Hello terraria developers, I have some ideas to give functionality to the shimmer fairy since I saw this creature I loved it but the truth is that it is very very useless so I have some ideas to improve it
1-something I noticed is that the shimmer fairy can be put in a bottle and I thought hey it would be great if it was something like the mana stars in a bottle so my first idea is that the shimmer fairy in a bottle gives a buff to the player Something like increasing luck very little and that it accumulates little by little until it reaches a point like the one that gives the minor luck potion, so they would be a good help when farming enemies.
2-the other idea I had is that they could appear very rarely on the surface above the shimmer so it could be located more easily and help the players to find it.
3-this idea is a bit mad subjective because I feel it would be great if you manage to capture a shimmer fairy with the golden net and throw it at the shimmer this tea of a pet summoner can be anything a bigger fairy a creature of the shimmer or anything you can think of.
PS: if something is written wrong, it's because I used a translator, I don't speak English :/

2023.04.28 13:44 TeelerPlays Is the Shimmer biome (The Aether) in terraria Calamity mod?
I have been looking for the shimmer for ages because on the wiki it says you need to throw Essence of Chaos into shimmer liquid and then it will turn into Essence of Law so I assumed that it was in the game but I can't find it.

2023.04.22 22:34 NornIronConor2 What type of world should I use?
I've just started playing terraria again. I stopped playing shortly after 1.3 came to xbox ( I think it was 1.3, it had the graveyards, zenith and Queen Slime and stuff like that) So I think i now know I need to start a new world anyway to get certain biomes like the shimmer biome and to be be able to get certain Slime pets to complete the bestiary. So what difficulty is best to play on and what size world is best for the new updates and to get the most.

(I don't know the proper way to get Relogic's attention so I'm posting it here) -Intro- Shimmer it's self is a really cool idea, especially with the ability to pass through blocks. An ability to be able to freely noclip and fly through blocks would be really cool, especially for endgame corruption management.
-Table of Contents- -intro -table of contents -acquiring of the Shimmer Containment Unit -corruption management with SCU -creative expression -potential problems -TLDR
-Acquiring of the Shimmer Containment Unit- the Shimmer Containment Unit (SCU) would be obtained via dropping a normal Drill Containment Unit(DCU) into a pool of shimmer, upon the shimmering the player would receive an Uncharged SCU. The Uncharged SCU would only become active post Moon Lord (for balancing reasons)
-Corruption management with SCU- The corruption management it's self is way too tedious of a task, especially if there's a breach in corruption containment. The whole purpose of containing the corruption is to preserve the beautiful green Terraria landscape, with beautiful caves lined with simple stone. Except there's a problem with corruption, tunnels will most likely need to be made, completely ruining the natural beauty of a world you plan to purify.
-Creative Expression- It's endgame, now would be a time to build stuff, and what would be a better tool than the ability to be anywhere, things like wiring would be so much easier.
-Potential problems- -The SCU could make the achievement of ridding the world of corruption way to easy (response) this is a legitimate concern however, as impressive as purifying a world is by the laws of physics is it's really more trouble than it's worth.
-The galaxy effect given to the surrounding blocks would make them impossible to differentiate from other galaxyed tiles (response) if the player were to be holding a mining tool or building block the effect would automatically be canceled, and in the case of seeing corrupted blocks specifically there's already a potion for that, the Biome Sight potion
-TLDR- Shimmering a DCU will give an uncharged SCU, which will only become charged after Moon Lord is dead. It would offer the player a way to freely fly around their world being unbound by block collisions. It would also provide benefits to building and corruption management.

2023.03.27 19:42 throw-away451 First time going into hard mode, how should I approach this?
I’ve started Terraria a few times over the years but always ended up not continuing because I’ve had other things come up in my life. The last time I played was about 8 or 9 months ago when I continued from an older world I’d generated. I did quite a few things and made it to the point where I was ready to fight the Wall of Flesh and enter hard mode:
In the process, I learned that I’m missing out on an entire new biome (shimmer) because my world was generated years ago. I am not sure how I want to handle this. I think it might be a good idea to generate a new world that incorporates all the updates I’ve missed out on, but what approach should I take?
Also, on the subject of hard mode, a few questions:

- Defeated Eye of Cthulhu (twice), Brain of Cthulhu, King Slime, Queen Bee (twice), and Skeletron, all without much trouble and no deaths
- Created a rail track from one ocean to the other in the sky above the surface
- Created a vertical rail track along natural and excavated tunnels that goes from right next to the default spawn area down to the top part of the underworld
- Leveraged a rail track that spawned with the world and created a rail system that covers the middle 60% or so of the underground horizontally, maybe 3/4 of the way down to the underworld
- Found Fledgling Wings in a chest on a cloud, and I also got all of the “jar” jump enhancing items (I created another world in order to find one that didn’t exist in my world), which I merged into one item that combines all four effects
- Have a full set of the armor from the underworld ore, and very good weapons
- Explored the dungeon a bit, but I haven’t gone far
- Done about 20 fishing quests
In the process, I learned that I’m missing out on an entire new biome (shimmer) because my world was generated years ago. I am not sure how I want to handle this. I think it might be a good idea to generate a new world that incorporates all the updates I’ve missed out on, but what approach should I take?
- Just go in with my existing character and bring a bunch of items with me, blasting through the terrain (literally, now that I have read how useful bombs are) to optimize travel and set up the world efficiently with the knowledge I’ve gained
- Bring in a few useful/rare items, but start a new character and don’t use any of it until I’ve gotten far enough to “deserve” it (e.g., bring the meteor zapper gun over, but don’t equip it until a meteor actually appears)
- Start a new character from scratch
- Force myself to continue in my existing world (I don’t see how this is ideal though)
Also, on the subject of hard mode, a few questions:
- I know about the V-shaped biome corruption that happens as soon as hard mode is reached, and that I can’t completely pre-empt it because it’s random. What should I do that doesn’t involve creating a grid pattern through the entire world? Would establishing “hellevators” at the boundaries between biomes be good enough at this point to give me easy access to stop the spread? I am able to use purifying powder but I understand there’s a special gun that is much more efficient to cleanse biomes, but it’s way later in hard mode and the spread won’t wait for you. I don’t really want to rush, and would rather take my time building my strength in early hard mode.
- How essential are potions and other consumables in hard mode? I’ve done fine without using anything so far, but I’m extremely cautious and patient.
- Is there anything else I really need to do before I continue to hard mode? I plan on getting all of the items that eventually get used to make the Ankh Shield, and create a rail system in the underworld for the Wall of Flesh.
