...and it just sucks. It's gotten worse (shockingly) in the past, oh, 7 years or so.
Her most recent Facebook post is a heart-shaped American flag with "this is my pride flag" underneath it.
Two of her kids have come out as bisexual in the past few years.
What a horrible human being. I'm so bummed that she continues to know no bounds with her ability to be so damn tone deaf.

2023.06.05 05:00 Venting_AITA ATIA for staying friends with a homophobe

I (18F) have a friend (22M) we have been friends for a while now and I would like to think of myself as an open-minded person while my friend let's call him Bob isn't as much. He is not an asshole at all in my perspective. We both have the kind of policy of ''If we don't have something nice to say we keep it to ourselves''

Now Bob doesn't like transgenders, custom and they/them pronoun. He accepts; Homosexuals, Lesbians, and Bisexuals. But that is where he keeps it at. When interacting with, trans or people who use they/them pronoun he doesn't act differently towards them. He acts respectfully and goes about his day.
Now there happened to be this one day when we were all hanging outside and the topic arose of sexualities etc. Bob kept his mouth shut since he would not have anything nice to say and just listened along while keeping silent.
Well the attention drifted towards Bob as one of my friends let's call her Diana asked him about his opinion on the LGBTQA+ etc. Bob diverted the question en we went on about our day.
Well Diana kept bugging Bob about the matter during the day and which Bob responded with ''I don't like trans people''. The group went silent for a bit and some girls in the group called Bob an asshole. The day ended quickly after that and some people in the group are cutting him out and bashing him for saying what he said.

I don't think he is too blame.. I don't think anything is wrong with having your preferences and likes as long as you are respectful about it and still treat anyone as you want to be treated.. just like bob is doing. He tried to divert the question but was pushed to an answer.

Diana is not talking to me anymore after I told her what I thought on the matter which after she came clean about being a transgender herself. Which would explain her reaction. But I still thought it was wrong to get mad at him and making the friend group chose a side because of his preferences.

I have the feeling I am being reasonable because he is a nice guy and would never push his beliefs down someone throat or even think of being mean or rude to someone with different beliefs.

AITA?

2023.06.05 04:57 fm123455 30 [TF4TF/ENBY] Poly Trans gal Looking for friends (or more) in Philly

Hey y'all, this is the first time I've done something like this but I figured it probably doesn't hurt to try.
I am:
I'm a recent Texan Asylum seeker who ended up in Philly somehow. I've got no friends in the area, and it's just me, my ace partner, and my dog.
I ended up getting hurt during the move and am feeling super lonely. I used to live in the area, but before actually being me. I tried going to pride today, but ended up rolling my ankle on my injured leg twice thanks to some uneven roads.
Roughly 6'0 280lbs.
I'm demi sexual lesbian, so if we hit it off as friends maybe we could do some more? I'm a Service top leaning switch.
Fun wise, I really like: playing games: Elden Ring and Souls titles, Spelunky 2, and coop games. Competitive multiplayer not so much, because I get really competitive šŸ˜…šŸ˜…
Reading manga and other graphic stories, mostly Yuri, but I enjoy a lot of fields from Isekai to fantasy and romance I'm a fan of cooking and food but I haven't been able to recently bc of everything 😭
I've been dying to go to the museums near me but between the injury and social anxiety I've been too torn to go
Looking for:
Some cool friends to adopt me and hang out and do low key fun stuff. I don't know how long it'll take before I can heal proper, so I won't be able to climb mountains or top cuties for days.
That said, I'm generally willing to experiment with both sexy and non sexy stuff. I'm pretty much brand new to this world and am a COVID baby gay.
Generally speaking, I'm only interested in people who'd consider themselves Lesbians, which could include butches, femmes, women and enbys.
Men I'm not really into unfortunately thanks to some not great experiences. That said, if you're chill about it maybe, though I would still have a long preference with lesbians, then bi folk, straight trans Men/masculine enbys, then cis men are a pretty close hard no unless you're really chill.

2023.06.05 04:39 lana_save_me im stuck in a toxic christian school and nobody around me is listening to me about how bad it is.

this is super long sry :> also, this is my first post on reddit bc i have noone else to tell this to. TW: SH
some backstory: im 13f, around a year ago i got sent to a few mental hospitals and one boarding school that was christian. a lot of bad stuff happened to me there like abuse and they tried to do an exorcism on me bc i am bisexual. i had to lie to the staff and pretend i was having homicidal thoughts (since they didnt listen to me when i expressed my suicidal thoughts) so they would send me back to a mental hospital.( a mental hospital was better than that place) my parents originally had planned for me to go to a long term but we didnt have enough money so i just came home instead. my parents thought that public school was what had caused all of my problems (which wasn't true) so they sent me and my 3 siblings to a private christian school.
I started this school around september 2022, and i originally didnt want to come to this school. even in the school handbook it says that if you aren't a christian you cant be enrolled, yet im still here. anyways, within a week of starting the school i was getting bullied for being "crazy". i got called slurs daily and had to deal with sh jokes bc scars were clearly visible on my arms and i cant wear longsleeves/ jackets because of the uniform the school has. I have gone to the pastor of the school multiple times and told him about these things but he doesn't care because he doesnt like me because im bisexual.
also i had to deal with constant sexualization from guys and even one of the teachers was super creepy towards me on multiple occasions. he would walk up behind me and touch my head/shoulders, randomly come up to me and start touching my arms, and would go out of his way to try and talk to me. when he talked to me he would usually try to relate to me in some way and sometimes when he saw me again on mondays after the weekend he would say "nice to see you again" or "i missed you". it really made me uncomfortable and i have told my parents and the pastor about this but nothing has been done.
some other things that really affect me is the isolation, loneliness, and depression. in public school i had many freinds, probably more than 20. and you might be thinking "just contact them on a phone" i dont have a phone, and im making this post on a computer. if my parents found out i was even on this computer to begin with, let alone posting on reddit i would be sent away again. i have tried to contact many of my freinds, but i found out alot of them were fake and didnt want to talk to me anymore. so i have nobody at this point. ive also tried making freinds at this school but nobody likes me. im a complete outcast and i usually just never speak at all during the school day.
At this point i just dont know what to do because ive pretty much tried everything, i tell my parents whenever bad things happen to me and they dont care. I just want to be treated like a human and not be bullied for one day, thats all i want. a few weeks ago i was thinking of suicide but i decided not too. i relapsed sh back in january and it was really bad and i have a doctor's appointment soon so im worried when they do an exam they find the scars and they'll send me away again. so im just counting down the days at this point on when 'ill be gone. i just want to get my feelings out before im gone again and maybe ask for some advice.

2023.06.05 04:37 AutoMonkey5 Do I really have higher Ne than I think?

EDIT: I MEANT TO SAY NI IN THE TITLE
I'm not good at Se or my Ni skills to be honest but I've taken the quiz multiple times and got turbulent ISTP and had 30% more Se than Ni. Keep in mind im always conflicted between whether I'm an ISTP or INTP. I know that Se is stereotypically associated with thrill and good @ sports, which tbh, as much as I like exploring new things with my own hands I'm not a "thrill" person and I'm not hella sporty either. I mean I am reckless when it comes to safety in the wild such as swimming with sharks but I would never willfully go on a tall rollercoaster based on my past experiences. I'm not a daydreamer either, I'm a "nightdreamer" meaning I imagine a lot at night at stay aware during the day. I do have an inner monologue also. My anger aligns with Se as I use violence when I get wayy to angry, but I also use a lot of Ni before resorting to violence and constantly argue. In a situation I use equal parts Ni/Se, fpr example: that thing is not moving, therefore it is not alive, but to validate it, I touch it to make sure it's not alive. IDK I feel like I'm more Se orientated because I get bored wayy to easily, prefer hands on activities as to logical fun. If a sensor was locked in a white room they'd go insane while an intuitive would just sleep or make up things in their head.

2023.06.05 04:28 figgimoe Happy Pride!

I posted this on my social media today and thought I would share it here as well. (I'm already openly queer, so this is not a coming out post.)
HAPPY PRIDE to the gays! And the semi-gays! the non-gays! and the maybe-gays?!
For a long time, I struggled to answer the question, "Am I gay or am I straight?" It was an impossible question. For me, love is not a binary. I am attracted to people for who they are, not what genitals they have. I am both gay and straight, I am neither.
It took me a very long time to accept myself. I felt a lot of fear and shame and overwhelming confusion. But in my 30s, I finally came to understand myself as ā€œpansexual.ā€ ā¤ļøšŸ’›šŸ’™ I’ll also use the word ā€œqueer.ā€ šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ
Just in case you’re wondering, what the heck is ā€œpansexual?ā€ And how is that different from ā€œbisexual?ā€ I'm not trying to impose my definition on anyone, but to me, bisexual people can be attracted to men and women. Pansexual people can be attracted to men, women, nonbinary, intersex, genderfluid, and those who are anywhere else on the gender continuum. (Pansexual people can also be attracted to transgender people, but I consider transmen to be men and transwomen to be women.)
ā€œQueerā€ is an umbrella term for all sexual minorities. Queer used to be a derogatory term, but now it’s ok to say.
Being pansexual doesn't mean that I find everyone attractive! Just that I can be attracted to anyone of any gender.
This does not mean that I am polyamorous (ex. want to be in relationships with multiple people at once). I want a monogamous relationship. (Just one person would be enough!) This also does not mean that I'm promiscuous (though I don't judge other people's sexual activities). Nor will I cheat on a partner just because I can find other genders attractive. My sexuality has nothing to do with my sense of morality. Cheating is always hurtful, no matter who you cheat with!
Today and every day, I support you if you’re out and proud, if you’re in and scared, if you’re unsure and confused. I understand the struggle! There is no right nor wrong sexuality. You don’t need to label yourself, unless you want to. There is nothing wrong with you. You are ok, you are enough, you are fabulous no matter who you are and who you love.
And if you’re wondering why I need to say this today, it’s because there are still hateful people out there who want to take away our rights, just because we’re a little different. Also, all these labels can be confusing, ha.

2023.06.05 04:17 List-Fickle Bruh, too many female characters coming out.

I was excited for Fontaine until I heard that 2 out of 10 new characters coming out are male. What ever happened to ratio. When genshin first released there was a decent ratio of female characters to male characters, and that's what made genshin so charming to most of us in the first place, because of the balance of femininity and masculinity. I honesty don't know what's going through their mind right now, because sounds to me they're coming down with horny syndrome, not enough tits and ass for you mihoyo? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to put down any female characters in Genshin, I like having a balanced team with both genders, and I aint gonna lie I would be doing the same if they were releasing too many male characters, but that's not the case here now is it? Sure they released 2 tall boy models, but im not seeing any teen boy models and it's triggering my OCD. plus they're also my favourite model. But seriously, only making 2 out of 10 Fontaine characters male makes Mihoyo look like they got some mommy issues to fix, and really that shouldn't be our problem. And it sucks because I was really looking forward to seeing more cool boy teen model designs... but now my day is ruined. Also there is an equal amount of females (there's actually more females) and males that play genshin on a daily, so don't come at me saying its for "fan service" when they know damn well that most woman, gay men, bisxeuals and believe it or not even lesbians would rather see more attractive males being released. Personally I like seeing both but this is too much and it's throwing off the Devine balance of the game. Even though it probably is for fan service they should really be more aware of their followers because that bank account gonna start looking dryyy if they don't start paying attention, they really would be making way more bank if Mihoyo actually started fixing their mommy issues and released more boy characters. One genre I strongly dislike is harems. Anyway, thanks for coming to my ted talk. Just needed to rant, no need to take anything personal.

2023.06.05 04:14 TheGeekyWriter Am I bi enough?

I’m in a straight-passing relationship that is also happy, but it does sometimes make me question if I’m ā€œbiā€ enough.
For reference: I realized I was bisexual last year while I studied abroad and caught feelings for one of my gal friends (this was after I went through rough patches with guys and her and I bonded over the same things and grew pretty close). As far as I’m aware, that friend is straight but her and I are still good friends, as well as our other gal friend (who is many years older than me, so I see her more as an older sister-like figure who just so happened to be born and live in another country). We were a trio, and still are, even if we’re further away from each other than we’d all like to be.
I feel like I’ve been forced into a ā€œstraightā€ role. Yes, I did recently come out publicly via my Instagram (and yes, I’m owning it because life is WAY too short and even though the world is scary rn, I’ve noticed I’ve got some strong-ass will to do so this year. In fact, it’s important now more so than EVER where I live), and I’m thankful that many people I surround myself with support me (especially my boyfriend, who MAY be bi-curious himself, but that’s neither here or there). But I’ve always felt confined to that role in a way. Maybe it’s interalized fear, since my family and friends are supportive so it can’t be them. Maybe I just get a tad intimidated by girls to even be friends with them sometimes (I’ve noticed I’m a tad more confident around guys, but I think that’s because I believed I was straight for so long that I learned how to cope; I didn’t get that way with girls I found super-attracted that I didn’t know. If I did know them and started liking them then, I usually just passed it off as me being excited to see them or just thinking we were best friends. Hell, when they’d have partners, I’d get jealous, but I thought it was because they had a partner and I didn’t. Yeah, I would realize that wasn’t necessarily the case. I have a best friend that I went to college with that I’m super close to, but for me: she is a SISTER, not someone I see as a romantic partner).
But all I’ve ever dated was guys: pan guys, omni guys, and guys who are questioning/sexually-ambiguous. Hell, I even crushed on someone who at one point identified as a trans man. But never have I dated a girl. Sure, I tried talking to them at one point, but then I met my current boyfriend whom I’m happy with and is happy with me. Hell, we even went to our first Pride not that long ago, and it was an exciting experience! But part of me feels like an imposter. I have clearly been attracted to girls, but I love my boyfriend and have only ever had dating experiences with guys.
I know I’m bisexual and perhaps it’s a stupid question, but am I ā€œbiā€ enough?

2023.06.05 03:47 AssociateDifferent58 Should I go to pride?

hey lesbians, this would kind of be my first time and I want to go to SF Pride (San Francisco) but I would have to do it alone. I recently lost contact with an old high school friend and broke things off with a friend/girlfriend (its complicated) so unfortunately I wont have anyone to go with. I don’t mind going out to the movies or dinner alone but this feels like a big step up from staying local. I would love to dress up and meet people but I cant get over this weird mental block, part of it might be because I know my ex and her gf are going but I know the chances of seeing them are slim due to the amount of people that go. I don’t have trouble making new friends but in a new environment I might get nervous and wouldn’t have as much fun as I normally would with others. Is anyone else attending SF Pride? Should I go anyway or wait until next year?

2023.06.05 03:47 the-radio_doll how the treats asexuality \ sex in general

(HI I DONT POST MUCH OR USE THIS SITE MUCH SO, SORRY IF THIS POST IS ALL OVER THE PLACE āš ļøALSO SPOILERSāš ļø) ok so I am a cis gender women asexual( sex repulsed ) lesbian virgin. I’m rewatching greys right now and I made it to the private practice pilot too parter type thing and this guy can’t have sex with his life to witch I was like ā€œoh maybe he’s ace or has traumaā€ no, he’s sick his wife is frustrated and she has every right to be she entered a marriage well sex was a given but and this is a problem in both greys and PP (idk about station) they talk about not having sex as this horrible unimaginable tragedy like how they act like someone can’t live without sex and it’s just SO gross to me.
Like when they found out April was a virgin (witch is fine people are virgins for MANY reasons religion anxiety trauma ) they were ALL such dicks about it making fun of her and when she had sex with Jackson (her first time) she FREAKED OUT and objectified Jackson
trust me I thought like they did to and extent before I knew being asexual was a thing but when I found out (thanks vivziepop) but this show was written by adults who are very inclusive to the LGBTQ+ community and that makes me very happy it helped me figure out who I am but sex IS NOT an end all be all for a relationship not to me at least sure I might try it once cause I’m curious but not anyone will may ace people are content being virgins their whole life and that’s fine.
another example the women with the orgys and they talked about how. Great (sounds like torture to me but arlos tell me how you feel)the speech she gave Izzy really resonated with me (random arousal is a thing with ace people) about how she wanted them when she WANTED them not all the time randomly at church driving.
Another example the openness about sex no, sex is not something to be ashamed of but they’re all oddly open about it maybe it the sex repulsed in me . and at the same time the shows are very negative about hyper sexuality ie cooper mark yes they sleep around a lot but I don’t thinks that very bad also long as there upfront about their intentions (witch mark is not but Cooper goes on sex sites with is pretty upfront to me )and safe
So to conclude some suggestions to introducing being asexual maybe have a patient come in for carina a pregnant cis women who is ace and when carina acts about her sexual history she’ll say she has none and was impregnated by IVF and she spends the episode explaining asexuality to carina and an intern (I don’t know how IVF works so this might not be accurate )
Please tell me your ideas and give me the Arlo perspective or any other perspectives

2023.06.05 03:40 BlackAvocado6969 Debunking LGBTQ+ Myths (with cited sources)

Debunking LGBTQ+ Myths (with cited sources)
šŸ“·Discussion
Since it is Pride Month and there has been a lot more controversy surrounding the topic this year, particularly in schools, I thought it was good to debunk some myths. If you have any specific questions about Pride and what happens in schools, I can also answer that as I am a teacher in Ontario. I feel there has been a wide spread hysteria/misunderstanding about what is going on and I am happy to clear it up for anyone.
Myth 1: Being LGBTQ+ is a choice.
Debunked: Sexual orientation and gender identity are not choices but deeply ingrained aspects of a person's identity. Numerous scientific studies support the understanding that being LGBTQ+ is not a voluntary decision, but rather a natural variation of human diversity. This understanding is supported by major medical and mental health organizations, including the American Psychological Association (APA) and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).
Reference: American Psychological Association: Sexual Orientation & Homosexuality: https://www.apa.org/topics/lgbtq/orientation
Myth 2: Being LGBTQ+ is a mental disorder.
Debunked: The American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed homosexuality from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) in 1973, affirming that it is not a mental disorder. The World Health Organization (WHO) removed it from the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) in 1990. However, LGBTQ+ individuals may experience mental health challenges due to societal stigma and discrimination they face.

Myth 3: LGBTQ+ individuals are more likely to be pedophiles.
Debunked: There is no scientific evidence to support a link between being LGBTQ+ and being a pedophile. Pedophilia is a distinct and universally condemned sexual attraction to minors. It is unrelated to sexual orientation, which involves consensual adult relationships. The American Psychological Association and various studies confirm that sexual orientation is unrelated to pedophilia.

Myth 4: All transgender people undergo surgery.
Debunked: Not all transgender individuals pursue medical interventions, such as hormone replacement therapy or gender-affirming surgeries. Transitioning is a personal journey, and different individuals have different needs and preferences. The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) emphasizes that not all transgender people desire or require surgical interventions. Gender identity is about how a person feels internally, rather than physical changes.

Myth 5: LGBTQ+ individuals are a threat to traditional marriages or families.
Debunked: Research consistently shows that same-sex marriage and LGBTQ+ parenting have no negative effects on traditional marriages or children's well-being. Love and commitment are universal values, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The American Psychological Association and various studies support the positive outcomes of LGBTQ+ families.

Myth 6: LGBTQ+ individuals can be "converted" or "cured."
Debunked: Conversion therapy, also known as reparative therapy, which aims to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity, has been widely discredited and denounced by professional medical and mental health organizations. These include the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, and American Psychological Association, which condemn these practices as ineffective and harmful.

Myth 7: LGBTQ+ rights are a threat to religious freedom.
LGBTQ+ rights and religious freedom are not mutually exclusive. Many religious denominations and faith communities fully accept and embrace LGBTQ+ individuals. Laws protecting LGBTQ+ rights seek to ensure equal treatment and prevent discrimination, without infringing on religious freedoms.

Remember that the field of LGBTQ+ studies is vast, and there are numerous studies, reports, and resources available for further exploration and learning.

2023.06.05 03:35 dutchesskitty How do I visit with my 6yr old son?

My parents are the Foxbrains and my son and I will be visiting for a week in about a month. We have not seen them for over a year when they briefly visited to attend his 5th birthday party. They can not have one conversation without it ending up revolving around politics. They watch 24/7 and listen to it in the car on satellite radio. A hotel is not an option and actually might make the situation worse as they would be highly offended if we didn’t stay with them.
I don’t want to make demands before I get there but I also have been having extreme anxiety thinking about this trip. I don’t want my son hearing all the terrible shit on Fox and I don’t know how to stay away from any topic that will trigger them because it seems like EVERYTHING is the left’s fault.
Any suggestions on navigating this situation with a small child would be appreciated. Even just words of encouragement.
For background: I am a bisexual cis woman but am closeted to them. We (my husband and I) are not religious. We teach our son that all people are to be treated with respect and deserve love no matter what they look like or believe.
If there’s any clarifying I can do please ask!
