Finally got my AC diagnosed today. The technician said the compressor has seized. Dealership said it's gunna be over 4k to fix because they have to replace the condenser as well and essentially do an entire ac overhaul.Has anyone had similar issues and know of cheaper way to fix. Also will the compressor being seized effect my engine?
Any info is appreciated, thanks in advance.

2023.06.09 17:36 2FatC TGIF Tour of Headlines

The oil market is buzzing about the surprise cut by the KSA, who effectively said, "Take that!" to those commodity traders short on oil due to global macro economic slowing. Meh.
OPEC members cheat. Certain members can't produce up to their quota level. Certain members can't afford to dial production back. The Saudi's continue to enjoy being the swing producer in their cartel with the means to add or subtract barrels almost like operating a light switch. But. This isn't positive news for the start of summer driving season.
Let's look at other headlines. From Morning Brew, tension between bosses and workers about WFH. Excerpt:
Plus, there’s a whole lot of drama at the insurer Farmers Group, the WSJ reported. Last year, its CEO told employees that WFH was permanent. But a new guy, Raul Vargas, took over the position and last month said actually, nevermind. Vargas told staff that in order to foster “collaboration, creativity, and innovation” workers needed to be back in the office at least three days a week.
Employees Revolted
Farmers Group staff raged on internal communication sites, saying they’d made huge lifestyle changes}}&mid={{md5(profile.email)}}&mblid=32ee8aea3dfe) (like moving to new cities and ditching their cars) thinking they would get to work from their living rooms forever. Some threatened to quit and others suggested unionizing.
Return-to-office mandates have not gone over well at other companies, either. Last week, crowds of corporate Amazon workers walked out}}&mid={{md5(profile.email)}}&mblid=346b6303ed01) of the Seattle headquarters to protest a number of grievances they had with the company, including its demand for in-person work three days a week. Amazon’s response? Thanks for the feedback, see you in the office <3.
And good news for Tesla:
Tesla’s charging network adds another big name. GM CEO Mary Barra said that her company’s electric vehicles will be able to plug into}}&mid={{md5(profile.email)}}&mblid=5688739dd5d1) Tesla’s lightning-fast Supercharger network starting next year. Plus, beginning in 2025, all of GM’s freshly made EVs will come with Tesla’s charging hardware. GM’s announcement follows a similar move Ford made last month, and the deal among the three largest US-based automakers essentially guarantees that Tesla’s chargers will be the industry norm moving forward.
Possible Bad News for Alcohol Sin Stocks? This stat:
Stat: Whether they’re opting for shroom chocolates or just being hangover-conscious, Gen Z is buying noticeably less alcohol}}&mid={{md5(profile.email)}}&mblid=8681e1518818) at concerts, Billboard reported. One club owner in Tucson, AZ, told the outlet that at every event aimed at Gen Z, alcohol sales fell by as much as 25% compared to concerts for older folks. While that may be a hopeful sign for society, it’s a sobering development for smaller venues that need to make up lost revenue.
*******************
I like sin stocks. And the last time I bought alcohol at an event, it was hella expensive, but I wouldn't rush to sell any sin stocks on this tidbit. If I owned a real estate stock, I might consider other ways people are consuming entertainment and look for larger data sets. Would AI and VR be disruptive here?
From Yahoo's Morning Brief:
What We're Watching:
Goodbye, Bear Market: With the bear market finally behind, investors are continuing to ask the questions the Brief has been raising this week — will we see the strength in tech continue to the rest of the market?
What We're Reading:
And excerpts from an Open Letter to Ryan Cohen (link below):
...But you are failing GameStop.
And perhaps your biggest failure is the lack of communication to the average investor community.
A series of 8-minute-long earnings calls the past two years led by Furlong, with no Q&A? Are you kidding?
Not a single investor-focused event detailing your grand plan?
I get being cryptic for competitive reasons, but you are a public company executive. Investors deserve to know about the vision for a company controlled by you personally and your handpicked board.
The average investor has placed a ton of faith in you, Ryan. They have spent hours upon hours reviewing GameStop's financials, supporting you on social media, and the comment sections on Yahoo Finance, among other places.
It's time you show them the respect they deserve. The Ryan Cohen we talked with at Yahoo Finance in 2019 seemed to be someone that would at least entertain the thought of caring about the average guy.
Be that Ryan Cohen again. Investors deserve it… and have earned it by supporting you blindly for two plus years.
Note: A spokesperson for Ryan Cohen didn't return Yahoo Finance's request to make Ryan Cohen available for an interview for this piece.
******************
Ouch. Brian didn't pull his punches and he's absolutely right about the earnings calls. Eight minutes? That's ridiculous. There's no trust on Wall Street. Analysts have bosses and bosses hate surprises because investors hate (mostly) surprises.
And over at $EXPI, the stock gapped up. The squeeze continues to play out...
Have a great day and a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

2023.06.09 16:35 jedjustis Big time lag on Mac after a few minutes of use

I've been using Dungeondraft since 2020, and I love the program. However, as of fairly recently, the program starts chugging hard after about 5-10 minutes of use. I've disabled almost all custom asset packs and still am having this issue.
Is there any way to improve performance, or am I out of luck? I'd be really bummed to lose DungeonDraft, it's my favorite mapping software.

2023 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 First Test Review: The SUV That Does It All

https://preview.redd.it/5nopc2325d3b1.png?width=875&format=png&auto=webp&s=874e3908d1aba6f3960e566578f51001e91e8719
Need to do, well, just about anything? The Tahoe can handle it.

Pros
Aggressive approach and departure angles
Soft-touch interior details
Great versatility for family adventuring

Cons
5.3-liter V-8's lackluster performance/economy
20-inch wheels aren't practical for off-roading
Push-button gear selector is fussy for no good reason

In these SUV-crazed times, and when gas prices are a lesser concern, the Chevrolet Tahoe just might be the quintessential modern family vehicle. As a jack of all trades, it can tow toys, haul stuff, transport people, tackle a trail, and hold its own in the valet line. But as the saying continues, as a master of none, the 2023 Chevy Tahoe Z71 we tested isn't overwhelmingly excellent in any one category, instead aiming for a well-rounded, realistic target that it mostly nails for families (and businesses) with lots of things to do. For these customers, versatility beats being a master of one, as the saying sometimes ends. And hey, it's way more stylish than settling into minivan life.

Z71 Trim: What It Includes
The Z71 is the Tahoe's most off-road-oriented trim, falling below the Premier and High Country in terms of starting price. Exterior visual differences up front include a skidplate and a high-clearance fascia with red recovery hooks. Seasoned off-roaders know GM trucks have poor approach angles that often result in stuffing the front end into obstacles and ripping off valances, so this adapted front end is a definite positive for those who will actually take their Z71 on the trail. That fascia combines with the Z71's available air suspension (good for a 2-inch boost over normal ride height) to provide an approach angle of 34.5 degrees; the Z71's departure angle is 22.5 degrees, and both angles represent useful improvements over more road-oriented models.

The Z71 also features machined aluminum 20-inch wheels wrapped in 275/60 (33-inch) Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner AT tires, black assist steps, and black roof-mounted side rails. The Z71 Off-Road package, available for another $6,000, bundles the Luxury, Max Trailering, Driver Alert, and Off-Road Capability packages, allowing buyers to pack on tons of features with one check mark. The last package specifically adds an electronically controlled limited-slip differential (eLSD), Magnetic Ride Control dampers, and adaptive air springs. You cannot order a Z71 with GM's excellent Super Cruise hands-free driving system, however.

The adaptive air suspension automatically adjusts for road conditions, lowering to improve aerodynamics and efficiency. You can also adjust it manually. Once in park, it kneels (lowers) for easier egress—though it's a rather slow process. The system is quiet with no loud air compressor sound and pretty seamless.

The setup offers nice ride quality, but does it make or break the Z71? Not really, as Tahoes on the regular suspension aren't uncomfortable. On the plus side, we used it to adjust heights when hooking and unhooking trailers. Why jump on the tailgate to disengage the ball when you can air down and lower the hitch?

Why We're Testing It
About that electronic limited-slip differential that we mentioned: When we previously tested a Chevy Tahoe Z71, the eLSD wasn't yet available; instead, that truck had a mechanical rear limited-slip diff. Again, this isn't a feature that's going to make or break the Z71 for the majority of customers; most of the time, you'd never know it was there. In certain low-range limited-traction circumstances, it could make a difference. That said, our colleagues at Four Wheeler put it to the test: "Our crew found that [the eLSD] wasn't tuned quite as well as the competition's. It's almost as if GM's engineers designed the Tahoe's eLSD to require a lot of wheelspin before engaging. An actual electronically controlled locking rear differential would make a world of difference." It becomes even less of a necessity considering most folks won't want to have our test SUV's 20-inch wheels if they're going to do regular trailwork.

Ain't So Peppy But Gets It Done
Our Radiant Red four-wheel-drive 2023 Chevy Tahoe Z71 housed the 5.3-liter V-8 making 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. It gets the big SUV up to speed with little fanfare and works through a 10-speed automatic transmission that happily works away in the background. If you love the good ol' sounds and experience of a trusty V-8, the Tahoe's for you—your gas engine choices are this V-8 or a different V-8. (A torquey 3.0-liter turbodiesel is also available.) However, long gone are the days when V-8 automatically means quicker and faster than the rest.

Our Z71 accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds. Not bad, Jack, but the problem is that nearly all the four-wheel-drive full-size three-row competition betters that time. The Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia with their twin-turbo V-6s are both quicker, with the former reaching 60 mph a full two seconds ahead of the Z71. Rather than hanging with the zippy V-6s, the Z71 sandwiches nicely between its V-8 competitors, the Nissan Armada on top and the Wagoneer on the bottom. (Of course, the Wagoneer's V-8 Hemi is going bye-bye in favor of the excellent Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six.) The Z71 is the only one of these SUVs under 400 horsepower, and the fact that it's light—only the Expedition is lighter—doesn't make a difference. Maybe it's good there's a new sixth-gen small-block in the works.

Stick With The 5.3-Liter
The other available V-8, the 6.2-liter, is good for an additional 65 hp and 77 lb-ft of torque. Maybe more displacement delivers more awesome? Naturally, the 6.2-liter offers stronger foot-to-the-floor acceleration, but it also results in a heavier Tahoe that can tow and haul less than the 5.3-liter. Plus, the option tacks on an immediate $8,605 or so. And it requires premium gasoline.

Unless you absolutely insist on having the biggest V-8 you can get, we'd stick with the 5.3-liter. Any benefits of the 6.2-liter just don't outweigh the 5.3-liter. The 5.3-liter pulls the Tahoe around reasonably well in regular driving, and no one in the school drop-off line will really be the wiser.

All Those Trades This Jack Of An SUV Covers
Let's look at all the trades this jack covers. First, it's good for four people. The Chevy Tahoe Z71 can seat seven, even eight, but it's really in its element with four aboard. They each have their own captain's chair to stretch out, and the rear entertainment system with dual 12.6-inch screens now comes with built-in apps, making it more broadly useful. It's perfect for a family of four, with room in the third row for occasionally carrying grandparents or your kids' friends. Getting the whole crew out the door to dinner can be like herding cats; taking everyone in one car is a definite bonus. With the third row down, there's also enough room for all four folks to bring a decent load of luggage. If you plan to use the third row consistently, however, things get cramped very quickly. You gain people, but with the third row in use, you lose luggage room for those extra people. For families greater than four considering a Tahoe, we'd recommend a Suburban.

It can haul and tow. The Z71 has a payload of about 1,700 pounds and as equipped here can tow 8,200 pounds. Sans kids, we once flipped all but the driver and passenger seats down and hauled a metric ton of overlanding gear to install on another project. The enclosed, upright space handled everything like a boss, and it would have been much harder to secure the load in a pickup. Plus, the Z71 has automatic load-leveling thanks to that air suspension.

As for towing, we hitched an 8,000-pound 21-foot toy hauler to the Z71's cousin, the GMC Yukon AT4, and dragged it on a 2,400-mile road trip. We faced white-knuckle wind at the Bonneville Flats—the strongest we've ever experienced—steep grades, and everything in between. It did the job with confidence and stability. It's not all glowing, though. We averaged less than 9 mpg mpg while towing. Combined with the 24-gallon fuel tank, we were stopping for gas literally every time we could.

It's not miserable off-road. Short of "death-wheeling," proceed with confidence. The Z71 does not feel like it'll fall apart off-road. For sketchier trails, it has four-low, the eLSD, an Off-Road drive mode, 10 inches of ground clearance, a bumper made for moderate step-ups, and multiple camera angles for seeing obstacles. You probably won't go buy a Z71 specifically for off-roading—and if you do, again, you probably want to fit smaller wheels—but our colleagues at Four Wheeler named the GMC variant its SUV of the Year.

In The End …
The Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 isn't the most glamorous SUV going; even the GMC Yukon is perceived as more prestigious. But it can tow, it can take you far off the beaten path without shaking itself to death, it can swallow a ton of cargo, and it's as comfortable for long trips as almost anything you can buy. If you don't crave extra power or stout acceleration and aren't a fan of flashy SUVs, it's worth a look.

2023.06.09 15:30 DarthGabe2142 Sony RX100 VII (worth it?)

I am wondering if the Sony RX100 VII is a good choice in 2023. I have been focusing on downsizing my gear lately to prepair for my upcoming trip to Asia this July and had a growing interest in the RX100 VII. It does all the things I want it to do.
I currently have an S23 Ultra, which has the latest camera specs a flagship phone can have. I was wondering if the Sony RX100 VII is a good investment, even though it came out in 2019.

2023.06.09 14:28 eduroamDD Stock market destroying me mentally... what to do?

Just wanted to get this off my chest. Not sure if anyone here can relate, but I'm hurting from the markets and would love to hear any advice...
HENRY background: Online business previously earning around 400-500k in revenue with 300k in profits annually, business started in 2019. Business has slowed down, expecting 300k in revenue with 150-200k in profit this year. Also a W2 job in a separate industry (healthcare) paying around 80k annually but expecting to pay around 500-600k annually in roughly 4-5 years. Total net worth right now around 460k, late 20s. Paid off undergraduate/med-school debt with business income. First-gen immigrant, middle class family.
2 years ago, the 2021 stock market was a raging bull machine. I was naive and though it just always went up. Hit around 700k net worth towards the very end of 2021. Combination of my online business doing well and (in hindsight) some very lucky options positions in big tech. Early/mid 20s at the time and really felt like things could not be going any better. Overconfident in financial markets.
Fast forward to today, huge portfolio drawdown from the 2022-2023 stock market, non-retirement brokerage account essentially went down 60% peak to trough. Retirement accounts stable and rising, but the brokerage account went from 500k peak to roughly 200k today. And I'm "tilted" as traders say.
Net worth: 700k (Dec 2021; 500k brokerage, 80k SEP IRA, 120k savings) fell to 460k (June 2023; 200k brokerage, 185k SEP IRA, 75k savings) today.
I feel like I've just been making terrible after terrible decisions in the financial markets. From holding on too long to losers in 2022 to just fumbling the ball in 2023. I mean, if I had just kept my speculative positions from 2021 until today, my brokerage account would probably be back to somewhere around 400-450k, but instead I've tried timing the market and here we are. I know I can't change the past now, but it's just so incredibly frustrating. Feel like a huge f***ing loser. If anyone else has experienced anything similar, I would really appreciate the perspective.
Not sure how many others here have attempted to ride the financial markets to expedite themselves from HENRY to Lean/Chubby, but it clearly has not worked in my favor.
Any advice for how to go forward?

2023.06.09 14:00 dreftzg [Daily News] Big Seiko Day: A New 1968 Seiko 5 Inspired LE And Three Funky SKX Sports Watches, Ulysse Nardin’s Two New Divers In Azure And Vero Offers Their Entry For The Great Summer Watch

It's Friday and. Seiko is celebrating the 55th anniversary of the original Seiko 5.

What's new

1/
A Huge Seiko Day: Here’s A New 1968 Seiko 5 Inspired Limited Edition And Three Funky SKX Sports Style Watches
Seiko is celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Seiko 5 Sports watch. It’s a legendary affordable and robust watch, the start of many collections and an instant trigger for memories of childhood. To celebrate the anniversary, Seiko is looking back into its childhood, back to the original Seiko 5 Sports, and uses the five key characteristic of the collection - an automatic movement; a day-date display in a single aperture at 3 o’clock; water-resistance; a recessed crown at 4 o’clock; and a robust steel case and bracelet or strap - to reissue this versatile timepiece.
The limited-edition watch Seiko is launching now is pretty much the exact same watch. A 39.5mm brushed tonneau-shaped steel case, 12.5mm thick, signature half-moon scalloped areas at noon and 6 o’clock and a crown tucked into the case. The respect of the original dial is carried over to the dial as well. The black dial has a silver peripheral track and the same applied bar indices treated with Lumibrite, just like the hands. Almost identical to the 1968 model, the original Seiko 5 logo is transferred in silver at noon, the day and date window uses a very similar frame to the original, the baton-style hour and minute hands are treated with Lumibrite and the lollipop central seconds hand is red.
Inside the watch is Seiko’s automatic 4R36 calibre, an in-house movement that has long proved its reliability and sturdiness and has a 41 hour power reserve. The Seiko 5 Sports 55th Anniversary Limited Edition SRPK17 is numbered on the caseback out of 15,555 that will be produced and will be available in July 2023 at Seiko Boutiques and select partners worldwide. It’s priced at EUR 410.
But there are more tributes to be seen today. The ‘68 Seiko 5 Sports inspired a number of models over the years, but perhaps the most iconic line was the SKX, Seiko’s line-up of affordable bulletproof dive watches that now appear in the brand’s newly restructured collection in the SKX Sports Style segment. Although the three models pick up on the vibrant colour schemes of 1969 Seiko 5 Sports models, they are housed in the legendary SKX case with crown and guards at 4 o’clock and the unidirectional rotating bezel. The 100m water-resistant case measures 42.5mm, has a thickness of 13.4mm, features a see-through caseback to view Seiko’s automatic 4R36 calibre and is fitted with a three-link stainless steel bracelet.
Apart from the obvious colour variations on the dial, all three models have different bezels and flanges. The SRPK09 has a silver dial combined with a black and silver unidirectional rotating bezel the SRPK13 has a black dial and bezel with red and silver markings and a sloping flange in blue and green, while the loudest model is the orange SRPK11 with its black bezel, two-tone orange and black flange and a thick black band traversing the dial from 3 to 9 o’clock.
The three new and colourful references are not limited in production and will be available at Seiko Boutiques and retail partners worldwide in September 2023. The retail price is EUR 350.
2/
Ulysse Nardin Celebrates World Ocean Day With Two New Divers - Net Azure And Diver X Skeleton Azure
June 8th is World Ocean Day and to mark this occasion, Ulysse Nardin is introducing a new azure colorway to the Diver Net and Diver X Skeleton models. UN has for years maintained a very strong stance towards preserving the environment with the use of recycled and upcycled materials, and these two timepieces follow this concept in a non-limited addition to the brand’s catalog.
The Diver Net Azure is a 44mm wide and 14.81mm thick watch that’s made of 95% recycled stainless steel. The side case and case back ring are made of 60% Nylo and 40% Carbonium, just like the bezel. Since it’s a diver, the 300 meter water resistance is expected. The watch has a domed sapphire crystal and underneath it a black sand-blasted dial. On the dial is a huge Azure X that frames the power reserve at 12 and running seconds at 6. Inside the watch is the UN-118 Manufacture caliber, an automatic with 50 jewels, a Silicon balance spring, and a DiamonSil escapement wheel and anchor.
Then there’s the Diver X Skeleton Azure. Just as big, but chunkier at 15.7mm, the watch has a DLC coated titanium case and an x-shaped skeleton dial with polished and satin finishes. At 12 o’clock you can see the Carbonium barrel cover of the UN-372 Manufacture caliber and an oversized silicon balance wheel is situated at 6. Both watches come with azure-blue rubber straps.
The Diver Net Azure will retail at €12,700, and the Diver X Skeleton Azure for €26,800.

Indian Microbrand Bangalore Watch Company Releases Apogee Manzinus & Earthshine To Celebrate India’s Unmanned Moon Missions
Bangalore Watch Company has carved out a very interesting niche. The Bangalore-based indie brand is focusing on celebrating notable achievements from India. Recent examples include the MACH 1 which focused on the Indian Air Force MiG 21 and Cover Drive which highlighted India’s most popular sport, Cricket. Now, they are focusing on space with the Apogee collection that celebrates India’s space program and the focus is on two unmanned moon missions – Chandrayaan-1 and Chandrayaan-2.
The original Apogee watches launched in 2019 with titanium cases, but the new Manzinus and Earthshine models use stainless steel with a ceramic outer layer of Cerakote. Both cases are 40mm in diameter and 12mm thick, with the main difference between the two being color - Manzinus is white and Earthshine is grey. There are two knurled crowns at 2 and 4 o’clock – the former screws down and rotates an internal bezel, while the latter (push/pull) adjusts the time and date.
The two watches also have dials that differ in color - brown on Earthsine and black on Manzinus. While Earthshine is very true to the original Apogee watch, with a round date window at 6 o’clock, Manzinus has a 9mm disc in lieu of the date of the Muonionalusta meteorite. Inside the watch is a standard grade Sellita SW200-1 automatic. Both versions of the watch come with color matching leather straps.
The Earthshine retails for USD 1,100, while the Manzinus is USD 1,470. Not cheap for a microbrand you might not have heard of before, but also consider that you get a Cerasteel case and interesting design.

American Indie Brand Vero Teams Up With Worn & Wound To Offer Up Their Entry For A Great Summer Watch
ADPT, a subsidiary of Worn&Wound that makes straps, watches and accessories, is known for making colorful and playful all-purpose watches. Vero, a US-based microbrand, is known for making rugged tool watches. Mash them together and you get the crazy Vero Workhorse Chronograph - huge, bold and ready for the summer. This will be a polarizing watch, for sure.
The steel case measures 44.5mm wide and 13.5mm thick, but this size is only appropriate for a watch so boldly colored. It gets a bright aqua blue Cerakote treatment finished with flecks of white and bright yellow bezel guards that the brand calls bullhorns. The same blue can be found on the dial and the running-seconds sub-register at 9 o’clock, while the hour and minute hands are painted in brighter blue to contrast with and match the dial. Lastly, the internal rotating bezel shows an alternation of red and blue accents, and the seconds hand as well as the bumpers holding the Cerakoted shroud in place are painted in bright yellow
The standard controls are on the left case side while the crown at two o'clock rotates the internal timing bezel. Inside is the Miyota 62S1 quartz chronograph movement, which offers 1/4 second resolution and a 60-minute maximum measure for the chronograph. This is is basically a chronograph diver, something also possible thanks to the 120m depth rating. To complete the package, the crystal is sapphire, and the Workhorse comes on a white nylon strap with a Velcro closure.
The Vero x ADPT Workhorse is limited to just 100 units and at the time of writing there are still pieces available on the Worn&Wound store and you can get one if you like it for $499.

Rudis Sylva Radically Simplifies The Harmonious Oscillator With The RS 23, It’s Still Very, Very Expensive
A small independent watchmaker located in the Swiss village of Les Bois, Rudis Sylva recently unveiled its latest creation. What sets Rudis Sylva apart is its Harmonious Oscillator. The brand now introduces the RS23, featuring a simpler version of this unique oscillator, now without a rotating carriage. This simplification also brings down the price significantly. But it’s still an outrageously priced watch.
Truly unique in its kind, the Rudis Sylva Harmonious Oscillator comprises of two balance wheels. As a rule, watchmakers avoid any potential stress on a balance wheel for it to breathe freely. In this case, the two balances are toothed and thus mechanically interlinked. The first balance is driven by the escapement, and in turn, it drives the second balance, rotating it in the opposite direction, but with the same amplitude while each hairspring breathes in an opposite way. The underlying idea is that these constantly opposed balances ensure immediate mutual correction of the potential negative effects of gravity.
Unlike previous versions of the Rudis Sylva Harmonious Oscillator, the regulator is not placed in a rotating carriage. This has allowed building the movement architecture in a symmetrical way with twin barrels creating a counterpoint to the balance wheels. And instead of an off-centred hour and minute display, we have a central indication of the hours, minutes and seconds. A stop-second mechanism allows for precise settings. It beats at a frequency of 3Hz and it boasts a 70h power reserve.
The beauty of a movement is housed in a 44mm titanium or pink gold case that has no bezel and a domed sapphire crystal to show of the movement as much as possible. The watch comes on an alligator strap with a pin buckle.
The Rudis Sylva Harmonious Oscillator RS 23 is released in two limited editions of 8 pieces in titanium and 8 pieces in pink gold. The price is set at CHF 80,000 in titanium and CHF 90,000 in 18k pink gold. A crazy price, yes, but consider the fact that the more complicated Harmonious Oscillator RS16 is priced at CHF 250,000.

Record Breaking Omega Turns Out To Be Frankenwatch Planted By Former Head of Omega Museum In Shocking Insider Scam
For a couple of days now the internet has been talking about an explosive report from the Neue Zürcher Zeitung which claims that the tropical Omega Speedmaster CK2915 that fetched 3.3 million US dollars at auction, obliterating records for the most expensive Omega ever sold, is, in fact a Frankenwatch. A watch put together out of mostly original parts to create the perfect CK2915 so that it would fetch the highest price.
However, those who follow the brilliant Joze Pereztroika over at Perezcope, have already known there is something seriously wrong with this watch since April. Now that the scheme to sell a fake watch has unraveled, the truth of what happened, or at least what we know so far, is so deeply shocking that it will likely bring huge changes to not only how watches are auctioned and authenticated, but also to manufacturer’s museums and their hunt for important vintage watches.
According to an Omega statement, “as it stands at present, there are three former employees (among them the former Head of OMEGA Museum and Brand Heritage), who have admitted to the run of events when confronted during an OMEGA internal investigation, which is active and ongoing”. Let that sink in. Three Omega insiders conspired to create a watch that the head of Omega Museum would end up bidding on at the record price.
Fratello writes that “although the three former Omega employees were not the sellers of the watch, they did play a role in modifying the Speedmaster to become a “perfect” reference CK2915. The Speedmaster CK2915 was assembled from various partially authentic parts. The three former Omega employees participated in this process, intending to create the most exciting CK2915, a watch that the Omega Museum would definitely need.”
This is an absolutely bonkers story. Please head on over to the Fratello article to learn more about it and how it will affect not just the prices of Speedmasters, but also the entire industry. And definitely head on over to the Perezcop to read how the fake Omega can be identified.

Watch Worthy - A look at an offbeat, less known watch you might actually like

The Cincinnati Concourse continues the brand’s commitment to local history
The Cincinnati Watch Co. Concourse is perhaps the most faithful recreation of a clock in a wristwatch (an admittedly niche market). The 38mm stainless steel case is likely to be divisive: blocky without mitigation, it is the result of taking the concourse clock and getting as close to it as possible. The clock featured a cushion bezel with a bowed square around it. This was translated to the wrist perfectly, with alternating brushed and polished surfaces distinguishing the different facets of the design.

2023.06.09 13:26 dakoriah182 gaming pc keeps crashing (BSOD). switched out the MOBO and it works a bit better. any ideas?

tl;dr: had a decent msi mobo, upgraded to a newer asus mobo. asus mobo worked for a while and started crashing on me. at first it would crash during gaming, then it would crash out of nowhere and then it would be able to fully boot up to the desktop maybe one out of 10 times or so. giving the BSOD code "WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR." did a SHIT TON of research and troubleshooting, and finally switched back to the msi mobo. after the mobo switch, everything was operational again, but will still crash every once in a great while giving the BSOD code: "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL." ive done a bit of research and troubleshooting and i think things are fine now? it hasnt crashed in a bit, but idk if its for sure fixed. im not even 100% sure if the mobo was the issue or not. (but at this point im like 95% sure it was the mobo). i still have the asus board, is there something i can do to fix/test it to make it functional again? id like to use it again, or at least have it as a back up or even sell it. but i have NO idea what to do at this point. im a bit tech savvy, but this issue has me completely baffled. only thing i havent done/feel comfortable doing, is updating the BIOS/UEFI im actually not even sure what that is entirely or why i need/should/how to update it. or if its even necessary to do. never ran into a problem like this or with motherboards in general. but at this point im a bit desperate lol

to start off, the specs:
OS: Windows 10 (2017)
MOBO: ASUS TUF Gaming x570 Plus WI-FI (NEWER MOTHERBOARD) (2020)
MSI Gaming Plus x479 (OLDER MOTHERBOARD) (2018/2019)
GPU: Nvidia EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 8GB (2018)
PSU: ThermalTake Toughpower GF1 ARGB 850w Gold (2019)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 4 X 16GB DDR4 (2019)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X (2019)
(idk if the following is necessary information or not, but for this situation im adding it just in case.)
COOLER: NZXT Z73 AIO (2019)
CASE: Cooler Master H500 (2017)
HDD/SDD/M.2: Samsung SSD 870 EVO 1TB (SSD) (2020)
CASE FANS: 7 x ThermalTake Riing Quad 14 (2020)
1 x ThermalTake Riing Quad 12 (2020)
MISC.: the case fans use a 9-pin connector that plugs into a "fan hub" or whatever and seeing as i decided to be stupid and spend too much money on stupid flashy upgrades i also had to pick up a NZXT internal USB hub to house all my shit

now heres the issue im trying to understand:
ive been building this PC little by little part by part. and at one point about a year ago, everything was with the specs above, but with the MSI mobo. after a little, i got the ASUS mobo. everything is still the same today, but with the MSI board again. the reason i went back to the MSI board is because for some reason my PC kept crashing out of nowhere with the ASUS board.
at first it would crash when i was gaming, but only for a PC game. then it would crash with any game (PC, emulator, solitaire master or similawhatever). so i thought it was the gpu, ive only messed with overclocking a few times for a little bit (10-15 minutes or so) just to mess around a bit, but not much more than that. and also im not the original owner. so i tested out an older gpu i had and it would still crash. so i feel like that wasnt an issue.
at first i thought a part was dying. everything (except the gpu) is brand new, or at least im the first owner. so after doing some research on what it could be, and troubleshooting everything, my PC still kept crashing. i reinstalled windows 10, pretty much took it all apart 100% and put it all back together, tested each individual stick of RAM on each of the 4 slots, reseated the CPU, put new thermal paste on the CPU, unplugged everything from everything and plugged everything back in, tried different cables for various components (used other SATA and Pcie cables etc.) and used different USB slots on the MOBO for any components that use them (case fans, internal USB hub.) every POSSIBLE thing i could test out in every which way of plugging in, ive most likely tried it. but for some reason my PC would still crash out of nowhere.
finally, i decided to switch out the motherboard. after that, everything worked and i was able to do everything again no problem. however, since switching mobos out, my pc will crash here and there for some reason. BSOD code: "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL." after researching that code, the potential reasons for the BSOD code dont make sense to me. (https://www.minitool.com/backup-tips/irql-not-less-or-equal-windows-10-021.html) the troubleshooting it recommended, i already did. so im not sure why it still keeps crashing. but it happens so rarely, i guess i can just deal with it...? i dont want to but idk what else to do. as for the newer motherboard (ASUS), the BSOD would flash for literally a fraction of a second. but was able to get the code: "WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR" i did a bit of research into that a while back but dont remember what it recommended i do. just remember that i tried to do what it recommended but couldnt really follow directions/dont know if i did it right/whatever.
has anyone dealt with anything like this before? is the new motherboard busted or do i need to update something? id like to have it functional again, either as a back up/replacement/sell it. but have run out of ideas of what to do.

2023.06.09 12:46 IraGulaSuperbia Full Build Friday - Katarina, the Sinister Blade

Full Build Friday - Katarina, the Sinister Blade
I've been sitting on a request for this build for a while, and I'm happy to finally share it!
Katarina the Sinister Blade
KATARINA, THE SINISTER BLADE
CHARACTER Katarina Du Couteau
SOURCE League of Legends
BUILD GOALS
o Born the eldest daughter of General Du Couteau, she was put through harsh and grueling training to become an assassin in service of Noxus
o She grew up hungry for her father's approval and continually tried to prove herself, even testing poisons on herself to build her resistance
o However, in her eagerness, she disobeyed an order and her own adoptive brother was sent after her - an encounter she survived, but not without earning her distinctive scar
o When her father disappeared, Kat sought to ingratiate herself to Swain, killing off his political rivals and aiding his ascension only for her father to reappear and warn against trusting him
o Nevertheless, she killed King Jarvan III of Demacia
o Kat wields a pair of blades that she has extraordinary control over due to a hemomantic ritual infusing them with her blood
o Her passive Voracity reduces her cooldowns on a kill and causes her to twirl, slicing around her whenever she picks up a dagger
o With her Bouncing Blade, she hurls a dagger that bounces between foes, dealing magic damage
o She can also throw a dagger into the air with Preparation, increasing her movement speed until it lands
o Shunpo causes Kat to blink to a target or one of her knives, slashing at everybody around her
o Death Lotus serves as her ultimate and causes her to launch a volley of knives in an area around her, damaging those close to her

BUILD CONCLUSION
As a citizen of Noxus born and raised to be an assassin, Katarina Du Couteau is represented as a human magus with the starlit span hybrid study and the hired killer background. Her dedication to being the best in her profession led to her testing poisons on herself to build up a resistance, represented by the Fast Recovery feat. Her favored weapons are a pair of blades that she can manipulate due to hemomantic rituals. Typically, these builds try to avoid relying on magical equipment to accomplish them, but a thrower’s bandolier is probably the best way to represent the array of knives she wields. For the cooldown effects of Voracity, Katarina uses Rapid Recharge and later Supreme Spellstrike to recharge her Spellstrike with greater ease. The spin effect of Voracity that triggers when she picks up her daggers comes from Spell Swipe, allowing her to Spellstrike and swing at multiple targets. Starlit Span helps cover Bouncing Blade though its multi-hit effect isn’t really achieved until she picks up Meteoric Spellstrike. Mechanics-wise, she uses speed-boosting spells such as warp step or fleet step for the effects of Preparation while options such as Lengthy Diversion and Bullseye plays a bit into the flavor of it. Katarina is reliant upon blink charge to create the effects of her Shunpo. Similarly, she relies on weapon storm to dish out her Death Lotus. This build creates an assassin capable of dishing out damage at range with her Spellstrikes but can also get with a Shunpo/blink charge, unleash a Death Lotus/weapon storm in the midst of her enemies, and then has tools to get back out.
PROJECT: Katarina
Over on the blog, I do a more detailed breakdown that covers several blocks of levels at a time and also features suggestions for playing the build in a free archetype game. I'll post the link to that in the comments so that folks can check it out at their leisure and so it doesn't prevent the post from going up. Lemme know what you think and who else you might like to see.
Have a fantastic Friday!

2023.06.09 10:31 Clbull Debating on getting a new Chromebook

I bought a really cheap Asus C202S Chromebook back in early 2019. Went with weak specs because my only intention was everyday web browsing and word processing (Google Docs & Microsoft Word.) Also because I only ever saw ChromeOS as a web browser operating system at the time and thought spending closer to £1000 on an overglorified Facebook machine (like the Pixelbook) was overkill. At the time Android support wasn't even a thing.
In retrospect that was a mistake.
Took less than a year for its performance to degrade significantly to the point where it takes several minutes to boot up. I'm now at the point where I'm no longer receiving ChromeOS updates and need to seek a new Chromebook.
Use case will be the same, but I do want decent Android support to use the mobile/tablet version of some apps like Word, Excel, etc.
Got a few questions:
  1. For my use case, what budget should I be aiming for? I don't particularly want to go with a sub-£200 Chromebook again, especially since Celeron processors suck and degrade fast.
  2. Am I correct in understanding that Chromebooks can now install and run Linux applications? If so, how is that support?
  3. Are there any other really good features that Chromebooks now have, aside from Android support?

2023.06.09 09:49 azki25 Laptop lagging in most games every 10-20sec

It's been doing this for awhile now. Game runs fine at 30-40fps for 10-20sec. Then frame rate plummets for 20-30sec. Then back to normal rinse and repeat.
I used to have this issue on my last full pc. Can't remember how I fixed it.
My SSD usage spikes and my GPU usage fluctuates aswel.
I keep thinking it's something scanning or indexing in the background but I can't for the life of me remember how I fixed it on my PC.
Almost like long microstutters
Any help would me greatly appreciated!

I know it's from 2019 but even with much older games well within it's spec this happens. 🤔

2023.06.09 06:47 HadoukenYourFace Please recommend a body shop for a Subaru Impreza (2019).

I have a 2019 Subaru Impreza that has a deep scratch and dent on the driver side door. I'd like it repaired. Any recommendations for a reputable body shop that would service this make and model?
My dealer, Lee's Summit Subaru does not do body work and referred me to Blue Springs Ford, but I'd prefer other recommendations just in case. For one, Blue Springs Ford doesn't offer loaners while your car is being serviced. Would love recommendations that include a loaner service.
Thank you.

“Trust me, I’ve been doing this for 30 years”
I took my 2018 Ford Raptor in to a mechanic for an alignment recently and this is the report that I was provided. I marked the castor and camber specs in red ink and asked the master technician why they are out of spec. His response, “Trust me, I’ve been doing this for 30 years. Your alignment is fine”
Is the technician correct?

2023.06.09 03:03 Trollinator7876 Enthusiast car that gets decent mpg?

Basically I might be taking a job that will have a 90 mile round trip commute through a major city (Houston). I've always been a firm believer that life is too short to drive boring cars- but I don't think my current line up would be great for commuting nearly 500 miles a week.
So what's something that can be fun to drive, but still get "decent" (as in 20+) mpg? Only comforts I care about are AC and radio. I'm open to a lot of brands except euros.
Currently in drive a 2010 Ford expedition EL, a 2004 ram 3500 dually, a 1993 Ford explorer (5spd, 4x4), and a 1964 Ford galaxie.
Not looking for anything new, don't want a car note. Budget will probably be 10-15k, I'd probably sell the expedition.
