His sight moved across the crowd of people, landing on Fang Yuan, he saw a slight smile. A chill rose in his heart: This person has such strange and deviant thoughts that differ from common logic, he has an inclination towards self destruction. He has likely turned demonic!
It would not matter if he did not play by the rules, the more terrifying thing was he did not think according to the rules. His thought process was completely different from ordinary people, he was already too far away from the norm!
This was a demon!
“This is a true demon!” Frost Tide tribe’s leader felt a chill. He felt this was Fang Yuan’s true nature, even though Fang Yuan did not wantonly slaughter lives, even though Fang Yuan currently still committed acts of kindness like repaying favors!
Frost Tide tribe’s leader felt a deep powerlessness at the same time.
“He is too strong-minded and stubborn.
He clearly only has rank three cultivation, how dare he? Unreasonable, unreasonable! A lunatic, a madman! He is too arrogant, he actually shows contempt for life and death!! Right… he does not even fear death, what would he not dare to do? All the wealth, beauties and status in the world might be useless when compared to his own true feelings! Whispers amongst the denizens of the demon realm spoke of a ghastly shadowy figure, akin to the Grim Reaper, who would stalk living beings up until their demise, and then rob them of their worldly possessions. Whether it was to doom the newly departed spirits so that they could never pay Charon the Ferryman, or the ghoul was simply the manifestation of Earthly greed, it didn't seem to matter now. Salazar pushed his jet black hair out of his eyes as he took a seat upon a golden throne that likely belonged to a King that was de-throned, only to be robbed by the Vanity Phantom.
However, the location of this treasure, along with its subsequent discovery and acquisition was not all Salazar's handiwork. Instead, he had his quarrelsome harem of women, infamously known across the lands as "The Vixens of Babylon," to thank for the current treasure he stood before. Their powers of seduction, stealth, and infiltration were only matched by their brutality, ambition, and cunning natures. One may find this claim hard to believe due to the constant quibbling and petty disagreements that Salazar would often sort out himself. While Zera, the Cleric, was the de-facto leader of the group (obviously under Salazar's direction), she would still defer to him when it came to putting each Vixen in their place and redirecting their pent up energies into practical training regiments. Even so, the very real fruitful results of their excursions led to the evolution of Salazar's goals and as a result, more powerful targets. Rarer treasures to fund their travels, stronger foes to beat, and his ultimate goal: getting revenge on the Wizard who had banished him, having dubbing Salazar the "Bastard Hybrid of Babylon."
This banishment lasted a millennia, and it was Zera who had discovered this ancient injustice and completed the daunting task of returning Salazar to this Earthly realm. Once summoned, Salazar was obligated to fulfill a single wish, and when Zera wished for him to lead her to the Vanity Phantom's treasures, their journey began. Taking lead on the journey, Salazar made the executive decision to form a team.
The firsts to be tested and recruited were Alice, the Warrior, and Anastasia, the Archer. The two would butt heads often, and had a powerful rivalry that Salazar would redirect into games and contests for them, finding that these brought out the best in both of them. It was the result of their stubborn natures that had completely obliterated the other candidates, resulting in both of them earning a spot on the Team.
Finally, there was Jade, the Rogue, who had been caught trying to rob the team. Admiring her tact and skill, Salazar added her to the team. More often than not, her dark and almost demonic aesthetics and demeanor held an allurement that even Salazar was unable to resist. Perhaps this bred resentment and jealously amongst the other Vixens, but Salazar was not shy or private about keeping her close to him at all times. Referring to her as his pet, he even organized an entire mission just to obtain an enchanted Vantablack collar for her to wear. The enchantment made it double as a tracking spell that Jade can enact with Zera's assistance.

I am a single mother to two children. 16 and 12. My 12 year old son is causing me a lot of grief and I am considering sending him to live with his dad.
Since the beginning of time, he’s been a lazy, unmotivated and difficult child. A stark contrast to my older child who could not be more opposite in personality. He is argumentative, defiant, whiny, sensitive and all he wants to do is play video games.
He is a picky eater and refuses to eat nearly anything but sugar. He steals piggy bank money and brings it to school to buy candy before and after school at a nearby store. He refuses to eat the lunches I pack and he refuses to pack his own. He is underweight and malnourished. He often gets free food at school by claiming I don’t feed him.
He wets the bed nearly every night due to being too lazy to go pee at bedtime and too deep of a sleeper to wake up. I have to continuously wash his sheets daily, wash his mattress pad because sometimes he will sleep on his mattress without his sheets because they’re all in the washing machine. It’s driving me insane!
He refuses to shower. He stinks!!! Won’t wear the deodorant I buy him, or change his socks. He refuses to brush his teeth. I’ve had to pin him down and force brush his teeth due to them being so covered in gunk. He has athletes foot which has caused weeping blisters and he struggles to walk because of it. He refuses to let me put the anti fungal medication on him. He also has warts on his feet which he refuses to let me treat and is always dirty.
He won’t get a haircut and can’t see out of his eyes because it’s so long and in his face. He hides his dirty clothes in his closet and I have to go on a scavenger hunt to find them. He has a garbage can NEXT to his bed and he will throw trash on the floor next to it. He will sneak granola bars and fruit snacks and eat them all when I’m not home leaving nothing for my daughters lunches. I’m talking 10+ granola bars in a sitting.
I’m fucking exhausted. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life babying him and I worry things are not going to get better. I have tried everything, putting him in counseling, yelling at him, pleading with him, calmly telling him how this will impact his life. I turn the Wi-Fi off for weeks at a time he will just vegetable out in bed.
I want to send him with his dad but I know for a fact his dad wouldn’t be able to deal and would send him back within hours.

My reason is not related to violence or so , but we are fundamentally different. He is a religious Muslim, and I am agnostic but never shared my religious thoughts with anyone.
At first, I was optimistic that it would succeed as he is a kind and loving person. But his religious thoughts are killing me and he just trying to change my character and always asking me to be more religious ( wear more religious clothes; althouh i am wearing already hijab but he wnats me to wear abayas and skirts only, pray all the 5 prays, and ban alot of enjoyable things for me because it isn't religious) I started slowly to feel depressed. Most of the time, i am depressed and toxic, and he starts feeling that. He also told me that even if I wasn't convinced by his ideas, I needed to obey as he is the leader of the family.
The thing is, he wants kids, and now I really don't want to breed kids in this culture.
I am just afraid to lose him as he genuinely loves me, but his religious ideas ( that he will never change ) make him do that to me. Am afraid to regret, but also afraid to get kids and then won't be able to live with him anymore and after that I may also get divorced which will ruin my life, his life, our children's life.

...and hoo boy, as Partitio would say, what a ride. I actually never finished Octopath Traveler 1 because its flaws started to wear on me after about 40 hours. But I honestly loved OT2 from start to finish (90 hours).
There were definite improvements in terms of the gameplay, but my biggest takeaway is the soundtrack, which I'll hold up against the best in the jrpg genre (and this comes from a big fan of Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda). Each character's theme is so well done and unique from each other, and the various battle songs absolutely slap. Hats off to Yasunori Nishiki and his team.

I have been thinking of the possibility that I almost hit you and your dog. How horrified you were for yourself and your dog. I’d hurt even more if my dog was injured than if it were me.
My dog was in the car and I know if I were in your same shoes, I would act the same way. I’ve definitely smacked someone’s car window before when almost getting hit myself.
I was not being a safe driver. I did not fully stop before the zebra. I did not double check the cross walk. I was focused on the cars perpendicular to me and inching forward to see the cars. I didn’t see you and the fact that I didn’t is my fault.
I am embarrassed, feel guilty, and am absolutely ashamed of not being 100% focused, considerate and safe driver when I was behind the wheel. I am ruminating, and will continue to do so. I have been thinking about this since it happened. I am deeply sorry about the fear that i may have caused and the possible injuries that could have happened. I will be a better driver for everyone around me and myself.

Let's just say I'm a young somewhat well-off looking male driving my Expander on a road near, say, Kebayoran?
I am in the middle of driving in a straight line when suddenly a motorcycle is trying to aggresively change lane, and the driver accidentally got unbalanced and he got hit by the car and died from the traumatic shock.
Now there are crowds of people in the crime scene. Most are curious and horrified seeing the blood starting to spill on the dark rough asphalt road. Some of the other motorcycle drivers started to blame me, presumably ignorant of what just happened. I'm now overwhelmed, shocked, and my mind is racing faster than the speed of light.
A menacing aura started to walk towards the scene. The man is wearing a grey uniform with a bright green vest. He is wearing a cap. Matilah, pak pol sudah datang.
"As usual", I jokingly think to myself, trying to cope with this situation, "the cops would do not much help."
And it turns out to be true, after they somewhat tried to settle down the confused crowd and escorted my ass towards the police station, he started to file the report of the accident. The cop is mostly filing the documents for the bureaucracy. All he can say is that "Harusnya bapak menghindar dong, motornya aja oleng depan bapak, kok nggak ngerem."
I tried to hold off an angry sigh and fiery languages of the zoo kingdom. I can only defend myself and state out the obvious that there was no space, and he was also at fault, but the man just... ignored my plead and repeated the previous statement like a programmed NPC.
Suddenly in the middle of the conversation, he started to ambiguously and gave off-handed remarks, trying to imply that I needed to pay him a certain amount of money so it will "help clear this off easier". I politely declined, but he once again started to do it again. I tried to refuse once more, but the thought of being stuck in this looping never-ending NPC dialogue for more minutes and probably could turn into hours in this office has started to melt my mind.
Plus, I probably still have to deal with this dead motorcyclist's family the next day, hoping at least they are not trying to provocatively trying to blame me and extort more of my money aside from the "uang duka" and some sympathy money.
But with deterrence and a bit of luck, the man just started to get exhausted with my refusal and grumpily let me go and almost as if he just wanted me out of his mind before he probably tries to extort, I mean, help report the next traffic accident.
Little did he know, I had secretly been recording the whole entire, almost 2 hours conversation on my phone. I was glad my phone had not somehow run out of storage.
Now I have the choice to just let this bad incident off my rug and move on from this cycle of hell, or do I upload segments of this recording on a twitter account and start getting viral as the next usual police scandal that will at best last about 4 days before some new grooming anak case because the perpetator was "enticed by the devil", before being forced to apologize to the masses due to "insulting a government institution and spreading hoax".
(But that rebellious spirit will record again the voice of the police and/or Ormas trying to threaten you to apologize and if fate be upon you, you will be the next figure to start the next "Public Official Slander Period" like Sambo or Mario)

2023.06.08 16:48 Spidertendo Take I have regarding the Xenoblade Chronicles versions: Despite the more colorful and "anime" change in artstyle, I'm able to take the story more seriously in Definitive Edition then in the Wii version by the 2nd half of the game.
(Major spoilers if you haven't made it at the head of the Mechonis and beaten the Mechon commander there yet)
For the record I have played Definitive Edition first so I might be pretty bias with this take. I've finished the main quest of Definite Edition twice and I have lately been playing the Wii version on the side. Partially to kill some time but also to see why some people who prefer the Wii version's artstyle mean when they say that the change to a more colorful and "anime" look muddied the more serious tone that the story was going for. While I see where you guys are coming from, I can't be inclined to agree with that, especially when you get to where Fiora/Mayneth show up from Prison Island and onwards.
The main reason for this is because Definite Edition added a QOL addition to where you can equip one piece of armor but also have the look of another piece of armor. The Wii version doesn't have this.
For the record, I see where you guys are coming from, especially on the first half of the game. There's noticably more blood effects (not to sound like an edgy pre-teen who unironically thinks 'blood and gore = good' but Xenoblade 1 frequently uses blood as a 'show don't tell' visual in the first half of the game. Definite Edition does show blood yeah but only when Fiora """dies""" and when Melia's father dies.) And some parts like Fiora and Shulk's interactions before the Colony 9 massacre and when the party first runs to Melia in Makna Forest feel less 'uwu kawaii xD' in the Wii version due to the semi-realistic look.
BUT... The Wii version has a serious case of what I call 'It's my ass kicking outfit bitch!' syndrome. By the time Fiora joins your party in the Fallen Mechonis Arm, equipping your party member's desired gear (wether it's for the raw Defensive boosts or for Gem Slots or both) often clashes with one another in terms of looks. Yeah Definite Edition technically still has this issue but at least in Definite Edition, there's a workaround with this thanks to the QOL improvement of equipping the look of one armor piece but the stats/gem slots of another. I typically just keep the Default look on everyone unless I like the color palette of one similar armor piece more (IE: Shulk's blue variant and Melia's Red and Black variant of their default outfits) or I think certain armor pieces look cool on certain characters (IE: Dunban's eye patch and Fiora's visors)
When micromanaging my party members desired gear for armor and gems in the Wii version when Fiora gets back on your team, I couldn't help but burst out laughing when Shulk was wearing one piece of chest Mechon Armor while in his underpants and sandles, Dunban being topless wearing heavy bright yellow pants and Fiora having a Blue and Purple outfit that's exposes so much of her skin, it honestly wouldn't look out of place in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I couldn't take the party members encounters with Gadolt and Egil and the reveal of Shulk being a husk as a vessel for Zanza seriously because of this.
TL;DR: the Wii version doesn't have the QOL feature of equipping one armor piece of armor for the stats and gem slots and another for it's looks like DE does so I couldn't take the events that take place in the Mechonis very seriously.

Camille pov
After finishing lunch, I decided to go to the control room. If I couldn't be out there with my crews, at least I could watch them and tell them their being stupid over the radio. Though I didn't get far.
Because walking past an intersection I heard a bleating sound. A sound made by a goat. A sound that most definitely should not have been made or heard on a station, on the moon.
Stopping I turned around, walked back towards the intersection, and looked into the corridor I heard the noise from.
"Quoi?"
In front of me was a sight I never thought possible. There was a goat standing in the hallway biting into the cables lining the wall. I stood there starring it, while the goat seemingly noticed me and looked up. It starred into my eyes continuing to munch on the cables in its mouth.
"Que diable?!"
I starred at the goat for a couple of minutes, when it decided to turn and leave, waking me out of my stupor. I looked around and walked back to the corridor to see if anybody was there, but the corridors were empty.
I questioned myself if I was just hallucinating, but I turned back towards the direction the goat left in, just in case and started sprinting after it.
I really didn't want someone to die because a goat ate through an important cable.
Athena pov
"It's a dud again? How many does that make now?" I asked.
"Five, but we'll keep trying. The sectors pretty big so we'll continue searching How are the other teams looking?"
"Not much better, we haven't found any veins large enough to mine directly. I hope we have at least something by the time Mathias gets back."
"We're about to pass the communication line, so I'm going to hang up now. We'll be back in 4 hours."
"Understood I'll start the timer. Be careful out there, we don't need any accidents out there right now."
"Of course, see you later. Base-Runner-05 out."
I leaned back into my chair and put my arm over my face as I sighed.
It was frustrating how little we achieved. I knew that it was only a few days, but I'd hoped we would have been further along by now.
I took of my shoes and brought my knees towards my body, holding them with my arms. I looked over the different screens in the room as they projected base systems and orbital paths.
I looked over the room, seeing the empty chairs everywhere. It used to be so busy here, with the usual missions canceled and most of the command crew leaving the room had become quieter. It felt darker and colder.
I awoke with a start as I heard the doors open.
Looking to the side I saw Daniel coming into the room, "Oh, sorry I didn't mean to startle you. Wait, were you sleeping here again?"
He looked at me, the disappointment clear on his face.
"Ehm, no…?" I answered while turning away.
He sighed audibly before coming up towards me, "Well, what did I miss?"
"Not much, we still haven't found any good locations for the drills. Otherwise, nothing happened. Oh, and Dr. Grey has prescribed mandatory therapy for everyone."
"Okay, when did this happen?"
"Well, she kind of cornered me while I was walking down a corridor."
"Ah yes, that explains it. Guess we'll need to write up a notification for everyone."
"Dr. Grey already sent a general notice out, it just seems like not a lot of people are reading their emails right now…"
"Most people probably don't want to see an empty mailbox right now."
Our conversation was interrupted by a weird noise. Looking back towards the door we saw something that definitely shouldn't be there.
"Hey, Daniel?"
"Yes."
"Am I hallucinating because I haven't slept enough?"
"Normally I would say yes, but this time I'm not so sure."
"So, you're also see a goat walking through the room."
"Yep."
"Okay."
We both followed the goat with our heads as it made its way across the room. It looked around for a bit before continuing to the other side of the room and leaving through the door opposite to where it entered.
We stayed in place slack jawed.
Until Daniel finally broke the silence, "Should we like, call base security?"
"I have no idea…" I answered.
Suddenly Camille came running through the door panting, "Hey, cough, hey you guys. You didn't just see a goat come through here, did you?"
Daniel and I looked at each other, before pointing towards the other door through which the goat just left.
"Thanks, could one of you find out where that thing came from?"
"Sure." I replied, though I wasn't sure if she heard me as Camille was already past us and out of the doorway.
Daniel came down towards speaking low as if Camille could still hear us, "Do you have any idea where that thing could have come from?"
I shrugged, "Nope."
