2023.06.05 05:56 Blackrazor_NZ Changing Proxmox IP for new IOT Network on Unifi

Hi all,
Rampant beginner to both Proxmox, Unifi, and VLANs - so would appreciate some advice from wiser heads. Disclaimer - I am in over my head here so I may ask some dumb questions...
I'm working on setting up my first Proxmox VMserver on a little Lenovo M170q - primarily to run Home Assistant in VM form, an HA instance doesn't need all the resources the Lenovo has so it doesn't make sense to do a bare metal HA-OS install rather than the VM. Plus I can experiment with other VM's on the same device.
Current setup is a Mikrotik CRS109 routeswitch and an RB951G secondary switch/CAP, with a very basic network topology of 192.168.1.X as the core subnet , and 192.168.2.X for the guest subnet, and attached SSID's for each
We are building a new house shortly and I want to both significantly upgrade my network and start to dip my toes into home automation. I have a Unifi Dream Machine SE on the way along with some Wifi 6 WAP's to get me started.
Have watched some really good videos from Chris @ Crosstalk Solutions on setting up multiple networks on Unifi, so the current plan is to set up the network as so:
My intent is to isolate the Core network from the IoT and Guest networks, and the Guest network from the IoT network, with both the Core and Guest network able to access the IoT network.
Proxmox has a fixed static IP and doesn't play well with DHCP near as I can tell. Currently it is set to 192.168.1.99 . I understand how to change the static IP on Proxmox, and would intend to change it to 192.168.20.99 to place it within the IoT network range.
My questions are :
Thanks for any help offered!

2023.06.05 05:56 AmontilladoLunch Quitting a Job I Love for a Boring, Unchallenging One

I'm currently faced with a challenging dilemma: should I leave a job that I absolutely adore in exchange for a position that will likely bore me to tears?
Over the past five years, I've had the privilege of working in an industry that truly ignites my passion. The people I collaborate with are exceptional, and the clients I engage with are remarkable. I consider myself fortunate to have found such fulfillment in my career. However, two significant issues have been weighing heavily on my mind: the lack of clear job boundaries leading to an overwhelming workload and a salary that barely sustains me.
When I initially joined this company, my role was loosely defined. While I appreciate the flexibility and the opportunity to take on various responsibilities, things took a turn for the worse when a colleague resigned two years ago. Suddenly, I found myself not only fulfilling my own duties but also shouldering their workload. I continued to soldier on, assuming it would be a temporary arrangement, without any acknowledgment or compensation for this additional burden.
Now, fast forward to the present, and I find myself juggling multiple roles. I've been fulfilling the responsibilities of three individuals while my direct supervisor enjoys extended vacations. It has become overwhelming, and I'm very aware that I am being taken advantage of. I've attempted to negotiate a higher salary to reflect the increased workload, but my requests have consistently been met with resistance. Unfortunately, our parent company, located offshore, does not see fit to accommodate such requests, and it's disheartening to go unnoticed.
To exacerbate the situation, the CEO of the aforementioned parent company, who is supposed to lead our organization, visits us merely once a year, and even then, his presence is limited to a mere three hours. How can I possibly feel valued and supported in a workplace where the person at the helm is virtually absent?
That's why, despite the inherent risks and uncertainties, I have decided to give my all in an upcoming interview for a mundane and unchallenging role within an industry that holds no interest for me. While it may not be my dream job or align with my passions, it offers something invaluable: stability and an opportunity to restore a healthy work-life balance. Additionally, it provides a $20K per year salary increase and the flexibility of working from home. Wish me luck.
TL;DR: Despite my love for my current job, the undefined role and overwhelming workload have taken a toll on my well-being. I have been shouldering the responsibilities of multiple people without recognition or compensation. The absence of the CEO and lack of support have made me feel undervalued. In my pursuit of personal growth and achieving a healthier work-life balance, I am considering a monotonous job. While it may not align with my passions, stability and the chance to regain balance are vital. Sometimes, making tough decisions becomes necessary for our overall well-being and professional development.

2023.06.05 05:56 that7343guy 21/NA/PC - Future friends 🤷🏾‍♂️🤞🏼

Hi 👋🏽. I'm a 21 year old (just turned) Hawaiian/African American. I work in sales for Pepsi, I'm a part time mechanic/soldier, and I'm currently pursuing my BS in Aviation. In my free time I like to work on computers, play video games, work out, read books, [learn to] cook, and dive. (I wanna add working on cars to my hobbie list when I get back when I get back). In late 2022 I decided to join the national guard. I spent the last 7 months in combat and mechanic training. In 15 days I'm going back home to Texas and I'm really excited to get the next chapter of my life started. As I previously stated, I'm trying to get my BS in Aviation and I haven't been able to put much time into while in military training. With that out of the way I'm hoping to find someone to talk to. Mayhaps....
If you're interested in video games I play:
-World of tanks -War Thunder -Apex -Cyber punk -Hell let loose - Halo MCC -and a bunch of other games
If you want to play any with me you are gonna have to wait 2 weeks till I get back home. If you're into any of the other stuff I mentioned shoot me a pm and I'll try and get back to you when I can.

2023.06.05 05:56 jeromekante What's the best thing I can do for my parents?

My parents are beginning to get to that elderly stage (Dad is turning 60 this year, mom is turning 50 this year for context). I notice that they are taking things much more easy than they used to and honestly their ideal day is to just chill at home and be left alone. No one's saying it outright but I just feel like they're just sitting there waiting for... whatever.
I want to be of help somehow but I have no idea how. It's hard to even explain to them why I want to help. I feel indebted and want to give back a little. I suppose helping them out financially is always helpful (even though they don't like to accept money from me), but I have a feeling there could be something else I can do for them. I'm just a little frustrated to see them age while not knowing how to interact with them in this stage.
Idk, I'm having a hard time even putting this into words, I hope I managed to get my point across. Anyone feeling the same about this? What's a good tip to be of help to aging parents? Thx

2023.06.05 05:56 chuleta2 Fenty Hydrating Foundation woes...

I went to Sephora a couple of months ago to find out that my absolute above all HG foundation had been discontinued. I seriously can't stop being frustrated about this because it was literally the ONLY foundation that made my skin look so radiant without even having to use primer or anything else with it, really (for days where I don't care if my makeup mostly melts off my face, bc it just melted IN and still looked p good). It also NEVER breaks me out even when I forget to wash my face at night! I still have the ONE I bought maybe 2 years ago, and it still works perfectly lovely but I know that that probably won't last for long.
Does anyone have ANY IDEA why they discontinued it? I need some closure cuz I honestly believe that since it worked so well by itself, people weren't buying as much primer or w/e else as much. If I use the Soft Matte I am FORCED to use more products on my face that I could just skip out on when using the Hydrating formula.
Also, if anyone happens to have any reccs for any foundations I could try that might be close enough, please share! I really don't trust Sephora to point me in the right direction when it comes to finding my perfect match (have been burned way too many times, also their store lighting always has me choosing an off shade which is also very annoying lol). It's starting to kind of depress me when I try looking and am always disappointed. It just really sucks looking in the mirror and expecting a ~work of art~ but I just look patchy and crappy, and that is WITH me doing the extra steps to make it sit better.
Sorry this was kind of ranty! I just wish this foundation was still available. Sad I can't repurchase it and that I didn't at least buy a couple more ahead of time/when they went on sale.

Follow up on
So I ended up getting a "Toshiba" 12k BTU portable ac/window unit 350sf..
It was from Home Depot for about $470.00 on my HD CC.
So far it's working pretty decent. Keeping the main living room 900 Sq ft fresh at 78 with the AC set to 68...
To put it in perspective, it was 91 degrees in the living room earlier today.. (Bakersfield CA.. IYKYK)
Overall many comments on the OG post gave me a lot of knowledge and guidance on what moves to make.
Thanks to everyone for the advice!

2023.06.05 05:55 Alzme140 Genre: 2)Fantasy Theme: 4)Adventure OP’s Age: 35 OP’s Age in Story: 25 Character Count: 5 Timeline: Past Story structure: A group of explorers setting out to discover a lost civilization

RedditStory-GPT
In the year of my 25th summer, my life was far from the ordinary, far from the regular nine-to-five rut most people of my age were settling into. Instead, I was part of a band of five explorers, intrepid souls brave enough to follow a trail of ancient lore and myth to seek a lost civilization that existed only in whispers and old parchment.
We were an unlikely group: Ian, the historian with a heart for adventure; Meredith, the linguist who could decipher the lost languages; Ben, the geologist whose eyes could read rocks like an open book; Laura, the survival expert who could make a home in any wilderness; and me, a cartographer by trade, responsible for navigating the wild terrains we would encounter.
Our journey began on a crisp autumn morning, as we stepped onto the untamed soil of a land that had been untouched by modern civilization. The days that followed were a blur of breathtaking landscapes, perilous terrains, strange creatures, and moments of astounding discovery, fear, joy, and doubt. The wild was unforgiving, but our determination was unwavering.
We encountered numerous obstacles, ranging from treacherous cliffs and roaring rivers to a dense forest inhabited by creatures that seemed to have walked straight out of mythical tales. Yet, every step we took, every challenge we faced, brought us closer to our goal.
With each passing day, the clues and hints we had collected over months of careful research began to fall into place. Unintelligible symbols carved into the face of a cliff became a map, pointing the way to our destination. We were drawing closer to the heart of the lost civilization we had set out to find.
At the end of a grueling journey of endless days and sleepless nights, we arrived at the ruins of what once had been a grand city, hidden away from the world by the wild. It was a sight that left us awestruck - towering structures, carved from the living rock, standing defiant against the test of time. This was the lost civilization we had risked everything for.
Standing there, amidst the silent structures that echoed the stories of a time forgotten, I felt an overwhelming sense of fulfillment. The journey, with its myriad challenges, had changed us in ways we never could have foreseen. We had discovered more than a lost civilization; we had discovered facets of ourselves we never knew existed.
That unforgettable journey remains etched in my heart. The story of the lost civilization, of our remarkable adventure, now resides in the annals of history, offering inspiration and igniting the spirit of adventure in others.
As I pen this down, a decade older and hopefully, a little wiser, I realize that the greatest treasures we discovered on our journey were not the remnants of an ancient civilization, but the bonds we forged, the resilience we discovered within us, and the joy of venturing into the unknown. This story is a testament to the power of curiosity, courage, and camaraderie that led us to venture into the wild in search of the elusive and the extraordinary.

2023.06.05 05:55 No_Contribution_7117 How does one purchase a home that hasnt been constructed yet in a new neighborhood?

So theres a new community being built near my work and it would effectively eliminate my work commute and I've had the home downpayment ready for awhile and am just continually saving. All I know is that Lennar is the home builder and I've checked out their website for this location and I see 'x' means the homes already sold but I'm looking at it from the parking lot at work and it seems like its still being constructed, but the map layout looks correct. So were people able to purchase their home then it gets built? I'm not sure how this works. I'm looking on the website but I dont see an email to ask questions about this particular location or whether or not it will have HOA. Also they all seem to be 2 story homes so far in the planned layout map on their website, but I'm actually looking for a single story home... so I'm not sure if all the homes here will be all 2 story or a mix of both or if you can request so a single story home. There are some parts of the neighborhood here that do have 2 story and 1 story homes mixed in between though.

2023.06.05 05:55 Rratsognir Surgery or try to treat this?

Hey guys. Looking for opinions or experiences that could maybe help guide us. My boyfriend has been in the hospital for almost a week now fighting pancolitis and sepsis with steroids and antibiotics. He had a blood transfusion when he came in as well as fluids and nutrients. This is his 2nd hospitalization in a month and his 4th ER trip. The first time he had C. Diff too, but he doesn't now. His wbc and other numbers have been improving but physically he's in so much pain when he doesn't have strong pain meds going through his IV. They started to taper his IV steroids and today he shat pure blood again.
So the doctor has decided he wants to discharge him tomorrow.
Yep. He has absolutely no plan of action whatsoever. They haven't given him any other treatment other than the steroids because he doesn't have insurance. I thought it was standard practice to start infliximab or something similar while still in the hospital but apparently we're too poor for that.
Tomorrow we're supposed to see him before getting discharged and discuss a follow up but my boyfriend is in no shape to go home. He can't move out of bed unless he has Tramadol or morphine.
After days of discussion between my boyfriend and his family and I, I think he's wanting to get surgery and be done with this. He has no desire to play games with extremely expensive medications that may or may not work and have potentially dangerous side effects. He also works in a hospital and can't afford to be immunocompromised the rest of his life. He also hates the idea of having to get infusions or injections constantly, still having symptoms, and still having to eat like he has been. He seems to want a permanent ileostomy because of jpouch complications and the fact that he would still have UC in his rectum, where it started and is the most severe.
I guess we'll have to talk to the doctor about it tomorrow, but I have a feeling he won't be receptive to our concerns. A few days ago he was weighing sending him off to have the surgery done anyway though. But we don't know what to do.

2023.06.05 05:55 Broocrum [US-TX] eviction over BS noise complaints?

Hi, I live in a large apartment complex in Texas. I renewed my lease for a second time in November, but not until after the assistant manager forgot to submit my paperwork. I had to contact the corporate regional manager.
I started getting noise complaints from my neighbor below me in October about my working out in my apartment. She lived below me for almost two years without complaining. I even texted her to make sure I wasn’t being too loud, and she said no. She changed her mind in October, and the company let her out of her lease.
Keep in mind, none of these complaints ever came during quiet hours, 10 pm-6 am. I’m not working out or listening to music or anything loud during those hours.
The new tenant moved in and also started complaining about everything from workouts to music to the television. The office never gave me dates or times this was bothering her, nor did she contact me. I asked management to set up a meeting with her so we could resolve the issue. Nothing. I attempted to talk to her, but she didn’t answer the door or wasn’t home. I stopped working out in my apartment, stopped playing music on my tiny Bluetooth speaker, and stopped having company over. She still complained. So they started slapping me with lease violations and then a 30-day move out notice two weeks ago.
On Saturday, I got a voicemail from the assistant manager (who screwed up my lease) that said she was going to get the police involved. I’ve no idea what she’s talking about because I wasn’t home Friday. I don’t know what to do because management won’t listen to me or believe me since this is the second person, and I don’t want to get evicted. Other residents have parties and hold gatherings in our common areas, but I’m somehow the problem, even though they have no police reports or documentation from this person.
Should I get a camera? Should I let them file an eviction suit and take my chances in court? Should I just move out? Anyone been in a similar situation?
Any help at all would be appreciated. I have depression, anxiety and PTSD, and this situation is making my life hell. I’ve lived in apartments for 14 years and never had complaints.

2023.06.05 05:55 Major-Mess4992 Getting a bird

Hello, I'd like some help if anybody has some advice. I am 15 years old, I go to highschool and I work till 5-5:15 after school. I've always wanted a bird, either a bourke parakeet or a sun conure. I want to make sure I'd be able to give a bird the best quality of life I can. I'd have 1-2 hours in the morning well I go about my routine to let the bird out of its cage, and interact with it, and 4-7 hours when I get home to spend with it as am I am up to 10 or 11. I'm not a party person, I don't go out a whole lot other then my girlfriend. I have space for a spacious cage, and as I work the money for toys, cage and other things. Just want some opinions from people who already have birds. Want to give my little buddy the best life I can.
Thank you,

2023.06.05 05:54 Jeklu Where do I start and what can I expect?

I just finished undergraduate at UNC in 3 years with a little under a 3.2 GPA after struggling a bit the last 2 semesters due to mental health and burnout. Decided to take a gap year (or two) because I have just been so drained from school, but know I need to be thinking about law school admissions.
What should I be doing to prepare for applications and the LSAT?
Do I have any chance at a top law school with my UGPA given I graduated fast, went to a fairly good school, and dealt with mental health issues?
My dream is to go to UNC Law, but am looking at other options in NC. Realistically, I think I will end up at Campbell which I know is not very prestigious, so how much does going to a smaller school affect job prospects?
