I've gone ahead and listed down all of the 'fatigues' I've encountered during my time with D4. I'm around level 85, and feel pretty confident in the list below. Feel free to add your own perspective to Fatigues you've felt, or offer your opinions in contrast to mine below. D4 is an amazing first step for an ARPG to take, and I really think they've got the 'bones' to make something good. Addressing some of these sources of fatigue would, ultimately, be what I'm looking for in future content updates.

1. (Design Decision) Looking at Renown and knowing I'll have to repeat this grind next season.
2. (UI/UX) Picking up Normal/Sacred gear when I'm using Sacred/Ancestral. No way to loot filter.
3. (UI/UX) Plucking lower tier gems out of my already-limited equipment tab.
4. (UI/UX) Seeing Plants/Ore/Salvage tab and knowing gems could have just fit in a tab like that.
5. (Design Decision) The amount of CC that outright stops the flow of the game.
6. (Design Decision) A Dodge button with no immunity? Why am I not unstoppable for its duration?
7. (Bug?) An inconsistently triggered ~1 second of locked animation at the end of my Dodge.
8. (Balancing) Standing in boss AOEs and taking negligible damage. At least make damage ramp.
9. (Balancing) Only a handful of monsters that represent a threat (even less excluding CC)
10. (Game Feel) Horse maneuvering and inconsistent dips in momentum when clipping collisions.
11. (UI/UX) The amount of unnecessary text in a Sigil's Dungeon Affixes with advanced tooltips on.
12. (UI/UX) No quick macro option to toggle advanced tooltips on/off when I want them.
13. (Design Decision) Finishing a quest and getting a single rare or cache of... rawhide...
14. (Level Design) Thinking I'm done with a dungeon and seeing ANOTHER chamber to clear.
15. (Level Design) Dying and checking how aggressively far back my respawn is in dungeons.
16. (Level Design) Not wanting to do dungeons out of fear of tedium in their tasks/backtracking. POE maps are procedural and easy to progress through. Revisits to the game optimize.
17. (Level Design) Dungeon names and level sections have no identity / feel random / repetitive.
18. (Design Decision) Knowing that at most, a new season will let me choose what class to play, but my agency over what I play is broadly defined by the legendary affixes that drop for me. I felt less agency over my build than I would in a roguelike like Hades, and felt punished for trying to play the build I /wanted/ to play (playing storm druid and have only gotten wearbear uniques...).
19. (Design Decision) Lack of agency in hunting for gear. Selling/salvaging does not fill me with the feeling that my bad gear is being converted into a potential future for good gear - crafting is too limited.
20. (Design Decision) Seeing a white or blue item on the ground and knowing there's no reason for it to be there beyond 'that being a thing arpgs have'. Decisions like this feel as if they've been made to check off the box of what a Diablo game should be, with no real thought into how they fit into the core gameplay loop.
21. (Design Decision) - Level Scaling - Sifting through five levels worth of new gear, hoping to find affixments that speak to the build I'm currently running and finding nothing. Meanwhile, the rest of the game has become significantly harder and I am forced to adapt to the curve and slot on a chest piece I don't want to. The game does not feel like a power fantasy of feeling stronger - it is in fact the inverse of that. Every level, I feel weaker, and I have little agency over the interactions I have with that curve. Breakpoints in uniques and paragon board capstones are the only significant breakpoints along the lvl 50-100 grind.
22. (Design Decision) - The game is filled with tedium and backtracking, and I'm not even on my second character yet. Exploring the world once? Cool. But ARPGs are about making repeat navigations as fun and seamless as possible. The joy on new playthroughs comes from optimizing your navigation. Yet I am not excited about the prospect of doing this all over again next season. Cooldowns on 'making my horse run fast', only to have my speed clipped is frustrating. Roadblocks are frustrating. The time to navigate to a static dungeon I've already been to is frustrating. Knowing I'm faster when mounted and then having to slog it on foot through a dungeon is frustrating. Clearing a chamber, thinking I'm done, and then seeing I have to eliminate every foe in a new chamber is frustrating. Having to backtrack to the next chamber zone after finishing that floor's objective is frustrating. The amount of time I've spent in D4 not playing an arpg is frustrating. At the very least let me teleport to the next chamber in a dungeon when I've cleared its objectives, or give me a 'keystone' to drop near chamber exits that I can tp back to.

As it stands, a single full playthrough of D4 from 1-100 is exhausting. I am not finished, and I am already convinced I do not want to level another alt. Experimentation and payoff for the time I've invested in an ARPG is important to the power fantasy involved, yet I dont feel a sense of agency. I am playing a game that seems to actively does not want me to play a stormwolf druid due to the nature of both power and identity predominantly dropping from loot. The lack of crafting options to further shape gear into the playstyle I want is, also, lacking. I am greatly looking forward to seeing how they would incentivize players like myself to return, because unfortunately, I don't see myself replaying this game again.

The purge continues! As stated before, I`m getting ready to retire and travel for several months so I'm drastically thinning the herd of safe queens and uncarried blades (round 4). I don't really have the room in the camper for as many knives as I have now. My downsizing can benefit you!

1.) Steve Karroll AEB-L Fixed Blade. AEB-L Blade. Previous owner had Karbadize make some scales for it. Comes with kydex sheath. Sheath was cut down to fit the new scales, the cut isn’t the most even but holds super solid. Small bit of wear from the sheath. OAL is about 7 7/16". Never sharpened. Comes with COA. SV $180

2.) Grimsmo Norseman #1781. Blue reverse honeycomb pattern anodized titanium handle with gold accents, gold anodized titanium hardware, stonewashed RWL 34 blade, ceramic bearings. Knife is in great condition. It's had a few different owners and it's seen pocket time and some very light cutting tasks. With that being said, there really aren't any stand out signs of use or wear. Blade is in great shape and the edge is factory sharp. Clip side handle shows some light ano wear and maybe a scratch or two here and there, but nothing significant. Lock up is excellent and action is what you'd expect from a Norseman. I really hate to let this go, but I have multiple Norsemen. Comes with Grimsmo hard case, COA, T9 tool, and Nano-Oil. SV $600.

Shirogorov Neon NL. 3.375″ full flat-ground Elmax blade with jimping, 7.5″ overall length, Runs on MRBS (Multi-Row Bearing System), Titanium frame-lock handle scales with contoured edges, Smooth Micarta inlays, Steel lockbar insert doubles as lockbar stabilizer, Polished stand-off, 3D machined tip-up Titanium pocket clip attached with hidden hardware. Action is phenomenal (as usual per Shiros), no play, shaving edge (barely been used on Amazon boxes). Centering is near perfect. I cannot personally find any marks on the handles or the blade. 4.) Olamic Wayfarer 247. M390 blade with Olamic's acid dark wash finish. This knife has been carried, fiddled with, but never cut anything besides opening some Amazon packages. The only blemish is a small snail trail on the show side of the blade. The centering is dead-on, action is good. Solid lockup. The scales have a deep-sea finish/sculpting that reflects light beautifully and is even better in person. Bronzed hardware and backspacer, the latter of which is also sculpted to match scales and the clip. Comes with the original zippered pouch, the COA, and the pivot tool. S/N T495-H, DOB 10.30.2020. 5.) Olamic Swish. Elmax blade with satin finish. Titanium scales in Olamic’s blue seabed contouring. Titanium Clip with nugget backbar anodized bronze. A few very slight marks/scratches on the blade, but not much. Handles look good with no noticeable signs of wear. Detent is very good and the blade fires out nicely with the flipper tab or a Spydie flick. Drop shut and the lock up is solid. Comes with the Olamic case, the COA, and 2 business cards. SV $350

6.) Benchmade 940-1 Osborne.
S90V steel and carbon fiber scales. The 940-1 is highly regarded as one of the most quintessential EDCs of all time. Designed by Warren Osborne, this knife sports a plain reverse tanto blade with a Carbon Fiber handle. The manual opening mechanism features AXIS® lock technology. Up for grabs is this beauty of BM 940-1. Amazing fidget factor. It has a couple trails/marks on the clip and a small scratch on the blade. Never used or carried by me, but I am not the first owner. Comes with the box with corner wear, sticker, and warranty info. SV $180.

7.) Fox Knives 40th Anniversary #005. M390 striped blade and carbon fiber scales. You won’t find many of these on the internet. This one has a really cool blade. Appears to be a sharpened blade from the previous owner and general signs of carry. Really cool knife though. Perfect size, great ergos, that blade. My only complaint is the detent is a little soft so the action isn't super snappy. No original box but will come in a zippered pouch. SV $375

8.) Pena X Series Rhino. M390 blade and Titanium scales. An awesome Enrique Pena and Jared Van Otterloo design that will make a great addition to any collection. This beautiful knife is built with a satin finished blade with a deep belly and a subtle recurve. The titanium handle comes in a satin finish with blue and bronze ano hardware. The blade rockets open on stainless steel caged bearings and the lock up is solid. A milled titanium pocket clip finishes off the solid design. Has been carried and shows some snail trails: scales and clip; leading edge of show scale has a cosmetic mark. Comes with the box. SV $250.

9.) WingmanEDC MDD-K. M390 hand rubbed satin blade with Titanium ceramic bead blast handles. Utilizes Lee Williams’ innovative KickStop flipper mechanism and runs on ceramic bearings. Ceramic bead blasted pivots and hardware with steel lock-bar insert which doubles as lock-bar stabilizer. Lanyard pin. Steel backspacer and 3D machined titanium pocket clip. This does not have the original pivot screw. A previous owner stripped the head put because they didn’t have the proper tool for the proprietary screw. I was able to get the pivot out and replace it with an exact specs pivot screw with a regular hex head. Unfortunately, WingmanEDC does not offer replacement parts. Locks up solid and has an excellent action. I adore the bayonet style blade grind and the Kickstop action. Comes with the box, COA tag, and original paperwork. SV $250.

10.) APurvis Progeny V1. M390 blade with a satin finish and purple anodized scales. Action is solid and the detent is on point. There are some marks from a previous owner’s sharpening on the choil and a couple of barely visible scratches on the pocket clip. Great knife with good ergos. No box but comes with a pouch. SV $225

12.) Ray Laconico & Massdrop Keen. S35VN blade with brushed titanium scales anodized bronze. Gorgeous knife that shows almost no signs of being carried. This thing literally snaps open with early lockup, perfect centering, and no lock stick. Drops shut with the slightest shake. Comes with the box, taco, and R. Laconico cloth. SV $140

14.) Civivi Elementum Damascus flipper.
Damascus blade steel that offers dependable blade strength beauty. Carbon fiber overlay on G-10 scales that complement the lightweight design. Stainless steel clip for secure deep-pocket carry. Caged ball bearing pivot ensures a smooth and reliable action. I am the original owner with very light carry. Small mark on clip and lock side pivot screw wear. Comes with the box, rag, and stickers. 15.) Civivi Elementum Damascus Button Lock.
Damascus blade. Push button lock that rides smoothly and locks the blade in place. Marbled Carbon Fiber handle scales with a simple shape for a sure grip. A stainless steel, reversible clip and caged ball bearing pivot for a smooth and reliable action. I am the original owner and never carried this one, like NIB. Comes with the box, pouch, rag, and stickers. SV $80.

16.) Kizer Splinter Ti.
S35VN blade with Titanium scales. This is a collaboration with Kizer and Tomcat Knives. Has a contoured and textured titanium handle with an S35VN steel blade. The action is smooth with the ball bearings. Frame lock provides a reliable lock up of the blade with zero blade play. There is a natural stonewash finish on the blade and the handle is equipped with a custom pivot, lanyard hole and a reversible titanium pocket clip. I’m the original owner and have never carried it. I hate the fact that I’m already having to deal with this so soon… I sighed as I turned to walk over to a part of the wall where I had a hidden compartment. Pressing in the code on a concealed keypad revealed a hidden compartment where a special pack was kept. I slung the pack along my back and clipped a special bracelet interface on my wrist.
I hope I can deter them away, I really don’t want to use violence if I can avoid it.
“M-Marcel?! What are you-? Are you planning to go down there?!” Slanek spoke up with much concern in his voice. He was always someone who cared greatly for my safety.
“Don’t worry Slanek… I’ll be fine. I’ll handle this.”
I walk out of my office and make my way to the security office where I see the many cameras of the parking lot. The rioters waved their signs which had the shapes of humans on fire and earth with a cross over it… These fuckers…
I take my seat next to the security officer, and begin to speak into the intercom. “Cease your aggression, predatory behavior from you lot will not be tolerated.'' The moment I speak through the intercom, the rioters seem to show offense to the idea of me calling the predatory. I continue, “You are transgressing on human institutions which are meant to improve your ways of life, and deter you away from the horrid practices of the Federation, your anti-human sentiment is unacceptable under new development. You are to disperse immediately, failure to comply will be met with defensive action against you.”
I let the words hang as the people in the crowd seemed to reconsider the course of action they should take. A Venlil spoke up however, “See?! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE ARE AGAINST THEM! They will use violence against us if we don’t get them off our planet!”

The riot went back to what it was doing before…
I checked to see the status of the defensive perimeter of the station, the turrets were loaded with the standard bean bag rounds and the water cannons were ready to fire highly pressurized water. The water heated quite a bit as well…
“I will give you one last warning… disperse immediately… your behavior is predatory in all ways and will not be tolerated.”
They did not cease… if anything they just got worse, they began to hurl rocks into the building. They were breaking several windows and seemed to be getting closer to the main door. I saw that a few had what seemed to be hair spray and lighters…
… So be it…
I nodded for the security officer to activate the defensive grid to rid us of this riot. I watched from the cameras as six turrets were revealed from their underground storage containers along the building and began to fire into the crowd. Bean bag rounds were fired from gatling turrets and launched tear gas from along the top into the largest parts of the crowd. The water turrets began to blast the crowd with heated water, blasting them back and causing many to drop their signs… They began to scream as the turrets began to fire, many in the crowd began to bolt out of the parking lot to escape the barrage of water and beanbags. Many were stumbling as they began to scramble and scatter. Once the smoke cleared, it revealed at least a dozen that were in the parking lot splayed out on the ground.
I got worried and figured the best course of action was to notify the paramedics regarding the riot. Maybe provide government officials with a recording of the riot as well… Not even until construction is completed… Fucking-...

Let me start this by saying I tried fixing something on my truck for the first time. I’m not super mechanical and never worked on vehicles so this was out of my comfort zone but seemed easy enough.
My truck is a 2019 F150 STX 2.7L Ecoboost. I was replacing the oil inlet tube for the driver side turbo and it was a success. Unfortunately while doing it I broke some things.
First, I had to take the exhaust tube that goes into the EGR off. Well, when I was unbolting it, the stud on the EGR side broke in half so I need to replace it but can’t seem to find just the stud. I don’t really want to replace the entire EGR for the one broken stud.
Edit: I believe that tube I am talking about is the EGR valve tube that goes from the exhaust manifold to the EGR cooler? It has a mesh sleeve on it and has some ribs in the middle of the tube.
End Edit.
Second, I lost the bolt to the other side of that EGR exhaust tube that goes into the engine. I can’t seem to find that one online either.
Third and last, I accidentally broke off one of a piece of plastic on the air intake that goes into the center of the turbo. It is where two tubes snap on, one with a red clip and one with a green clip. I’m assuming i’m going to have to replace the entire tube but not sure.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sami says he did it too, he did everything he could to keep everything together just like Jey, but he was still pushed and pushed against his brothers, just like what he's doing to Jey. Sami sincerely hopes Jey wins the US Championship tonight so they can see that they need Jey more than Jey needs them. And reminds Jey, Jimmy is his brother, they're the Usos, so listen to what's in his heart and not what's being drilled into his head.
  
• Kayla Braxton introduces the NXT Women's Tag Team Champions Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, joining her in the ring. As Kayla attempts to start an interview, Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler interrupt. Shayna asks, how much do they know about the history of their titles? She says she's the reason those titles were even created -- those Shayna Baszler Commemorative Titles are really hers. Ronda says she ran the numbers and this division isn't big enough for the two of them, so they want theirs. Fyre & Dawn accept the unification title request and go on the offense. After a scuffle, Ronda & Shayna are driven from the ring and the NXT champs stand tall.

• AJ Styles joins the commentary table for the Michin/Bayley match. Afterwards, Scarlett walks up to AJ and blows red dust in his face; he stumbles back into Karrion Kross behind the barricade, choking him out in a Kross-Jacket.
  
• Bianca Belair is backstage asking Adam Pearce for her rematch against Asuka. Pearce says there's a lot going on and tonight he's presenting Asuka with a new women's title and asks that she can have her rematch at another time but that she lets this go off without a hitch. Bianca protests but Adam says just for tonight, leave it alone. She agrees, because she's got a rematch.
  
• Backstage AJ is being held by Anderson & Gallows wondering what in the hell just happened. Michin assures them that they'll get their revenge.
  
• Adam Pearce summons Asuka to the ring to present the new WWE Women's Championship. As he's fastening it around her waist, Charlotte Flair's music hits. Adam says he thinks he knows what she's trying to do, but she kinda needs to get in line. Charlotte says she doesn't wait in line, she made the line. She adds she respects Asuka, but she wants that championship, so she's challenging her for the title. Asuka accepts. Charlotte tells Adam when she wins, he can put that championship around her waist, too. Asuka then attempts to mist Charlotte but she ducks out.
  
• Jey Uso is taping up his wrisks and Paul Heyman joins him, saying yeah, he got him, he gave him a cliffhanger. Paul then says he wants Jey's passport so he can fly with Roman & Solo in style. And next week there will be a triple celebration - Roman Reigns, Jey the right-hand man, and a public announcement that he'll be groomed as the next tribal chief. Paul puts his hand out for a shake again. Jey says count him in, but doesn't know why Paul's so happy - because if Jey's in the Bloodline, that means Paul's out of the Bloodline.
  
• Adam Pearce is backstage talking to whoever talking about how huge it is that they have Asuka/Flair on the books. Bianca shows up, glaring. Adam says he'll figure it out. She says yes, and she's getting her win back.
  
• Trick Williams & NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes are hanging out for the Butch vs. Corbin match. Corbin warns them that they better stay on the other side of that barricade like the fans they are and watch him punch his ticket to Money in the Bank.
  
• Post-match, Corbin approaches them and hands are thrown, with officials needing to separate them.
  
• Megan Morant checks in with the Brawling Brutes backstage asking Butch about his win - he's taking the title back to the UK and every night will be FIGHT NIGHT! Baron Corbin tries to intervene saying he was distracted by Carmelo Hayes, and Cameron Grimes appears to blast him from behind.
  
• Kayla Braxton congratulates IYO SKY from backstage, now interviewing Austin Theory. Theory's mad he was the last one to find out about this match tonight. He's had zero time to prepare but that's fine, all he gets are victories. He'll beat Jey Uso like he beat John Cena at Wrestlemania. Should Paul Heyman need a new client, he invites him to check out Austin Theory live.
  
• Kevin Owens chats with Sami Zayn backstage, checking in to see if he talked to Jey. They're interrupted by Pretty Deadly who think they should consider defending their championships. The Brawling Brutes appear asking the same, and then the OC appears, and then the LWO appears, and then the Street Profits appear. Adam Pearce tries to calm the crowd when Kevin Owens flips the fuck out and cannot take everyone showing up. Sami tries to get him to settle down. Pearce says, how about we have a gauntlet match for the top contenders for the championship next week?
  
• Grayson Waller gets a vignette, and next week the Grayson Waller Effect will have Charlotte Flair as a guest.
  
• Mixed tag team match next week: AJ Styles & Michin vs. Karrion Kross & Scarlett; the gauntlet match previously mentioned; and Roman Reigns returns.

Don't ask me why, but I just decided to look up some clips from this play that really upset me as a kid--the Noah's Ark musical at Sight and Sound theater (in Lancaster, PA).
It's mindblowing seeing all the positive comments. "Great production! This is my favorite Sight and Sound play! Awesome!"
I saw this play in 1991 when I was four years old and I was SO freaking scared. I still remember the scene when it started to rain and all the people outside the ark were drowning and screaming and banging on the doors. It stuck in my brain my whole life.
Whenever I talk to therapists about having been exposed to stuff like this as a little kid, they're like, WTF? Yet I look at these audiences and they're packed full of children. Like it's just another Broadway show. It's so messed up to me.

Behavioral Euthanasia- AKA “Failed by humans”
It seems like some people in here have forgotten that BE is permanent and should never be considered, or at least until every other avenue has been explored. And I really want to believe most of you treat it as such, but hearing how frequently it is being recommended or someone’s next step after an incident is alarming.
Please note these are my personal experiences and beliefs
I can understand BE in severe cases where there may be a legitimate neurological condition going on and/or where everything else has failed, even rehomes+rehabilitations.
I own two reactive dogs currently- and as a child my family had my young dog euthanized for behavioral issues. A bite record (with strangers) that stemmed from lack of socialization, lack of training, him being unaltered and a slew of other reasons that were the direct result of an irresponsible home who never should have gotten a dog. We failed him. If I had him now as an adult I am certain it all could have been avoided, as I manage my dogs’ reactivity on a daily basis. It is my only choice and the choice I made when I became a dog owner. Managing your dogs reactivity is not easy, it’s a fucking full time job. But I love my dogs like my children, regardless of how stressful it can be at times and downright traumatizing, because it can be. It is rewarding to have them beside me, and to have that one good day after a really rough few.
A reminder that dogs are animals who are capable of causing injury like any animal, and it’s up to you when you bring them home to learn to read their body language, learn their triggers if they have them, use preventative measures and don’t put them in a position where if they react or lose their cool they may just be euthanized for it. Do better for your dog and prioritize their safety!
If you are not willing to go through the day to day shit with a reactive dog and are considering BE as an easy way out, it won’t always be that. The guilt and trauma is insurmountable.
As for managing, I just want to remind reactive dog parents how great MUZZLES are (not just after a bite, but to ensure it never gets to that point), how smart it is to always keep your dogs on a leash and with a back up clip or leash for extra security, how helpful medications can be, how the reception to training can increase in combination with meds. And especially how the quality of life can still be there even without all the fun excursions because at the end of the day they have love and a family who is doing their best.

Good afternoon swappers
Today I am selling my factory seconds Spyderco Shaman in S30V/Black G10. Second owner, the previous owner tried to do a custom acid wash over all of the metal parts. While the blade ended up taking a slightly darker grey hue than it originally had, the liners picked up a but of pitting (see images).
The knife has performed flawlessly for me, and I have not noticed any difference in deploying/usage than with my other shaman. The pitting is not very noticeable unless you are looking. Also included a matching stonewash Lynch Clip (Feather) and original pocket clip.
Still has factory edge and is still hair popping sharp. Would be a great work knife to beat in if anyone needs one. (SV: SOLD FOR $140)

I've been trying to transition to a video podcast, but getting great video is a lot harder than I expected! My respect for videographers has increased a lot in this pursuit.

Hi, as the title says, my girlfriend and I are supposed to move in together, but I feel like we have unresolved issues and moving in together won’t fix them, or at least most of them. I guess I should start at the start, and I’ll try not to make things too one sided, as I know most people are inclined to agree with the author of the post as it’s from their point-of-view, so don’t be afraid to push back on everything I have written, I am writing to get peoples opinions, be them agreeing with me or not agreeing with me. Also, sorry about all the text, I sometimes ramble, so each section has a TL/DR if you like.
I’ll start from the start, my girlfriend (who I’ll name Christine here) and I have been together for two years come September. I love her very much and I know she loves me. We met online (as ya do these days) and I was instantly attracted to how warm and thoughtful she was. Christine seemed to take an interest in what I might be interested in and put in the effort to plan dates around these things. She lives in an apartment with her sister, and is more central to town, where as I live in the suburbs, about a 15-20 minute drive away from her, although sometimes more in rush hour. She is very emotional, which is a pretty big contrast compared to my last ex, who either bottled things in or was more suppressed, whereas my current girlfriend will tell me how she is feeling from one hour to next it seems.
A little background on me prior to this relationship, TL/DR at the bottom of this paragraph:
I moved to this town about 6 years ago with my ex (who I’ll call Meg here), and at the time I bought a house when I moved here. Meg was never on the mortgage and I paid for most of the large house expenses, although we did split some of the other bills, like internet, heating, and small house renovations. In that time the company I was supposed to start work with laid off the entire team before my contract started, basically leaving me jobless and with a mortgage. I was quite stressed for a little bit, but was able to set up freelance and full-time work 4 months later. In that time I also started working on projects for myself, and one of them went well and I have been able to work full-time for myself for the past 4 and a half years. This basically makes me my own boss with my own hours, although I do like to keep a regular 9-5 Monday to Friday work schedule. Although I sometimes start later and work later, and on crunch weeks can pull pretty long hours (12 hour days including weekends), but I’ve gotten better with that for the most part. To make a long story short here, Meg and I got engaged after 5 years being together, but we broke up and she left me. In that time we adopted 5 pets, two dogs and 3 cats, she took 2 of the cats and I kept the other animals, leaving me with the house, two dogs, and 1 cat, which is still my current situation. I love my dogs very much and I treat them like my children, but they can be a lot sometimes. They’re a very needy breed, although they keep each other company which is nice. I paid Meg a lump-sum of money at the time to avoid any legal complications, and the statute of limitations has run out if she wanted to try to take more money for the house. Meg ended up getting married to someone 3 months after we broke up, and as far as I know they’re still together, but I have no contact with her, nor do I ever go on social media to see. I’m not huge on using social media, since I use it for my job, I really don’t like using it too much for me personally, although I do like to look at TV clips from shows I like on Instagram haha.
TL/DR for my background: Was in a relationship, bought a house, relationship broke up, I kept 2 dogs and 1 of the cats and was able to keep the house. I work for myself after losing my job, but still work a relatively normal work schedule that is somewhat flexible.
Now that there’s a little bit of background I should get into the meat and potatoes. Christine and I have been having communication issues, which I feel have become more prominent with the planned dates of moving into together. I feel like a lot of these issues have come up in the past, and we talked about them, but some of them are recurring, and I fear moving in together will not be a good way to solve most of them.
Issue 1: The house and how my girlfriend feels about it
It’s a pretty simple house in a quiet neighbourhood, is only one floor and two bedrooms, but is a pretty good amount of space for two people, especially since there is an attached garage and backyard. One of the bedrooms is my office and the other is, well, the bedroom. I have a living room and kitchen, and my hallway has a large closet that houses the washer and dryer. I and my ex did renovate some things, and since she moved out I continued to change some stuff, but am pretty happy with my house, although still have some bigger projects, like a bathroom renovation that I’d like to do at some point. Most people who I first show my house to usually say things like it’s really cute or this place is sweet, things of that nature, although Christine hasn’t really complimented it much. At one point she asked me if I planned to stay in my house forever, and I responded that if that was the case it wouldn’t bother me. Although I don’t necessarily think I’ll be in this place forever, but if I was it wouldn’t upset me. Real-estate where I am is extremely expensive, and I feel fortunate that I was able to but something when I did, as it’s become nearly impossible for my generation to buy anything. While it could be possible for me to sell this place and put the money towards a new mortgage somewhere, that isn’t currently my intention, as I am pretty happy with me current living situation.
Christine has said in the past that she considers my contentment to be me settling, which upset me greatly as I really don’t consider how I live to be “settling”. She has said she in the past that she dislikes my house, and feels she is sacrificing a lot to move in here, and that I haven’t acknowledged this sacrifice enough. The things she’s most sad about leaving behind in her apartment is the more central location, her favourite coffee shops, the shorter commute to work, having her own bedroom that is just her own, and despite sometimes having issues with her sister, she’s gonna miss living with her, as they’ve been roommates for nearly 3 years. She has listed the things she dislikes about my place, but it’s largely more suburban location, and it isn’t clean enough to her liking – it isn’t dirty, but my dogs a pretty messy, so I have agreed to hire cleaners to do more deep cleans every month or so, while I continue to tidy things up in the way that I have been doing. She also the dislikes the direction my house faces and feels like it doesn’t get enough light, although she is often over during the evening, and I feel like my house gets quite a bit of light during the day, so much so I often need to draw the blinds when the sun hits certain areas.
She’s also implied that she feels uncomfortable moving in to my place because I have history with a past relationship in this house, which I can understand, and have agreed to move her bed into the house when she moves in, as living on the same bed as a past relationship would probably be too strange. She has also implied that other couples when they move in together usually move into a whole new space, as she always had a dream of one day buying and picking out her own house and she feels that if she moves in with me that I am taking away her dreams. Although I’ve tried to re-frame her thinking, as once she moves in we can redecorate and change the place, paint, and more or less blend our two styles into one, making it our place. I also think the idea of couples moving into a new place together is usually when they either both already own a house or neither do, if someone in a relationship already owns their own house most often the partner who doesn’t will move in with them, but that’s just my own thoughts on it.
We’ve also gotten into arguments over changing patio furniture, which I already have, and she said we should buy an entire new set of furniture. I said I don’t really see why we would need a new entire set, my dogs have gotten fur on the current set, but otherwise they’re in good condition, and I said we could clean the furniture with my pressure washer whenever we want. I also agreed that we can expand the patio and add more furniture, a piece or two that she can pick out so that she has some choice in the matter. Although to get to that point she cried a lot and then told me she always had a dream of buying her own patio furniture and she feels like this is another dream that I’m trying to take away from her.
To be honest I am quite the saver and value my security over spending money on things that I already have. I grew up in a lower-middle class family and saw my parents struggle with finances, where as Christine grew up in what I would consider upper-middle class or even lower-high class, and possibly expects a little more than I do. Whereas I grew up learning to love what I have, Christine has often dreamed about what’s next and wanting more. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing for either of us, but this I feel has resulted in some of the arguments revolving around things and the house.
TL/DR Issue 1: My girlfriend seems to not like my house and feels she is sacrifising a lot to move in with me.
Issue 2: Me hanging out with my friends
Another issue that has come up is how we value our various friendships. Christine is more of an introvert and works in an office, so can feel relatively drained at the end of the day and often doesn’t feel the need to additional social interactions, although she does have some people she considers close friends, although maybe only sees them once a month or less even. Where as I am more of an extrovert, although I do like my alone time as well and do have introvert tendencies, but because I work for myself at home I do like to fill my social interactions with my friends when I’m not working. Now I’m not a party animal and I don’t go out every night of the week or anything like that, but I do see my friends maybe 2-3 times a week, often in a group setting.
Christine and I did a personality test recently, which showed that she carries the introvert tendencies, but also can be very jealous and feel like she has extreme FOMO when events are going on. Even when she is invited to them but declines as her social battery is low, she still feels like she has been left out, despite being invited to join by me or someone else in my friend group. I always make an effort to invite her most of the time, unless I know it’s just gonna be a guys night, in which case I try to let her know what I’m up to.
Sometimes my friends are last minute with plans so they’ll text me, and I’ll rush to take care of my dogs and then head out. I try to let my girlfriend know what I’m up to and invite her, but since we don’t live together I don’t always give her a play by play at all times of the day of what I’m up to. Past relationships I’ve had haven’t really wanted to know what I was doing at all times if we’re not living together. I’ve also never made plans with her and then ditched her for my friends, I always make a point to stick to my word and keep any plans that we have set in stone.
In the past when I’ve been hanging out with my friends her texts to me have been short and impersonal and I can tell she’s upset, this has sometimes taken away my joy from hanging out with my friends. She has stated that she isn’t upset at me, but just upset that she is missing out on something, despite most of the times being invited to join. While moving in together would result in me and Christine seeing each other more and I’d of course always let her know if I was heading out or wouldn’t be home when she was expecting me, I sometimes fear her FOMO and the sometimes hour long conversations reassuring her about our relationship after I hang out with my friends.
I feel like this comes down to trust issues, and I feel like Christine doesn’t trust me, despite never being dishonest with her. I’ve had previous relationships cheat on my either emotionally or physically and that’s a pain that doesn’t go away, so I’ve always made an effort to never do anything unbecoming as such. The trust issues come down possibly to Christine’s insecurities about herself, and while I’ve tried to comfort her or reassure her, I feel like it’s a personal issue that she should be talking to a therapist about. She was seeing a therapist for a while, but has stopped recently, stating that the therapist was to agreeable with her, and she wasn’t seeing actionable changes. Although she is self-aware enough to realize that these trust and insecurity issues are her own.
This is compounded further because my friend group has a female friend, I’ll call her Carlotta, who is dating one of my closest friends. After my ex and I broke up 2 and a half years ago, Carlotta and her boyfriend (my close friend) broke up, Carlotta and I both got a little drunk and bonded over our breakups and kissed. We only kissed and nothing else happened, but the next morning we both said that it was a bad idea and that was more or less the end of it. My close friend and Carlotta ended up getting back together about a month later, and after some awkwardness, my close friend forgave both of us for the kiss. They were of course broken up at the time, and I respect peoples relationships too much to ever make a move on someone who is in a relationship, nor would I ever make a move on someone when I’m in a relationship myself. Carlotta and I both chalked it up to both feeling lonely with the recent break-ups. I still hang out with my close friend weekly usually, and Carlotta is there I’d say about 25% of the time, so I might see her once a month or so in group settings. In an effort to be honest with Christine I told her about I and Carlotta’s history early on in our relationship, and this only made Christine more insecure. When I told her I was unaware of her underlying trust and insecurity issues, although I still feel like open honesty was probably the best choice.
While the FOMO and jealousy over me hanging out with my friends is still there, if Carlotta is around it is usually worse. This has led Christine to comparing herself to Carlotta, or at least the idea of Carlotta. Christine at one point block her Instagram because she would see Carlotta’s stories feel even more insecure. Christine has accused me of hiding things from her about me and Carlotta’s past, which I haven’t, and accused me of acting awkward when Carlotta is around. Although I feel like any awkwardness is probably because I know Christine is insecure around Carlotta, so I might be a little uncomfortable not wanting to upset my girlfriend.
While I feel like this has gotten better recently, when I hung out with my friends the other day, Carlotta happened to be there and I told my girlfriend as much afterwards. I of course invited my girlfriend to join at the time, but she wasn’t interested. When we talked on the phone and I told my girlfriend what my friends and I got up to, I could feel like she was upset, and she told me she felt triggered. I asked her why exactly, and the conversation eventually spun off, and while recognizing that it is her insecurity issues, she got upset with how she felt I responded to her being triggered. While I was trying to figure out why exactly she was upset, she became upset at me for not instead immediately comforting her. Although I did try to comfort her, I guess it wasn’t in the way she wanted to be comforted. She accused me of “being attracted greatness”, and because she considers Carlotta to be “great” I musty be attracted to her. This isn’t the case, I’m really not attracted to Carlotta in that way anymore, so I feel like I need to defend myself. Then I get accused of being defensive, so really there’s no winning. It took an hour of back and forth talking to eventually come to end the phone call on good terms where neither of us were upset.
TL/DR issue 2: My girlfriend is insecure and very anxious when I hang out with my friends.
Issue 3: Communication stuff I guess?
While this has probably been apparent in some of the above writing, I really feel like we sometime struggle to understand one another. I’m a very logical person and tend to need a reason for something to be a certain way or to change things. Christine is more emotional and a dreamer, she’s more concerned with thoughts and feelings where as I am more interested in facts and data. Neither of these things is a real issue at all, except for when it comes to conversations that lead to disagreements. Sometimes I feel like we’re having a perfectly normal conversation with some back and forth, and then all of a sudden she’s upset at me and in tears, and I try to rewind the conversation to find something that would have resulted in this response, and I legit can’t. That probably makes me sound pretty stupid, because if someone is crying there must be a reason, but even when she repeats what made her upset, I can’t even place in the conversation when this happened. Seriously, I rack my brain trying to place it and it just isn’t there. I feel like I’m losing my mind. Eventually we can maybe rewind enough to the initial triggering, but even when it’s repeated I have no idea why it would deserve this emotional of a response.
Some of the time it’s because she took a joke I said as reality, not realizing it was a joke. So I have to explain the joke in great detail so that she can get it. I’m a very jokey person by nature and do struggle to be serious. Christine is less jokey, and more serious by nature. Sometimes I can say a joke and she laughs really hard, so she isn’t humourless by any degree. I just think because she’s so serious that she sometimes assumes what I’m saying is serious, and suddenly all the context is gone.
Other times it seems she gets upset at me for reasons that others wouldn’t. I play sports with my friend in recreational leagues, and every now and then we’ve needed a sub so my girlfriend has filled in. After some of the games she is, at least I feel she is, angry at me for perceived things about how I play. Sometimes when you’re playing with a sub you don’t have the same groove as your team usually would, but my girlfriend seems to take it personally if I don’t pass the ball to her enough, and accuses me of not wanting to improve at the sport, despite my level of play being equal or better than most of my team-members, at least in my opinion. There are obviously ways I could improve, but this is a rec league and I only play once a week at most and I’m not going for the majors, most of us are there to have a good time and play the game, and then maybe grab some drinks after to celebrate the win or the loss. I can feel Christine’s mood sour if we aren’t doing well, and everyone else isn’t upset at all. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win, but she hates losing and is very competitive. While she’s not horrible at the game, she doesn’t play as often as we all do, and is probably not quite on our level. So she gets upset when she feels she’s letting the team down, but I’ve told her many times that no one feels like she is letting us down. She does feel like she needs to be the best at stuff, and when she isn’t she gets upset at herself, and then might turn it around on me. It got to the point where I had to stop inviting her to join us as she was getting too upset either visibly in the game or at me after for some perceived slights, for not passing the ball enough, or for me not improving enough since playing.
We have started going to therapy, largely because I want to iron out these issues before moving in together, and in the session I brought up the FOMO and insecurities she has over me hanging out with my friends. We talked and I got some perspective on her side, and I hope she got some perspective on my side. We mostly talked about the house issues though, as that was the most pressing, and the FOMO stuff was relegated to a small part of therapy. Later on in the evening when I went over to her place to hang out she said she felt blindsided about how I brought up her insecurities about this in therapy. She said that she felt we had talked about these issues in the past and didn’t think that it should have been brought up in therapy. I told her that just because we’ve talked about it in the past, and it has gotten a little better, doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t try to talk about it in therapy to gain a better perspective. For context, the next night she got upset when I hung out with my friends, aka the last paragraph of issue 2, so it’s pretty clear that this is an ongoing issue and hasn’t been fully resolved.
The therapist even picked up on something that my girlfriend has started somewhat jokingly diagnosing herself with after watching some videos on TikTok, that is possibly her having ADHD or being somewhere on the Autism spectrum. Both of these would explain why she struggles to contain her emotions, and appreciates having control of her environment, although I can’t really say for sure either way, as I’m not equipped myself to diagnose anything.
TL/DR of Issue 3: Sometimes we just don’t seem to get each other or be on the same page.

Welp, that was a long novel. I think Stephen King will be reaching out to me for the rights soon. I know this might seem like a lot of things, but I just wanted to provide as much detail as possible, plus I think it’s probably all kind of the same thing, but written a whole bunch of different ways. I really do love my girlfriend and want to work out these issues. I hope that therapy is enough to be able to see eye to eye, but I maybe wanted some outside perspective. And I would ask that people keep in mind the ass for mentioned bias that this write-up has probably in my favour, so I would appreciate any opinions in favour of my girlfriend. I really want this to workout, I just want this relationship to last when we move in together, that’s why I wrote all this out, and that’s why we started going to therapy. I truly do love her and I know she loves me. If you read this entire thing then I thank you, and even if you just read the TL/DR of each issue I still thank you.
TL/DR: My girlfriend and I want to move in together, but I feel like communication issues, issues with her thoughts on my house, and her insecurities over my friendships may need to be resolved first.
