I will be discussing stock, ETF and 401k allocations. This will be based on a consensus of market outlooks & allocations from research papers from Wall St's biggest banks and investment firms (Amundi, Bank of America, Blackrock, Franklin Templeton, HSBC, JP Morgan, Merrill, PIMCO, T. ROWE, TD, SAGE, SUNTRUST, etc.). Feel free to pull the literature from their respective websites, but I've complied their data, and weighted each asset class to generate alpha.

2023.06.09 15:44 BadMovli Back to blue collar?

Here's my situation. I'm in my mid 40's and I've been in the corporate world nearly my entire career. I've done well, nearly paid off my house, banked over 300k in 401k, sitting on about 200k in other assets and am considering a career change. Why? I'm absolutely burnt out. This corporate rat race is so stressful, fake and filled with greed. Frankly, I'm tired of playing the game and really just want to do my job, not join meetings and be left alone.
That said, I'm considering returning to blue collar or finding a role where I can just fo my job and be left alone. Problem with blue collar is the $. I'm assuming it can ve difficult to step into a job with no experience and make what I make in corporate.
The other option is finding a role working from home and minimal stress and really just be left alone. Being mid 40's I'm really just trying to get to retirement at this p⁷oint.
Any suggestions?

2023.06.09 15:10 scars2121 How to best keep distance from abusive family?

My immediate family abused me for 20 years, and severely harmed all aspects of my life - physical and mental health, education, career, deen, etc.
I forgave them many times but it got to the point where I had to move away and stop contact with them temporarily to take care of myself.
I understand it's a major sin to cut off ties with kinship but I can no longer be in contact with them because they are extremely toxic and abusive. I get triggered with PTSD everytime I am in contact with them, and it harms my mental health.
They are also financially struggling, and I have done well financially so I understand it's my obligation now to financially support them too.
To not commit any sins, can I only send money to each of them (parents and siblings) each month (automatic bank deposit) but have absolutely no contact with them (text, calls, emails, in-person, etc.) so it doesn't affect my mental health. I will send them the bare minimum to live comfortably.
If I only send them money but have no contact whatsoever for the rest of my life, technically I am not cutting them off and not committing any sins right?

2023.06.09 14:59 yerederetaliria Monday ... yandere/yeredere dating is simple ... just never let go

Monday comes around and I'm brand new and the world is full of love. As I confidently and energetically march to my first class I think about the weekend I just had. I spent all Friday night dancing with the man that I had been longing for and stalking for the past six months. That night was filled with the revelation that there is something between us, something deep. It culminated with my short confession and a lovely kiss. It was followed by a grand Saturday night date listening to music, talking, sweetly flirting. He also took initiative late Saturday with a kiss that curled my toes, making me feel reborn and full of fire.
I had made an agreement with him that today was the day we'd meet again. We'd meet for lunch, my request. I surprised him and everyone in the our group when I boldly changed his suggestion revealing that I knew his schedule. The time was agreed on with no questions asked. It was partly a mistake and partly a reveal. I knew I was taking a chance by slowly letting him know what I'd been up to but I wanted us to be right. I felt that I needed a clean slate almost as much as I needed him.
The day dragged on but I was really energized and able to focus on class because I had hope. I went to work from 9:00 - 11:45 on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I worked at a campus bank called RamCache. There were unique credit/debit cards that could access your student account and we serviced the cards. The cards could be used to purchase whatever a student needed. I worked with my best friend and apt mate, Brenda. There are very few people who know my whole story and she is one. We were living together when I "met" Finnian. She was the first person I talked to about him. She saw all my antics from the beginning, through the stalking, dating, marriage until she moved away after the birth of my daughter. We still keep in touch. You can thank Brenda for introducing me to meme culture and suggesting Reddit as an additional place to vent. She suggested Reddit during the pandemic. She gave me my first meme, which I modified for privacy. This is her front row seat perspective.
She also had a "fiance." She and her "fiance" had an on/off relationship where they couldn't seem to make up their mind if they were just friends or engaged. This had been going on for two years. If we are going to continue Anime tropes the two of them would definitely be a Tsundere/Dandere(Brenda) couple while Finnian and I would be a Kuudere/Yandere(Me) couple. Eventually Finnian would meet her fiance, Trevor, and they would become very close friends. He was an art major and into Anime and he introduced us to Anime. He was also the one who continued giving me odd nicknames like, "Yukako" and "Storm." I didn't understand the references at the time. Apparently I intimidated him. He was the one that said to Finnian, "you're the only guy I know who'd be calm holding the leash to a tiger." This knew couple what we were about and didn't judge.

I restrained myself and waited for Finnian to show and he was right on time. I threw my arms around him causing a little scene and announced that I got him some coffee. This is another tell. I already knew his coffee order. Before we went outside I introduced him to my boyfriend. I am relationship elevating in front of everyone and trying to weave our lives together by starting a friendship with Brenda. This is where I differ. I do not isolate him but rather I accompany and surround him. I make it obvious to everyone that we are a couple. His only response was a slightly confused look he gave me which I ignored. He and I have different personalities. He is reserved, calm, and very quiet. I am more open, excitable, and talkative. That's why I ramble in my posts. There were benches right outside the Student Center near a flower garden and we sat there. There is a large open pedestrian area in the middle of campus that reminded me of the plazas back in Spain. This would become a routine. Sitting on the bench with coffee or tea, holding hands and talking, weather permitting. I want to emphasize the fact that most of our "dates" were just that. You don't have to be extravagant to date someone. There's no need for shows or expenses. We had nicer dates but most of the time we just sat, talked and held hands. A lot of our future relationship was worked out there. Including serious topics such health and money issues. Goals for marriage, property, finances, education, kids. We talked through differences in opinions and came to understandings. We just had fun laughing at people. I do not know what we talked about that first Monday or most of the week. When we couldn't be outside we went to the upstairs gallery in the student center. Did I mention that we held hands? Oh my God, I am insane with his hands. It would get awkward. Him: "I need you to let go." Me: "I can't let go." Him; "Just let go.' Me: "No." Him: "I need both hands now...thank you." *me scooching even closer to him* .... *my hand slowly takes his arm...*
If you read carefully you can get some dating advice from us. A short list so far: get help and use friends, direct each other, talk and look for commonalities, talk and resolve differences, laugh, talk about serious issues, talk about silly things, go cheap, hold hands, both should pay and without much negotiation, both should initiate.
So we started a routine. Bench dates followed by periodic nicer dates. Daily meetings and conversations. (After we married I started keeping track of the number of days we've been apart physically. The total number in 23 years is 30 days. We have talked every day.) Very quickly this would change as I would invade his space even more. At this point I was still stalking but much less. I was mainly focusing on inserting myself into different parts of his life and bringing him into mine. I was smothering and clingy. I was relationship elevating and trying to slowly reveal that I had been stalking him. He was figuring out that I am not interested in a temporary fling but I am serious. He'll clarify that in the next few days.
Trevor's "Yukako" inspiration: Trevor teased me that I was using magic or something with Finnian. Trevor and Finnian also had this odd vibe where they would denigrate each other. Trevor would accused Finnian of being stupid when he would then seriously and affectionately compliment him. Finnian return the favor by calling Trevor, "my son" it was a weird Bro thing. Finnian is no Koichi, he's closer to Giyu Tomioka. see how Giyu holds her at 0:18 - 1:30 ? That is the vibe Trevor was talking about. I don't understand Finnian's refusal to panic. I have never seen him panic. He's been angry, wept, laughed, excited like a puppy but never panic. It's a huge f*ckin' turn on. Enough gushing.
Trevor's "Storm" inspiration: I didn't think I was that bad.
Where our "bench dates" were:,-105.0839187,2a,75y,351.34h,84.93t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1srEtp71P0Ldeg71epC7AbHA!2e0!!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttu
(I really am sorry that the fancy links aren't showing like I want them to.)
Right behind the construction is Lory Student Center, straight ahead are a variety of benches and gardens, straight ahead further back was Physics, RamCache was inside the Student center, turn around and on the right is the library (the library was such a stalking hang out for me, I was so very bad even trying to sneak things from him or leave things for him when he temporarily left a desk he was studying at)

2023.06.09 14:44 autotldr American Politics Would Have Been Infinitely Better Without Pat Robertson

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 73%. (I'm a bot)
The best I can say about Pat Robertson, the Christopolitical television star and onetime presidential candidate who, on Thursday, went off to glory, is that he eventually faded into irrelevance and that he was easily surpassed for pure craziness and reckless damage by succeeding generations of clerical errors who took up politics as a career.
In December 2020, amid intensifying efforts by President Donald J. Trump and his supporters to overturn the election, Mr. Robertson told viewers of his television show, "The 700 Club," that a lawsuit filed by the Texas attorney general challenging results in four states was a "Miracle." "They're going to the Supreme Court to say, 'This election was rigged and you've got to overturn it,'" Mr. Robertson said, citing unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud.
Despite his own awfulness, or, alas, because of it, his son Pat was a transformative figure in American politics, and in American culture generally.
David John Marley, the author of Pat Robertson: An American Life, said that Mr. Robertson's statements were calculated to arouse his core following: Christians who felt ignored or mistreated by elites.
Pat Robertson rendered an awful lot to Caesar, as well as rendering an awful lot to his bank account.
Paranoia is the rock on which Pat Robertson built his church.

2023.06.09 12:11 tokeni Questions to ask when networking?

Currently recruiting for Private Equity, Venture Capital, and Hedge Fund. Investment Banking is also in the question but is not my first choice as of now.
I'll be meeting with a Private Equity director soon, as well as a venture fund founder after that. When I get to meet these very accomplished individuals, both of whom have been really successful in going the traditional finance route (GS/Boutique IB then pivoting into VC/PE), what questions should I ask them to get the most out of our conversations-to-be? How do I sensibly request for a summer internship especially if it isn't a formal interview without seeming a rude candidate?
This is very likely my last proactive attempt to break into finance because I've tried every method possible for recruiting including constantly seeing career development professionals, soliciting opportunities via cold-calling and emailing, attending alum networking events, and applying to jobs on the online market. Every trick, new and old, has been exhausted to no good showing. Though I am extremely confident that I will be a 99th percentile performer in finance, assuming a best case scenario in which I land an internship for summer 2024, it seems that there's no way of breaking in.
If these networking opportunities fall flat, then I'll start my own hedge fund or something like that. Seriously though, what advice can you tell me or, more generally speaking, to anyone who is looking to ask the right questions to important people?

2023.06.09 10:37 xMouda [PAYPAL] [FREELANCING] AlexBank Stopped Supporting Paypal

So, another day in Egypt with the Online Payments Regulations...

Now, long story short, I have used AlexBank with Paypal for years and it has been awesome. However, 2 weeks ago I found out paypal sending me a notice that the transaction was declined and when I checked with my AlexBank, they said,
"The management has sent a notice that Paypal is no longer supported"
Now, I am a freelancer and while I use Payoneer for long term investments, I like to withdraw instant money through Paypal (because it takes 1 min to reach my account). Payoneer uses bank transactions which take like 3-4 business days to reach my account.
However, since AlexBank no longer supports PayPal, I need to find another bank. I have heard that EasyPay from the Post Office works well? I don't know

What are your recommendations for banks that support PayPal and online payments in general? Also, what are the legal steps I should take now for my freelancing career to continue without suffering from regulations..

PS: I don't mind paying taxes, I want to know if the regulations have already been in place and if this will allow me to write freelancer on my ID.

How To Become a Quantitative Analyst?

They play a crucial role in investment banking, asset management, hedge funds, and other financial institutions. If you're intrigued by the intersection of finance, mathematics, and data analysis, becoming a Quantitative Analyst might be an exciting career path for you. Here are the steps to embark on this journey:

Obtain a Strong Educational Foundation:

A solid educational background in mathematics, statistics, finance, or a related field is essential. Earn a bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline and consider pursuing a master's or Ph.D. to deepen your knowledge and specialize in areas such as financial engineering, computational finance, or quantitative finance.

Familiarize yourself with relevant libraries and frameworks commonly used in quantitative finance, such as NumPy, pandas, or TensorFlow.

Acquire Financial Knowledge:

Gain a solid understanding of financial markets, instruments, and theories. Study topics like portfolio management, derivatives, risk management, and asset pricing models. Taking specialized courses or obtaining certifications like the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation can enhance your financial knowledge and credibility.

Master Mathematical and Statistical Techniques:

Build a Strong Analytical Skillset:

Develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Quants need to dissect complex financial problems, design models, and interpret results. Enhance your ability to handle large datasets, identify patterns, and make data-driven decisions.

Stay Updated with Industry Trends:

The financial industry and quantitative finance are constantly evolving. Stay updated with the latest market trends, technological advancements, and research publications. Attend conferences, join professional organizations, and engage with online communities to network and stay informed.

Continual Learning and Professional Development:

In conclusion, pursuing a career as a Quantitative Analyst offers exciting opportunities at the intersection of finance, mathematics, and data analysis. To embark on this journey, focus on obtaining a strong educational foundation, developing programming skills, and acquiring financial knowledge. 2023.06.09 08:49 saimohana What are the advantages and disadvantages of sole proprietors?

Advantages of Sole Proprietorship:
  1. Easy and Inexpensive Formation: One of the key advantages of a sole proprietorship is its simplicity and low cost of formation. Compared to other business structures like partnerships or corporations, establishing a sole proprietorship typically involves minimal legal paperwork and formalities.
  2. Complete Control: As a sole proprietor, you have complete control and decision-making authority over your business. You can set your own goals, make quick decisions, and implement changes without having to consult with partners or shareholders.
  3. Direct Profits: As the sole owner, you are entitled to keep all the profits generated by the business. There is no need to share the earnings with partners or shareholders.
  4. Tax Benefits: Sole proprietorships offer certain tax advantages. The business income is reported on the owner's personal income tax return (Form 1040), which simplifies the tax filing process. Additionally, sole proprietors are eligible for certain deductions and credits that can help reduce their overall tax liability.
  5. Flexibility: Sole proprietorships offer flexibility in terms of operations and management. You have the freedom to adapt to market changes, switch business strategies, and make quick decisions without the need for extensive consultations or corporate formalities.
Disadvantages of Sole Proprietorship:
  1. Unlimited Personal Liability: The main disadvantage of a sole proprietorship is that the owner has unlimited personal liability for the business's debts and obligations. If the business cannot meet its financial obligations, creditors can go after the owner's personal assets, including personal bank accounts, property, and savings.
  2. Limited Access to Capital: Sole proprietors often face challenges in raising capital for their businesses. Since they have unlimited personal liability, lenders and investors may be hesitant to provide substantial funding. As a result, sole proprietors may rely heavily on personal savings or loans to finance their ventures.
  3. Limited Expertise and Resources: Running a business as a sole proprietor can be demanding, as you are responsible for all aspects of the business. This includes tasks such as finance, marketing, operations, and administration. It can be challenging to possess expertise in all areas, and the lack of specialized skills and resources may hinder growth and competitiveness.
  4. Limited Life Span: Sole proprietorships have a limited life span tied to the owner's involvement. If the owner decides to retire, sell the business, or passes away, the sole proprietorship typically ceases to exist. This can make it difficult to transfer the business to others or secure its long-term continuity.
  5. Difficulty in Employee Recruitment: Sole proprietorships may face difficulties in attracting and retaining skilled employees, particularly when competing against larger businesses that offer more comprehensive benefits and career growth opportunities. The limited resources of sole proprietors often make it challenging to offer competitive compensation packages or invest in employee development programs.

2023.06.09 08:29 Mission-Honeydew-353 Sending a Global Money Transfer to myself in another country.

I have never done this before so I’m asking for advice and input. Normally, I would just withdraw from my cards but they are all blocked/not working for some reason. I have checked with my banks and they say they can’t see the attempt and the only way is to send me a new card but to my home country. My other bank (TD) is a nightmare to reach. (It might be helpful to add I’m a resident of Canada and a citizen of Philippines)
Simplii financial allows me to send money internationally whether that’s straight to another person’s bank account or cash pick up at money gram. This is how I’ve made most my payments if not online.
My question is, is it possible to set my name as the recipient even if I don’t live here in Thailand and go pick it up?

2023.06.09 07:57 A-terrible-time In my very specific use case, is it worth learning SAS?

I work as a data analyst for a major finance firm and I'm located in a metro where most of the big analytics employers are banks or related firms.
For this reason, many of these job postings and recruiting emails ask if I know SAS. I do not as ive spent my career and education thus far mostly working with SQL, tableau, and some R and python.
However, I keep getting this thought in the back of my mind that I should take a few of SAS's courses and maybe get certified because it could slot me into one of these niche analytics roles at a bank and possibly demand a higher salary because I fit that niche skillsets less and less people have.
I know the general advice is to not learn SAS and focus on python, but curious to others viewpoint.
