Please forgive me if I use the wrong terminology.
We bought our house 2 years ago. It had a 15 year old A/c in it.
Worked fine for the first summer. Now come this year. It started to no longer blow cold air and couldn’t keep the house cool.
Called HVAC repair guy. Said it’s leaking Freon you can either recharge and do a leak kit for $1000 ish. Or get a new set up for $3000.
Decided to replace A/C. Upgraded from a 1.5ton to a 2 ton. Because he said it would work better with the heat from the computer.
First 7 days. Works great. No problem. He installed it and set it to 18 c and it got the house to that temp in no time.
Now the outside temperature is 28-33 Celsius and the A/C Coil? The pipe with the black foam around it. Is freezing up and creating a lot of ice on anything touching it. (Metal straps holding it up, furnace joint, side of furnace)
Have had the people who installed the A/c out 3 times. They have looked at all return ducts, our vents, checked levels and installed a hard start and topped up Freon again. Every time he comes he says it shouldn’t be freezing it up this doesn’t make sense and he doesn’t know why.
It has now frozen again and I am stumped.
Some facts that may help.
If we set the thermostat to 22.5 Celsius or give the a/c a break manually it seems to delay the freezing process.
Our thermostat is upstairs and is set at 21 Celsius all the time.
House is approx 1200 sq ft
It seems to freeze quicker the more humid and hot it is outside.
From what I have gathered from my google searches etc is.
1.) we don’t have enough airflow over the coil 2.) our new A/C unit is too big for our current house. 3.) our ducts and A coil on furnace need to be cleaned. 4.) the a/c unit is low on Freon or is faulty? Not sure on this one.
Any advice or things to say to the company before I call again?

First 7 days. Works great. No problem. He installed it and set it to 18 c and it got the house to that temp in no time.
Now the outside temperature is 28-33 Celsius and the A/C Coil? The pipe with the black foam around it. Is freezing up and creating a lot of ice on anything touching it. (Metal straps holding it up, furnace joint, side of furnace)
Have had the people who installed the A/c out 3 times. They have looked at all return ducts, our vents, checked levels and installed a hard start and topped up Freon again. Every time he comes he says it shouldn’t be freezing it up this doesn’t make sense and he doesn’t know why.
It has now frozen again and I am stumped.
Some facts that may help.
If we set the thermostat to 22.5 Celsius or give the a/c a break manually it seems to delay the freezing process.
Our thermostat is upstairs and is set at 21 Celsius all the time.
House is approx 1200 sq ft
It seems to freeze quicker the more humid and hot it is outside.
From what I have gathered from my google searches etc is.
1.) we don’t have enough airflow over the coil 2.) our new A/C unit is too big for our current house. 3.) our ducts and A coil on furnace need to be cleaned. 4.) the a/c unit is low on Freon or is faulty? Not sure on this one.
Any advice or things to say to the company before I call again?

Its SUPER fun not being able to circulate my air. A Home Assistant powering an already fairly robust home automation system. A rack of servers pumping mad heat directly into the return of the basement. So I have a few options in my mind on how to solve the "I want to be colder" problem:

Hi all! Could use some advice on major issues with my house. My parents passed away and left my childhood home to me. My husband and I are currently living here and saving to buy our own home. We’ve been here about 6 years, and moved in to care for my mom in her last few years of life.
There are many issues we had no knowledge of, and I’m sick of this house. Right after inheriting it, we had a major issue with roots destroying our septic tank. Was disgusted because it cost us $30,000 to fix. This literally happened a month after I formally inherited it. Also had to replace a hood portion of the fence which cost about $3,000.
For the past few years, we’ve had a major issue with bugs getting in. I’m assuming it’s due to a huge horizontal crack that spans the perimeter of the foundation. We’ve had huge spiders, ants, flies and bees (yes bees) entire the house from various cracks and through the vents/HVAC system. Also had termites which we had to pay pest control to address that issue.
My parents have a lot of clutter that were slowly trying to get through and throw out or donate. We also had dry rot that spans the entire perimeter of the house. Based on all this, I want to walk away from this house. My husband wants to stay here a bit longer to give us more time to save and move into our own home. He also thinks we can do some updating to fix these issues and use this house as rental income. I don’t feel the same way. I’m also frustrated because currently I’m a homemaker and am dealing with bugs and crap constantly in this house while he’s at work.
What advice would you give if you knew someone in our circumstances? This house also brings up a lot of sad emotions for me. I quit my job to care for my mom and watched her deteriorate here. Also, my dad passed away here. So I dont even feel comfortable sleeping in the master bedroom. This just doesn’t feel like our home, even though I grew up here. I feel stuck because we can’t afford to buy a home and don’t have a lot of money to make repairs this house desperately needs. Any suggestions for my circumstances? Thanks.
