2023.06.08 06:36 DietrichVanMeier 23 M Europe - History and Literature Enthusiast

Hi. I'm looking to talk to new people, maybe make a friend
They are:
History, especially the 19th-20th century but with more broad and general knowedge in other time periods. I'm not an expert or anything but I am pretty passionate about it and tend to read/listen about one event or the other on a pretty regular basis.
Literature, especially old novels. I recently read Demian (my all time favourite book), Day of the Oprichnik, Heart of Darkness, the Perfume and Little Prince. Some of my other favourite works would include: "The Picture of Dorian Gray", "Faust part I" (need to get to part II) and "No Longer Human". I also like to write short stories and book reviews. I'd also really like to read the same book with someone and discuss it. I just started reading Grimm's fairy tales.
Languages. I know three, with one being a bit rusty. I'm currently working to scrape off the rust and then when I'm finished with that will begin to learn a fourth language. It's fun to go through different works in multiple languages. For example, I read the aforementioned Faust part I in all three.
Games. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077. Now that the dust has settled and the bugs mostly removed...It's not that bad! The main questline at least, Fallout 76 (Very average, I'm dissapointed with what they made the "RPG" system) and will try out Deus Ex Manking Divided again ( Got inspired since it's somewhat similar to Cyberpunk). I was waiting to play Elden Ring but it ended being too stressful for me. Go here and get beaten up go there and get beaten up, repeat...Besides that I'm a big fan of Paradox strategy games...like EU IV and HoI IV (also thinking of making my own project for HoI IV). I am definitely looking forward to try out Victoria III, after they add more content to it. I also got Modern Warfare 2, since the first MW had great multiplayer gameplay.
Anime and Manga. In recent times my interest has waned but I still watch the occasional series here and there. Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners (Which I found to be rather mediocre) and the very good new season of Bleach. Some other favourites include: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Death Note, Fate;Zero, Psycho Pass , Higurashi (season 2 is a bit weak but the first one is a masterpiece of horror), Code Geass, Attack on Titan and others. My favourite Manga is Berserk...I hope it gets a good ending..the first couple of new chapters were...a bit rough but the new author seems to have got his footing.
Anyway, that should be enough information to give you a good picture... Before I go, I would like to ask for you to include the title of the last book you read in your reply. A small request, I feel. I'll be ignoring those that don't.

2023.06.08 06:34 The_Multiplication2 Best way to level up weapons without stress?

Just bought modern warfare 2 recently but so far I have tried multiplayer and it’s been stressful since I’m not as good as other players, are there any methods I should be using for spec ops or dmz?

2023.06.08 05:42 F3vor Help With Blurry Grass

Self Explanatory. Is there a specific option I need to change to make my grass look sharper? Is this an anti-aliasing thing? Some help would be appreciated. Here is a link to what my grass looks like in game. I am using Ominous ENB and Northern Grass.

2023.06.08 05:40 Aguycalled3030 Is my account hacked or did my game glitch?

I logged onto Modern Warfare II today and saw that I has 124 Trophies (I had like 80 before) and for some reason had some of the event mastery camo challenges I hadn’t done yet completed. Did I get lucky and have the game glitch or is their a hacker in my cod account who decided to be a bro and instead of selling my account or banning it. just did challenges for me?

Please help game crashes after 1-10 minutes every time I launch game.
My game crashes every time 1-10 minutes after I launch it let alone get in a game. This is the only game I have ever had crash on me and I’ve tried everything I can think of and have found online. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled scanned and repair reset to a certain video card driver closed background apps and everything. I’ve resorted to just waiting for updates to the game in hopes it would fix the issue but nothing. Please if someone has any suggestions please let me know.

2023.06.08 04:57 scruffynerfherder38 If you've ever felt like you could use a weirdo friend, go ahead and hit that message button.

Ladies, gentlemen and my often forgotten, but not by me, M109A6 Paladin SPHs, welcome to my post.
This is my attempt at looking for friendship and possibly more because I would love to have some human connections in my life.
So a bit about me:
I'm an absolute tomboy and I've been one for quite some time, For me that means:
I've short naturally wavy hair that is usually a complete mess, I usually only really bother doing anything more with it on fancy occasions and even then that's rare.
I mostly wear guys clothes with the occasional yoga pants or tank tops thrown in.
I don't wear makeup either, I've thrown away everything quite a while ago and I won't be going back to it.
I was raised in a conservative household to be a "good christian" girl, but I've a complete potty mouth, I know that a lot of guys especially here in the south have a problem with that.
I'm really into personal fitness and lifting so there is a good chance my arms are bigger than yours! :P
Other quick appearance things to get it out of the way:
Nowwww with appearance out of the way let's get down to the meat of things, personality:
This is the really important part.
I'm as mentioned above an athletic person, I love sports more than anything and that has been the theme for most of my life. I go to the gym regularly and here are some sports I do or used to do. I will mark active stuff with a *
I'm obviously, like most people on here I think, a gamer. I've built my own PC and I'm always up for nerdy talk about that. Favorites include:
I'm also quite a bit into firearms and own a few, I would appreciate somebody who is also atleast pro-2A or a fellow gun owner. I like to participate in competitions or the odd hunting trip.
I'm also pretty big into airsoft and I think that would be a fun thing to do together.
I'm super into riding my bike and managed to be in 2 crashes already so maybe that's a funny story to tell.
I'm currently in college and want to be a LEO after that, so you should be open to that.
I'm a very blunt and honest person, some people can't deal with that.
A perfect evening for me would be eating a good barbecue or something great burgers, drinking some beer and watching a movie, a football game or playing something together.
Other random interests include working on cars and other mechanical things, building stuff out of wood and metal, exploring nature, traveling and more.
That's all I have, looking forward to some great chats.

2023.06.08 03:26 RileyFonza How important is individual marksmanship is in suppression tactics?

This was inspired by the below article.
https://www.reddit.com/WarCollege/comments/7sxujh/does_the_skill_of_individuals_in_martial_arts_and/
Be sure to read it because its inter-related with this topic.
With that said, I am very curious. How important is the skill of each individual soldier in suppression tactics? My uncle is a marine and he tells me before they even go into stuff like fire and maneuver every marine is required to master the fundamentals of marksmanship with an M16. However from his field manuals he allowed me to read because I was curious, it seems that fire and maneuver tactics are heavily based on pinning down an enemy with superior firepower with one squad and than sending the other squad to go around the enemy and shoot them at their exposed flanks. In fact one of the stuff mentioned that it takes hundreds of bullets just to kill a single insurgent hiding in a house and the bullet that finally gets him is fired from his flanks (often from behind towards his rear) by the marine squad that sneaked around his field of view.
Recently as a result of the linked post, I got into an argument with a few users about how important personal skill with weapons such as swords were in battle in addition to formations tactics. Eventually a few of them brought up modern military relying on discipline and formation tactics and I brought up my uncle's quote about the USMC requiring training to hone marksmanship in its troops. The argument is still ongoing but I am curious about how important individual skill is in suppression tactics because of some of the responses I seen in the PM chats.
Indeed if one plays an accurate military simulator such as ARMA or watches accurate war movies such as Saving Private Ryan, it seems like they always are simply firing at the direction the enemy soldier is at and wasting lots of bullets while a single soldier is commanded by the officer to sneak around the enemy soldier and finally nails him.
They show it as though only one soldier needs to be trained in marksmanship and everyone else simply has to point their guns at the general location the troop is hiding and keep on firing nonstop until the man given the order nails him (often from a somewhat far location that is not obvious to the enemy soldier). Indeed the soldier often given the order to flank is the marksman of the small squad, often even using a sniper rifle as his prime weapon.
However I remember one of the manuals mentions even using something like an M2A1.50, it is required by the USMC to hone markamanship to a specific level and the training shown in the non-manual books my uncle has shows M2A1 guys practising hitting human targets at a distance. Hell I recalled a video on youtuve showing army guys on humvees shooting their stationary guns at target while the vehicle is moving.
So thats why I ask this question. If the standard tactic is simply to use overwhelming fire power to suppress an enemy and pin him down, why isn't it enough to have a single men or two attain Olympic level marksmanship and have him flank and kill the enemy? Why equip most troops with M16s well in fact suppression is far better with heavier calibur M2A1s and BARs?
Is marksmanship important when trying to pin an enemy down with overwhelming firepower? I mean considering even as far as the 19th century, they were already training soldiers how to hit targets with a gattling gun far away despite warfare being based on mass formation tactics. So this makes me assume you can't just start firing from a humvee and expect to pin down enemies just by shooting at the general location they are at?
Movies and games makes it seem like soldiers are even trying to bother hitting the enemy forces pinned behind a car or some barricade. Instead they look like they're just firing nonstop at the general direction. Some movies and games don't even show soldiers using their iron sights to aim at the hiding enemies, just firing from their hip where they think the enemy is hiding.
Its been months since I last talked to my uncle so I'll ask him about this. However I'm impatient and am eager to get my curiosity quenched. Why bother training troops in their individual marksmanship skill if they are primarily going to suppress an enemy (and probably not hit them in the process)? Why not just trained a few individuals who will do the suppression to master levels of marksmanship? Why bother training troops with heavy inaccurate guns like the M2A1 and BAR in basic marksmanship if the weapon's point is to send overwhelming firepower that will rip any barricade apart and since they are used mostly in suppression and for fending off human waves (where hordes of enemies are so exposed and running at you that you can just fire randomly and you'll take many of them out)?
I mean there is even a requirement to hone skills with a pistol according to one book which I can't understand. Why bother training with even useless pistol if M16s is the primary arms?

2023.06.08 02:23 EntropicPenguin Hyper Advanced Techniques In Combatting Ruzzian Disinformation

To many of us, NAFO is a place to make memes that bonk on Ruzzia cause it makes them look bad and boosts the moral of our brothers and sisters fighting in Ukraine. This is good, keep it up.
What I want to discuss, is how we can use the cyberspace to cause massive impacts with regards to undermining Ruzzian propaganda and by extension, support for the Ruzzian regime.
The topics I will discuss will make this post quite lengthy and it may seem on the surface that the points I a making are irrelevant or that I am taking a very long winded approach in order to get to the ultimate points I am making - but I will do my best to communicate the key components of each topic and why they are all related.
If that's okay with you, read on and buckle up - we're going to be covering a lot of intermediate and heavy topics first before we can get to the good stuff.
--------
Before we get started, I want to give you my perspective on how I see the World, the Universe and everything around me (yes, just bare with me...).
The Universe is this great big mathematical object. I theorised this some years ago, only to realise that a much better physicist than myself had the same idea with far superior backing and research for the theory than I ever could have applied (The Mathematical Universe Hypothesis - Max Tegmark, 2014).
The best that we can observe is that there are these little spikes of data representing what we understand to be subatomic atomic particles from the Standard Model within these spaces called "Quantum Fields". Actually - these particles aren't so much individual particles themselves, the particle is the excitation in that Quantum field. These excitations follow very rigorous mathematical laws - they won't change unless there is some external stimuli that affects them. When these excitations coalesce due to the physical laws of our Universe, we say that these particles have formed larger structures such as Pions, Hadrons and even Atoms. These atoms go on to form larger structures such as planets, stars, cellular life and the human brain.
All this is to impress upon you the idea that everything, absolutely everything, is the product of mathematical determinism. Even if we consider the probabilistic nature that Quantum Mechanics implies, this is in itself is a deterministic construct if we were to consider that probabilities are determined by the nature of the events leading up to the new event as yet to be determined - further, many scientists reason that this is evidence for a "Multiverse theory". Personally, I speculate that the probabilistic appearance of the Quantum world is indicative of axial dimensions that are additional to the classical x, y, z, t dimensions most of us are probably use to.
Regardless, the point remains. You do not have free will. No matter how much you may or may not want to believe it - Everything you are, everything you believe, everything you know, is a product of everything else that has happened before you.
"If the moon, in the act of completing its eternal way around the earth, were gifted with self-consciousness, it would feel thoroughly convinced that it was traveling its way of its own accord on the strength of a resolution taken once and for all. So would a Being, endowed with higher insight and more perfect intelligence, watching man and his doings, smile about man's illusion that he was acting according to his own free will." - Albert Einstein
The "decisions" you make are not so much a choice you ever really had, but the manifestation of the synapses in your brain responding to external stimulation.
---
To think about the Brain for our purposes, we need to think about it as a physical object. This object, and the conclusions it makes about the world around it, can be influenced, guided, manipulated and/or programmed. In a funny sort of a way it can kind of be thought of as a computer...
We are the products of our environmental conditioning - the events of everything that has happened before us and all the events that have shaped our experiences, make us who we are today.
Nature plays its part of course, nurture is nature. Both genetics and epigenetics will play significant roles in how we interact with the world; but consider this:
If a baby born to Chinese parents were to be adopted at birth and raised in Houston, Texas, will they speak English or Mandarin? I suspect that they will probably end up speaking English with a thick Texan accent, and that they may also find it difficult to identify many persons of Chinese origin due to a lack of exposure they have had to Asiatic faces.
“Give me just one generation of youth, and I'll transform the whole world.” - Vladimir Lenin
The stimuli that affects the brain can come from all forms of external sources. It will manifest itself by the way that we literally sense the world - every sight we see, every sound we hear, every smell, every touch, every temperature variable, every pattern we recognise. Recognising this and understanding how this relates to shaping the very experiences and views that people have of the world is the key to understanding how and why people believe what they believe.
---
Belief is a natural product of human evolution. There are no papers on this - this is my own theory, but I would bank a lot of money on it if I had any.
Imagine a hypothetical scenario in cave man times to keep things simple. Tribe A and Tribe B are at war with each other. Tribe A aren't the most abstract of thinkers, but they are all united on a common belief that Tribe B are "bad dumb-dumbs" that need their heads bonking. Tribe B, meanwhile, are arguing and debating amongst themselves about the ethics in their approach to fighting Tribe A and about who's method amongst themselves is the best to be adopted when dealing with the Tribal War Issue. Unless Tribe B can be unanimous and expedient in developing their strategy for dealing with Tribe A, then their advantage of greater capacity for abstract thought will be rendered effectively useless - Tribe A will wipe the floor with them (I'm looking at you Ancient Greece).
Human beings, for the most part, have a natural propensity for adopting belief systems irrespective of irrefutable evidence. Evolution does not require you to consistently choose and believe the objective truth. Evolution only cares that you adopt the strategy that is most likely to increase your survival, and more specifically, the survival of your group whom are likely to share similar genetic material as you. Belief, regardless of objective truth, is therefore a survival strategy in and of itself - the underlying strategy of which being to obtain social unity and cohesion.
In reality, a groups survival will depend upon a multitude of factors - but this survivability will increase if that group has many different members more capable of different skills and different kinds of abstract reasoning. It's why the concept of "Time and Motion" works, why the cells in our bodies all function to serve unique purposes, why symbiotic relationships in the animal kingdom work so effectively... Our collective capabilities, and therefore our odds of survival, are increased when individual members are able to specialise in areas the group as a whole can benefit from. We are very much a social animal - Mother Nature has dictated that we should be this way.
[As a side note: This also adds into my theory for why Autism in many is not so much a disability, but rather an evolutionary strategy that makes the neurological trade-off in the autist themselves that sacrifices social capabilities for increased pattern recognition and abstract awareness. Their social skills are not required if the group is well off enough and able to take care of them - the autistic person is able to provide a level of abstract thought and reasoning that can provide technology with the capability of increasing the groups probability of survival massively.]
For more information on this topic, I thoroughly recommend this Ted-talk on Homosexuality and Epigenetics.

"Neuro-Linguistic Programming" (or simply "NLP") is, more or less, an applied science on how language and communication techniques can be used to influence (other people as well as ourselves). It is a "science"* that is exploited immensely in the fields of sales and marketing (*long story, some people hold the opinion it is a pseudo-science). NLP is used by psychologists and hypnotists and what it boils down to is the idea that communication techniques (as well as the utilisation of intelligently placed external stimuli) can be used to influence people into certain ways of thinking.
NLP can be used, and has been used, to alleviate people of their phobias. NLP is used to provide therapy for people to overcome trauma and depression. NLP is used to sell products. NLP can be used to convince people into sleeping with you. NLP can be used to manipulate large swathes of people into believing what you want them to believe. NLP can be used to elicit emotions like happiness, sadness, anger and practically any other emotion you can think of. It is used to achieve results. It is used, by those with the inclination to do so, as a means to achieve the outcomes from people that they themselves want to see in them. The most common use of NLP is in by making you believe that a choice you've made is the result of your deciding on a matter, and not the result of some smart fucker hacking into your neurological programming.
NLP is a tool. It is neither good nor bad. How it is used provides the basis for our own subjections as to whether something has been used for "Good" or "Evil".
Remember that the brain is just an object that is malleable and can be influenced by external stimuli? This is what it is about. Along with another field called Behavioral Economics, NLP is about controlling the perceptions and behavior of people - Behavioral Economics is the same thing but on a large scale. Just as Sales is to the Marketeer, NLP is to the Behavioral Economist.
---
This is propaganda. Now do you understand me? The underlying objective is to assist the propagandist in their (or their Masters') objective to attain, or retain control of, Power. The means by which they do this is by calculating the most effective ways to achieve the results that most fit their desired outcome. Do we want more people to quit smoking? Let's make legislation so that packs of cigarettes must have NSFL imagery on them so more people have an adverse negative reaction and association to it. Do we want Western nations to be divided so as to undermine their internal security? Let's pump out reactionary memes and propaganda to outrage the people and polarise the population into demonizing "the other side".
"Divide et Impera" - Latin: Divide and Rule - sometimes translated as "Divide and Conquer", Antiquity
Do we want to win the election by any means necessary irrespective of the values of freedom and democracy? Let's use AI technology to send out specific messages via social media designed to bring about strong emotional responses in those with the potential to be galvanized to voting in our favour, and other messages designed to make those who would vote against us apathetic to the voting process.*
"The greatest danger to our future is apathy." - Jane Goodall
[*This actually happened in 2016 during the Brexit and Trump Election campaigns using technology by a company called Cambridge Analytica - it's a wild story in and of itself, so check it out if it interests you.]
Do we want to convince the population that, what would otherwise be considered an unjustified war, is entirely necessary for our defense and security? 9/11 Let's blow up an some apartment blocks, kill hundreds of civilians, and use this as a justification to invade Chechnya!
Minds can be controlled. People can be manipulated. The results of these manipulations have real world effects and are very much considered by top military analysts as being major components of modern warfare along with other little known dimensions of conflict such as espionage, economic and political interference.
---
What happens when you train an Artificial Intelligence algorithm into identifying and producing propaganda unique to an individual?
To do this effectively, you'd need data... a lot of data... petabytes upon petabytes of data... both to train the AI algorithm in identifying the psychological makeup of a person and to train the algorithm into understanding what kinds and forms of stimuli are going to be most effective when trying to influence this kind of person. How would you do this? You'd need some kind of platform with an unfathomable amount of human resources.
Now imagine you have an application, with the structural architecture for keylogging, that aggressively harvests data from users phones, with a known history to censor content critical of authoritarian regimes, and has over 1 Billion active monthly users...
... what do you think they're going to be using all that data for?
For the love of all that is FUCKING good in this world. STOP. USING. TIKTOK.
---
We are up against individuals who are hellbent on their own power. These people will use the technology I have discussed to manipulate as many people as possible in ways that most suit them. They will divide us. They will make us apathetic, or they will galvanize us into blindly supporting policies or actions that suit them. Their fight is for control over hearts and minds - they had no intention of alleviating you of your chains, only replacing them with shackles they alone hold the key to.
---
By all means, carry on bonking vatniks with your clubs and your sticks when they carelessly wonder upon our turf - I certainly don't object... but I have the basis for a toolkit to help you develop highly accurate strategic information missiles to help you make significant impacts in the places where it most matters.
When you are making memes to combat Ruzzian disinformation, think about who the meme is for... is the meme for other fellas so we can fratbro with each other confirming what we already know and how great we all are? Well, you'd be preaching to the crowd... ofc we're fucking awesome! We haven't necessarily convinced anyone else of that though and we might have even pissed off some vatniks hard enough they want to go out there way to use slimey techniques to underhand us...
Maybe the memes we make could be aimed at those who are falling victim to Ruzzian (and Chinese) propaganda... maybe we could take a calculated approach to consider exactly what is going to be most effective method in dispelling the beliefs held by those who are sympathetic to Ruzzia. Maybe we can talk to people in such a way that gets them to change their minds.
Remember: the mind is malleable - it is a programmable object, we're not trying to program people with our own ideas, we are trying to alleviate people that have had virus's infect theirs.
---
We don't have to be looking at those spouting Ruzzian bs like vile creatures and enemies... if you're friend had a brain tumour, would you hate your friend or the cancer? (Fuck Cancer).
There's a good chance we will be more effective with removing the cancer from peoples minds if we adopt a position that is explicitly non-hostile. Imagine, from their point of view, what it would be to convince them to rethink their world-view. For the vast majority of those on the opposing side, they will need a way out accepting that they have done wrong in their lives without fear of being treated as a pariah (this is why the forgiveness and "born-again" narrative works so well for so many religions) - of course we want to treat them like pariahs because of the hurt we and our people have endured; but I ask you, what is better: hating on someone who is helping to push the Ruzzian narrative or letting it go and maybe having one less vatnik to worry about?
Our true enemies after all are those pulling the strings on the marionettes we see before us. To them, we should also be measured since they are likely calculated but with their own interests in mind.

To develop the perfect memes for our cause, you need to consider:
When dealing with victims of Vatnik propaganda in person, you need to let them know that you are their friend and not like all the propaganda has led them to believe about you. Be NICE!
You can use techniques from NLP in order to communicate more effectively, but do it responsibly, it is not a tool to be abused.
In time I will try and develop this system so it is easier and more succinct to follow for your regular everyday normal fella. For now, and for those of you who have been brave enough to read this far, I have given you the underlying framework for understanding how communication can be used as a tool to directing people into a directed frame of thinking.
What I'm really trying to impose upon you more than anything else is the idea that we should be thinking strategically about our methods for addressing the issues of Ruzzian disinformation. Consider exactly what it is you want to achieve in combating misinformation and calculate the most effective means of communication in order to achieve it.

2023.06.08 02:14 dardardarner First time Apex player here, any tips and things I need to know?

First off, I wanna start by saying I have SOME experience with Online FPS games, but not something as fast paced as Apex (TF2, Crossfire(idk if anyone still knows that lol)) but other than that I mostly play FPS that are Single Player story games like Halo and Modern Warfare, and I'm also in general not a huge fan of Battle Royale games. With that, I can say I have about average aim, nothing too godlike.
I've recently been watching a streamer (or vtuber) who mostly plays Apex even tho I don't know much about the game. After watching her a bit more, I decided I wanted to try the game for myself because honestly speaking the game looks really fun to play when she plays it.
So I played a bit in the firing range, and got a win on my first game. As of now I have won 3 out of the 10 games. Played Lifeline in all of those games because even if I'm cluelessly walking around, at least I can give some form of support to my team.
I really want to play this game more, so I'm asking for some tips that a newbie like me should know so I can start winning more. Thanks!

2023.06.08 01:22 bigalf82 6800xt Seems Limited

I just upgraded from a 3060 and while I'm seeing some boost, it seems like there should be more. I'm mainly trying to get more out of Modern Warfare 2 and it seems like no matter what I do I'm only getting 100 fps.
i7-12700kf and 32 gp ram. When I check the performance log in adrenaline nothing is maxed out (cpu, gpu, ram, or vram).
I've run ddu, reinstalled the game, made sure that nvidia upscaling is not selected (fsr 2.1 is).
Is there another place that the fps could be limited?

2023.06.08 01:10 Bl1tz-Kr1eg Analysing the Second West Russian War - Who's really got the better chance?

Alright, so this is one of the most furiously debated topics in TNO, and there's a massive range of viewpoints out there, with some great points on both sides. I reckon taking a look at pure stats and numbers, with some other metrics, could give us a fair idea at who's got a better shot at winning.
There's so many scenarios out there but I've settled on one where both sides are moderately successful going into the 70's. For Germany, Fash Speer, and a Zollverein with Iran or the UAR (or both). For Russia, a decently competent unifier like Batov, Suslov, Zhukov, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Irkutsk or Tyumen, but no one too extreme on either end. We'll first assume the 2WRW begins in 1978, giving Russia 6 years post unification to prepare. We'll also assume that no one from the Pakt (bar Finland perhaps) gets involved in any capacity beyond providing supplies, equipment and diplomatic support.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lets look at the numbers
Population/Manpower -
Russia - Assuming average to good population growth, and the annexation of Kazakhstan, at its greatest extent Russia can have a population about 80 million by '78.
Germany - The core territories of Germany have about 150 million by the mid-70s, with the RK's and Poland adding up to another 100 million.
Industry/Economy -
Russia - Russia's industry develops pretty quickly, with added investment from the OFN/Sphere. Siberia being relatively untouched by German bombers and more developed than OTL gives Russia strategic depth. But considering that they underwent about 15 years of nationwide warlordism before this. there's no real competition against the big 3. At best Russia's GDP doesn't even equal Italy's, at about 100 Billion at best by the mid-70s.
Germany - There's been a lot going on here. A crash in the 50's, the oil crisis, the slave revolt. But the restructuring of the economy and the ending of slavery gives Germany quite the economic boom before the Oil crisis hits, and in most runs the German GDP under Speer sits at around 350 Billion by the mid-70s, with the RK's chipping in with another 50 Billion.
Military
Army - By the 70's in most Speer runs the German Army is a well equipped force with modern doctrines. Plus, the 50 division limit is lifted as soon as Germany is at war. The Russian Army, on the other hand, is much larger, and has a wealth of experience due to the warlord era. The only disadvantage here is that the Russian army may not be as well equipped. At the start of the WRW the Russian army is at a slight advantage if they catch the Germans unaware, but the Germans hold the advantage in the long run.
Navy - No comparison. The Kriegsmarine runs circles around the Russian navy.
Air Force - Again, unless Novosibirsk somehow pulls off a miracle, there's no real comparison here.
Supply
Russia - Russia probably produces more than any nation outside the Middle east here. Siberia has vast oilfields that would probably be exploited more than OTL. Russia can also afford to feed its civilians, with Southern siberia being able to produce ample grain.
Germany - Germany has good oil reserves in the Caucasus, although these can be cut off if the Russians catch them off guard. But, there's also access to oil from the Middle East, via Iran, the UAR, or even both. Plus, one of Speer's focuses also begins the exploitation of the North Sea. Ukraine and the Volga provide enough food (presumably) for the Armed forces and the population.
Diplomacy
Russia - Russia's fighting this war alone. Let's be honest. The OFN or CPS may provide material support, but neither would risk going too far against a nuclear armed superpower in Germany.
Germany - The Einheitspakt has the potential to be massive, as does the Zollverein. Even if only Finland (for obvious reasons) gets directly involved in the war, the Germans can count on the material and diplomatic support of up to half of Europe and the Middle east.
Domestic situation
Russia - 15+ years of warlordism, followed by 6-7 years of consolidation and rapid militarisation. You do the math.
Germany - Power struggle, Slave revolt, Oil Crisis. Although, by the Mid-70's, the situation does start to stabilise.
Nukes
Russia - The first Russian nuke comes around 1973. 5-10 at most by the mid 70's.
Germany - Upwards of 10,000.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Partisans.
Of course, the Russian's have one small trick up there sleeves. A partisan uprising could be immensely helpful, particularly if co-ordinated well with a general Russian offensive. Such an uprising would draw away German manpower from the front, and wreak havoc behind enemy lines. Infiltrators from Russia, trained in asymmetric warfare could assist in these operations, using the terrain of Moskowien and the Caucasus to their advantage. It's pretty likely that in some areas partisans could do more damage to German forces than the regular Russian military
Sounds great. But, we're here to have uncomfortable conversations. By the mid-70s, most of the RK's have been under German control for about 30 years. You'd think the Germans would have learned a thing or two about the suppression of partisans. Additionally, consider the fact that even this newly sanitised version of the Wehrmacht does not give a flying fuck about collateral damage, or using unethical methods to achieve a set goal.
Honestly though, the success or failure of partisans is up to how well they can co-ordinate with regular Russian forces, along with how much restraint German forces are (or are not) willing to show. With some luck, it could work, or things could go horribly wrong.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To be honest, the numbers here tell a story. Germany holds some clear advantages, and it wouldn't be unreasonable for most observers in the world of TNO to predict a German victory.
Also consider the fact that the Germans are on the defensive here. The vast majority of the Russian Army, young conscripts and professional soldiers in their 20s and 30s, will have been born after WW2. The Russian army would be invading with outdated maps and intelligence, probably most of it from old Soviet archives from the 30's and 40s, while the Germans would have better insights into the local terrain, and better reconnaissance capabilities overall.
Essentially, Russia's best shot comes from striking fast and early during a moment of weakness and catching the Germans off-guard. The longer the conflict draws out, the stronger the Germans get by virtue of their manpower advantage alone, to say nothing of the technological gap.
The best outcome for Russia would be Moskowien and the Caucasus. Quite frankly, the Germans cannot risk losing any of the other RKs, and I see them using nuclear threats if Ostland or Ukraine are threatened.
The most Germany could realistically push for is the A-A line. Maintaining control of an unstable and expanded East is more than enough, and it's quite possible that Moskowien will cause Germany problems for decades to come.
Either ways, this is just what I make of it from my own analysis of the conflict, based on lore, stats from my own runs, and information from the Devs and community. I'd love to know what you guys think.

2023.06.08 01:02 redditorpegaso Should Movement Speed be Increased and Footstep Audio be Decreased?

Hey soldiers,
I wanted to hear your thoughts on a couple of aspects in Modern Warfare 2: movement speed and footstep audio. Do you think these elements could use some adjustments?
Movement Speed: Do you think the current movement speed feels a bit slow? Would increasing it inject more excitement and fluidity into matches, or do you prefer the current pace?
Footstep Audio: Is the footstep audio too loud? Does it hinder your ability to employ strategic maneuvers or surprise opponents? Would toning it down slightly enhance the gameplay experience?
I understand that realism is an important aspect of the Modern Warfare series, but striking a balance between realism and fun is crucial. Share your opinions and let's discuss how these potential changes could impact the overall enjoyment of the game.
