2023.05.29 03:25 nghiatrieu Reigning world champion in big trouble in PGC race

With missing out on The Rotation's GF, top 5 in EMEA PGC currently will have a big lead over NAVI after The Rotation, not to mention the likes of Twisted Minds and BBL are very much likely gonna pass NAVI, too. Of course NAVI still have enough tournaments to gain points with PGS2 qualifier and PEC Fall (or try to win PGS2) but currently they are in big trouble.

2023.05.29 03:23 BluePotatoSlayer Why do people consider several super bowls / championships in a short span required for a dynasty?

People say 2 to 3 Super Bowls in less than 5 year span is required to be a dynasty.
But a dynasty is prolonged success. Not a short burst of it. If you win several championships in few years you have a assembled a strong team, but if they team no longer regresses or leaves in free agency, if the team can’t find new players to sustain success, then its not a dynasty.
Spread out super bowl wins over a 7-13 year span, with consistent winning seasons and deep playoff runs would show a team can consistently win even with turnover at coaching or roster

2023.05.29 03:15 ope-shoot-darn LA Taco Tour Recap

Hi, a friend and I went on a little taco tour of LA, and I felt like sharing. Enoy!
  1. Sanoratown (Pico)
    1. Taco 1: Carne Asada
    2. Taco 2: Cabesa
    3. Review: The flour tortillas were good, and the Cabesa hit the spot. Nothing extraordinary, but gosh they were really solid tacos.
  2. Cielito Lindo
    1. Taco 1: Beef Taquito in Famous Sauce
    2. Taco 2: Beef Taquito in Famous Sauce
    3. Review: The supreme taquito spot on Olivera street downtown will make you forget your anywhere near downtown. The taquitos were a perfect blend of a softness to crunch, that only a deep fried tortilla can provide, but the real take away should be that the famous sauce. I was upset I didn't grab a spoon, as the fork took too many scoops to get my fill of the sauce after the taquitos were demolished.
  3. Holbox
    1. Taco 1: Smoked Kanpachi Taco
    2. Taco 2: Baja Fish Taco
    3. Taco 3: Taco de Pulpo en su Tinta
    4. Taco 4: Scallop Taco
    5. Review: Holbox is a Michelin recommended in the Mercado La Paloma just south of the 10/110 interchange that should be visited as soon as possible. The Rockfish taco will be remembered as my favorite fish tacos I have ever had the pleasure to eat (so far). The Scallop and the Octopus tacos were so much fun, a perfect blend of exciting proteins, bright flavors and accessibility. Holbox is a star, and I can’t wait to bring my girl here, she will love it.
  4. New Age Dispensary
    1. Strain 1: Mac 1
    2. Strain 2: White Quest
    3. Review: This dispensary grows some of the best weed in Los Angeles. A friend recently introduced me to their product, and ever since I have been ringing it's praise to anyone who will listen. Get a Cup of Ganja of whatever strain suits your fancy or the budtender recommends, and soon you’ll be enjoying a clean, clear high fitting for any occasion.
  5. Tacos Indiana
    1. Taco 1: Carne Asade
    2. Taco 2: Al Pastor
    3. Review: This spot was visited by Bourdain with his Parts Unknown series, and I am grateful he showed the world this palace. The unbelievably good Al Pastor taco a la plancha that will change your life for the better or worse, it's impossible to say. If pork doesn't tickle your taste buds don’t fret, they have you covered with a carne asada that will exceed any expectations you have. I was trying to explain LA taco culture to my midwest mother, looking back I should have saved my breath and taken her to Tacos Indiana.
  6. Tacos La Güera (Soto)
    1. Taco 1: Al Pastor
    2. Taco 2: Carnitas
    3. Review: Tacos La Güera commands your attention when you walk up. From the trumpo topped with a roasting pineapple to the carnitas cooking over the open flame to the splendid spread of salsa, your attention never stood a chance. The Al Pastor has smokiness that reminds you of the first time you had real good BBQ, and the Carnitas could not have been a better contrast with a butter melt in your mouth only a seasoned veteran can master.
  7. Unknown (Alverado and 8th, SW corner)
    1. Taco 1: Al Pastor
    2. Taco 2: Al Pastor
    3. Review: On our way back, my co-pilot and I wanted to do an experiment. The experiment was to stop at an unresearched taco vendor, and see if it pays to step off the beaten path. The parameters were 1. On the way to Koreatown 2. Have a trumpo 3. Have at least three patrons eating there. We found our subject across from Langer’s Deli in one of the more intimidating neighborhoods in LA, and my nerves peaked when I saw store bought tortillas. As soon as order was placed, those tortillas were dipped into a bubblin cauldron of carnitas, and slapped on the flat iron and then topped with absolutely lovely seasoned pork. We both concluded that, yes you should go somewhere without a name, in a place where you aren't comfortable and see if they can make your day better with some food that neighbors share on street corners.
Mt Rushmore:
Washington: Holbox’s Baja Fish Taco
Jefferson: Holbox’s Taco de Pulpo en su Tinta
Roosevelt: Tacos Indiana’s Al Pastor
Lincoln: Unknown’s Al Pastor

2023.05.29 03:13 DragonSlayer271 Some data charts I've compiled and stats!

Some data charts I've compiled and stats!
Note: This has absolutely nothing to do with tactics or players, solely the score lines of each game and the table positions. So don't expect anything about individuals here.

Season Overview

Points each team got over the season
The rough start we had at the start of the season really did affect our momentum a lot, and the few hiccups with Wolves, Brighton, and Bournemouth later in the season greatly damaged our top 4 chances. However, our insane run at the end of the season was very apparent while teams like Spurs flattened out.
Places over the season
Liverpool after the first few weeks never sank below 10th, while Chelsea's slide down the table after October is very obvious here. Spurs were in the top 4 up until April and fell away after Conte got sacked.
Liverpool were also never at any point in the season in the top 4 places. However, everyone else in the Big Six were. Man United spent 8 days at the bottom of the table, which is 8 more than Liverpool.
Sorry if any of the colors are confusing, it's pretty hard to fit 20 teams with unique colors when they're all blue or red
Days in each position
Random trivia:
Aston Villa was never in 10th place at the end of any day despite being in 19th and 5th at one point.
Wolves and Notts Forest spent over a month (albeit Wolves was because of the World Cup) at the bottom of the table and managed to survive.
Chelsea was always between 4th and 12th, and ended up in 12th.
Brighton spent 0 days in the bottom half, same goes for Arsenal (Though Man City and Spurs were only there because of alphabetical order on the first two days).
Spurs was at the top of the table after the first matchday for an entire week.
It's safe to say that Arsenal definitely bottled the league after being on top for 248 days, and Man City only had 42 days. Not even a month and a half.

FiveThirtyEight

FiveThirtyEight really tried to believe in us when it came to the Top 4 race though, even when we didn't. However, they really didn't believe in Arsenal for the title until January. Also, Man United was never in a title race, since they never even got above a 5% chance to win the league.
Arsenal bottled it. Although they were only favorites for a little over 2 months.
Liverpool kept fighting until the end.
Crazy how much things changed over the season.
The last time Liverpool were predicted to get top 4 was right after 7-0, but losing to Bournemouth really hurt us.
Newcastle overachieved this season, from their prediction of 13th to 4th, an underestimate of 9 places. Crazy what oil money does to a club. Fulham also impressed, from a prediction of 18th to 10th, up 8.
Chelsea and Leicester went from 3rd and 9th to 12th and 18th, an overestimate of 9 places. Serves them right though.
Liverpool went down 3 places, Man United went up 3 places. Arsenal went 3 up, City stayed the same (obviously), and Spurs went down by 4.
Forest was predicted to be at the bottom for the longest time before Southampton, but escaped at the end. Bournemouth was also close as well.
And finally, here's a chart of every game we played chronologically for our wins, draws, and losses.
Rip Southampton (the black bars mark the manager leaving or getting sacked)
So, good news. We never lost 3 games in a row. Bad news, we went on several winless streaks of 3/4 games throughout the season. But after the Man City game, we were unbeaten for the rest of the season.
Man City had the longest winning streak after drawing with Nottingham Forest to take the title away from Arsenal up until they beat Chelsea and drew with Brighton after.
Newcastle had the longest unbeaten streak, starting from after we beat them up until we beat them. So we can be proud of ourselves for managing to do the double over Newcastle, no one else did that.
Brentford did do the double over Man City though this season. But no one did the double over us! :)
Southampton had the worst winless run, with 13 matches since they beat Leicester City, and both Southampton and Leicester City had the worst losing streak with 6 games.
We won 19 games, drew 10 times, and lost against 9 teams.
I don't really have too much of a point to share with these charts beyond "we can do better", but thought it would be good to share with you guys. Let's get this summer transfer window all set, and fire up again for next season!
Pray that FSG back Jurgen Klopp as well, he'll lead us to glory with the right tools!

2023.05.29 03:10 Draconiondevil The Goddess of Doom: Saint Vitus

This is a new bi-weekly feature we will be running on the sub to highlight each of the bands mentioned in the song The Goddess of Doom by Reverend Bizarre. These threads will serve for those new to true doom to learn about its most important bands and for seasoned listeners to worship at the altar of true doom.
This week's band is the legendary Saint Vitus, and while this post originally started off as a place to worship this great band, in light of original bassist Mark Adams' passing this post will also be the subreddit's tribute to him.
BIO:
Hailing from Los Angeles California, USA, Saint Vitus are pioneers of doom metal. Originally formed in 1978 under the name Tyrant with Scott Reagers on vocals, Dave Chandler on guitars, Mark Adams (RIP) on bass and Armando Acosta (RIP) on drums, they would go on to change their name to Saint Vitus (after the Black Sabbath song, St. Vitus Dance from Vol. IV) in 1981.
Unlike their contemporaries and bands who followed them, Saint Vitus had a punk influence and were friends with local punk bands, particularly Black Flag. This led to them making a name for themselves touring with and opening for Black Flag and leading to their signing to SST Records, which was better known as a punk label. In 1984 they released their first, self-titled, album on SST Records.
After their second album, Hallow's Victim (1985), singer Scott Reagers left the band and was replaced by Scott "Wino" Weinrich, at the suggestion of Reagers. This lineup would go on to make the band's highly lauded Born Too Late (1986). The Wino, Chandler, Adams and Acosta lineup did two more albums, 1988's Mournful Cries and 1990's V before Wino would leave the group to reform his old band, The Obsessed (more on them another time).
At this point, Saint Vitus were looking for another new singer. While Messiah Marcolin of Candlemass fame and Chritus Linderson of Count Raven were both available and initially interested, the former having recently left Candlemass and the latter about to leave Count Raven in order to join Penance, it was Linderson who ultimately ended up replacing Wino on vocals. The resulting album, 1992's C.O.D. (Children of Doom), is the most different album in the Vitus catalogue. While all of Saint Vitus's previous albums had been under 40 minutes, with several of them even under 35, C.O.D. was over an hour long and contained 12 tracks. After the album and its subsequent tour, Linderson would go on to leave the group. He is now well known for being the singer in Kimi Kärki's post-Reverend Bizarre band, Lord Vicar.
With Linderson gone, the band broke up. However, the split didn't last long and original singer Scott Reagers was once again at the helm. The album that followed, Die Healing (1995), was to be the final Saint Vitus album and it was for over 15 years. The band ceased all activity in 1995 and, besides some reunion shows in 2003, remained dormant until 2008 when they reformed, again with Wino on vocals and Henry Vazquez on drums, replacing original drummer Armando Acosta. Acosta would sadly pass away at the age of 58 in 2010. The album that followed, 2012's Lillie: F-65, apparently a reference to a drug that Dave Chandler used to do back in the day, featured 7 new tracks of classic Vitus-style doom. After touring on the album and riding the wave of reunion hype, Wino left once again to focus on The Obsessed (again, more on them soon enough) and original bassist Mark Adams left the band as he was suffering from Parkinson's, being replaced by Pat Bruders (Down, ex-Crowbar, ex-Goatwhore).
Who better to replace Wino for the second time but Scott Reagers, now in his third stint in Saint Vitus. The most recent Saint Vitus album as of the writing of this post is simply titled Saint Vitus (yes, another self-titled record) out in 2019 on Season of Mist records. The album features more classic-sounding Vitus tracks like 12 Years in the Tomb, more upbeat numbers like Bloodshed and even a hardcore punk (!) tune, Useless, showing that Saint Vitus are as strong as ever.
DISCOGRAPHY:
  1. Saint Vitus - 1984
  2. Hallow's Victim - 1985
  3. Born Too Late - 1986
  4. Mournful Cries - 1988
  5. V - 1990
  6. C.O.D. - 1992
  7. Die Healing - 1995
  8. Lillie: F-65 - 2012
  9. Saint Vitus - 2019
Feel free to share your thoughts on Saint Vitus below.

2023.05.29 03:09 its_vf Fremantle Dockers round 11 report card: Ruck quandary after Luke Jackson shines in win

A year to the day since the Dockers announced themselves as premiership contenders at the home of football, Walyalup blew the finals race open, writes ELIZA REILLY in her round 11 report card.
https://www.codesports.com.au/afl/fremantle/fremantle-dockers-round-11-report-card-ruck-quandary-after-luke-jackson-shines-in-win/news-story/b5ebd6d86b7f20fec5d760e76b52e742
There’s something about Walyalup playing Naarm at the MCG.
A year to the day since the Dockers announced themselves as premiership contenders at the home of football, Walyalup blew the finals race open with a thrilling seven-point win over the Demons.
Here is the Dockers’ round 11 report card.

Distinctions

Luke Jackson: It was always going to be a big day for the premiership Demon up against his old side, yet that day got a lot bigger when ruck sidekick Sean Darcy hobbled to the bench with a hamstring injury early in the second quarter. Having played as a midfielder in the first quarter, Jackson assumed the mantle of Walyalup’s No.1 ruck and thrived. Willed himself to contest after contest and limited the influence of Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy, while having a big one himself. It begs the question: should the ruck split be more even when Darcy returns?
Andrew Brayshaw: Cheekily told his helmeted brother Angus to ‘strap in’ and while his older sibling was doing damage on the outside, Brayshaw got to work in the middle. His evasive powers were on full display, fighting his way through traffic to send Walyalup forward, including a crucial inside 50 lace-out pass late to Bailey Banfield, who kicked the sealer. His past month has been exceptional.
Hayden Young: Was highlighted by Justin Longmuir as one of the Dockers who had come the furthest during pre-season and now we’re starting to see why. Was the biggest driver of the footy on the ground, with a game-high 644m gained from 27 touches. That’s the attacking side of Young but it came from nine intercept possessions. He was also exceptional in the air.
Jye Amiss: You’d hope the folks at AFL house were watching because it’s getting harder and harder to overlook Amiss for a Rising Star nomination. External recognition or not, Amiss is growing before our eyes. He’s hitting the scoreboard like a seasoned key forward, not a kid, adding another three goals to his tally to take the lead in Walyalup’s goalkicking stakes. His ability to impact the contest and follow up like a small forward is mightily impressive.

Passes

Matthew Johnson: So much composure for someone so young. Playing his first full game back since suspension, Johnson continues to prove wrong the countless clubs who overlooked him in the 2021 draft. He’s strong in the core and hard to bring down, and his decision-making is excellent, especially that kick in traffic out to a wing that he could’ve easily bombed forward. Used the ball at 75 per cent and sent the footy inside 50 six times.
Ethan Hughes: Had some shaky moments but overall, he looks a lot more settled back in defence after a subpar start to the season on the wing. While Pearce, Cox and Ryan will get all the headlines, it suits Hughes to slip under the radar and focus purely on his opponent. But against the Demons, Hughes also won back the footy a few times and got himself involved in going back the other way with eight marks.

Fails

Brandon Walker: Harsh given he’s played on and won battles against some of the league’s best small forwards in the past few weeks, but Walker got taught a lesson by Kysaiah Pickett. At his best, which he was close to on Saturday, Pickett is an incredibly hard match-up for any defender. Walker can match him for speed but the Dockers defender just lost touch a few times and paid the price; Pickett had two goals and seven score involvements. A lesson learnt for next time.
Skill errors and connection: It ultimately wasn’t costly but some of Walyalup’s early-season demons came back to haunt it in the first half. Probably a symptom of Naarm’s elite pressure, the Dockers fumbled more than they have in the past few weeks and skill errors cost them a few looks, especially going inside 50. Walyalup struggled early to hit that final kick inside 50, in a flashback to its past midfield-forward connection issues. An in-form team would’ve found a way to punish the Dockers but the Demons were having the same issues up the other end.

The focus this week

Rest and recovery. Fremantle arrives at its mid-season bye with a 6-5 record and very much in contention for the top eight. Players and coaches are on a four-day break, with some choosing to remain in Melbourne and spend time with family and friends. All will return to the club later this week, with a Saturday night clash with Richmond back home on the horizon.
Speaking of recovery, the Dockers will get an extra week to make progress on Sean Darcy’s hamstring injury. Michael Walters is on track to return after the bye; his scans revealed a strained calf. Defender Heath Chapman still has around a month to go in his comeback from a hamstring injury, while the Dockers are still yet to place a timeline on Matt Taberner’s rehab from back surgery but are confident he’ll return this season.
The most pressing focus for Fremantle is Wednesday’s mid-season draft. The Dockers have one list spot available, which they are expected to fill. Potential target Robert Hansen Jr missed his final draft audition with Subiaco due to illness but you’d think Fremantle has seen enough to make a decision on the small forward.

2023.05.29 03:02 FarTransition5140 I know this is a useless debate now. It's abt our 2020 squad.

It always hurted my mind dat RCB let stoinis go at the end of 2019 season. Idk why they did dat. After then to now he is feared by any team when he comes to bat. So yesterday I was just casually doing a playing XI of 2020 season if we haven't had dropped marcus stoinis.
  1. Devdutt Padikkal or Parthiv Patel
  2. Virat Kohli
  3. Abd
  4. Moen Ali
  5. Dube
  6. Marcus Stoinis
  7. Washington Sundar
  8. Chris Morris or any oveseas pacer
  9. Chahal
  10. Siraj
  11. Saini or any good Indian pacer.
I mean just look at this team. I was just so suprised. Look at the batting depth and good enough bowling line up. 2020 season could had been the breakthrough season for RCB. But nope! Our management dropped Stoinis, dropped Moeen Ali n settled with maxi in the end to fill in the middle order. Double the price of moeen and stoinis. Cuz he is a star player. And we need star players in our team yea.

2023.05.29 03:02 Rad10_Active In which episode did they discuss LA Tiki bars?

I was visiting a friend in LA recently and they took me to a tiki bar. I think it may have been one of the ones they discussed on the show. There was a specific episode where they discussed their favorite tiki bars in LA. Anyone remember the episode number? I think it was around the time Adam moved to LA, so probably around DS9 season 5 or 6. Thanks!
