In the late 19s and early 2000s there was a Store that sold urban clothing lines like Phat farm, Ecko, etc. The store was called Mr. Rags. It was my favorite store at the mall. They sold graffiti and breakdancing videos and other hip hop related items. Cool shit at the time before the internet was wild and rampant. One of my favorite items the was a graffiti shirt line called Urban Warfare. They had the dopest wild style designs with great characters and lettering. When Mr. Rags went bankrupt nationwide, I was never able to find them again. The only thing close to UW designs that I found were Wildstyle Technicians.

This is a copy pasta of a response I gave to u/LoveNo666 on his recent post, but I'm seeing a lot of ppl asking the same question; this sub has dedicated threads to all this stuff, but those might be overwhelming for you, so here are some pointers that might help:
The mistake basically everyone makes is, well, a few things- first, if your letters are all swishy and swooshy right out the gate, they probably look like shit. That kind of style takes years to develop, so jumping straight into some wildstyle ass tags is going to make you look toy af.
Second, GO SLOW. Like literally, w your hand. I've seen ppl on here be like "you gotta go fast to make it look good", but that's not exactly true. Curves might look better, especially if you're using a can w a stock cap, but you have to walk before you can run. If you watch pros working w pens and mops, or even cans w low flow caps, they often move surprisingly slow when doing complex tags. It's all about consistency- if you can't make it look consistent/good while going fast, then slow down.
Third, don't get too hung up on one name. Changing it up can help you evolve, and you never know what will work best for you. Go somewhere super hidden and just COVER the spot in tags, make em up as you go. You'll evolve quick doing that, but don't do it in a cool spot and trash it up w your practice. Go somewhere super lowkey so you can take your time.
Here's a few more pointers that might help: think about the frame of the tag, like if the first and last letter aren't strong enough then it'll look rough. The overall shape you are going for, like, is it sort of an oval, or a rectangle, or a banana?? Try to practice being consistent in your letter spacing, usually ppl overlap and crowd their letters too much. Keep it simple and consistent, can't say this enough.
And finally, have fun and keep it lowkey dude. It should be about adventure more than being the most "up". Who gives a shit about some kid spamming a lame ass tag?

I just want to see how others feel about this. I walk the TVP very regularly and have noticed city crews are out removing graffiti. While I understand removing anything racist, obscene or gang related the vast majority is just colourful letters. It’s being covered with that I would describe as prison grey paint.
So given the current economics of our day, with more people homeless than ever before, the LTC and city looking for ways to cut costs and increase revenue and a recession looming wouldn’t it make sense to cut costs like graffiti removal that really don’t benefit anyone and possibly do more harm than good?
Am I missing a point? Am I in the minority on this opinion?

Some Ukrainians believe that the Devil created these mountains by punching the crust of the earth after God trapped him in the underworld. Others are convinced that only on a wintry mountaintop lake in the Carpathians can destructive hail be created. While we may never get conclusive scientific evidence that hail is created there, we can see some other mystical but down to earth wonders, like Pysanyi Kamin in the Verkhovyna area of Ivano-Frankivsk' Oblast near the town of Bukovets. In English, Pysanyi Kamin means “Written Stone” - just like how Pysanka means "with writing". The side of the stones. Near the top on the path side. Pysanyi Kamin is a formation of huge stone blocks, most of which are spread out along a high ridge, one hundred meters long and ten meters high. While this is not exactly the most dramatic rock formation even nearby in the Ukrainian Carpathians (for instance, The Gorgany Range or Tustan Cliff Fortress) - let alone Europe - they really do create quite a mystical and monumental feeling when you visit. From a distance as you approach, it resembles something like a truncated pyramid. Someone with a more lyrical soul might observe an armored beast napping at the top of the mountain. This is a very famous place in Ukraine and is known for its wild beauty and almost magnetic ambiance. It is a very popular tourist destination, and the path is on the easier side as far as hiking goes. When you make it to the Pysanyi Kamin, an amazing view is laid out before you in emerald rolling hills. _______________________________ Letters from the PastTwo of the many petroglyphs; spider and spearman dated to the VIII century.Pysanyi Kamin holds another amazing secret - one of its sides has ancient drawings (petroglyphs), thanks to which the stone received the name of Pysanyi. Long before the modern “graffiti” (of the lowest possible effort and even lower artistic value that we hope will be addressed soon) appeared on the stones, mysterious signs were hewn into the rock: multi-armed crosses, circles, rhombuses, schematic figures of people. They are clearly visible in the oblique rays of the sun - at dawn or when it sets. At other times of the day, the signs are lost among the standard modern inscriptions. \"Bowls\" and writing, some of which is (regrettably... so regrettably) modern and some of which is ancient. I read that Bohdan Tomenchuk, archaeologist, associate professor of the Carpathian National University, says that the petroglyphs date back to different eras and may belong to pagan culture and the era of early Christianity. What the ancient inhabitants of the mountains tried to tell us is currently unknown. There is a well-founded theory that Pysanyi Kamin was a place of ancient pre-Christian sacred temples, with evidence of nine round “bowls” cut in stone, evoking other near-identical creations on other rocky peaks of the Carpathian mountains in Ukraine. The bottom of some of them has signs of long-extinguished fires. Between the "bowls" and around them are mysterious petroglyphs. Stone walls also bear clear signs of depressions and distinct traces of hollowing made with sharp objects. _______________________________ Close to the SkyReflection.Local folks will tell you many legends surrounding the Pysanyi Kamin. The most prevalent is that the stone structure is a resting place of an ancient mage who led the local people to become the nation that they are today. Once upon a time, when the primordial waters finally receded and the Carpathians were just starting to rise from the earth, people emerged from the water. They grew tall with the mountains, gaining strength - and soon their tribe was teeming and powerful. Their king was a mage who helped them to search for ore, forge weapons, and build ships; soon they had set out to conquer distant lands and countries. They roamed the seas and shores, founded states and wrote laws. There were no equals to them neither on the battlefield, nor in conversation, nor in love. And before his death, the mage urged them to continue collecting treasures and knowledge, and not to needlessly spill human blood. And the people, to honor the mage for everything he had done for them, built him a magnificent tomb close to the sky. _______________________________ The 462nd day of a nine year invasion that has been going on for centuries. Long Time Fan, Long Time Player of BT / MW. ever since I Played MW1 with the Gideon Braver Storyline, Then Crescent Hawks Revenge in BT. I've been hooked on the Innersphere and its warring ruling houses, even the Periphery interests me. especially the SLDF + The Clans. every Iteration of MW; from MW1 - MW5 (Current) gave some......pretty decent. good paint schemes / schematics camos. but that's the 1 thing that hits home. CAMO Paints & Decals in MW. would be Totally Awesome if we could have Decals placed on our Battle Mechs. from Letters-Numbers-different types of Alpha-Numeric Values, etc. this TO ME IMHO is what's Missing "in the details" about MW5 Mechs. I want TO PERSONALIZE Me & My Lancemates. the more personalization the MORE Immersive & Real-Feel towards our Mercenary Units & Lancemates, Battlemechs. To Be Clear; I'm NOT tyring to speak for other people in their behalf, but I feel most Fans, Players feel this way.
YES; I know there's like..3-5 different Mods of "Paints" dealing with this. however MODS can / will break [some ppl's games] while others will have NO Issues in fact MOST people dont' have issues with the MODS in MW5 but there's always a couple of people though who have issues. and to BE VERY Clear. 90% of the MODS for MW5 work in fashionable order as they should. "thank goodness" for that lol !!
However; I know I'm NOT alone on this....when I say paint Schemes / Themes I'm not just referring to SLDF camo's , 6 Houses, the Periphery. Independent Nations, etc. Merc Outfits. Independent Logos. Mega Corps that reside within the Innersphere realm. and of course the myriad of the vast Military Units that exist within ALL of the Great Houses, The Clans (even Clans that do not exist anymore).
I'm basically, hopefully this brings attention to PGI Developers ASAP. directly. because this is how I SEE IT. again THANK YOU. PGI. for allowing us to live, breathe, play as a Pseudo Merc Co. in MW5, living the "Dream" sorta speak. We all know MW6 is somewhat on the horizon for us. and this possibly the Next Iteration of MW Storylines. but before you Guys run off to Create MW6 can you perhaps give us a DLC of Camo Specs Pack. can't speak for everyone . but a Lotta of people would like to be creative as much as possible. I say this because they're soo many types of Color Schemes, Paints, Themes that do not exists in MW5's Paint Labs. I'll list what I "PERSONALLY" like to be Added either now in MW5 or in the up-coming MW6.

- The Ability to ADD: GRAPHICS like Shapes. Triangles, Squares, Trapezoid, Stars, Star Trails, Stripes, Racing Stripes, Oblongs, etc adding shapes means I can add different features to the Mech Scheme.
- The Ability to ADD: ICONS like [soo no one has a Lawsuit, Lol] not the actual Logos' but Iconographs, Icons. this may be a bit of problem. if its DONE WRONG. lol
- The Ability to ADD: Classic MW Paints, Paints from MW4, MW3, MW2 but UP Graded with todays Visual FX.
- The Ability to ADD: Military CAMO's of Nations / Countries that kinda represent themselves within the Innersphere's Ruling Houses: soo for ex: Lyran Commonwealth: Add the German Camo Mil/Spc. House Kurita: Japanese Mil/Spc. & PRC [Chinese Mil/Spc.] . Davion: Add the Dutch,Swede's,etc soo on and so forth.
- This might interest some players: the Ability to ADD: the Players residing Nation / Country's Flag on their Mechs + Lances whatever. and decorate them how they see fit. nothing Over Board. just simple-simplistic.

First Look: Fucking Awesome x adidas Samba
Jason Dill’s Fucking Awesome will be linking up with adidas once more for yet another sneaker collaboration. Releasing soon, here is a first look at the Fucking Awesome x adidas Samba.
The Fucking Awesome x adidas Samba is a follow up to the Fucking Awesome x adidas Experiment 1 and 2. This will also be the first time Dill will be working on the classic Samba silhouette. Opting for a clean and simple look, details include a Black leather base with White Three Stripes branding on the sides and heel tabs. Elsewhere you will find Fucking Awesome’s graffiti-style lettering stamped onto the tongues, while co-branding appears on the insoles. Black laces and a matching tonal rubber sole completes the look.
The Fucking Awesome x adidas Samba has no official release info yet, but current reports have them releasing very soon exclusively at faworldentertainment.com. Stay tuned for further updates.

2023.05.24 21:05 Ok-Kick832 I decided to look out what it would be like if FNAF was the only game and it had the same sized lore and stuff.
Lore (play random quick music): The game would be filled with mysteries and secrets press a poster you unlock a mysterious mini game notice the weird words on your screen? Well if you use an anagram and Morse code you can decode one letter! The puppet would be introduced and Afton family would be introduced as well in the weird words it would have a secret ending which would end with Mike or phone guy or something saying a Henry speech (with Phone Guy it would be pre recorded with it being fore shadowed in his Night 4 lines) and everything burning.
Design Changes: Well supposedly the building is abandoned? (I never realized it I though someone was there day) So the animatronics would be a bit dirty they would also have fur (did they have that already?) There would be graffiti on the wall and dried blood on the floor. The posters of the animatronics would make them cartoonish and friendly and the VHS tapes (did I mention that?) would show the contrast of then and now. I frown at my phone. “Seriously?”
What number did you try? asks Volt.
“Nine-one-one.”
That’s not good. Oh hey, we got a pop-up ad.
- NEED EMERGENCY SERVICES? CALL 9-1-2!
“Unbelievable.” I dial nine-one-two. Look over the dark city while it rings. “How long was I asleep?”
I think it’s been a minute.
A robotic voice crackles to life over the phone. “This is Emergency Services. What is your location?”
I peer around in the dark. “Uh, 689 Avenue Broadway Nord.”
“What is your citizen ID?”
“Uh, I don’t know. Someone is trying to kill me.”
“It is an offense to withhold your citizen ID from Emergency Services.”
“Cool, I still don’t know. Also, there’s a murderer after me?”
“There is a criminal detainment center 4 blocks from you.” A map pops up on my phone. “Please proceed there for processing.”
“Are you helping me or arresting me?”
“You are surrendering for arrest.”
“What about the murderer?”
“You’ll be safe from him in prison.”
“Yeah, that’s not gonna work for me.”
“Acknowledged. Please stay where you are. A resisting arrest response drone has dispatched to your location.”
I hang up the phone. Look at the multitudes of drones flying overhead. At the graffiti on the walls. They did warn me. “Shall we mosey on?”
Probably a good idea. Oh hey, we got another ad pop up.
- TROUBLE WITH EMERGENCY SERVICES? TRY 9-1-3!
Hmm… Is this phone listening to us? Should I turn off the personalized ad service?
“Yes, do that. And the location service. They must be tracking us.”
Yeah, they must be. Also, you told them where we are.
“Did I? Fuck. I forgot about that. The map pop-up threw me off.”
I’m just gonna delete the entire map application.
“Cool. Is there any other way for them to track us?”
Like a virus? Probably? I have no idea.
Me neither. “Should I smash the phone?”
Seems extreme. You could just set me down.
That’s fair. I pause in thought. Man, I’m exhausted. The cops are gonna be here any minute. And so will I, because I’m barely moving. Hell, I can still hear the psycho freaking out in my old apartment. My top speed is not good.
A small saucer drone descends to intercept me. Fuck.
So what’s up? Are you gonna smash me?
“Nope. I’m kinda freaking out, and don’t wanna be alone. What’s this drone up to?”
What drone? Is there a drone around?
“The drone in front of me. Also, there’s drones flying everywhere.”
Really? I thought those were birds. Maybe you should smash me…
The saucer drone hovers before me. I brace for a tasering, but a cloud of flying ants pour out instead. They swarm around me for a few seconds, then buzz back into their flying saucer.
The saucer emits a bing, then fires a business card at me. I snag it. In bold letters it proclaims:
- YOUR DEATH IS IMMINENT.
“That’s some tough talk, ants. Not sure you can back that up.”
There’s a QR code on the back of the card.
“Really?”
Yeah, hold me up.
I help Volt scan the code.
Oh shit. You’re having multiple medical emergencies. Heart, liver, kidneys - all shot. Arteries leaking. Rotten with cancer. How are you even standing?
“I dunno. I’d love to lie down.”
Xan, we gotta deal with this. Get you to a doctor.
“Cool, I’ll put it on the list.” A man-like figure is approaching from the darkness. Man-like, except for dozens of whip thin tentacles writhing from all parts of his body. He crosses the street to pass us by.
The psycho is getting louder. Is he on the move? The alien ant farm bobs around me. Cops have gotta be here soon. My knees hurt.
“Okay. Operation Run Away has failed. Let’s find somewhere to hide.”
We slip into the next apartment building. Lock the ants outside. Wander the halls, trying doorknobs, peaking in open rooms. See a lot of old, sweaty, sleeping people. Finally find an empty apartment. Collapse on the bed.
“I feel awful.”
Well, you are dying.
“Maybe I’m hungry.”
We ransack the apartment for food. Nothing but bowls and a single spoon. Eventually, we find a chunky, third tap in the kitchen sink. A thick gray goo oozes out of it. Smells salty. I pour a bowl. It’s not bad. Slimy texture, but salty and filling. I have another helping.
I feel better after eating, but also very tired. “What now?”
We have to get you to a doctor.
“And get a gun.”
Sure. But this is the longest you’ve been awake in decades. You probably need some rest.
“Oh thank goodness. Wait - if I sleep, will I go back to the dream game?”
You can. Do you want to?
“May as well. I have to sleep anyway, and I’d like some pizza. And to have a wet dream while strangers listen. Wait! Is Harkon still trying to kill me?”
I dunno. Who cares? It’s just a dream game. It doesn’t matter if you die.
“Right. That makes sense.” I shrug. “Fuck it, let’s play.”

Roll up security cages that shops lock up at night, are ugly. They look better bombed in colorful graffiti with creative lettering. As do many uninspired cinder block walls and backs of billboards.

2023.05.19 07:02 OceansCarraway Spilled Tea: Liquifying Space Air
Last time we did some technology, the clones had managed to combust space air at the cost of their lives and limbs. They had been left with a very distinct--and entirely correct--sense that they were meddling with forces beyond their ken. There was significant demoralization, and it showed in their science fiction. However, their majesties still desired progress, and they tried to encourage clone innovation and cleverness.
As the G.U.S.S expanded across the Ria system, there were more and more clones in space proper. This meant that there was more and more exposure to space air, and some interest in it; this meant making art with it. The idea of the snowglobe has often re-occurred in many different cultures, and it was time for it to pop up again in clone society. This time, it took on the form of globes of space air filled with sparkling metal shavings, made during spare runs of glass 3D printers and loaded with literal trash. While the clones didn’t make much art yet, the truly barren stations in space needed something to make them more livable, and graffiti was limited. These ‘snow globes’ proliferated, and after observing an ice storm in the gas giant, the artists making them were inspired. Like the technicians who had lit their torches before, they had nothing but surface-level training–and they were amateurs. Clones didn’t normally make art. It was underground, and went against their natures, a conscious effort to defy their creators.
Most compounds change their state based on temperature and pressure. Because they act the way they do by how much they vibrate, physicists usually can tell if something is going to be the state that it is based on how the atoms are gonna behave. As most physics can make someone’s head stop working, it’s harder to get into it. The artist group didn’t know much physics, so they just tried to do a number of basic things, like freezing it and squeezing it. This didn’t work, and made their stationmasters annoyed. Then someone suggested that they just use magic. It’d be so easy, guys!
It was easy. Too easy. That was what made it hard. All of the artists–a trio of Happies, with one Biggy to help bend the metal and keep machines running–could do magic in some way. They came up with a simple idea–brute forcing the phase change through a set of ‘step-down’ runes, and set to work. Necessity was the mother of invention; since they didn’t have access to Downspells or artificial gravity, they couldn’t get access to easy casts, so they had to form the runes from platinum wire. Bringing the runes into existence required multiple attempts to wrap the wire and establish the rune; their utterly basic constructs did not make a circuit-board system, nor did they have any idea of multi-stranded supplies. Months of tweaking were ruined to get the runes into working order, and another month to actually quantify what they had made. After heating some distilled water, the three produced the most labor intensive cup of tea that had ever been made for the hardworking Biggy to drink.
Shortly afterwards, he became very sick and almost died. Then they realized that the magically-affected material was genotoxic and could make someone’s body parts fall off. Luckily, they could ensure that people didn’t need to touch it. Much of the magic could be done inside of glass structures derived from vacuum tubes; and working with the same techniques that were used to make those tubes helped them to make a successful setup in very quick fashion. In another four months, the group had a continuous-operation ‘flow tube’ that could bring simple materials through solid, liquid, and gas. Then it was time to try out working with space air.
The group procrastinated a bit. The Biggie was undergoing chemotherapy, a grueling process made worse by the nastier drugs that most clones could stomach; more importantly, they were nervous. While the rune sequence could be cast planetside with no issue, the magic of the clones was not up to the task. Subsequent explosions turned hundreds of hours of work into hundreds of thousands of pieces of shrapnel, or sent overheated letters melting through gasifying concrete. An alternate approach with weaving wire into letters was more successful, but fabricated rune-pieces only had a lifespan of months before needing to be replaced. Barely-understood effects of rune interaction become completely opaque when the runes were rendered in wire, and the iterations on these devices were simply described as ‘it works’.
Quietly, the artists took their plaudits and got away from the scrum. Even a meeting with the Kweens did not seem to lift their spirits. Shortly beforehand, the Biggie who made their equipment had died, opting for a merciful end with a captive bolt pistol rather than the pain of a fast-moving metastatic cancer that was entirely immune to radiation. The crestfallen discoverers only returned to space long enough to help open a dedicated artist habitat, cooled by a prototype machine that liquified space air. A memorial in the center, of their fallen companion shown as larger than life and carrying the world on their shoulders, didn’t seem to excite them much. When they left for Kabria, and planetside, all they contributed was an astral snowglobe with a figure of a Biggy in a teacup. Shake it, and you’d see the grimace on its face as the liquid spilled from the cup…

As the G.U.S.S expanded across the Ria system, there were more and more clones in space proper. This meant that there was more and more exposure to space air, and some interest in it; this meant making art with it. The idea of the snowglobe has often re-occurred in many different cultures, and it was time for it to pop up again in clone society. This time, it took on the form of globes of space air filled with sparkling metal shavings, made during spare runs of glass 3D printers and loaded with literal trash. While the clones didn’t make much art yet, the truly barren stations in space needed something to make them more livable, and graffiti was limited. These ‘snow globes’ proliferated, and after observing an ice storm in the gas giant, the artists making them were inspired. Like the technicians who had lit their torches before, they had nothing but surface-level training–and they were amateurs. Clones didn’t normally make art. It was underground, and went against their natures, a conscious effort to defy their creators.
Most compounds change their state based on temperature and pressure. Because they act the way they do by how much they vibrate, physicists usually can tell if something is going to be the state that it is based on how the atoms are gonna behave. As most physics can make someone’s head stop working, it’s harder to get into it. The artist group didn’t know much physics, so they just tried to do a number of basic things, like freezing it and squeezing it. This didn’t work, and made their stationmasters annoyed. Then someone suggested that they just use magic. It’d be so easy, guys!
It was easy. Too easy. That was what made it hard. All of the artists–a trio of Happies, with one Biggy to help bend the metal and keep machines running–could do magic in some way. They came up with a simple idea–brute forcing the phase change through a set of ‘step-down’ runes, and set to work. Necessity was the mother of invention; since they didn’t have access to Downspells or artificial gravity, they couldn’t get access to easy casts, so they had to form the runes from platinum wire. Bringing the runes into existence required multiple attempts to wrap the wire and establish the rune; their utterly basic constructs did not make a circuit-board system, nor did they have any idea of multi-stranded supplies. Months of tweaking were ruined to get the runes into working order, and another month to actually quantify what they had made. After heating some distilled water, the three produced the most labor intensive cup of tea that had ever been made for the hardworking Biggy to drink.
Shortly afterwards, he became very sick and almost died. Then they realized that the magically-affected material was genotoxic and could make someone’s body parts fall off. Luckily, they could ensure that people didn’t need to touch it. Much of the magic could be done inside of glass structures derived from vacuum tubes; and working with the same techniques that were used to make those tubes helped them to make a successful setup in very quick fashion. In another four months, the group had a continuous-operation ‘flow tube’ that could bring simple materials through solid, liquid, and gas. Then it was time to try out working with space air.

2023.05.18 18:11 HelloDesdemona What are some of the more unusual historical sources found that reveal the less "dignified" part of our ancestors' lives? (that is, weird fetishy journals, funny graffiti, ranty letters etc.)?
Historical figures sometimes come off as these myths that feel sometimes above human, especially since we almost always hear about their grandness.
But, I feel like I never hear about the time their dog pooped on their cape and they didn't notice until after their meeting with their council. Or when they drank themselves into a stupor and got into a slap fight with the court jester. Or when they upchucked on their wedding day.
Surely, famous historical figures of the past had had some embarrassment moments -- right?
Do you know any fun, embarrassing stories of past monarchs, inventors, artists, and other notable people? And if there is, how was this information was found out (like, maybe their closest friend ratted them out in their own personal journal)?
