2023.06.10 20:10 uh_seal UPDATE: After all the commotion over my last post, I decided to go with this baby for $800
2023.06.10 19:34 le_avx <600€, replace 10+ y/o system, mostly office/multimedia, no gaming
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
- NO Gaming
- 3D Modeling (Blender, SolidWorks)
- 3D Printing related (PrusaSlicer, Lychee, openSCAD)
- multimedia editing for family+friends (PS, Davinci, ...)
- Linux+Android development (native and virtual machines)
What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
<=600€
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Before June 30th.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
PC-Parts, maybe including a tower case if current (
Sharkoon M25) does no longer fit. So: Mobo, CPU+Fan, RAM, GPU, maybe power supply if current does not work out(currently
bequiet!Pure Power 11 500W CM). For the time being, existing monitors, hdds and inputs can be (re)used.
Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
Germany
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
Crucial MX500 SSD, Samsung 2TB HDDs, 2x HP 23", 1x Hisense 4k, basic cherry keyboard, Logitech MX Master 2, 3DConnexion SpacePilot Pro.
Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No.
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- 32GB+ RAM
- 8GB+ video memory
- space for 2+ HDD and 1+ SSD
- low noise is more important than top performance.
- 100% Linux support, especially network devices.
What type of network connectivity do you need? (Wired and/or WiFi) If WiFi is needed and you would like to find the fastest match for your wireless router, please list any specifics.
1G+ ethernet, bluetooth would be nice to have, WiFi optional. Drivers for Linux working out of the box would be strongly prefered.
Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
If existing case (
Sharkoon M25) can't be reused, MidiTower or smaller is prefered. Clean front (no optical media needed), single color, no RGB, no light indicators (or able to turn them off/not connect them), better blocky than curvy, better sturdy than light.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No Windows license needed.
Extra info or particulars:
Current system is a 10+ year old Intel i7-920 with 18gb RAM, GTX 960 4GB OC.
Goal of the system is to not annoy me while doing work in front of it, as in sluggish UIs, constantly taking 10s+ for small things. For longer computational tasks like rendering a video, it's fine if it takes 2 instead of 1 hour as I will be doing something else in the meantime anyhow.
Thanks for your inputs!

2023.06.10 19:07 AgentMonkey Need help choosing earbuds -- here's my criteria:
Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my existing earbuds (TaoTronics TT-BH052) as well as replace a busted wired headset (Jabra Evolve 40) that I've been using for work. Given how I've used those currently, here's my overall criteria, mostly in order of importance.
- Call Quality & Audio Quality: My current earbuds are decent for audio quality and useless for calls, so I never use them for calls, which is a bit annoying. The headset were great for using with my laptop, and I could do Teams calls for work with them as well as using them for general listening to music, YouTube, etc. on the laptop. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I do want to have a good listening experience for music (mostly via Spotify).
- Multipoint: As noted, I'm looking to replace two devices that were used for different purposes -- one for my phone and one for my laptop. If I could seamlessly switch between the two, that would be fantastic. Although I am used to switching devices currently, making that experience smoother would be a plus.
- Wireless charging: Cases generally hold enough charges to last a while (I'm not the type to have earbuds in constantly, although I do anticipate more usage with whatever new set I pick up), so having to plug in to charge is not a deal breaker. But wireless charging is always my preference when available and may tip the scales if two sets of earbuds are close otherwise.
- Exercise: I have my own small home gym, so I don't really have an issue playing my own music over a speaker. But there are times that I will workout with earbuds, so having a set that will be secure even when I'm sweaty is a plus.
- ANC: It would probably be nice to have. I do have some sensory issues at times, so being able to block out sounds could be beneficial (I'm also on the hunt for good earplugs for general use, but that's a separate subject). I've also managed to get by without it, though, so it's not necessarily mandatory. But perhaps it may play into the call quality, which is a top priority for me, so I am listing it.
Based on the research I've done so far, here are the ones I'm considering (in no particular order). I'm also open to other suggestions if you feel I've missed something.
- Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3
- Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro
- Nothing Ear 2
- Anker Soundcore Liberty 4
- Jabra Elite 7 Pro
Budget is probably apprent from those choices, but I'm looking in the $100-$200 range, preferably on the lower end of that, but I'm willing to stretch for something exceptional.
I do realize that wireless earbuds won't really replace a wired headset for call quality. But I'm really tired of managing that wire, and it's had the same problem most wired earphones/headsets experience where the connection at the plug gets loose and starts dropped channels. And I really want one device to replace both my current earbuds and the wired headset. So, that's why I want something good for calls rather than sticking with a wired or wireless headset solution.
For additional detail, I have a Samsung Galaxy S22+ phone and a Galaxy Watch 4, but otherwise, I am not really committed to the Samsung ecosystem (in general, I prefer platform-agnostic). My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad (work-provided), and I also have an HP Chromebook that I'll use. I also play games on a PS4 (local-only, no online multiplayer), but I have no expectations for using earbuds for that since I know Sony doesn't really support BT audio. I had been using my headset with it, though, which was a great experience for some games (The Last of Us, for example).

2023.06.10 18:03 Der_Slime Is it possible?
Hey Guys, I’m owning currently a MacBook Pro with the M1 Chip and I’m Planung to change my device to a HP Victus 15 Gaming Notebook but I love MacOS and it fits perfect with other Apple devices.
Should I stay on my MacBook or should I get the HP, cause I would have a Windows Gaming laptop so I can easily take it with me

2023.06.10 13:56 Beatsintime Just finished my dream PC build.
| After a few months deciding on parts I finally did it. Sold my old rig (gtx 1080 + i5 8600k) for £400 to pay for the monitor. Specs: Nvidia FE RTX 4090 AMD Ryzen 7800X3D MSI X670e Carbon WiFi mobo Samsung 2Tb 990 pro NVMe M.2 Corsair RM 1000x Shift PSU HP Omen 27i monitor Corsair 4000D Airflow Corsair 32gig Vengeance Ram Noctua NH-U12A CPU Cooler. 3 Arctic Fans intake on case front, 2 exhaust at case top, plus one exhaust at the back. Tbh I was dreading the build as the whole of my last one cost as much as the 4090 by itself, and there was no way I could afford to replace components if I f'ed up along the way. Turned out to be a great experience - took a little under 3 hours including windows / drivers install and bios flash. Happy old gamer here. submitted by Beatsintime to pcmasterrace [link] [comments] |

2023.06.10 09:57 Halalmemer I need a budget GPU to upgrade this pre-built I'm about to buy.
Recently I have been looking to buy a pc for work and general gaming nothing too crazy and I'm not picky about graphics, I usually run 1028×768 if not 800×600 resolution.
I'm currently running on this giveaway pc but after my work online and through my phone has paid off I'm looking to expand and get something better but I don't want to go crazy with it.
My current computer has the following specs: -intel pentium 4 3GHZ -GTX 650 -2GB Ram
I'm buying an HP ProDesk 600 G1 Tower with the following specs:
-Intel I5-4570 3.2GHZ -8 GB Ram DDR3 -no graphics card
So I just need general advice on what graphics card to get because I heard the integrated graphics weren't good? And that it would hold off the CPU from giving 100% of it's performance.

2023.06.10 06:15 Braveux Soldered wifi card antennas broken
I was given this laptop by a friend. I installed Windows and found that I had no wifi. So I opened it up, and see that the antenna are broken. If I tape the antenna down, I get a 2-3 bar signal. But as the laptop heats up, the tape unsticks itself and I lose connection.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I have a fine point soldering iron... My soldering skills are OK. But would only use them as a last resort.
