Review of "Queen II" by Queen -----------------------------------------------
After opening a rift to another world with the debut, one of whimsical adventures awaiting to be explored, spells waiting to be uncovered, and ogres in the fantastical lands of Rhye, her highness invites her followers into two sides. A good side and a much darker side with the creative concept of having a Side White and Side Black rather than your typical Side 1 and 2.
"Queen II" is not a concept album but it does have a loose theme running throughout at least some of the songs that are mostly on Side Black which is penned entirely by frontman Freddie Mercury. This album is the first to have elements of their style with multi-layered guitar overdubs, vocal harmonies, and the vast exploration of many musical styles, and though it had mixed-to-negative ratings from contemporary critics, its now hailed as a staple of the bands output and held in HIGH regard by retrospective critics, other musicians, and even the band, becoming a fan-favorite too.
Side White is penned mainly by Brian May and begins with the intro of "Procession/Father To Son" which is a hard rocker that starts off slow and functions as an intro to the album, an opening track introducing and building up excitement. The lyricism is quite good on this song and is about a father talking to his son about the country he will acquire as he grows into royalty. "White Queen (As It Began)" follows with an intro functioning as a tail to the previous track since it leads directly into this song via a fade-in and the chord progression is the same with that of the chorus with a change in harmonic rhythms. Starting on the fourth beat where the static multi-tracked guitars start to play. Acoustic guitar joins making the key G Major which is inherited from the outro of the previous song, as Freddie sings emotionally with pain and grief.
The verses are about the speakers' lost love who he waits for nightly with sadness and feature Brian May playing four measures long with a folk-influenced fingerpicked figure. The riff plays in A minor to give the feeling of melancholy as the bass descends with each measure and the measure is subverted in a clever intriguing way for the third measure. The song also features a heavier rock section and after the second chorus a guitar solo featuring May playing his acoustic guitar in a creative unique way of making it sound like a sitar.
"Some Day One Day" features Brian May on vocals for the first time and is a softer song with rather poetic lyrics and all guitars play different parts, while Roger Taylor gets a chance to shine with "The Loser in the End" which is the only track where the drums actually sound decently recorded; however this song is much heavier and sticks out of place like a sore thumb blister with some of the worst lyrics to ever disgrace a song from this band, and a pretentious, boring composition.
Side Black is when her highness steps down and lets all her pain out, opening to a darker world; "Ogre Battle" is quite the impressive number, opening with the outro playing in reverse and smoothly sliding into the main guitar riff completely naturally that it's hard to tell it was even reversed upon first listen. The song is a fun Hard Rock number with the lyrics describing fighting of the fantastical Ogre creatures and Freddie lets out one of the highest notes he's hit with the instrumental break featuring an ogre-like scream which leads into verse 3 detailing the end of the battle.
"The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke" features an opening sound segueing from the previous track and playing in E minor as harmonized vocals enter. Two ostinato patterns carry by the piano, clavichord to give the song a medieval feel and a bassline, The tonality is weak with a D chord which functioning as the tonal center of the current subsection, sounds like the VII chord of the preceding E minor tonic. The C and B bass lines make it flexible while the music remains “harmonious”. But in the end it does not resolve to E minor but to A minor, as a simple chord on the piano is played, the lyrics in a genius way describe the story and the narrator's take on the painting as the song ends leading into "Nevermore", a beautiful well composed piano ballad detailing the distress of a breakup with beautiful heartfelt lyrics and falsetto vocals.
"The March of the Black Queen" is perhaps the bands first magnum opus, stomping out of Side Black with a great variety of music during its seven minute length. Starting out with a slow, dramatic piano intro from Freddie as he plays appoggiatura figurations on the B chord with a pitch of E harmonic minor, the next section starts with an E minor as two dramatic guitars explode into the first line, entering on the even tempo while the backing vocals create a harmonic carpet. The song goes through multiple harmonies accompanying the pentatonic lead vocals with a short instrumental break with amazing vocal harmonies.
This song also features references to the 1863 book "The Water Babies" in verse 1, as Mercury was a big fan of Victorian era culture which inspired the feel of this album overall. This song just has a boldness striking the ear with its studio-mastery and having angelic interludes. It leads to "Funny How Love Is" which is a good song influenced by The Beach Boys which Mercury was a huge fan of, with harmonies similar to theirs and trying to emulate the Wall of Sound production style. Unfortunately, this song sounds like utter garbage and sounds so different from the rest of the albums' production style and sound that it sticks out in a weird way; quite literally as if it was recorded with a toaster, making it a weak point of the album. The album ends with "Seven Seas of Rhye" which became the bands' first entry in the UK singles charts and lead to their first Top of The Pops appearance helping them break into the mainstream. It's a catchy yet impressive song.
Overall while a tad faulty, this album is one of Queen's very best and it makes sense why many see it as one of the best of all time even if I don't. They pushed their roots in rock and metal as far as they could which resulted in what showed their studio mastery, weaknesses and caused it to lack the bite of "Queen" and the super brilliance of following "Sheer Heart Attack"

Grimm returned with an armful of items and got to work. He poured black powder on the ground, forming a large circle, then made an outer ring around the black circle with white powder. He set a handful of items into the inner circle: an hourglass, a ceramic jar filled with rice wine, and a scrap of parchment. He gestured to Benvolio and Walter, having them each stand, positioned like the points of a triangle outside of the outer circle.
“Whatever you do, do not cross into or damage the circle, it can release her spirit.” Grimm spoke solemnly.
Grimm untied the small skull from his belt. He began to recite words which initially sounded like gibberish to Walter. However, after a few seconds of lag, the enchantment on Walter interpreted the words.
“Spirit of the great mage Andromeda Chronos, we request your counsel. Come to us in the light of the stars and the light of the moonlight. We have prepared a drink for you and parchment for your thoughts. We request your presence to venture from the underworld and let your spirit visit us in the land of the living. We seek thy wisdom, oh great and powerful mage.” As Grimm spoke the timber of his voice changed and his voice lowered from its natural baritone to an otherworldly bass.
The cool spring air plummeted in temperature, to the chill of winter. Walter could see his breath. Steam rose off Benvolio’s’ scales. The ground shook, and the campfire they lit began to dim. In fact, the interior of the summoning circle seemed to darken, devoid of the light cast by the fire, the stars, or other sources. The hourglass levitated into the air, turned so the sand was on top, and then landed back on the ground. The ceramic jar lifted into the air, was emptied into the void of darkness, then fell with a light thud. Then, what could only be described as an energy in the air, made its presence known.
Walter’s stomach tensed with anxiety. After Grimm’s warnings he could only imagine what terrible entity might appear. From the darkness appeared a silvery specter. She was small in stature, somewhere between three and four feet tall. Her body was thin, bony. Her spectral clothes appeared to be a comfortable frock and sensible shoes. There was a cane at her side. Her mouth opened in a wide grin, revealing rows of sharp teeth. Her face was flat, and her ears were pointy. A small pair of spectacles sat perched at the edge of her nose. Her hair was hastily gathered up in a messy tangle on the top of her head.
“Well, hello there.” Her voice was gravelly, but her tone musical. She smiled. Despite her vicious-looking teeth, her expression was surprisingly matronly. Oddly enough, she vaguely reminded Walter of his mother.
“Greetings, oh great mage. I am Benvolio, son of Bellissima of the Ashen Mountains. I am honored to make your acquaintance.” Benvolio lowered his snout and curled his tail in front of his body, as though moving an arm in front of oneself when bowing.
“Ah, one of Bellissima’s hatchlings, how delightful.” Andromeda clapped her spectral hands together. “Your mother was a very good friend of mine. Oh, we used to plot such shenanigans. I remember one time a group of ogres tried to intimidate some of the folks in my village. They assumed that because we goblins are small that we are defenseless creatures. You should have seen their expressions when I struck one of them dead with a lightning bolt.” She paused, breaking out into a gleeful cackle. After a minute of laughing to herself, she slapped her knee and wiped away a tear of laughter. “They were most startled indeed, frozen in fear. Then I summoned Bellissima, climbed upon her back and the two of us chased them for a good five or so leagues.”
“Andromeda, if I may be so bold, we require information from you.” Benvolio spoke, hoping to direct the conversation to the matter at hand.
“Ah yes, everyone always wants to learn how to cast my spells or know my fig nut bread recipe. Normally I do not divulge such precious secrets, but as your mother was a dear friend, I suppose I shall oblige your request.” Andromeda smiled.
“Thank you, great mage.” Benvolio replied.
“Well then, grab some parchment and a quill, it starts off with about a handful of chopped nuts, and three handfuls of dried figs.” Andromeda proceeded to rattle off her fig nut bread recipe. Benvolio and the others tried to stop her from speaking but every time they tried to stop her, she would continue as though she didn’t hear them. Walter’s eyes drifted to the hourglass, watching the sands slide down to the bottom. There was still time, but it was limited “And that, dearies, is how you bring warmth and flavor to your home with the alchemy of the humble fig.”
“Excuse me.” Walter spoke up. Andromeda’s eyes darted to him, she raised an eyebrow and tilted her head, the mop of hair on her head shifting as she did so. “My name is Walter. Thank you for the recipe. I would very much like to make it for my daughter and grandson back home. For you see, I seem to have stumbled into a strange land far from my own world, and I would very much like to return to my family. Do you have children or grandchildren, Andromeda?”
“Alas, no, I was always too preoccupied with my work to fuss with things like marriage or children. However, I have a godson, Sirris. The poor lad grew up with nothing really, but he had the talent. I enjoyed mentoring him in my twilight years, before I passed. He and Bellissima were my two best students. I recall the heartache I felt when my dear Bellissima was slain by some arrogant humans with enchanted weapons—curse the artificer who armed them. It is unbearable to be parted from your dear ones. I will help you get home to see your family, but first, speaking of my godson, has anyone here heard of my dear young Sirris?”
“He is the Dark Lord of Bythica, he has conquered all seven kingdoms of the northern continent. He is feared and reviled amongst men, one of the greatest evils our world has ever known.” Grimm responded.
“Good for him!” Andromeda smiled. “Such an ambitious boy, I am overjoyed to hear of his triumphs since my passing.” Andromeda clapped her hands together. Grimm’s face showed visible displeasure at the reaction. “Now, back to business, how can I assist with Walter’s return?”
“Great mage, your spell, Locus Cordis. My mother cast it on me the day she was slain. I was whisked away to another land. I was there for a time before the magic brought me back home. I believe the world I was sent to is the same as Walter’s world, it seems no coincidence, then, that a gateway opened, and Walter stumbled into our world.”
“That is certainly no coincidence,” Andromeda confirmed. “Of the portal spells, only Sirris showed a talent for the more difficult spells to create portals to precise gateways. There is Tempus et spatium, but that is not a targeted spell. It sends an individual through time and space for a few months, but it is rather random. I suspect past lives, or some manner of the like, may have something to do with it, but I never did get conclusive results when testing said spell. But Locus Cordis, the words of which are from the language of another world, translates roughly to ‘the place of the heart’. The spell searches across worlds and galaxies until it finds deep emotional connection between the being it is cast on and another entity.”
“Ah yes,” The corners of Benvolio’s mouth turned up in a sad smile. “That is why I was taken to where I was. Loss of a parent. My path crossed with a girl in Illinois who had lost her mother.” Upon these words Walter looked up. Walter reached for his backpack and began to rummage through it. His grandson, Sam, had a habit of stuffing things into his bag. Walter reached into his bag and pulled out a musty, dilapidated old stuffed animal, the shape no longer recognizable. Walter remembered playing with it himself when he was little. However, he could never figure out what sort of animal it was supposed to have been, as it had been in the family for decades. It had been his mother’s prized possession long ago. She had named it Benny after some cherished pet she had. It. Couldn’t. Be.
“Benvolio, does the name Samantha mean anything to you?” Walter asked. Benvolio straightened, his wings extending.
“How do you know that name?” Benvolio asked, intrigued and hopeful. A sad smile washed over Walter’s face.
“It’s my mother’s name,” Walter explained. “My daughter Beth named her son Sam in honor of her.” Walter held up the dilapidated stuffed animal his grandson left in his bag. The red color had faded over the decades, the stuffing falling out of one side. “And I think, just maybe, this thing used to look like a dragon, and she named it Benny after you.”

Hi there! Name’s Auri and I’m a 28F. I’ve been rping for roughly 10+ years now and am searching around for another partner for a thread or two. I'm not replacing anyone!
General overview:

• All characters are 18+
  
• I’m not into doing smut or adult content. If we ever do get to that point in a thread, I would like for us to fade to black if at all possible. It's just a personal preference of mine.
  
• I would like for my partner to be at least 23+ or close to my age. No minors please
  
• I don't mind doubling!
  
• I can forward over whatever character info necessary on my OC(s)
  
• As far as posting frequency goes, I'm pretty okay with it being every other day, every few days or, if necessary, once or twice a week. Just let me know! I do have a full time weekday job so replies during the week may be a bit slow!
  
• I do write at least two or three paragraphs minimum and write third person past tense and at least 2k words plus. I'm more of a novella writer! Not all of my responses will be novella length, however

My initial idea would be to have my OC run into the Tenakth Sky Clan after disturbing a group of nearby machines with her sudden appearance.
Obviously the Sky Clan don't know what to make of this new arrival. Thinking she may be a Zenith, Kotallo would contact Aloy who would definitely like to speak with this humanoid creature before the Sky Clan tear into her.

House of Lords and Where to Take It
Following consultation in the thread and private consultations in my messages, I have identified a few issues with the House of Lords, and want to begin the process of coming up with ways on how to fix it.
Issue Number One: A Lack of Engagement Opportunities
The House of Lords has a lack of opportunities for people to uniquely engage. Part of this is a lack of incentive to debate, and a lack of things to debate on. The very basis of MHoC is to engage with user created content, and currently there’s a lack of drive to provide that for the House of Lords. There have been some suggestions as to how to address this, the main one being to stop Lords being able to comment and debate in the House of Commons - this is something I’m willing to pursue should the community believe it is the best course of action, however I am unsure if it would provide a long term boost.
Another possible solution is strengthening the Committees system and making it much clearer. Frankly in order to do this it will need to be rebuilt from the ground up to make it actually fun and rewarding. I’m open to suggestions for this, and will be seeking advice from people who have interacted with the Committees system in the past.
The final proposal I would like to bring up myself under this point is the introduction of topic debates to the House of Lords. This more open ended debate would, hopefully, promote discussion about things people are particularly interested in. The previous system used in the Commons were slightly too narrow, so I would personally prefer these to be vague such as “Debate on Space”, which can be used as a platform to discuss space exploration, colonisation, advances and discoveries in the sciences, etc,.
Issue Number Two: The Position of the Lord Speaker
The Lord Speaker has, for a long time, been seen as a deadweight amongst the Quadrumvirate. Whilst I am trying my hardest to change this, and others in the past have absolutely shown that the position can be used for something great, it still remains that the position is nebulous and doesn’t actually do much even in the House of Lords itself. Therefore I would like to begin discussion on the position of Lord Speaker itself. I have a few proposals myself:
1) Status quo - fairly standard, keep things as they are with the Lord Speaker being a member of the Quadrumvirate.
2) Demote the Lord Speaker as a member of Quad - this would involve moving the Lords Speakership team under the Commons, being ran by the Chair of Committees which would be renamed to Lord Speaker and act as an autonomous leader within the Commons Speakership responsible for hiring and managing Deputy Lord Speakers and keeping things running.
Obviously this entire concept would require far more work and consultation, my aim proposing these is to get the ball rolling.
Issue Number Three: The Existence of the House of Lords
This is not an issue, and the House of Lords will not be abolished under my watch.

I may be an amateur musician, but I am a professional nerd.* As such, I was inspired by u/OctavianMacLean's post to finally write up my music theory questions from Rhythm of War. If only Navani's chapters had gone on longer about musicology! Alas, this is essentially all we know about the pitches used in music on Roshar, from chapter 69:

Anciently, people had used a three-note scale,** and a few of the compositions remained. The tone that drew Stormlight was the first of the three notes from this ancient scale. With some effort—it had required sending Fused to Kholinar through the Oathgate to raid the royal music conservatory—she’d obtained tuning forks for the other two notes in this scale. To her delight, Voidlight responded to the third of the three notes.

Based on this description, I have some questions, a couple of suggestions...starting with, does Navani use quintave to mean:
a) an interval with frequency ratio 3:2, at which the scale repeats;
b) a 5-note [i.e. pentatonic] scale; or
c) something else?
As the reader may know, 'quintave' isn't really a normal English word, even in the world of music theory. It's presumably intended to be analogous to the English word 'octave'. In English, 'octave' refers to a 2:1 interval (i.e. the frequency of one tone is exactly twice the frequency of the other), regardless of how many notes a given scale divides that interval into. The interval is called an octave\*** because the higher pitch is the 8th note of most scales used in so-called western music. If we want to interpret quintave as the strictest possible parallel to the word octave, then we can guess that definition A is correct--i.e. that quintave means the interval (possibly but not necessarily spanning 5 notes) at which scales repeat, rather than an interval within a scale.
However, not a lot of music traditions have scales that repeat at the 3:2 interval. In fact, the only real-world music tradition which I've seen described with the word 'quintave' is some traditions within Georgian folk music. A lot of Georgian folk music is characterized by a narrow melodic range and three-part polyphony. As best I understand it, the basic 'scale' has 5 notes evenly divided within 3:2 interval and repeating on the top note (the fifth). Instead of being organized around the octave, the interval between the tonic (the 1st note of the scale) and the 8th note is a little bit bigger than a 2:1 ratio (musicologists call this a 'wide octave'). It sounds super cool and I love Georgian folk music, so I want this to be what Brandon intends for Alethi music to sound like...however. It's hard for me to see how this counts as a ten-note scale, because two quintaves stacked on top of each other gets you nine different notes. That said, I don't really understand half the stuff I've read about Georgian polyphony, so maybe there's a totally valid way of interpreting a quintave scale as having ten notes.
Pentatonic scales that repeat at the octave--unlike pentatonic scales that repeat at the fifth--are incredibly common around the world. If we go by what's more common in earth music, then Navani is more likely using using 'quintave' to refer to a pentatonic octave scale, definition B. If that's what she means, however, then Brandon is--as I understand it--taking some liberties with the English language by describing the Alethi scale with the word quintave. Maybe he thinks it's stupid to refer to the 2:1 interval as an 'octave' if it only has five notes, and so he (or rather, a theoretical Alethi music theorist) has renamed that interval the 'quintave'.
Or maybe Alethi music is polyphonic, and 'quintave' is the Alethi way of expressing the importance of parallel fifths in compositions. There are certainly polyphonic music traditions which rely heavily on parallel fifths are a standard way of harmonizing: the medieval organum, some Appalachian folk music, Icelandic tvísöngur, and apparently some Hungarian folk music as well. Probably some of those traditions also involve pentatonic scales, but I'm too tired of writing this post to confirm that. Are you tired of reading this post?
I hope not, because there's one more possibility, which is that Navani really does mean that the Alethi scale is decatonic, rather than pentatonic. As stated above, we almost always use 'scale' to refer to a pattern of notes that repeats at the octave/2:1 interval (again, regardless of whether the octave actually spans 8 notes). If we look at Navani's description of the Thaylen music system, which sounds like an exact analogue to the Pythagorean 12-tone scale across the octave,**** we might assume that Navani similarly assumes a scale always spans exactly one octave, with none of this fudging about polyphony. There are a few ways of organizing a 12-tone division of the octave into a ten-note scale, though I've yet to find one that I actually enjoy listening to. Mathematically speaking, useful decatonic scales are found by first dividing the octave into 12 or 22 or perhaps 20 (etc) even steps and then determining which 10 notes make up the scale you are going to use for your composition. The idea that an entire culture's music would be composed around a decatonic scale seems incredibly unrealistic--and horrifying--because the maths are comparatively not that intuitive. In the real world, decatonic scales don't exist in a vacuum; they exist because Some People have gotten bored with the vast numbers of pentatonic and heptatonic and enneatonic scales that already exist. Also because Some People are really into maths. However, it is possible that the Alethi are so unbelievably dedicated to the number 10 that they really do only (or mostly) play music based on a decatonic scale.
As someone who prefers more normal music and pleasantly obvious mathematics, I can't begin to guess which decatonic scales could be described as being composed of 'two quintaves'. I have no idea what quintave might mean in the context of decatonic music.
Anyway, if you made it this far and you have an opinion on what 'quintave' means in RoW, or you want to tell me what a cretin I am for not appreciating Messiaen, I'd love to hear it.

**The tuning forks Navani uses in RoW makes it seem like this 'ancient system' is based on three pitches, which is an even more restricted system than three intervals. I can't think of a song that uses just three notes, apart from 'Hot Cross Buns'. Idk, maybe the 'ancient' musicians of Roshar--and is Navani referring to the Dawnsingers?--just sang 'Hot Cross Buns' with increasingly insane polyrhythms.
***Well, sometimes. The ancient Greeks called the 2:1 interval the diapason, meaning 'across the whole [scale]', which is a much more accurate name if your scale doesn't actually have 8 notes. Bring back the word diapason!
****Which I learned this afternoon has the same tones as the Chinese shí-èr-lǜ gamut...the more you know. That 12-tone octave really is a nice system, mathematically speaking.

It’s Memorial Day but tomorrow will be a regular Tuesday. This isn’t like Christmas when everything shuts down. There’s one day and then it’s back to normal. But maybe no one is watching? Either way, the big meeting this week is the University of Virginia’s Board of Visitors meeting. Here are some blurbs specially written for Charlottesville intended to inform and educate but never to sensationalize.

• This will be the last meeting of the Board of Visitors by four appointees of former Governor Ralph Northam. It does not appear that Governor Youngkin has made replacement appointees yet, but the balance of the UVa Board will continue to change.
• The final conversation of the Board meeting on Friday will be on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. One of the Youngkin’s first executive orders (#10) was to drop the word Equity in favor of Opportunity for his office. This will be a fascinating discussion to watch and to check back periodically. • On Thursday, the Health System Board will get a report on the Biotechnology Center that will transform the Fontaine Research Park. On Friday, the Buildings and Grounds Committee will review the design for the new biothermal energy plant at Fontaine. I’ll be listening out for any discussion about the impact these uses will have on Albemarle and Charlottesville. Will they talk about the future of the U.S. 29/250/Fontaine interchange? I doubt it, but I’d like to update my story from April.
• The Buildings and Grounds Committee will also review the latest version of the design for the Karsh Institute of Democracy. As you may know. UVA is not subject to any local land use controls because it is a state entity. Anything they own outright is also not subject to property taxes. So the only way any of us not associated with UVA will ever find out about what they’re up to is this meeting. In December, they debated the lack of brick. I’d like to know from BOV members what role they think UVA should be playing to sort out infrastructure issues. Things are less transparent than they used to be.

• Charlottesville City Council meets on Thursday to interview City Manager candidates, Mayor Lloyd Snook said earlier this month that a permanent person is expected to be in place this summer. • In the future, every entity will have an economic development strategy. Albemarle will soon be upgrading Project Enable. Charlottesville is seeking to add a more inclusive plan that seeks to expand economic opportunity. Some background info: My parents work 9-5 jobs. My brother started showing signs (not listening when being called/ couldn't pronounce some words or letters) when he was 3-4 and my parents took him to the doctor who gave him a medicine that would make him sleep for hours. My parents got scared and stopped giving it to him and thought he'd be fine if he went to a normal school and grew up with normal kids. As he grew up he would scream and cry nonstop and throw tantrums and hit his siblings. My dad would hit him as a punishment for this.
After the age 14 my dad stopped hitting him after meeting with the doctors but he started hitting my parents, verbally abusing and shouting a LOTT. He HATED AND HATES his siblings esp me (his sister) and claims i always spit in his food, or go into his room and spit there? I have repeatedly told him i don't do that but he doesn't listen.
We took him to doctors but he WOULD NOT take the medicine they gave him saying "they were drugs" and "they erase his personality" and "there's nothing wrong w him and the doctors are frauds trying to make money". He used to debate about stuff endlessly and get so angry over small things and yell so much and hit everyone. Things got quite bad and he was sent to the hospital so that atleast he could be forced to take his medicine (Two tablets of flux and one tablet olanzia). He returned after 2 weeks and he was better and calmer.
Today his biggest problem is his food and aggression. He won't eat homecooked meal thinking its contaminated and that I spat in it. He orders from a hospital cuz he knows hospital food would be clean. He has lost weight due to such eating habits. He yells and yells if my parents refuse to pay for his food and tell him to eat what's cooked at home. He also yells if my parents refuse to pay for his grocery that he orders such as soap, toothpaste, toilet cleaner, mouthwash which costs a lot since he doesn't use a mouthwash bottle twice. He mostly stays inside his room on his phone. He doesn't have friends or a social life. He doesn't let anyone in his room except his parents sometimes. When he goes out of the house, which is rare, he locks the door and puts a tape on it and takes a picture of the knob so that i don't try to enter. When he sleeps he's worried ill come to his room to spit on his stuff even though he has locked the door from two sides. If my dad removes his lock so that he stops doing this, he yells endlessly again. He didn't go to school the last six months cuz every morning there he would SCREAM because he didnt want to go. We got him tuition instead but he didn't study, said he couldn't focus and didnt even go to give the exam.
Today, although he is a bit better, he's taking a slightly higher dosage of medicine. The thing is, we cant just keep increasing his medicine. He needs therapy and he refuses to take therapy and HATES his doctors and says there's nothing such as ocd or mental illness and its all bs. We book therapy appointments for him but he refuses to go saying he hasn't bathed, hasn't eaten or has other stuff to do.
Before I end, I want to talk about his claim that I spit on his food. This started when I was 14 and he was 12. He would hit me and annoy me and I knew I wasn't as strong as him so instead of hitting him back, I would threaten him that if he hits me, I will spit on him. Reality is to this day I have never spat on him or his food. In fact HE has spat on me 2x. I never ever thought that me threatening him would lead to this.
My parents and I are worried sick. Pls someone help if you have a similar story or any advice especially on trying to get him to attend his therapy sessions.

It is a story that is goofy as hell since it is made up strictly for my own enjoyment and nothing else. However the concept is salvagable(wouldn't write a book, but I can make a hfy post about it). I just need help on guessing some of the effects of my scenario.
The Lore is Earth in 2022 gets invaded by unnamed aliens I will keep unnamed for literary purposes. By the initial invasion Military bases with missile sites, capitals and AA capabilities are targeted and destroyed, along with all large scale electric production (with exceptions because I wanted a cool dam battle however it went offline so kinda excused) , factories and anything else large enough to be worth a shot, such as dense areas of cities.
Aliens have no interest in studying or contacting humans. They have a systematic procedure to extract resources with as little cost as possible. They set up extracting operations with defences that shoot on sight, and the procedure is satellites and laser guns(all solar powered) watching Earth to detect group behaviour over a certain size (like 20 or something) and killing any percieved leader figures until the group is destroyed, making cooperation essentially impossible and humanity devolving into anarchy.
The stuff that are known to potentially trigger an attack include : Carrying banners, flags also used by other groups People giving things without recieving anything equivalent unless it is through use of force Sticking around together in groups larger than tolerated Radio broadcasting and communication Leaders of smaller groups talking to each other or sending envoys Two small enough groups fighting together. Approaching, scouting or doing anything sus near the mines.
Anyways, the story is set in 2027, after everyone that couldn't find a stable food source(farming, herding, fishing, hunting) without depending on others are dead. My Question is, how many humans would be remaining alive in such a scenario? And what materials would an alien civilization be interested and consider valuable?
As for the story, here it is. There is a guy travelling through Turkey meeting ex Turkish military men that dedicatedly observe the satellites, getting an Iranian missile scientist(with some friends) and a Turkish general that worked in İncirlik Base alongside him, they form a conspiracy to 1) Make anti satellite missiles since existing ones were destroyed during the invasion in the initial invasion and 2) Retake İncirlik base from American soldiers turned bandits to access the nukes there and make additional missiles to deliver them and 3) Destroy the satellites and nuke the shit out of alien mines.
It works. Radio silence is broken. Word spreads like wildfire. Entire humanity begins recreating the old world the best they could, and preparing for another war. Restoration conflicts occur, first between nationalists(restorationists) trying to establish a government against all forms of warlords, bandits, raiders, local leaders, separatists that do not cooperate with self proclaimed authorities. In this stage all self appointed legitimate governments cooperate. I had posted about it in this sub, with Turkey and Greece waging war together (The most unrealistic part, I posted about it here on a previous account) against pirates of the Aegean who are the people of the Greek islands having survived by raiding the mainlanders for the past 5 years. After it comes the skirmishing phase with groups loosely aligned with governments that have moved into other nations territory during anarchy being expelled, often turning into border conflicts but not full scale war, and also alternative self proclaimed governments that come close to fighting. And in the end comes the consolidation phase where pre invasion de facto borders are considered legitimate and actively protected by all governments who become more and more legitimate/democratic with warlordism and local powers mostly passed over. Oil production begins again, and the world rebuilds, preparing to attack the enemy planet and defend when they come.
I plan to end the story with humanity sending a fuck you missile to the planet that is origin of the invasion destroying the life on it, and recieving the same some years later, going extinct apart from few bunkers. As for the aliens, I will not say anything in the story but that planet was just the colonial capital. I was inspired by Belgian colonialism (The part about how they demanded 2 hands for every bullet shot from the soldiers so they don't pay for bullets), and thought what if aliens just wanted to exploit the earth with that much greed.
Didn't go for enslavement trope because machines are more efficient, just thought what aliens would do to take resources without a single fuck given about local life. So basically our part of the galaxy is the Congo except they don't care about labour, the aliens are Belgians, we as humans are just a random tribe that put up considerable resistance, managing to burn down the colonial capital and being wiped out as a result.

Tl;dr when I look at words they look somewhere between Arabic, Russian, and the Minecraft enchantment table. Is that Dyslexia or something else?
I (17 F) have my fair share of mental illnesses including but not limited to autism, ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression (all diagnosed). Additionally i have had people tell me I may have OCD or Dyslexia these aren't tested but people who have OCD and Dyslexia are the people telling me i should ask a doctor about it. Thinking I have OCD because there are some things that i have to do in threes like rinsing my mouth after brushing my teeth, if i don't rinse my mouth three times after I can't eat, for a while i had to knock three times before I came into my house or ring the doorbell 3 or 5 times. But thinking I have dyslexia because whenever look at a book that is open all I see is somewhere in-between Arabic, Russian, and Minecraft enchantment table my whole life I thought that was the usual and that was why i didn't like reading (a bit of an issue when your mom is an English teacher) but now in 11th grade I'm a bit late to realize that is not infact how everyone sees words. I feel I should mention that I can't read Russian, Arabic, or Minecraft enchantment table (I can occasionally read gilactuc alphabet when I try hard enough ⌰⟟☍⟒ ⏁⊑⟟⌇). If this isn't dyslexia then I have no idea what it is either way I am going to talk with my doctor about this but I would like to have an idea what it is when I present it to them. I'm not asking for a diagnosis just wondering if it seems like dyslexia or if I should use a different term when presenting it to my doctor.

I rewatched the show from beginning to newest season I noticed something. Everytime they have an event coming where whole office is attending all the women talk together ”i hope Christine is not going to stir up shit cause she always does” and this sentence is mentioned by the girls many times. But here’s the thing. After season 1 not a single time Christine started anything. She always showed up, tried to have a chat (christine’s birthday on earlier seasons, season 4 finale, chelsea’s and christine’s brokers party on season 5 etc). Everything was always fine until one of the girls went to her a provoked her. Season 4 finale when everyone ignored her at the party she said ”i would never put you in that situation” i really do believe that. She always greets everyone (i’m not blind, she is very petty and mean too) but she always comes to the room with professionalism and only starts to act up when she notices everyone is eyeballing her and giving silent treatment. Christine is furthest from innocent. Many times she told press mean shit about her coworkers and obviously these were the things that were boiling under the surface everytime but we are now talking about the events. Everyone was always concerned if she starts shit at these parties. And after the events were over, next day the agents who weren’t there are asking ”how was it” and someone is always quick to point out that ”christine made a scene”. Many times she was driven to the corner which ofc makes her hiss back. And may times when things got heated she removes herself from the situation which is very smart and mature thing to do. I understand the other women’s frustration and hurt but their confortations were coming from a place of kinda wanting to hurt her back and not purely just calling her out. And yes, they follow storylines and ofc something might be scripted and edited but that’s just something I picked up. I always wondered to myself ”she is awlful but WHY I have no hate for her.” and I think I now know why.

Me (22M) and my girlfriend (21F) have been dating for almost one year coming up pretty soon next month. It is the best relationship I have ever been in and she has said the same thing about our relationship countless times. I love her and she loves me and we have had such an amazing relationship so far. The problem is with her mother. Here is some context… after high school I didn’t go to college and instead had a few jobs here and there until I landed a really good one about a year ago with lots of room for growth and already have been promoted twice due to my work ethic. Basically my point is I make quite a decent amount of money for being my age.
Ok her mother hates me or the fact that I didn’t go to college like my girlfriend is right now. She constantly brings it up always in a “subtle” manner. Recently when I’m not around my girlfriend told me that her mom has been saying that me and my girlfriend don’t have the same interests or hobbies and we basically aren’t of the same “economic” stature. Now here is when the insulting of me comes in. I had/have a speech impediment and have for a long time. Especially when I was young I would stumble over my words sometimes and also I get excited about explaining some things I’m interested in and I’ll ramble a little trying to think straight and get the right words. I tried really hard and got over it (for the most part) it presents itself from time to time when I’m nervous… like when I’m talking to my girlfriends mother. And because of this this is another issue of me being of lower economic status and that I speak in an uneducated way.
So now you have a little context. I’m not going to go super into details unless you guys ask for them I don’t really post on Reddit at all and I know my girlfriend uses it so I’ll try not to use too many details.
It is because of this insulting of me and telling her daughter that her and I aren’t compatible that my girlfriend is slightly starting to believe it and doubt our relationship. And it’s not like I am a mean boyfriend in the slightest I shower her in compliments and gifts and always make an effort to show her she is loved. And my girlfriend has told me countless times that she wouldn’t know what to do without all the love and care I show her.
My thoughts are this: this is the most serious relationship either of us has had before in the sense of being a lifetime thing and because of this it causes stress. Her mother will bring up if she wants to marry me and if not not to bring me around the house so my girlfriends mother sees this as a serious relationship as well. I think her mother is panicked about this because although it is the first time me or my girlfriend have been in something this serious. It’s also the same way for her mom when it comes to having a daughter being in a relationship this serious so that may cause them both to maybe panic a little.
I apologize about the frantic thoughts I’m writing this really fast before I have to go do some stuff but I’ll maybe revise it a little so it’s more coherent.

Hey everyone! I just had a few questions about some stuff in the latter half of trails in the sky the 3rd regarding party comp, leveling, and equipment setups. I realize a lot of what im asking isn't super necessary because the game isn't particularly hard but I enjoy min/maxing and making overpowered parties.

• I just unlocked every playable at the point where I am at in game. Do I need to be leveling everyone equally or will the catch up exp save me? I swapped around a lot at the beginning but found my favorites and haven't swapped a lot since. A lot of people are underleveled.
  
• What's your opinion on best/favorite team comp? For me, i've pretty much realized that Renne is the best artes user and Richard is definitely the overpowered craft spammer. I pretty much always bring them along with Kevin because hes pretty much auto included for story and then Grail sphere is always amazing. Not sure who to include last Tita seems really strong in orbal gear as a 4th, or maybe Joshua for his AT delay stuff, Upgraded Jinu Anelace Also seems good. Thoughts?
  
• Whats your thoughts on best ArmoAccessory combos? For Richard I have been using Kitty armor with either ninja tabi's or kitty slippers for all the speed and then wasn't sure about accessories. Currently I am using the Super gladiator headband/Lunar seal but might be overkill for CP generation. Any combos I should try?
  
• For artes users like Renne I have been running speed armor again like Kitty armor and Heat-resistant slippers to counteract the double crimson Eye accessories. Been stacking them for huge ATS buff and the kitty armoboots make up for the speed loss. Any other combos you guys like?
  
• As far as endgame weapons I haven't gotten there yet but I know about the 4 zemurian ore weapons. Who did you give yours too? I was definitely thinking Richard because he seems the most OP to me thus far and then Anelace doesn't need one because she has Jinu. Not sure who else to give one

Me (22M) and my girlfriend (21F) have been dating for almost one year coming up pretty soon next month. It is the best relationship I have ever been in and she has said the same thing about our relationship countless times. I love her and she loves me and we have had such an amazing relationship so far. The problem is with her mother. Here is some context… after high school I didn’t go to college and instead had a few jobs here and there until I landed a really good one about a year ago with lots of room for growth and already have been promoted twice due to my work ethic. Basically my point is I make quite a decent amount of money for being my age.
Ok her mother hates me or the fact that I didn’t go to college like my girlfriend is right now. She constantly brings it up always in a “subtle” manner. Recently when I’m not around my girlfriend told me that her mom has been saying that me and my girlfriend don’t have the same interests or hobbies and we basically aren’t of the same “economic” stature. Now here is when the insulting of me comes in. I had/have a speech impediment and have for a long time. Especially when I was young I would stumble over my words sometimes and also I get excited about explaining some things I’m interested in and I’ll ramble a little trying to think straight and get the right words. I tried really hard and got over it (for the most part) it presents itself from time to time when I’m nervous… like when I’m talking to my girlfriends mother. And because of this this is another issue of me being of lower economic status and that I speak in an uneducated way.
So now you have a little context. I’m not going to go super into details unless you guys ask for them I don’t really post on Reddit at all and I know my girlfriend uses it so I’ll try not to use too many details.
It is because of this insulting of me and telling her daughter that her and I aren’t compatible that my girlfriend is slightly starting to believe it and doubt our relationship. And it’s not like I am a mean boyfriend in the slightest I shower her in compliments and gifts and always make an effort to show her she is loved. And my girlfriend has told me countless times that she wouldn’t know what to do without all the love and care I show her.
My thoughts are this: this is the most serious relationship either of us has had before in the sense of being a lifetime thing and because of this it causes stress. Her mother will bring up if she wants to marry me and if not not to bring me around the house so my girlfriends mother sees this as a serious relationship as well. I think her mother is panicked about this because although it is the first time me or my girlfriend have been in something this serious. It’s also the same way for her mom when it comes to having a daughter being in a relationship this serious so that may cause them both to maybe panic a little.
I apologize about the frantic thoughts I’m writing this really fast before I have to go do some stuff but I’ll maybe revise it a little so it’s more coherent.

TL;DR: My girlfriend’s (of almost one year) mom is telling her that I am not going to be a good boyfriend long term because of my economic status even though I have a great job and am extremely responsible but her mom dislikes me because I didn’t go to college and her moms opinion is causing my girlfriend stress and partly starting to believe her.
