I’ll keep this very brief. Nuts and bolts logistics. What is considered fairly acceptable in a relationship?
Me (M, 31) and my gf of 2 years (F, 30)
I pay 100% of our household bills. Any “fun stuff” I have always paid 100%; Entertainment, travel (international), concerts, you name it. I’m fine with this and make enough $$$ to afford our lifestyle by myself. I work roughly 50 hrs a week in an office.
Gf works from home, 40 hrs per week.
Is it wrong of me to expect her 0% financial contribution to equate to the overwhelming majority of domestic work? I’m talking laundry, cleaning, cooking. That’s it. I round up the trash and take it out as is. She flat out refuses. Says she is “not my maid” and “shouldn’t have to take care of a grown adult”
I told her if she’s willing to contribute somewhat financially that I’d be willing to help with household chores. She’s never paid a bill for the house, at a restaurant, or anything else. My job is extremely mentally taxing, I run my entire business from logistics to finance to the dailies.
I offered for her to quit her job so she can focus on what she describes as an “overwhelming amount” of house work. The house is constantly a mess, dishes piled up, laundry never done or put away, smells funky. It’s a very nice place, 3BR (one we use as her office) and 2BA.
Am I in the wrong? She claims “I’d be paying all of these bills even if she wasn’t there anyway” and belittles what I go through in order to ensure that we maintain our standard of living. “Let’s run through the stuff we have to do daily and let’s see who has more on that list because I guarantee it’s me”. I feel as if I’m contributing more to our relationship than she is. I feel that paying for everything justifies her ensuring that our home is kept up with.
Obviously there’s much more to a relationship than bills and chores. I fully get that, but this is what we fight about mostly.

With not much “standard” sub-genres in this genre, I’ve went with my own! If you are new to the genre, here’s something that may help you make sense and pick up books to your liking.
What the heck do these sub-genres indicate?
GameLit is in general books which have elements which you might have seen or played in a game e.g skill trees, stat sheets etc. These elements may feature to varying extents, but present they will be! Now there are various permutations and combinations on how this will occur in a game and I’ll try to elaborate on some here
LitRPG is a sub-genre of GamLit and probably the catch all. Technically it is to capture books which feature the Role Playing (RPG) elements, but in practical use, LitRPG and GameLit are being used interchangeably.
But then, genres and titles are what we deem it to be. So pay less attention to the classifications and let’s get down to the books themselves.
Post/Apocalyptic Earth
Now, this is my favourite sub-genre! As the name indicates, books in this sub-genre takes place in relatively modern Earth. In most books, Earth has been assimilated into a bigger multi-planet universe is ruled by a “system” that implements game elements on all acquired worlds. Now this assimilation is mostly a forced takeover which usually results in death of vast swaths of humanity with the rest forced to adapt and fight for survival. Though the books start off with a ‘apocalypse’, being end of earth as we know now, the stories are post-apocalyptic survival in new Earth.
These are sweeping books which span over multiple geographies of current Earth and often venture out to space and include alien planets and species as Earth-people come to grasp with the macro “System”. It’s closest to epic fantasy and one which would include multiple game genres. You get the RPG elements of MC being forced into a leader of survivors leading them to salvation, RTS elements of MC forced to re-build towns/cities which were destroyed by the apocalypse and First Person Action elements where MC leads the fight against the ‘minions’ one vs one!
These are books where
– Much of the plot happens in a world that has game elements, and/or– Where the MC is from Earth but are transported to the above said magical world having game elements where they have their adventures, trials and tribunals.
Now, these are a [very] close second favourite of mine as they might have many of the features listed in earlier sub-genre, i.e. having RPG elements of MC being forced into a leader leading them to safety, RTS elements of MC forced to re-build towns/cities and First Person Action elements of MC leads the fight against the ‘minions’ one vs one!

Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games [VRMMORPG]
This is a set ins current/post-modern earth Earth where MC has access to ‘Total Immersion’ Virtual reality modules which connect directly to MC body/brain and provide a fully real life experience but in-game.I love this because this not only has full fantasy world experience, but may also include a side story of the game AI trying to gain sentience through in-game experiences, which adds a whole new dimension to the story.

These are stories where characters are often seen training to learn new techniques, finding ways to improve their existing skills, analyzing the skills of opponents, and/or gaining literal or figurative “levels” of power.
Progression in the subgenre title specifically refers to character power progression, not other types of progression (e.g. increasing wealth, noble rank, etc.) that occur in stories.”
You’d ideally see defined power levels that a character will have to progress as he travels to his objective.
Fantasy:
Science Fiction:
Cultivation Books is very similar to Progression, but we see higher degree of influence of Martial Arts where characters progressively get stronger by “cultivating” their own body. Most books are based on or have inspirations from concepts from Wuxia, Xianxia etc, though there are good books which port the same into a western Setting.
Slice of Life Fantasy
Books in this genre are set in a fantasy world and may have added elements of fantasy, GameLit, Progression or Cultivation but the focus is on a contemporary skill/job. e.g. the MC is a farmer or a cook and the plot focus is one day-to-day aspects of the job spiced up with game/fantasy elements. It’s a loveable niche genre that is the epitome of comfort reads guaranteed to put you in a blissful state of mind!
I’m actually clubbing two distinct sub-genres in here. Most of these books involve either time travel and/or climbing a tower with levels of different difficulty to achieve a objective. Each level features varying challenges and difficulty, making this close the game but very interesting nevertheless!
This sub-genre has books where the MC has become/reincarnated as a core controlling a dungeon and has to protect it’s inhabitants against people who want to invade/clear it. Fascinating sub-genre as we have a MC who’s a Dungeon Core and can’t interact with his subjects through normal means and provides a completely different perspective to people-management.
GameLit – Crafting Based
Now these are books purely focused on rafting elements. These are people who create stuff and not directly involved in fights like most other genres. This is a niche genre as these elements are usually included partly in other genres described above, but for enthusiasts, below are books which concentrate purely on crafting and intrigue associated with that (believe me, they are interesting!)

I have a 5.25qt fully clad saute pan. I was initially under the impression that these sorts of pans are not necessary, but I decided to get one anyways. Turns out they're pretty great. Larger cooking surface than a skillet, wide enough to conveniently boil spaghetti and the like without clumping, ONE POT MEALS for 2-4 people which I make ALL THE TIME. It's my most used SS cookware.

About a little over a month ago, I met a Taurus man. At first I assumed it was just going to be a fling one and done. However, from the get go and now a month and a half in he seems fully invested and puts time energy and effort in seeing me and doing things for me. Like cooking for me on our 3rd date, remembering little details, a gentleman, will talk hours with me about his life and just hang out near the fire pit or near the water. He has quite literally swept me off my feet and have never met a man like this.
That being said long story short, I have been having so much fun and he wants to do all the things with me and go to places with me but I don’t want to because he doesn’t want to commit to being in a relationship as I feel those are all things you do with a bf. He stated he has personal things in his life he’s dealing with and will travel back to his home country for over a year constantly. He said he doesn’t think someone who is in a relationship should be absent and should be present and be there with their partner instead of leaving for a year to a different country. It’s not fair to the person or relationship. He has stated a couple times when he was drunk that he doesn’t want to get too close or that he will begin to push me away.
He will be leaving to his country in September. I on the other hand am deciding to step away from seeing him for my own good, because I am developing a lot of feelings for someone who is not ready for a relationship. The sad part is, what he tells me doesn’t match the expressions on his face and the way he delivers it. It’s almost like he’s being resistant to his own feelings and lying to himself. Im really good at reading energy and that’s what I think is going on. 2023.06.08 18:07 throwaway_123936 My (26M) girlfriend (25F) of 6+ years is constantly threatening breakups, hardly helping around the house, arguing with me and wants to be put on my mortgage or it's over
I (26M) have been with my girlfriend (25F) for just over 6 years. The first two years were absolutely amazing, we constantly went on dates, spent quality time together, went on holidays, had sex multiple times per week, and went out of our way to spend time together, genuinely it just felt like how a strong healthy relationship should be. We used to joke about how easy our relationship was because we never argued and mainly agreed on everything.
Fast forward to us moving in together after 2 years of dating, we moved into a rented house and started arguing from the start, things such as me not pulling my weight, not helping enough, me being useless at everything, so over about 4-5 months I fixed that by taking on my fair share of jobs, helping more, being more engaged in conversations and learning to cook more than 2 meals. I also learnt how to be more open with my feelings and share them.
Another main point of contention was on two separate nights out drinking within one month of us moving in together, I was in a foul mood with everyone but somewhat took it out on her. She was rightfully upset and hurt, I apologised no end and told her it would never happen again, it hasn’t since. She kept bringing this up for at least the next 3 years though asking why I did it, and every time I would feel upset again and apologise.
She was majorly depressed and I “didn’t do enough to help and support her” - her words. At this point I was working fully remote (due to lockdown), and she was unemployed after university and wouldn’t get out of bed till past lunchtime and just sit on the sofa all day and gained a lot of weight (not an issue to me but she was very lazy). I tried to encourage her to go for walks but she wouldn't. She did help with some charity work I do though.
We got a cat who was quite entertaining through lockdown but she didn’t connect too well to him to start because of her depression, I was the only one feeding and cleaning the cat's litter tray.
I had some savings/inheritance so I bought a house for us to move into just over 2 years ago, we moved in, things were still a little on edge because “I didn’t make the home feel like hers” etc., but they were not as bad as they had been previously.
She was unemployed for 18 months in total, with me footing 80% of the bills (her dad paid her roughly £300 per month), she wouldn’t even look for a job because she didn’t know what she wanted to do, I felt that due to me not supporting her emotionally the least I could do was keep a roof over our heads and food on the table.
She has broken up with me multiple times, mainly because I “don’t support her enough” and “I’m not X Y or Z”. Every time she does this I panic, I worry a lot about being alone and being rejected/broken up with is the most awful feeling, so I would raise the case for how I’m going to change, how I will be better, how I know we can work things out, and every time she would agree, normally after some grovelling from me and we would move past it - just for her a few months later to break up with me again, and it go full circle. It feels like I’m always walking on eggshells to not annoy or upset her, sometimes she would break up with me multiple times a month and I would still ask for her to not break up with me. Often I would not fix everything wrong after one of these arguments/breakups but I have been incrementally getting better. She has been doing this ever since we moved in together.
She got a remote job just over a year ago and is paid reasonably well, things have somewhat improved, we have had big discussions around what we both want out of the relationship, kids, marriage etc. and we agree on almost all of it. She keeps pressuring me to add her to the mortgage and said it was an ultimatum, if I don’t then she will break up with me for the final time, I’m unsure I want to based on everything I have written in this post, I am just hoping it gets better so I feel like I can add her without any questions/doubts… We both contribute 50/50 towards my house as it is cheaper than her paying rent, when we moved in together I promised her I would add her to the mortgage after 2 years.
The house is in such a state because I have been the one cooking and making us food for the past year since she got a job (when she was unemployed she cooked most meals but I sorted the rest of the chores), I wash all the pots and pans, I still clean the cat's litter tray and feed them both, hoover, sort any routine jobs in the garden like mowing, do the washing/folding clothes, any other job around the house and food shop. She doesn’t even put her own pots in the kitchen so I have to pick them up from around the house otherwise they’ll go mouldy. She still gets mad at me that the house is a mess, we both work fully remote full time. I also go out to play sports 3 evenings a week - she doesn't do anything without me outside of work/the house, most of her evenings are spent watching YouTube. She also does not have a driver's licence, even though I have told her multiple times over the past 5 years I would teach her and her dad said he would pay for her lessons too.

Occasionally she will have a really productive week where she will help around the house, cook more, be nicer to me, talk about our future and goals we want to achieve etc. I have spoken to her about helping around the house more and she always says she does “more that I realise” or she “aches/is in too much pain”.
I wish breaking up was as easy as it sounds, I really do see a lot of potential in her and I know that we can be good together but I have been over every scenario in my head 1000 times.
I’m just not sure what to do at this point, I love her so much, and I know that we can be good together, she is the sweetest most caring person I know and she calms me down by talking things through if I ever get stressed over anything, she also helps by meticulously planning things. And sometimes I feel like her criticisms are valid, and do help me improve. Her friends and family like me a lot, as my friends and family like her too.
She also lets me know that she is trying to improve things, and I can notice that, a lot less arguments than before, more intimacy and some more help around the house, but I'm not sure if the damage has already been done.
I am in no way perfect, I have flaws and I am trying to improve by being more open, calm, helpful and understanding, but I am not perfect.
Where do I go from here? I cannot stop thinking about the past and am struggling to move forward. Any help/advice/stories would be appreciated. Posting this on a throwaway for obvious reasons.

Fast forward to us moving in together after 2 years of dating, we moved into a rented house and started arguing from the start, things such as me not pulling my weight, not helping enough, me being useless at everything, so over about 4-5 months I fixed that by taking on my fair share of jobs, helping more, being more engaged in conversations and learning to cook more than 2 meals. I also learnt how to be more open with my feelings and share them.
Another main point of contention was on two separate nights out drinking within one month of us moving in together, I was in a foul mood with everyone but somewhat took it out on her. She was rightfully upset and hurt, I apologised no end and told her it would never happen again, it hasn’t since. She kept bringing this up for at least the next 3 years though asking why I did it, and every time I would feel upset again and apologise.
She was majorly depressed and I “didn’t do enough to help and support her” - her words. At this point I was working fully remote (due to lockdown), and she was unemployed after university and wouldn’t get out of bed till past lunchtime and just sit on the sofa all day and gained a lot of weight (not an issue to me but she was very lazy). I tried to encourage her to go for walks but she wouldn't. She did help with some charity work I do though.
We got a cat who was quite entertaining through lockdown but she didn’t connect too well to him to start because of her depression, I was the only one feeding and cleaning the cat's litter tray.
I had some savings/inheritance so I bought a house for us to move into just over 2 years ago, we moved in, things were still a little on edge because “I didn’t make the home feel like hers” etc., but they were not as bad as they had been previously.
She was unemployed for 18 months in total, with me footing 80% of the bills (her dad paid her roughly £300 per month), she wouldn’t even look for a job because she didn’t know what she wanted to do, I felt that due to me not supporting her emotionally the least I could do was keep a roof over our heads and food on the table.
She has broken up with me multiple times, mainly because I “don’t support her enough” and “I’m not X Y or Z”. Every time she does this I panic, I worry a lot about being alone and being rejected/broken up with is the most awful feeling, so I would raise the case for how I’m going to change, how I will be better, how I know we can work things out, and every time she would agree, normally after some grovelling from me and we would move past it - just for her a few months later to break up with me again, and it go full circle. It feels like I’m always walking on eggshells to not annoy or upset her, sometimes she would break up with me multiple times a month and I would still ask for her to not break up with me. Often I would not fix everything wrong after one of these arguments/breakups but I have been incrementally getting better. She has been doing this ever since we moved in together.
She got a remote job just over a year ago and is paid reasonably well, things have somewhat improved, we have had big discussions around what we both want out of the relationship, kids, marriage etc. and we agree on almost all of it. She keeps pressuring me to add her to the mortgage and said it was an ultimatum, if I don’t then she will break up with me for the final time, I’m unsure I want to based on everything I have written in this post, I am just hoping it gets better so I feel like I can add her without any questions/doubts… We both contribute 50/50 towards my house as it is cheaper than her paying rent, when we moved in together I promised her I would add her to the mortgage after 2 years.
The house is in such a state because I have been the one cooking and making us food for the past year since she got a job (when she was unemployed she cooked most meals but I sorted the rest of the chores), I wash all the pots and pans, I still clean the cat's litter tray and feed them both, hoover, sort any routine jobs in the garden like mowing, do the washing/folding clothes, any other job around the house and food shop. She doesn’t even put her own pots in the kitchen so I have to pick them up from around the house otherwise they’ll go mouldy. She still gets mad at me that the house is a mess, we both work fully remote full time. I also go out to play sports 3 evenings a week - she doesn't do anything without me outside of work/the house, most of her evenings are spent watching YouTube. She also does not have a driver's licence, even though I have told her multiple times over the past 5 years I would teach her and her dad said he would pay for her lessons too.

The mods here at A Year of Mythology have decided that we will be joining the site-wide subreddit blackout from June 12 - 14. This means that we will be locking the sub during this time, which will temporarily mean you won't be able to see posts or comments here.
As the protest is an ongoing situation, our schedule may be subject to change. At the moment, the dates mentioned do not directly impact our intended schedule. Should more dates be added to the blackout schedule that interfere with our planned posts we will act accordingly and hold off on posting on those dates. For now, we will still be starting our reading of The Iliad next week and we will go ahead with our posting/reading schedule. I will also still be posting a context post for the Iliad before the blackout, just to clarify some things about the story and provide an outline of the major characters.
We are aware that we are not a huge or busy sub but we want to show our support for this movement in whatever way we can. We believe that accessibility is important and that Reddit should be open to everyone.
TLDR: Reddit recently announced that they are going to change their policy concerning third party apps and from next week onwards they intend to charge these apps a lot of money in order to stay functional. On the surface, that may sound okay but the main issue is that Reddit - and it's own mobile app - do not provide the accessibility features disabled users need in order to use or enjoy the site. Communities such as Blind will be especially disrupted should these policies come to pass.

On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.

- Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord- but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
- Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
- Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.

So I'm a teen right? I'm 15 and I live with 5 other people, my dad cooks for us most nights. I've realized veganism is the only ethical way to live, however, NOTHING IN THIS IS FUCKING VEGAN?? Bread? MILK. Peanut butter? HONEY. Milk? ITS ANIMAL BASED.
You'd think, "oh that's ok! You can just eat the vegetables you dad makes you!" You'd be wrong. Why? DAD PUTS PORK SEASONING IN FUCKING EVERYTHING. There's dead pig in everything thing my dad eats, and I can't avoid it because I'm a recovered anorexic so dad might think I've relapsed.
The only way for me to eat vegan is if I eat nothing but canned vegetables. Which is what I've been doing, and is fine because I like the vegetables we have, but I'd still like something else you know?
In the bright side, I'm joining to be moving to a residential high school soon so hopefully I can fully embrace my vegan self! :)

2023.06.08 17:28 Classic-Radish2532 I called MIL a terrible person and said she will longer be able to see my kids. Am I an A-hole?
I live with my MIL right now. Been here since basically December 2022, with OH (32M), D7 and S1. My SIL, her D5, S1, and her boyfriend moved in also, all around the same time.
I'll try to keep the story as short as I can, but it'll be difficult.
To start things off, we were told SILs new boyfriend would stay a couple nights after driving SILs car up for her. He stayed 3 months. He left for 2 months, and he has back living with us since March 2023. MIL and SIL decided that SIL should be able to manipulate and gaslight everyone into thinking that we all said it was ok. I had experienced abuse as a child, and OH and I always said no to having random guy that SIL only knew 4 months, only dated for 5 weeks, moving in. We were asked if it would be ok prior to his driving the car up, and I assume that they thought we would just be ok, and MIL backflipped and said we no longer have the right to decide. When I disclosed the abuse to SIL, the only response I got was an angry "Then you can go stay in a hotel!"
F&@! me. So angry having to type any of this stupid sh!t out.
SIL is lazy. Entitled. Believes she is gods gift to everyone. She has no friends, judges everyone harshly, comments on my children and tries to parent over the top of me, amongst other things. MIL is as dumb as they come. She is a big-headed idiot, but she married well, and is essentially a multi-millionaire now, because her hard-working late husband left her everything. She acts like she is extremely fancy, despite living in a disgusting house, literally had mould on the walls and doors before we moved in. Dust, mildew, garbage, clutter, is the "theme" of this house. Fine. Whatever. They live differently to me. However, as much as my OH and I have compromised with these people, and sacrificed our time to make things better for everyone, SIL and MIL deny any compromises or sacrifices ever existed!
I did not know they were this bad prior to agreeing to move in. We moved in to save money for a house deposit. We offered $200/week board, as a starting point. MIL said no to money, even when we pressed, and she wanted my partner, who works full-time M-F, to spend 8 hours EVERY WEEKEND gardening for her instead. We said no, of course, as that is unreasonable. We pay a third of the household bills instead, and OH does a few hours in the garden a month.
SIL I thought was pretty high on narcissism spectrum prior to moving in, but I had never spent so much time with her (only like max maybe 7-10 days over holidays, prior to this). She only ever talks about how she had good grades in school 10 years ago, or how people who did better than her didn't deserve it. She is a failed musician. She sits and plays Wii U most of the time or watches TV or spends the entire day at the shops. Her children are basically neglected; they don't get bathed regularly (her youngest went his first 3 months without a single bath, and he ended up with a hair wrapped around his toe and needed surgery to get it off - SIL blames her, now, ex-partner for not checking toes during nappy changes). Her 5 year old has some sort of stomach infection right now (lasting over 3 weeks, I believe) because of how filthy SIL is. She only changes their clothing if they get wet, basically. I have seen them wear the same clothes, even to bed, all week long.
In March this year, SIL was changing her 1 year olds nappy on the floor in the lounge. She took the poopy one off and then placed his bum (covered in poo) directly on the floor. My baby was only 9 months and crawling, and he puts hands to mouth constantly. I spoke up and made the suggestion that we both put something under the boys bums during nappy changes, using the reason that my baby puts his hands in his mouth and I am not comfortable with crawling on poo germs. SIL was extremely passive-aggressive, told me "you can do what you want" then told me she does use a cloth underneath him normally, which was 100% a lie. I do not like people lying to me. If people are being manipulative or trying to gaslight me, I call it out. She has always been really filthy with her baby. She literally uses a single wipe to clean a poo-bum, and I have seen her use that same wipe on the floor. Just disgusting stuff. Anyway, so I called it out as a lie. She started talking trash, trying to make it about things she believes I have done (eg. My daughter accidentally clogged a toilet that morning), so I unclogged the toilet and said something like "why is it that if you sense the slightest bit of criticism, you chuck a tantrum?"... nothing substantial happened after this point. Supposedly I called the poo nappy a "shitty nappy" and her 5yo repeated it at school. That was my bad, but, hey, I figured SIL and I both did the wrong thing there. Little did I know that SIL had made out to MIL that she was a victim, and I was like "a switch."
Two days later, I'm at work in the evening. Background: SIL works 1.5 hours a week, one afternoon a week. Her boyfriend is on disability for chronic fatigue, so doesn't work. I work 3 hours after kids go to bed, 5 days a week. MIL doesn't work. Ok, back to the story, so I'm at work, and when I get home my OH tells me that SIL had ambushed him when he was chilling in the lounge after the kids fell asleep. She went on a 40 minute rant about me. My 7yo heard this rant. My 7yo was concerned that "Aunty is going to kick mum out of the family like she did with Uncle (SILs ex)." SIL was always abusive towards her ex, but then turned it around and said he was abusive towards her. I have run the examples by my psychologist, who seems to think the same way as me. An example of abuse was (occurring after they split but were still living together): SIL was supposedly sitting in her pyjamas (great emphasis was placed on her being in her pjs) and ex started filming her, and he was repeating "I don't want to talk about this! I don't want to talk about this!" SIL says this is abuse because he didn't have consent to film her, especially not in her pjs. I think that I would probably film someone and say something like this if they were harassing or verbally assaulting me, and wouldn't leave me alone.
OH and I sat MIL down, and MIL justified SILs rant by saying "it was like a valve was released!" as though SIL had no control over what she was saying... for 40 minutes. Where as me saying "shitty nappy" in frustration was not excusable at all! One of the things SIL said about me was that I am not safe around her kids. I assume this is because I referred to a poo-nappy as a shitty-nappy, however SIL has since tried to allege I yelled, at some point, at her kids. Which never has happened. SIL has yelled at my 7yo more than once, and called my 7yo's tears "crocodile tears" and suggested, even when my daughter was 4/5yo, that she was manipulating us. Meanwhile, her own daughter literally lies like it is nothing; doesn't listen to any adults; kicks and screams at strangers, if they happen to be near her if she hurts herself (not even joking), for some examples.
Anyway, so I saw SIL on the stairs the next evening and said "I heard what you said about me. You are a liar. Don't ever talk about me without me in the room again." She said nothing. She did, however, "move in" to her bedroom. Literally, she bought a microwave, little portable cooktop, moved her kids toys and furniture all upstairs to her bedroom. She does her washing up on the balcony. The balcony leads to her mothers room, which has an ensuite. So she doesn't need to leave the room, really.
It turned into full silent treatment. OH had messaged SIL and said we should all get together and talk it out, however SIL ignored it. When we would speak with MIL, she would make out that it was my fault. She would tell me and OH that SIL must've been experienced some sort of transference, where she saw a lot of her, allegedly, abusive ex in me and that is the reason for her silent treatment. She said to me, more than once, that if SIL come to the table, then I can't use the term "gaslight" because it is triggering for SIL. Instead of viewing SIL giving the silent treatment and acting like she has to keep her kids away from me, as being abusive, she characterised it as "SIL is in protective mode and is trying to hold her kids close to her, in their new little home."
MIL messaged OH to rant about me, and called me abusive because I was asserting my right to bloody boundaries, and when I brought it up with MIL she said "I didn't send any message." I show her the message and she says "Well I was very emotional!"
Sorry, I'm probably all over the place.
MIL has basically been scapegoating me since. SIL does this shitty thing, and it's been months, and now I am being told by MIL that I have "taken over the house" when I am simply living normally. She has started doing really petty things, like moving things onto the chair that I use to put my workboots on in the evening, so that I have to constantly clear the same stuff of it over and over and over again. She was angry and banging around in the kitchen lastnight because she saw that I didn't put her dishes away (which I have made the decision to cease doing this past week, as she didn't ever say thank you, and has denied my doing anything for her or anyone else). She yelled at me like I was a bloody naughty dog about 2 weeks ago, about a photo I moved, because I said I wouldn't be putting it back where it was as my daughter uses the space a lot (it was a photo of my SILs daughter, which has been triggering for my own daughter, who SIL has refused to let her play with). She told me that I was yelling, whilst yelling at me. She didn't apologise for her attack, and so I decided that enough was enough. I was verbally, physically, emotionally abused as a child, as well as once more as an adult, and I was not letting this mole continue. I was going to no longer be nice so everyone could be comfortable... she could apologise... I will not speak with someone so abusive the next day, like the abuse didn't happen, ever again. So I just stopped speaking with her. She tried to give me a letter from the mailbox like the day after she spoke to me like a dog, and I just said "ok" (which, apparently, made her so angry! Because how dare I not thank her!?)
Today, MIL accused me of breaking something sentimental of hers. It's a giant stuffed doll her mum made. It is in terrible condition. I have never know it to be taken care of; it's just kind of been left on the floor for years. So she says I have been very "rough" with this giant doll, which is ludicrous and I told her so. I tell her she is being petty, and that falsely accusing me of something like that is disgusting. It turns into a big argument, and I label HER as abusive. I tell her she has trampled our boundaries from the beginning, and that we sacrificed so much and compromised so much. She basically tries tell me and OH that she "out of the goodness of her heart" said we could stay, and that she has "really tried" with me, but that I have done too many things. I ask for one example of what I have done to her. Just one! She literally cannot give me a single example. She tells me that her house is a home and I'm basically destroying that... but by how? By using the shared areas still? Like what does she want me to do? I am a mother, with 2 kids, and I will use the living area, dining and kitchen. I put in a big effort to make sure it is always useable by others (not something that was ever considered by MIL or SIL, for instance when they'd cook together or watch SILs kids... stuff everywhere, left for me, essentially. They'd disappear for hours or, for MIL, days, to avoid having to clean their own messes).
I have been seeing my psychologist again, which I had to wait until this month to be able to get in to see. I spent basically most of April and May thinking about suicide. I have, as they all knew, a history of depression and anxiety. I was 95% mentally well when this shit started occurring. I was so overwhelmed with silent treatment and abuse that I would drive around (not with my kids) and look at trees and contemplate crashing into them. One time I dug in and dragged my fingernails down my forearm, to the point that I bled... I didn't feel a thing. That was weeks ago and it still hasn't fully healed.
This month I started feeling a bit like I was coming out of the fog. My OH has been very supportive (although he is still far too passive when it comes to his mother, but I know he is doing his best, and I genuinely feel bad for the position he's in). I was starting to feel positive again. I was able to refocus on being with my children and be happy with my family. I genuinely believe that MIL did not like to hear my joy or laughter with my kids or OH. I can't think of what else would have made her behave so poorly, so quickly.
Hearing her accusations today, to hear her say she "tried" so hard with me; that she does things out of the "goodness" of her heart... it really triggered something in me. I called her an abuser and terrible person. She wants us to move out, which I'm all for. I said to her that when we leave, she will no longer see my kids (who, despite living in the same house as them, she NEVER tries to see, and NOT because I've stopped her... she just doesn't put in that effort), and her response was to tell me that I'm a very vindictive person. When I said her actions were vindictive, she was all excuses. I'm apparently the problem. She also told me that my psychologist is basically being duped by me... so that's great too.
So this is a please-don't-be-too-harsh on me, AITA for telling my MIL she is a terrible person and can no longer see my kids?

I'll try to keep the story as short as I can, but it'll be difficult.
To start things off, we were told SILs new boyfriend would stay a couple nights after driving SILs car up for her. He stayed 3 months. He left for 2 months, and he has back living with us since March 2023. MIL and SIL decided that SIL should be able to manipulate and gaslight everyone into thinking that we all said it was ok. I had experienced abuse as a child, and OH and I always said no to having random guy that SIL only knew 4 months, only dated for 5 weeks, moving in. We were asked if it would be ok prior to his driving the car up, and I assume that they thought we would just be ok, and MIL backflipped and said we no longer have the right to decide. When I disclosed the abuse to SIL, the only response I got was an angry "Then you can go stay in a hotel!"
F&@! me. So angry having to type any of this stupid sh!t out.
SIL is lazy. Entitled. Believes she is gods gift to everyone. She has no friends, judges everyone harshly, comments on my children and tries to parent over the top of me, amongst other things. MIL is as dumb as they come. She is a big-headed idiot, but she married well, and is essentially a multi-millionaire now, because her hard-working late husband left her everything. She acts like she is extremely fancy, despite living in a disgusting house, literally had mould on the walls and doors before we moved in. Dust, mildew, garbage, clutter, is the "theme" of this house. Fine. Whatever. They live differently to me. However, as much as my OH and I have compromised with these people, and sacrificed our time to make things better for everyone, SIL and MIL deny any compromises or sacrifices ever existed!
I did not know they were this bad prior to agreeing to move in. We moved in to save money for a house deposit. We offered $200/week board, as a starting point. MIL said no to money, even when we pressed, and she wanted my partner, who works full-time M-F, to spend 8 hours EVERY WEEKEND gardening for her instead. We said no, of course, as that is unreasonable. We pay a third of the household bills instead, and OH does a few hours in the garden a month.
SIL I thought was pretty high on narcissism spectrum prior to moving in, but I had never spent so much time with her (only like max maybe 7-10 days over holidays, prior to this). She only ever talks about how she had good grades in school 10 years ago, or how people who did better than her didn't deserve it. She is a failed musician. She sits and plays Wii U most of the time or watches TV or spends the entire day at the shops. Her children are basically neglected; they don't get bathed regularly (her youngest went his first 3 months without a single bath, and he ended up with a hair wrapped around his toe and needed surgery to get it off - SIL blames her, now, ex-partner for not checking toes during nappy changes). Her 5 year old has some sort of stomach infection right now (lasting over 3 weeks, I believe) because of how filthy SIL is. She only changes their clothing if they get wet, basically. I have seen them wear the same clothes, even to bed, all week long.
In March this year, SIL was changing her 1 year olds nappy on the floor in the lounge. She took the poopy one off and then placed his bum (covered in poo) directly on the floor. My baby was only 9 months and crawling, and he puts hands to mouth constantly. I spoke up and made the suggestion that we both put something under the boys bums during nappy changes, using the reason that my baby puts his hands in his mouth and I am not comfortable with crawling on poo germs. SIL was extremely passive-aggressive, told me "you can do what you want" then told me she does use a cloth underneath him normally, which was 100% a lie. I do not like people lying to me. If people are being manipulative or trying to gaslight me, I call it out. She has always been really filthy with her baby. She literally uses a single wipe to clean a poo-bum, and I have seen her use that same wipe on the floor. Just disgusting stuff. Anyway, so I called it out as a lie. She started talking trash, trying to make it about things she believes I have done (eg. My daughter accidentally clogged a toilet that morning), so I unclogged the toilet and said something like "why is it that if you sense the slightest bit of criticism, you chuck a tantrum?"... nothing substantial happened after this point. Supposedly I called the poo nappy a "shitty nappy" and her 5yo repeated it at school. That was my bad, but, hey, I figured SIL and I both did the wrong thing there. Little did I know that SIL had made out to MIL that she was a victim, and I was like "a switch."
Two days later, I'm at work in the evening. Background: SIL works 1.5 hours a week, one afternoon a week. Her boyfriend is on disability for chronic fatigue, so doesn't work. I work 3 hours after kids go to bed, 5 days a week. MIL doesn't work. Ok, back to the story, so I'm at work, and when I get home my OH tells me that SIL had ambushed him when he was chilling in the lounge after the kids fell asleep. She went on a 40 minute rant about me. My 7yo heard this rant. My 7yo was concerned that "Aunty is going to kick mum out of the family like she did with Uncle (SILs ex)." SIL was always abusive towards her ex, but then turned it around and said he was abusive towards her. I have run the examples by my psychologist, who seems to think the same way as me. An example of abuse was (occurring after they split but were still living together): SIL was supposedly sitting in her pyjamas (great emphasis was placed on her being in her pjs) and ex started filming her, and he was repeating "I don't want to talk about this! I don't want to talk about this!" SIL says this is abuse because he didn't have consent to film her, especially not in her pjs. I think that I would probably film someone and say something like this if they were harassing or verbally assaulting me, and wouldn't leave me alone.
OH and I sat MIL down, and MIL justified SILs rant by saying "it was like a valve was released!" as though SIL had no control over what she was saying... for 40 minutes. Where as me saying "shitty nappy" in frustration was not excusable at all! One of the things SIL said about me was that I am not safe around her kids. I assume this is because I referred to a poo-nappy as a shitty-nappy, however SIL has since tried to allege I yelled, at some point, at her kids. Which never has happened. SIL has yelled at my 7yo more than once, and called my 7yo's tears "crocodile tears" and suggested, even when my daughter was 4/5yo, that she was manipulating us. Meanwhile, her own daughter literally lies like it is nothing; doesn't listen to any adults; kicks and screams at strangers, if they happen to be near her if she hurts herself (not even joking), for some examples.
Anyway, so I saw SIL on the stairs the next evening and said "I heard what you said about me. You are a liar. Don't ever talk about me without me in the room again." She said nothing. She did, however, "move in" to her bedroom. Literally, she bought a microwave, little portable cooktop, moved her kids toys and furniture all upstairs to her bedroom. She does her washing up on the balcony. The balcony leads to her mothers room, which has an ensuite. So she doesn't need to leave the room, really.
It turned into full silent treatment. OH had messaged SIL and said we should all get together and talk it out, however SIL ignored it. When we would speak with MIL, she would make out that it was my fault. She would tell me and OH that SIL must've been experienced some sort of transference, where she saw a lot of her, allegedly, abusive ex in me and that is the reason for her silent treatment. She said to me, more than once, that if SIL come to the table, then I can't use the term "gaslight" because it is triggering for SIL. Instead of viewing SIL giving the silent treatment and acting like she has to keep her kids away from me, as being abusive, she characterised it as "SIL is in protective mode and is trying to hold her kids close to her, in their new little home."
MIL messaged OH to rant about me, and called me abusive because I was asserting my right to bloody boundaries, and when I brought it up with MIL she said "I didn't send any message." I show her the message and she says "Well I was very emotional!"
Sorry, I'm probably all over the place.
MIL has basically been scapegoating me since. SIL does this shitty thing, and it's been months, and now I am being told by MIL that I have "taken over the house" when I am simply living normally. She has started doing really petty things, like moving things onto the chair that I use to put my workboots on in the evening, so that I have to constantly clear the same stuff of it over and over and over again. She was angry and banging around in the kitchen lastnight because she saw that I didn't put her dishes away (which I have made the decision to cease doing this past week, as she didn't ever say thank you, and has denied my doing anything for her or anyone else). She yelled at me like I was a bloody naughty dog about 2 weeks ago, about a photo I moved, because I said I wouldn't be putting it back where it was as my daughter uses the space a lot (it was a photo of my SILs daughter, which has been triggering for my own daughter, who SIL has refused to let her play with). She told me that I was yelling, whilst yelling at me. She didn't apologise for her attack, and so I decided that enough was enough. I was verbally, physically, emotionally abused as a child, as well as once more as an adult, and I was not letting this mole continue. I was going to no longer be nice so everyone could be comfortable... she could apologise... I will not speak with someone so abusive the next day, like the abuse didn't happen, ever again. So I just stopped speaking with her. She tried to give me a letter from the mailbox like the day after she spoke to me like a dog, and I just said "ok" (which, apparently, made her so angry! Because how dare I not thank her!?)
Today, MIL accused me of breaking something sentimental of hers. It's a giant stuffed doll her mum made. It is in terrible condition. I have never know it to be taken care of; it's just kind of been left on the floor for years. So she says I have been very "rough" with this giant doll, which is ludicrous and I told her so. I tell her she is being petty, and that falsely accusing me of something like that is disgusting. It turns into a big argument, and I label HER as abusive. I tell her she has trampled our boundaries from the beginning, and that we sacrificed so much and compromised so much. She basically tries tell me and OH that she "out of the goodness of her heart" said we could stay, and that she has "really tried" with me, but that I have done too many things. By using the shared areas still? Like what does she want me to do? I am a mother, with 2 kids, and I will use the living area, dining and kitchen. I put in a big effort to make sure it is always useable by others (not something that was ever considered by MIL or SIL, for instance when they'd cook together or watch SILs kids... stuff everywhere, left for me, essentially. They'd disappear for hours or, for MIL, days, to avoid having to clean their own messes).

Alongside these updates, getting the game on iOS has been a big priority in the past few weeks. Idle Clans has been approved on App Store but still requires some final touches to make it ready for release. I expect to release it early next week if no unexpected issues pop up.

- A new item has been added: Toolbelt. It's an equippable item that goes into the new Belt equipment slot. It's currently obtainable from rare and exceptional treasure chests (8% and 4% drop chances respectively), but will likely be moved to future content as something more fitting comes along. The Toolbelt on its own does not offer anything beyond some minimal defensive stats - you'll need to purchase the new Toolbelt upgrade for the item to utilize your tools. Once upgraded and equipped, the toolbelt will provide the benefit of the highest level tool in your inventory for a given task without needing to equip the tool. Here is how the upgrades are structured:
- Tier 1: unlocks Woodcutting and Fishing tools, costs 500K gold
- Tier 2: unlocks Mining and Smithing tools, costs 1M gold
- Tier 3: unlocks Cooking and Crafting tools, costs 2M gold
- Tier 4: unlocks Agility and Plundering tools, costs 3M gold
- Tier 5: unlocks Foraging and Farming tools, costs 4M gold
- Tier 6: unlocks Brewing and Carpentry tools, costs 5M gold
- Each tier requires level 70 in the related skills. Unlocked tool types will show in the Toolbelt item's description once one or more upgrades have been purchased.
- A logging system has been added for clans. Every meaningful action is recorded and available for leaders of a clan to view from the Management section of your clan's page. To start off, the last 25 actions of individual clan members and 100 of the last combined actions of all clan members are stored. These numbers may be raised in the future if need arises.
- A new task has been added to Fishing and Cooking: Tuna! It has a Fishing level requirement of 90 and Cooking level requirement of 85. When cooked, it'll heal 17 health upon consumption.
- Combat group leaders now have the ability to set a boss run to end after the next boss death
- Potions now work whilst offline. Their timers will only be decreased while offline if you're doing a task that utilizes the potion (all combat potion timers will all decrease in offline combat, regardless of used attack style)
- The smelting tab has been removed and smelting options can now be found in the Smithing page
- A warning popup is now displayed when buying a premium token from the player market, stating that it be untradable on purchase and cost gold to return it to a tradeable state
- Potion of trickery is now applied to extra gathered materials as well (double loot from upgrades etc.)
- Player shop item prices are no longer rounded to KMB
- Fixed an issue where all group members wouldn't always show up in the Group info popup
- Client side combat calcs reworked. Should now provide much more accurate results than before.
- Fixed a bug in how NPC strength is calculated (thanks again Kloppie5 for locating it). Should be a mostly unnoticeable change - some monsters may be slightly weaker and some slightly stronger, but you likely won't even notice.
- Fixed offline combat giving experience for overkill damage
- Fixed the non-boosted experience p/h showing inaccurate results in the Task stats popup when you had ad boost active
- Fixed some issues in inventory item and vault item input fields
- Fixed Royal clan plunder achievement being triggered from Food factory due to the ids changing last update
- Fixed a small bug where when trying to join a team that had already went to combat, you'd incorrectly get a "Invitation sent" popup
- Fixed an issue where the "Ready" button would not reappear in a combat lobby after all other members left the group
- Fixed an issue where your offline combat would be triggered when logging out in a combat lobby before actually entering the fight
- Pressing the shield icon in combat tasks caused crashes on mobile. Instead of fixing the issue, the icon was removed all together as it has no utility. Initial thoughts behind combat grouping were that only some tasks would be groupable and the icon was meant to highlight those tasks but as all tasks are groupable and will remain so, the icon is now gone.
- Fixed attempting to purchase an insanely large amount of items from local market causing the game to crash
- Fixed Carpentry tasks not consistently going through when you had no gold but had the Plank bargain upgrade fully unlocked
- Fixed plundering skill advantage icons turning invisible at some resolutions
- Fixed task progress slider appearing to progress after completing tutorial tasks (visual bug)
- Fixed Power forager upgrade not working offline
- Fixed an edge case issue where sending items and purchasing items from a player who was in the process of disconnecting could cause the transaction to fail, sometimes even resulting in an item loss
- Fixed group combat not turning into solo combat when you're the last remaining member of a group, allowing you to get experience benefits meant for groups in solo combat
- Bronze platelegs had the stats of iron platelegs and vise versa. Fixed.
- The inventory item interaction popup is now automatically closed if you run out of that item whilst having the popup open
- Similar to the previous point, fixed an issue where if you actively dragged an item in your inventory, ran out of that item and then tried to move it to another inventory slot, you would get some fun visual bugs
- Shop entry requirements purchasability indicators are now updated when inventory updates and when you level up, without needing to first leave and re-enter the local market
- Fixed an error in offline smelting calculations with the smelting magic upgrade unlocked
- Fulfilled requirements in shop item entries now use the same bright green colour that's used elsewhere

I sat down with Layla a few days after my initial post and really talked with her about why I felt her and Kyle's request was unacceptable and I laid out my biggest concerns -
- I eat mostly plants so nuts & soy are like 50% of my protein. So my grocery bill would increase because I’d have to make it up in animal products. Who’s going to pay for that? I’m not vegetarian but I don’t really want to eat like that and I definitely don’t want to pay for it so would they make up that increase?
- I honestly didn’t trust them to stop there. i already did what I felt was a reasonable accommodation and it wasn’t enough so how long til they take coconut, eggs and tomatoes from me too?
- It was weird af to ask me in the first place and I felt really disrespected because this is my home and I don’t take second place to a guest. I can to her, personally, of course but that doesn’t extend to the apartment.
I said I would agree to continue not using his serious allergens when he was present or soon to be and that was the line. It didn’t go over well at all and Layla told me I was overreacting and I could just do it and kept talking over me when I tried to say that I wouldn’t. Eventually she slipped up with the “well what if he moved in” and I said absolutely not and ended the conversation with her for the night.
We argued in circles about it for nearly 2 weeks and once it was out, she didn’t drop it. I realized it wasn’t going to get better so I did what I didn’t want to do and told her that I was going to the landlord about breaking my part of the lease and she freaked out. Idk where Kyle’s money goes but apparently he doesn’t have any because she was yelling about not being able to afford it on her own and he couldn’t help even if he moved in. I told her that this had gone way too far and I didn’t think I could be happy living here with her anymore; if it were easier for her to leave instead, that would be fine too. She was really upset and I said I wouldn’t force her out or leave her suddenly on the lease alone but it was one or the other. Eventually she accepted it and decided she would move back in with her dad. That was the end of April and she’s fully moved out as of this week.
My childhood best friend Allie has been flip flopping on moving to my city for forever now and me calling and saying I had an cheap open bedroom if she came right away got her to finally pull the trigger on it. And it helped Layla out because she didn’t have to pay to break the lease since I agreed to cover the full rent at my own risk. Allie has stuff to tie up in our home state still but she’s already sent me half of July’s rent. I just gotta squeeze for a lil while but I’ll make it. I’m super excited to see her and show her around! Plus we’ve been cooking together since fourth grade so that’ll be a nice change lol. and I can get a cat! It’s been a bit of a rough couple of months but I’m very happy with how things are looking right now so I just wanted to share with you guys.

For context, my mom has never really cooked that much. Growing up she might make Sunday dinner or a random meal during the week. Fast forward to now, I'm almost 30 and have my breastfeeding wife and two daughters (1mo, and 2yo) over visiting my retired parents for the week. My mom has been excited about this special dish shes been wanting to make all week. So, yesterday evening my mom begins making this jambalaya dish. She claims it tastes better after it sits for a day to enjoy the following day. She makes a large pot of a tomato based stew for it with cooked sausages, bacon, vegetables etc. She finishes it around 9pm. I wake up today and it's been left out on the stove for over 12 hours in a covered pot, no heat( it's currently almost 10am). I don't believe she plans on touching it again until she makes the rice for it later today for tonight's dinner.
I know for a fact, especially now after researching it that food can't just be left out like that for so long especially with meat in it. I now have to make things very awkward and potentially embarrassing for her by saying my breastfeeding wife, 2 year old toddler and myself will not be risking that tonight for dinner.
I know she's going to say things like " I've been feeding you your whole life and you turned out fine" " I do this all the time and I've never been sick" " don't believe everything you read online" etc etc

I know I’m a bad person. And I know I fucked up. And I know I’ve got to live with the consequences. I just wanted to check with others in a relationship with a toxic type A narcissist have you ever done things you aren’t proud of to cope?? Or have I become what I claim her to be?
This is somewhat something between a rant, a vent, a cry for acceptance and and admission of guilt. Pretty long post so be fair warned.
One thing a lot of us who are the other half of in the relationship with a narc don’t necessarily talk about is the sort of wrongs we may indulge in to cope, to survive. Having just undergone probably the worst week of my life, I will probably speak very openly or at least as openly as I can; I’m still not confident enough to post this from my sfw handle. But as narc survivors we may all have done things that we aren’t proud of. And the guilt of these things does push us down. By writing the below, I am not trying to assuage guilt, nor make excuses just state facts. And maybe, get some understanding from the folks who have gone through something similar. Or maybe I’m just looking to let it out of my system. I don’t really know anymore.
So over 4 years ago, I found out my narc wife had been cheating on me. This fact in my view is irrefutable and undeniable although she still either denies it every time or tries to dismiss it as being my fault sometimes. I will not go into details about why and how. I couldn’t end it then and there because this was after a year long separation and subsequent reconciliation. I stuck around and chose not to confront her. The reason being my daughter who wasn’t yet 6 at that time. Initially it hit me like a punch in the gut. The fact that the reconciliation was only validated on a financial arrangement where I was paying against certain benefits like accommodation and stuff which my wife had been getting for free.
Then I started acting out; didn’t physically cheat on her but made a throwaway Reddit, ie this one and started exploring my kinks. Prior to our marriage I’d been pretty active in a lot of kinky things but had quit cold turkey when we got married. Just FYI, ours was an arranged marriage so there was no relationship prior to that hence I wasn’t cheating on someone at that point either. I felt it was my one outlet to let off steam. I’d be disgusted at the thought of being with my wife intimately given the things I knew. And more than the physical cheating it was the fact that she’d be humiliating about me, my family and continuously plotting how to get me out of her life while retaining the financial security of what I paid her every month that fucked me over. Anyway I lived this farce for over a year after I’d found out these things while coming to Reddit from time to time as a guilty pleasure. Then one fine day, not really out of the blue, as I was privy to her plans, she moved out of my home, leaving our daughter with me. Lots of drama followed, and this time round I initiated divorce proceedings against her. From this point on, I actually started physically sleeping around, not like every day or even every week, but when I clicked either online or in person. Some kink exploration, etc. I didn’t feel this was cheating cheating per se since we were on the verge of divorce.
Then when she was at the lowest of her lows and also because I have a feeling that the divorce proceedings would have ended in my favor, she reaches out to me reconcile again. I was wary and didn’t want to, to be very honest but the constant struggle that my daughter was undergoing at that point and her emotional manipulation, etc led me to reconcile. And she moved back in; and I gave up on my activities both IRL and online, putting in my energies into trying to make things work. The peace lasted maybe 3 months at most before we were back where we always end up, the same self centeredness, mental gymnastics, the constant gaslighting etc etc. Again I didn’t step out on her right away and even kept myself away from my online proclivities but there’s only so much a man can take. And at some point I started going back to Reddit. Nothing physical IRL for a few more months before that darkness overtook me again. I was always very careful, and I also knew in the back of my mind that she was also involved in something with someone. But yeah this time I accept my wrongdoing. But it was never regular just once a month or in two months with someone who I’d met to just let off steam or feel good about myself. Some turned into regular FBs and some were ONSs.
Recently, I fell in love and with someone who’s probably not ready for that fully, and has other men in her life as well. So I felt that was God’s way of punishing me for my sins and wrongdoing.
But last week, the narc found out everything about my online activities including the fact that I was planning on filing for divorce this summer. I have known since February that I have to file and hadn’t stepped out on our marriage IRL during that period until I met this wonderful person I’m absolutely crazy about. For the first time in a very very long time, I wanted to be the best version of myself. Not just for her but for myself. I’m 41, and the last 10+ years of absolute strife in my life had led me to just making do. I wasn’t ready to do this any more. When confronted, I fessed up and admitted to online wrongdoing. And told her yes, I do plan on ending it once and for all. Didn’t want to do it through the school year as I didn’t want to cause more trauma to our child than was necessary.
I don’t know where things go from here. If she plans on using the proof of my online proclivities to screw me over or if I even deserve sympathy or understanding. But I know this, I can’t live with this person any more and the fact that it’s now out in the open that I want to end it, feels both scary and uplifting at the same time. After the initial feelings of guilt have subsided I’m existing in something of a fugue state between feeling dead inside and wanting to indulge more to feel free.

last month I developed a habit where I kept on washing my hands using handwash. I just couldn't stop and don't know when my hands should be considered clean and when I should stop washing them. Here are the scenarios where I will rewash my hands using handwash soap:
1- When the water from the sink bounces back onto my palms while washing.
2- When I accidentally touch the sink while washing.
3- I always wash my hands more than twice. I don't know why I don't think washing them once with soap is enough. Is this normal?
4- I wash them more than three or four times after putting my laundry in the washing machine.
5- I wash my hands with soap after using a Dettol wipe to clean my phone before cleaning my laptop. Then I wash my hands with soap again before cleaning my desk.
6- I wash my hands again when I accidentally touch the faucet (tap).
7- I spend alot on cleaning product, my housemate also noticed why i showered for a long time and when the water bill arrived, i dont even know how to explain.
8- i feared washing machine [touching detergent] and tumble dryer the most, every time after using it i will wash my hand for more than 15 mins. is this normal, when does it consider as clean.
Sometimes, I don't believe that my hands are clean. It's like I forget when to consider my hands clean. Sometimes, I wash my hands or take a shower for more than an hour. I keep washing my hands after touching anything in the bathroom.
These habits prevent me from doing meaningful things. Sometimes, I don't sleep for days because after cleaning something in my room, I go and wash my hands with soap before cleaning the next thing. It takes so much time that I didn't sleep for two nights. Yesterday, I didn't sleep at all because I was cleaning my phone, debit card, and the sink. These habits also prevent me from cooking my own meals. Sometimes, I only eat bread and biscuits for breakfast and skip dinner and lunch. I have also stopped working out because I'm scared that if I touch the carpet, I'll spread all the germs to my housemates. I have lost a lot of weight because of this, and I wake up with anxiety. Sometimes, the first thing I do when I wake up is wash my hands with soap. My hands are so dry that it's hard for me to fully open them without risking injury. There are razor blade-like cuts on my hands, and now my palms feel like plastic. It doesn't feel normal.
