuck out of this cause I did nothing nore even notice something like that. We had a massive argument over it. Wasn't the first time she got jealous over another woman. I dont mind jealousy, i think its a normal reaction to have but as long as it doesnt become unhealthy and controlling, the other ones were minor but questions were asked about certain women liking photos on my Instagram. One I went on a date with once and the other who I worked with. That's it, I was happy to say who these people were and what they meant to me. I had nothing to hide. Time goes on and she flew over to me (London) for my birthday. We argued that night too and she threatened to leave me, I told her if she ever threatens to do so again, I will leave her as I found it cruel to put that one someone. Writing this out I realise how toxic this all was. Which hits me hard because I felt like I was in love and we connected so well. I wish I communicated how I felt better, I wish I didn't do what I did and I wish I was given a fair chance to be in love. I am also at fault for this I'm fully aware.
Fast forward to few weeks ago we have a massive row again because I called her out on her lies, she called me a psycho and too possessive. I tried to explain its not that you are in another man's stream, it's the fact that you lie about it and I don't know why, she then goes on to tell me im only ever comfortable when she goes to a her other best friends house, i said yes because she seemed level headed and honest, the reason i felt uncomfortable with her going to her other friends house was because of them doing cocaine in there, which she had told me about but it was all made out to be like i was jealous because the husband tried to kiss her. It had fuck all to do with that, its drugs and she knew how i felt about drugs. But I was starting to feel like I may genuinely be highly jealous and insecure. I dont know if that's because she has made me feel that way or I am like that. I've worked hard these last 2 months to make sure that's not the case. Anyway she forgave me and we moved forward, until 3 weeks later she said this isn't working. I begged, I pleaded and I didn't understand why I was given this chance and then had it snatched from me when I was doing everything I can to work on myself
She went on to say she wants to heal because she had just gotten out of an 11 year relationship, and be by herself. I found it hard to believe considering that's what she should've done 8 months ago, like we said. Then she proceeds to tell me its because of the hurt I caused her that night a few weeks ago when we argued. I accused her of lying, which she was.i didn't verbally assault or call her names I just asked her to tell me what is going on. We were intoxicated and I just had enough of the little lies. I know that is for me to work on and put right, I will accept anything and everything I've done wrong these last 8 months. I realise I'm a shitty person and whatever came from this relationship I deserved. But I feel like I was never given a chance considering how we started. I know I never should've got with a person that was married. The trust was not there because of it but still i pushed how i felt aside and rejected my gut feelings. I tried everything to make sure we didn't do that but words and time spent together. I fell in love
Not even two weeks went by and I found out she is already dating. I knew this would happen cause she done it to her husband, who the fuck am I right? I aint special. But I'm hurting so much, my confidence is shattered and I'm lost. She said she wanted space but keeps reaching out to me, told me she will always love me and how a piece of her heart will always belong to me. Its been 5 weeks and she still reaches out, not as frequent but will send me a message saying I really do want you yo be happy, I ignored her cause seeing her face just brings me to tears, she brought up how i am ignoring her messages and i told her if she wants to talk then let me know. She then messaged me saying she hopes I'm alright, I replied saying I'm alright thanks, yourself? My heart tells me to let her go, remove her from my socials and really start to heal but I can't let go and it's killing me
I know I deserve to feel how her husband felt when she moved on straight away. I get that but I don't think I deserved the emotional abuse here, I think its emotional abuse. I'm just so confused and trying to figure it out so I can learn from this

I dont want this to come across as me shitting on her and blaming her for everything. I know I had my part in this and I fucked up in so many ways but I cant escape the feeling of being emotionally abused here

So I decided to sell my original dress as I realized it's not actually what I want. I'm not really looking for advice (though I'm open), I'm posting this for people who might be looking to sell theirs and what to look out for. I was stupid for letting it go as far as it did but I at least didn't give this asshole any money.
I posted on two places, Stillwhite.com (used bridal dress site) and FB marketplace. Scammer came from marketplace.
  1. First red flag, their account profile picture was of animals and no people. Their profile was pretty sparse as well, only about 60 friends and many didn't have real photos. Now granted not everyone has a thousand friends, I certainly don't. But having a low number and most having profile pictures of animals or cartoon characters is something to look out for.
  2. The scammer didn't message me from the marketplace posting itself. If you haven't used FB marketplace, typically you message the seller directly from their listing. This guy private messaged me on Facebook instead. I didn't catch it initially because it was late and I was about to go to bed when they messaged, but when I woke up the following morning I realized it. So just as a note, definitely wait on responding if you're tired. I also didn't realize it initially but they enabled end to end encryption on FB messages. This means that third parties (including Facebook itself supposedly) can't read the messages which makes reporting conversations difficult. That being said, I did take screenshots)
  3. They didn't offer to haggle. I priced my dress a bit high because generally people haggle off of the listed price. For something that high of price, I should have really been more suspicious that they were fine with the listed price.
  4. This one's exclusively on me, but the seller was a guy and I just assumed that they were interested in the dress for themselves or were going to get it for someone. Don't assume. Ask about why they want it.
  5. PayPal email didn't match their FB name. Again, I assumed it might be a nickname. Really this should have been the part where I dipped, but again, I'm stupid.
  6. They asked me to change my PayPal invoice to a Request. Only use Requests with friends and family, and even then only those who you absolutely trust. Invoices have a lot more protections for the seller, and it's harder for "customers" to dispute the charges. I did cancel the invoice, sent out the request, finally allowed myself to say it was too sketchy and cancelled the request too.
This guy claimed they sent the money (they didn't, PayPal showed nothing) and that because my account wasn't a "business account" that they had to pay $350 more. If you're not familiar, this is a type of scam known as an overfund, or refund scam. Wikipedia page on it herehere. Sometimes they do actually send a fake check or deposit actual money. The scheme works by putting more money in and then getting the victim to pay it back including the difference. I told the guy that it was cancelled and if any funds were sent (they weren't) they would be sent back
I should have blocked the guy at this point but he tried to argue with me that what he sent was non refundable (not how that works). That they'd had to pay the $350 fee before (not a thing), that they'd call the FBI on me (pretty sure they wouldn't care). They also tried calling me on messenger to which I didn't respond and I blocked them. They sent a couple fake "your(sic) in trouble with PayPal" emails that were from a [email protected] account which I reported to PayPal's actual phishing department. For the record, all communications from PayPal will have a PayPal.com address.
So if you're not a morning person and it's before you had your daily dose of caffeine, wait a bit on responding to potential buyers. If something feels wrong, you can back out at any time. These guys are manipulative and will try to guilt you into ignoring your gut feelings or try to make you feel like a bad person for not falling for their bullshit.
I hate that this guy has my email but I did message PayPal support so hopefully I should at least be protected in that regard. The guy asked for my home address to pick up and thankfully I gave them the address of a local coffee shop instead.
I've been kicking myself about it but I hope y'all can learn from my mistakes at least. Stay safe out there

If you only have a few minutes, here are some key considerations on valuations:
Valuations matter (of course). Venture is driven by a power law where a very small number of companies return most of the profits, but if the fund relies on the extremely rare $10B+ exits just to return the fund, you might be relying far too much on luck.
An attractive company isn’t necessarily an attractive investment. Know the difference. To achieve venture returns, you will likely have to pass on great companies because the valuation is too high.
But, get into the right companies. Without large exits, you’re unlikely to achieve venture returns. The spread between valuations for “cheap” and “expensive” companies is often much smaller than return multiples from outliers.
Have a clear strategy for valuation. And, stick to it. Routinely overpaying undermines your strategy. It’s OK to make exceptions but be thoughtful and well-reasoned in the decision.

What drives valuations?

Valuations carry information. They tell a story about the company, demand from investors, and often a reflection of the overall market.
Here’s a good breakdown from Semil Shah on what drives valuations:
“A valuation during a funding round for these types of companies are driven by: Investors’ willingness to pay (the most important driver!). Competition among investors hungry to get into a deal. Demand for companies of similar quality, scope, scale, (and) market. A host of other items like team, technology, etc.”

Mahdi @ Exponent on what drives valuations

Exponent is an early-stage fund investing in founders tackling Payments, Infrastructure, Security, App Software.
When setting valuation, some fund managers triangulate several drivers of valuations:

Are valuations efficient?

Investors are either price-setters or price-takers for every investment they make. Most commonly, lead investors “set” valuation in negotiation with the founders and follow-on investors invest at that valuation, although this isn’t always the case.
You can’t typically set valuations unless you’re putting in ~50% of the round or more, are the first check-in, or investing off-cycle (i.e. not a part of a formal round). If you’re not setting the valuation, you need to have a point of view on “Is the company worth what the market is saying they’re worth?” This leads us to the question “Is early-stage venture capital efficient?”
While perspectives differ, Abe Othman from AngelList’s Quant Fund has a unique vantage point on this topic:
“One of the most stunning things I've found about early-stage venture capital is that the market is relatively efficient. Put another way, founders convert positive signals about themselves and their companies into higher valuations that capture most (but not all) of the boon from those signals. Venture "alpha", if it exists at all, will really only be in overlooked places: That's why we found that the best schools to invest in are UW, Waterloo, and Brown, not Harvard, MIT, and Stanford. I would say, then, that within like a 2-3x band all valuations are probably "the same" – they don't in fact matter since you're probably paying for an informative signal. Beyond that, valuations are only worth it if the exit could be that much higher, and similarly, companies playing in a smaller space can be equally deserving of investment at lower valuations.” — Abe Othman (AngelList)

Do valuations matter?

Venture managers are responsible for driving venture returns. This is ultimately a function of the investor’s check size, entry valuation, and potentially follow-on investments to maintain or increase ownership. All things being equal, higher valuations cut fund returns. A fund with great companies but very minimal ownership may yield average returns or worse.
Here’s more from the Spearhead blog on how entry prices impact venture fund returns:
“Valuations for pre-traction companies between 2005-2010 were $1-5M pre-money for the first non-friends-and-family round. Funds that invested during this time period made 4x-100x returns. These valuations moved to $4-6M pre-money after 2010, with some demo days in the $8-10M range. This likely cut returns by 2/3 or more. You can’t build a portfolio of pre-traction investments at $8-10M pre-money and expect to make a venture return. On occasion, you can make an exception, but you can’t do all of your investments at this price. You will have to pass on great teams because the valuation is too high. But passing on a future iconic company at a $40M pre-money gives you the capital to take 10 shots on goal with unknown companies at $4M pre-money.”

Anamitra @ Afore on why valuations matter

Afore invests $500K or $3M checks into pre-everything founders, managing $300M in AUM across three funds.
Venture capital returns are driven by outliers, but it’s impossible to predict the exit value of an investment. Anamitra at Afore talks about the importance of focusing on what you can control: The entry valuation and why it matters.

“If you are an early-stage investor in a company that exits at a $1B or $10B, then you can argue that it doesn't matter whether your entry price was $10M or $50M because you'd do very well. How Rick Yang @ NEA approaches valuations

NEA are investing out of an >$3B VC fund across stages.
The traditional VC model, popular among funds with a concentrated strategy, is optimized around ownership targets. This approach prioritizes ownership, over valuation, although they’re related as funds are finite in size. Rick Yang talks about NEA’s ownership-driven approach to investing.

Like NEA, Homebrew takes an ownership-driven approach to investing. They view valuation as an important guardrail in evaluating an investment opportunity. Hunter also breaks down their framework for evaluating an investment opportunity when achieving their target ownership exceeds their maximum check size, and the “opportunity cost” of doing so resulting in less diversification.

“In our historically concentrated approach to seed stage investing, hitting our ownership target mattered more than valuation but valuation was an incredibly important guardrail in evaluating an opportunity, for it has great impact on the company and our portfolio management overall. We set a ‘max check size’ for our initial investments which was meant to get us, on average, 10-15% ownership and if held to, would overall guide us to an investment period that provided both time and company diversification for the fund. It also drove our reserves strategy. So in any negotiation, whether we wrote our ‘max check’ to get the target ownership was a factor of round size, company stage, and so forth. How Nikhil @ Footwork approaches valuations

Footwork is a $175M fund leading rounds at the early stage focused on Seed and Series A.
Another strategy among venture managers is back-solving the valuation from the exit value needed for an investment to return the fund, accounting for maximum check size. Nikhil at Footwork talks about their framework for using this approach. For investors who aren’t setting valuations, the same method can be used to check if the valuation fits with your fund model.
Another important consideration for investors is if the valuation sets the company up for a successful round in the future. The higher the valuation for this round, the higher the valuation hurdle it needs to clear for the next round.

“Valuations do matter to us, to a degree. We have to believe that the valuation makes sense relative to the stage of the business and that the valuation sets the company up for future fundraising success (i.e. the valuation isn't so high that it won't be cleared at the next round). The other calculus that informs our thinking on valuation is how our check size and ownership can lead to a return-the-fund investment for us. What do we have to believe for this single investment to return the fund? Our first fund is $175M, so if we're investing $5M to own 20% of a company, assume that we'll be diluted down to 12% over time, the company has to get to $1.5B or more of exit value for that investment to return the fund. Jonathan Hsu @ Tribe Capital approaches valuations

Tribe capital invests in companies in $1M-$20M of annualized revenue raising at valuations between $30-300M with round sizes in the $5M-50M range.
Venture managers want to ensure that the following round is as low risk as possible. Valuation is one part of that – the higher the entry valuation, the higher the valuation hurdle the company needs to clear for the next round to register a markup. This is an important consideration in the valuation strategy many fund managers take.

“At a high level, I think about valuation in terms of what-needs-to-happen-next round. For example, say you are at X revenue/scale and raising $Y (because you're burning $Z). Then, presumably, if you raise it, once you spend it, you will be at some new scale and will need to raise some new larger amount because of your presumably higher burn. We want to make sure that the following round is as low risk as possible and the current valuation is a part of that equation. More specifically, if you raise at a low valuation now and you exceed your expectations, it will make it much easier to raise the next round. How Eric Bahn @ Hustle Fund approaches valuations

Hustle Fund is investing into pre-seed software startups out of its $46M fund.
The majority of entire fund returns tend to come from single or a few "home run" investments. Venture fund managers like Eric keep that in mind while approaching valuations. Central to their approach to valuations is giving each investment the ability to return the fund. They ask themselves: “Can this investment be a 100x return?”

“We have a simple approach to how we think about valuations: At the post-money valuation that we can invest in a founder's company, do we think that this team can 100x? As a simple example: say we invest in Vedika's company at a $1M post-money valuation, do we think that this founder, in her given market, can get to a $100M exit outcome (IPO, acquisition, etc)? If the answer is YES, then we are excited to invest! And that is somewhat rare. This simple approach to portfolio math works for small, pre-seed funds like ours (sub $50M AUM for the given fund) because it means that even small checks we write have the chance to return the entire fund. Why Terrence Rohan @ Otherwise Fund doesn’t focus on valuations

Otherwise Fund is a small, early-stage fund focused on seed and Series A (they don’t lead rounds).
Power law returns dominate venture. Another perspective among venture managers investing in the earlier stage is getting into the right company is more important than getting in at the right valuation. Of course, there are not always mutually exclusive. When they’re in conflict, fund managers like Terrence Rohan first optimize for securing their investment and then for ownership.

“My short answer: I do not focus on valuation. I focus on finding the right companies, and then consider allocation or valuation; given this, I will never pass on valuation (early stage). How Linda Xie @ Scalar thinks about valuations

Scalar is a ~$50M fund focused on investing in pre-seed and seed stage crypto companies (non-lead).
Linda at Scalar believes that passing on a company based on valuation, as long as it falls within a reasonable range, is a missed opportunity. Of course, this has limits as valuations serve as important fund guardrails. She highlights how too high of a valuation at the current round increases the risk of a company raising its next round.

Weekend Fund is a ~$21M fund investing $200-400K checks in pre-seed/seed rounds (non-lead).
The macro climate is outside of any single fund’s control and an investor’s job is to deploy capital over a reasonable amount of time. Managers can influence valuations but the market will have the largest influence on the portfolio outside of significant strategic changes.

“Weekend Fund started in 2017. Our first fund's median entry price was ~$7M post-money. Since then, market valuations have climbed. The equivalent companies are raising at 2-3x higher prices. As an investor, we have to ‘play the ball on the court’ (a phrase I believe I first heard from Sarah Tavel at Benchmark) and recognize that credible founders are looking for a fair or favorable deal, and have options. But that doesn't mean we don't care about the valuation. They matter. We focus on meeting founders early and investing at sub-$10M post-money valuations. Have a clear point of view on valuations (and defend it)

“Now matter the approach, it is important for new managers to have a clear point of view on valuations, and be able to defend it. The safest philosophy (i.e. the most accepted by LPs) is to be valuation sensitive and have a concentrated portfolio.” — Terrence Rohan (Otherwise Fund)

Compare your level of conviction to the price the market is setting

“The ‘valuation question’ is one that comes up frequently in our discussions with the emerging managers we back via Screendoor (where we will invest up to 10% of a fund’s target raise and bring them into a community of investors ongoing for these types of questions). While situations can differ, my general rule is that the market determines the price, so you have to kind of decide whether your conviction in a company is equal to, greater, or less than price the market is telling you they are ‘worth.’” — Hunter Walk (Homebrew)

Be disciplined to ensure you can hit a minimum portfolio size

“It’s a power law business so an EM wants to be able to show the quality of their access, picking, and winning. Having hard and fast ceilings on what you’re willing to pay, or trying to over focus on the upper bound of your ownership target too early in your venture lifecycle might make it tougher to prove selection success. So don’t routinely overpay or outbid, especially when you don’t believe in the company as much as the market does, but potential LPs will be more interested in the number of successful investments you picked than your entry price in them. Just maintain enough discipline to ensure you can hit a minimum portfolio size." — Hunter Walk (Homebrew)

Don’t over-engineer your fund model (at least at the early stage)

“We have institutions, family offices, and high net worths as investors across our three funds. Rarely do we field questions that are onerous about our fund's mathematical model. Given that we raise relatively small fund sizes, and that pre-seed is more about an LP's belief in the talent of the GP – I wouldn't worry too much about over-engineering your portfolio model. You should have a model that you follow, and you need to explain it—but pre-seed is too early a category to model for absolute accuracy, in my opinion. Late-Stage funds however have a much higher expectation of portfolio math by LPs, and I think that is warranted.” — Eric Bahn (Hustle Fund)

I just don't have fun with it anymore. To have fun, ya gotta progress. To progress, ya gotta grind. To grind, ya have to use so much of your time to just acquire some simple items or complete quests.
When all that is done, ya still get bodied by Bosses & random AI just hosing you down, players who dedicate their time to each wipe, and some glitches that pop up outta nowhere. I've played this game for a year with my bud (2 wipes), but am now realizing I just don't get that same kick out of it. Starting to realize that Tarkov isn't giving me what I want out of video games, which is to sit back and have fun for an hour or two before spending time with my girlfriend, friends or myself.
Maybe the game isn't for those of us who can't put those hours in. And that's ok. Wish I wouldn't've bought EOD, but it was exciting before I realized exactly what it would be like to do this stuff

hese are concepts ideas I had for an Metal Gear (1987) remake which I would dub as Metal Gear Solid 6: Outer Haven. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990) would be called Metal Gear Solid 7: Zanzibarland. Both games would be long and give a lot of depth on Solid Snake's past and his relationship with Big Boss, Campbell and Gray Fox. Another game I would push for is Metal Gear Solid: The Philanthropy Chronicles.It would allow players to play as Solid Snake and his supporting cast after the events of Metal Gear Solid 2. Snake’s mission to continue taking out metal gears and track down the Patriots along with Revolver Ocelot. It would lead up to the events of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. I will be working on Metal Gear Solid 7: Zanzibarland concepts soon.
The concept for a Metal Gear Solid 6: Outer Haven (MGS6: OH):
I know its long as Metal Gear (1987) would have to be a game that is remade from the bottom up. A remake of Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake would be easier since it was a rock solid game. One wouldn't have to change much from it just expand on the story, elements and characterization it has already. I would love to get feed back from fans here.
Story:
The storytelling aspect is inspired by how MGS (1998) told its story. The game would start with Otacon, a ghost writer that wrote the novel of Snake’s exploits and those that work with Snake during Operation Intrude N313 telling the events of Metal Gear Solid 6: Outer Heaven to journalist they trust. We learn that Snake is paradon for his crimes and is buried as a war hero next to the grave of Big Boss. Given a Medal of Honor award and other awards from other countries for saving the world several times. The world is now knowing about his story and thus even more interested to learn of Snakes exploits during his youth. David Hayter voice being used as a recorded message from a dying Solid Snake giving accounts on what happened in Metal Gear Solid 6 and 7 along with most of his life. Snake hopes that his message and story will inspire others to be better and fight for what is right.
David Hayter wouldn’t voice a young Solid Snake as I feel a voice actor that is younger but can emulate David Hayter mannerism and his voice should do it. A young Solid Snake having a hint of innocence, nativity, vulnerability and self doubt at times.
David Hayter would voice Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid 7: Zanzibarland since Snake is supposed to be older and wiser. David would be able to give us this voice range and kick it out of the park including the duel against the real Big Boss.
Plot:
The year is 1995, the Soviet Union has collapsed and the Cold War is now over. The threat of nuclear war is gone and the world embraces this newfound peace. However, this peace is short-lived as there are those that don’t want it. The world is engulfed with the threat of terrorism and rogue states that want to get their hands on nuclear weapons. The free world is now being threatened once again. Like MGS3 there would be a Virtuous Mission in MGS6:OH.
Main Mission:
This is where Snake goes to South Africa and has to get to Outer Haven which is a vastly HUGE heavily defended base. Potentially the best soldiers and mercenaries in the world work and defend the base. It is an official mission sponsored by Fox-Hound, NATO, CIA, NSA, UN and top members of the US Government. This means Solid Snake gets a load of equipment, gadgets and weapons for the mission.
Gameplay would be a mix between MSG 3 and MSG 4 and MSG 5. It takes influence from other games like Red Dead Redemption, Splinter Cell and Grand Theft Auto video games along with new mechanics. The concept is to give the game a war survival horror like vibe if you’re spotted by the enemy or having trouble surviving in the wilderness.

2023.06.08 17:28 Classic-Radish2532 I called MIL a terrible person and said she will longer be able to see my kids. Am I an A-hole?

I live with my MIL right now. Been here since basically December 2022, with OH (32M), D7 and S1. My SIL, her D5, S1, and her boyfriend moved in also, all around the same time.
I'll try to keep the story as short as I can, but it'll be difficult.
To start things off, we were told SILs new boyfriend would stay a couple nights after driving SILs car up for her. He stayed 3 months. He left for 2 months, and he has back living with us since March 2023. MIL and SIL decided that SIL should be able to manipulate and gaslight everyone into thinking that we all said it was ok. I had experienced abuse as a child, and OH and I always said no to having random guy that SIL only knew 4 months, only dated for 5 weeks, moving in. We were asked if it would be ok prior to his driving the car up, and I assume that they thought we would just be ok, and MIL backflipped and said we no longer have the right to decide. When I disclosed the abuse to SIL, the only response I got was an angry "Then you can go stay in a hotel!"
F&@! me. So angry having to type any of this stupid sh!t out.
SIL is lazy. Entitled. Believes she is gods gift to everyone. She has no friends, judges everyone harshly, comments on my children and tries to parent over the top of me, amongst other things. MIL is as dumb as they come. She is a big-headed idiot, but she married well, and is essentially a multi-millionaire now, because her hard-working late husband left her everything. She acts like she is extremely fancy, despite living in a disgusting house, literally had mould on the walls and doors before we moved in. Dust, mildew, garbage, clutter, is the "theme" of this house. Fine. Whatever. They live differently to me. However, as much as my OH and I have compromised with these people, and sacrificed our time to make things better for everyone, SIL and MIL deny any compromises or sacrifices ever existed!
I did not know they were this bad prior to agreeing to move in. We moved in to save money for a house deposit. We offered $200/week board, as a starting point. MIL said no to money, even when we pressed, and she wanted my partner, who works full-time M-F, to spend 8 hours EVERY WEEKEND gardening for her instead. We said no, of course, as that is unreasonable. We pay a third of the household bills instead, and OH does a few hours in the garden a month.
SIL I thought was pretty high on narcissism spectrum prior to moving in, but I had never spent so much time with her (only like max maybe 7-10 days over holidays, prior to this). She only ever talks about how she had good grades in school 10 years ago, or how people who did better than her didn't deserve it. She is a failed musician. She sits and plays Wii U most of the time or watches TV or spends the entire day at the shops. Her children are basically neglected; they don't get bathed regularly (her youngest went his first 3 months without a single bath, and he ended up with a hair wrapped around his toe and needed surgery to get it off - SIL blames her, now, ex-partner for not checking toes during nappy changes). Her 5 year old has some sort of stomach infection right now (lasting over 3 weeks, I believe) because of how filthy SIL is. She only changes their clothing if they get wet, basically. I have seen them wear the same clothes, even to bed, all week long.
In March this year, SIL was changing her 1 year olds nappy on the floor in the lounge. She took the poopy one off and then placed his bum (covered in poo) directly on the floor. My baby was only 9 months and crawling, and he puts hands to mouth constantly. I spoke up and made the suggestion that we both put something under the boys bums during nappy changes, using the reason that my baby puts his hands in his mouth and I am not comfortable with crawling on poo germs. SIL was extremely passive-aggressive, told me "you can do what you want" then told me she does use a cloth underneath him normally, which was 100% a lie. I do not like people lying to me. If people are being manipulative or trying to gaslight me, I call it out. She has always been really filthy with her baby. She literally uses a single wipe to clean a poo-bum, and I have seen her use that same wipe on the floor. Just disgusting stuff. Anyway, so I called it out as a lie. She started talking trash, trying to make it about things she believes I have done (eg. My daughter accidentally clogged a toilet that morning), so I unclogged the toilet and said something like "why is it that if you sense the slightest bit of criticism, you chuck a tantrum?"... nothing substantial happened after this point. Supposedly I called the poo nappy a "shitty nappy" and her 5yo repeated it at school. That was my bad, but, hey, I figured SIL and I both did the wrong thing there. Little did I know that SIL had made out to MIL that she was a victim, and I was like "a switch."
Two days later, I'm at work in the evening. Background: SIL works 1.5 hours a week, one afternoon a week. Her boyfriend is on disability for chronic fatigue, so doesn't work. I work 3 hours after kids go to bed, 5 days a week. MIL doesn't work. Ok, back to the story, so I'm at work, and when I get home my OH tells me that SIL had ambushed him when he was chilling in the lounge after the kids fell asleep. She went on a 40 minute rant about me. My 7yo heard this rant. My 7yo was concerned that "Aunty is going to kick mum out of the family like she did with Uncle (SILs ex)." SIL was always abusive towards her ex, but then turned it around and said he was abusive towards her. I have run the examples by my psychologist, who seems to think the same way as me. An example of abuse was (occurring after they split but were still living together): SIL was supposedly sitting in her pyjamas (great emphasis was placed on her being in her pjs) and ex started filming her, and he was repeating "I don't want to talk about this! I don't want to talk about this!" SIL says this is abuse because he didn't have consent to film her, especially not in her pjs. I think that I would probably film someone and say something like this if they were harassing or verbally assaulting me, and wouldn't leave me alone.
OH and I sat MIL down, and MIL justified SILs rant by saying "it was like a valve was released!" as though SIL had no control over what she was saying... for 40 minutes. Where as me saying "shitty nappy" in frustration was not excusable at all! One of the things SIL said about me was that I am not safe around her kids. I assume this is because I referred to a poo-nappy as a shitty-nappy, however SIL has since tried to allege I yelled, at some point, at her kids. Which never has happened. SIL has yelled at my 7yo more than once, and called my 7yo's tears "crocodile tears" and suggested, even when my daughter was 4/5yo, that she was manipulating us. Meanwhile, her own daughter literally lies like it is nothing; doesn't listen to any adults; kicks and screams at strangers, if they happen to be near her if she hurts herself (not even joking), for some examples.
Anyway, so I saw SIL on the stairs the next evening and said "I heard what you said about me. You are a liar. Don't ever talk about me without me in the room again." She said nothing. She did, however, "move in" to her bedroom. Literally, she bought a microwave, little portable cooktop, moved her kids toys and furniture all upstairs to her bedroom. She does her washing up on the balcony. The balcony leads to her mothers room, which has an ensuite. So she doesn't need to leave the room, really.
It turned into full silent treatment. OH had messaged SIL and said we should all get together and talk it out, however SIL ignored it. When we would speak with MIL, she would make out that it was my fault. She would tell me and OH that SIL must've been experienced some sort of transference, where she saw a lot of her, allegedly, abusive ex in me and that is the reason for her silent treatment. She said to me, more than once, that if SIL come to the table, then I can't use the term "gaslight" because it is triggering for SIL. Instead of viewing SIL giving the silent treatment and acting like she has to keep her kids away from me, as being abusive, she characterised it as "SIL is in protective mode and is trying to hold her kids close to her, in their new little home."
MIL messaged OH to rant about me, and called me abusive because I was asserting my right to bloody boundaries, and when I brought it up with MIL she said "I didn't send any message." I show her the message and she says "Well I was very emotional!"
Sorry, I'm probably all over the place.
MIL has basically been scapegoating me since. SIL does this shitty thing, and it's been months, and now I am being told by MIL that I have "taken over the house" when I am simply living normally. She has started doing really petty things, like moving things onto the chair that I use to put my workboots on in the evening, so that I have to constantly clear the same stuff of it over and over and over again. She was angry and banging around in the kitchen lastnight because she saw that I didn't put her dishes away (which I have made the decision to cease doing this past week, as she didn't ever say thank you, and has denied my doing anything for her or anyone else). She yelled at me like I was a bloody naughty dog about 2 weeks ago, about a photo I moved, because I said I wouldn't be putting it back where it was as my daughter uses the space a lot (it was a photo of my SILs daughter, which has been triggering for my own daughter, who SIL has refused to let her play with). She told me that I was yelling, whilst yelling at me. She didn't apologise for her attack, and so I decided that enough was enough. I was verbally, physically, emotionally abused as a child, as well as once more as an adult, and I was not letting this mole continue. I was going to no longer be nice so everyone could be comfortable... she could apologise... I will not speak with someone so abusive the next day, like the abuse didn't happen, ever again. So I just stopped speaking with her. She tried to give me a letter from the mailbox like the day after she spoke to me like a dog, and I just said "ok" (which, apparently, made her so angry! Because how dare I not thank her!?)
Today, MIL accused me of breaking something sentimental of hers. It's a giant stuffed doll her mum made. It is in terrible condition. I have never know it to be taken care of; it's just kind of been left on the floor for years. So she says I have been very "rough" with this giant doll, which is ludicrous and I told her so. I tell her she is being petty, and that falsely accusing me of something like that is disgusting. It turns into a big argument, and I label HER as abusive. I tell her she has trampled our boundaries from the beginning, and that we sacrificed so much and compromised so much. She basically tries tell me and OH that she "out of the goodness of her heart" said we could stay, and that she has "really tried" with me, but that I have done too many things. I ask for one example of what I have done to her. Just one! She literally cannot give me a single example. She tells me that her house is a home and I'm basically destroying that... but by how? By using the shared areas still? Like what does she want me to do? I am a mother, with 2 kids, and I will use the living area, dining and kitchen. I put in a big effort to make sure it is always useable by others (not something that was ever considered by MIL or SIL, for instance when they'd cook together or watch SILs kids... stuff everywhere, left for me, essentially. They'd disappear for hours or, for MIL, days, to avoid having to clean their own messes).
I have been seeing my psychologist again, which I had to wait until this month to be able to get in to see. I spent basically most of April and May thinking about suicide. I have, as they all knew, a history of depression and anxiety. I was 95% mentally well when this shit started occurring. I was so overwhelmed with silent treatment and abuse that I would drive around (not with my kids) and look at trees and contemplate crashing into them. One time I dug in and dragged my fingernails down my forearm, to the point that I bled... I didn't feel a thing. That was weeks ago and it still hasn't fully healed.
This month I started feeling a bit like I was coming out of the fog. My OH has been very supportive (although he is still far too passive when it comes to his mother, but I know he is doing his best, and I genuinely feel bad for the position he's in). I was starting to feel positive again. I was able to refocus on being with my children and be happy with my family. I genuinely believe that MIL did not like to hear my joy or laughter with my kids or OH. I can't think of what else would have made her behave so poorly, so quickly.
Hearing her accusations today, to hear her say she "tried" so hard with me; that she does things out of the "goodness" of her heart... it really triggered something in me. I called her an abuser and terrible person. She wants us to move out, which I'm all for. I said to her that when we leave, she will no longer see my kids (who, despite living in the same house as them, she NEVER tries to see, and NOT because I've stopped her... she just doesn't put in that effort), and her response was to tell me that I'm a very vindictive person. When I said her actions were vindictive, she was all excuses. I'm apparently the problem. She also told me that my psychologist is basically being duped by me... so that's great too.
So this is a please-don't-be-too-harsh on me, AITA for telling my MIL she is a terrible person and can no longer see my kids?

I grew up on Zelda games, and clearly BOTW and TOTK are pretty different from the rest, but something about TOTK is making me just not enjoy it nearly as much.
One is the margin for failure is just too low. With the verticality, one misstep means falling off an entire island to either die and hope it autosaved nearby, or slowly glide and spend a few minutes teleporting to a tower, launching, gliding forever just to get back where I was. Combine with a slow fade to black, loading screen, cutscene to launch up, slow fade to finally controlling the glide, I just end up annoyed the whole time. Same with trying out one of the runways for a wing - I want to try flying more but if I miss the island I'm aiming for it costs too much time to get back for the next try.
Enemies don't seem to scale nicely. Stumble upon some spot that looks cool near the center of the map where it should be easy and a huge golem pops up, or the mysterious beckoning lady that turns into 3 yiga, and get my butt kicked for a while when my weapons don't seem to do any damage.
Find a new zonai device on the ground. Nothing explains them in-game until you get one from a dispenser or a shrine teaches you about it. Wonder what it does. Hit it. Oh, it keeps zapping me, I've fallen, I can't turn it off, I'm dead. Respawn miles away on ground level. Cool.
And maybe my biggest gripe is turning on devices by hitting them burns up weapons. It's a widespread game mechanic that's supposed to encourage creativity and experimentation - why does this burn up weapon durability? Now I have to spend time finding sticks and managing my meager inventory size, because where did hestu go next, because I don't want to burn up my decent weapons turning on devices. You guys who build all these crazy contraptions I see around here, how do you have the patience?
I'm trying not to get so grumpy - and I'm admittedly not very far, only found like 5 map tower things so far -
Any genius tips for learning to enjoy this more?

With the recent news that a potential consortium of players may boycott their NIL being included due to the $ amount being too low, I propose this as viable options and am curious what the community thinks.
HOW REAL ARE THE PLAYERS, REALLY?
As great as it could/would be to have a roster full of real players on day 1 so we can play as our favorite players and give them virtual glory - real players in a college game is not cental to the overall experience. When we talk about building a dynasty, we do not talk about making sure Jake Plaster, 3-star QB out of Dunedin, FL, who is going to be a true frosh at Florida Atlantic this year, wins a Heisman. We talk about turning FAU into a ACC or SEC powerhouse.
Don't get me wrong, the story we could create with Jake Plaster would be a fun one. But if you're not already a FAU fan, or from Dunedin, FL, would you know if I just made this guy up? Because I did. The actual player is Luke Rucker, 3-star QB out of Sanford, FL.
If we had real rosters with the game, in any given dynasty a maximum of 5 "real" players are going to win the Heisman. Most of us will play for 10, 12, 15, 30 years of a dynasty. Being able to watch the real Luke Rucker do well in college football might be cool if we did something great with him. Or he could be a total flop, transfer to a FCS team after his frosh year, convert to Safety, and end up a sales executive for John B. Stetson hat company in 10 years.

THE FOCUS IS THE SCHOOL, NOT THE PLAYERS
What I think we want out of our college football game is that FAU feels like FAU, and Alabama feels like Alabama.
I'm a pretty big college football fan, have been for the better part of 30 years. I'm a Mizzou guy, was at school there in the 90s when Larry Smith was the coach and Corby Jones was our QB and we played in some great games. I was a season ticket holder with my dad for the entire Gary Pinkel era, I earned a reputation among Mizzou online communities for making highlight videos of Mizzou's games from 2006-2010ish, and even contributed a bit to the beginning of www.rockmnation.com with Bill Connelly before Rock M became a part of SB Nation's huge surge and Bill Connelly became the force of nature he is.
I say all of that to say that I don't have a clue who is on Alabama's roster without looking it up. I can name a few players, sure, but I have no idea really. And I'm willing to bet we're all in this boat - we know who some of the big players are, but if you're going to start a new dynasty with Troy you MIGHT know one of their players unless you're already a Troy fan.
What I do know about Alabama is that they should have as much talent on the field as any team in college football. I know Bryant-Denny Stadium is huge, and should be sold out for every game, and have a sea of crimson and cream other than the visiting fan sections in the seats. I know their chants, I know their fight songs, I know they have good looking cheerleaders because it's the south, and I know they expect to win every game they play.
And that's what CFB24 should be aiming at. NIL of the real players isn't icing on the cake. It's not even sprinkles on the icing. It's getting rainbow sprinkles instead of all one color.

ROSTER PARAMETERS ARE THE ANSWER
CFB24 and beyond, just like its predecessors, will be great in part if the game is good at generating a balance of realistic fictional players for years to come. If we can't get that, then the rest of this is all meaningless.
In the past, and especially those of us old enough to remember the days even before DT Linder, etc., either named the rosters ourselves or just played with WR #81 for a couple of years. And just like one of my above paragraphs pointed out, it didn't matter that we didn't know his real name because we didn't know his real name anyway. He may have been just like the real WR #81 on that team, but honestly we have no idea. And it was fine because the game was fun.
So, making the assumption that the game is capable of creating balanced, realistic, fictional players - lean into it.
The game, at startup, should create fictional rosters for every single team. Every one of us will get a different roster to start. Each player will have a name, height, weight, skin tone, number, hometown, abilities, style, uniform combo, etc. But it's procedurally generated from the start, so any similarities will be purely coincidental and will never repeat.
Each team can be hardcoded for year 1 to have certain parameters their roster should meet, and it will make schools feel authentic from the start.
Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio State, etc., should be full of players that were recruited as 4-star and 5-star players out of HS, with 3-star players filling the depth chart. You can easily find data from the past 10+ years showing what a typical class breakdown looks like for schools to break it down to what % of the roster is RS SR, SR, RS JR, JR, RS SO, SO, RS FR, FR. What % of the roster is a certain position to meet their current play style. What % of the roster is from home state, vs neighboring states, vs the rest of the country (which will help make Pipeline States feel accurate for recruiting).
So when you start your game, and you get a QB1 at USC named Michael Moss, wearing #5, that is a RS SO, standing 6'3" weighing 225 lbs, is from Las Vegas, NV, is a 86 OVR and looks like a new version of Cam Newton, how many of you are going to take to the streets because "BUT THAT'S NOT CALEB WILLIAMS!"
Of course it's not Caleb Williams. But he's a stud QB at USC, the band is playing 'Fight On' as he runs out of the tunnel and the Trojan is stabbing his sword into midfield, thousands of USC fans have 2 fingers in the air, and you're about to put a beating on UCLA. You're already trying to recruit his replacement because Michael Moss is leading the Heisman Hopefuls for you this season, and as a RS SO he's sure to go Pro after the year you're having with him. And that 5-star Athlete is going to make a great QB.
And by year 2 the rosters are 25% fiction anyway.
I'd say just lean into it and start them fictional from day 1.
The most important thing we can get is the schools are represented accurately and believably. It's not about the players, and honestly never has been.

After some fiddling I got it to spit out five suggestions for professional musicians that would be good candidates for Craig’s replacement. These are all seasoned, touring musicians who are adept at keyboard/sampling - I’ll go through them from least likely to most likely:
5) Jay Jay Winter. It would be weird if they hired a member called Jay Jay to play away with Jay. Also arguably more problematic is that this guy has been dead for ten years.
4) Ethan Kass. Unlikely as the guy is mired in sexual assault allegations and from what I’ve read is the human equivalent of bin juice.
3) Wes Borland. I don’t think many people would be disappointed if it was Wes as he’d certainly be a great fit, but the new guy is clearly not him.
2) Jordan Rudess. Arguably the most talented and seasoned pro on the list, but the guy is in his mid-60s. It’s not him.
1) Jamie Muhoberac. He’s been round the block a few times. He lives in LA. He’s very familiar with Craig’s set up. He even looks like he matches the new guy’s physique and eyes from the promo shot. Strong contender.
Zac Baird is still where I’d put my money - he and Slipknot have swam in the same circles, could be a physical match and doesn’t appear to have any current commitments- but the Muhoberac suggestion is compelling…

Trunks, Rikain, and Nina are zooming through the universe at blinding speeds. Trunks suddenly stops in a random moment of realization. Nina stops too, but Rikain takes a second before he realizes the two stopped and goes back to them.
Rikain: What is it?
Trunks: Why didn't I think of that!?
Nina almost doesn't get to finish her sentence as Trunks flies back the way they came. Nina and Rikain quickly catch up to him.
Nina: What is it?
Trunks: I don't know if it's a hundred percent, but there is a good chance she is at the intergalactic bar.
Nina: Why?
Trunks: She...she's an alcoholic.
Nina: Oh...I'm so sorry.
Trunks: It's fine.
The trio stops in front of a bar called Snail's. All Trunks remembered about the name was the one scientist that Birb would talk about whenever the Thunderstriders were brought up. He sighed to himself before walking in.
Rikain: Snail's? Isn't that the name of one of dad's friends?
Nina: Rikain! Shhh!
Trunks: Dad? Who would that be?
Nina: Oh its...uh...probably someone you don't know...yeah.
Trunks: Okay?
Nina awkwardly smiles before walking into the bar, quickly trying to change the subject. Trunks and Rikain follow her. The bar is loud and crowded with species from across the universe. Nina gets behind Trunks, letting him take the lead. He finally spots Mia sitting at the bar with several shot glasses next to her. She seems off balance but she is sober enough to stay up straight in the seat. Suddenly, a tall man, a human-like creature with a mix of brown and blonde hair sits next to Mia. He looks like a cowboy mixed with a homeless man. He starts to try to strike a conversation with Mia, who obviously isn't interested. When he realizes this, he tries to get close to Mia, who responds by grabbing a beer bottle and breaking with over his head. When Trunks sees this, he quickly gets closer, he finally hears the man's voice.
Random Man: The hell is wrong with you bitch!?!
Mia: Fuck offf....
Random Man: Piece of shit!
The man lunges at Mia, ready to strike her, but Trunks steps in the way. When the man makes contact with Trunks, a few of his fingers break. He howls in pain as Rikain and Nina get over to Mia, supporting her while she dozes off.
Trunks: Get away from my wife!
The man gets up and gets close to Trunks, pointing a gun at his hip, finger on trigger.
Random Man: Fuck you pretty boy.
Trunks: You're gonna regret that.
The man goes to fire, but Trunks snatches the bullet and gun before it hits him. He then delivers a swift punch, knocking the man out in one hit.
Trunks: Cmon guys, let's go.
Trunks is holding Mia, who is now passed out. Nina is holding Rikain because Rikain got tired on the trip back. After a minute, they arrive back at the house. When they make it, they find Silver and Grovyle passed out on the couch. Trunks sets Mia down in their bed and then he goes to Rose's room, where he finds Lucina and Rose both sound asleep. He goes back out to the living room where Nina is still holding Rikain.
Nina: Hey, sorry to bother, but is it OK if he crash here for the night?
Trunks: Sure, why not.
Nina lies Rikain down on the couch before helping Trunks get Silver and Grovyle on different couches. When they are done, they sit down on the couch Rikain is sleeping on.
Nina: So, if you don't mind me asking, why does Mia drink so much?
Trunks looks at the ceiling to process the question before turning back to her.
Trunks: 2 years ago, a close friend of mine, who was her brother, died in action. She has been grieving ever since. It turned into drinking shortly after our daughter was born.
Nina: Oh. I'm so sorry.
Trunks: It's fine. We are managing. I've taken lead of the team he created. Mia took his weapons and his armors went back to Tony.
Nina: I see. So what was this person like?
Trunks: Well...
Suddenly everything cuts to black. When it cuts back, a man is seen sitting down on the floor. He is breathing heavily and he reaches all around his body, seemingly looking for something. When he doesn't find anything, he sighs in relief. He stands up and dusts off his coat.

Julian McMahon can be a perfect gentleman. And he can be a total goof.
During a break in his trailer on location with "Profiler," the NBC dramatic series in which he plays FBI Det. John Grant, the strikingly handsome Australian-born actor dissolves into a mock, aristocratic mode.
"I love life. I love the whole breathing thing," he declares, drawing in his cheeks, rolling his eyes. "I love breathing in, I love breathing out."
Earlier, on the set, located this day in downtown Los Angeles in an old meat-packing house configured to look like an artist's loft, he greets visitors with kisses on both cheeks.
"Did they roll out the red carpet for you?" he asks, smiling brilliantly, gesturing broadly as if to say, "All this is mine, welcome to my palace."
His "palace" is the less-than-glamorous warehouse floor, packed with cast and crew—and McMahon is not the star of the show or the center of attention. But McMahon—his over-the-top personality and 6-foot-2 frame aside—has the kind of acting chops that colleagues say could help him emerge from "Profiler's" largely ensemble cast.
"When you meet him, there is an innate charm and likability, a 'regular guy' kind of thing," says Stephen Kronish, who joined "Profiler" as executive producer this fall. "He has the ability and the physical package that casting people look for. If you can get men to want to go out and have a beer with you and get women to want to jump into bed with you, that's a pretty good mix. He's got that quality."
While many Americans may not be familiar with McMahon, the 30-year-old Sydney native is a household name in his home country and the United Kingdom. His father, Sir William McMahon, spent a lifetime in politics, the high point as prime minister of Australia from 1971 to 1972. And in the early '90s, the actor starred in "Home and Away," a successful Australian soap opera with a huge international audience.
Then too there was the media swarm that followed McMahon during his courtship of and marriage (in 1994) to his "Home and Away" co-star, Australian singer-actress Dannii Minogue, sister of pop star, Kylie. They divorced three years later, as her career took her to London and his to New York, where he landed a role as Ian Rain on NBC's daytime drama "Another World."
Although McMahon, who has been with "Profiler" since its debut in 1996, has a key role, the way his character is constructed in the high drama formula doesn't allow much opportunity for him to flex his acting muscles. For three seasons, the show has followed the lives of forensic psychologist Dr. Samantha "Sam" Waters (Ally Walker) and the FBI's Atlanta-based Violent Crimes Task Force, which investigates serial killing crimes across the country. Sam's mentor, Bailey Malone (Robert Davi), heads the task force, which includes McMahon's character.
The thriller's hook is that Sam possesses the ability to "think in pictures" in order to "profile"—and thereby identify—this very specific breed of killers.
McMahon's character can be hot-headed or sober at the flip of a switch. There is his scowling intensity when he's face to face with--or gunning down--a psycho killer. But there's not much emotional range for the detective, who's a professionally driven loner. John Grant has a bit of sarcastic humor, and he more often than not goes for the jugular rather than the niceties of interrogation techniques, but that's about it.
Generally, the character is immutable, unreadable. However, there have been moments when McMahon's been able to convey sensitivity.
In one episode this season, a serial killer has a gun pointed at Grant's head. She's a cop who's been killing--and castrating--men who don't comply with police investigations. Forced to his knees, Grant gives an impassioned, but calculated, speech: "You were everything a father could want in a daughter, but that wasn't good enough . . . " his eyes searching, his voice cracking. He closes his eyes for a moment, and then she turns the gun on herself.
McMahon actually has little in common with the enigma he has been given to portray on "Profiler."
"He's very sensitive, full of enthusiasm and positive energy," notes Davi, who adds that he's formed an older brother type of relationship with his co-star. He recounts how McMahon spent time with his family and young daughters when Davi's wife was ill. "He's like the Australian Roberto Benigni, with warmth and generosity."
"Baywatch" star Brooke Burns, who has been dating McMahon for five months, echoes the sentiment.
"He's very masculine and, at the same time, very tender-hearted," says the 21-year-old actress. "He really cares about people, he's genuine."
On the set, in counterpoint to the scene being taped--in which a female agent discovers she is being stalked--McMahon is hamming it up off camera, pretending to swallow pills on the kitchen counter, slashing the air with a kitchen knife Zorro-style, kicking up his heels.
When the scene is over, he slips into a Mafioso character: "It was good for me. Was it good for you?"
"Part of this job as an actor is to look as intense as you can," McMahon says later. "I have to laugh. I get the giggles, like back in school."
At least once this season he's been allowed to laugh—during a guest spot on the NBC sitcom "Will & Grace," playing a steaming hunk who rekindles Grace's emotional fire.
"Creatively, it was fascinating," he says. "They're really spontaneous on the set."
On the Saturday following the taping, McMahon is at his Hollywood home, an eclectic place located directly underneath the Hollywood sign.
"As a kid I didn't even know about Hollywood. I was into school, sports, friends and my family," he says, his speech still slightly flavored by Australia. "But then I remember going and seeing 'Star Wars' and thinking that was amazing, that for two hours, it put me totally somewhere else."
The second of three children, he traveled at an early age to places like Buckingham Palace and the White House and was at home when his parents entertained. Though the family was close, McMahon did not spend much time with his much older and politically involved father. That changed when his father was diagnosed with cancer. The two formed a tight bond until his death in 1988.
"It was difficult because I had just found this best friend, an 80-year-old man, and he was just taken from me," he recalls. "My dad was the kind of person who would treat everybody the same, a really wonderful trait that he passed on to me without my knowing it."
He also inherited his father's sense of humor, according to McMahon's mother Lady Sonia, a leading society figure in Australia.
"Julian was always joking around and the life of the party," she says by phone. "Not that I ever thought it would lead to something like this."
There were hints. McMahon started modeling when he was 17, after a university stint. Heading off for Los Angeles, New York, Milan, Rome and Paris, he wanted to make a name for himself. He went from modeling to the daytime soaps, then prime time. He hopes serious movie roles will be next. During the 1997 series hiatus, McMahon appeared in "In Quiet Night," an independent film that never made it to theatrical release, and this summer, he will continue reading for feature film parts.
"I hate labels, but people put you in a box or category, that's how they are. But you can't allow yourself to get in that box," he says.
Nevertheless, for a while most people will connect McMahon with the distant Det. Grant. This week, NBC announced that "Profiler" would be back for another season in the fall.
Part of the network's "thrillogy" Saturday evening lineup, the show has been a hit among adults 18-49 and women 25-54, and the 1997-98 season gave NBC its first time period win in five years among adults 18-49 on the night. But McMahon knows that the television life cycle can be short—and he's prepared for his run on "Profiler" to end.
Says McMahon: "You have to have the ability to pick yourself up and go on when things don't go right."

Foo Fighters-But Here We Are
Of all the 90’s alternative bands Foo Fighters have been the most consistent. Their blend of alternative/arena rock has survived the test of time. I feel they are a good group but I wouldn’t consider them all time great. I think one of the keys to their success is the likeability of Dave grohl. He just seems like a nice guy. He might be the most likable rock star of all time. He doesn’t have the entitled pretentious reputation that some rock stars develop. He also knows how to write a hook and a medley. This album comes out in a tumultuous time for The group. Their last couple albums were not received well. They seemed to just be going through the motions creatively. Their last album Medicine At Midnight saw the band change up their sound with mixed results. The band also suffered a major loss with the sudden death of Drummer Taylor Hawkins. Dave Grohl suffered another tragic loss with the death of his mother. Both Tragedies were a catalyst to the sound and tone of their new album But We Are Here. This is a raw and revealing album for the band. It is also their best album since The Colour And The Shape in my opinion. One of the best late career albums I think I ever heard. A record that will stand the test of time and be examined years from now.
The album opens with “Rescued” right away you hear that raw sound that will echo throughout this whole project.the first lines of the song "It came in a flash/it came out of nowhere" sums up the shock the band felt after Taylor’s death. This song could be seen as the start of the healing process for the band. Grohl handled the drumming for the album and it reminds everyone what a fantastic musician he is. “Under You” reminds me of that classic Foo Fighters sound. It has a very “Learning To Fly” vibe. “Hearing Voices” has this eerie haunting groove. You can hear the grief in Dave’s voice."But Here We Are” has this dense raw sound but also maintains that melodic intensity that is a staple of the band’s sound. “The Glass” is a beautiful melodic ballad that has this sweeping hook. The track just floats around with such lushness. “Nothing At All” has this midtempo groove that builds and builds and it finally crescendos into glorious fashion. “Show Me How” features vocals from Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet Grohl. It gives the song a melodic groove that sounds so lush. Groh’s vocals mesh well with Violet’s perfectly. “Beyond Me” begins the gut wrenching closing of the record. I don’t remember an album that sticks the landing like this one. This song is filled with big emotions. It levels up the emotions and you can feel the pain and grief from every member of the band. A great guitar solo ecoplate this song’s emotional vibe. Correct me if I am wrong but “Teacher” is the longest song in the Foos discography. If you thought “Beyond Me” was an emotional roller coaster you haven’t experienced anything yet. This song is a gut punch that hits on so many levels. For a song that is almost 10 minutes long it doesn’t overstay its welcome. It is just rough and raw but also contains some great melodies. The final song on the album “Rest” might just be the best rock song I have heard this decade. You could say it is the band’s dealing with the final stages of grief which is acceptance. If you don’t listen to this song and not have a tear in your eye you might not have a soul. It is just so gut wrenchingly beautiful. I mean it might go down as one of the greatest closing songs ever recorded. Grohl’s vocals when he sings “You Can Rest Now” is just a thing of pure beauty. The band sounds absolutely magnificent. Just a powerful enduring sound. It leaves with a sense of comfort that the pain this album conveys will someday recede and they will heal and move on. Just a mind blowing way to end this project. The song suddenly cuts off and you are just left with your own thoughts. Brilliant way to end this painful journey.
I have already ranked this album as the fourth best album I have listened to and it might eventually move up to one by the end of year. It is an album that should be on everyone’s bucket list. I am giving it 9/10. It's just an amazing modern rock record.

Hey so I got kicked out of a heroic raid yesterday without explanation im not mad I just want to know why to get better.
I am not sure I am pressing the right buttons at the right time. I try to SND into Rupture into Symbols into Tea then Shadow dance build dance macabre and hit cb/st. I recently added flagellation to my kit, where would that fit ? Also im having trouble understand if I should tornado in black powder, or just spam shuriken storm (into powder).
