2023.06.11 00:11 ThatOneRoadie /r/irc will be going dark beginning June 12th in protest of reddit's exorbitant API price changes.
TL;DR:
For those of you not following along, here’s a post from the amazing mod team at askhistorians explaining the context.
What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
And, on a personal note, the AMA yesterday was nothing short of a shitshow, and I personally agree with all points in the
open response on /ModCoord.
What's the plan?
On June 12th,
many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action. What can you do as a user?
- Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join the coordinated mod effort at /ModCoord.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.
What can you do as a moderator?
Thank you for your patience in the matter, -The /irc Mod Team submitted by

2023.06.11 00:11 Lordofthe305 CPWA Deception
| The show opens with a moment of silence and a ten-bell salute for The late Iron Sheik. The Iron Sheik 1942-2023 https://preview.redd.it/g1ebnfn9y75b1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e961d66521de1670340c07a9b54037e25452a79 We open with a video package highlighting Shelton Jordan winning the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones scheming to regain the gold. We then see highlights of Keith Yang's matches and the return of Logan Lemming. We are then shown highlights of the Super Junior Carnival tournament, more specifically, Rory Irvine and "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon's path to the finals. The video package ends with slowed-down clips of Keith Yang, Logan Lemming, LeJuan Jones, and Shelton Jordan, who raises the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship over his head. Sticky Fingaz's "Man Up" plays in the arena as we see pyro go off for a few seconds, followed by cheering from the crowd. Brian Kinsley: We welcome to CPWA Annihilation! We are coming to you live from Calgary, Alberta, Canada! Brian Kinsley along with Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, we have an action-packed pay-per-view that includes six championship matches, including the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as Shelton Jordan defends his title against Keith Yang, Logan Lemming, and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones. Anthony Harris: Plus, we have the finals of the Super Junior Carnival tournament. I can't wait for that to go down. Sir Samuel Stewart: It's definitely going to be a thriller of an event, and I think we may see some new champions. Brian Kinsley: Let's get right to the action. We cut to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL! Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Olympians, the team of Chip Day, Miles Orozco, and Devon Gatlin-Tyson. Brian Kinsley: Devon Gatlin-Tyson looked like a would-be favorite to win the Super Junior Carnival tournament, but came up short against "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon in the semifinals. Anthony Harris: Give Chip Day and Miles Orozco credit for helping DGT with those victories up to that point. I still believe he's going to be CPWA Cruiserweight Champion one day. 80s Synth Track Nightscapes plays in the arena. Announcer: And their opponents, introducing first, from Los Angeles, the team of Mark Starr and Ricky Vice, StarrVice! Brian Kinsley: Mark Starr and Ricky Vice competed in the Super Junior Carnival tournament, but it would be Ricky Vice who would face Devon Gatlin-Tyson in the quarterfinals and would lose thanks to the interference of the aforementioned Chip Day and Miles Orozco. Sir Samuel Stewart: It really hurt Ricky's chances, but he wasn't the only one affected by The Olympians' number game. M.O.P.'s "Fly N***a Hill F***a" plays in the arena. Announcer: Their tag team partner, from Brooklyn, New York, he is one-half of the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, "The Hi-Fli Kid," Jerome Evans. Brian Kinsley: "The Hi-Fli Kid" took on Devon Gatlin-Tyson in the first round of the Super Junior Carnival tournament and while it was a tremendous match, it would be soured by the interference of Day and Orozco. Anthony Harris: Best believe all three competitors want some payback on Chip, Orozco, and DGT. Don't get it twisted, however, StarrVice may be teaming up with "The Hi-Fli Kid," but they also got their eyes on regaining the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships. Match 1: The Olympians (Chip Day, Miles Orozco, and Devon Gatlin-Tyson) vs. StarrVice (Mark Starr and Ricky Vice) and "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans You would think that an opening match like this one would get the crowd hyped for the rest of the event, but it felt underwhelming at times. While the story here was StarrVice and "The Hi-Fli Kid" looking to get a measure of revenge on Chip Day and Miles Orozco, neither competitor was looking sharp in the ring. Devon Gatlin-Tyson carried much of the match for his team, which was the only highlight for the Olympians. The action then became a spotfest, leading toward the end of the match, where DGT nailed Mark Starr with a Split-Second DDT to get the win for his team. 2 out of 5 stars. We cut to backstage and we see Kevin Meyers interviewing CPWA World Heavyweight Champion Shelton Jordan. Shelton says that he's tired of LeJuan Jones's mind games and wants to put him away for good. He also says that he welcomes a challenge from Logan Lemming and Keith Yang, both of whom he will also defeat tonight. We return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Television Championship. Nu Breed's "Florida" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, accompanied by his alligator Sunshine, from the Sunshine State, he is the CPWA Television Champion, "Florida Man" Gary Strange Brian Kinsley: The last time "Florida Man" Gary Strange held an open challenge for the CPWA Television Championship, he lost to The Mortician. Sir Samuel Stewart: Only for him to regain it back a few days ago on Octane. Anthony Harris: No thanks to Pretty Boy, who will defend the CPWA Hardcore Championship against The Mortician later on tonight. Gary Strange enters the ring and takes the mic as Nu Breed's "Florida" stops playing. Gary Strange: Well well well, Florida Man holds CPWA gold once again and looking to take on any challengers brave enough to challenge me. Come on, don't be shy. I'm ready for ya. Yoshida Brothers' "Storm" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Kagoshima, Japan, he is Kenshiro Ishii. Brian Kinsley: We haven't seen Kenshiro Ishii since High$takes and he looks more than ready to bring the fight. Anthony Harris: Brotha looks jacked and he knows he means business. Tego Calderon's "Mil Cosas" plays in the arena Announcer: Finally, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, he is Ramon Vega! Brian Kinsley: The last time we saw Ramon Vega, was back in January when he was teaming up with his brother Raymundo. Sir Samuel Stewart: He took some time off to compete in his native Puerto Rico, but now he's back and looking to win some gold. Match 2: CPWA Television Championship: "Florida Man" Gary Strange vs. Kenshiro Ishii vs. Ramon Vega A solid yet rough-around-the-edges kind of match. There was lots of brawling from all three competitors, along with some technical wrestling from Ramon. It looked like Ramon Vega was close to winning the CPWA Television Championship, but "Florida Man" managed to prevent the three count from occurring. Gary Strange continued fighting back, leading to him hitting a WTF (Welcome To Florida) on Vega to get the three count and to retain the CPWA Television Championship. 3 out of 5 stars We cut to the locker room area and we see "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones discussing strategy with Brother Julius about how to deal with Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, and possibly Logan Lemming. Brother Julius tells LeJuan to focus more on his match and that he will deal with the other competitors tonight. LeJuan nods and Brother Julius sets out to put his plans in motion. We return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. Johann Sebastian Bach's Air on G String plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from the posh hills of the Hamptons, she is Priscilla Pierce. Brian Kinsley: Priscilla Pierce won big a few days ago on Octane in tag team action with help from "The Dominican She-Devil," Ivy Fernandez. Sir Samuel Stewart: Priscilla Pierce looks to be on the fast track to challenging for the CPWA Women's International Championship. DaniLeigh Ft. Fivio Foreign "Dominican Mami" plays in the arena. Announcer: And her tag team partner, from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she is "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez Brian Kinsley: "The Dominican She-Devil" may have won gold in Puerto Rico, but word has it that she may challenge for the CPWA Women's Championship. Sir Samuel Stewart: It could be a possibility, but let's see what happens. GACKT's "Redemption" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, from Osaka, Japan, she is the CPWA Women's International Champion, Shiori Yoshimura. Brian Kinsley: Shiori Yoshimura gained a victory over Priscilla Pierce two weeks ago on Octane, but lost in tag team action a few days ago. She's looking to get a measure of revenge. Anthony Harris: Shiori's going to be a fighting champion for CPWA, and I know she's got to be fuming after that loss. Estrada de Estrela plays in the arena Announcer: Her tag team partner, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, she is the CPWA Women's Champion, Cristina Moreira. Brian Kinsley: Cristina Moreira has been kept busy ever since winning the CPWA Women's Championship. She's been on a media whirlwind in her native Brazil, promoting CPWA. Anthony Harris: I would love to do a show in Brazil. To all our Brazilian fans out there, CPWA sees you! Match 3: Shiori Yoshimura and Cristina Moreira vs. Priscilla Pierce and "The Dominican She-Devil" Ivy Fernandez Another solid match that saw some technical wrestling on display. While Cristina, Priscilla, and "The Dominican She-Devil" appear to be improving with their technical wrestling skills, Shiori was leagues ahead of them. Shiori controlled much of the match, even going as far as to utilize some power attacks. The match ended with Shiori hitting a Spinning Bison Bomb on Priscilla to get the win. 3 out of 5 stars. We cut to backstage and we see Kimberly Reynolds interviewing Rory Irvine. Rory says that nobody believed in him when he decided to enter the Super Junior Carnival tournament and that he could go all the way. Rory says that he's made believers out of those who have followed his journey through the tournament and knows that he is going to become the inaugural Super Junior Carnival Tournament winner and challenge for the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship. We return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit. Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Commonwealth, the team of Owen Benoit-Jericho and the CPWA Cruiserweight Champion Kelly Lawton! Brian Kinsley: Both Owen Benoit-Jericho and Kelly Lawton entered the Super Junior Carnival tournament and while OBJ managed to go further than Lawton, neither one was able to reach the grand finals. Sir Samuel Stewart: I know Kelly Lawton has to be feeling some of type way about that loss. Let's hope he can redeem himself should Rory Irvine win the whole thing. Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena. Announcer: And their opponents, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the team of Steve and Adam, the Odenkirks! Brian Kinsley: Much like OBJ and Lawton, Steve and Adam Odenkirk also competed in the Super Junior Carnival tournament. Steve managed to reach the quarterfinals, while younger brother Adam lost in the first round. Anthony Harris: The Odenkirk brothers look like they got something to prove and they're not looking to hold back anything. Match 4: The Commonwealth (Kelly Lawton and Owen Benoit-Jericho) vs. The Odenkirks (Steve and Adam Odenkirk) A solid tag team match that had a little something of everything: Technical wrestling, brawling, MMA, and high-flying. It was an evenly fought match until the Commonwealth uses underhanded tactics to keep the advantage in their favor, isolating Adam from Steve. Anytime Adam would tag in Steve, the referee did not see it. Eventually, Steve got the tag and was a house of fire, knocking down Lawton and OBJ. Steve looked to have the match won with a 450 Splash but "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams interfered on behalf of the Commonwealth, pushing Steve off the top rope. This allowed Lawton to hit the Outback Cutter on Steve to get the win for his team. 4 out of 5 stars. We get a one-minute video package hyping up Pretty Boy and his path of destruction. The hype package ends and we return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Hardcore Championship. An organ cover to Runaway Casket plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Resting Peace Funeral Home, he is The Mortician! Brian Kinsley: The Mortician lost the CPWA Television Championship, thanks to Pretty Boy, who maniacally beat the living daylights out of him. Sir Samuel Stewart: The Mortician knows what it takes to win the CPWA Hardcore Championship, but against Pretty Boy, I don't know. The arena lights go out and we hear an ominous female voice. Ominous Female Voice: Pretty Boy...oh Pretty Boy...punish...them...all! Glitter Wasteland's "Cold War (Nightcrawler Remix)" plays in the arena as blue and red lighting fill the arena. Announcer: And his opponent, he is the CPWA Hardcore Champion Pretty Boy! Brian Kinsley: Pretty Boy has been on a rampage since winning the CPWA Hardcore Championship, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon. Anthony Harris: That man is cold-hearted. I don't think I've ever seen him blink once. Match 5: CPWA Hardcore Championship: Pretty Boy (c) vs. The Mortician If you wanted a balls-to-the-wall, knock-down, drag-out hardcore match, this one was it! The Mortician and Pretty Boy wasted no time beating the living hell out of each other, but Pretty Boy gained the upper hand. Pretty Boy threw the Mortician around like a rag doll at times, followed by beating him with clotheslines and rainmakers. The Mortician started to fight back, using steel chairs, lead pipes, and even the ring bell on Pretty Boy. The Mortician looked to have made some dents in Pretty Boy, causing him to bleed, but it only made Pretty Boy aggressive as he battered the Mortician, leading to a chokeslam and Tombstone Piledriver for the win. 4 out of 5 stars. After the match, Pretty Boy continued beating the Mortician. Suddenly, Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" (Elliot Loud version) plays in the arena Brian Kinsley: IT'S MANGOD!!! Mangod rushed the ring and started beating up Pretty Boy, causing him to flee. Mangod then headbutts the turnbuckles as the crowd cheers wildly. Mangod helps the Mortician to his feet, raising his hand to the crowd's approval. ***Intermission*** We cut back from intermission and we see Brother Julius walking down a hallway. He stops when Monroe Storm approaches him. Monroe tells Brother Julius that Logan Lemming has his sights on the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as well and will stop at nothing to get it. Brother Julius warns Monroe that Logan better not cross "The Number One Pick" or he knows what's good for him. Monroe scoffs and walks away. Brother Julius shakes his head and does the same. we return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA International Championship. The Wellerman plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Commonwealth, from Auckland, New Zealand, Jason Black Brian Kinsley: We haven't seen Jason Black in a long time, and that's because he's been touring between Japan and his native New Zealand. Sir Samuel Stewart: The Kiwi looks like he's poised to bring home some gold to The Commonwealth. The March of Death theme plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, from Guadalajara, Mexico, this is El Colibri Brian Kinsley: El Colibri was one of the favorites to win the Super Junior Carnival, but it wasn't meant to be as he lost in the first round to "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon. Anthony Harris: It was quite a shock, but let's see if he can rebound and get back to his winning ways. Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's "The Creator" plays in the arena. Announcer: Finally, from Miami, Florida, he is the CPWA International Champion, Deron "Ron" Jordan. Brian Kinsley: Deron "Ron" Jordan has been helping his brothers in their feud against "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, but here, he's looking to defend his CPWA International Championship. Anthony Harris: Let's hope he can retain it to keep more gold in the family. Match 6: CPWA International Championship: Deron "Ron" Jordan (c) vs. Jason Black vs. El Colibri This match wasn't good, but it certainly wasn't bad either. It was all over the place at times as there were some brawling mixed with some high-flying from Ron and El Colibri. Jason Black had control of the match, beating down El Colibri, but Ron prevented any chance of a three-count from happening. Both Ron and El Colibri double-teamed Jason Black, but they would turn their attention to attacking each other. El Colibri had Ron in the La Mistica, but Jason Black broke the hold. With Ron out of the way, this allowed Jason to hit the Blackout on El Colibri for the win and become the new CPWA International Champion. 2 out of 5 stars. We get a one-minute video package hyping up The Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy) and their dominance over the Women's Tag Team Division. The hype package ends and we return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championships. "Hitman" plays in the arena Announcer: And their opponents, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, they are the team of Crystal and Tracy, the Hart Sisters. Brian Kinsley: We are in Canada, and the Hart Sisters are getting a huge ovation. Sir Samuel Stewart: The Hart Sisters look to win big here tonight, and I have a feeling that they will. Eminem's "Venom" plays in the arena. Announcer: And their opponents, they are the CPWA Women's Tag Team Champions, Carnage Ayano and La Venena. Brian Kinsley: Carnage Ayano and La Venena are a dangerous combination of Japanese Strong Style wrestling and Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling. Anthony Harris: These ladies are psychotic in the ring. I've seen their matches in Japan and Mexico, so I know what they can do. Match 7: CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship: La Venena and Carnage Ayano (c) vs. The Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy) A somewhat decent match that had some great moments but at times, it was a botchfest, which was unusual for both teams. The Hart Sisters had control of the match, but Venena and Ayano started making a comeback. Crystal Hart managed to win the match for her team, placing Ayano in a sharpshooter to give her team victory and regain the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship. 2 out of 5 stars. We cut to backstage and we see Kevin Meyers interviewing Keith Yang on his title match. Keith says that he hopes that the third time is the charm and that he will become the new CPWA World Heavyweight Champion. We return back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship. GACKT's "Redemption" plays in the arena Announcer: Introducing first, from Osaka, Japan, the team of Ryota and Daigo Yoshimura Blake Shelton's "Good Ole Boys" plays in the arena. Announcer: Next, from the great state of Tennessee, Roy and Zechariah, the Newton Boys. Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena. Announcer: Finally, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they are the CPWA Tag Team Champions, William and Jake, the Odenkirks! Match 8: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship: The Odenkirks (William and Jake) (c) vs. Ryota and Daigo Yoshimura vs. The Newton Boys (Roy and Zechariah) This was a chaotic match with tons of high spots and lots of brawling. At one point in the match, Jake Odenkirk and Zechariah Newton climbed atop the ladder and beat each other with forearms and fists, leading to both men crashing through a table. This was followed up by a 450 Frog Splash combo from Daigo Yoshimura. Roy Newton saw an opportunity to reach for the gold, only for Ryota Yoshimura to powerbomb him off the ladder and onto some chairs. Unbeknownst to Ryota, William climbed atop the ladder and retrieved the CPWA Tag Team Championships. 2 out of 5 stars. We get a three-minute hype package about the Super Junior Carnival tournament, along with highlights featuring Rory Irvine and "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon. The hype package ends with clips of Rory Irvine and Han Sang-Hoon staring at each other. We cut back to the ring. Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is the grand finals of the CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament. The O'Reillys and Paddyhats' "Barrels of Whiskey" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Dublin, Ireland, he is Rory Irvine. Brian Kinsley: If you were to tell anyone that a young, plucky, yet scrappy wrestler from the Emerald Isle would find himself in the grand finals of the Super Junior Carnival Tournament, after going through numerous trials and battles, no one would've believed it, but here we are. Sir Samuel Stewart: Young Rory Irvine has been waiting for such an opportunity and he's going to make the best of it. Rain's "It's Raining" begins to play in the arena Announcer: And his opponent, from Seoul, South Korea, he is one half of the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon! Brian Kinsley: "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon blazed a path of his own throughout the Super Junior Carnival Tournament, defeating the likes of El Colibri, Steve Odenkirk, and Devon Gatlin-Tyson. Could he win it all? Anthony Harris: He may, but also keep in mind that he's also CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champion with "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans. How will that all turnout? Match 9: CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament: Finals: Rory Irvine vs. "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon This match was the highlight of the event and the best match overall. Rory had the early advantage, but "The Korean Idol" came fighting back. Rory hit the Celtic Crucifix Drop on Han, only to get a 2 count. Rory look to put the match away but Kelly Lawton, Owen Benoit-Jericho, and Mary Addams provided distractions toward the referee and jumped Rory. Han would get himself involved, chasing off Lawton, Addams, and OBJ, only to be met with a superkick from Chip Day and Miles Orozco, plus a split-second DDT from Devon Gatlin-Tyson. "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans, along with StarrVice rushed to the ring and fought The Olympians. It was complete chaos as everyone began fighting on the outside. Rory went for the Celtic Crucifix Drop, only for Han to reverse it into a falcon arrow, leading to the K-Pop Drop for the victory becoming the inaugural CPWA Super Junior Carnival Tournament winner. 4 out of 5 stars. After the match, Han Sang-Hoon extended his hand to Rory for a handshake. Rory accepted the handshake as both competitors celebrated together. Although Han won the tournament, the crowd cheered loudly for Rory, chanting his name. We get a four-minute hype package featuring Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, Logan Lemming, and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones. The hype package ends and we return back to the ring. Announcer: Our main event is scheduled for... Crowd: ONE FALL!!! Announcer: And it is for the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship. Bambu's "Chairman Mao" plays in the arena. Announcer: Introducing first, from Shanghai, China, he is Keith Yang. Brian Kinsley: IT'S YANG TIME!!! Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price's "I'm Better Than You" plays in the arena. Announcer: And their opponents, introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Brother Julius, from Columbus, Ohio, "The Number One Pick," LeJuan Jones. Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil" plays in the arena. Announcer: His tag team partner, accompanied to the ring by Monroe Storm, from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, he is Logan Lemming. The Roots' "Do You Want More" plays in the arena. Announcer: And their opponents, introducing first, representing The Jordan family, from Miami, Florida, he is the CPWA World Heavyweight Champion, Shelton Jordan. Match 10: CPWA World Heavyweight Championship: Shelton Jordan (c) vs. Keith Yang vs. "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones vs. Logan Lemming There was lots of action going on in this fatal four-way. Everyone seemed evenly matched at first, but Logan Lemming took control of the match, suplexing anyone that got in his way. Not to be outdone, Shelton Jordan performed several Exploder Suplexes on each of his opponents. Although Keith Yang got in some offense, he would be taken out by Ivan Markov. This allowed Logan Lemming and LeJuan to double-team Shelton Jordan. It looked like the double team was working, but both competitors weren't going to allow the other to get the pin. This led to Logan and LeJuan fighting each other. Logan was about to hit LeJuan with Logan's Run, but the Soldiers of Misfortune (General Wade and Guerrilla God) prevented that from happening, saving LeJuan from any harm. The Soldiers of Misfortune double power-bombed Logan and then Shelton, leading to LeJuan to hit a Game Winner on both Logan and Shelton to get the win and regain the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship. 4 out of 5 stars. LeJuan Jones is presented with the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as the pyro goes off and the crowd jeers and boos. LeJuan Jones and Brother Julius celebrate as Deception fades to black. 2023.06.11 00:09 Slacker_87 I Totally Have A Son And His Deck is Totally a 7
Greetings fellow Magic: the Gathering enjoyers, you'll never believe this.
As I was trekking through the American desert, no wares to my name except the shirt on my back and of course my 7/10 casual EDH deck. Oh right, I forgot, I also had a child, a 12 year old, who's quite timid and well mannered, and is also my son for I am his father. ̶M̶y̶ our throats were dry and my horse was exhausted. I thought I was done for, when gasp I saw it — an LGS! I was saved!
Now, well, you see, this particular fine establishment had three — shall we say, "tiers" — for the purposes of EDH merrriment, which are as follows: casual, mid, and competitive. I of course choose mid — well, I was playing [/[[/[[/[Kaalia of the Vast]]/]]/]] after all — no wait, it was my son, the youngster, the mild-mannered prodigy, who chose mid. I instead wisely opt for the casual group, as I'd just thrown together cards for a half-baked deck concept (it hadn't time to rise before I was to escape from Egypt). The boy, my son, the proof of my non-virginity, sits down with three other fellows. One among them turns out to be a bit of a ruffian, for he says, "AJR sucks." My son, a minor of just 12 years of age, mind you, is positively obsessed with AJR, which his clothes signify. The brute rudely continues, "they're just way too poppy." My child, a son, born to my lady and I 12 years ago, pays him no attention. However I seethe with rage at this comment, distracting me from my aforementioned matzah deck.
As the table shuffles up their decks, I hear the scoundrel utter "they shouldn't pair adults with kids. They should get their own table. Kids are stupid lmao." My son is twelve, and genuinely the most well-mannered kid there has ever been. Additionally, he's a bit timid, and as such he remains quiet. The hooligan, who quite resembles the shape and stench of an anus, has declared himself the one to take first go — wielding his Koma deck, no less, as most anuses are fond of I've found. I would know this fact of course, as my own anus favors his Koma deck on Wednesday night commander back at the homestead LGS.
"Turn one, Forest, Sol Ring, pass."
My child, offspring... I'm just going to transition to calling him D. Little D, in fact... no, that's not quite right... Big D it is then... no that isn't appropriate really... I know — mid D — mid D plays his triome and passes. The other two fellows get off to quote productive starts. Everyone is engaging in the customary undisrupted mana ramp, excepting for the troublemaker, who it seems kept a one-lander. He begrudgingly passes. Mid D drops either a Talisman or a signet, or another such 2-mana mana-rock, couldn't say which exactly I'm afraid. Turn 3, Omnath enters the fray and Bruvac mills away Mid D's ()/({})\Avacyn, Angel of Hope/()({})/ much to his dismay. He drops another rock instead of opting to play Kaalia, his commander, the general of his deck, in this format which is EDH. The anus-man hasn't drawn another land and is becoming visibly perturbed.
Turn 4, the mill player is building up quite well, Omnom is pooping out children nonstop, and yet the arse has still not drawn his land and he declares that, "This is stupid. I run 41 lands in this deck." D gets to his turn during which he got his greaves. He drops the greaves... No responses. He plays the Kaalia... No responses. He equips the Kaalia. Do... Do these people not know what Kaalia does? Attack phase it is, I guess. Mid D has one more trick up his sleeve though, and that comes in the form of a sneaky <><>uWu<>[[Master of Cruelties]]<>uWu<><>. Mid D has three choices here, all of which are effectively choices, decisions if you will, that he can choose from. The world is his oyster. Of course, he could send for the fellow who cost him his beloved Avacyn. Hell, maybe the one pooping out children? Certainly not the anus, sitting on one paltry forest and a rock that he apparently can't use, despite it being extremely powerful, and quite honestly being a card that shouldn't belong at a mid-table anyway.
Well, this story wouldn't be worth telling if he had elected to punch Bruvac in the nether region, the plums, the jewels, the pecker, the dick, even, if you will. He decided payback was on the menu today, and placed his order. He attacked the excrement-smelling nitwit and laid down his Master of Cruelties in perhaps the most passive manner imaginable, for he was quite timid. The poopyhead had begun the night by stating he reckoned he had the best deck, and was beginning to fear relegation to the Premier League. He begins by saying "you could take out one of the people who have actually attacked you and are actually a threat." This quickly transitioned to, "I haven't even gotten to start playing my deck yet. You should pick one of them instead." To, "please. Can I see if my next card is a land and if so can you choose someone else? I'll target you last." to, "this is stupid. You don't even know how to play the game, and kids are stupid. You're going to lose because of this play. Why were any of us born in the first place? Wouldn't we be better off if none of us had ever seen the light of day?"
Mid D, neither Big D nor Small D, my offspring, the product of my seed, the 12 year old, who was quite timid and well mannered, to whom I am father, the entire time, was saying, "I already declared my attacks." Afterwards, the bastard, the dault, the one who smelled like and resembled a puckered anus, exclaimed, "fine, whatever!" and started packing up his wares. Mid D replied, "It says in the Magic rulebook to be respectful to other players and I like playing by the rules. Gottem."
I don't know if it was just the humanity of it all, or the fact that it definitely really happened, or the fact that he had just gotten intellectually devastated by a child, a juvenile, who was probably only 12, but you could see this fool go through the seven stages of grief as though he'd just received news of his dear mother's death, right before your eyes over this little exchange and he immediately started stumbling backward in terror until he dramatically fell, gasped and quickly ran out.
I just think that Mid D, my son, the one who calls me daddy — besides his mother — the child, the babe, was the real winner that night... not because he won the game, but because, well, indeed, of course, you know.

2023.06.11 00:09 AfroAdorable A sad painting.
| my thearpist us liking what painting is doing for me, she liked the contrast in colors that I did my first time and she told me to keep at it and I did. I have been really sad, fighting growing anixety of leaving my house and really missing my son and the life I had when he was alive. nothing was falling apart as bad when he was alive.. so I showed my partner and he cried and my thearpist needed a moment after showing her this. So my partner calls it the sad painting. submitted by AfroAdorable to painting [link] [comments] |
2023.06.11 00:09 encrsrp type me post!! pls help :(
(i got tired of answering at some point and i think you can notice that, so sorry if my tone suddenly changes shsk, i didn’t answer in order so the ones written clearly more hastily are the ones i wrote after have got tired lol)
I tried to type myself multiple times but i always reconsider it… so i’ll try to answer the questions and drop some test results i got :) + english isn’t my native language so im sorry for eventual mistakes in my writing!!
• How old are you? What's your gender? Give us a general description of yourself.
I’m 21 and i’m a female (trying to better understand if a feel comfortable identifying myself as genderfluid/bigender), i’m neurodivergent (adhd+autism+giftedness) and that has often made difficult to type myself. I’m really energetic and i like doing stuff, in the meaning that i hate stay sitting still and i always need stimuli both it is mental or physical. Even when i am w others, i need to do things w them, not just talk about things, unless we talk about smth i really like (which are usually relate to things I’ve to explain somehow) , but still i prefer do it while doing smth like drawing or walking. ‘Bout that I can say I really like doing activities w people especially when I am in charge, meaning that I like to decide what to do and so I usually prefer the company of ppl who are more kinda followers (but I won’t, for eg, chose an activity if I know the person I’m with doesn’t like it or doesn’t wanna do it, I’d probably try to convince them somehow - I also could be manipulative sometimes- but I’d still respect their decision at the end, I could be upset by that tho, it depends on how much I wanted to do that activity and the reason behind the “no”, but I’d not show it and try to be the more comprensive I can be, it really depends on the situation and the person tho. Also if it can counts to better understand my type, I didn’t like this question lol, bc its so general “general description of yourself”, in which sense help, what is ‘general’ abt a person to you, I’d end up writing everything just in this answer (that’s why I’m gonna stop myself here btw).
• Is there a medical diagnosis that may impact your mental stability somehow? A part for being neurodivergent i struggled in my teen years with some ‘issues’ and even if i’ve never had a diagnosis (except for an ed’s one) i’m pretty sure i went through some pathological behaviour (therapists have mentioned histrionic behaviour at first and then covert narcissistic one), now i’m feeling so much better but i think that period had a big impact on my personality and behaviour causing me to be more insecure abt other opinions (which wasn’t a real worry before, not that much) and to be afraid of being a bad person or coming back to the person i was at the time.
• Describe your upbringing. Did it have any kind of religious or structured influence? How did you respond to it? I grew up basically by myself, considering that my parents have always been very neglective and distant to me and my needs, they’ve always done the minimum til i became able to do thing on my own (eg. they cooked for me til i went grown enough to do it by myself - i was 12 - and never done that again), so i’ve always been really independent and this helped me being really open-minded but also made me difficult to develope opinions/judgment, cause i haven’t had any type of influence, i started to cope this by reading and attach to fictional characters, that are still now the ones who help me grow a more coherent personality ig, if it makes sense, also by analysing their psychology as i said and understand them i’m able to explain what i think and also better understand myself and others. Basically I could say I’m very opinionated, but especially now that I fear being offensive/bad person, I tend to keep all to myself also bc I’m scared of seem incoherent since if I hear or read different perspectives abt smth which I’ve already an opinion of I can completely change my view, even if I would’ve defend that opinion w my life, which makes me feel so ashamed somehow either bc even if I hide it I hate losing arguments or being wrong in general (if this happens during an argument - I can’t help but would do anything to win it-) and bc as I said I don’t wanna ppl say /think I’m incoherent or whatever.
• What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? I work in a supermarket atm and my occupation is to supply the markets shelves with products, i really like it cause it keeps me active and also i have to organise things, which i love (much more if it’s a practical type of organisation, I like organise and categorise objects, things I can see and touch, not ideas, If I have to deal w them I need to write them down or visualise them somehow to have the same satisfaction). Tho, in september i’ll start a performative arts academy (singing, acting and dancing), performative arts are one of the things i love more in the world, i never get bored while practicing them (i HATE boredom). Here I think it’s worth to say that my favourite type of dance is ballet bc I have to keep my body in control, it’s impossible to explain how good I feel when I do that, pay attention to every part of my body and feel the sensation of control. + I think it’s also important to say that i usually learn by seeing, in general i prefer seeing videos ora images, or even better doing what i’m learning, but i noticed that if i just watch someone dance (for eg) w/out thinking to much about it or focus to much, it’s like my brain registers it and then it’s able to do it three thousand time better then if i would’ve tried to get every particular and overthink abt everything i have to do. While abt acting i feel really comfortable in fakes emotions or situations, i feel A LOT but i don’t like to talk abt my feelings in general ig ?? I tend to bottle everything up, especially negatives emotions and never show them, but when im acting it’s a total different things (maybe bc i know they’re not my own feelings yk, and even if i relate ppl don’t know i relate lol), in this way im also really good at manipulate my own brain in believe what i have to feel and how to act, i’m so good at being manipulative -either w myself and others- even if i try to not do so w ppl (some times i just cant help it tho -I understand when it’s to much and I’ll never doit if i know it can harm in any way), when i was little i used to do it more.
• If you had to spend an entire weekend by yourself, how would you feel? Would you feel lonely or refreshed? I don’t mind being alone, but i surely prefer company, even if we’ve to stay in silence i prefer someone w me, i only like being alone when i need to do smth that need my completely focus (like working ,study etc -when I’m really focused none should dare interrupt me fr). But in general i really feel refreshed and full of life after have spent time w ppl I care of or have done activities in general. Spend to much time alone w/out doing nothing has me kinda depressed and i always need to start doing smth after a while.
• What kinds of activities do you prefer? Do you like, and are you good at sports? Do you enjoy any other outdoor or indoor activities? As i said i love dancing and acting, i like sports (skii and tennis especially), when i was little i used to avoid them tho cause i was afraid to not be able to play well and being made fun of, also I’m very competitive and even if i hide the frustration of losing, it’s really smth that give me nuts. I also love crosswords and sudoku, resolve maths and logical problems or puzzle (i’m really good with problem solving btw, I love solving things and I get so mad when I can’t), board games (my favourite is twister!!), reading (more when i was little, now it depends on if i get attached to the characters) and watching tv series. I also like some videogames like Super Mario’s games or The sims (i’ve always struggled in reading instructions/doing tutorials, i tend to learn while playing since forever and that’s why i avoid games that have a lot of options and instructions) but it’s not my favourite thing, and i find pleasure in drawing and writing too.
• Would you enjoy taking on a leadership position? Do you think you would be good at it? What would your leadership style be? I think leadership really is my thing, but I’ve a past, already from childhood, made of criticism and ‘have been made fun of’ (my parents first of all) so I tend to avoid it unless I’m sure I’ll be successful and nobody will tell me anything abt my leadership. My style would probably be based on efficiency and have results that are admirable in any sense they could be, idk if its make sense, my brain is melting after writing sm lol, I’d be nice and comprensive as much as I could but depending on what happens, tempistics, etc… I could be really harsh and easily lose temper (only in certain situations tho, I’m trying to say that is an effort I’ve learn to put, to be patient, so it hasn’t always come so natural to me).
• Are you coordinated? Why do you feel as if you are or are not? Do you enjoy working with your hands in some form? Describe your activity? As I said I love doing practical things, I love use my hands and I’m really good in handmade stuff. My mom always calls to do those kinda things at home for eg. I’m really coordinated, sometimes I literally get surprised of my reflexes and how much coordinate I can be.
• Are you artistic? If yes, describe your art? If you are not particular artistic but can appreciate art please likewise describe what forums of art you enjoy. Please explain your answer. I love art, may favourite types of art is the one who involve moving your whole body tho, so dance and acting like I said, bc, like, I love writing and drawing too, but they’re more of a sitting still type of art, so I surely love them but I love dancing and acting more. I like less to watch art, there are lotta paintings I like but its not this big deal, while theatres’ plays for eg are more exciting to me. (Adding that art can be literally everything not only those things but nevermind).
• What's your opinion about the past, present, and future? How do you deal with them? I don’t think a lot abt the past honestly, I’m actually a person who move on really fast (I can hold grudges in this sense but this is more abt how I feel abt certain ppl not situations). I like look at the future even if it scares me a bit, but I also love being in the present, I’m usually a person who set goal after goal but especially lately I’m enjoying more being in the present, I mean if I’ve to do a ranking it’d be: present, future, past asjsja.
• How do you act when others request your help to do something (anything)? If you would decide to help them, why would you do so? I’m really prone to help others even if sometimes it stress me out and I’ll prefer doing something else, but I do it anyway and I usually that person who try to find solutions that will work and have a result or at least touch a point. But I’m also really goos at empathise, I usually read ppl really well, so I come out as really understanding and in touch w others feelings, adding that I literally neve judge, unless i’m stressed and feel the need to take on someone (I feel guilty when it happens yes but I really can’t help it), ppl often say they feel safe came to me for help or even just vent (I recently learn that some ppl don’t wanna solutions but just need to be listened, so sometimes I just say “is there anything I can do to help you” “I’m sorry you feel this way” and stuff cause apparently otherwise it’s called toxic positivity (?? I don’t remember) and yk that fear abt being a bad person I mentioned? Right, but my thing is pretty much try to solve the problem after have listened the person I’m talking to.
• Do you need logical consistency in your life? I’ve a problem understanding the meaning of logic as a way to valuate situations or whatever mbti theory mean by that, I mean, it’s like “making sense” right? Cause every time I read abt mbti there is logic and moral and honestly I can’t tell the difference bc it literally depends by situations?? Or maybe I’m just stupid and got nothing, but what is logical consistency, bc when w talk about things relate to logic in a sense that isn’t logical-maths problems, my answer is always ‘it depends’, so I think my answer to this question is still ‘it depends’. Dunno really maybe I’m stupid but…
• How important is efficiency and productivity to you? It’s important. It just is, there isn’t a lot to explain here. I’m not always the most productive person, I’m adhd, sometimes it’s really hard to find the motivation to start doing things, but when I start them I need to be not only efficient but also the best, so obviously I need that efficiency and productivity to be really efficient and productive yk
• Do you control others, even if indirectly? How and why do you do that? I think I do both directly and indirectly, as I said I like being in control and even more I hate being controlled so… I’ve already mention manipulation, which is one of the way I use to control others ig, I think I’m not aware of other mechanisms I use to do so but I’m surely a controlling person, this was clearer when I was younger, I was a total bossy little kid, now I softened a lot, so, if I am controlling, I am in a way more healthy way, if it exists, idk it seems like I’m a monster but I swear I can be a really nice person help ashsasjah
• What is your learning style? What kind of learning environments do you struggle with most? Why do you like/struggle with these learning styles? Do you prefer classes involving memorization, logic, creativity, or your physical senses? I’ve already touched this topic so I’m gonna be short: I learn the best by doing, so physical senses are my must, I absolutely don’t like learn by just reading lot of informations put in written words, so if I have to learn by books I’m better if there are images or schemes, video are surely more appreciated and the worst is learn by just listening to someone, w/out any other supply , like no I just can’t.
• How good are you at strategizing? Do you easily break up projects into manageable tasks? Or do you have a tendency to wing projects and improvise as you go? I’ve good strategy skills I think and I’m even more good to break up projects into manageable tasks, so yes, its smth that really comes natural to me and I really enjoying do. Sometimes it can absorb my energy honestly, I really feel that, but I love planning and find solutions. I’m not bad in wing projects and improvise tho, I think it depends on tasks??
• What are your aspirations in life, professionally and personally? I just wanna be happy, enjoy life, try lotta things ad have lotta experiences, met ppl and bound w them, sharing quality time, love and being loved, this kind of thing, I’d say I’d really love to achieve big things and be successful honestly, but what counts more it’s just living life ig (have both would be the perfection obviuosly)
• What are your fears? What makes you uncomfortable? What do you hate? Why? There are really a lot of questions omg, well I hate being controlled and fear lose control, I’m uncomfortable in sharing my feelings cause I hate being seen as weak or vulnerable, I can’t stand being made fun of, even if its just a joke, bc I hate the feeling of shameless I feel, I kinda need to be admired and give a good impression so when someone joke abt thing I do/say I get upset (hide it) unless I’m the first to do irony abt myself. I also hate being wrong and when ppl don’t listen to me, or when I have to repeat myself many times (I got tired of answering I’m sure it can be seen lol, it’s 11 pm here btw..)
• What do the "highs" in your life look like? I act so excited and I feel like I literally could do anything, I get so hyper motivated that I could accomplish all the thing I planned to accomplish and even more in a day.
• What do the "lows" in your life look like? The opposite, I feel unmotivated and could stay at bed all the day, also when I’m not at my best I tend to be really harsh on ppl close to me, like my brother for eg, I take everything on him and its like I can’t help but make him feel bad on propose sometimes (?), saying things I know will hurt him or annoy him (?), idk, I’m this honest just bc I really want to find out my real mbti, but yes when I have lows I tend to be an a**hole :((((
• How attached are you to reality? Do you daydream often, or do you pay attention to what's around you? If you do daydream, are you aware of your surroundings while you do so? I daydream but not that much at the end, I’m surely aware of my surroundings while doing so, I think I use daydream as a way to get motivated but I’m not so lost in my head when it happens.
• How long do you take to make an important decision? And do you change your mind once you've made it? It depends, there was a period during my teen years where I used to make a lot of impulsive decisions, now I try to think more before acting, but I still think I’m more prone to follow my gut. It’s an hard question to answer to cause its a thing that has changed often during my life. I usually can regret a decision but at the end I rarely change my mind while pondering the situation.
• Do you ever catch yourself agreeing with others just to appease them and keep the conversation going? How often? Why? Yes, almost always, the scenarios are two, or I need the conversation to end so I agree w everything just to close it asap, or it’s just me and my fear of hurt the person I’m talking to, as I mentioned when I was I child I didn’t have this problem and I used to speak my mind during conversation, but now its a hole new story, I only say what I think if we’re really close, the more close the more I speak my truth, indeed I’m the most direct person ever whit my parents and brother.
• Do you break rules often? Do you think authority should be challenged, or that they know better? If you do break rules, why? I don’t break rules rules, but when we talk about social norms or way to do things at work etc… I usually find my own way to do them, even when my boss or more high level colleagues tell me tips, or explain how they’ve always done a particular tasks, I find more efficient ways so I can low-key also demonstrate I was right and able to do thing on my own. I don’t directly challenge authorities buy I often find myself thinking they could do better.
ty btw :))

2023.06.11 00:09 No-Trust-7517 Not a bad trip but a very overwhelming one
So about 3 months ago i got really into psychedelics, and because the country i live in has very laxed laws concerning hallucinogens there are several websites and even little cornershops in the open where you can buy psychedelic mushrooms, although online orders are way safer since they don’t require showing your face and taking unnecessary risks.
And this is where my story started, i had saved about 200$ to buy a basically year long supply of magic mushrooms (4oz.) And waited two weeks for them to arrive, and honestly my first experiences were great, i was euphoric during all of them and had little to no side effects due to dehydration.
So being the idiot i was one night, before sleeping i thought it’d be a good idea to try and do some mushrooms just before bed, mind you i had done a lot of research before even ingesting the tiniest amount of psilocybin, so i knew that in general it would take 30min to one hour before i started to notice the effects.
However that night something felt different, i had measured about 3.5g of blue meanies on the scale since they’re aren’t very potent but i felt nothing even tough my tolerance had reseted.
23pm : i decided to get a bit more comfortable, i take my clothes pff and tried meditating a little to appease my little anxiety, but 30 minutes after that i made an incredibly stupid decision that anyone who’s tripped more than 3 times would never do : re dosing
Except this time, i hadn’t even bothered to use a scale, i just eyeballed the amount and basically boofed it but in my mouth. Looking back on it i think i know exactly what was going on, you see during the day before my friend had given me vyvanse, which helped calm me down before a tough national exam
So what i think happened is that since vyvanse is an opioid, it had either delayed or killed the effects even tough there was psilocybin in my system, which meant that as the vyvanse was wearing off i was at my peak of the trip…
So anyways back to the main story
At around midnight, i re dosed once again, and let me tell you what’s about to happen defied my sense of logic for a full 8 hours
The second the mushroom cap went into my stomach, my hands started to get extremely bright and wrinkly, so i decided to go to the bathroom and look at myself and surprise : my face was literally shifting trough time and becoming older and older until the cycle would reverse and I’d start getting younger, which to me was pretty cool, no panicking yet
But after a full minute of just gaping my mouth open in the mirror i was suddenly overtaken by a feeling of love, acceptance and humility, i was having visions in front of my eyes of me and my family and everyone i know hugging each other and telling ourselves that we cared. At this moment i went into my room, and laid down on the floor, i had no time to even think of what was happening but i was quick enough to text one of my friends whom i had tripped before of how much i valued our friendship while barely being able to form coherent sentences (might drop the screenshots)
After talking to my friend i basically closed my phone and sat down, only to be overtaken by a white pure light that irradiated love, and to be honest i thought i was gonna die, and i was ok with it.
After what felt like an eternity of ego death i had woken up, except my mind was split between me and a pair of shoes next to me, i could talk to it telepathically but i don’t really remember our conversation.
After this i looked around my room and literally all of my clothes had crazy Egyptian patterns on them and at this point i literally didn’t know who or what i was, my room became a dark prison and i kept looping trough space time, at some point my body folded onto itself and i lost all sensations keep in mind that i still wasn’t having a bad trip, i was confused but definitely not scared. Anyways i finally break out of this thought prison and went into the kitchen to drink some water, and at this point i also went to take a dump but I’m not sure wether i was hallucinating or actually pooping, anyways i go back to my room and start listening to music, it was so beautiful i cried like a baby, the music had a totally different meaning and the voices and the beats aligned themselves in a different way, and here’s the weirdest and final part of my trip, as im laying down i can’t sleep and i literally look out the window but instead of time stretching like it usually does it was somehow speeding up, the sub rose in about 20 seconds from my perspective, and after that i went to sleep, only to be waken up by my parents asking why i wasn’t at school.
I had taken the mushrooms a Saturday night… so i tripped and watched the sun rise for a full day and a half.

2023.06.11 00:08 GM_Blue Gunner Zeri Comp Guides by GM Blue
Intro
I'm GM Blue, an NA Challenger / GM player in Set 8 and 8.5. I aim to reach Rank 1 in Set 9, so I am writing this guide as much for me as it is for others.
This guide was originally recorded as a video which you can watch here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wePVRtkuogg Lolchess:
https://lolchess.gg/profile/na/gmblue Comp Overview (TL;DR)
There are two versions for Gunners: Piltover and Non-Piltover. Generally speaking, you should play the Piltover variation if you hit Piltover early and are able to have a 30+ power T-Hex by some point in Stage 4 / ideally 40+ by end of the game. That said, different people will have different opinions on exactly how strong the T-Hex should be before you consider dropping out of Piltover. If your T-Hex is strong, you'll keep Piltover the entire game.
The Piltover variation has a limited champion pool to select from, but there are many different combinations on how to fit them on your board (particularly if you are trying to fit Heimerdinger). The non-Piltover version is easier to play as you have more flexible spots to fit whatever you hit.
Early Game Units
In the early game, you should focus on picking up mainly Piltovers, Bruisers, and Gunners. Bruisers are important as they pair with Vi and you'll often end up playing 4 Bruiser in the early game as your frontline of choice.
Example Early Game Board:
https://tactics.tools/s/S7cih3 Piltover Zeri Core
- Zeri
- 3 Piltover Units of your choice (Vi, Ekko, Jayce, & Heimer)
- Minimum of 3 frontline units (4 if your T-Hex is low power)
- Fill out remaining slots with Gunners and Zaun units
Gunner Zeri Flex Units
Gunner +1's
- Tristana (get off your board ASAP)
- Jinx
- Jayce
- Senna
Piltover
- Orianna
- Vi
- Jayce
- Ekko
- Heimerdinger (very difficult to play on your board on 8, examples for why later)
Zaun +1's
Freljord
Frontliners
- Sion
- K'Sante
- Shen
- Jarvan IV
- Nasus (worst case, generally do not play)
Notes about Heimerdinger and +1 spat's
Heimerdinger is generally difficult to add on 8 for a few reasons. One is that he is an expensive unit (23g at 1-star if you want to fully upgrade his turret) and thus can eat away at your gold for upgrading Zeri and frontline units. Secondly, you have to make major sacrifices to slot him on your board. If you drop Jayce, you lose 4 Gunner. If you drop Ekko, you lose 4 Zaun. If you drop Vi, your frontline and backline become unbalanced. There ARE variations that play him, but there are many games where choosing not to play him is correct.
If you get a +1 Gunner or +1 Zaun spat, it becomes a lot easier to play Heimer on 8 as you no longer have to make those big tradeoffs of losing 4 Gunner or 4 Zaun.
Examples to Help Understand Piltover Comp
Non-Piltover version
Same idea as the Piltover version except now you have more flexible slots as you no longer need to play 3 Piltover. That means you can drop Vi for a better unit or drop out of 4 Zaun to play higher quality units. Often you'll play Freljord in the non-Piltover version, but not always. I generally think 4 Gunner with Senna is better than 4 Zaun if you have to choose one, but you can also play both in the non-Piltover version.
Itemization
As usual, I don't like to provide too many thoughts on items as it will get solved once stats are out. That said, I have found QSS and RFC as both strong / underutilized options on Zeri. QSS is excellent if you are Zeke's stacking Jayce as Jarvan / Sion often target the Jayce corner clump. RFC is excellent as it is a front loaded Rageblade that provides higher uptime. Since you are Zeke's stacking most of the time, you get a lot of AS from Jayce and don't necessarily need the full scaling of Rageblade so I generally think RFC is competitive.
Final Thoughts
This is by far the hardest comp guide I have written thus far as there are a LOT of ways to play the Piltover version. It took a lot of VoD review to see as many of these different variants in action. As of right now, 6 Zaun is very strong and it's usually worth playing even if you only have 1 spat, but that might change in the future where it only becomes lucrative with 2 spats.
I generally find the Piltover version stronger than the non-Piltover version, but you want a 40+ charge T-Hex by the end game or it isn't worth having to play Vi if you have better units to play. I'd love to hear other people's experiences for this comp as it is one of comps that has made me dizziest thus far. Also, I did not provide much insight on Zaun mods but I generally think the explosion one and Robotic arm are quite good - especially if you can Overcharge the explosion one on a Bruiser like Sion.

2023.06.11 00:08 cench /r/nonprogress will be going off the map on June 12th to support open API access for 3rd-party apps on Reddit
What's going on? For over 15 years, Reddit has provided a powerful API (automated data access system) that has been the foundation for countless tools and platforms developed by and for the community, from your favorite bots to critical spam detection and moderation tools to popular third-party browsers that provide a superior user experience on a wide variety of devices.
Just recently, however, Reddit has announced a number of deeply unpopular changes to this API that will have some extremely damaging effects on this open ecosystem:
- They've cut off access to Pushshift, which has long provided a powerful sitewide search and data for academics and security experts
- They're greatly increasing the price of API access, far beyond comparable services like Imgur, such that third-party browsers like Apollo, Narwhal, and Bacon Reader will be driven into bankruptcy
- Additionally, they're denying third-party browsers both ad revenue and all access to NSFW content
- Note that the official Reddit app is woefully behind in terms of accessibility compared to third-party apps, meaning blind users will be effectively excluded from participation on mobile
- New rate limits and restrictions will make it significantly harder to police spammers, repost bots, and abusive and dangerous accounts
What are we doing about it? We're standing with the developers and users affected by this greedy and shortsighted decision, hardworking people who have contributed more to Reddit's growth than just about anybody else. To this end, we will be shutting the subreddit down on June 12th until the following goals are addressed:
Lower the price of API calls to a level that's affordable to third-party developers. Communicate on a more open and timely basis about changes to Reddit which will affect large numbers of moderators and users. To allow mods to continue keeping Reddit safe for all users, NSFW data must remain available through the API.

2023.06.11 00:06 Admirable-Simple-341 Future LORE?
Don't get me wrong, I love the dev team - they're really great at interacting with the community and do so in a very passionate way but I don't think they're going to change their current strategy. And I'm not a fan.
Dani confirmed the lore was not dead in the 1st episode of the new podcast, but that was back in April. If all they're going to do is continue making posters & animations that hold little to no significance (in terms of lore) and meaningless "relationships" between the characters and adding new environments and characters, I'm not very invested. It's all wishy-washy, maybe this, maybe that but I think they're too afraid of upsetting anyone by dropping any game-changing lore. I'm not a fan of this approach and more people are gonna keep losing interest unless they change it up a bit.
I mean... it would be nice of they outright confirmed something... right?
There's been dozens of theories already made and this subreddit gives me hope that they recognise there's still an active community coming up with creative and interesting solutions and ideas but at the end of the day, we're just throwing theories at a brick wall and seeing if any of them stick. We still have yet to see.
I like that they confirmed the lore's not dead, but it would still be nice to see something... anything, really.
Anyway... I'd like to hear other people's thoughts on this. I'm not alone in feeling like this, am I?

2023.06.11 00:06 Neurostorming My [30F] father [57M] and (step) Mom [55F] won’t keep my daughter [1F] overnight
I’m currently in a conflict with my parents, and I’m not really sure how to move forward.
My parents moved back to my state after a 16 year absence this year. It’s been pretty great to have them back, and we’ve all been enjoying more family time together. I took their move pretty hard as a teen, as my biological Mom was an alcoholic who wasn’t in a good place, and she had primary custody. Our relationship has always been a little conditional on their part, but overall we recovered in my twenties and became close.
I’m currently pregnant with my second child. I have a one year old who was born in a traumatic way after a lengthy hospitalization due to severe pre-eclampsia. My husband and I knew that it was possible for me to have a reoccurrence of this medical issue during this pregnancy, so early on we talked with my parents about being available to watch our daughter in an emergent situation. They assured me that they’d make themselves available.
Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia two days ago. After diagnosis I sent a text out to our immediate family letting them know what the situation was medically, that we expect to deliver prematurely, and at this juncture the goal is just to get to 34 weeks gestation for delivery. We asked everyone to please reply if contacted in the middle of the night as any midnight contact meant that we were trying to find a safe place to have our daughter stay the night if our first contact (my parents) aren’t available or picking up the phone.
My Mom called me today while she was riding shot-gun with my Dad. She told me she could only offer Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for overnight stays because of the health of their dog. They have a 9lb Maltese dog who is 14 years old and in end-stage heart failure. She explained that the dog has to be walked several times a day, and she just doesn’t think that she’ll be able to carry the dog and push my daughter in the stroller. “What if it rains?” she said, “How will I carry the umbrella, the dog, and push a stroller?” My Mom said that my Dad couldn’t call off of work to help with my daughter because he’s in his first year with the new company, but dude is a chemist with 35 years of experience and a great work history. He’s not exactly on the chopping block, and calling out of work because your kid is having life threatening pregnancy complications sounds like a pretty good reason.
I tried to keep my cool, but it was a struggle. I am facing potential literal life and death situation, and my parents’ primary concern is their Maltese and my Dad’s PTO. I didn’t pretend to be understanding, and I accused them of having out of wack priorities and being shitty parents.
Fortunately my father-in-law has volunteered to make himself available at any hour in the event of an emergency and will be bringing his elderly dog to our house so our daughter can be comfortable in her own home while I’m hospitalized. The child care issue is solved now, but my husband is angry and is advocating for cutting my parents off and going no contact. I’m really conflicted because I sincerely believed that further discussion with my parents isn’t going to produce a more constructive conversation, and it’s going to further damage our relationship. I’m not a fan of cutting people out, but I do see my husband’s point of view.
Thoughts?
TL;DR I could die of pre-eclampsia and my parents are prioritizing their dog over my daughter.

2023.06.11 00:06 Far-Application-7408 Time management BDR
So I do 55 calls per day and it takes me about 2 hours. I send emails, do some prospecting work (I assume that’s what I’m doing) and then I have nothing for the rest of the day. I really only need to work like 5 hours in a day and feel so guilty that I’m not working all 8. But I like to work fast and In sprints. I feel like I’d be so burnt out if I was actively working for 8 hours.. but if I don’t set any meetings that day, I feel guilty and it’s this never ending cycle (but if I do book a meeting, I feel fine lol).
How do you organize your day? I’ll drop my super rough inconsistent schedule below lol
8:30 check emails/prep for the day 9:00 meeting 9:30 start emails/prospecting/documentation 10:30/11: calls 12:00 lunch 1:00 calls 2:00 maybe some more emails and if there’s anything else I need to check on.
I already am provided with lists to call people and don’t usually have to do any crazy prospecting.
I do attend the meetings that I book by the way, so some days are much busier than others.

2023.06.11 00:05 La_minore Hypothetical Lores for OT3 Warrior
Inspired by the post of
u/darkdill and his comment, I have made 2 lores for Warrior. The criteria I followed in
u/darkdill’s comments are: journey FOR GLORY (main theme drop), inexperienced, female. Lores are below:
Righteous Warrior You are a Warrior. As the first-born daughter, and the only heir to a prestigious noble family, you were supposed to eventually take up the title of Lord and rule over your family’s territory of Ridgefort. But one does not simply inherit the title ‘Lord of Ridgefort’ by rights. As a fortress at the easternmost border of the nation, Ridgefort serves as the forefront bulwark that shields the Octera Empire and its people from constant invasion threats. Those threats extend to the whole continent, for the land beyond Ridgefort is filled with bloodthirsty and ambitious powers that aim to conquer Octera for its abundant rare resources.
In order to become a capable military commander, and to win the respect of seasoned soldiers who will eventually be under your leadership, you have decided to grasp those by your own hands. And thus, you set out on a journey FOR GLORY, hoping that one day, your glorious deeds will earn you your rightful place as the first Lady of Ridgefort.
What lies ahead on your journey? Will the glories you seek be enough to protect the people of Octera? Are you truly doing this selflessly to serve your people, or just selfishly to satisfy your thirst for fame? Only the future can tell…
”Evil” Warrior (not sure if pure evil protagonists work in OT)
You are a Warrior. As the only daughter and a fourth-born of the noble family Dystria - the royal ruling family of Barrensdoom, you have no chance of gaining the title ‘Emperor.’ But you will accept none of that. As one born with a great thirst for glory and power, you reject being a mere political pawn for the royal family. A pawn that will be married off to some weakling prince from one of Barrensdoom’s many vassal states someday. That is a fate unavoided by the daughters of Dystria. Though recently made a Knight Commander, albeit a ceremonial one with no real combat experience, there is no way for you to escape that fate. Not unless you become the very first Empress of Barrensdoom.
Desperate as you are, underhanded tactics are not the way you believe in. You refuse to have you brothers assassinated for the throne. Instead, you believe in proving oneself by achieving great deeds. Thus, you have set your goal to accomplishing that which none of Barrensdoom’s rulers have ever succeeded: conquering the most elusive country: Springsbloom - the Kingdom of Elves. To that end, you take your awkward army of outcasts, mad “innovators,” and so-called female Knights who have never seen war, and set out on a journey FOR GLORY.
What lies ahead in your journey? Is the glory you seek worth the countless lives that will be consumed during your wake? Will the satisfaction of being Barrensdoom’s First Empress last a lifetime, or will it only be a fleeting sense that vanishes like a pitiful mirage? Only the future knows…

2023.06.11 00:05 hereizabraincell I am tired of sexism and ageism at work and in my field
Im 36. I worked in banking for a few years, and everyone was telling me how rough bankers are, etc. So i decided to move into cybersecurity. I have never felt so humiliated in my life. Investment banks are innocent angels compared to this field. I did an msc in cybersecurity, and got 2 certs and recruiters still treat me like i dont know about cyber. At work, my colleagues are all men, older than me, they never listen to what i have to say. We might have a discussion about a malware, i offer my insights, nothing. My manager fully ignores me. Then a guy colleague might say something wrong, and they all clap. Also, women, get smaller salaries in my company... My other colleague, keeps trying to flirt with me. Calls me things like 'you need to find a man to be happy and not work.. youre so skinny why are you single'. I discussed it with my manager who laughed it off.
Ive been trying to find a new role for a year now. But its just not happening. And then the recruiters. Ive been told twice that im old for this field, unless i go to 'girly' roles like assurance. I was asked about my age twice in interviews. Once they said 'youll be the oldest if we hire you and thats going to be weird for you'. I also had a recruiter tell me (in writing, i kept it) 'we are looking for young people to be pentesters'. Im fed up.

2023.06.11 00:04 SentientChroma How do I start out after getting a degree? Feeling directionless and hopeless.
A little bit of background: I am a former civilian mariner sitting at the rank of OSV AB. I have traveled to several different countries and have spent a good chunk of time at sea and have lived a very transient lifestyle but recently I am wanting to settle down. Before that I have about 15 years of amateur computer repair experience starting in 2008 and I have been fixing PCs for my friends since. I absolutely love any type of technology and it is my dream to enter the IT field as it is my passion to help others and work with computers in a professional manner to better advance my dream career. Even a remote helpdesk job would be a dream come true for me and I relish at the oppertunity to obtain one. I do not charge others for repairing or building their PCs as I love doing it and I have built up a reputation for myself as the go to guy for tech. I also have soundboard ops experience DJing for local events since 2014 and am curently employed as a soundboard operator at a local radio station.
Recently I was employed as a civilian Mariner aboard a corporate fleet in the Gulf of Mexico and the Carribean but I left that behind about a year ago to go back to college to get an IT associate's degree. I estimate I have sent about somewhere around 571 applications and have only gotten one phone call back which I believe to be a scam because they never scheduled the phone interview they promised and have ignored my followup email.
I live in a very remote, rural ,and isolated coastal community in the deep southern US If that matters. As a matter of fact ,we are an island connected to a wetland by a canal bridge. There aren't a lot of IT options here and the main industries here are Seafood and Maritime work so getting hired by reference is out if the question as almost nobody here works in IT. There is one guy at the radio station that does and he took my resume but it's been 2 months. Is this typical for this field? He's always stressed and swamped with work so I don't know why they just wouldn't hire an extra guy to help out. I'd rather not go back to the boats but I will if I have to because right now I'm only making 7.25 an hour for my efforts in the studio and it's honestly really quite depressing and starting to physically affect my health. Should I just keep going on or should I go back out to sea? I'd make lots more money but I really have my heart set on IT.

2023.06.11 00:04 Zelliason Ted Kaczynski Created His Own Wilderness Gods
The Unabomber died today and in reading his obituary, I came across this tidbit. He started praying to the Grandfather Rabbit, since snowshoe rabbits were his main source of food in the winter. In prison, he said his biggest fear was losing touch his contact with his sense of "wild nature".
Humans need to create reasons and patterns to keep them motivated and to fend off their sense on powerlessness. Religion, stories, gods keep us going.
Here's the excerpt from the article and the NYX obit. Also a fantastic podcast about Ted K. Episode 4 about his relationship with his brother is heartbreaking and fascinating.
https://open.spotify.com/show/0CWSL5C1D9TaxdGgq3eOOw Obit
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/10/us/ted-kaczynski-dead.html
From:
https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/theresa-kintz-interview-with-ted-kaczynski “This is kind of personal,” he begins by saying, and I ask if he wants me to turn off the tape. He says “no, I can tell you about it. While I was living in the woods I sort of invented some gods for myself” and he laughs. “Not that I believed in these things intellectually, but they were ideas that sort of corresponded with some of the feelings I had. I think the first one I invented was Grandfather Rabbit. You know the snowshoe rabbits were my main source of meat during the winters. I had spent a lot of time learning what they do and following their tracks all around before I could get close enough to shoot them. Sometimes you would track a rabbit around and around and then the tracks disappear. You can’t figure out where that rabbit went and lose the trail. I invented a myth for myself, that this was the Grandfather Rabbit, the grandfather who was responsible for the existence of all other rabbits. He was able to disappear, that is why you couldn’t catch him and why you would never see him... Every time I shot a snowshoe rabbit, I would always say ‘thank you Grandfather Rabbit.’ After a while I acquired an urge to draw snowshoe rabbits. I sort of got involved with them to the extent that they would occupy a great deal of my thought. I actually did have a wooden object that, among other things, I carved a snowshoe rabbit in. I planned to do a better one, just for the snowshoe rabbits, but I never did get it done. There was another one that I sometimes called the Will ‘o the Wisp, or the wings of the morning. That’s when you go out in to the hills in the morning and you just feel drawn to go on and on and on and on, then you are following the wisp. That was another god that I invented for myself.”
So Ted Kaczynski, living out in the wilderness, like generations of prehistoric peoples before him, had innocently rediscovered the forest’s gods. I wondered if he felt that those gods had forsaken him now as he sat facing life in prison with no more freedom, no more connection to the wild, nothing left of that life that was so important to him except for his sincere love of nature, his love of knowledge and his commitment to the revolutionary project of hastening the collapse of the techno-industrial system. I asked if he was afraid of losing his mind, if the circumstances he found himself in now would break his spirit? He answered, “No, what worries me is that I might in a sense adapt to this environment and come to be comfortable here and not resent it anymore. And I am afraid that as the years go by that I may forget, I may begin to lose my memories of the mountains and the woods and that’s what really worries me, that I might lose those memories, and lose that sense of contact with wild nature in general. But I am not afraid they are going to break my spirit.” And he offered the following advice to green anarchists who share his critique of the technological system and want to hasten the collapse of, as Edward Abbey put it, “the destroying juggernaut of industrial civilization”: “Never lose hope, be persistent and stubborn and never give up. There are many instances in history where apparent losers suddenly turn out to be winners unexpectedly, so you should never conclude all hope is lost.”

2023.06.11 00:04 lifesunfair04 Is this normal 2 year old behavior?
My daughter is 26 months and she has this incessant need to reach and touch everything in sight. No matter how many times I tell her she can't touch other people's things she continues to do it when she has a chance. For example when we are at the park she will see people's things on the benches and run for it. I have told her multiple times not to touch or take other people's things and if she does it more than once or twice we leave the park. If she sees me while she's about to walk toward a bench she will walk away and not grab it so I know she understands she isn't supposed to. How do I help her to break this habit? I know I have to keep practicing by putting her in a public setting, we have only recently started going to this park which is where it's common for people to leave their things on benches etc. She also has select hearing (as I like to call it) she will follow commands and then other times she won't, especially when we are out and about she is more likely to rebel ... Any advice would be appreciated

2023.06.11 00:02 Thelonelyspider18 Hi my name is Carly and Spencer Webb was my baby brother. Let’s make outdoor recreation safer!
When Spencer passed away. Several bystanders went out of their way to try to reach 911. Some literally had to run a mile or two and others called 911 over 50 times. Due to the lack of cell service Emergency Medical Services were delayed. I thought long and hard about how we can do our best to prevent this from happening again. We can’t prevent all accidents but we can do our best to get proper medical care quickly. This petition will bring awareness to the Spencer Webb Bill. Which aims to put solar powered satellite connected call boxes in as many rural parks as we can. I hope to push this issue to a national level. Calling for help while enjoying the great American outdoors should not be that hard. Losing my brother is the most pain I’ve ever felt and I am dedicated to helping keep another family from that pain. Please sign and share. Thank you.

2023.06.11 00:01 sjanevardsson Better With a Friend
previous The PV Hobby Horse, a small cargo ship in the manufacturer’s default medium grey, sat at one end of the docks. Mid-bulk transports took the other occupied slots, while the big ships were loaded by drone on the opposite side of the station.
Sidra Boston, captain of the Hobby Horse and professional bounty hunter, found herself facing a trip back into aslodzhin space to fulfill a promise. The trip was going to cost. Any other species’ space, she’d find someone that needed a small cargo delivered, but not so the aslodzhins. They already had her and her ship registered as a private vehicle for the purpose of bounty hunting, and their rules were as strict and inflexible as their carapace.
On a whim, she checked for any bounties put out by the aslodzhin courts. That she found one surprised her; the fact that the bounty was so low it wouldn’t even cover docking fees didn’t. Still, the skip was reportedly on this station, and it saved her a few credits.
Sidra wandered the station, stopping in the first eatery she encountered. They did a passable burger and fries, but the milkshake tasted like sweetened sludge, and was undrinkable.
She paid for her meal and looked at the warrant again. The hikarin female shouldn’t be difficult to find. Hikarins were tall, often well over two meters, thin, fine-boned, furry, and had six limbs, sometimes walking on four, sometimes on three and sometimes on two. The center two limbs were long and strong enough to act as legs, yet they had grasping feet-hands. This station, in human space, had few hikarins, and even fewer with the rare, orange fur of her bounty.
Finding her quarry was easier than expected. She sat against the wall in the main concourse and held a sign asking for food or assistance to get to Lizshak, a world in aslodzhin space.
Sidra didn’t have any weapons or cuffs on her, but thought she’d give it a try. “Minsahee?” she asked.
The hikarin nodded. Her large eyes were sunken, her fur a matted and dull orange-brown beneath crusted clothes. “Can you help me get home?”
“Minsahee, I have a warrant for your arrest for failure to appear before the aslodzhin court. You can come with me quietly, or I can go back and get my cuffs and shackles and we can do this the hard way.”
Minsahee’s eyes filled with tears. “You mean, you’ll take me to Lizshak?”
“I wasn’t planning on going that far, but I’ll get you to aslodzhin space, Station 47, and the court will take you wherever you’re meant to stand trial.” Sidra extended a hand to help the hikarin to her feet.
She was too weak to walk on two limbs, instead leaning over to walk on four, and even then, her steps were unsteady. Sidra put an arm around her and was surprised at how bony the woman felt under the fur.
“Do you need a doctor?”
Minsahee leaned against Sidra. “No, I’m just tired.”
Sidra didn’t see a need to put the hikarin in the cell built into the cargo bay, and instead offered her a bunk in an unused cabin. “I’m trusting you not to be stupid,” she said. “Remember, I could take you on
my worst day and
your best, so don’t make me lock you up.”
Minsahee said nothing. Instead, she lay on the bunk, once again on the verge of tears.
Sidra grabbed a meal bar from the pantry and gave it to her with a jug of water. “There’s a washroom right next door if you need it. Once we’re in the hyper lane I’ll have time to answer any questions.”
At least the return trip to aslodzhin space would be quiet. She’d spent the last two weeks with a crippled turgen in the cell, cursing her every minute he was awake, until she finally snapped, “You wouldn’t stop! You threatened to kill the hikarin you’d already hurt, and the aslodzhin officer,
and me! How was I to know you can’t walk or stand without the use of your tail, anyway?”
The court was at first reluctant to pay the bounty, given his condition. Once they saw the bodycam footage, though, they relented.
This was a strange one, though. She’d picked up skips in various states of injury or illness, but never one that seemed on the verge of starving to death.
Once they were in the lane, course plotted in, she returned to the cabin Minsahee was using. The door was still open, and the empty wrapper for the meal bar was folded neatly and laid next to the pillow on the bunk. The hikarin had drunk half the water and was sleeping curled up in a ball.
Sidra closed the door and slept in a chair right outside it. It wouldn’t do to have the gal try to sneak to the cockpit and reroute the ship to Lizshak.
When Sidra woke a few hours later, Minsahee was still asleep. She heated up a can of potato-leek soup with ham and filled a bowl for herself. It was just as she started on her meal that Minsahee entered, carrying the half-empty water jug and meal bar wrapper.
Sidra looked up at her. “You hungry?”
Minsahee nodded and Sidra got up and poured the other half can of soup into a bowl, put a spoon in it, and set it on the table opposite herself. She sat back down and nodded at the bowl.
The hikarin got the message and sat to eat. She ate as if it was the last meal she’d ever get. Still, she only managed to eat half of it.
“Thank you, Captain.”
“So, Minsahee, why Lizshak?”
“I have—had a home there. Maybe I can go back to my job after I serve my time.”
“Your warrant didn’t say anything about your crime. You mind telling me?”
“Not a crime, a civil infraction.” Minsahee still held on to the meal bar wrapper until Sidra pointed at the recycler where she finally deposited it.
“What was the infraction, and how much time are you facing?”
“Mandatory three standard days for failure to appear for an appointment to have my signature notarized.”
Sidra’s spoon stopped halfway to her mouth which hung open. She set the spoon back in the bowl. “Say that again?”
“I was closing out a lease, which required a notarized signature. I had an appointment at the court notary but had to leave the day prior for Amherst station where you picked me up.”
“Why is that?”
“My hemi-brother was injured and in intensive care there. He was my only remaining family.”
Sidra sighed. “Was. I take it he didn’t make it?”
Minsahee shook her head. “I spent every credit I had getting there and had no way back.”
“How long were you on Amherst?”
“I don’t know in standard days, but seventy-one human days.”
“Shit.” Sidra went back to eating her soup. “Do you feel a little better with some food in your belly?”
“Yes, Captain. Thank you again.”
“I’m going to lay out a few simple rules on my ship. One:
never enter the cockpit unless I tell you to. Two:
never cycle an airlock unless I tell you to. Three: Clean up after yourself. That includes putting your leftovers in the fridge over there and finishing them later. I hate waste. Four: if you’re using the washroom, flip the switch just inside the door up, so I know you’re in there, and flip it down when you leave.”
“Yes, Captain, I will do those things.”
“As long as you don’t break the rules, you can call me Sid. Is it okay if I call you Min?”
Minsahee nodded. “Yes, I’d like that.”
Sidra stood up and cleaned up her dishes. “Not rules, but a few helpful things. If you want to wait to eat when I eat, that’s fine, but if you’re hungry, don’t be afraid to come in and feed yourself. Drinking water is available from the labeled tap over there. First aid kit is right there, too, but there’s nothing in there to make me go night-night or get you high. If you need to, feel free to use my shampoo. I take it you haven’t had a good wash in a while, right?”
Minsahee looked down at the table. “Right.”
“Hey, don’t be embarrassed. It’s not your fault. Social Services on Amherst should’ve done
something to help.”
As Minsahee put her leftovers in the fridge, Sidra flopped down on the sofa and started up a holo series. She hadn’t been able to pay any attention with her last passenger, so it seemed like a good time to catch up.
She heard the shower start and stop several times. At least she knows how to wash without wasting water, Sidra thought. During quiet parts of the holo she could hear pained grunts and sharp intakes of breath from the cabins.
Sidra paused the holo and went to check on Minsahee. Her door was open, and she was trying to untangle bright orange fur with her fingers. Her clothes lay in a pile beside the bed.
Sidra grabbed a comb and brush from the washroom and tapped on her door. “Would you like some help?”
“I don’t want to be a bother—”
“Nonsense. You can throw those clothes and the bedsheets in the sterilizer and come sit in the galley with me. I’ll work on your back while you work on your front.”
“But I’m naked.”
“So? See anyone else around here?”
Minsahee picked up the clothes and sheets and put them in the machine that Sidra pointed to. It started automatically, and she followed Sidra back to the galley.
“I’m gonna sit on the sofa, just sit on the floor in front of me and I’ll get started on your back.”
Once they’d settled in, Sidra resumed play on the holo and began to comb the mats out of the hikarin’s fur. She was careful not to pull too hard, instead treating it as she did the rescue cat she’d had years before.
“Captain, why would you do this for me?”
“I told you, Min, call me Sid.” She took a deep breath and let it out. “Maybe I just don’t want the court to think I abused you on the way.”
Minsahee shook her head. “That’s not it. You could’ve brought me in exactly as you found me, and they wouldn’t care. So why, Sid?”
“Most of the time my job’s pretty lonely. I guess it’s just nice having a skip that isn’t trying to run, or kill me, or anything of the sort.” She laughed. “You’re the first bounty I’ve ever picked up that wanted to go serve your time.”
“I can’t get work until I do,” she said, “so I should.”
Once Sidra had worked out the mats on Minsahee’s head, back, and upper arms, she handed the comb to her and began to brush out those areas. All the while, the two watched episode after episode of the holo.
They stopped partway through the evening to eat; Minsahee reheating and finishing her soup and Sidra making herself a sandwich. Even though her clothes were clean, Minsahee didn’t rush to dress. When Sidra had finished with the brush, Minsahee took over, brushing her forelimbs and legs, chest, belly, and neck.
As one of the holo episodes ended, Sidra stopped it and stood. “I’m going to shower and go to bed. If you want to keep watching you can, just no spoilers.”
“Spoilers?”
“If you watch more episodes, don’t tell me what happens. I like to find out for myself.”
“I think I’m just going to finish brushing out my legs, and then go to sleep myself. I’m not ready to put clothes on with how good my fur feels right now. Besides, I think the show’s more enjoyable with a friend.”
Sidra nodded and left the galley.
A friend, she thought,
is that how she sees me? The sterilizer was on the way to the cabins, so she pulled out the sheets and clothes, made up Minsahee’s bed, and laid her folded clothes in the center of it. The four-sleeved top had a large rip on one of the lower sleeves, but Sidra didn’t have any way to repair it.
She stepped into the shower, wet herself down, scrubbed, and rinsed quickly. She walked out carrying her clothes and wrapped in a towel. Minsahee waited for her just inside the door of her cabin. “Thank you again, ca—Sid.”
“Get some sleep, Min.” Sidra dropped her clothes and the towel in the sterilizer on her way by and lay down to sleep in her own cabin. She knew for sure now that Minsahee wasn’t going to sneak onto the bridge or try to strangle her in her sleep.
The next morning, Sidra pulled the treasure she’d picked up on Amherst out of the pantry. Two real potatoes. She’d planned on gorging on home fries, but since she had company, she’d share.
Shit, she thought,
company? I thought I was hauling a skip. As she finished chopping the potatoes, she answered herself aloud, “No, she’s a good woman. She just missed an appointment, we all do. It’s the bugs that are the baddies here.”
“Did you say something?”
Sidra jumped, knocking the knife off the counter. It landed on her foot, leaving a long gash. “Ow, shit!”
“Lay down and elevate your foot,” Minsahee said with more force than Sidra thought her capable of. She pulled the first-aid kit off the wall and dropped down next to Sidra. In a matter of seconds, she’d cleaned the wound, and begun pulling out the suture kit. “I’m sorry, Captain, it’s deep and it needs stitches.”
“What was your job?” Sidra asked.
“Second-rank-emergency-trauma-physician-first-class,” she answered, as she sprayed a numbing agent on the injury.
“Aslodzhin titles. That would be like, what, an ER doctor in human space?”
“Similar,” she said, while stitching up Sidra’s foot. “The only things we
don’t do are those we pass off to surgeons or specialists.”
Within a matter of minutes, Sidra’s foot was stitched and bandaged, and Minsahee helped her to the sofa where she could lie down and elevate her foot. Only after she was settled did she notice that besides tending her wound, Minsahee had cleaned up the blood, tidied up the suture and bandage packages, and repacked the first aid kit.
“Thanks, Min. Or I guess I should say
Doctor Minsahee.”
“There’s no need for that. But I will have to take care of you for a few days. You need to stay off that foot as much as possible.”
“Ugh.”
“What were you preparing to cook?”
“I was going to make us some home fries. The potatoes are chopped and ready.”
“I don’t know what home fries or potatoes are, but if you talk me through it, I can make it for you.”
As Sidra lay on the sofa, eating home fries, she looked at the hikarin woman seated in the chair across from her, savoring them, taking her time.
“You know, Min, I think these may be the best home fries I’ve ever had. I don’t know whether it’s the potatoes, the cook, or the company.”
“Like I said, everything’s better with a friend.”
“We’ll have to do this again.”
“When I finish my time?”
“That sounds like a plan. I can hang around and wait a few days for you. Maybe even find some potatoes there on the station…wouldn’t that be something?”
Minsahee cleaned up the mess in the galley and made sure Sidra had water close to hand. “I’ll go make sure the cabins and washroom are clean. If you need anything, call.”
“They’re clean enough. Let’s watch some more of this series.” The next episode started, and Sidra looked at her foot, then at the hikarin woman curled up on the floor watching with her. She’d always worked alone, but maybe she could do with a doctor on board…or even a friend.
