2023.06.08 10:10 Successful_Junket433 Going into this trade
Hey everyone first i’m considering this trade but I see a lot of opinions about it. I live in california so everything here sucks but I was looking into being an electrician. I saw all the benefits and the pay and everything but I also heard about the hardship of school, training, mentorship and everything else and I just want an opinion on this trade. How long did it take to be in the spot your in right now? Was it worth it? If you can change something what would it be? Are you genuinely happy? I’ve also heard of some electricians becoming an apprentice for 5 years making minimum wage. I’m just trying to see if this trade will be for me. Thank you

2023.06.08 10:04 Lilperzon First day questions
I have my first day as a lifeguard on Friday and I’m working a short shift, but I have so many questions and I’m kinda freaking out because I feel like there are things I should know.
- What do you generally bring to your station as far as watefood/phone etc.
- I don’t know any of the whistle codes for EAP/Patron attention/guard attention, which I know are location specific but I feel like I should’ve been taught before my boss put me on the schedule. I haven’t been to any trainings or in-services yet, so I haven’t even had a chance to learn this stuff.
- I also don’t know what the protocols are for being on duty. Like am I able to get up from my station and walk along the pool deck? And will I be the only guard or one of two guards on duty for the entire 3 hour shift? What if I have to use the restroom or go get something?
- I also haven’t been given my uniform or whistle (which they supposedly ordered right after the interview which was 3 or so weeks ago) and don’t know if I should bring my own cpr mask or if they will provide me with one.
- I also have 4 shifts next week as a swim instructor which I have NO IDEA HOW TO DO I thought I would be taught and/or tested before I was placed on the schedule.
PLEASE HELP I AM STRESSINGGGGG

28.09.23 | Hakone | Arrive to Mishima Station, rent a car, Mishima Skywalk | Hakone-jinja Shrine, Owakudani Valley | Check in hotel at Gotenba |

Questions:
- Does anyone know the time the Mikoshi festival in Ikebukuro on 24.09.23 will start?
- Can you recommend any places to spend the evening near Tokyo Station?
- I understand that climbing on Fuji off season is prohibited and dangerous, so we won't try to reach the summit. I just wanted to know if going to the 5th station in 30.09 is Okay. I also read that you can Hike to Hoei Crater (which is near 6th station) on Fuji this time of year. Is hiking to Hoei Crater safe and doable? If not, are there any good hiking trails nearby?
- Is Nishiki Market in Kyoto open on Sundays? What else can we do on a Sunday in kyoto?
- Where can we spend the evening in Kyoto?
- Is a day trip to Enoshima from Yokohama doable? Is Enoshima Aquarium fun? If not, what else we can do in Yokohama?
- Can you recommend any affordable Matcha or Sushi workshops? We are both students so nothing fancy...
- Can you recommend on Pork-free Ramen and Gyoza? We do not eat Pork but would love to try.
Thank you for your help!

2023.06.08 09:48 yeetgod__ Just want to thank everybody who helped me with getting to the airport a few days ago
It was really a very stressful situation I had found myself in when I noticed that the time I would reach zurich train station from Liechtenstein was very close to my flight and you all were really phenomenal in suggesting various connections and whatnot. I especially appreciate those who even offered to drive me themselves or let me crash at their places in Zurich for a night if I missed my flight, these were all incredibly generous gestures. You all in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, whether natives or expatriates, are all very kind and I hope to visit again in the future.
If any of you are in Connecticut and face a time crunch to JFK airport or otherwise in a similar situation in New England, hmu! I will always be open to reciprocating the generosity.

2023.06.08 09:40 aphroditestherapist My McDonalds interview Experience
Note: I am a 16 year old female and live in Australia.
I will basically just note down the main points, feel free to ask questions in the comments.
- My interview lasted 5 minutes. The assistant restaurant manager asked me very simple questions (describe your self in 3 words, what school do you go to, what year are you in, whats your favourite and least favourite subject and why, why do you want to work at mcdonald’s, and whats your availability). I wore all black clothing.
- I got the acceptance email the same day (I done the interview at 4pm and I got accepted at 9pm)
- My orientation lasted around 2.5 hours and we just did online modules which took around 1.5 hours for me to complete. I also filled out documents about my personal information (address, number, TFN etc) I wore all black and so did the other people. I got paid for the orientation.
- My first training week was on fries, I got 2 training shifts then one actual shift. I got trained for dining & fries during this week.
- My second training week was on front counter, I got 2 training shifts for front counter then one actual shift at the end of the week.
- My third training week was on drive thru. I got 2 training shifts for drive thru and one actual shift at the end of the week. All training shifts were paid for.
- My drive thru trainer told me that after training we will only get shifts on fries for a few months, then we will only get shifts on front counter for a few months, then we will get drive thru shifts for a few months.
Additional notes:
- A very common question they would ask you is “why do you want to work at mcdonald’s” so I recommend preparing an answer for that beforehand.
- You don’t need to worry too much about your interview, theres a lot of turnover in fast food restaurants so they usually hire 10-15 people a month. In my case, they hired 6 people in the same week.
- I recommend checking out Stephen Patula on youtube because he has a lot of videos of himself working at mcdonald’s so you can see what kind of tasks they do, how to make and prepare the food and kind of what it’s like to work in the fast food industry.
- I was worried about learning the register and the menu so I kind of familiarised myself with the different menus (breakfast, lunch, happy meals, dinner boxes, mccafe menu etc) and what foods go in each menu. This helped me when learning the register.
- Fries is the easiest station to learn. Front counter might seem stressful in the beginning because you’re learning a lot of tasks at once but the more you do it the easier it gets. Honestly front counter is really fun for me now. Drive thru is probably the easiest station for me now.
- Drive thru person does the cashier job using a headset. At my restaurant, they also prepare (not cook) the hotcakes and wipe the walls when its not busy. Drive thru person will also occasionally help out on front counter and bring might bring the orders to the cars in the waiting area.
- When I first started I thought I wasn’t gonna last there because it was a bit stressful multitasking but I promise it gets easier. If you’re new you’re allowed to make mistakes! my trainer said it took her 2-3 months to learn the register and she is now a trainer so if you’re struggling do not worry, you will get it eventually.
- My trainer said once you get used to everything and you’re good at every station you were trained in you can ask them to train you on McCafe if that’s something that interests you.
- The most important thing to remember for your interview is to be confident, sit up straight, use hand gestures and don’t touch your hair or face. If you’re nervous it’s okay, just try your best and don’t overthink the negative stuff.
- I got paid for every shift (including training & orientation)
- The floors are wet so you must have non slip shoes. In terms of what to wear to your interview/orientation, I just wore a black button up and black pants, for orientation I wore a black long sleeve and black pants.
- If you plan on working long term (6 months+) it’s probably a good idea to make good friends there. Personally the crew members make every shift worth it! to make friends you just have to make an effort of talking to the team. In my store everyone gets along so well and they mess around a bit even near the managers (joking around, singing, casually chatting etc) You just have to make an effort to make friends.

2023.06.08 09:37 m8nman VAT refund if using bus?
I’m planning on moving from Paris to London by bus and Paris would be the last EU country i would be visiting. As far as i know, the VAT refund process is only available in the airport or train station. Does that mean bus-users are simply not able to request for VAT refund, or is it possible that i visit the station/airport just for the VAT refund and take the bus regardless? Would appreciate any help 🙏

2023.06.08 09:17 sherlishhhhh Are tone-up creams worth the money? The tone-up effect disappears after sweating moderately. Any recommendations for better tone-up creams or replacements?
I have been trying the Innisfree Cherry Blossom Tone-up Cream for a few days. The tone-up effect doesn't last long. I notice I'm back to having my dull, textured, blemished (acne) skin. The mild white/brightening effect disappeared. Could it be due to sweat? I live in a hot and humid country and I inevitably sweat after a 10mins walk to the train station.

2023.06.08 09:16 Kadoomed Fed up with people obsessing over more car parking spaces
All I ever see in my area are surveys saying we need more cheap car parking or people complaining about the lack of parking, instead of using their brains and realising there's just too many cars making unnecessary journeys.
More public transport and improved active travel are how we get people into town and cities, not more parking. But no, everything has to be about the car.
There was a big event yesterday looking at how to regenerate the main thoroughfare in Aberdeen and one of the solutions is more parking. Every bus in the region goes down this street and it's 5 minutes walk from the train station! It needs a bike lane not a car park!

2023.06.08 09:00 Electronic-Bobcat-34 11-Day Itinerary Check (June 22 - July 2)
Hi, I’m planning to visit Japan with my wife from June 22 to July 2, both inclusive. Planned the whole trip alone and needed a second pair of eyes to help me with some questions.
The whole trip plan is Tokyo → Kawaguchiko → Kyoto → Nara → Osaka → Tokyo, which takes 11 days (10 nights), includes 5 different hotels and 2 Shinkansen rides to and from Tokyo.
Day 1: June 22 (Arrival to Tokyo, Check-in, Shinjuku):
- Arrive at Narita Airport at 18:30 in the evening
- Train to the hotel in Shinjuku and check-in
- Explore Shinjuku district (Kabukicho area and Golden Gai St.)
Day 2: June 23 (Shinjuku district):
- Tokyo Metropolitan Building
- Shinjuku Gyoen Park
- Omoide Yokocho
Day 3: June 24 (Shibuya district):
- Shibuya Crossing and Mag’s Park
- Shibuya Scramble Square & Shibuya Sky
- Shibuya Hikarie Building- Shibuya Center St.
- Niku Yokocho
- Yoyogi Park
- Meiji Shrine
Day 4: June 25 (No plan, just have fun):
- Tsukiji market
- Starbucks Reserve Roastery Tokyo
- Just walk around
Day 5: June 26 (Kawaguchiko day trip):
- Check-out early morning (~06:00)
- Bus to Kawaguchiko station and check-in
- Arakurayama Sengen Shrine
- Chureito Pagoda
- Kachi Kachi Ropeway
- Rent a bike
- Oishi Park
Day 6: June 27 (Kyoto):
- Check-out early morning (~06:00)
- Shinkansen to Kyoto and check-in
- Ninenzaka Street
- Starbucks Ninenzaka
- Kiyomizu-dera Buddhist Temple
- Samurai & Ninja Museum
- Nishiki Market
- Mameshiba Cafe
Day 7: June 28 (Kyoto):
- Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
- Togetsukyo Bridge
- Iwatayama Peak
- Kyoto Gyoen National Garden
Day 8: June 29 (Nara & Osaka):
- Check-out early morning
- Train to Nara
- Nara Park & Todai-ji Temple until after lunch
- Train to Osaka and check-in at the hotel in the evening
- Dotonbori Street & Market
- Kurobon Ichiba Market
Day 9: June 30 (Osaka & back to Tokyo):
- Check-out from the hotel in the morning
- Explore Osaka for the rest of the day
- Umeda Sky Building
- Osaka Castle
- Shinsekai District
- Shinkansen to Tokyo in the early evening
- Check-in to hotel in Ginza
Day 10: July 1 (Tokyo):
- Godzilla statue
- Tokyo Tower
- Senso-Ji Temple
- Tokyo Skytree
Day 11: July 2 (Departure):
- Check-out from the hotel early morning
- Have fun in the Ginza area until lunchtime
- Train to Narita Airport at 13:00
You can see that a couple of days are not filled as the rest of them, and are just being used for having fun without a strict plan, as I could not come up with anything for those days on my own. My wife and I are not interested to visit popular stuff like USJ or Ghibli Park, or shopping, so it’s only exploring the cities and their attractions. We travel with two carry-on suitcases and on some days will be bringing them with us for the walks around a city (not a good idea?)
The only things booked for now are the hotels. I am not sure if I need to book Shinkansen and bus rides right now already, or if I should wait to get to Japan first. Also, I think we will not need JR Pass as we only travel on Shinkansen two times (to and from Tokyo), and the cost of those tickets will be cheaper than buying JR pass. I am not sure about route Kyoto → Nara → Osaka (does it benefit from JR pass?)
Also, what is the best way to get from Kawaguchiko to Kyoto in the early morning? Going down to Mishima and taking the train, or going back to Tokyo by bus and taking the train from there (which is faster according to google maps)?
What do you think? Please feel free to give any advice or recommendation on places and transportation. I am open to anything.

Hi everyone! I wanted to ask if it’s okay to put phlebotomy and IM injections for one of my jobs if I don’t have the certificate? I live in the state of California which I believe requires MAs to have certification/license for venipuncture. I was trained on the job but never received certification though. Would it be a red flag to put phlebotomy and IM injections as my job duties or should I just not risk it by not mentioning those at all?
Thank you!
