2023.06.08 16:21 swhipple87 Service Experience -> Props to the Madison Heights service center
Unfortunately had a 12V warning go off on day 2 of ownership and it said it needed a tow. My biggest complaint about this service process was when I called in they said they could tow it and if I asked if they could service it via Mobile service it took almost 6 hours to get back to me and at that point it was a Friday evening and they said they could tow Monday morning.
However from here the experience goes great. They towed me on time on Monday morning. Got back to me quickly with updates (the issue was the DC-DC converter) and even knocked out a small paint chip I had a separate ticket for. Car was ready to be picked up on Wednesday and she's now back home.
While overall having the issue on the second day and being without the car for a total of 5 was a HUGE BUMMER. In hindsight this got resolved really fast and better than any other service I've had from cars before. Hopefully no more bumps in the road but I do feel a bit better having gotten one out of the way and having a great customer service experience

2023.06.08 16:16 kanna172014 Let's say you pay a bunch of people with anger issues to do an experiment
Basically the idea of the experiment is to see if they can be "reprogrammed" not to be angry. They get a chip implanted at the base of their brain that can read their thoughts and if they have a hateful or violent thought, they receive a painful disciplinary jolt. How long would it likely to take to condition them not to think hateful thoughts?

2023.06.08 16:06 sameranio GeForce RTX™ 3080 GAMING OC WATERFORCE WB 10G dilemma
| Hi everyone, I've been having a bit of a dilemma, finally decided to clean out my loop after 2 years (yes yes I know I'm negligent xp), card was bought on 03/06/2021. I had noticed some green on my waterblock but wrote it of as algae, after looking the card up I found out about a year ago there were some reports of the block being aluminium. [first 3 pics would be the 'algae' pics] Now I've disassembled my block etc to see how far it would be damaged and it seems OK. [last pic is it cleaned up with what seems like chips in the fins] Now on to my dilemma: -I've been looking at buying a new case etc, so could also calculate in a new block. But I'm not sure if I want to spend a lot more on this card and wouldn't really know what block to buy, I've seen biksky and barrow recommended but seems like I would be out of commission for a week them. -Another option would be maybe dealing with rma'ing the card because I'm not sure if the raised hotspot temp etc could have damaged the card. -And the last option would be just dealing with it seeing as it survived 2 years already. I don't really know what to do atm X'D. Sorry for my not so perfect English BTW and thanks in advance for any help :) Sam submitted by sameranio to GigabyteSucks [link] [comments] |
2023.06.08 16:06 PhysicalRow4225 How do radeon gpu models work?
Hey everyone, recently my rtx 2060 had some sort of chip failure. It still functions perfectly fine, but coming out of sleep or being shut off it doesn’t boot, so I’m looking to replace it soon.
Looking around micro center I’ve found great prices on 3060s and even 4070s but I’ve heard that the lack of vram can be a nightmare. I’ve heard good things about AMD’s graphics cards, butI don’t know much on AMD’s Radeon line, including which model is the equivalent to a 3060 or 3070.
Can someone help me understand how Radeon’s models align with Nvidia’s, or recommend me a good card with similar performance?
Thanks in advance.

2023.06.08 16:06 Jhonjournalist Impact of US-China Chip War on South Korea Tech Giants
| The U.S.- China chip war could influence South Korea‘s chip monsters as China represents an enormous lump of their creation limit — yet there ought not to be long-haul interruptions, as indicated by Fitch Evaluations. Samsung Gadgets and SK Hynix face taking a chance as the U.S. tries to obstruct China’s admittance to cutting-edge semiconductor chip gear, as per the June 7 report. US-China Chip War China represents 40% of Samsung’s all-out streak memory chips (NAND) creation capacity, said the investigators drove by Matt Jamieson. It likewise represents 40%-half of SK Hynix’s dynamic irregular access memory (Measure) chips and 20% of its NAND limit. In the U.S. in October acquainted clearing rules with slicing off China‘s admittance to acquire or produce cutting-edge semiconductor chips. They came as worries developed over China’s capacity to utilize such cutting-edge chips to propel its tactical abilities. - The Netherlands and Japan are purportedly ready to stick to this same pattern.
- The organizations’ manufacturing plants in China make progressed chips as well as more established chips, which are absolved from the U.S. limitations.
- Memory chips are created for Chinese utilization as well as commodities.
Notwithstanding, the two chip goliaths got one-year waivers from the U.S. to keep bringing in cutting-edge apparatuses for their China plants until October, as per the Korea Times. In what is viewed as a retaliatory move, China prohibited the offer of items from Micron for use in basic data foundation in May. The White House allegedly encouraged South Korea not to allow its chipmakers to make up for Micron’s shortcomings in China. Around 10% of Micron’s income comes from China, as indicated by Micron’s monetary 2022 report. Nonetheless, dangers could additionally increment if the U.S. or on the other hand China execute more outrageous decisions and boycotts, as it will influence the expense and accessibility of semiconductor store network parts, they added. 2023.06.08 16:05 bucat2 Whoever is running marketing should get fired
This is all in assumption that it is the same person that approved the past promos like 50% off entire order TWICE one with no heads up and one with a heads up and had to use promo code. It is insanely stupid for anyone to believe there would only be a 20% increase for a promo that took $25 off a $12 order. we are giving away free food to people (yes I know doordash funded it) but it is ridiculous to ever be so naïve to believe people wouldn't take FULL advantage of that. the stress they put the employees through with this is dumb and unnecessary just stick with the good ol' fashioned extra points for chips and drinks for customer appreciation month this has never given us any issues and actually incentivizes customers to spend more per visit and visit more through the whole month rather than just giving them free food for two days ( i know 2nd day got cancelled but it was planned for 2 days).

2023.06.08 16:02 zeriottt Big 4 Audit - Investment Management Exits
Hi all,
Context:
I have been given and accepted an offer for an Audit position in the investment management space (Asset management, pension funds, hedge funds, and private equity), and want to have a realistic expectation for exits in the space.
My long term career goal has been to work in the investment management space (ideally working in a position with a % PnL) because I learned about markets from a young age (and the $$$ it entails) and decided to pursue it for its stark competitiveness. I have managed my own small investment book in the last few years, marginally outperforming the market throughout, primally through macro swing trades (FX trades in predictable movements between my home currency and USD).
It was never my intention to pursue accounting (I am a Finance and Economics grad), and thus I am torn about pursuing the CA; On one hand, it would pain me to work in a field I have no passion for, on the other hand, there are few unemployed CA's out there, thus I am weighing the benefit of putting all my chips in to pursue finance, or put some chips to the side, and guarantee a safe exit if shit ever hits the fan, but mitigating my upside in the process.
Questions :In my position, is it optimal to:
Exit to a client at senior with no CA?
Exit to a client at senior + n Years with CA?
Or
Exit to TAS/CF, and subsequently exit to the aforementioned fields?
How realistic are the prospects of making it into the investment management space (hopefully skipping out on the investment banking route) with this pathway, or whatever of the options I listed that you believe are optimal?
Note: investment banking isn't a 'non-negotiable' per se, but an extremely steep ask. I understand hours in Big4 are tremendous, however I already have a tumultuous relationship with my mental health, and in all reality, there is a possibility that banking hours may be enough to push me to the point of no return.
Note: My grades were too poor to make it directly into a CF/Investment Management firm straight out of college, I was incredibly close in one instance at a small firm, however it fell through.
Thank you all for your insight.

2023.06.08 16:01 morinothomas Wanting to do drag, how can I create a persona and choose a name?
| I wanted to share my minor aspiration about wanting to do drag as I feel it could be another creative outlet for me outside of video-editing and simultaneously assist me in finally starting to cosplay. I always fantasized about doing drag but I need to learn more so I can properly pay my dues, as I've only witnessed a handful of drag performances in person. I can't experiment now due to finances, but I hope to learn to sew and cosplay in the future. I also feel like I'm too old to start while reaching 30, and being 6'6" and built, shopping for sizes 16-18 heels is EXPENSIVE. Onto the topic, I'm curious to know how one goes about assuming a persona. My influences and aesthetics would stem from vaporwave, astronomy, cosplay, anime, video games, and blackness. My principles would be to present myself as "colorful, eclectic, and ethereal". I would see myself as a performance queen, coming from a small background in dance and martial arts. For names, that...has been a bust. Names I conjured up were Alfrèda Hytes, Lupita Bread, D.D Ariana (an abysmal pun on DDR), Gina Goliath, Marisa Thee Stallion, Anna-May, Oatmeal, Prism, Dural, Tina Rexha (stemming from Tina Rex from Gumball and being a giant myself), and recently...Amanda McHoller. To wrap it up, please feel free to delete this if it's completely unnecessary to have a post rambling about my curiosity and thoughts. submitted by morinothomas to Drag [link] [comments] |

2023.06.08 15:54 Jimli63 How do I (M30) explain to my wife (F27) that eating healthier won't automatically cause her to lose weight?
Hey all, could definitely use some advice here. My wife and I keep getting into the same dispute over dieting goals. We've been married for a year and she isn't happy with the amount of weight she's gained since then (~45lbs). She's a strong advocate for eating healthier which I love, but perhaps not for the same reason I do.
She says that healthier fresh foods cause less weight gain than cheaper processed foods, but she doesn't seem to understand that the reason for that is because they have less calories. So I responded that while that's true, you're not going to lose any weight if you eat more calories of healthy food than you would have with unhealthy food. You'd still be healthier for sure, but you wouldn't be losing weight. She always responds with "yes but if you're eating healthier than you wouldn't want to eat as much."
I'm at a loss because while everything she's saying is true, to me it misses the point, and the past year seems to show it. She's cut out a lot of pasta, white bread, rice, etc. but has been replacing it with literal large mixing bowls of salad that she'll eat in one sitting. She'll snack on fruit, nuts, and occasionally cookies she'll bake for fun instead of potato chips, but she's frequently snacking between meals. She's more active with running and biking than ever before, so it makes her even more upset that somehow she's still gaining weight. On my side, I'm starting to feel additional strain because now the amount of money we're spending on food has increased in chase of healthier options: instead of cage-free organic eggs at the supermarket, we need to pay double for the eggs sold at the farmer's market. Instead of the regular supermarket meat, we ideally should buy from the local butcher, all while she's eating more than before.
I want to be sensitive in my approach because I've basically been taught women are very sensitive on the topic of food and weight. Her parents were not the most sensitive on the subject growing up, although they spent (and I'm not joking here) $2,000 a month just on groceries (they were pretty rich growing up). I on the other hand grew up extremely poor, and my siblings and I were paper thin. She says that's just because we naturally have fast metabolisms (kinda true), but I think it's yet another area where she's making excuses so she doesn't have to take responsibility. This happens a lot.
How do I explain to my wife that she needs to eat less if she wants to lose weight, and in a winsome way?

2023.06.08 15:48 Dj_acclaim You know Sydney is even more expensive than you could imagine when?
Pull up to IVY after seeing Cerrone next door and entry is $35 apparently.
People are talking about Chip prices and Maccas feeling expensive now. But Sydney has its own localised issues and I'm sure there's more.
The Guzman deal is $13 (but not localised)
I'll think of more and add more later.
Not trying to push first world problems either. This is just one example of many that surely exist as well.

2023.06.08 15:48 TonyTwoPutts Golf Trip Format Tips?
So, myself and 7 others are doing a golf trip in a few months and we wanted to make it somewhat competitive and have a bit of a 'major' feel to it. (Similar to some of the stuff GoodGood has done). We are going to be playing 3 rounds of golf with back-to-back tee-times each day and wanted to get some feedback on what everyone's thoughts are on this format I created.
Thinking of doing a $100 buy into the weekend, with
1st place taking home 560, 2nd taking 160, and 3rd taking 80. Wanted to separate the rounds into various minigames and based on placement in the minigame, you get a certain amount of points. For example:
Golfer Position | Wolf | Chicago | 2 Man Scramble |
1 | 150 | 150 | 200 |
2 | 100 | 100 | 175 |
3 | 75 | 50 | 150 |
4 | 50 | 25 | 100 |
5 | 25 | 20 | x |
6 | 20 | 15 | x |
7 | 15 | 10 | x |
8 | 10 | 5 | x |
Some people might find this to be overkill, but we all love the thought behind this and just want to refine it best we can. The general thought with the scoring is wolf and chicago will be graded on a 1-8 ranking combining both groups scores into a giant leaderboard, then the scramble will just be stroke play. I also figured the scramble being weighted a bit more on Sunday could shake some things up.
I do feel like the point totals need some adjustment though. (help pls) We are also considering implementing some miscellaneous ways to earn points such as:
Hole in 1: 250
Chip in (greenside): 25
Hole out from 50+ yards: 50
Bunker hole out: 50
Birdie: 10
Eagle: 25
Albatross: 100
340+ yard drive: 25
Any round under par: 50
Each round do a closest to the pin on a preselected par 3: 25
What do you guys think? Is there anything you would change or anything you would suggest adding? Let me know, I am open to all advice or thoughts as this is our first golf trip.
PS- I feel that I should also add that most of these minigames are somewhat handicapped as we have a range of golfers from 13ish handicappers to 25ish handicappers. Also everyone is all cool with the scramble on our last day since we are going to most likely be hungover & exhausted.
