Prologue

Scene 1

This is our first introduction to the Snake storyline. It consists of a train of refugee children who are fleeing the provinces of Kolanse and are heading west. We are at the Elan Plain and the leader of this column of children is the oldest boy there, Rutt, aged about 13 or 14. He carries a small baby called Held while making sure she is protected from the sun by wrapping her well. Most of our PoV here is Badalle- a girl with green eyes and a way with words. The landscape is very desolate and it looks like Rutt is surprised every morning that they 'still live.'
Badalle describes various people/animals etc using unusual words. You can figure out most on your own, but could be a little frustrating, so if you would like to know-
Ribbers are dogs, Fathers are adults, Quitters/bones skins/Inquisitors are Forkrul Assail
She has come up from the south along Stump Road to join the rest of the Snake. She considers Rutt as the head of the snake and its fangs too. None of the children ask him where they are headed because it is the belief that he knows that is important.
We get the PoV of a 14 year old Visto who knows what the Fathers do to the children they steal away at night, because he has seen small bones in their campfires. The boy is full of a parasite called Satra Riders which would sooner or later burst out and kill him. He is impatient for the relief of death, and hopes atleast a ribber eats him and gets infected.
At the end of the day, Badalle looks back at the line of bodies of dead children they have left behind. The Snake of ribs is called Chal Managal in the Elan tongue. Don't skip her poems.

Scene 2

In the Wastelands, there is a nest of K'Chain Che'Malle called Ampelas Rooted. Our PoV here is the last surviving Elan tribal called Kalyth. When her settlement was attacked she fled the scene and feels guilty about her selfishness in abandoning her family. Alonmgside, we get description of this nest where the lower level is called Root, then Feed (where food is grown in the form of fungi and orthen- a type of rodents) then the Womb (where young ones undergo surgeries and are differentiated into factions according to the needs of the Nest), then to Heart which is guarded by Ve'Gath soldiers (these are purely for warfare and the Matron has been producing a lot of them, indicating that war is coming soon). From there she moves to Eyes, Inner Keep, Acyl Nest - home of the Matron. The final guard she meets is Brenigan, a 1000 year old J'an sentinel.
Sag'Churok and Gunth Mach have returned, and they report failure. Redmask was not the correct choice, and that Kalyth, who is acknowledged as a Destriant to the K'Chain, has made an error in choosing him. She, alongwith a small group of Guardians, is instructed to join this round of Seeking. She refuses but the Matron is adamant that they will find a Mortal Sword and Shield Anvil among humans. The adventure party consists of Sag'Churok, Gunth Mach, 2 more K'ell Hunters and a Shi'gal Assassin. The addition of the Assassin probably indicates that the Matron means business this time.
Quick note about the Shi'gal- there are always three present with the Matron because 2 alone might conspire among themselves and kill the Matron or each other. Sending away one of the Assassins is a huge risk, so maybe the Matron is descending into madness.
By spending all this time with the K'Chain, Kalyth has been given the gifts of their language and a higher percipience through oils.
Shi'gal Gu'Rull is sure that the Matron Acyl is insane. He considers humans, especially Kalyth, as weak. Since they returned empty handed from the west (Redmask), and the North is a realm of ice, they are to journey South. He takes off to do some advance scouting. He is flying out of Ampelas after 8 short centuries.

Scene 3

At the Wastelands, a ghost travels with a small group. They eat stringy meat from scaled rodents and a type of rhizan. As a ghost he flits from one person to the next and finds innate resolve and strength.
Sheb declares that all empty lands are useless and one day all cities should be merged into one. Last, who is a farmer, says that there won't be food if there are no farms. Before they can argue, Asane tells them not to fight. Sheb yells at her and Nappet defends her. He threatens to cut out his tongue because he knows nobody would object. Rautos (yes, familiar name) complains about his wife. Breath thinks he killed his wife by holding her underwater and drowning her. Drowning seeme to be her pet subject. At a distance they notice a massive narrow edifice. Taxilian (yes, another familiar name) wants to go check it out. The ghost is content to go alongwith them. He finds that Taxilian's curiosity is strong enough to overcome any misgivings from the others.

the capemoths overhead note a lone, green skinned figure who talks with seven voices. He carries a sword but is naked and he is lost, maybe for weeks, maybe months. Many of us miss this and so the rest of the Ghost sections can be very confusing

Scene 4

After a long time we meet Heboric. He has plenty of visions.

A short tail K'Chain looking at a dragon nailed to a huge wooden lattice, with the nails painted a "rust colour". The dragon is denied death and has been bleeding and suffering, while the short tail seems satisfied.
Two wolves watch him from a ridge as he walks towards a number of statues in the distance.
Overhead there are drifting stars from which faint voices are heard. As he stares he is unbalanced and floats up.
Looking down, he sees more stars which give up a dozen suns of green fire that grew in size and sound as it neared him.
He sees Fener, a cast down god who is trapped like him. Both are in the way of the jade suns. Heboric accepts all of it as "The Abyss cares nothing for us."

To end this prologue, here is a quote from Heboric, speaking in the voice of "his enemy", i.e. the Abyss.

Behold, my friends, I am justice.
And when at last we meet, you will not like it.
And if irony awakens in you at the end, see me weep with these tears of jade, and answer with a smile.

I commented: Even Tia Ballard talked about Raiha's ponytail in the English VA dub commentary for S01E01. The ponytail is indeed important. Raiha's ponytail has the same importance as Itsuki's ahoge.

[Wait, 2 interpretations: Either MasakakiKairi_v2 is Alex Jones and then I'm the 1 who's putting Uesugi's in the story or I'm Alex Jones and then I'm saying Negi Haruba is putting Uesugi's in the story. I guess it's the latter interpretation since the title is 'Nicbentulan Jones'.]

I actually looked up 'Alex Jones frogs gay' and then clipped the frogs thing here: Alex Jones says the chemicals in water turn the frogs gay (latest 2018?).
- MasakakiKairi_v2 truly is a genius. Notice the parallel of (chemicals, water, frogs) = (Uesugi's, story, quints) and in particular the utilisation of my using 'Uesugi' to confusingly mean Raiha instead of Fuutarou puzzle/lame joke. (Without love, it cannot be seen. Or With love, it can be seen.) People would think 'Why would the quints be gay for "Uesugi" when Fuutarou Uesugi is male and the quints are female?' In this case, MasakakiKairi_v2 really says plural Uesugi's, not singular Uesugi, sooo.... (Then again MasakakiKairi_v2 does say the plural quints, when I have only in mind Itsuki to be inclusively homosexual, sooo eh.)
- If anyone ever considers me a even 1/10 of a genius, then it's because I stood on the shoulders of giants like MasakakiKairi_v2, hyperknees91, UnKarl_Marx, Tusk_Act_IV, k4r6000, Invincybul, ImmortalPharaoh, SyliciX, P_U_T_T_Y and those other people I asked about for my theory. And of course the giants who thought of theories and stuff when the manga was still ongoing eg marcm28 in Fuutarou Will Marry Nino The Most Obvious Clues!

- Anyway, I'm antifragile, as Nassim Nicholas Taleb (NNT) would say, like a put option or Yotsuba: The lower the stock price goes the better. The more downvotes I get all the sweeter it will be if I’m later right. But if I’m wrong, then I’m just wrong. No amount of downvotes is going to make things, like, more bitter or something. - The asymmetry) favours me: Just 1 confirmation from Negi Haruba is all I need. But a decade of silence from Negi Haruba won't disprove me. It's all devil's proof like Higurashi/Umineko. There's no way you can prove 'all swans are white' from just observing white swans. But just 1 black swan disproves the statement.

Weirdly enough this theory/hypothesis itself I find is pretty antifragile. The more I try to disprove it, eg trying to find out what Itsuki's type is, the more I end up finding more evidence for this theory.

so i started working at a chipotle near me a couple of weeks ago, and since i started working there's been a lot of red flags. first off, i never went through any formal training procedures (though i'm not even sure chipotle has them?) like a store walk-through, training videos, and of that. immediately on my first shift (i've been working prep) i was put onto the fryer to make chips even though i was never taught/told how to properly use the fryer. i have food-service experience but i've never had to work on a fryer or anything, and i was literally just told about the salt/lime that had to be added once they were done. i've ALSO never been formally trained on how to use chipotle's register system or the menu. today i was told to run both line and register while my coworker (who had been on line) was on her break. i have NEVER been taught about the procedures for each item, or how to properly go through the process of making an order.

on top of this, i feel very unsupported by my coworkers and management team. just as an example, when i asked a coworker a question about the register, he literally rolled his eyes at me as if it was supposed to be an obvious answer. i've gotten similar responses from other workers, and management hasn't been too receptive about my asking for help/training.

i guess i'm wondering if this is the experience for all new employees (not a lot of training) or if i'm missing something. because at this point i'm feeling like this job isn't worth my time if my concerns aren't even being heard, and i think i would easily find work somewhere else. does anyone have any advice? sorry i know this was a lot but i'm feeling really anxious about all of this.

to make a long story short, this woman came in to return something. she uses Santander bank and when i issued her refund, a error message came up. she then proceeds to explain that she always has issues with her santander bank card when getting refunds from ulta and that we have to do a dummy return. i never heard of a dummy return and I’ve been working at ulta for nearly 18 months + im a lead so i was trying to ask her what she meant. she gets irritated with me which is like ??? cause lady this is ur bank’s problem not mine like im just trying to understand and then she says that we do dummy returns all the time. and in my head im just like “well why didn’t u go to ur usually store then since this happens all the time?” i call a manager over to help and they’re just as confused cause we never heard of a dummy return before. i guess she meant that we could search for her card info in the system but ulta doesn’t do that. so my manger basically had to do a no receipt return to bypass the system so it’d give her the option to put it on her card rather than a merch card. but that woman was being such a bitch because we simply didn’t understand. at one point i processed her other return and i handed her the receipt and said “I just need you to sign this line” and passive aggressively she says “well im gonna need a pen first 🙄” just as i was grabbing a pen for her. just rude ugh. but has anyone ran into this problem with santander bank?

Hi all, I bough a CPU i5 12400F, 16gb Kingston Ram and a Gigabyte Motherboard B760M DS3H DDR4 to upgrade my system.
What happens its that many times (every day) the CPU usage is huge - very above normal - even not using heavy programs that justifies that. Many times, I check task manager, and the CPU usage, is very high, when I was just on Windows folders, and browsing - nothing more. It reaches easily 60/70% CPU usage, and sometimes even 80/90/100% with no reason. Different task's, makes the CPU reaches almost the limit - check the pics. Even "Windows explorer" task, sometimes reaches 50-60% CPU usage, I’ve check that many times on Task manager. This happen with no apparent reason, I do not use heavy software. And with the exact same kind of usage, with my last PC which were half powerful and with half ram ( a 9400F with 8Gb Ram) Never had this issues, neither, a so high CPU usage. Since this CPU is double powerful in all aspects, wasn't expectable that the CPU, on the same kind of use, works with less effort and have less CPU usage?! Even the Windows Restart's/Boot, were more quick with my oldest Setup than on this Setup ( and I’ve already activate the Fast Boot on Bios). The only difference were, that my previous motherboard was an MSI ( a very low end H310M PRO-M2 PLUS model), and this actual one its a "new" Gigabyte B760M DS3H DDR4 model. Could the motherboard model/Brand are making all of this underperformance and issues ? At normal use, i can say, that i can't notice any kind of performance improvement with this new Setup ( that is twice powerful) I only do feel a better performance on games, but I’m a casual gamer, and i almost play CS:GO, and less more. The real difference is that with this Cup/mobo, anything I do reaches high CPU and energy usage very easily.
I have Windows Fresh install, no Virus, Adware. Bios Updated to last firmware. No background running programs. Just Windows 10 64bit with the essential's.
Other problem is the High CPU FAN RPM's ( and noise, obviously ). I know that the Stock Fans were not the most quiet, but for many years, i never bought an aftermarket Cooler, since I don't use heavy software, and even gaming I don’t play heavy CPU games, so the stock cooler is more than enough for the needs, and I’ve checked a review/noise test comparison on YouTube, and my Fan doesn't perform near close to that: https://youtu.be/yhKBABCfmpk?t=240 , and note, the CPU and cooler its the same. I wish, my Fan run so smoothly and constant, and specially so quiet like the one on the video.
This video show's a "little" of the random RPM's i am talking about, with windows idle, closed programs, just opening/switching between folder's, but I can say that usually is worst than the video, and phone mic it not capture the best sound, personally the FAN noise is much more aggressive, and usually the RPM'S are worst, (VERY) annoying and uncomfortable, Specially at night : https://streamable.com/523h6e
The CooleFan just ramp up quickly to High RPM's, by no reason and completely randomly, like if i were using the CPU with really heavy programs. Sometimes by just opening a Browser tab or a Folder is enough to listen the Fan ramping up Hard - what its not normal. And the most weird, is that the Fan randomly changes RPM's frequently. By itself, the CPU CooleFan is not quiet, but actually is running very above normal and making a lot of noise - much above the usual. The Fan could be working at 1500RPM'S, but by no reason, changes to 2000/2200RPM'S, sometimes 3000RPM'S - while using Windows - once again; no heavy programs, just windows, folders, and browsing. Fan randomly and constantly changes RPM'S , never stays idle, like the CPU are. At night, is almost impossible, stay with the PC turned ON.
Its not the 1st time, that i have the PC turned on, but I’m not using it. I sit on my bedroom, at some PC distance, and I listen the FAN ramping up Hard... like !?!? I'm not even using the PC lol its on idle, there are no programs running. How the Fan ramp up like if i was using the CPU heavily ? PS: I have my PC Case well good refrigerated ( tbh, due to this problem, and to test, the PC Case is opened - No differences ).
PS: I configured and tested FAN Profiles on Bios, and its on a Silent/Manual smooth Fan curve, even so the result, is what I’ve explained. Since, if I let the default Profile "Normal Fan", the problem is even worst, and the noise its impossible to stay near the PC, it's almost an airplane noise. But even with a very smooth Fan curve, I can hear the fan a LOT . But the Random RPM's ramp up's and down, even with a manual smooth Fan curve remains exactly the same. The Fan constantly changes RPM's (hardly), looks like and F1 car motor on a race lol.
I spend lot of hours testing ( I have some IT experience ), searching, reading, and I cannot find any solution, neither what could be the problem root. To me, should be a faulty motherboard, or CPU, but I make tests to the CPU, and on all of them everything seems ok, so, i think that the problem could be the motherboard. I've contacted Intel and nothing were detected. I've contacted Gigabyte and they just simple ignore the questions, they just told me to take the board to warranty – No troubleshooting, no help, nothing !
The questions is to, trying to know the cause of this issues, since I still have the chance to return mobo and CPU, and change for a better and stable hardware choices. But firstly I need to know and understand which device is causing troubles, if the CPU, if the Board. And my budget it's not very high, so, I would like to replace the part that is causing issues.
Do you consider Gigabyte a good motherboard brand for low/mid end range? It's the 1st time i give a chance to Gigabyte, usually i buy MSI, and honestly i was happy with motherboard's, and with the UEFI BIOS . But honestly i doesn't like the BIOS at all, and with this issues, makes me very sceptical to Gigabyte, at the same time I also feel like this motherboard doesn't have much stability ( i could be wrong). I bought this Gigabyte Mobo due to the price point, and they bring heatsink on (half) VRM and a heatsink to the SSD M.2 Nvme... Maybe i was caught by the Brand marketing. I have a Gigabyte Graphic Card and no issues, runs well. But for low/mid end motherboards, Gigabyte could not be the best option. I'm thinking to return this motherboard since i have 2more days to do it, and buy an MSI again or a Asus. But the last MSI I have was 3years ago, don't know how are they now. My last MSI was an H310M PRO-M2 PLUS, a super entry level motherboard, but always worked Flawlessly with a great performance and stability, and with a very Good UEFI BIOS and configuration options !
Is it from Windows ? Motherboard issues ? the CPU ?
If anyone got ideas, from what can be, I would appreciate. Since I search and tested everything and don't find nothing that tells me the cause.

Me and my family just recently moved into a new neighborhood. The first month was no problem from neighbors. A month later one afternoon I was sitting in front of my house in my car and all of sudden a woman comes out of nowhere and proceeds to bang on my driver side car window. I rolled my window down a little bit to speak and she then accuses me by saying she saw me hitting my neighbors bricks who lives directly next door to me and driving on their grass. I told her she was mistaken and that I never hit anyones bricks. She then proceeds to blow her cigarette smoke in my car. I then get out of the car and speak to her as I don't want her to continually blow her cigarette smoke in my car. I then asked her where she lives and she tells me she lives at the corner house while still blowing her cigarette smoke in my face. It seemed like she was doing all of this out of pettiness but as we were new to the neighborhood I decided not to start and argument and just politely ended the conversation. She then walks down to the corner house and turns the corner to another street. I thought nothing of it until a week later come to find out she doesn't live at the corner house and that she actually lives directly cross the street from me. I had hardly seen her or crossed paths so when she initially came up to my car I had no idea who this woman was. Please stay with me because this is where the madness begins. A week later I was leaving out for work. Now mind you I park my car on the street in front of my house sometimes and as you know you sometimes have to drive in a neighbors driveway when parking on the street to turn around. I did just that but instead of using the neighbors across the street driveway (cigarette lady) I decided to use the neighbor who lives directly next door to her to avoid any problems with cigarette lady since she lied and accused me of something I didn't do. As I was driving in this lady's driveway (who lives next door to cigarette lady) I ENSURED I didn't drive on her grass since again me and my family are new to the street and also since the cigarette lady has already made up a lie about me driving on someone else's grass I didn't want anymore problems. As I drove in her driveway was I went slow and made sure I didn't drive all the way in her driveway only up to the sidewalk. This lady then runs out her back door and comes up to her gate and yells something at me. I rolled my windows down and asked her what did she say because I didn't hear her. She then says "Don't get on my motherfucking grass". I was in complete shock. Because I made sure I wasn't on her grass and that I drove slow. I then say to her "You don't have to speak to me like that I never met you. You're being very ignorant with me. I'd appreciate it if you not talk to me in that manner" she then says "I don't give a fuck don't drive on my fucking grass, bitch" After this we get into a brief argument and I drive a way. When I come home she's already waiting on her porch and I was prepared to ignore her as I was still in shock someone could talk to someone like that who've never down anything to them. She then "Hey, I wanted to apologize for earlier." and I then say I do not accept your apology kindly as If Im being honest I was still upset by the names she called me. After I declined her apology she then says "Nevermind bitch". I knew then none of this was going to be good. I concluded that night that what might have triggered her to lie and say I was on her grass was because the cigarette lady told her I drove my neighbors grass so when I drove in her driveway she already had preconceived notions about me off of what she has heard from cigarette lady. Ever since then her and the cigarette lady has went to half the neighbors on our street lying to them telling them that I did this, that, and the third as if Im bullying them for no reason. Other neighbors has chosen "their side" because other neighbors would say stuff to me as Im walking my dog or when I wave at them they blatantly don't wave back. Whenever I would water my grass cigarette lady and driveway lady would get on one of their porches and gossip about me. I just ignore them until a week ago. Last week I decided to take my dog on a walk around the neighborhood as I normally do. Usually when I walk my dog I try to stay on my side of the street to avoid further confrontation but and sometimes I walk my dog on both sides cigarette lady and driveway lady side of the street as well as my own. And I decided to walk on both sides. As I began to walk my dog, driveway lady then looks out her front door and then rushes out her back door to walk her dog. I then said I will try to talk to her today and try to end the conflict. So I walked my dog to the corner of our street and waited for her to come around the block to speak to her. And I did I spoke to her and also mentioned to her I don't like the things she been doing and that it's ridiculous she has involved all the neighbors. She then said yes "I told everyone, I will keep telling everyone" from there I knew she was insane. So I politely asked her to stop the drama with my family and I and leave us alone and walk away and she agrees and we go our separate ways. Out of nowhere her mother and father pulls up in the middle of the street then jumps out the car and begin to yell at me. Mind you this lady is about 41 years old. I knew this was her parents because she called them mom and dad. I then say a few words back and just go home. I didn't even get to finish walking my dog. I go home lay down and 30 minutes later the police shows up at my door saying that the "driveway" lady parents called and told them I was walking my dog on the wrong side of the street and that I have been harassing her and the neighbors. I then ask him is it a crime to walk by dog on a public side walk although I always make sure my dog doesn't poop on anyones lawn. He says no and then actually agrees that her calling the police on me was ridiculous and that I have every right to walk my dog on either side of the street. So after that the police gives me an incident report number and I go inside. The police then goes over to driveway lady's front yard and speak to her and her family. So decided to walk my dog again since I didn't get to finish walking him the first time and I thought this was the perfect time since the police was there. I began walking my dog and this time I was going to walk around the corner to a different street. As I passing by the corner house on my street to go around the corner to a different street a man and his wife are on their porch starring at me with anger in their eyes I just looked away and kept walking. Then the woman on the porch goes "Who the fuck are you starring at" I said "I don't know you" and she then jumps off the porch and goes "Im [insert name] who the fuck are you" I tried to keep walking before I know it she's slapping me upside my head. Before I can defender myself the police who was once talking to "driveway" lady then runs up puts me in handcuffs then gives me a ticket for disorderly conduct. They then let me go and gave me my ticket. I was in tears and in shocked that this was really happening to me. I then told my family about it who lives near and my brother rush over and confronts the lady and her husband. Apparently she claims that I have been bullying "driveway" lady and that I'm a horrible person which is why she attacked me. The police refused to give her ticket for assault as they said "They didn't see anything" I know this was very long but what do I do. We have a court date set as well. She I hire a good lawyer or do I even have a case. Pertaining to the neighborhood do I contact city council? Where do I go from here?

Reminders for Dust of Dreams

Notes on half a book

Dust of Dreams is an odd read. It hasn't seen the reconsideration that Toll the Hounds has; it's ranked ninth in our last reader survey. The Author's Note at the beginning spells out some of the reasons:

Dust of Dreams is the first half of a two-volume novel, to be concluded with The Crippled God. Accordingly, if you’re looking for resolutions to various story-threads, you won’t find them. Also, do note that there is no epilogue and, structurally, Dust of Dreams does not follow the traditional arc for a novel.

He's not kidding. But that's not the whole story.
DoD does have a climax, but it feels more like the mid-book climax that is Y'ghatan in The Bonehunters chapter 7. It's monumental, it changes things, but it doesn't reach out and incorporate disparate storylines or tie together themes. It also arrives incredibly suddenly and catches me off guard even when I know what's coming.
More generally, DoD takes its time. Erikson continues to lean in to the slow character moments that characterize Toll the Hounds, but now does so with the urgency dictated by the imminent conclusion of the series. Theme drives DoD as much as plot -- to the extent that some readers like to claim that basically nothing happens.
There are two specific things to look out for as you read. First, there's a specific plot that seems very odd if you don't catch one hint in the prologue. In order to not give away the game, u/kashmora and I have decided to discuss that plot in more detail under spoiler tags in order to maintain a balance between spoon-feeding the reveal and actually having something to say.
Second, there's a notorious event in chapter 15. It's effectively foreshadowed and won't come as a huge shock, but it's brutal. If any previous sexual violence has bothered you, this is guaranteed to turn your stomach. It's handled respectfully, but it's vile. As the chapter approaches, we will likely give lines and timestamps to stop and then restart reading if you feel you just can't do it.
I genuinely like Dust of Dreams (and, unusually, tend to rate it over The Crippled God). But it's an experience.

Characters

Since Dust of Dreams picks up largely where Reaper's Gale left off, we have a somewhat limited cast of new characters. That said, a) we continue to expand on the Lether continent and b) we're bringing back characters we haven't seen since The Bonehunters.

Errastas: The Errant, Master of Holds. Likes to "push" and claims that to be his nature.
Kilmandaros: Primarily known for pummeling her problems into dust. Mother of Sechul Lath.
Sechul Lath: Knuckles, the Lord of Chance and Mischance. He, like his mother, seems to have extra joints and a horizontally hinged sternum.
Mael: Bugg, Tehol's one-time man-servant and now Ceda, Chancellor, and Treasurer. Also the god of the sea.
Ursto Hoobutt and Pinosel: Ancient gods of beer, wine, and fertility.
Olar Ethil: Goddess and Soletaken Eleint Bonecaster of the T'lan Imass.
Togg and Fanderay: The Wolves of Winter, gods of war and current occupants of the Beast Throne. Worshiped by the Perish Grey Helms and, before their destruction, the Grey Swords under Toc Anaster.

Last: An ex-Letherii farmer. Lived with his father after his mother died when he was young. A big but meek fellow.

Sheb: An ex-convict. Sentenced to what amounts to a death sentence, he survived prison, though was significantly changed for it.
Rautos: A man with scant few memories, reminiscings of his wife, and a familiar name.
Taxilian: An architect from the city of Taxila, Seven Cities, also with a familiar name.
Nappet: Another Letherii ex-convict. He's a bully.
Breath: A Letherii witch that's filled with spite & thoughts of drowning.
The Ghost: An unnamed character that can move between the Wanderers at will. Has peculiar memories, though is presumably incorporeal.

The Refugium

Rud Elalle: Son of Menandore and Udinaas, growing up very fast (think Silverfox).
Ulshun Pral: A leader of the Bentract Imass of the Refugium. Son of Onrack T'emlava and Kilava Onas.
- Seren Pedac: Acquitor and budding mage of Mockra, Trull's widow.
Udinaas: Former slave to the Sengar household and former confidant of Rhulad. Dark, cynical, but way too insightful.

Lostara Yil: Former Red Blade, former lover of the Claw Pearl, now Tavore's right hand in T'amber's place. Trained in the Shadowdance.

Banaschar: Former high priest of D'rek, the Worm of Autumn. Stole the entire temple coffers after D'rek killed her followers (except Tayschrenn and Banaschar himself).
Withal: "Foreigner" from The Bonehunters and the Meckros blacksmith who made Rhulad's sword for the Crippled God.
Sandalath Drukorlat: Tiste Andii wife of Withal. First killed long ago, her soul was released by the Crimson Guards traveling with Seren Pedac in Midnight Tides. She was restored as a companion for Withal and it didn't go well at first. Now they're married, so something worked out?
Grub: Keneb's adopted son. Walked the Chain of Dogs. Now the only friend of Sinn. Has a knack for saying prophetic things. Oh, and there's an epigraph in House of Chains (Chapter 19, if you're curious) that identifies him as a future First Sword of the Malazan Empire.

Destriant Run'Thurvian: Destriant of the Grey Helms. Befriended Fist Keneb in the Bonehunters. Doesn't hold Tanakalian in particularly high esteem.

K'Chain Che'Malle and Associates

We meet a surviving nest - Ampelas Rooted - headed by Matron Gunth'an Acyl. She is guarded by J'an Sentinels (Bre'nigan), K'ell Hunters (Sag'Churok, Kor Thuran, Rythok) and Shi'gal Assassins (Gu'Rull). Her One Daughter is called Gunth Mach who was last seen cutting down Redmask at the end of RG, along with Sag'Churok.

The Snake

A group of refugee children on the run from Kolanse, marching through hostile lands and suffering from hunger and thirst. The train is led by the oldest/tallest boy among them, called Rutt. He carries a baby called Held. His second in command is Badalle, who is also our main Snake POV character. Other notable children among them are Saddic who follows Badalle and commits her poems to memory; Brayderal who seems pale inspite of the harsh sun.

The Shake

Yedan Derryg: Half-brother to Yan Tovis. Known for a chiseled jaw.
Yan Tovis: Preda at Shake Tower, also called Twilight.
Pully and Skwish: Ancient Shake witches.

White Face Barghast and Associates

Onos Toolan: Warleader of the White Face Barghast. You may note, technically not Barghast.
Hetan: His wife. Daughter of the late Humbrall Taur.
Cafal: Hetan's brother and Great Warlock of the White Faces.
Setoc (of the Wolves): Known as Stayandi. A Letherii child and sole survivor of Redmask's attack in Reaper's Gale. Now a wolf-born child with an innate connection to wolves.

Nom Kala: Bonecaster of the Brold T'lan Imass.

The Bolkando

Chancellor Rava: Chancellor of the Bolkando Kingdom. Is oddly attracted to Felash. Is also in his seventies while Felash is fourteen.
Conquestor Avalt: Military commander of the Bolkando Army with the glaring exception of the Evertine Legion. A decent military commander and he looks the part.
Queen Abrastal: also called Firehair, commands the Evertine legion, co-ruler of the Bolkando lands
Princess Felash: 14th daughter of Queen Abrastal, deemed the cleverest by her mother, 14 years old, away from the kingdom on a diplomatic mission.

Forkrul Assail

There are Pures, Watered and Shriven. The Pures are - as the name suggests - pure-blooded Forkrul Assail. The Watered are hybrids of Forkrul Assail and other races - often humans - while the Shriven refer to any race that doesn't have enough Forkrul blood to be considered Watered. The Shriven are essentially the slave caste of the Forkrul.

Other

Icarium: Half-Jaghut son of Gothos. Cursed to forget but immensely powerful.

The Malaz 14th - now Tavore's Bonehunters - invaded the Letherii Empire, ostensibly as a punitive expedition against the Tiste Edur raiding on Imperial lands (namely, Sepik). At the same time, due to machinations by Tehol Beddict, in conjunction with the Malazan invasion, Letherii society was in intense upheaval which ended in a defacto revolution placing Tehol at the head of the Kingdom of Lether.
In a similar timeframe, Icarium Lifestealer activated a strange machine with far-reaching consequences, one of the many among which being levelling an entire city block and killing - among others - Taxilian, Senior Assessor, Taralack Veed, and Rautos Hivanar.
The Errant was bound to Feather Witch through a temple sanctified in his name, and though he eventually won out - drowning Feather Witch in the fetid waters beneath Letheras - he lost his eye. The loss of power stings, and due to a combination of factors, the Errant craves a return to his ancient power. Also, Brys Beddict has returned to the world of the living.
There's a whole lot of skykeeps within the Imperial Warren, as well as a handful of dragons nailed to crosses throughout the books - among them, an "otataral dragon" as witnessed by Pearl & Lostara in House of Chains, and Sorrit, a dragon aspected to Serc, as found by Icarium & Mappo in the Bonehunters.
Redmask failed - and died - in whatever quest the K'Chain Che'Malle set to him, and it seems they're getting desperate.
Silchas Ruin set off to attack Letheras but was beaten back - chiefly by a few well-placed cussers to the face. "Fucking dragon."

Geography

We mostly stay in the continent of Lether but now we also include the Eastern end called Kolanse. Here is a fan made beautifully rendered map of all the places we encounter- done by u/joshuabbutler
Note: Given the extensive Dramatis and the convergence of dozens of threads in this pre-final book, we are stopping the intro here. We plan to update more and expand this further as we keep reading.

I just finished my first year of university and I received three C’s out of all my classes.
In high school, I always had around a 3.7 gpa and only received maybe two Cs throughout my time there. Overtime, my academic performance became a major part of me as family members/friends would only really talk to me about how I was always near the top of my class. now when I say only, I mean only my academics, at family reunions nearly the first thing people ask me is “what’s your gpa.” Receiving so many compliments before made me happy and now, I’m just embarrassed as my gpa in college currently is a 3.1.
I’m trying to not let it weigh heavily on me, after all in my fall semester I got very ill. I have a weak immune system and got hit with pretty much everything going around. On top of that, I have anxiety and while I planned to get medication for it before college started to help me with the transition it got delayed. Getting panic attacks during lectures and exams put me at a slight disadvantage as well. Plus, I know I’m worth more than just my grades but it’s so hard whenever people ask me my gpa then see the look of disappointment on their faces.
I know a 3.1 isn’t the end of the world, but I intend on applying to vet school after undergrad since I’ve always wanted to become a vet. Without a high gpa, it may be even more difficult to get in than it already is. Plus, I know there’s more difficult courses down the road and I’m afraid it’s just gonna take me down more.
For this next year I plan on adjusting my study habits. Additionally I signed up for my university’s disability services so I get some accommodations for my anxiety. I may decide to retake a class in the future, but right now money is a bit tight. Idk, I’m worried and afraid. I just want people to be proud of me and I hate that my friends view me as the “dumb friend”

Not sure if this belongs here, but thought I would share anyway. I recently moved out of my old apt here in Las Vegas, because I couldn't take the noise, state of disrepair of the complex, and complete lack of caring on management's part.
I found a cute, little 1 bed and shared bath over by Whitney Ranch near the mountains, and my rent went from $1100 to now $675 ($775 after utilities). Everything about the house is great, and although the room I have is small, I feel better saving a bunch of money every month.
Fast forward to last week, and now I have the homeowners (who are in the Philippines) texting my roommate and I telling us to not turn the AC down past 76 EVER (again, this is Las Vegas). I told them I would try my best, but it does get hot here, esp since I have the upstairs room.
It was fine when we had 3 people, I could keep the AC at 72. Now that the 3rd person moved out, they're saying we can't put it past 76 because we're not paying enough to cover the utility bill. They even asked my other roommate for MORE money than he owes in the lease.
What should I do here? They can't tell me suffer and be hot and miserable just because they can't rent out their home while they're in the Philippines. I recommended they install solar panels, and they shot it down, saying they can't afford it. Any help or advice would be great thanks.

I have a Corsair Ironclaw RGB. I play CSGO, I do photo and video editing. I do not like Razer and I'm not totally a fan of Logitech. Their switches seem to die quickly for me. I think usually the scroll wheel goes first.
Anyway, having said that I am reading up on the Logitech Hero sensor.. Says it can accurately track movement down to sub-micron level. It does go on to say "mostly impractical for most players to use" though, but that the 25k dpi sensor is really good. I mean that's just one review.
So, based on that I am thinking of getting the G502 X Wired. I definitely want a wired mouse. I definitely want side 2 buttons, scroll wheel, and those two side buttons.
Stores I have near me are Best Buy and Micro Center, but I'm not opposed to ordering from Amazon or NewEgg.

Have been manifestating reconciliation with my SP after 2 weeks of seperation. Today, I was naturally frustrated about how I wasn't getting anywhere and began to reflect on how I manifestated him into my life to begin with, with him having all the physical attributes of an ideal partner I've wanted. Immediately after this, I get a message from a match on tinder who has similar features to my SP. I haven't used tinder in nearly 2 months, as I've been dating my SP, so I must've matched with this guy at LEAST 2 months ago and he's only now messaging me.
This is extremely obvious to me that this is related to my manifestation, however I'm a bit confused. I know for a fact I do not want to start over with someone new and I'm done with online dating. I have reflected a lot over this and I'm sure the universe knows this is my desire. Is it possible the universe is giving me a better option than my SP? Or rather, is this a test for me to prove that it's truly my SP that I want and not just his physical attributes?
My only other, slightly more delusional, idea is that, since me and my SP met on tinder and he unmatched randomly before we broke things off, he thought that I was still using tinder as well and is making sure I'm not talking to other people by using a friend's profile. This person I matched with has similar interests on their page, is the same distance away as my SP, and comes from a similar cultural background, so it isnt too much to assume they could know eachother. Again, this is a stretch, but the universe always delivers your desires in the most bizarre ways.
Of course nobody can truly know, but I would like to see someone's thoughts and see if anyone else has had something similar before their manifestation came to them. I'm going to sit on the message for a few days before entertaining a response, simply because I don't want something new right now, however I am open to doorways being opened by the universe.

Weird post, not sure where/who to ask... but want some advice on "giving back", story could be graphic, not sure but here goes...
I've been feeding some roosters/baby chicks (not mine but they always come to my yard), I put a little old cat house I had in my yard with a little pillow and some food. It's been the cutest dang thing seeing the mom and babies walk around, eat, follow the mother, etc. Well I left for a small vacation for a week, and came back and the cat house and fallen over (strong winds when I was gone) and trapped 3 of the babies and they died (squished). I felt absolutely horrible, nearly cried, I try not to think about it which makes me think about it more, sometimes keeps me up at night, etc. I know it's just nature, and they could have died any other way (they cross the street with their mom multiple times a day and have never been hit by a car and I live on a main/busy road), but something about just seeing them there, the aftermath, something I did (not intentionally obviously) just eats me up inside.
So I feel the need to somehow make up for this, anyone have any recommendations? Like can I rescue some baby chicks, can I raise some on my own? Is it a lot of upkeep to buy a chicken house and raise some chickens? I know nothing of farming/homestead but can learn if it's easy. Maybe donate somewhere? I dunno, I just feel in my mind I need to balance the universe somehow and make this right :

Hi all, I bough a CPU i5 12400F, 16gb Kingston Ram and a Gigabyte Motherboard B760M DS3H DDR4 to upgrade my system.
What happens its that many times (every day) the CPU usage is huge - very above normal - even not using heavy programs that justifies that. Many times, I check task manager, and the CPU usage, is very high, when I was just on Windows folders, and browsing - nothing more. It reaches easily 60/70% CPU usage, and sometimes even 80/90/100% with no reason. Different task's, makes the CPU reaches almost the limit - check the pics. Even "Windows explorer" task, sometimes reaches 50-60% CPU usage, I’ve check that many times on Task manager. This happen with no apparent reason, I do not use heavy software. And with the exact same kind of usage, with my last PC which were half powerful and with half ram ( a 9400F with 8Gb Ram) Never had this issues, neither, a so high CPU usage. Since this CPU is double powerful in all aspects, wasn't expectable that the CPU, on the same kind of use, works with less effort and have less CPU usage?! Even the Windows Restart's/Boot, were more quick with my oldest Setup than on this Setup ( and I’ve already activate the Fast Boot on Bios). The only difference were, that my previous motherboard was an MSI ( a very low end H310M PRO-M2 PLUS model), and this actual one its a "new" Gigabyte B760M DS3H DDR4 model. Could the motherboard model/Brand are making all of this underperformance and issues ? At normal use, i can say, that i can't notice any kind of performance improvement with this new Setup ( that is twice powerful) I only do feel a better performance on games, but I’m a casual gamer, and i almost play CS:GO, and less more. The real difference is that with this Cup/mobo, anything I do reaches high CPU and energy usage very easily.
I have Windows Fresh install, no Virus, Adware. Bios Updated to last firmware. No background running programs. Just Windows 10 64bit with the essential's.
Other problem is the High CPU FAN RPM's ( and noise, obviously ). I know that the Stock Fans were not the most quiet, but for many years, i never bought an aftermarket Cooler, since I don't use heavy software, and even gaming I don’t play heavy CPU games, so the stock cooler is more than enough for the needs, and I’ve checked a review/noise test comparison on YouTube, and my Fan doesn't perform near close to that: https://youtu.be/yhKBABCfmpk?t=240 , and note, the CPU and cooler its the same. I wish, my Fan run so smoothly and constant, and specially so quiet like the one on the video.
This video show's a "little" of the random RPM's i am talking about, with windows idle, closed programs, just opening/switching between folder's, but I can say that usually is worst than the video, and phone mic it not capture the best sound, personally the FAN noise is much more aggressive, and usually the RPM'S are worst, (VERY) annoying and uncomfortable, Specially at night : https://streamable.com/523h6e
The CooleFan just ramp up quickly to High RPM's, by no reason and completely randomly, like if i were using the CPU with really heavy programs. Sometimes by just opening a Browser tab or a Folder is enough to listen the Fan ramping up Hard - what its not normal. And the most weird, is that the Fan randomly changes RPM's frequently. By itself, the CPU CooleFan is not quiet, but actually is running very above normal and making a lot of noise - much above the usual. The Fan could be working at 1500RPM'S, but by no reason, changes to 2000/2200RPM'S, sometimes 3000RPM'S - while using Windows - once again; no heavy programs, just windows, folders, and browsing. Fan randomly and constantly changes RPM'S , never stays idle, like the CPU are. At night, is almost impossible, stay with the PC turned ON.
Its not the 1st time, that i have the PC turned on, but I’m not using it. I sit on my bedroom, at some PC distance, and I listen the FAN ramping up Hard... like !?!? I'm not even using the PC lol its on idle, there are no programs running. How the Fan ramp up like if i was using the CPU heavily ? PS: I have my PC Case well good refrigerated ( tbh, due to this problem, and to test, the PC Case is opened - No differences ).
PS: I configured and tested FAN Profiles on Bios, and its on a Silent/Manual smooth Fan curve, even so the result, is what I’ve explained. Since, if I let the default Profile "Normal Fan", the problem is even worst, and the noise its impossible to stay near the PC, it's almost an airplane noise. But even with a very smooth Fan curve, I can hear the fan a LOT . But the Random RPM's ramp up's and down, even with a manual smooth Fan curve remains exactly the same. The Fan constantly changes RPM's (hardly), looks like and F1 car motor on a race lol.
I spend lot of hours testing ( I have some IT experience ), searching, reading, and I cannot find any solution, neither what could be the problem root. To me, should be a faulty motherboard, or CPU, but I make tests to the CPU, and on all of them everything seems ok, so, i think that the problem could be the motherboard. I've contacted Intel and nothing were detected. I've contacted Gigabyte and they just simple ignore the questions, they just told me to take the board to warranty – No troubleshooting, no help, nothing !
The questions is to, trying to know the cause of this issues, since I still have the chance to return mobo and CPU, and change for a better and stable hardware choices. But firstly I need to know and understand which device is causing troubles, if the CPU, if the Board. And my budget it's not very high, so, I would like to replace the part that is causing issues.
Do you consider Gigabyte a good motherboard brand for low/mid end range? It's the 1st time i give a chance to Gigabyte, usually i buy MSI, and honestly i was happy with motherboard's, and with the UEFI BIOS . But honestly i doesn't like the BIOS at all, and with this issues, makes me very sceptical to Gigabyte, at the same time I also feel like this motherboard doesn't have much stability ( i could be wrong). I bought this Gigabyte Mobo due to the price point, and they bring heatsink on (half) VRM and a heatsink to the SSD M.2 Nvme... Maybe i was caught by the Brand marketing. I have a Gigabyte Graphic Card and no issues, runs well. But for low/mid end motherboards, Gigabyte could not be the best option. I'm thinking to return this motherboard since i have 2more days to do it, and buy an MSI again or a Asus. But the last MSI I have was 3years ago, don't know how are they now. My last MSI was an H310M PRO-M2 PLUS, a super entry level motherboard, but always worked Flawlessly with a great performance and stability, and with a very Good UEFI BIOS and configuration options !
Is it from Windows ? Motherboard issues ? the CPU ?
If anyone got ideas, from what can be, I would appreciate. Since I search and tested everything and don't find nothing that tells me the cause.

I was thinking of getting a Thinkpad and I have settled on getting either the L15 gen 4 or the E16. Both cost nearly the same. The T series is too expensive for me. I will be using the laptop for programming, light gaming and streaming. I will not be using an external display or a dock.
