Stephen Smith Grand Jury Calling Witnesses, Reviewing Evidence Cold case heats up … by FITSNews
According to our sources, the grand jury has been meeting for several weeks and has already heard critical evidence related to this unsolved murder – including evidence which “conclusively proves” Smith was killed at the site where his body was found.
Forensic expert Kenneth Kinsey has reportedly confirmed this assessment based on a review of the graphic crime scene photos of Smith’s murder. Kinsey was hired to review the evidence in this case as part of an independent investigation launched by Bland’s law firm.
To recap: Smith’s body was discovered by a passing motorist (a tow truck driver) at approximately 4:00 a.m. EDT on July 8, 2015 in the middle of Sandy Run Road near Crocketville, S.C. Initially deemed gunshot wound – and later a vehicular hit-and-run – the investigation was originally handled by the S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) “Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team” (MAIT). It wasn’t until nearly six years later that it became an active murder case handled by SLED.
SLED opened a homicide investigation into Smith’s death shortly after the savage slayings of 52-year-old Maggie Murdaugh and 22-year-old Paul Murdaugh on June 7, 2021 at Moselle – a 1,700-acre hunting property straddling the Salkehatchie River which until recently belonged to the Murdaugh family.
Disbarred attorney Alex Murdaugh – a scion of this once-dominant legal dynasty – was convicted of those killings and sentenced to life in prison in March of this year.
What was the Murdaugh family’s connection to Smith’s death? It’s not immediately clear. According to 26-year-old Buster Murdaugh – who has been accused by many on social media of being involved in the crime – there is
no connection. “These baseless rumors of my involvement with Stephen and his death are false,” Murdaugh said in a statement released back in March. “I unequivocally deny any involvement in his death.”
Others close to this story – including Sandy Smith – believe otherwise. In fact, Smith wrote a letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the fall of 2016 detailing the Murdaugh family’s alleged involvement.
“Stephen had on more than one occasion mentioned to friends and his twin sister that he was involved romantically with someone from a prominent family in the county who was hiding his sexuality,” Smith wrote in her letter. “He said it would shock people to know this person was gay. We suspect this could be the young man Stephen was referring to, though he never named him.”
As this news outlet reported earlier this year, SLED is considering two persons of interest in connection with Smith’s death – 25-year-old Patrick Wilson and 25-year-old Shawn Connelly, both of Brunson, S.C.

Both Wilson and Connelly lived in the area near where Stephen Smith’s body was found … and there is information obtained by SLED investigators which has reportedly drawn a sharper focus on them as potential suspects. Several of these same leads were followed by producers and investigators associated with the Netflix documentary – as well as the initial legal team retained by Sandy Smith. In November of 2021, Charleston, S.C. attorney Andy Savage – who at the time was representing Smith’s family – gave an interview to WCIV TV-4 in which he indicated the Murdaughs were “unconnected” to Smith’s murder and any speculation related to their involvement was “unfounded.”
“There are suspects we have in sight that are unconnected to Murdaugh,” Savage told reporters Anne Emerson and Drew Tripp. “The focus any in the media have on Murdaugh may be unfounded.”
Sandy Smith recoiled at that revelation – and parted ways with Savage as her attorney shortly thereafter.
As previously reported by this news outlet, on December 18, 2015 – five months after Smith’s murder – SCHP investigators received a tip from Wilson’s self-described step-father, Darrell Williams of Varnville, S.C. According to Williams, Wilson informed him that Connelly – another Hampton County teenager – was driving a vehicle which “struck and killed Stephen Smith.”
Who told him to share this information? Randy Murdaugh – Alex Murdaugh’s older brother.
According to case notes contained in the MAIT report, Williams “stated that the reason he was passing this information on was because Randy Murdaugh told him to call.”
As I have often noted, the crime scene in this case is “a study in contradictions.”
“The location of Smith’s body in the middle of the road was totally inconsistent with a vehicular strike – but the massive blood loss observed on the asphalt seemed inconsistent with him being murdered at another location,” I noted in a recent report.

In fact, the grand jury is scheduled to reconvene next week to review evidence and hear testimony related to the murder of the 19-year-old from Hampton, S.C. In other words, it’s increasingly likely arrest warrants will eventually be issued in connection with this eight-year-old cold case – which gained international attention via its purported proximity to the **‘**Murdaugh Murders’ crime and corruption saga. Interest in the Smith case escalated even further after it was prominently featured in the hit Netflix documentary, ‘Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal.’ Confirmation of the grand jury’s empaneling should come as no surprise to those following the case. Two weeks ago, Lexington, S.C. attorney Eric Bland – one of the attorneys representing Smith’s mother, Sandy Smith – said he believed a grand jury had been empaneled based on his conversations with chief Mark Keel of the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED). “(Keel) told me subpoenas are being issued – as well as warrants – and I believe there is a grand jury empaneled,” Bland said during a May 25, 2023 panel discussion on CourtTV. So I've been thinking recently, and I realized that it'd be pretty cool to explore an aroace Tom Riddle. Since amortentia is a potion that induces romantic feelings, it seems more logical that Tom would have turned out to simply not have any romantic or sexual feelings instead of becoming the homicidal maniac that Voldemort canonically is.

2023.06.07 15:49 Ok-Temporary4466 Did they have Wendigo psychosis?
Some interesting reading from wiki-
Psychosis
In historical accounts of retroactively diagnosed Wendigo psychosis, it has been reported that humans became possessed by the wendigo spirit, after being in a situation of needing food and having no other choice besides cannibalism. In 1661,
The Jesuit Relations reported:
[23] What caused us greater concern was the news that met us upon entering the Lake, namely, that the men deputed by our Conductor for the purpose of summoning the Nations to the North Sea, and assigning them a rendezvous, where they were to await our coming, had met their death the previous Winter in a very strange manner. Those poor men (according to the report given us) were seized with an ailment unknown to us, but not very unusual among the people we were seeking. They are afflicted with neither lunacy, hypochondria, nor frenzy; but have a combination of all these species of disease, which affects their imaginations and causes them a more than canine hunger. This makes them so ravenous for human flesh that they pounce upon women, children, and even upon men, like veritable werewolves, and devour them voraciously, without being able to appease or glut their appetite—ever seeking fresh prey, and the more greedily the more they eat. This ailment attacked our deputies; and, as death is the sole remedy among those simple people for checking such acts of murder, they were slain in order to stay the course of their madness.
[24] Although in many recorded cases of Wendigo psychosis the individual has been killed to prevent cannibalism from resulting, some Cree folklore recommends treatment by ingestion of fatty animal meats or drinking animal grease; those treated may sometimes vomit ice as part of the curing process.
[25] One of the more famous cases of Wendigo psychosis reported involved a
Plains Cree trapper from
Alberta, named Swift Runner.
[26][27] During the winter of 1878, Swift Runner and his family were starving, and his eldest son died. Twenty-five miles away from emergency food supplies at a
Hudson's Bay Company post, Swift Runner butchered and ate his wife and five remaining children.
[28] Given that he resorted to cannibalism so near to food supplies, and that he killed and consumed the remains of all those present, it was revealed that Swift Runner's was not a case of pure cannibalism as a last resort to avoid starvation, but rather of a man with Wendigo psychosis.
[28] He eventually confessed and was executed by authorities at
Fort Saskatchewan.
[29] Another well-known case involving Wendigo psychosis was that of
Jack Fiddler, an
Oji-Cree chief and
medicine man known for his powers at defeating wendigos. In some cases, this entailed killing people with Wendigo psychosis. As a result, in 1907, Fiddler and his brother Joseph were arrested by the Canadian authorities for homicide. Jack committed suicide, but Joseph was tried and sentenced to life in prison. He ultimately was granted a pardon but died three days later in jail before receiving the news of this pardon.
[30] Fascination with Wendigo psychosis among Western
ethnographers,
psychologists, and
anthropologists led to a hotly debated controversy in the 1980s over the
historicity of this phenomenon. Some researchers argued that, essentially, Wendigo psychosis was a fabrication, the result of naïve anthropologists taking stories related to them at face value without observation.
[31][32] Others have pointed to a number of credible eyewitness accounts, both by Algonquians and others, as evidence that Wendigo psychosis was a factual historical phenomenon.
[33] The frequency of Wendigo psychosis cases decreased sharply in the 20th century as
Boreal Algonquian people came into greater and greater contact with European ideologies and more sedentary, less rural, lifestyles.
[5] In his 2004 treatise
Revenge of the Windigo on disorders and treatments of the behavioral health industry in the United States and Canada
that are peculiar to indigenous people,
James B. Waldram wrote,
[34] ...no actual cases of windigo psychosis have ever been studied, and Lou Marano's scathing critique in 1985 should have killed off the cannibal monster within the psychiatric annals. The windigo, however, continues to seek revenge for this attempted scholarly execution by periodically duping unsuspecting passers-by, like psychiatrists, into believing that windigo psychosis not only exists but that a psychiatrist could conceivably encounter a patient suffering from this disorder in his or her practice today! Windigo psychosis may well be the most perfect example of the construction of an Aboriginal mental disorder by the scholarly professions, and its persistence dramatically underscores how constructions of the Aboriginal by these professions have, like Frankenstein's monster, taken on a life of their own.
The 10th revision of the
International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD) classifies "Windigo" as a
culture-specific disorder, describing it as "Rare, historic accounts of cannibalistic obsession... Symptoms included depression, homicidal or suicidal thoughts, and a delusional, compulsive wish to eat human flesh... Some controversial new studies question the syndrome's legitimacy, claiming cases were actually a product of hostile accusations invented to justify the victim's ostracism or execution."
[35]
As a concept or metaphor
In addition to denoting a cannibalistic monster from certain traditional folklore, some Native Americans also understand the wendigo conceptually. As a concept, the wendigo can apply to any person, idea, or movement infected by a corrosive drive toward self-aggrandizing greed and excessive consumption, traits that sow disharmony and destruction if left unchecked.
Ojibwe scholar Brady DeSanti asserts that the wendigo "can be understood as a marker indicating... a person... imbalanced both internally and toward the larger community of human and spiritual beings around them."
[36] Out of equilibrium and estranged by their communities, individuals thought to be afflicted by the wendigo spirit unravel and destroy the ecological balance around them. Chippewa author
Louise Erdrich's novel
The Round House), winner of the
National Book Award, depicts a situation where an individual person becomes a wendigo. The novel describes its primary antagonist, a rapist whose violent crimes desecrate a sacred site, as a wendigo who must be killed because he threatens the reservation's safety.
In addition to characterizing individual people who exhibit destructive tendencies, the wendigo can also describe movements and events with similarly negative effects. According to Professor Chris Schedler, the figure of the wendigo represents "consuming forms of exclusion and assimilation" through which groups dominate other groups."
[37] This application allows Native Americans to describe colonialism and its agents as wendigos since the process of colonialism ejected natives from their land and threw the natural world out of balance. DeSanti points to the 1999 horror film
Ravenous) as an illustration of this argument equating "the cannibal monster" to "American colonialism and manifest destiny". This movie features a character who articulates that expansion brings displacement and destruction as side effects, explaining that "manifest destiny" and "western expansion" will bring "thousands of gold-hungry Americans... over the mountains in search of new lives... This country is seeking to be whole... Stretching out its arms... and consuming all it can. And we merely follow".
[38] As a concept, wendigo can apply to situations other than some Native American-European relations. It can serve as a metaphor explaining any pattern of domination by which groups subjugate and dominate or violently destroy and displace. Joe Lockhard, English professor at Arizona State University, argues that wendigos are agents of "social cannibalism" who know "no provincial or national borders; all human cultures have been visited by shape-shifting wendigos. Their visitations speak to the inseparability of human experience... National identity is irrelevant to this borderless horror."
[39] Lockhard's ideas explain that wendigos are an expression of a dark aspect of human nature: the drive toward greed, consumption, and disregard for other life in the pursuit of self-aggrandizement.
Romantic scholar and documentarian
Emily Zarka, also a professor at Arizona State University, observes that two commonalities among the indigenous cultures of
Algonquian language family speakers are that they are situated in climes where harsh winters are frequent and may be accompanied by starvation. She states that the wendigo symbolically represents three major concepts: it is the incarnation of winter, the embodiment of hunger, and the personification of selfishness.

2023.06.07 09:12 tav_1 here’s a cover i made of romantic homicide by d4vd!
2023.06.06 17:30 seperation_sadness How to move past separation for young married couple (20s)?
Hello everyone! I'm (20F) posting on behalf of my failed marriage mainly for advice moving on. I've pondered on posting to
Divorce yet we're planning on staying legally married for now as the residence benefits were taken into account.
They officially ended things with me this past SAT 6/3/23 when I mentioned that I feel disconnected and felt like I didn't know what the point of being in a relationship with someone if you're still going to feel lonely despite understanding they're alright with being alone for many hours, maybe even days, without talking to me or anyone else because that's what they feel like. Things ended that night and later (6/5/23) I've found out that they were having sexual role play and romantic conversations with others which led to a formation of a relationship later in the night where I felt homicidal, suicidal, etc and overall worthless alone for a bit.
What type of support I'm looking for Ideally people who've went through breakups including short-term and/or long-term separations including divorce and how you navigated that. I'm still navigating clicking on videos like 'manifest them back' and more yet I don't want to beg them to be into me life especially seeing as I've poured my heart out, cried, tried to talk more, etc.
Here were some of our recurring issues we had which spanned mental, emotional, financial, etc. Financial This spans their parents nagging us regarding money and now we're to a state of being able to pay them back and even help out as my father-in-law is in debt. I hate them for it. It didn't help for them to nag about money cause it not only made me feel stupid but doubtful of why I'm staying with a non-breading winning 'male' even though they brought more value into my life than money could ever dream of stating. We've stressed about money before and agreed on a 50/50 money share where me and them both receive a fixed-price weekly and the remainder goes to bills as the country we stay is pretty affordable and my rates accounting for the living costs and more as I'm the financial provider.
By principle I don't believe in coercive relationships and partially wanted financial independence for both of us cause I worried if they'd be here with the money as it felt like we changed as people.
I sometimes feel like I sold my soul for our survival and regret it not only for what it's done for my individually but interdependently to bring to the relationship as my anxiety and depression has worsened. I appreciate all that we've learned from each other.
Some things I've said recently during our relationship - Getting mutually counseling. They've said the bad outweighed the good in total spanning from being together to be separated now as each bad time and break up broke them bit by bit.
- Consistent care. I'd like to spend 2-4 hours daily just enjoying our time together which likely would be evening to night just unwinding.
- Radical realness. I'll admit I've sometimes made it an unsafe space to express emotions yet really appreciated when they just have a heart-to-heart with me explaining what they felt as I feel they bottle up emotions and experiences a lot.
Some things they've said recently during our of relationship Something about me is that I need to be told the sugarcoated truth about things and they've spoken to me as such cause reality will seem a bit more real if it's spoken like that.
- They said if they could they wouldn't live with me anymore and want to move to another country. They've even talked with their new 'girlfriend' about wanting to kiss, cuddle, move in, etc alongside generally wanting to be alone in their room and interacting with people whenever they want versus being around people as the default.
- They said that they're unsure if they have romantic capacity. They're surely burnt out with me yet want to rebuild that to connect with others in the future. Right now they're in the dating phase with someone they got with the day they officially ended things with me cause this person is 'nice' and they want to 'see where it goes' yet it wasn't 'preemptive cheating' because they were already out and disconnected from despite me explaining why it would be a betrayal to allow those connections to form in a monogamous setup.
- They want to be solo polyamorous. This fits them best as they'd like to have multiple, unlimited meaningful relationships in their life without artificial restrictions and conventions. I scarred them with my jealousy and controlling in the beginning regarding same-sex friendships and I regret it. I saw so much cheating that my dad did and I hated the sneakiness and that message was confirmed throughout despite getting over it after a few months of being together. They also mentioned needing to have someone close in their life and them needing to seek that out... and not feeling close with me for months besides snippets and not engaging in their hobbies. A previous breakup would be when they considered polyamory while LDR and broke up with me as that'd be a incompatibility towards wanting a more connected lifestyle with boundaries. I tried getting over them and they reached back out and we got back together cause it wasn't a need.
- They said 'get over me and get on with your life'. They have no emotional or mental attachment to us working out and would rather not think or talk about anything regarding our relationship in the past. I feel like a bad memory that she wants to forget as I kept asking questions towards the end when they were in the other room and they kept repeating 'let me go', 'I already said everything that needed to be said', 'you already know the answer', etc. I left the door frame cause they were so angry and they seemed done with me. We talked later today and we had a relatively civil conversation minus me letting my emotions spill out and taking jabs at their overall secrecy.
- They said it was stupid and 'one of their biggest regrets in life' to get back with me out of pity. This happened around 2 months ago when they broke up with me last despite me trying to cry in silence and not bother them and try to actually move on cause I felt unsure of how many heartbreaks I could go through.
- They missed the old me. I apparently was a bit sharper, playful, etc in the past and most recently they've sought people out like that to fill a void yet can't pour it back here. I'd also say I was prettier and happier as I had more home-cooked meals and less stress.
What we're feeling about the relationship - Some things they've said about us would be that 'we peaked last year', 'I don't think I can do (romantic) relationships anymore', 'I want to keep everyone in my life at a (platonic) friendship level', etc. I feel like I've ruined love for them and that hurts too because I not only knew and believed we had potential but want it to continue.
- I don't feel like I'm in the state to do much radical change cause I need to pick up the broken, bashed parts of me or else I'm just going to go into bad cycle of changing for a little bit or not ... fully understanding how to root-cause change and add more trauma to them.
Some notable points about where we're at in this relationships - Some things that still upset me would be that they don't greet me or sometimes lock their door at night which I don't understand. I've never done anything harmful to them while they're sleeping but did look at them a few days ago while they were sleeping because
- Talking to me minimally because I'm draining in the background. They've said they just can't do 'this' anymore and I assume that's just talking to me so I'm trying to keep conversation brief and basic.
What this relationship left me insecure about - Some things I'm left dealing with would be feeling like I'm unlovable. They were many things I admired and aspired to be like especially since I didn't have a stable male figure in my life. Their willingness to stand on their beliefs despite many like it will always be one of the top things that drew me to them despite it coming from a dark origin of their authority figures spanning teachers, parents, classmates etc either actively or passively allowing people to bully them. They also had a caring, compassionate view of allocating resources to people which fit well as they used to take care of their sister.
What type of attachment misalignment I'm going through here I know other people are out there yet I don't
want to love anyone else. They were special to me. Our history is still special to me as we're a former LDR couple. We were 'defeating the odds' and I'll always hate how we grew apart... what I played into it at least. Some things that scarred them would be our 2 physical fights (e.g. them slightly choking me and us mutually slapping each other) and countless other verbal fights.
I'm also dealing with the disappointing feelings I have in myself because I feel like I become a similar toxic version of my mother with all of the emotional instability and volatility. I know I haven't been keeping up with my mental health well besides just maintaining my states and not getting stressed. I honestly feel scared looking inside sometimes and after a bit I felt like, "I'm always needing to be improve something for you" and in the beginning it was shame-based yet felt like a memorable martyr in a sense cause I 'killed the go' for love despite it turning into rejection sensitivity and getting de-motivation cause I let myself double down.
THE POST SUMMARY TLDR; Young married individual currently navigating an unrequited separation with actionable tips to minimize dwelling or depression if possible amidst still living together.
I'd hope we can get marriage counseling but have decided one of the best ways to radically split is to bear the pain without the idea of 'hope' getting in the way cause you might feel safe and not do it for the best reasons including chasing someone's external validation over your needed internal victories.
Earlier today I told my father-in-law how I was feeling through a piece of paper and some of it was translated including the online secrecy with romantic and sexual conversations, ignoring me most of the day, feeling unsure about staying here, etc. He justified it if it wasn't physical cheating yet don't agree with that as that's something you discuss with your partner before.
I know all of this sounds like pretty much a lot and why am I even wanting to stay but whatever advice you can give I'm willing to hear it. Just try to be considerate despite feeling like this is a 'stop' sign.

2023.06.03 19:17 ByeLassMyLove Is the relationship between Dr. Charles and Dr. Reese too close?
In the 3 seasons that has her, her relationship with mentor Dr. Charles seems to cross boundaries into some murky area beyond working, romantic and family relationships. He appears to treat her as a daughter closer than his biological ones while she appears to see him as a father she has longed for. She repeatedly defies and confronts him, something not a few bosses in real life would tolerate.
When Dr. Reese suspects Dr. Charles of wanting her to leave and confronts him, Dr. Charles doesn't get angry. When Dr. Charles defends the patient shooting him as "legally insane" to get him off from jail, Dr. Reese defies him by testifying against the shooter. When Dr. Reese acts recklessly by inviting alone a homicidal patient into a room, the patient almost stabs her and she then has an argument with Dr. Charles. When Dr. Charles keeps giving out psychiatric diagnoses to help some patients avoid conviction, Dr. Reese yells at him for "enabling" criminals. At one instance she even pepper sprays an aggressive patient...none of these results in Dr. Charles dropping her.
The two are so close that it draws the ire of Dr. Reese's serial killer dad, who lies about Dr. Charles having "twisted paternal feelings" for her and blackmailing him, causing a street argument between Dr. Charles and Dr. Reese overheard by the head of the hospital. Her dad even yells at Dr. Charles to "GIVE IT UP"...It doesn't end well when their mystifying relationship ruptures and Dr. Reese resigns after seeing Dr. Charles hesitates to do CPR on her father having a heart attack.
Is the kind of relationship between Dr. Charles and Dr. Reese normal in medical setting? What would be the most accurate psychological concept to describe such kind of relationship?
Sorry if TL;DR

2023.06.01 18:19 akcoder123 nature vs nurture essay
Hello! 10th grade student in ontario. This essay is worth 30% percent of my grade and i want to do my best! Please tell me what you think and what you would rate it. I am writing this argumentatively using supportive opinion paragraphs made of subtopic-point-proof-analysis-conclusion method.
** I am worried abt grammar, use of semicolons, and the line "Nature versus nurture is an enduring debate dating back centuries, argued by many famous scientists and philosophers in history - notably Plato and Descartes, who believed that behavior was inbred and organic to human structure. Correspondingly, it can be argued that personalities cannot be inculcated in a person but are innate. " in particular.
Nature Versus Nurture
Nature versus nurture is a long-standing debate over the true determinant of how personality is formed and how the human mind works, with nature being the winning force, shaping the fabric of human disposition. In relation to this, the book And The Mountains Echoed, and the television shows Hannibal and Better Call Saul illustrate the following ideas: primal and intrinsic characteristics are unaffected by external influences; personalities cannot be inculcated in a person but are instead innate; people revert to their base instincts when pressed. These ideas prove that in the discussion of nature versus nurture, nature reigns supreme, wielding its power over the fundamental genetic traits that mold humanity and define the very essence of human existence.
To begin, primal intrinsic instincts are unaffected by external influences. Regardless of the strength of the influence or environment, a person’s true nature and hereditary traits will be impervious to change. A compelling example of this can be found in the television show Hannibal, whose title character is a brilliant psychiatrist and a cannibalistic psychopath (Hannibal). Hannibal began experiencing homicidal inclinations at a young age, indicating his nascent psychopathy, which fully manifested when he willfully ate his sister’s remains after her death ("Digestivo"). Despite later being adopted by his loving uncle, studying fine arts and medicine, and living the rest of his adolescence in the lap of luxury, Hannibal’s urges were ineffaceable, and he used his anatomical knowledge as a tool to kill and consume more people ("Oeuf"). Despite genuinely loving his sister and mourning her after her death, Hannibal could not deny himself his inherent psychopathic urges and consumed her. Though he eventually left his home to pursue his studies and escape growing suspicion from local authorities, changing careers from surgery to psychiatry and experiencing different environments, he remained unchanged and guiltlessly continued murdering and cannibalizing peers and strangers alike. Although Hannibal’s love for his sister was genuine and he was well cared for by his uncle, his surroundings and influences could not suppress his innate psychopathy and character, exemplifying the power that nature exerts over fundamental human traits.
Nature versus nurture is an enduring debate, argued by many famous scientists and philosophers in history - notably Plato and Descartes, who believed that behavior was inbred and organic to human structure. Correspondingly, it can be argued that personalities cannot be inculcated in a person but are innate. Human personalities are passed down through generations through genetics and are unshaken by outside pressures. This can be observed in the case of Pari in the novel And the Mountains Echoed. Pari was an Afghan-born girl who was adopted away from her village by a wealthy family and taken to France, all at a very young age (Hosseini 90). Pari’s adoptive mother was a rebellious, troubled, and romantic woman, as well as a talented poet; traits she tried to instill in Pari, who rejected the influence and grew into a humble and family-oriented individual, aligning with the characteristics also exhibited by her biological brother (Hosseini). Though Pari had no memory of her childhood in Afghanistan or of her birth family, she still developed personality traits similar to them due to their passing down through her genetic lineage, leading her to develop her identity and resist her adoptive mother’s attempts to alter it. Pari’s experience supports the claim that personalities resist external influences because they are formed from inherent and natural traits, which hold the most power over the formation of human temperament.
Finally, people revert to their base instincts when pressed. An individual’s base characteristics and natural traits will present themselves in moments of stress or when making snap decisions, often overriding learned behaviors and other external factors and influences. Jimmy "Slippin’ Jimmy" McGill, from Better Call Saul, is a perfect example of this: a clever scam artist turned corrupt criminal lawyer. Jimmy strived to be a law-abiding citizen and uphold a moral code (Better Call Saul) but often manipulated courts, clients, and evidence if he felt it necessary, resorting to immoral schemes and deception when pressed, as he learned to do during his time as a con artist ("Fall"). Jimmy’s instinctual responses to challenging situations voided his attempts to improve himself, instead proving his unchangeability to his loved ones, who correctly believed he could not overcome his nature. Jimmy’s inability to truly alter his innate instincts demonstrates the sheer strength of nature.
As evidenced in Hannibal’s, Pari’s, and Jimmy’s experiences, base characteristics are unaffected and unsuppressed by external influences, as are personalities, and these fundamental character traits always rise to the surface in a person when pressed, thereby proving that nature, thanks to its power over the underlying genetic features that shape people, overpowers external factors and reigns triumphant in the age-old debate between nature and nurture. Humanity is formed by the hands of nature, with biological factors predominantly molding human disposition and the way the human mind functions.

2023.05.31 07:36 SleepCityStreets My sister dates horrible people and my family is sick of being put in danger
I keep trying to post this in an advice group on FB, but it's taking 5 years to be accepted, so I've copied and pasted it here
!!!! trigger warning for mentions of possible mürder, d3ath threats, and domestic violence!!!!!!!!!
My sister keeps dating horrible people and putting herself and our whole family in danger. She has massive trauma she isn't getting help for, so she jumps from one abusive relationship to the next. Her last fiance was a violent, homicidal felon, who got in a gun fight with his own dad, b3at a guy akmost to d3ath before throwing him out a window, threatened our lives in great detail many times and much much more. She got engaged to him AFTER he held her hostage with a knife. Also bought her own ring and told everyone he bought it. Luckily, he dumped her and moved away. Finally, crisis averted... except not!
Now she's engaged to a man who's somehow 10x worse! He moved in the first week they met, changed his adress without permission, and just never left! He doesn't pay bills. He's been pretending to have a job the entire time.
He's been stealing from her and my brother the entire time, chearing on her, going through her phone, blocking people, contacting people, tells her who she can talk to, wont let her go places without him, won't let her get a job. One second, she's miserable and wants him gone, literally 5 minutes later she's on fb telling people how lucky she is to have found such an amazing guy. 🙄
When His wife (yup, wife) warned my sister about a slew of stuff, including b3ating her up, he convinced her she did it to herself and then found reason after reason to call the cops on his wife all month long. He even tried framing her for aszault and gave the cops my number, thinking I'd lie for him after meeting him 5 times!!!!
Within 3 weeks, he successfully took over my sisters life and isolated her from friends. She was almost immediately a shell of herself.
He offered to adopt her son on their one month anniversary and was mad when she went on BC because he was obviously trying to entrap her with a baby.
They've been dating almost 4 months. His divorce isn't even final until August. His wife got stuck with over 18k in fines because everything was conveniently in her name. He had the woman he was cheating on her with take money from her 401k to pay his initial divorce fees and then left her for my sister who has more money and is an easier target.
I am absolutely convinced he has my siblings home and vehicles bugged with recording devices and GPS. He's already told me he likes to secretly record people with his phone in his shirt pocket, and just yesterday, he put his wife on hold so he could secretly record their conversation.
Every time she's about to dump him, he knows and does some lame gesture. First, it was flowers, changing his cover photo to her, being overly nice to her son, and stuff like that. Then he moved his son in so she'd feel too guilty. When that didn't work, he had a lame birthday party for her, and when we got home, the stove had stuff melting directly on the burner. He tried blaming the kids but never said anything to them, as if he'd miss an opportunity to fly off the handle at them. Then he tried blaming my sister. 5 days later, the outlet on the porch just happened to catch on fire!
It's been nothing but red flags and one coincidence after another since he came around. Someone tried breaking into the house the first night he took her out of state. Our van tire went flat a week after we caught him with his ex. He was thrown out of a bar for harassing my mom, came back alone, parked by her truck for 3 minutes, doing God knows what... 4 days later, her tire almost flies off on the highway because her lugnuts were severely loosened. He found out someone was talking talking to his wife and must've wrongfully assumed it was my mom, because she told me last night she thought she saw him creeping by her house, then today her truck randomly breaks down on the side of the road. Now she missed work and might be fired. He was also creeping around the parking lot of where my bf was today, probably hoping for an opportunity to sabotage his motorcycle.
Anyways, my sister was gonna dump him a couple days ago and not even 24 hours later, he proposed with our late grandmas ring that he stole out of her lockbox over a month ago, as some "grand, romantic gesture", but really it's because he has fines hes expecting her to pay to avoid jail, and no money for a ring because he's lying about having a job!
Me and my brother were furious she said yes and left some not so nice comments on their engagement post. He saw and threatened to b3at up my brother the night they were engaged, so I'm sure my revenge will arrive shortly.
I could go on for an hour, but that was the highlight reel.
My question is, do me and my brother continue trying to help her out of this abusive relationship and risk his revenge? (even though she'll likely find someone even worse soon) or do we bow out and let him ruin her entire life for years and years like he's doing to his wife? We are both mentally exhausted from dealing with her poor decisions the last 3 years. We feel it's our duty to help her, but it's not fair that our family is being put in danger because she's so ridiculous. Idk what to do anymore and feel like I'm going to end up snapping on her in the very near future.
I have been documenting everything. I don't know if I should go to the police until I have absolute proof, but I'm scared that's going to escalate him, or the proof I finally get is gonna be reprehensible. I thought about hiring a private investigator, but i don't have money for that.
Also, after writing this, his wife told me he pinned her between 2 cars on their wedding night and also put her through a closet door because McDonald's got their order wrong. And also he put sugar in his ex gfs lawnmower, so that's probably what happened to my moms truck, and she hardly even did anything to him. This dude is unhinged and needs to go!!!!!

2023.05.29 06:28 Born_Adeptness_4357 why am I so sad
I am 15, I'm spoiled and I have everything I could ever want, but I'm so damn lonely, I don't know why but every night I find myself staring at the ceiling listening to romantic homicide for hours, the only thing I want is someone to love me, I don't have much friends, I'm not even that introverted, It's just that I see all the people around me at school hugging and kissing, and telling each other that they love them, I want that, I know people are just gonna say I'm too young or being dramatic. That's it, I have no other excuses for being sad, why am I so fucking sad.

2023.05.28 21:56 DemolitionMatter Not only not all men are bad towards women, but only a low minority of men are a threat and they aren't regular men. Here's the evidence:
You often hear feminists use the analogy of treating all ticks with suspicion even if many won't have lyme disease or avoiding Russian Roulette because of the 1 in 6 chance of death as a justification for treating men with suspicion and why it's wrong to say "not all men". They all like to say "enough men are like this for us to fear men and you can't know which men will hurt you". Uh, actually you can get some clues on which men are dangerous. Here are some facts you should know, divided by section for all the lazy TL;DR demanders.
Women don't have a constant fear all the time of being raped and murdered. This is a big myth spread by feminists. In fact, according to
Gallup, since 2000, the percentage of women who occasionally or frequently worry about being raped ranged from 29 to 38%, with the average being 33%. This includes women who worry just occasionally, yet not frequently. 29% of women and 33% of women rarely and never worried about being raped, respectively, which ultimately leads to 62% rarely or never worrying. Younger women were more likely to at least occasionally worry about it (an average of 38%) compared to women over age 50 (26%). Many women do not worry at least occasionally about it, but the ones who do probably only worry just occasionally.
The vast majority of Americans don't worry even occasionally about being murdered, and ones who do usually worry only occasionally. They rarely worry often about it.
In fact, 80% of women rarely or never worry about being murdered, and if they do, it's probably occasional rather than often.
Men fear being victims of crime just as much, if not more than women. Women just admit it more. Many self-report surveys will show that women fear being victims of crime or walking out at night more than men, but this is only self-report.
Experimental studies found that actually, men are just as likely, if not more likely than women to fear being victims of crime. Women are just more likely to admit it because men are taught to be brave. Men often downplay their fear of crime, and women, in fact, might exaggerate how afraid they are of crime due to social desirability biases pertaining to gender norms. One
study found that among university students, men were less likely to fear crime than women regardless of social desirability but among the community sample over people past age 21, men feared crime more than women when controlling for social desirability. This is because adolescent guys often believe in the personal fable mindset, where they believe they're invulnerable to risks in their environment, which men might still believe in during their late teens/early 20s, but outgrow after age 21 when they're more realistic, especially given that realistically speaking, men are more likely than women to be crime victims. Men admittedly didn't fear being sexually assaulted regardless of social desirability responding, but it's only because everyone thinks only women are sexually assaulted, even though, believe it or not,
women rape men just as much as men rape women.
Yeah, maybe men take less precautions, which could make them fear being crime victims more because they could feel more exposed to it, but if men do take less precautions, then it's probably simply because people teach men to be a man and face his fears. If men don't fear female criminals in particular, it's probably because they're taught that women are never violent or that all rape or domestic violence is man-against-woman.
Most male criminals usually harm men. A lot of
statistics have shown that men are more likely to be victims of crime, and
most strangestreet crime victims are men.
In fact, the vast majority of female crime victims,
including rape victims, are victimized by someone they know, and aside from most murder victims being men, male murder victims are killed by a stranger far more than female murder victims. Additionally, women actually do commit crime more than people think, and represent a large minority of criminals, but the reason why the vast majority of criminals are found to be men is because men get caught more, and police arrest male criminals more and the criminal justice system treats them more harshly.
Moreover, most male criminals commit crimes against men, and most female criminals victimize women. Interpersonal crimes, such as sexual assault, domestic abuse and child abuse, are exceptions to this rule. Furthermore, many men who commit violence against women also have committed violence against men. For example,
wife killers were found to be generally criminals,
male intimate partner violence offenders often have engaged in violence against other men, especially perpetrators of severe intimate partner violence, and
even sexually violent men such as rapists were found to be generally aggressive people.
And the reason why men are victims of crime more isn't because women avoid walking out at night, and in fact, there's not enough evidence that women walk out less than men and many women often do.
Female criminals are more common than people think, and they are the ones who harm women more. As mentioned earlier, a large minority of criminals are women, but because police refuse to arrest reported female criminals and because the criminal justice system goes easier on women, that's why we hear more about male criminals. Additionally, it could be people won't admit in surveys their perpetrator was a woman, let alone report a female criminal to police. Self-report perpetration surveys show how common female criminals are. Women raping men was found to be as common as men raping women. A considerable percentage of child molesters are actually women, and intimate partner violence was found to be a gender symmetrical crime, and female domestic abusers were not usually responding in self-defense. Women killing husbands was found to be more common than statistics show, with female killers being more able to get away with it due to use of sneakier methods and the fact that cops don't suspect women, and contrary to popular belief, most husband killers weren't responding to abuse. This linked
post of mine elaborates further on it with citations.
As mentioned earlier, most of these women, with the exception of interpersonal violence crimes, commit crimes against women whereas male criminals usually harm men (and even most men who harm women have also committed crimes against men).
In fact, women were found to be bullied and harassed by other women than by men.
Many male criminals, especially street criminals, refuse to harm women. Here's a big reason why men are more likely to be victims of crime or harmed in the streets. Typically, many violent men spare women, especially when it comes to crimes like street robbery.
Additionally, many male street criminals refuse to attack women. In fact, many even said in street crime culture, there's a huge rule against it, particularly for male criminals. Even when robbing a couple, they often rob the man but spare the woman, but will attack everyone if they attack several men. They believe it's manly to attack other men and steal their resources because it reflects hunter-gatherer behavior. A male street criminal loses his reputation among his fellow criminals if he attacks a woman. Also, many male robbers believe women won't have drugs or money on them. In prison, although in many prisons especially nowadays, inmates might let it slide if you're only in there for an assault charge against your significant other (especially if it's a misdemeanor),
inmates will be mad if you're in there for attacking a female stranger or a woman in the streets.
A minuscule percentage of men comprise the majority of violent crime, and the low minority of men who are violent aren't ordinary men. In a population-based study of over 2 million Swedish men, they found that 3.9% had at least one violent crime conviction (Nonetheless, most violent criminals don't get arrested). However, 1% of these 2 million men were persistently violent criminals who comprised 63% of violent crimes, including 59.5% of aggravated violent crimes. They comprised 26% of offenders. They were admittedly over 90% men, but not normal men. They were usually young men often in their teens/early 20s, often had a major mental disorder and sometimes substance use disorders, and psychiatric inpatient disorders.
Another study found that the most persistently violent or sociopathic men were far more likely to have engaged in partner abuse in the past year (24%), and were far more likely to be the father of multiple children, often by impregnating many women. Compared with offenders who only were criminals as adolescents (AL=adolescent limited), these persistent criminals comprised 43% of violent crime convictions (and AL offenders comprised another 43% of violent crimes), 40% of drug convictions (and AL offenders comprised 48% of drug convictions), 28% of property crimes (AL offenders comprised 50% of property crimes), and 37% of court order convictions (with AL offenders comprising 49% of court order convictions). Nonetheless, they were the top 10% most sociopathic men. This top 10% most violent men also comprised 62% of violent crime convictions against women. These men also were disproportionately unemployed, impregnated many women, and were more likely to have antisocial personality disorder or to have abused cannabis.
Men who commit violence against women in particular aren't ordinary men. When looking at rapists, they found that although it's not unusual for them to have more than one victim, they usually don't even have 3 victims, and usually not more than 3 or even 5.
As a guy who has read a lot about rapists, I can tell you they aren't ordinary men. They were found to be highly promiscuous men who have far more consensual sex partners than most men, more dating partners, and often date and lose their virginity earlier than most men start. They tend to be generally aggressive people, are often narcissistic or insecure, have more psychopathic or antisocial traits (remember being antisocial doesn't mean asocial, contrary to popular belief), believe that any woman who even talks to them is interested in them, often pursue women very frequently for dates, believe in rigid macho stereotypes about what real men are supposed to act like, often try very hard to be as macho as possible, are hypersensitive to rejection, and, despite being far more experienced than most men, are dissatisfied with their level of dating success or perceive themselves as unsuccessful with women, often due to their unrealistically high expectations about how many partners they should have or how infrequently they should get rejected in dating. They often come from hypermasculine peer groups that put peer pressure on them to have sex.
When even looking at hostilely sexist men, they found these men, contrary to the Internet's virgin incel stereotype, weren't a bunch of virgin guys, but were often hypermasculine, promiscuous men who often were in fraternities or played aggressive sports, preferred casual sex over romantic relationships, rejected emotional intimacy, and were more likely to have had sex with hookers or to have watched pornography.
Even when looking at male domestic abusers, they weren't even ordinary men. Many wife killers often had criminal records and were generally criminals, and
even many male domestic abusers have criminal records, including many with violent crime convictions from the past.
Many male domestic abusers and even female domestic abusers often had engaged in physically abusive delinquency, and studies even found a link between school bullying perpetration and intimate partner violence offending. In fact, contrary to what the media shows, most intimate partner violence is not a man beating his girlfriend viciously each day. It's usually two young adults in an unmarried relationship mutually hitting each other with mild to usually no injuries and in many cases, the relationship is usually a good relationship with an occasional reciprocal slap. It's not usually particularly violent or one-sided.
When looking at three types of male batterers, they looked at ones who were violent towards people in general (generally violent offenders), ones who were only violent towards their wife (family only offenders), and psychopathologic offenders. Typically, the generally violent offenders engaged in severe domestic violence. These guys had low self esteem, had criminal records, a history of drunk driving and crime, were violent towards other men and even non-intimate women, had sexist attitudes towards women, suffered childhood abuse, lacked emotional intimacy, and had many other issues.
Family only offenders typically were the most common type of domestic abuser, and they typically had liberal attitudes towards women, were the most remorseful, had usually good relationships with their wife, and were not particularly violent in the relationship. They usually were ordinary men who ended up being violent temporarily and were easy to rehabilitate, and they rarely inflicted injuries and often were usually well-behaved men. There's also psychopathologic offenders who often had schizotypal or borderline personality disorders or other mental health issues. The severe domestic abusers the media overemphasizes aren't ordinary men. In fact, while some men have engaged in intimate partner violence, domestic abuse is usually mutually violent, and in non-reciprocal cases,
women are the aggressors up to 70% of the time. It's simple: not many men have engaged in serious domestic abuse. Most domestic abuse is situational, and not long-term, and it usually involved two people who usually get along mutually hitting each other with mild to no injuries.
Women are not harmed, raped or abused as much as feminists say. This
post of mine shows how many statistics on how many women are raped, molested, abused, victimized, etc. are exaggerated, and how a low percentage of women are raped or victims of serious domestic violence, and the vast majority live safe lives.
This is no different from portraying black men as potential criminals. Another thing that should be addressed: while men are 1.55x more likely to commit property crime, blacks are 1.75x more likely to commit property crime, and Native Americans are 1.09x more likely to commit property crime. Also, while men are 3.91x more likely to commit violent crime, blacks are 3.27x more likely to commit violent crime and Natives are 4.2x more likely to commit violent crime. Being black increased the likelihood of committing property crime more than being male and being Native American increased the likelihood of committing violent crime more than being male. Just remember that blacks are 13% of the population and Natives are 2% of the population, whereas men are half the population, so that's we don't see the vast majority of criminals being black or Native American, but they are overrepresented. In fact, according to
Bureau of Justice Statistics, blacks are more likely to commit crime. Natives were listed under "other", including multiracial people and Pacific IslandeNative Hawaiians, but "other" people were also more likely to commit crime but not the extent of black people, possibly due to inclusion of multiracial people and Pacific IslandeNative Hawaiians in the statistic. So why should we scapegoat men for crime when most men don't particularly commit crime when it's seen as racist to portray blacks as potential criminals for the same reason when most blacks don't particularly commit crime?
Remember this: black people might be affected more by police brutality, but almost all police homicide victims are men, and men are far more likely than women to be affected by police brutality, and white men are affected by it far more than black women.
Conclusion The vast majority of women are not going to be raped or victims of serious domestic violence or suffer traumatic child abuse. It's not just that not all men are a threat to women, but a very minuscule percent of men comprise the majority of violence against men and women, and men who do harm men or women are very different from the general population of men, and thus are not particularly hard to distinguish from ordinary men. This tendency for feminists to say we need to be suspicious towards all men because there's enough men who are a threat and who equate it with how not all ticks have lyme disease are making invalid arguments. There's not enough evidence that only a low percent of ticks have the disease, and you can't distinguish ticks from another, and some criminals are women, and female criminals are the ones who target women, whereas male criminals usually harm men, not women.
It's time to realize that the vast majority of men can be trusted by women, and it isn't completely hard to distinguish them from violent men, and the vast majority of women aren't going to be raped or abused. Treating men as potential criminals is no different from treating people of a certain race as potential criminals.

2023.05.23 21:26 Distinct-Current-464 I have an idea for chapter/fanfic
The action takes place some time after the current date. Chisa and Iori started dating after the latter almost drowned and the first one saved him by pumping from lip to lip, but they decided to keep it a secret (Chisa because of embarrassment, Iori because of the homicidal classmates). The PkB club found out that Shiori's birthday is coming soon, so the whole gang decides to go to the Kitahars' hotel (+ Chisa and Nanaki's parents also found free time). Everyone is looking forward to how they will celebrate, and Iori quietly agrees smiling. Chisa notices that deep inside he is not cheerful and rummaging in his memory, remembers that Iori and Shiori have the same birthday, but everyone forgot about the guy. Chisa wanted to inform the others about this, but Iori stopped her.
That evening, during a party in honor of Shiori, Iori quietly leaves the hotel for the city, and Chisa also quietly rushes after him. They got to talking and decided to take a walk around the stalls, fortunately there was a small festival. They have fun together. On a romantic bridge, Iori tells Chisa that this birthday was the best in his life thanks to her and the girl kisses him. A few seconds later, their kiss becomes more passionate...
Meanwhile, the hotel notices the disappearance of these two and after a few minutes it comes to everyone that they forgot about Iori's birthday (except Shiori, she remembered, but did not say). Azusa decides to make a surprise party for Iori...
Iori and Chisa enter his big room hugging and kissing, not bothering to turn on the light (Chisa is shy). They lie down on the sofa/bed. The couple compliments each other and mutually deprive each other of their virginity. After sex, they lie embracing and Chisa says that she is glad that they have a relationship now, and Iori agrees that hiding these relationships adds passion. Chisa wanted to drink, but it was dark in the room, so Iori decided to impress her and hit the switch with a well-aimed slipper. The light turned on and the couple sees that their whole family and the PcB club are standing in the room holding a poster "Happy birthday, Iori!"
