2023.06.10 20:57 TringlePringle The Denver Nuggets were once expelled from the NBA.

April 25, 1950. Newspapers across the country printed a release by the UPI from the day before that began, "Denver, Sheboygan, and Waterloo were expelled from the National Basketball Association today."
The Nuggets had been around since 1928, but had been amateur for 20 years and professional for only the last two. They were founded by a Piggly-Wiggly regional manager to entertain his son, who loved sports but had become wheelchair-bound as a result of Potts disease. As amateurs, they were national champions three times and runners-up six. As pros, they lost a lot.
In 1948-49, the most interesting thing about the Denver Nuggets was the presence of Mo Udall, who almost became President a couple decades later.
In 1949-50, it was probably the 0-15 start to the season. Or the other three double-digit losing streaks. Or the fact that they only paid their players half their contractually guaranteed salaries.
The NBA was at a weird crossroads in which they knew they either had to split into a majominor league system, expand and split into a baseball style AL/NL setup, or contract. When the best of the small-market teams, the Anderson Packers, ceased operations in the middle of the Finals—in part so that their owner could spend his free time riding trains—it suddenly became far easier for the league to decide on contraction. St. Louis quit on their own terms, but Denver, Sheboygan, and Waterloo were kicked out by unanimous vote from the other owners. Babe Kimbrough, president of the Indianapolis Olympians, initially abstained, until Commissioner Podoloff threatened to kick him out too if he didn't go along with it.
The three expelled teams started up a new league called the NPBL. The fact that you've never heard of it probably says how successful it was; they shut down before their first season even ended. But during that summer, they posed the NBA a real, existential threat. Waterloo poached the #1 pick from the Celtics. 16 starters (including Boston's leading scorer) and loads of prospects followed. Then it all dramatically fell apart.
Professional basketball came back to Denver via the ABA. In 1974, Carl Scheer changed the new franchise's name to the Nuggets to honor the original team. Two years later, they made the ABA Finals with the Denver Post's Frank Haraway among those covering the team, 48 years after his dad created them for him.
Now, they're one game away from their first major basketball championship since before WWII, a time when Denver basketball was led by a duo comprising "America's best center" and a guard who, when he "took charge... the pyrotechnics started." A certain Rev. Dr. James Naismith called them "the greatest team I have ever seen."

The above is a combination of my own personal research, interviews I've personally conducted with two members of the team, and a wide range of articles between 1937-1976 from The Denver Post as well as various newspapers across the Midwest, with topical inspiration from excerpts of the books The Golden Age of Amateur Basketball: The AAU Tournament, 1921-1968 by Adolph H. Grundman, Pioneers of the Hardwood: Indiana and the Birth of Professional Basketball by Todd Gould, and Ball Hawks: The Arrival and Departure of the NBA in Iowa by Tim Harwood.

2023.06.10 20:51 ijeblowrider Introducing COMBO: Empowering Web3 Game Development

Website Link: COMBO Network
What is COMBO?
COMBO is revolutionizing Web3 game development by providing cutting-edge scaling solutions. As a leading provider in the industry, COMBO aims to connect game developers with the entire ecosystem through an open-source, decentralized, and game-oriented Layer2. By leveraging the world's top game engine, COMBO maximizes the potential of Web3 games, making them accessible, efficient, affordable, and secure for everyone.
Why do we build COMBO?
The explosive success of CryptoKitties in 2017 showcased the immense potential of blockchain games to the COMBO team. However, at that time, mature Ethereum scaling solutions were lacking, hindering infrastructure development. In response, COMBO built the first game chain based on Graphene technology, successfully launching in 2019 with advanced concepts like parallel worlds, asset synthesis, and asset circulation.
After observing the DeFi Summer of 2020 and the GameFi wave of 2021, COMBO realized the need to integrate with the Ethereum ecosystem. They shut down their original Graphene-based chain and embraced Ethereum's maturing scaling solutions. Along the way, the team developed the IGO platform and a Web3 plugin to facilitate game development.
Now, COMBO sees a new possibility with the emergence of Layer2 mainnets like Optimism, Arbitrum, and StarkNet. Recognizing Layer2 as a solution to Ethereum's scalability problem, COMBO is committed to creating a game-focused Layer2 that addresses the unique needs of Web3 game developers.
Join the Web3 gaming revolution with COMBO! Learn more at COMBO Network.

2023.06.10 20:42 Panda-Post [Offer] Venus Postcards [US to US and WW]

Hello beautiful mailers, I still have Venus postcards so here’s my Pride offer, part two:
I know so much more in my heart than I will ever have the little words to say, but here goes:
I’m calling these postcards ‘Venus Versions’ because they feature, specifically, Botticelli’s Venus - and riffs thereon. There’s the original painting, juxtapositions with other beauties, insertions of the humorous (ie noodle Venus! Sticker Venus!); all of them invoking this one painting. I think it’s amazing that one piece of art has resonated through time, being celebrated, interpreted, deconstructed. These Venuses are human, and illustration, and painting, and I hate to put labels on bodies and people (yes there are multiple races, different body types, drag Venus, trans Venus, even Marilyn Monroe), so just know they are all beautiful, and they celebrate the warm energy of creation and renewal.
To claim: please tell me what country you’re in, and then give us a bop or a book for Pride. (My example is a book: ‘Siren Queen’ by Nghi Vo)
As long as it’s not marked as fulfilled feel free to request :)

2023.06.10 20:35 Vicious_Shrew Stimulant Medication while Nomad (North America)

Has anyone done this type of lifestyle while prescribed a stimulant medication (Aderall, Ritalin, Concerta, etc)? If so, how did you manage to get refills? Did you have to go to a new doctor every time you moved or did your home base doctor just have the prescription sent to wherever you are?
I’ll be staying exclusively in North America so I’m hoping that will make things a bit easier. I was originally just planning to have a family member pick up my Rx for me and mailing it to me but my new pharmacy requests to see my ID every time I get my meds so that’s not an option.

2023.06.10 20:15 chorustrilogy [pf2e][online][est] A discovery in the Outlands... the Gods remain silent... What a mysterious skyship... And you all, who will be the first to investigate it.

I am looking to fill 1-2 slots remaining.

This far away from the Centerpiece, there is questions as to the history of the Farspace and its origin thereof.

After all this time, will the truth of our creation arise? Or will we burn like the mythical idea of starlight in this infinite cloudy sky?

---
For many thousands of Cycles has the Outlands given fear to the people of the Farspace. Rightfully so, as the first skyland to exit the Centerpiece was terrified by the sudden switch to darkness, a concept unknown at the time. And now, even hundreds of Cycles later, not much is know about the Outlands, and the existence of something beyond it, now termed the Farlands, is just a theory. When a derelict skyship made of metal with hulking weapons is found one Twilight in the Outlands, the discovery is not a welcome one. The Centerpiece has enjoyed its time knowing all it needed to know, and the peoples that lived there, no matter how much they loved a good mystery... none could ever bring themselves to look at such a craft clearly designed for war with joy.
Enter the newly-founded Starfall Academy, a mysterious organization with... no ties to anything at all? Where the Antispace did these people come from? And why is the founder so familiar with the mechanics of the skyship? For that matter...

Who are you?

A seemingly random collection of absolutely mismatched and restless individuals that have no business being this far into the Outlands have suddenly been approved to approach the skyship and board it, seeking out some of the answers it may hold as to how it got here, and from where did it come. You'll have a few days to prepare before reaching Outpost Nemo, the most distant skyland ever sent out from the Centerpiece. This mission is likely to have at least one fatality, so says the initial research team, who had not dare approach more than a few miles to the skyship. You certainly can't disagree, having heard the phonograph and seen the visimark notes by Outpost Nemo. The ship itself is massive, the size of some skylands, and the level of damage and lack of activity means that whatever might be on the ship encountered something bigger, nastier, and lost to it.

Your mission

Get to know each other, say your last prayers to the Gods, and hope you won't be seeing Packet anytime soon. Board the advanced skyship and explore. And try not to die. Outpost Nemo has already made it clear they won't be rescuing those who fall from the skyship.
Should you clear the vessel with no issues, fire the flare and call for the away ship and report your findings. Should there be something on that nightmare ship with you...

Starfall Command Contacts You

This campaign will be two series of mini-campaigns, roughly 4-5 sessions at most for both. The first one will be as I detailed above, and the second... well, that'll depend on what happens in the first :O
Our day of play will be Saturdays @ 2pm-7pm/8pm EST from June to August, using Discord as audio and FoundryVTT as rolling and visual. Session 0 will take place literally as soon as you can join, your first week of play will be June 17th, 2023.

How to apply

Applications will be available until the sun goes down tomorrow (meaning this will be open for two days). You will need to add me on Discord @ chorustrilogy#0013 and send me the following information:
1 - Your age/name/pronouns 2 - Your availability on Wednesdays in EST 3 - Your history with roleplaying systems 4 - Your favorite session/experience as a DM/player 5 - Your least favorite session/experience as a DM/player 6 - Your introduction to TTRPGs 7 - Your pre-session 0 character concepts 8 - Your favorite comfort snack 9 - Your greatest fear (I promise I will use this against you)
Priority will be given to people who show aptitude and versatility in roleplay, lengthy responses and positive and repeated interactions with other members of my group.

2023.06.10 20:11 The_Real_Katakuri [Chatper 1086] Rested Review: Looking back

Ch. 1086 p1_2
The chapter starts with this color spread. Very colorful, very very clean. It's very readable. Every element, including water on the characters is easily understandable, the ground is beautiful and the puddles are even more beautiful. That's the good part.
I have three problems with the cover, though:
  1. Mugiwara pirates again and again and again. We've had some similar color spreads in the past and it gets to a point where they feel repeated, even if they aren't. I'm convinced most readers would prefer more different characters making it to the color covers.
  2. Franky's hairstyle. Because Franky wasn't horrible enough in last chapter's cover, Oda needed to find a new and even more silly hairstyle for Franky. I wonder if he's ever going to swallow his pride and go back to draw Franky either with his original hairstyle or the shaved style with which he came back after the time skip. Every single other hairstyle has been ridiculous and has only served to ridicule Franky.
  3. The perspective is completely messed up. The flowers in the top right part of the cover show peprfectly where the vanishing point is (in the middle of the image very close to the top). The vanishing point is the point where the camera is "looking" to, even if Oda likes to put it outside the image sometimes for artistic reasons. The thing is, every character on the ground (not Luffy), and most notably Nami, is drawn with very short legs as though Oda was trying to do a very high angle shot. And that doesn't make any sense accounting for the perspective of the background, but also because he's really only shortened their legs and not the rest of their body and it's very very weird. Look at Nami's legs and the umbrella. The umbrella isn't distorted but the legs are. That defeats the purpose of distorting the legs and it simply feels like she's a dwarf now.
In any case, the work on the reflections of every character in the puddles are awesome.
Ch. 1086 p3
Last chapter ended with Wapol escaping from Pangaea castle with Vivi (and Kinderella?), and this one begins and they have already successfully left Mariejoise. Igaram, Pell and Chaka are searching for king Cobra and Vivi.
It isn't clear at all when is this happening:
I find it very strange, regardless of time, that Igaram, Pell & Chaka haven't been dealt with by the nobles. It's not like they're hiding precisely. The way I see it, there are only 2 ways to proceed with them:
  1. Tell them "the king is here, please come" and kill them.
  2. Tell them about Cobra's death and frame Sabo as soon as possible in ortder to avoid suspicion.
If they aren't killed, and the nobles are not answering to their questions about the king either, anyone would connect the dots and imagine Cobra was murdered by the nobles.
Also, it's good that Igaram cares for Vivi, but what about caring a chapter or two earlier? What was more important for Igaram than protecting Vivi? What was he actually doing??
In fact, why was Vivi waiting for a Gondola to leave the Red Line when his father was just getting to a meeting with the Gorōsei??
Ch. 1086 p4
Wapol and Vivi are hiding in the Aegis' kingdom ship and arrange a way to go with Morgans. Good. That takes partial care of explaining how they ended up with Morgans. But the real question is how did left the Red Line? Did really no one go looking for them? It's ridiculous.
First the Revolutionaries show how anyone can infiltrate at Mariejoise and now multiple people show how anyone can escape as well. The humiliation is scandalous.
Wapol doesn't want to tell Vivi about Imu or his dead father because he's sure CP0 are trying to kill him. That doesn't make sense. If you're sure they're going to kill you you don't act in your future assassin's favor. If anything, trying to get as much attention as possible from the world is the way to go. It might fail, but there's a chance the attention could make Imu want to discredit Wapol rather than kill him and fuel the conspiracy theorists.
Ch. 1086 p5
With the recent announcement about Oda having eye surgery and him saying he couldn't see properly, it would be reasonable to consider how that could have affected his ability to draw.
Let me tell you the truth about two things:
  1. People with astigmatism don't become functionally blind until they have surgery correct their vision. They wear glasses and that's the end of it. Surgery will make Oda not need glasses, but that's all. The astigmatism wasn't preventing him from drawing at all.
  2. Look at the cover again. Oda can draw really well when he wants. Look now at this page. It's difficult to know whether it's king Stelly in the first panel or not because he's as much of a scribble as Sabo's picture, that might be a legit scribble.
Spandam, Gismonda ans some other agents are lookinig for Vivi and Sabo, but not the former CP9 members, who had Vivi in their custody and lost her. Also, where's Rob Lucci and what's he doing? Is he completely ignoring his duty as well?
Ch. 956 p9
So... Stelly was staring so hard at Vivi's poster that he didn't see Sabo's poster and couldn't listen to anything regarding the terrorist attack lead by his brother despite the whole Mariejoise was being searched for him. Interesting.
Ch. 1086 p6
The gorōsei pick up the ringing den den mushi. This is the only relevant thing happening in this whole page.
The narrator puts emphasis on Cobra's death and Vivi's disappearance but not on the clash between the Revolutionaries and the admirals. Why is that? It's to bolster the retcon'd timeline.
Ch. 925 p9 & 10_11
Remember that back in chapter 925, the highlight about the Reverie was the clash between the Revolutionary Army and the admirals. And it was said to happen during the 4th day of the Reverie. However, in this and the immediately previous chapters, events are happening during the 7th day (the last).
Another detail is that then the silhouettes indicated that the news included Sabo fighting the admirals, but during this recent flashback, Sabo didn't even met them.
Ch.. 956 p4
Then, in ch. 956 Garp explains that the incident with Cobra happens after the Reverie ended. That clearly separates the operation of the Revolutionary army (4th day) and Cobra's death (+7th day).
At the same time, Garp says that happened after they left, and that it was reported to him even later. And asks Neptune and his family not to fear humans because of it.
This and Shirahoshi's reaction make sense only if they had no better reasons to fear humans, like Shirahoshi being assaulted a second time by Charloss, and if Shirahoshi bid farewell to Vivi while everything was fine and now she's surprised to hear that.
But that's not what the recent flashback tells us.
Ch. 1086 p7
Contrary to last page, this one has mane things to consider.
Imu wants to "test" the "Mother Flame", a Vegapunk's invention, and the Saturn says they haven't had the chance to try it yet. Another gorōsei suggests a forest for the test but Imu wants "Lulucia" kingdom. The gorōsei show concern for the choice but at no point they question it.
We will see in the next page that they're talking about the weapon that destroyed Lulucia kingdom. And the first thing that calls for my attention is that the gorōsei look like complete amateurs here.
They've had a mass destruction weapon for "some" time, but haven't tested it yet. Can you imagine how many things could go wrong when trying new technology for the very first time? But don't be fooled, Imu doesn't want to "test" it. She wants to use it.
The gorōsei have been waiting with such a weapon in their power without testing it because...?? It's obvious that there must be a lot of places in the world were Imu, the gorōsei and the World Government in general should be perfectly fine with testing the Mother Flame, from certain uninhabited areas of the Red Line, to unaffiliated countries and from the top of my head, if anything else, Punk Hazard comes to mind. A government island they think is closed off because Akainu and Aokiji made it useless. It's the perfect place to test these kind of things. But they think they've had "no chance to try it yet". Sure.
In an attempt to defend Vegapunk from the undeniable increasing evidence of his evilness, I read some say the weapon is not "he Mother Flame" but "Uranus" and that the Mother Flame is only a power source.
That makes even less sense. First, because Imu clearly instructs to use the Mother Flame and not Uranus. And second because there's no way they can actually think they haven't had the chance to try a power source
Ch. 1086 p8_9
Imu answers about the reason to choose Lulucia and the five gorōsei are formally introduced. And three things stand out to me:
  1. They're named after planets of the solar system (other than the ones already used lol) and at the same time, they're not. There's Saturn and Mars, but there's also Ju Peter and V. Nasjūrō, who read like Jupiter and Venus + japanese traditional name ending. And lastly there's Valcury, who by elimination and obvious similarity should reference Mercury, but this one is clearly different. And I wonder if this is Oda wanting to name the gorōsei after planets and at the same time being obsessed with being unpredictable.
  2. With this names two middle names are introduced: "Ju" and "V.". So far, only "D." has been a thing. It was odd enough if you think about it, but the fact that now two more exist and that they do so in order to not write the name exactly like the planet feels quite odd to me as well.
  3. What is this "warrior god" thing? What does that even mean for them? I mean, I understand what "warrior god" means, but what's an "agriculture warrior god" or a "finance warrior god"??
Has Jupiter ever waged war in the name of agriculture or something like that? I get it, it's something meant to assign specific roles to each of them despite they have acted like a council for 1086 chapters, but wouldn't it make more sense to be "finance god" and "justice god" instead without the "warrior" part?
Also, do they really have any authority over their "department"? Last page showed they are nothing but the butlers of Imu. It's difficult to imagine they have agency.
To me, this looks like the upteenth attempt at hyping us for nothing. First, people living in Mariejoise were titled "World Nobles". Then they were rebranded as "Celestial Dragons". And recently they've been rebranded again as "Gods". And for no reason and without explanation. Just the narrator coming up with new ways to extol them. But at the end of the day, words are just that and so far, even the gorōsei have only prooved (this chapter too) to be very incompetent.
Now that I think about it...

Imu says Lulucia has been chosen for proximity alone. So, officially, both the fact that Sabo had gone there and that the country had rebelled aren't the reason. I wonder whether Imu's answer is just a way of saying the gorōsei to not even ask for explanations and just obey or actually a whimsical and very plot convenient occurrence.
The gorōsei note the convenience of being able to use the Mother Flame "freely" and I'm sure they're not talking about authorization, because Imu rules the world, but about the cost. Certainly the Mother Flame must consume a lot of energy. If only they had some scientist trying to develop a troll-science self´-sustaining power source, right?
Well, they got one but they're very heeadstrong in killing him, for some reason.
Ch. 1086 p10
We get to see the seraphim we hadn't yet seen. I don't think there's anything relevant in this page, but I've read some people arguing S-Croc could be a girl, you know, the old theory about Crocodile being originally a woman since Ivankov said he made Croc a huge favor, even though it could actually be anything else.
Personally I don't think S-Croc has particularly female traits in this image, but it's true that he has the same starry eyes as S-Snake, while S-Shark and S-Hawk do not (the others haven't shown their eyes). But if I had to guess, I'd put my money in Oda has decided to always have at least one gender-ambiguous character to troll the readers with left and right.
Ch. 1086 p11
Sabo telling more of what we already knew and saw.
Ch. 1086 p12
And this page is again, dedicated to justify the retcon'd timeline as though it was not.
Back in chapter 1060 (that's the beginning of this very arc, do you still remember what this is arc was about?), Sabo was at Lulucia when the annihilation happened.
Ch. 1060 p13, 14_15 & 16
We saw him as we were only seeing Lulucia and its citizens being shot by the Mother Flame and also the call ending abruptly immediately after the shot.
Now, Sabo says he was near, but not exactly there. And tries to explain the ending call saying it was an indirect call that was "rerouted" through another den den mushi on Lulucia.
First I wonder how do you do that from a ship? It's true that the specifics about how den den mushi are operated have never been told, but regardless, if this "rerouting" were a thing, surely it would have come in handy to many characters through the story before.
Also, since when can Marines (or any third party) locate den den mushi? They have been able to intercept communications and listen to them, but not guess where was any of the snails making the call. And even if they could, given he himself says it was not an encrypted den den mushi, hence being vulnerable to interception, why wouldn't they locate the original signal from Sabo just like the one at Lulucia?
Ch. 1086 p13
I don't remember Lulucia's name being romanized before, but it can be read in the ship's sail. It's written with a C (until another assistant thinks otherwise at least).
Sabo rules out living thing and natural disaster as the cause for Lulucia's annihilation and Ivankov pretty much implies Imu is someone from the void century who has lived this long because she's immortal thanks to the Ope Ope no mi.
Regarding Sabo's claim, I think we've seen all sorts of surreal things in One Piece to agree his assumption is very bold. A shadow in the sky is no indicator of no living thing or natural disaster. In fact we've seen shadows in the sky caused no more and no less by living beings and natural phenomena.
Ch. 299 p12_13
On his part, Ivankov's assumption is also quite bold. Does a name really reference one single instance of a living being? There can only have ever been one Imu? What about one Oars?
There's also plenty of people known for their outstanding longevity like Kureha. (Interesting that this made me think of her...)
It's true that Ivankov accounts for the name being not truly a reason next page, but the fact that he implies it with this force under an argument he knows is very weak... This is just Oda telling us "this is this way because a character is saying it" or trolling us for fun.
Ch. 1086 p14
Also, as I said last chapter, anyone can know of Imu and it was completely unreasonable of Imu not to tell Cobra about her, considering they were going to kill him no matter what and she said she was going to address his questions.
Could anyone else than Imu from 800 years ago be the one commanding the gorōsei? Why not? What kind of reasoning is that?
Next Ivankov makes his best guess of the day and claims Vegapunk must have created the Mother Flame (confirmed some pages ago by Imu). And it's now of all assumptions that Dragon intervenes to stop jumping to conclusions. Really??
"Vegapunk would never intentionally design a dedicated killing machine". What kind of joke is this?
  1. Kuma
  2. Mass-produced Pacifista model 1
  3. Mass-produced Pacifista model 2
  4. Mass-produced Pacifista model 3
  5. Seraphim
And after this and out of absolutely nowhere, they speak of ancient weapons. This page and the previous one is some of the most forced text I've seen in One Piece.
Ch. 1086 p15
For the final page of the chapter (yes, 15 pages only again, 2 of them cover), a new character makes his debut by sentencing to death Saint Donquixote Mjosgard.
He's named Saint Figarland Garling and is said to have been king of God Valley. Unlike everyone else, apparently, I'm not going to theorize about his relationship with Shanks, I want to talk to you about two other characters.
First, Dr. Kureha.
Ch. 154 p8
She looks just like she was Garling's twin sister. It's interesting, because a couple of pages back the matter of longevity was brought up and now we see a world noble said to have been king of a land outside Mariejoise and outside the Red Line. As we've been told in a number of occasions (last one being last chapter), only the Nefertari family were founders of the World Government who stayed at their homeland. This means if Garling was actually king of God Valley and not just a descendant of the last king, he's from the void century. Not as an hypothesis like with Imu, but confirmed. Thus, the simmilarities with Dr. Kureha aren't just physical. Both have incredible longevity and I think it was worth noting.
Last, I want to talk about Garling's predecessor: Crescent moon Gally.
https://preview.redd.it/pst3taqyc85b1.png?width=548&format=png&auto=webp&s=cd252883d36d4c0c3ae546f045bb46fead21c52e
He's the villain in the first version of the Romance Dawn oneshot that would later become One Piece. As you can see, The crescent moon motive in the hair is there just like with Garling (and the nose too). If you take the crescent moon out of the hat and apply it to the hair together with the beard, and change the mustache stretching to the sides for more hair to make it more exaggerated, you get Garling. Even the pose and facial expression is pretty much the one in this image.
Also, in his original name written in japanese, there's no indication of whether his name is "GaRling" or just "Galling".
And that would be... Oh! I almost forgot! Yeah... given Garling sentenced Mjosgard, where does this leave Saint Topman Valcury? Wasn't he the "Justice warrior god"? Why isn't he the one handing out justice? What other affairs regarding justice does he manage if not judging disputes among celestial dragons?

2023.06.10 20:10 deathdragon1013 Dm advice

So recently I have had a lot if change in the party composition. The main story line that was going on was one of my players was from town that just disappeared off the face of the planet, and they were trying to find out how to fix it, while they were looking for their wife, who had an unborn child. While one of the other party members was from the future and was sent to the past by the "goddess of time" to fix some of the fractures in the timeline (as I'm writing this I'm realizing how much this seems like Loki, or the new spider verse). The player who is looking for his family finds the other player in the forests and it turns out its their child, they kept this a secret for a while.
The child finds this out later, and then when the child touches a cursed weapon and falls under its curse, the father sacrifices himself as the party killed the child on accident (they said non lethal damage, but thematically it didn't really make sense), the only way in which the child could be saved was if the town, which they earlier learned was in a time bubble in hell, was saved, as they were being born in this hell. I had him open a portal to hell and use all of his life force, which was connected to his powers of chronomancy, to save the people. So now that the timeline was "restored" the child returned to their time.
So long story short the two players that I had most of the story based around are now gone and my party members have gone from the original 6 to only one of the original characters, and now I'm stuck on what to do. I'm currently running a war arc, in which the party is protecting the city they are housed in is going to be under seige by an armybof monsters, one very similar to the one from the drizzt book "The Crystal Shard," and I'm at loss at what to do next, I planned on taking these characters to a higher level and they are currently only level 6. Not sure what to do after this and most of the players are still getting into their new characters.
My next thoughts are to have them go on an adventure that explore the world, but I really don't have a lot of the rest of the world built, just the country they are in and one other country that one of the players are from.
So I guess I'm asking is what resources could I use to make more of the world feel flushed out. And what would you guys recommend for naval combat or just naval fairing general.
Sorry I know this is a long post and it might not make you much sense, so just ask any questions.

2023.06.10 20:09 wes_summers For fans who have stopped watching (and possibly come back since, or just rewatch) what turned you off of the show?

Spoiler tagging just in case.
I first stopped watching when the COVID episodes were airing. It became a little too preachy for a TV show that was wasting a TON of PPE, for my taste. Most of the characters I really loved were long gone, and Teddy was butchered by the writers when she returned, just an absolute mess of character "development" that I couldn't bear to watch. I tuned back in months later when I heard Meredith was meeting dead people on a beach, but I haven't seen anything since DeLuca died... So probably 2 seasons now?
I'm currently rewatching from the beginning (again!) and I'm almost to the end of season 13 and I just... I think I might give up again. I was originally planning to catch all the way back up, but this show has gone off the rails for me. Plus I heard Meredith eventually leaves the show?! Bruh I didn't sign up for Hunt's Anatomy 😭😭 I'm so exhausted with seeing that man everywhere, constantly screeching at people and punching patients + doctors, walking in on his family members' surgeries and no one tells him to fuck off, I'm over it. And I haven't even gotten to Amelia's pregnancy!
So for anyone who loves the show but has stopped watching temporarily or permanently, what motivated you to step away?

Phaedra cosigning controversial post
This picture was circulating last night and I’ve checked Yung Joc’s original post this morning and there was no like from Phaedra. So the picture could have been edited or Phaedra has unliked since. But just wanted to read your opinions on this take. As a member of the LGBTQ+ member and supporter of drag queens, I would definitely take offense to this because with their platforms its sending a horrible message with or without context/explanation.

Recognize Suspicious Activity

What is Suspicious Activity?

Suspicious activity is any observed behavior that may indicate pre-operational planning associated with terrorism or terrorism-related crime. With the help of the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI), the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has identified common signs of terrorism-related suspicious activity. Some activities could be innocent, but trained law enforcement officials can determine whether the behavior warrants further action.
Remember: Factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity are not suspicious. A cornerstone of the DHS mission is ensuring that people’s civil rights and civil liberties are not diminished by our security efforts, activities, and programs. 2023.06.10 19:52 IntroductionSome8196 I finished Trails in the Sky SC

I'm back after finishing Sky SC so these are my thoughts on the game and on these characters so far.
I have to say that I like how this game begins literally the second after the first one ends. I haven't seen many games that do that and it's definitely a great way to start.
In general, the pacing feels much more structured than in the first one and I like how it never feels like the characters are wandering without anything to do, there's always something going on, and since that was one of the things I didn't enjoy from the first I'm glad it got fixed.
I also feel like the story is much better, Ouroboros are a great cast of villains and I love how threatening they feel throughout the entire game. You can see how they're much stronger than the protagonists and how they're just toying with them every time they meet. And even when you finally manage to beat them it doesn't feel like the main cast is suddenly so much stronger, they won mainly because they outnumbered them and it was still a really close fight.
My personal favorites were definitely Walter and Luciola. Walter because his backstory is actually fairly tragic and I feel for the guy and Luciola since she feels the most evil of the enforcers (not counting Weissman since he isn't one) and I like a good female villain with little redeeming qualities since there aren't that many of those out there (I really hope they don't try to make her good in the future because as far as her backstory goes, she has no excuse for what she did).
Bleublanc was cool and I love how he had multiple riddle sidequests throughout the game but I feel like I just don't know enough about him to really like him, I guess that's part of his gimmick but I hope we get to delve a little deeper into his character in future games.
when it comes to Renne I just couldn't take her seriously, same with Joshua actually. I've always disliked the trope of literal children who are just extremely powerful fighters because no matter how they try to justify it it just never works for me and in this case, they didn't even try. They seriously expect me to believe that a 9-year-old managed to go toe to toe with Cassius and even gave him some trouble before losing? I'm sorry but that's just dumb, and Trails isn't the only series that does it but still, it's such a stupid trope. Her story was pretty tragic, and I like the character but I still find her kinda ridiculous.
Loewe was great only until his final fight with Joshua. I seriously didn't like how he switched sides so easily, this dude has been building his personal philosophy for years and he just decides to do a complete 180 after an extremely brief conversation with Joshua? Sorry but after beating that part I watched that scene on youtube a couple of times to better analyze the conversation and it just feels so out of nowhere. That completely ruined the character for me.
Now for the party members:
Olivier's twist about being an Erebonian prince was probably one of the best moments of the game for me, I never saw that coming since I thought he was just gonna be some important military or political figure but not THAT important. I also loved Zin's development during the game, he has become one of my favorites by far and I really wanna learn more about him.
Schera and Agate's backstories were presented in a great way. Their respective chapters were some of the best parts of the game by far and I've gained a much bigger appreciation for both of them.
Kevin was extremely intriguing and that last scene with Weissman (who was an amazing villain btw) was great. It seems like religion is a much more important part of this world than I initially thought and they can be kind of ruthless with it. Makes me wonder if there's something similar to an inquisition on the continent. Anyways can't wait to play with him as the protagonist in the next game since he seems much more morally grey than Estelle or Joshua.
As for the other party members, I don't have much to say since my opinion of them either hasn't changed or I don't have much to say. I will say however that a lot of people said that Kloe gets a bunch of character development here but I just didn't see it. I still find her kinda boring and my opinion about her is still pretty much the same.
A last thing I want to add is maybe something more personal but the romance between Estelle and Joshua just didn't click for me. First of all, I find it a little uncomfortable since they're siblings (yeah not related by blood but still) and also I just don't see why they like each other, it feels that during the first game, Estelle just gets feelings for him out of nowhere since originally she dismissed the idea and Joshua just says that he fell in love at first sight which is such a cliche and completely unrealistic. I genuinely feel like their relationship would've been much better if they built it around them being brother and sister and not lovers. But I guess that may just be me and I can kinda see why people may like this couple.
Overall I loved this game much more than the first one (which I already liked a lot) and I'm really curious to see how this trilogy ends. Thanks for reading.
Side note. Why is the next game called Sky the 3rd and not Sky TC? It seems like a no-brainer to me.

2023.06.10 19:51 Eskerna_Luka The harmful side of the LGBTQ+ movement (very long post, take time).

Me and my friends have been studying and interacting with the LGBTQ+ offline and online for years. This article sums up our views towards some LGBTQ+-related issues. However, before coming to address that, I must insist on taking this position of mine without presuming that I am victimizing myself or intentionally unjustly painting the LGBTQ+ movement as a whole in bad image. The reason for this is that the people who instantly jump into such conclusions are also parts of the problem I am going to talk about. This post is going to be political (not American politics or online teenage banter), so if you are not happy to dwell into this area, decide for yourself before continuing.
Firstly, I would like to point out how oversexual many LGBTQ+ members are. By this, I do not mean that they must not argue for their rights, nor do I mean that every conversation they talk is about LGBTQ+ rights. Some people would take that as a reason to say the LGBTQ+ is forcing LGBTQ+ to their throats, but I do not think so. Our (me and my pals) problem is that almost every conversation which these LGBTQ+ folks participate in, they bring up wild sex without any sort of manner. Although they are not provoking us or something, neither is it that me and the fellers do not enjoy sex and attempt to find out the best methods for the finest sex, but we do not treat our daily life as mere sex. I also understand some non-LGBTQ+ people do talk about sex as much as these folks I mentioned, but not in my country, and my environment.
Here is the tricky part. For the person reading this, you must understand that whether or not a person is open to sexual conversations is, especially if you are from Europe or the United States, you may be completely fine, or mostly fine with having such talks daily. You believe that behavior is just, which I understand, that is your culture. I am not from the West, me and the folks are from what Western commenters enjoy calling the "third world." We have a different culture from the West, pretty much every other nation has different cultures from the West. Even the West has different cultures from other Western countries. So what you think as just might not be just for other countries. For example, if in your country, having a lot of body counts is a virtue while not in another country, you are obligated to respect that. For us, it is not just at all to have such an unregulated amount of sexual comments during the chatter. This is also a fact for everything other than sex, which I feel that a lot of people cannot grasp.
Unaccusingly speaking, the LGBTQ+ movement originates from the West. There, LGBTQ+ people are open to sex alongside a bunch of other stuff other cultures condemn. They talk about sex freely, and enjoy it freely. You can find a lot of articles from LGBTQ+ writers promoting sex and sexual styles. I understand, you do you in your country. The point is that Western powers colonized my country during the colonial era and it was also them who introduced the prostitutes and sexualized our women, as well as breaking our traditions and suppressing our religions and beliefs, while importing that of the West. The whole deal with the LGBTQ+ members in my country being too open towards sex seems a bit too familiar, considering the entirety of their lives surrounds what people from Western countries do. It is always "Western people do that, let us do that too." On LGBTQ+ subreddits, it is also very common for writers to condemn nations who have an apparently less open approach towards the LGBTQ+ movement. We can see a pattern of what the elites of a certain LGBTQ+ community have been attempting.
However, Western or not, globalization is happening and it is not only the West's culture that is affecting ours. We have viewed this through the lens of the struggle between nations, and it is only the matter of whether or not the readers of this post has done the same before coming to conclusions.
Secondly, it happens to an amount of LGBTQ+ people that somehow they are the center of the universe. Again, this is not meant to say that they do not have the right to address their oppression, however, I do believe this is both common for my country and the world that some LGBTQ+ folks are too egoistic for society's good. What I am trying to make clear is that, for example, my friend has been asked by a gay man whether or not he would want to date a gay man. He said no, and in a conversation with me, this gay person said my friend was just being jealous of not being as manly as he is. LGBTQ+ supporter pals also seem to cherish this guy's thoughts.
When men disagree with LGBTQ+ agendas, it is common for them to receive insults that they "are not a real man" from the community. When women do that, they also receive similar insults. It is a hypocrisy to fight for gender and sexual equality and liberation, but consider oneself the only true and just, while the others are mere barbarians looking for enlightenment.
Thirdly, a few LGBTQ+ sexual harassers have been rather more creepy than the average non-LGBTQ+ creeps, and they know how to take advantage of the LGBTQ+ movement. For instance, a few months ago, my middle-aged male colleague once was almost taken advantage of by a young male "genderfluid" person. It was at the end of the shift, and we were going home for lunch to prepare for the afternoon shift. I heard a lot of shouting voices from the department he worked in. It turned out that this genderfluid individual came to him and asked to have sex with him. He, of course, as much as he respected our culture and his duty to his wife and children, refused. The gender fluid person then grabbed his arm and insisted on having sex. My colleague, again, calmly said no. The other person had a breakdown and started calling my colleague a creep who been creeping on them for a long time. Other people heard the shouting and surrounded them. Insults were beginning to be thrown towards my colleague, a few people even went so far as to push my colleague around. It was only until the guards came that the truth was told. That genderfluid person did not come to work that afternoon. Our boss came to us and asked for what happened, he showed us screenshots of the genderfluid person claiming that we ganged up on him, sexually harassed him, insulted him, and attacked him physically. When our boss showed us the chat, the person has already unsent all of their messages.
This behavior is, to be honest, not uncommon at all. Online LGBTQ+ members and supporters have the same behavior when their agendas are questioned, or people dislike certain traits of their personalities, or when their wrongdoings are justly brought out to the light. Celebrities like Erza Miller have had similar breakdowns. Even certain United States politicians do that. Breakdowns are common for rude and egoistic people, but when gender, sexuality and a gender-based political movement is used as the justification, it is a much greater problem. Some people say such behaviors are understandable, because they root in the LGBTQ+'s oppression and mental health problems caused by abuse. That argument is but sophism.
Last but not least, it strikes us that certain parts of the pro-LGBTQ+ arguments usually found on online articles are misleading at best. For example, three years ago, movement supporters focused on attempting to prove that being an LGBTQ+ person was a biological necessity, however, a lot of LGBTQ+ members have now considered it to be simply a choice. In fact, it is a choice. Some members of the older generations also have sexual urges the LGBTQ+ have. However, they still decide to be the traditional male-female, male-to-female, and female-to-male. Supporters claim our parental generations are usually male-female only because the LGBTQ+ was more oppressed back then. However, this argument presumes that the older generations feel oppressed for not having the right to be the LGBTQ+, which is a fallacy.
It is a matter of fact that many people only become the LGBTQ+ after they have seen articles, or heard other people, or seen members of the movement promoting it. People usually adopt lifestyles they consider new, alien and exotic. In this day and age, that mentality is even more prominent than ever. It should not be hard to understand that lots of people only adopt LGBTQ+ lifestyles after they have seen it. This is not to mention that lots of teens and children are being groomed to become parts of the LGBTQ+ too.
Supporters give the argument that the media helps LGBTQ+ people find out their sexuality and gender. However, this argument makes the assumption that people are already LGBTQ+, which is also a fallacy. While there are a few (in contradiction to the numerous LGBTQ+ folks claiming to be nowadays) people who do have certain feelings leaning towards an LGBTQ+ lifestyle, as I have said, they can choose. In conclusion, the articles are not intended to "help" people "find out" anything, rather, they are written to lead people to adopt the intended sexuality and gender.
Another point to give is how some individuals only seem to have become more sensitive, felt upset, or go so far as to get depressed over gender issues after they have seen the media presenting them in such light. While it is true that a lot of people are harassed for being parts of the movement, however, if you pay attention, it is evident that the media has been influencing people to adopt extreme feelings. Notice the words that are used, the statistics, the images, the stories, the so-called evidences. Most articles are but designed.
That is all we have to say. You tell us what you think in the comment.

2023.06.10 19:39 Ok_Elephant_8319 Magic Weaving - Sigils

This is an extension of my Magic Weaving post.
Sigils are what I guess would be advanced templates for weaving magic spells. Unlike regular spells, which can be made from something like experimentation, Sigils are created spontaneously by an individual, often during important moments in Nocturne's history, or when a witch reaches a peak in their power.
However, in others cases, they materialize from the dying wish or vow of a witch. These Sigils would often be hidden in a place of significance or tied to an object important to the dead witch. Spectral Witches are known to have learned Sigils by coming in contact with a witch's ghost, and learn from them directly. The spell itself is tied to an aspect of the witch's life.
Each of the Core Covens (Blood, Abyss, Spectral) have their own Sigils that are passed down from one Coven leader to the next, either inherited or usurped. These sigils can be taught to lower ranking members, but will not be as powerful of the prime wielder.
To modify an existing Sigil is considered a very powerful feat, and happens in the case of the current wielder's will overpowering the origin's. An example was Imelda, the new Ichor Queen, creating a new version of the Sigil of Blood after her True Metamorphosis. The past version call still be used, but it will become not as powerful, or inert.
Shattering a Sigil a blasphemy with devastating effects, the prime example in Nocturne's history being the shattering of the Sigil of Soul which led to the Eclipse Wars. Even after it, fewer Spectral Witches have come into existence, and Magic has becoming Stagnant because the cycle's disruption.

2023.06.10 19:33 autotldr Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber, found dead in his prison cell

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 38%. (I'm a bot)
Ted Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber, has been found dead in his jail cell by prison officers, US media says, citing prison officials.
Kaczynski, 81, was discovered early on Saturday at a federal prison medical facility in North Carolina.
Prison guards at the North Carolina facility discovered Kaczynski's body this at around 08:00 local time, US media reported.
Before suffering from declining health which prompted his transfer to the facility in December 2021, he had been held at the federal Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado, since May 1998.
Kaczynski was a man who fascinated America for decades and his violent campaign, which left a number of his victims permanently maimed.
