2023.06.08 19:32 spencp99 [Madison] I think the Pelicans absolutely love Scoot Henderson, really think Scoot is going to be a star and would also like to be in the Scoot business.

Came across this thread over on nba and saw that nobody posted it over here yet.
Starting 11 minutes into Locked On Pelicans with Pelicans insider, credentialed member of the media Jake Madison.
Based on my conversations with people with the team, there are times when they feel very fed up with Zion. Not enough to necessarily want to trade Zion Williamson away or actively start to do that. Again, they’re really trying to appease him with a big deal shake up or the training staff, but it’s in their minds in some capacity. And you know, they’ve worked through some trade scenarios or what the return for him would be.
We’ve heard some rumors of does he want to be here or not. He said all of the right things. Actions have been a little bit different at times. He doesn’t really spend a lot of time around the team in the offseason doing offseason workouts. He doesn’t necessarily need to, but you’d certainly like it.
I think the Pelicans absolutely love Scoot Henderson, really think Scoot is going to be a star and would also like to be in the Scoot business.
This seems to imply that New Orleans could be interested in some sort of trade involving #3 and Zion which would be... interesting?
-Insane natural talent, easily the best co-star Dame has ever had (when healthy)
-Gives us more rebounding and physicality down low
-Young player locked up on a long-term deal
-Might be the most injury-prone player in the league
-Some effort and character concerns (could Dame help with this?)
So let's talk, who wants Zion in Portland?

2023.06.08 19:30 mfmunooblegend And some still doubt that he is the best in the league

Jokic leads this years Playoffs in PTS (549) (2nd Butler has 546), TRB (241) (2nd AD has 225) and AST (182) (2nd Murray has 122) he is the first player to do so in NBA history. Additional he leads in PER, WS, OWS, WS/48, BPM, OBPM and VORP on 54.6/47/80 splits.

2023.06.08 19:26 shelvino Keeping Dame with the younger generation

(Long Post)
I am trying to come around to the idea of possibly keeping Dame AND Scoot. It's difficult to think about how Dame would feel about drafting a point guard with the 3rd pick instead of using the pick to get our franchise GOAT some help. I absolutely LOVE Dame and I actually still don't see him forcing his way out because I think we can still form a good team with our other assets BUT the fit of Dame and Scoot is just so bad. Literally any other draft pick would be a better fit next to Dame but if Schmitz sees the potential in Scoot then you have to make the pick, I am not the HIGHEST on Scoot but I am sure he will be really good. However, I got to thinking how much I appreciate how Sharpe was brought up with the team.
I think this is a really slept on storyline, but Sharpe was really developed well for us. I can't think of many other 19-year-old players with Sharpe player profile come into the league and look that steady. I think Sharpe reluctancy to mess up out there made for some disappearing stretches, but it ended up working out just as well then if he had free reign to go out there and play through a ton of mistakes and have to go through confidence ups and downs. I think having a Dame led veteran team also helped Sharpe stay disciplined and understand playing in a team concept and focusing on winning EVEN if we didn't win many games. I think Billups is an awful coach, but I think his best work as a coach was molding the young guys on the team, especially Sharpe. Anthony Edwards and Jalen Green are the two young guys that resembled Sharpe the most out of his peers and both had stretches where they just weren't playing smart basketball and I think you still see those bad habits in their game now with their decision making, shooting, mentality, etc. Sharpe carries himself very well on and off the court and I think it really is a good reflection to our organization that we haven't heard of any bad news with any of our players, I think Dame has a large role in that. I observe closely the new generation of basketball players and the culture they are a part of with Hip-Hop and social media and its truly a different beast then the 90's kids. I think it's why you are seeing guys like Ja Morant, Zion Williamson, the Hornets franchise act so much different then guys like Dame/Lebron. Heck even Tatum/Mitchell/Booker who are my age group act much different than the post 2019 NBA draft guys. Funny because Sharpe had concerns about his motor and drive but I think we are lucky to have a guy that is so reserved and kept to himself because he really gives off silent assassin vibes, someone that just wants to hone on his natural ability and doesn't really care for the marketing and flashly lifestyle that comes with being an NBA player.
Now I don't think Scoot has any red flags or potential issues BUT I think having Dame around and giving Scoot similar treatment to Sharpe would be terrific for Scoots development. I just want to avoid a situation like the Rockets, TWolves, Hornets, Bulls, where they are consistently in the lottery because they don't have a great environment for young players to develop and their players often do better when they leave. I think the way that Dame sets an example for everyone in the organization is so important and its hard to replicate that if we move off of him because of contractual reasons. I think teams that are trying to rebuild are really missing this aspect of team building because without the right veterans or mentors, a team full of young guys in this era can really pick up some bad habits and not turn into winning environments even with all the talent and potential in the world.

Side point, I think the league could be in trouble with the post 2000's stars. I really observe how the new generation is brought up on social media and today's culture and it really shows with young stars like Ja, Zion, Lamelo, Edwards, Green. Not to say those guys are awful human beings or wildly different than older generations who had their own fair share of issues just not as visible because of the lack of social media. But I think players today are so focused on their brand and doing whatever it takes to get to the league and are missing valuable character-building journeys and overcoming adversity, the experiences that make Damian Lillard who he is. Now all these young players can develop very well and turn into fantastic leaders and faces of the league when they are older, but I think there will be a difference between that group and the guys like Lebron/Kobe/Dirk/Wade/Duncan/Curry/Dame/KG/Giannis/Jokic group of faces of the league. Unless you have a team full of Dwights and Shaqs where they are moreso on the goofier lighter side of personalities but are still so dominant.
Think this is a reason why Dame started the Formula Zero to instill positive morals and values in players and to reduce their entitled mindset. I don't think basketball and being a good teammate is as important as it used to be. Not saying guys have to make basketball their entire life and shouldn't pursue other interests, I just think it's going away from what made the special players so elite and there will be less superstars going forward if guys aren't developed correctly. Maybe a reason why international players are thriving so much today....

2023.06.08 19:24 SirSefirot Things i would like to see in Diablo 4

I am aware that something like this will most likely never appear in the game but I would really like to see them.

- A simple system to join with random people to do dungeons or events. It was fine at first and I definitely have enough damage to do the Nightmare dungeons on my own, but I'd rather have that 5% extra experience. Apart from that, I don't know why the players I meet are so reluctant to talk or have any interaction with another, only 1 in 20 respond to any attempt to interact. Yesterday I spent 30 minutes just trying to find someone to farm exp and in the end I didn't make it.

-What I would like to see the most and is probably an unpopular opinion is a more pvp focused pvp. Basically I like the idea of fields of hatred but I would like to see a more traditional pvp, even a ranked system could be something I would definitely like to try. A pvp system like Lost Ark's 3v3 in 1v1 phases, where the first combatant being skilled enough could take on the entire enemy team.
Basically the game is so focused on pve that even the pvp area is mainly pve.
Also, there aren't too many people in the pvp areas, so maybe some incentive or some server configuration so that more people appear would be a good idea.

2023.06.08 18:50 HonestExtent7745 SOURCE CODE - Guide for how to build and run in visual studio 2022 in Windows 10

Hey there!
I uploaded a video a couple of years ago detailing myself getting the source code building and running in a windows xp virtual machine, BUT I've managed to get the source code building and running in visual studio 2022 and I've got a guide up on my YouTube channel - it requires a couple of fixes for a couple of the files and additionally adding some dependencies and other steps which are detailed in the video:
I've already found a ton of cool stuff in the game and I'm aiming to create a code video essay about Wasp camera AI - talking about their behaviour and how it updates, their tracking, spawning, projectile management e.t.c. Also I want to change the fire rate of projectiles, spawn amounts, how much coins they drop which would be interesting.
Not only this there are also a lot of files for a supposed UFO boss on the final level which was cut. Yes I know the game has the UFO in the playground on the final level, but there's code for the ufo to move towards the player, to shoot at the player e.t.c within the source's ai files. Anyways,
Feel free to take a look!
As I said I'm gonna detail that video about the wasp cameras, but I'm also looking to look at memory management, Rendering, how the "Hit & Run" (police chase ai) feature works and much more.

2023.06.08 18:43 18CupsOfMusic A Wikipedia page from an alternative universe in which The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was a smash hit.

This is a creative writing task. Here is a possible Wikipedia page:

Martin Wilkes

Martin Wilkes (born 1982) is a video game developer, entrepreneur, and politician. He is best known as the co-founder and CEO of Daedalic Entertainment, the company that created the critically acclaimed and commercially successful game The Lord of the Rings: Gollum (2021).

Early life and career

Wilkes was born in Hamburg, Germany, and studied computer science at the University of Hamburg. He joined Daedalic Entertainment in 2007 as a programmer and worked on several adventure games, such as The Whispered World (2009) and Deponia (2012). He became the lead developer of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, a stealth-action game based on the character from J.R.R. Tolkien's novels.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was released in 2021 for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The game received universal acclaim from critics and players, who praised its innovative gameplay, immersive graphics, and faithful adaptation of Tolkien's world. The game sold over 50 million copies worldwide and won several awards, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021.
The game's success catapulted Daedalic Entertainment to fame and fortune, making it one of the most influential and profitable video game companies in the world. Wilkes became a celebrity and a billionaire, and used his wealth and influence to pursue his personal interests and ambitions.

Political career

In 2023, Wilkes announced his intention to run for president of Nauru, a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean. He claimed that he had fallen in love with the country after visiting it for a vacation, and that he wanted to use his resources and expertise to improve its economy, environment, and culture. He also said that he was inspired by Tolkien's vision of a peaceful and harmonious society.
Wilkes launched an unprecedented campaign, using his media connections, social media platforms, and video game fan base to promote his candidacy. He also invested millions of dollars in Nauru's infrastructure, education, health care, and tourism. He promised to make Nauru a "paradise on earth" and a "model for the world".
Wilkes won the election by a landslide, receiving over 90% of the votes. He became the president of Nauru in 2024, and immediately implemented his policies and reforms. He renamed the country "Gollumia", after his favorite character from The Lord of the Rings. He also declared Gollumia to be a "video game nation", where gaming was encouraged as a form of education, entertainment, and socialization. He introduced various incentives and benefits for gamers, such as tax breaks, scholarships, grants, and prizes.
Wilkes also established diplomatic relations with other countries, especially those that shared his passion for video games. He formed alliances with Japan, South Korea, Finland, and New Zealand, among others. He also invited prominent video game developers, celebrities, and influencers to visit Gollumia and collaborate with him on various projects.

Wilkes's presidency was not without controversy. Some critics accused him of being a megalomaniac, a dictator, or a cult leader. They claimed that he was exploiting Gollumia's resources and people for his own benefit, and that he was imposing his personal preferences and beliefs on the population. They also argued that he was neglecting other aspects of governance, such as human rights, democracy, and security.
Some of Wilkes's opponents attempted to overthrow him or assassinate him, but they were unsuccessful. Wilkes maintained a loyal following among his supporters, who admired him for his vision and charisma. He also had a strong security force composed of elite gamers who were trained in combat skills.

Wilkes remained in power until 2031, when he announced his retirement from politics. He said that he had achieved his goals and that he wanted to focus on his family and hobbies. He appointed his successor from among his trusted allies.
Wilkes is widely regarded as one of the most influential and controversial figures in history. His supporters view him as a visionary leader who transformed Gollumia into a prosperous and happy nation. His detractors view him as a tyrant who oppressed Gollumia with his whimsical and eccentric rule.
Wilkes continues to be involved in the video game industry as a consultant, producer, and mentor. He lives in a luxurious mansion in Gollumia with his wife and children. He is also an avid collector of Tolkien memorabilia.

And without further ado, here are the players ranked 100-91 in the NFL Top 100 Players of the 2022 Season!

#100 - Garrett Wilson - New York Jets - Wide Receiver

Previous Ranks
Key Stat:
2nd Most missed forced tackles among WRs with 22
Written by: u/MattyT7
Garrett Wilson walked into the NFL as an immediate stud. He showed the world who he was in week 2, playing a major part in the destruction of the Cleveland Browns. Wilson caught two touchdowns, including what was the game-winner, to go along with 102 yards through the air. Despite having the worst quarterback play across the league last season, Wilson earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, and it is not hard to see why. He is a demon after the catch with the ball in his hands, consistently finding ways to squeeze as much extra juice as he can out of a play. His jab step/cutback is lethal; simply put, he is not easy to stop. He may have only caught 4 touchdowns all year, but a lot of that has to do with the fact that the Jets offense was… well, not great. Even so, Wilson finished his rookie campaign with 83 catches for 1104 yards. You may not have heard, but the Jets quietly brought in a new quarterback this offseason, and the sky is truly the limit for Wilson going forward. Although he may not be the most physically gifted wide receiver in the world, he’s an incredibly crafty dude and is already one of the best at what he does.

#99 - Aaron Rodgers - Green Bay Packers - Quarterback

Previous Ranks

Key Stat:
2nd in the league in PFF's Big Time Throw Rate, trailing only Josh Allen
Written by: u/IMissHarambe878
A “down” year for ARod sees him slip to the bottom of the Top 100 here. His stats may have declined since his back-to-back MVPs, but Rodgers was consistently carrying this Green Bay team on his back this season. Despite carrying a broken thumb throughout the campaign (in which he didn’t miss a game), he helped try to steady the ship despite inconsistency across all other parts of the team (defense, run game, inexperienced wide receivers). He nearly dragged Green Bay kicking and screaming into the playoffs but was only stopped by a gutsy Lions team in Week 18 ready to play spoiler. Fun fact, Rodgers actually put up his career high in game winning drives this year with 4.

Here is a highlights package of Rodgers’ last season in Green Bay. Some specific highlights within the video:
- 1:01 – Rodgers shows he can still throw a pretty deep ball out to Watkins v Bears
- 3:29 – Deep throw v the Jets to Lazard, probably explains why he wanted him to follow him there
- 4:37 – Rolling out of the pocket to find Aaron Jones for a beautiful TD v Commanders
- 5:06 – Absolute dime to Doubs for a TD v Bills
- 7:30 – Beautiful play action out to Watson for a TD v Cowboys
- 13:05 – Sideline pass out to Mercedes Lewis v Dolphins
- 14:11 – Absolute monster of a ball out to Watson v Lions in his final game for Green Bay

All good things have to come to an end at some point, and this year showed Rodgers wasn’t the immortal some thought he was. Considering his supporting cast and the offense around him, I think he did the best he could. Don’t let that fool you though, he’s still very much an above average quarterback and I’m confident he will be higher up this list, this time next year. Take care of him, Jets, and thank you for all the memories, Aaron.

#98 - Jaelan Phillips - Miami Dolphins - EDGE Rusher

Previous Ranks
Key Stat:
Phillips’s 70 pressures is the most by a Dolphin since Olivier Vernon in 2015
Written by: u/Yedic
Jaelan Phillips followed up a somewhat spotty rookie season with a much more polished sophomore campaign in 2022. He nearly doubled his pressure numbers, with an increase from 39 in 2021 to 70 in 2022 per PFF. He more than doubled his stops, jumping up from 16 to 36.
Check out this play, where Phillips, lined up at the top of the screen, uses his speed to beat the tackle upfield, and then works back down into the pocket for the strip sack in the 4th quarter of an important division game. Here's one where Jaelan Phillips lines up at 3t, against the LG, and then shows a nice motor to adjust for a 3rd down sack while fighting through a hold.
Phillips also showed off some impressive versatility. Per PFF's tracking, he dropped into coverage about six time a game, which resulted in the most coverage snaps out of all Edge Defenders nominated for this list, and 4th most of all Edge Defenders in the entire league. He even blocked a punt for good measure!

#97 - Talanoa Hufanga - San Francisco 49ers - Safety

Previous Ranks

Key Stat:
Only safety with multiple sacks, multiple forced fumbles, and four interceptions including a pick-6 in a single season in the last 10 years
Written by: u/TheRed_Knight
Once upon a time there was a slightly undersized Polynesian Safety from USC who played with wild abandon and a glorious main of hair, who ended up drafted in the 1st round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. His name was Troy Polamalu and as it turns out, he was one of the best to ever play the game at his position. Fast forward to 2021, and USC has another slightly undersized Polynesian Safety, named Talanoa Hufanga, who played with wild abandon and a slightly less glorious main of hair, who fell in the draft due to a poor combine showing and injury.
Snagged in the 5th round of the 2021 draft by the 49ers (praise be to Adam Peters), Hufanga played spot snaps on defense his rookie year as a rotational safety, while logging most of his playing time as a special teams gunner, with his most memorable play coming against the Packers in the NFC Divisional round, returning the blocked punt by Jordan Willis for a game tying touchdown. When Jimmie Ward suffered a moderate hamstring strain in the 2022 preseason, Hufanga capitalized on his opportunity, playing well enough to earn the starting S job when Ward came back, which in part led to Ward and the 49ers parting ways in FA.
During his 2022-23 sophomore campaign Hufanga ended up 3rd on the team/13th amongst all Safety's in tackles (97), 3rd on the team/6th amongst all Safety's in PD's (9), 2nd on the team/tied for 6th amongst all Safety's in INT's (4), including a pick-6 against Matt Stafford, and tied for 1st on the team/3rd amongst all Safety's in FF (2) EX. Despite being listed at only 6 foot 200lbs he plays significantly bigger and isn't afraid to lay wood or attack blockers in run defense. By far and away Hufanga's greatest asset is his raw instinctual play, his ability to diagnose and blow up plays based on pre snap alignment and pure gut instinct in a way offenses can't plan against. He's SF's wildcard, and on a defense laden with monsters and freaks he's perfectly positioned to reap as much damage as possible against opposing offenses.
While Hufanga's certainly has a long way to go to catch Polamalu, the similarities early in his career are apparent. History doesnt repeats itself but it sure does rhymes a whole lot.

#96 - Alex Highsmith - Pittsburgh Steelers - EDGE Rusher

Previous Ranks

Key Stat:
1st in sacks lined up on the right side of the defensive line with 14
Written by: u/ezDuke
Flashback to 2021. Melvin Ingram had signed with the Steelers in hopes of revitalizing his career opposite a premier Edge rusher in TJ Watt. All that stood in his way was a former 3rd round pick from the football powerhouse school of Charlotte entering his second season, Alex Highsmith. By midseason, however, it was clear that the Steelers saw something in Highsmith and Ingram demanded a trade in search of a starting opportunity.
Throughout the 2022 season, Highsmith rewarded the Steelers' faith in him. He showcased an array of pass rush moves to finish 6th in the league with 14.5 sacks, highlighted by his devastating spin move. He also led the league in forced fumbles, along with Haason Reddick. He actually graded even more highly as a run defender, according to PFF, and even showed good coverage skills for a LB.
Highsmith has blossomed into the do-it-all Linebacker they envisioned when they shipped Ingram off for a 6th round pick. While he still has some room to grow, there's no question that he and TJ Watt have as good a chance as any to finish 2023 as the league's best pass rush tandem.

#95 - Tua Tagovailoa - Miami Dolphins - Quarterback

Previous Ranks

When throwing 5+ Yards downfield, Tua ranked 1st in EPA/ATT, 1st in Success Rate, 1st in First Down Rate, 1st in YPA and 1st in Passer Rating
Written by: u/cheesepythons
Tua Tagovailoa, perhaps the most polarizing player in the NFL presently. Some of the criticism justified and some vacuous, somewhere in the middle of all this there is the realization that what we got in the 2022 season was a much-improved player who when given the confidence, right system and weapons showed the ability of elite talent. Finishing first in league passer rating, 25 touchdowns, around 9 yards Y/A behind one of the worst OL’s in the league (24th in pass block win rate, thank god for when TA was playing) was a bright spot for his growth and maturity as a QB and team leader. On intermediate throws, Tua ranked first in EPA per drop back and completion percentage. Tua had the lowest average time to throw on these pass attempts at 2.63, the league average for throws of 11 or more air yards is 3.02 seconds. There will be arguments of course that having two of the best receivers in the league has helped, there can’t be any argument, but it is interesting to note that Tua was ranked 33rd in the league in passing yards after the catch which suggests his arm is doing a lot of the lifting as well. 2 serious concussions and subsequently missing time robbed Dolphins fans of seeing him produce at a consistent level but at 8-1 as a starter leading into December (before the wheels fell off) there was enough to have him nominated and subsequently voted into the Top 100 players for the season.

#94 - CJ Gardner-Johnson - Philadelphia Eagles - Safety

Previous Ranks
2021 2020 2019

Key Stat:
T-1st in the league with 6 INTs
Written by: u/CokeZ3ro
Joining the Eagles mere days before Week 1 via trade, Gardner-Johnson would serve as the cherry on top for the formidable 2022 Eagles defense. More than just a change in scenery, Gardner-Johnson also experienced a change in position, switching from nickel corner to a more traditional safety. Safe to say, he adapted well to the change. Gardner-Johnson co-lead the league with 6 interceptions.
Gardner-Johnson often employs a ballhawk style coverage. He has a great sense for the ball in the air, and a blazingly fast approach which will often punish poor placement and deflections. Pairing with the disruption caused by the Eagle’s D-line and the coverage by their excellent corners gave Gardner-Johnson plenty of opportunities to flash those skills.
Mclaurin got Slay beat? It’s alright CJGJ will fly over to make the pick.
Underthrown? You’re done for.
Sometimes it feels like he spawns out of nowhere to make the pick.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention trash talk antics. If there was an award for instigation, C.J. Gardner-Johnson would win in a landslide. Few are better at getting under the opponent’s skin. Gardner-Johnson brings a level of grit, energy, and bravado that can instantly make the secondary better.

6th straight year allowing less than 20 pressures in true pass sets
Written by: u/LazyFBaby
Ryan Ramczyk turned in a solid year again in 2022. However, he happened to be on the 2022 New Orleans Saints football in 2022 as well. The offense was woefully inconsistent and particularly struggled to get anything going in the 2nd half of most games ranking in the top 5 in terms of three and out percentage during the latter half of the game. Consequently, Ram was mostly ignored throughout the season where he only allowed 3 sacks, 5 QB hits and 20 pressures (per PFF). If I was to pick any performance of his to highlight it would be his work against Nick Bosa in week 12 he stonewalled Bosa all game and his only real mistake was a false start penalty. Ryan continues to be one of the strongest tackles in the NFL in terms of his anchor and his ability to deal with any pass rush moves that an opposing Edge might throw at him. Hopefully, 2023 will see his return to the upper echelons of this hallowed list

Tee Higgins was one of the biggest draft crushes I’ve had in some time, so it was a no brainer to pick up his write up, even though he plays for one of my favorite team’s biggest rivals. He’s just a really fun player to watch from a WR coach’s perspective. Let’s dive into a few things that makes Tee Higgins a Top 100 player and an elite WR in the NFL.
The first thing you have to love about Tee’s game is his deep ball ability. That has always been his calling card, even without elite speed. So, what makes him such a threat? Well, I would be remiss to leave off his size and frame. He’s long and broad and those two things allow him to high point footballs and shield off defenders naturally. However, what separates Tee from the other thousand long and broad people playing WR at any level up and down the country is an otherworldly ability to track a football down the field, very late hands and reactions to assist with preventing a defender from getting between the ball, and most importantly the body control of a world class ballet performer. I mean this when I say that Tee Higgins has the best body control down the field of any player in football and WR gurus like Urban Meyer, Brian Hartline, and Butch will say that body control is the hardest thing to teach a receiver to do and arguably the most sought after trait of a downfield threat, moreso than speed.
Here’s a great example of this. Sauce is playing Cover 3 to his side of the field, so he’s able to open to the QB and track the ball flight. He’s in decent trail position as like I said earlier, Tee isn’t a burner. However, Sauce is late to find the ball because Tee doesn’t give anything to the ball being flight until the last possible moment where his eyes widen and his hands go up. Sauce is even able to flip his head around and get in the line of sight of Tee, but Tee still effortlessly adjusts his body to maintain eye contact with the football and track it into his bread basket. Not often did Sauce get beat deep this year, but he sure did by Tee. Another example of Tee just sonning DBs downfield. In this matchup, the Browns are playing 2-Read. As soon as the slot WR to Tee’s side goes vertical, it becomes matchup quarters and Greedy Williams is attached to Tee. This is a ball that SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THROWN. Greedy is in excellent position on the fade. The safety is coming underneath on the deep out so even a back shoulder is typically a bad idea here. The Browns play this really well! But, still, here’s Tee high pointing the ball centimeters above Greedy’s hands and ripping it away from him, having the body control to remain on his feet even as gravity and Greedy are pulling him to the ground, and walking into the end zone.
An underrated part of Tee’s game is his route running. He’s very good on his release. The first clip of this cut up shows why. In the slot here, he stems his defender outside while pushing vertical. His delayed release and “out-in-out” stepping pattern freezes the curl/flat player in the cover 3. He’s in a bad spot to play the “curl” zone (he’s not running a curl) of the coverage because the backer to his side blitzes but Tee has him so frozen, he passes Tee off to no one and Tee is able to settle into wide open space. He also uses his body control to break off vertical routes very quickly, even without having the quickest of feet. Cover 3 to Tee again as most teams were scared of him getting over top of the defense. Tee options this go route off into a perfect flag comeback, using both his intelligence and body control to find open space. The defender is flipped open and running from the snap so he recognizes getting behind him is hard. But the defender is also in really good leverage to snap back down on fast break back to the football, so he has to really sell vertical. He closes space and cuts first like he’s going to run a fade/corner route. Then, he plants extremely hard vertically in one of the most unbelievable leg angles I’ve seen from someone that is still able to keep their feet and comes back to the football. The corner is completely helpless to stop this play.
There’s been this long standing whisper that Tee is a product of Jamarr. I attempted to illustrate as briefly as possible just how incredible of a player Tee is in his own right, but I would be remiss when discussing Tee in context of this list on 2022 play to mention how much he elevated his game with Jamarr out. Tee ended the year with 74 catches for 1029 yards. Nothing to scoff at. But with Jamarr out, he elevated his play to a pace of 110 catches for 1577 yards. Tee may be one of the only players in football that is held back by a top 5 WR talent playing across from him. He proved this year that both players serve a crucial role in this offense and if anything, he could stand to see more targets next season even with Jamarr in the fold. He can be the WR1 and when all the attention is paid to him, he seems to take his game to even higher levels. Look out for him next season climbing up this list even higher.

Quenton Nelson continues to be the best lineman on the Colts once again. Having a down year compared to his previous pedigree, he was not quite as dominant as his usual standards in pass protection, he allowed more sacks than he had previously, but some of that can be attributed to inexperienced QB play and poor pocket presence forcing him to have to hold up for longer. Nelson allowed 5 sacks out of the Colts’ 60 total allowed sacks, while starting all 17 games and coming close to the lead league among guards with snaps taken, showing he was nowhere near the biggest culprit on the team in allowing sacks. There were two plays that I felt summarized his pass protection. First, he does a great job picking up a stunt to give Ehlinger time in his first NFL start. Second, is simply a picture. The ball was snapped at 9:37, and approximately 2.5 seconds into the play, Q is the only lineman whose man is not pressuring Sam Ehlinger.
However, Quenton Nelson was still a force to be reckoned with in the run. Between his ability pull, or lead block for Jonathan Taylor, Quenton Nelson still retains his ability to be a dominant force in run blocking. Any Jonathan Taylor highlight will heavily feature a solid block from Q giving him the running lane he takes, or Q out in front leading the charge! He will do this on any DL in the league too, there were several big gains in the Eagles game where Q was able to move the very talented Eagles DTs. He routinely performed this well against some of the best Defensive Lines in the league, such as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, where he does a great job preventing Heyward from wrecking this TD run,
Expect Quenton Nelson to be a massive cornerstone of Anthony Richardson’s development in Indianapolis, providing a solid foundation to every facet of the run game, and a source of protection up the middle against pass rushers

2023.06.08 18:40 TSwazz Who has the tougher decision to make: Celtics with offering Jaylen Brown a super max, or the Lakers offering AD an extension?

I am a causal fan!! Im sorry if the points I’m offering aren’t the most nuanced, I though this would be an interesting conversation.
We are obviously talking about very different situations and two very different players but I thought it would be interesting to think about.
Brown, with recency bias in mind, struggled in the elimination game against the Heat which has soured many people’s perspective of him. Regardless, he is still an All NBA Second team player and has a very high ceiling. But this brings the issue of having two super max contracts being tied up with Tatum and Brown, limiting the flexibility of maintaining a deep roster. Keeping in mind the possibility of him being traded, it’s likely that the Celtics don’t get a package in return that will return Brown’s value.
AD is great…when’s he on the floor. Since their championship season he has missed an average of 35 games every season, and can be viewed as one of the reasons that the Lakers have underperformed. Ignoring this, even his inconsistency in the playoffs can be a cause of concern.
Something else to consider is that these teams have championship aspirations, but are running on different timelines. The Celtics offer a younger core with an extended window, while the Lakers are on a more “LeBron focused” window, meaning that their championship goals seem based on his performance/ability to play at a high level as an aging star.

2023.06.08 18:13 Tifureader9904 Trying to answer some of the ranking questions

Notes beforehand: All the data referenced here is from two documents. Both are publicly available, and I have been working on them since Monday. If there are any mistakes, please let me know and I will edit them as such.
Documents in question:
Top 100 2023 Attendance:
Top player data:
Hello fellow smashers. I have once again become spiteful enough to go through the work of making a ranking post after seeing the wave of posts like these:
So, as mentioned before, I created two documents to further display the intricacies of trying to understand who ranks where and add substance backed by the data points I have found.
So without further ado let's get into some general observations (OKAY THESE ARE JUST GENERAL OVERVIEWS):
  1. After last year's abundance of “majors” it is nice to see the return of regional events
What I mean by this is so far in the year there have only been 5 events with 5 or more of the 2022 top 10 in attendance, with Genesis having 9/10 and Major Upset having 5. Regional tournaments are once again becoming more and more stacked with 12 events having at least 5 of the top 50, giving more and more regional players a crack at the upper echelon of top players.
  1. Total Attendance does not mean the tournament is going to be super stacked (until a point)
Of the 15 NA events this year with more than 100 players, 10 of them had 0-2 top 10 players in attendance, and of those 10, none had more than 5 of the top 20. Hell, even Major Upset being the 4th largest in terms of total entrants only boasted 7 of the top 20 and 19 of the top 100. However, there is a point at which it would seem that there is a major drop off in total talent, as every event smaller than Tipped Off (which had 343 entrants, and Combo Breaker being the next largest at 255) had 11 or less of the top 100 in attendance. Meaning that if an event boasts 300+ entrants one can assume that at least 15-20% of the top 100 will be in attendance at minimum.
  1. Top 10 contenders are very inconsistent when it comes to attending the same events
Of the 5 events boasting half of last year's top 10, only 2 of them had 8 or 9, those being Battle of BC and Genesis. Collision and Tipped Off come in both at 6/10, and Major Upset at 5/10. This ties in with my last point because every event smaller than Tipped Off has at most 2 of the top 10 and 4 of the top 20 (the Come Up). Meaning top players all being at the same event is maintaining a similar level of rarity, as last year Genesis and Big House were the only 2 with numbers similar to Battle of BC and Genesis in terms of top talent.
  1. There’s a small demographic of players who show up at Regional/pseudo-major events and perform really well.
Lemme explain what I mean by pseudo-major. Tournaments like Low Tide, Smash Camp, and Dreamhack San Diego I would all say are bigger than regionals, as they do not feel on the same level because they have the reach to attract national/international talent while still not boasting a sure fire winner (Cody, Jmook, Zain, Amsa, Moky) or perhaps just one of the current top 5. Players like Axe, Salt, Magi, Ginger, Zamu, Fiction, and Spark all continue to see top 3 placements at that level of tournaments. A good comparison I would make is the Moky comparison, where everyone knew how good he was and that he had the talent, but was looking for 1-2 performances at majors where the success at the level just below majors would translate.
Let me get into my personal opinions
There are tiers of players that I have at the highest, those being Top 3 and Top 5
Top 3 is the East Coast Trifecta (in order): Jmook Cody Zain
Jmook and Cody both have 2 major wins, with Jmook taking the largest event of the year and only suffering one loss outside the top 5 (shoutouts MOF) and Cody suffering 3 (Zamu, Polish, Kodorin). Then there is Zain, who won Tipped Off and has no losses outside the top 5.
The others in the Top 5 are the newly cemented Canadian duo of Moky and Amsa.
These two could be interchangeable, with both having 5 losses outside the top 5 (see data sheet), but if I had to pick it would be amsa who despite being down 0-3 against moky has a stellar 11-4 set count against the rest of the players in my top 15.
FAQ on top 5
Why isn’t zain lower? He only beat mang0 to win Tipped Off?
Well it had 6 of the former top 10 of 2023 and 11 of the top 20 making it the 3rd top heaviest tourney of the year, but go off king. Not to mention not losing to anyone other than Jmook, Cody, and amsa will carry you pretty far in terms of notoriety. I mean why do you think Jmook got ranked so high in the summer MPGR, placing second so many times? That man’s upset potential was 0 outside of Axe and Slug.
Why not put moky above amsa? What are you smoking? Dont you know he's mokying and dokying?
Amsa's stellar 11-4 top 15 h2h (73 winrate%) to moky's 7-3 (70% winrate) despite amsa attending a total of 9 events to moky's 5 so while attending almost double the events amsa has continued to dominate regionals and amsa's 2 wins at regionals/psuedomajors only bolster his resume. This tied in with amsas even 3-3 set count against the other top 5 to moky's 1-3 set count helps
What could moky do to change your mind?
Win a major, or increase his set counts against the top 3/15 respectively. Neither player has won a true major with amsa winning dh san diego and lvl up expo and moky won at the comeup so both are relatively even in terms of pseudo-major wins with amsa having a slight advantage.
Doesn't that mean you are punishing attendance or not attending?
No, Amsa has had 4 more tourneys this far in the year and yet still continues to lead set counts in both top 5 and top 15 because of it. If amsa was losing the smaller events then it would hurt him but because of the fact he is winning it cements a solid foundation and his wins on Jmook and zain propell his stock further than moky's who has yet to take a set off either.
Top 15 (aka half inactive half grinders) no order: Hbox Plup Leffen Kodorin Llod Axe Salt Aklo S2J
For the first time in his career I do not think Hungrybox is top 5, and one could argue he is at the 7 or 8 spot depending on how much you wanna punish him for being 1-7 with the top 5 and 7-10 with everyone mentioned thus far. He has won a tournament though, and you know just because it was Dreamhack Dallas and he was basically playing irl ECF against BBB doesn’t mean anything right? HboxW
Plup, Llod, and Leffen baffle me as they have wins over top 5s and are even against the top 15, but like, can they attend more so i know what in the hell to do with them? Anyways
S2J and Aklo are definitely better than Leffen and Plup in terms of attendance, but both need some serious wins to boost themselves into conversation with top 10.
Kodorin is 4-12 with the top 15, somehow managing to play more than half of his companions thus far despite half of them barely attending.
Yeah idk where the hell I would put him. Dude has wins over Amsa, Moky, Salt, and Aklo but has only tried at 1.5 tournaments so like maybe just not rank him?
Top 15 FAQ’s/ concerns
MANG0’s performances don’t reflect his skill he sandbags and therefore it shouldn’t count and you should only go off of when he tries!!!!!!
Okay at the 1.5 tourneys he has attended, he has beaten Aklo twice, Salt, Moky, and Amsa while losing to jmook and zain. Well, that’s a handfull of data points and I would rather not base someone’s first half of the year off of that so you shouldn't either. So why rank him?
Well uh ya see when you have 2 winning head-to-heads in the top 10 that’s a cause for concern so uh until he finally meets and beats Jmook, Salt, and mang0 in bracket, he will be in limbo because he does not have the wins to push him past 6th at best and 10th at worst.
Why Salt Llod Axe Aklo and S2J as the round out for 15?
Well Aklo and S2J are the best performers at majors and pseudo majors aside from the others,
Axe, Llod, and Salt are in the group of top performers when none of the top 5 are around so it makes sense to me.
Who else do you see sliding into these spots?
Magi, Spark, Soonsay, Polish as far as currently, but that may very well change in the next month, and a lot of players do not have enough data at majors (Zuppy, Trif, Hax$, SFOP, Krudo, pipsqueak, Fiction).
Why are you rating some tournaments above others?
Please refer to my tourneys tab in the top player data sheet where I showcase how some “stacked” majors are only stacked with specific levels of top 100 players, like how despite it’s size combo breaker only had one top 20 player and 11 top 100 players whereas DH san diego had 56 less entrants but had 2 top 10 players and 4 top 20 players and 11 top 100 players.

What do you think is the most decisive factor as far as an indication of a better player?
In this order: Winning a super major (a tourney with an overwhelming number of top talent), winning a major, head-to-heads (tied in with upset potential), regional/pseudo major wins, regional head-to-heads (as a trend not individually). I think attendance is built into the first 4 as a trend as well. Take Cody for instance. It would seem that every regional he attends, he wins. That is something you want out of a top 5 player, as they show dominance against the field while bolstering their head-to-heads, which is why his 2-1 set count with zamu is less concerning than if he was 0-2 or 1-2 etc.
TLDR: some documents, Moky top 5 probably like top 4, the trifecta Jmook Cody Zain mean that East coast is by far the best region, Moky and Amsa carrying Canada with Soonsay not too far behind, do not for the life of me try and rank mang0 as it stands. Please tell me if I missed anything as well as any takes you disagree with.

About Aftermath Islands
Aftermath Islands is a blockchain-based virtual reality interactive platform.
Aftermath Islands as first described in the initial whitepaper published in 2017 and then subsequently updated, was based on the premise of a water-world that had islands that represented destinations in a global virtual game. Since then, the Aftermath Islands metaverse has evolved and now represents exciting themed based islands, communities, and estates where players can experience a wide range of adventures and opportunities.
In Aftermath Islands’ virtual world, users can buy, develop and trade Virtual Land (VL), property and items, like buildings, crafted items, transport, and other items all through NFTs, a non-fungible token that represents the ownership of digitally created items. Each plot or parcel of VL is unique and owners get to choose what content they want to publish on their VL.
This can range from simple scenery and structures to an interactive game, store, warehouse, dwelling, facility, or destination. Users can purchase VL as well as all other goods and services in Aftermath Islands with CREDITS, the current code name for in-game currency, fiat and other authorized currencies, coins and tokens.
Aftermath Islands is a shared virtual world, much like the Metaverse described by author Ernest Cline in his science-fiction novels Ready Player One and Ready Player Two. Expected to launch mid-2022, Aftermath Islands will allow users to connect and interact with each other, create content, craft, participate in activities and quests and play games. Aftermath Islands will have a virtual economy where users can engage in a myriad of in-world economic transactions as well as monetize the content, items, quests, and applications they build.
