So here’s why Raquel is the mastermind behind everything. We know she’s a fan of the show and then seeks out James and starts dating him to get on the show. She didn’t care about James constantly cheating on her because she never liked James and just wanted an in on the show. But this all kind of backfired because she was never really a star of the show like Brittany was so she makes sure to integrate herself with the rest of the group (become bffs w scheana and Ariana). She was never gonna marry James so she had to end it and does it in the most dramatic way possible right before the reunion. This makes her the star of the reunion and guarantees her spot on the show. She’s always hated lala because lala was never buying her bullshit act. She also never gave 2 shits about scheana and Ariana she just needed a reason to be on the show. She watched the show so she knows what went down w the whole Tom Ariana and Kristen thing. Tom and ariana were able to be bffs on the show and he spent season 2 making Kristen look crazy (and she definitely didn’t help herself). Now in season 3 Ariana gets on the show and everyone totally accepts this relationship. She becomes a star of the show and the main couple of VPR. Raquel and Tom had a plan to do the same thing where they bond next season over getting out of these long term abusive relationships and start dating and make Ariana and James look like horrible crazy people. If they weren’t caught this totally would’ve worked. Everyone would’ve been like yay Raquel she found her voice and found someone who makes her feel “seen.” She doesn’t show any empathy towards ariana and scheana because they never were true friends in her eyes just a means to an end. And I don’t think she even really liked Sandoval she just saw this as a way to secure her spot as the star of VPR. That’s why she’s able to give that interview at the end and betray him. Now she needs to pivot and make it look like Tom was manipulating her and she had to keep up all his lies.

I (26f) lost my brother James two years ago. His girlfriend May (27f) and my nephew Nick (5) lived in the same city, so I always made sure to check on them. I fixed their electronics and got Nick to and from school and other things. I also offered to babysit if May would like a night out but that rarely happened. May tended to keep to herself and I believe she still mourned my brother.
Half a year ago there was a break in at their place. May and Nick were scared, so I offered to have them stay with me. I inherited my parents’ house, so there are plenty of room for them. Nick is happy with all the yard and play space my house offers. We have great evenings and weekends together, watching movies and playing board games. As May is a great cook and I love having Nick around, I have no problem letting them stay with me as long as they need.
May’s mother is not happy with this arrangement, I recently learned. I met her twice before my brother passed and once after. She was very bossy and May always seemed frazzled when she had to deal with her. May told me her mother was pressuring her to date again and I didn’t know what to say other than I would always be glad to take care of Nick so she could go on a date or have a night out or whatever. May said she appreciated that.
Somehow May’s mother got my number and called, saying it’s my fault May refuse to date again. She said May feel so comfortable being with me that she sees no need to move out and start a romantic relationship. She said Nick needs a father figure in his life and I should insist that May move out, date again, and make the most of her youth instead of enabling May to not get out there and start over.
My gut reaction was along the line of STFU, woman, May is an adult and she can do what she wants. However, my parents passed when I was fairly young and James and I pretty much only had each other, so I don’t know how much family has a say in this kind of things. I’m also AroAce so I know very little about dating, so here I am asking Reddit for advice.

God is almighty. He loves us all no matter what sins we've done in the past. Sins are acts that go against the ten commandments in the Bible.
I feel that love and understanding of others should be one of our top priorities in life, we should never judge others because we haven't lived their life, we don't understand the complexity of their minds, their experiences, their feelings, their fears and why they do the things they do. Remember that we are not our thoughts we are higher than our thoughts. Just because we think something, does not make it so. We can choose to accept or reject it. We should respect one another and not pull others down we do not agree with, we're all human no one is better than anyone else. People do things we don't agree with, all we can do is live our life and trust God's plan for ourselves. We should never compare ourselves to others, we're all special. We all have something to give to others, we're all good at something. Some are smarter in some ways than others, but we all have a speciality we should use for God.
We shouln't assume things about others, always find out facts before jumping to conclusions. Im very quiet and sometimes people, I feel, mistake my quietness for ignorance or that I'm hiding something sinister. I'm quiet because im shy, respectful to others and I value others opinion, I like listening to others, im humble and sometimes silence speaks more than words.
I want to help others and the first step is understanding their problems. We all have unique battles to face both in the world and within ourselves, and God helps us along the way. I feel a good first step is to remember your thoughts arnt always facts, just because a lot of people hold the same opinion they feel it adds more weight to something, however sometimes everyone is wrong...only God is right.
Things happen in our lives that we don't like. Life is grossly unfair sometimes...we have some living their best life and we have a lot of poor people suffering in silence and in poverty. God can't control our actions or the actions of others and sometimes things happen without warning. I know God watches over all of us. We're not all robots under Gods command...we wouldnt be free. He gave us all free will, he guides us all if we love one another and him, he shows us things to test us sometimes and he tries to help us become more like his son Jesus. If everything was perfect in our lives and if we lived forever here on Earth we wouldn't need to go to heaven, we'd already be there.
I belive life is a test of our faith, those who push themselves to the top at the expense of others will be judged unfavourably, if you love others and put God first, its like a guarantee that your life has meaning and purpose. By sinning your whole life and not listening to what God trys to tell you, its a risk, a very big risk. Its a risk we shouldn't take, no one is sure about what happens when we die, wouldn't it be wiser to inherit a place in heaven through Jesus Christ then to cast it all away and not listen to God's message of love and peace. Jesus loves us all so much that he died for our sins in the most brutal and painful way possible, he was blameless and he made the ultimate sacrifice for us all, not because of greed or selfishness but because he loves us all! And then he rose again! no man can do this only God can do this!
I feel God forgives all sins you just have to realise this and stop sinning when you are introduced to God, if you know full well what you are doing is wrong, why do it? No one is beyond redemption...no one. Everyone has the power to be strong in faith even if your body is weak. You can accomplish anything with God...if you are pure hearted and your motives are true to God. Let God strengthen you, no harm can come to your soul with God at your side, your body will wither away and die but your soul will live forever with God, you don't have to be afraid of anything. Suffering is temporary, you dont have to be scared once God is in your life, it may not seem like it, but the reward at the end is worth it, we have no idea how much love and warmth and belonging you have with God, all are welcome...he knows everything about each and every one of us, he created us all, after all, he knows our pasts, our futures, our feelings, what we choose and why... everything. He wants us all to be by his side, but he knows many will reject him but those that join him in the kingdom of heaven he will cherish forever, he knows the outcome of everything, God planned it all from the start of existence, God is perfect, God is love. Praise the almighty God and his Son Jesus Christ Hallelujah!
I believe the devil influences people on Earth but with God nothing can harm you. Gods armour is impenetrable. Innocents suffer, why? how can God let this happen? it is not God it is the sin we let into the world. Why do we sin? to impress others? to fit in? selfishness? Its not worth it in the end, make a stand and be unlike what is in 'fashion' at this time and dont pay attention and copy what others are doing, make up your own mind. These days a lot of people generally do whatever they want regardless of whether they should... life without God is chaos, we turn to ourselves and become selfish...we turn into our own Gods. People influence others. People can justify anything in their minds on issues regarding what's morally right and wrong. Remember, God is perfect, no man or woman can compare. God is always right. He should always come first in everything we do. He made us all and he's very real, not just in our minds, trust me! What is seen on Earth comes from the transient world we let sin into, what is unseen is eternal. We could never conclusively prove God exists or doesn't exist through science, God has thought of everything his children may do in the world...if we knew God exists life would not be a test.
I feel we should never harm others...physically, emotionally in anyway. Put yourself in others shoes not because God tells you to in the Bible but because you could have been the other person in that position, how would you feel if roles were reversed? When you sin it affects not only youself, but the other person on the recieving end...revenge, hate and anger may be on the minds of the victim this is the aftermath of sin. Learn to forgive and forget, understand when you're in that position on the recieving end of sin to turn the other cheek...God is forgiving and we should be too.
That thing you've been thriving for your whole life that is Earthly, that one thing that slips through your fingers everytime...you don't need it, all you need is God's love. In heaven, that thing you wanted here on Earth can't even compare. Life is hard, it would be nice with that thing you wanted, but do you really need it? try to think that if situations were different the thing might never have been there to recieve in the first place, so dont worry that you dont get what you want on Earth. Others have lived before you without it, what makes you more privileged than them...we are all children of God.
When you are weak you are strong, when you have nothing and life has taken everything from you...God is at his closest to you. When you see no hope of a better future, God protects you...hes always there he won't let you take a burden alone. He loves us so much...we are his children, he'll NEVER leave us. Your relationship with God should be that he's the Father and we are the child, he knows better than us...he sees what we do not see, we know it is to protect us, he should be respected and feared to prevent us from sinning becuase he doesnt want us to fail and make mistakes.
I've become angered at others for their sins against me in the past, I have suffered at the hands of others, it has sometimes overwhelmed me, I've made mistakes and im far too hard on myself, i havn't been well in the last few weeks and months but with God at the core of my life now I have great understanding and peace. My love for my wife and our daugther and all my family members shines through, I never want to stray from God and I know I dont have to worry about anything because God is watching over me and my family at all times.
I belive God is perfect you can't deny him, with his help I'm becoming wiser everyday, God never changes and neither should we once we've found him in our lives. I feel the world overcomplicates things, i just want to put my opinion accross to share what ive been through and shown by God in my life. He has given me so much wisdom everything I've said here God has shown me in some way or another, hes shown me some amazing things, I'm just spreading his word....I dont want wealth or fame, i dont want anything in return, I just want to help God save his children in these dark times. I hope this helps someone and helps them realise there's more than what we see here on Earth.
I try to be like Jesus in every aspect of my life. I know I love God and everyone he has made regardless of their actions, because I know why they do the things they do, the mind can be an overwhelming place and thoughts can easily turn into actions we regret...we are all so different. Katy Perry is another person. Her voice is a gift from God. At the beginning of her career, she started out as a Gospel singer but not too long after, she "sold her SOUL to the devil." She regrets it today, but after tasting the forbidden fruit, her desire to eat more has devoured her completely.
Steve Harvey is a famous comedian and hosts many wholesome family shows. He was once a homeless man. It's surprising! He is always well-dressed and never forgets his past. He gives credit to God for his success and always prays in secrecy. He does not announce to the whole world that he is a Christian, as the relationship is between him and God, unlike Justine Beaver always announcing to the world he is a Christian. Steve Harvey gives back to society in a big way, but he does not tell the whole world all that he gives. With wealth comes responsibilities, this is God's desire.

I feel like I’m going crazy listening to the recap podcasts and the news articles that compare Scandoval to the other cast members prior cheating. It completely baffles me how we are still saying what Jax and Kristen did, or James and Lala, or Ariana and Tom, or Schwartz and his merry-go-round are the same as Scandoval.
First let me say, cheating in any capacity is wrong, and I won’t defend the actions of past seasons. My point is this: we know for a fact that these indiscretions were made from people who were new to fame and notoriety, they were one time flings (yes, even all the times Jax cheated on Brittany, which I again am not condoning).
What makes scandoval different? This was a man who had been famous for 10 years, 9 of which were supposed to be committed to his partner. (Side note, I fully believe he engaged regularly with one time stands throughout their relationship) But the affair of it all is the difference. We’re talking about two people who didn’t just sleep together one time. They continued for months. That’s a different level of depravity that even Jax has not stooped to.
And then to listen to Rachel say in the reunion “we made a mistake, the way it was handled was a mistake”
These were a series of choices you made to intentionally deceive your friends and partners for an extended period of time. On top of what I believe to be an emotional affair that’s been going on for at least 18 months.
I’m just getting really tired of the comparison to James and Lala who have said repeatedly they were both new to their relationships when they hooked up (and no one has ever confirmed if both relationships were deemed exclusive at the time of the hookup). I’m getting tired of bringing in Ariana and Tom’s start (though I again believe it started with an emotional affair). I’m getting tired of Jax and Kristen’s twice upon a couch being compared to the total annihilation of a partnership that was akin to a marriage as “well you’ve all cheated before”

If that's the case then he should have no reason to know who they are. But sure, let's say the eyebots were floating around pre-Vault 101 and that James made some idle chatter with a BrotheSister of Steel and learned about the Enclave via that way. Okay, sure. Well then how can James identify the Enclave in brand-new, never-before-seen Advanced Power Armour Mk II, with unmarked vertibirds, all from what I can only assume was a potato-quality reel-based security camera (seriously, how did he even see them) and somehow, as a man of science, know enough about the Enclave that within 5 seconds of them landing they are absolutely, unequivocally hostile? There's just too many questions regarding James' seemingly precognitive knowledge of who the Enclave are despite there being so little knowledge of them going around by the time of Project Purity. Hell, even some members of the Brotherhood itself have to have a double take to make sure, oh okay, yes, that really is the Enclave. So what gives? Did Liam Neeson read ahead in the script? Or, is there perhaps a reason why James has such seemingly amazing knowledge of the Enclave? Maybe, just speculating here, James actually was former Enclave. It would explain why he knows about them so well. It also sheds some light on why James is so seemingly skilled. Not only is he a genius when it comes to both medicine (doctor) and science (Purity) but the old man managed to cross the entirety of the Capital Wasteland by himself with the worst pistol in the game. If James really was just some talented scientist and nothing else then how did he manage to, at the very least, get past the random animals you find in the wastes and the actual super mutants in the Jefferson Memorial? Dude must be badass or at the very least a ninja when it comes to stealth. Very odd set of skills for some wastelander. At the end of the day, I do very much like how little you know of James as the Lone Wanderer. Even until the end, there were mysteries to your father you just won't get answers for and that makes his death all the more tragic. But, yeah, in my headcanon the Lone Wanderer is at least 50% Enclave.

There's just too many questions regarding James' seemingly precognitive knowledge of who the Enclave are despite there being so little knowledge of them going around by the time of Project Purity. Hell, even some members of the Brotherhood itself have to have a double take to make sure, oh okay, yes, that really is the Enclave.

So what gives? Did Liam Neeson read ahead in the script? Or, is there perhaps a reason why James has such seemingly amazing knowledge of the Enclave? Maybe, just speculating here, James actually was Enclave. It would explain why he knows about them so well. It also sheds some light on why James is so seemingly skilled. Not only is he a genius when it comes to both medicine (doctor) and science (Purity) but the old man managed to cross the entirety of the Capital Wasteland by himself with the worst pistol in the game. If James really was just some talented scientist and nothing else then how did he manage to, at the very least, get past the random animals you find in the wastes and the actual super mutants in the Jefferson Memorial? Dude must be badass or at the very least a ninja when it comes to stealth. Very odd set of skills for some wastelander.

At the end of the day, I do very much like how little you know of James as the Lone Wanderer. Even until the end, there were mysteries to your father you just won't get answers for and that makes his death all the more tragic.
But, yeah, in my headcanon the Lone Wanderer is at least 50% Enclave.

I’m a Boone/Shannon shipper. They had a lot of chemistry together and were super good looking.
I’ve always been sad and disappointed that Boone and Shannon’s arcs and their relationship was cut short and never fully resolved. Boone died never fully realising how much Shannon loved and appreciated him. Shannon was full of regret after Boone’s death that she never had an honest conversation with him about everything that happened.
All of this is why I was so underwhlemed in the final season when Shannon reunited with Sayid in the flashsideways. It felt like a disservice to Boone and Shannon because it wasn’t true to either character or their relationship. Boone and Shannon were always truly there for each other. This connection that they shared and the nuances of their relationship are the reason I’ll always love Shannon and Boone.

My best friend has been “seeing” a woman on and off for 2 years. Call him Jeff and her Mary. She attended college with us and they had a little fling in which Jeff cheated WITH Mary on his then gf of over 5 years. Years later, they reconnected. He won’t commit to Mary or even acknowledge that they’re together and has already cheated while they were “on.” All of that but they use pet names and say “I love you.”
At first, Mary would come over to our apartment and was cordial. Then it became less conversational to the point of nothing whatsoever. We are of the same culture, Mary included. In our culture, greeting someone when you enter their home is good manners. Even if it’s a home you frequent. It’s just how we have been raised. I thought.
My other roommate, John, also has a gf who is here often too but she’s friendly. Both being in “relationships” means they hang out often. They never invite me.
That being said, I am not single. My fiancée and I are long distance. Whenever she comes to visit, she stays with me. Friends love her, Mary ignores her too.
When I’ve tried talking about it, Jeff either disregards it or he downplays it and chalks it up to “that’s just how Mary is.” I genuinely don’t know what that means.
I tried extending an olive branch in the past and invited them all out the night I proposed to celebrate. This night was the tipping point. Another friend of mine, call him James, joined us and proposed a toast. This toast was beautiful. My fiancée was tearing up. At about the 2 minute mark, Mary mutters “Oh my god hurry up” just loud enough for us close by to hear. James immediately, “Oh I’m sorry, do you have somewhere else you need to be? Because you can just go if you want.” And continued. Fucking legend. Jeff laughed it off and didn’t acknowledge it. The toast is finished, we celebrate. Mary is sitting there on her cell phone not speaking to anyone and asks Jeff if they can leave early. This was almost a year ago and since, I’ve given her the exact same treatment. I don’t tolerate disrespect of my relationship.
Now, Mary will say a quiet “hi” or “bye.” I theorize that Jeff told her in private that what she did that night wasn’t okay and she needs to make an effort. But it’s too late. She sure as hell won’t be invited to my wedding. John thinks I should let her go to my wedding and should consider that that’s just how she is and that we should “support our friends choices” but I’m not letting that slide. I KNOW he’s going to be upset and shocked when I tell him but he can fuck off too.
I’ve genuinely self-reflected and contemplated multiple times if perhaps I’m the asshole. But, although I am quiet and reserved, I am by no means rude to anyone. I’ve been told before that I am unapproachable but never rude. So if Mary doesn’t like me, idk why. I have also realized that my living situation isn’t ideal due to this tension. I’m planning to leave and pursue my plans with my fiancee and know that a disconnect will likely form. I’ve accepted that.

It could start with Lucius realizing that Harry Potter is one of the most popular and influential people in all of the wizarding world, which means being on good terms with him would only help to strengthen their influence and reach.
So the Malfoys upon hearing from Draco about his interactions with Harry and his friends decide to take him aside and have a serious discussion about his actions and relationship with Harry.
While Lucius would hope that Harry would someday regard Draco as a best friend, he'd also understand that wasn't something that could be guaranteed considering Draco's past actions. But honestly even just being considered a close friend with Harry would still be a boon for the Malfoys.
As such Lucius would make it abundantly clear that Draco would not only need to apologize to Harry and his friends and build a friendship with them but he'd also need to keep all his prejudices and controversial opinions behind closed doors.
Draco could use the fact that he and Harry are related as a tool to soften Harry up to the idea of giving Draco a chance. He could then use introducing Harry to his family history as a foundation to build their relationship upon.
Further built upon Draco extending his attempt to build a good friendship towards Harrys best friends Ron and Hermione (the two people who are most important to convince if he wants his friendship with Harry to work). He could not only go out of his way to also spend time with them but also use his familys wealth and resources to help influence a positive opinion.
Of course Malfoy and Narcissa would have to play their parts as well. Such as Lucius no longer going out of his way to antagonize the Weasleys (though im sure Ron and Harry's getting close to the Malfoys would definitely ruffle Arthur's feathers lol)
Along the way Draco begins to think of the golden trio as his friends. And while he does change for the better (like his opinions on half-bloods and muggleborns), he still has some opinions that would be frowned upon (such as his opinions about Hagrid, and muggles just in general)
Perhaps the Malfoys come to genuinely care about Harry over time, something that would make it all the more complicated when Voldemort returns. Because while they might care about Harry, I dont think that means Lucius and Narcissa would be willing to stand against Voldemort for him, unless one of their own are directly in danger. After all doing to would put their family's lives at risk (and if nothing else the Malfoys do genuinely love each other).

This might be controversial but I was thinking about the whole Taylor Swift/Matty Healy stuff going on right now and it made me wonder if James and Maggie dated for publicity for the show? It just made me curious how they dated for so long but it seemed to coincide with the run of the show and they still seem pretty close/friendly. I would have assumed that the end of a long relationship like that might be pretty messy / make it hard to keep making Psych movies & remain friends (but that could honestly just be me projecting from my own past breakups lol). Thoughts?

Im not usually one to post about these things but maybe this will help…
I’m a 21 Female who is a college student with 3 roommates, let’s call them abby, Bella, and Charlie (all the same age and gender as well). We are all best friends, like truly, they are some of the sweetest, most bestest friends I could ever ask for. I can be my most complete self around them, they are always so loyal and there for me, and I see them almost as sisters. I got really lucky with this group. Living with these group of girls isn’t the problem, it’s who Bella is dating that’s the problem.
I met Bella in a dorm residency last year. We met our entire friendgroup of boys and girls at the same time. Charlie, started dating a boy around the time we all met, and we all love him. He’s very kind to her, and although they have their ups and downs, I can see he’s a genuine guy who cares about her. We met Abby just this year, and she’s dating a guy rn who I wouldn’t say is good or bad, he’s a fairly average individual. And then there’s Bella, who is dating James. And this is where the issues start.
James is, in my personal opinion, the most obvious narcissist that ever existed. From the moment I met him, I could tell something was off about him. Our entire friendgroup never liked him, although when we were around him we pretended we did. From the beginning he was very self centered, acted bubbly and fun but would always make everything about himself, all of the time. He could never handle anyone having any sort of success, he always either made it about himself, had to prove why he was better, or made passive aggressive comments, to both the boys and the girls. He is constantly a devils advocate about EVERYTHING, even shit that is 100 percent true, like Hitler being an evil person (something he has in fact argued about when it was brought up). He makes people feel insecure about things, and then reminds them of it constantly. He plays mind games to make you think you’re crazy, or that the knowledge you have about things is false because he knows better. And yet, he’s also deeply insecure, something he would never admit but it’s obvious. He’s insecure about his weight most of all, which is something none of us bring up but we know it’s true. I’ve never seen anything like it.
Anyways, he met Bella, and instantly became attached to her. It was almost like he claimed her when he met her. Bella did not like him at all, but the way he pursued her was something I’ve never seen before. It was almost like he knew she would be his. Eventually he pursued so hard that despite all of the bad shit he’s done, he won her over, and that was that. She’s been dating him for over a year. This is also Bella’s first relationship, and she is the sweetest, kindest soul on the planet.
Hang in there, I’m almost done. I know that because Bella is so forgiving and kind, she is the perfect victim for him. She has her insecurities as well, even though she shouldn’t, and some would say she’s a “people pleaser”. And I feel sad that she’s in this relationship with James, and that there’s nothing I can do to help her until she realizes on her own. The problem is, James takes out his insecurities on all of us, all 3 roommates. He’s called me fat before, he’s made comments about our roommate who is a nurse (told her she deserved to be slapped at work) he has said some awful shit to all 3 of us that I won’t even get into, and his presence is so bad we all hide in our rooms when he comes over. He purposefully tries to dominate us in a weird way when he comes over, like he knows we don’t enjoy his presence and loves it. I’ve told Bella how I feel about him, I’ve gone off on him before, but I’m not sure how much more I can take. I understand being with someone even if they’re not 100 percent a good person, but I don’t understand how she can overlook his behavior to her best friends. He emotionally abuses us, and we’re all so tired of being around him. I get all of the physical symptoms of anxiety around him, I almost can’t stomach it. I have to smoke weed every time he comes over, or leave the apartment.
Any advice? How can I handle my best friends boyfriend who is a narc but takes it out on us as well? How can I not let this affect my relationship with Bella? Any advice is appreciated.

On Aug. 22, about 2½ months from today, the most significant development in international finance since 1971 will be unveiled.
It involves the rollout of a major new currency that could weaken the role of the dollar in global payments and ultimately displace the U.S. dollar as the leading payment currency and reserve currency.
It could happen in just a few years.
The process by which this will happen is unprecedented, and the world is unprepared for this geopolitical shock wave.
This monetary shock will be delivered by a group called the BRICS.
The acronym BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
This play for global reserve currency status by the BRICS will affect world trade, direct foreign investment and investor portfolios in dramatic and unforeseen ways.
The most important development in the BRICS system concerns the expansion of BRICS membership. This has led to the informal adoption of the name BRICS+ for the expanded organization.
There are currently eight nations that have formally applied for membership and 17 others that have expressed interest in joining. The eight formal applicants are: Algeria, Argentina, Bahrain, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
The 17 countries that have expressed interest are: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Sudan, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
There’s more to this list than just increasing the headcount at future BRICS meetings.
If Saudi Arabia and Russia are both members, you have two of the three largest energy producers in the world under one tent (the U.S. is the other member of the energy Big Three).
If Russia, China, Brazil and India are all members, you have four of the seven largest countries in the world measured by landmass possessing 30% of the Earth’s dry surface and related natural resources.
Almost 50% of the world’s wheat and rice production as well as 15% of the world’s gold reserves are in the BRICS.
Meanwhile, China, India, Brazil and Russia are four of the nine highest-population countries on the planet with a combined population of 3.2 billion people or 40% of the Earth’s population.
China, India, Brazil, Russia and Saudi Arabia have a combined GDP of $29 trillion or 28% of nominal global GDP. If one uses purchasing power parity to measure GDP, then the BRICS share is over 54%. Russia and China have two of the three largest nuclear arsenals in the world (the other leader is the United States).
By every measure — population, landmass, energy output, GDP, food output and nuclear weapons — BRICS is not just another multilateral debating society. They are a substantial and credible alternative to Western hegemony.
BRICS acting together is one pole of a new multipolar or even bipolar world.
When the new currency launch is announced in August, the currency will not fall on an empty field. It will fall into a sophisticated network of capital and communications. This network will greatly enhance its chances of success.
The BRICS are also developing an optical fiber submarine telecommunications system that would connect its members. It is being developed under the name BRICS Cable. Part of the motivation for BRICS Cable is to foil spying by the U.S. National Security Agency on message traffic carried through existing cable networks.
What’s behind this quest to ditch the dollar? In no small part the answer is U.S. weaponization of the dollar through the use of sanctions.
On numerous occasions from 2007–2014, I warned U.S. officials from the Treasury, Pentagon and intelligence community that overuse or abuse of dollar sanctions would lead adversaries to abandon the dollar to avoid the impact of sanctions.
Such abandonment would lead to the diluted potency of sanctions, unforeseen costs imposed on the U.S. and eventually to the collapse of confidence in the dollar itself. These warnings were mostly ignored.
We have now reached the first and second stages of this forecast and are dangerously close to the third.
For years, the U.S. has used sanctions to punish nations like Iran. But the sanctions the U.S. and its allies imposed on Russia after it invaded Ukraine last year went far beyond previous sanctions regimes. They were unprecedented.
Many other nations began to conclude that they could be next if they run afoul of the U.S. on certain issues. And that fear has greatly accelerated the push to opt out of the dollar system entirely.
This desire is not limited to current targets such as Russia but is shared by potential targets including China, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Argentina and many others.
The BRICS+ present a realistic effort to de-dollarize global payments and eventually global reserves.
For years, I’ve argued that the dollar would remain the world’s leading reserve currency for longer than most people think.
But below, I show you why a new BRICS+ currency could greatly accelerate the demise of the dollar as the world’s leading reserve currency.
How could it happen so much faster than I previously thought? Read on.
The Coming Shock to the Global Monetary System The global desire to move away from the dollar as a medium of exchange for international trade in goods and services is hardly new. The difference today is that it’s gone from a discussion point to a novelty to a looming reality in a remarkably short period of time.
Dubai and China have recently concluded an arrangement whereby Dubai will accept Chinese yuan in payment for oil exports from Dubai. In turn, Dubai can use the yuan to buy semiconductors or manufactured goods from China.
Saudi Arabia and China have been discussing similar oil-for-yuan arrangements but nothing definitive has yet been put in place. These discussions are made complicated by Saudi Arabia’s long-standing petrodollar deal with the U.S. Still, some progress along these lines is widely expected.
China and Brazil have recently reached a broad-based bilateral currency deal where each country accepts the currency of the other in trade. Meanwhile, there’s a growing strategic relationship between China and Russia as the two superpowers jointly confront the United States. In the trading relationship between the two nations, Russia can pay in rubles for Chinese manufactured goods and other exports while China pays in yuan for Russian energy, strategic metals and weapons systems.
Yet all these arrangements may soon be superseded by a new BRICS+ currency, which will be announced in Durban, South Africa, at the annual BRICS Leaders’ Summit Conference on Aug. 22–24.
The currency will be pegged to a basket of commodities for use in trade among members. Initially, the BRICS+ commodity basket would include oil, wheat, copper and other essential goods traded globally in specified quantities.
In all likelihood, the new BRICS+ currency would not be available in the form of paper notes for use in everyday transactions. It would be a digital currency on a permissioned ledger maintained by a new BRICS+ financial institution with encrypted message traffic to record payments due or owing by participating parties. (This is not a cryptocurrency because it is not decentralized, not maintained on a blockchain and not open to all parties without approval.)
The latest information from the BRICS working groups is that this basket valuation methodology is encountering the same problems that John Maynard Keynes encountered at the Bretton Woods meetings in 1944.
Keynes initially suggested a basket of commodities approach for a world currency he called the bancor. The difficulty is that global commodities included in any basket are not entirely fungible (there are over 70 grades of crude oil distinguished by viscosity and sulfur content among other attributes).
In the end, Keynes saw that a basket of commodities is not necessary and that a single commodity — gold — would better serve the purpose of anchoring a currency for reasons of convenience and uniformity.
Based on the impracticality of commodity baskets as uniform stores of value, it appears likely that the new BRICS+ currency will be linked to a weight of gold.
This plays to the strengths of BRICS members Russia and China, who are the two largest gold producers in the world and are ranked sixth and seventh respectively among the 100 nations with gold reserves.
These and related developments are frequently touted as the “end of the dollar as a reserve currency.” Such comments reveal a lack of understanding as to how the international monetary and currency systems actually work.
The key mistake in almost all such analyses is a failure to distinguish between the respective roles of a payment currency and a reserve currency. Payment currencies are used in trade for goods and services. Nations can trade in whatever payment currency they want — it doesn’t have to be dollars.
Reserve currencies (so-called) are different. They’re essentially the savings accounts of sovereign nations that have earned them through trade surpluses. These balances are not held in currency form but in the form of securities.
When analysts say the dollar is the leading reserve currency, what they actually mean is that countries hold their reserves in securities denominated in a specific currency. For 60% of global reserves, those holdings are U.S. Treasury securities denominated in dollars. The reserves are not actually in dollars; they’re in securities.
As a result, you cannot be a reserve currency without a large, well-developed sovereign bond market. No country in the world comes close to the U.S. Treasury market in terms of size, variety of maturities, liquidity, settlement, derivatives and other necessary features.
So the real impediment to another currency as a reserve currency is the absence of a bond market where reserves are actually invested. That’s why it’s so difficult to displace Treasuries as reserve assets even if you wanted. Again, no country in the world can come close to the U.S. in that regard.
But here’s where it gets interesting, and why the dollar could lose its leading reserve status much faster than previously thought.
That’s because the BRICS+ currency offers the opportunity to leapfrog the Treasury market and create a deep, liquid bond market that could challenge Treasuries on the world stage almost from thin air.
The key is to create a BRICS+ currency bond market in 20 or more countries at once, relying on retail investors in each country to buy the bonds.
The BRICS+ bonds would be offered through banks and postal offices and other retail outlets. They would be denominated in BRICS+ currency but investors could purchase them in local currency at market-based exchange rates.
Since the currency is gold backed it would offer an attractive store of value compared with inflation- or default-prone local instruments in countries like Brazil or Argentina. The Chinese in particular would find such investments attractive since they are largely banned from foreign markets and are overinvested in real estate and domestic stocks.
It will take time for such a market to appeal to institutional investors, but the sheer volume of retail investing in BRICS+-denominated instruments in India, China, Brazil and Russia and other countries at the same time could absorb surpluses generated through world trade in the BRICS+ currency.
In short, the way to create an instant reserve currency is to create an instant bond market using your own citizens as willing buyers.
The U.S. did something similar in 1917. From 1790–1917, the U.S. bond market was for professionals only. There was no retail market. That changed during World War I when Woodrow Wilson authorized Liberty Bonds to help finance the war.
There were bond rallies and Liberty Bond parades in every major city. It became a patriotic duty to buy Liberty Bonds. The effort worked, and it also transformed finance. It was the beginning of a world where everyday Americans began to buy stocks, bonds and securities as retail investors.
If the BRICS+ use a kind of Liberty Bond patriotic model, they may well be able to create international reserve assets denominated in the BRICS+ currency even in the absence of developed market support.
This entire turn of events — introduction of a new gold-backed currency, rapid adoption as a payment currency and gradual use as a reserve asset currency — will begin on Aug. 22, 2023, after years of development.
Except for direct participants, the world has mostly ignored this prospect. The result will be an upheaval of the international monetary system coming in a matter of weeks.

I don't want this to get political WHATSOEVER but I had a thought. It's been bugging me about how or why the DOPSR report is allowing Grusch to make these statements. What his lawyer former ICIG Charles McCullough knows, and how they formed their relationship. They did not work together previously. McCullough was out as ICIG in 2017 and Grusch joined the UAP taskforce in 2019. HOWEVER, McCullough blew the whistle on an unclassified email server in 2016 that contained

seven e-mail chains concern matters that were classified at the Top Secret/Special Access Program level when they were sent and received.

It was very easy to dismiss this as a nutty email. But if what David Grusch says is true, I think it will give what I hope is a positive perspective on the situation. Like I said please throw politics out the window and take a look, or delete the post if irrelevant. I would have posted in a different subreddit, but I feel like this is the only place taking this seriously.
