Like the title says, we just moved into a house with an induction cooktop and I've never used one before. I was making dinner the other night in a Kirkland stainless 11in pan and noticed that the chicken was only frying directly over the coil (magnet? I'm not that familiar yet).
I took two pans of the same brand (different sizes) and set the burners to 5 (out of 9) and let them sit for about 2 minutes. This time the sides of the pans for hot instead of being cold and just heating at the center. I placed a little bit of olive oil in the pan and waited for light smoking but never saw any. I gradually turned the heat up to 7 and eventually saw what I was looking for.
The long story short is I'm trying to make the transition from gas to induction and looking for tips and best practices. For example, when do you add your oil and do I want the pan hot first or just add oil and heat with the pan, what settings (1 through 9 in my case) am I looking for to fry skin-on chicken thighs versus breasts. I know where to set my dials on a gas stove but feel completely lost now.

My fiance owns a home. Market rent to rent out the whole house would be about $4,000/mo.
It's a 4 bedroom house. 2 of the bedrooms are strictly for my use. One is a studio and the other is an office/storage for my businesses.
His mortgage is $1250/mo. I've been paying $600/mo.
My income- $150k/yr

This is a cautionary tale. The evening of May 5, 2023 I was contacted by a Telus sales rep for what was a pretty good offer, so I made the decision switch from Shaw. Install date was set for May 24. May 23 I get notified that the drilling for the fibre optic line can't be completed because they can't get locators and my install will be delayed to June 9. Drillers show up the next day and install the fibre drop. Come June 8, I receive an email that my appointment has been moved yet again to June 11. I have many many calls to very unhelpful people telling me that the fibre drop has not been completed. I know the company that does the drilling for the fibre drops and is a personal freind of mine and my father in law, and he assured me that it's been done. Finally the last person I spoke to on June 9 admitted that the technicians are over booked and can't make it. Now today not 10 minutes ago, I received a call from someone at Telus again insisting the fibre drop is not complete and the appointment must now be moved to July 3.
I want to know, how is this acceptable business practice?

University is starting soon. I haven't been schooling for some time. I'm starting to feel a little anxious. It's painful.
Today mom fainted in public while going to work. I don't feel anything. I know I should feel worried, but I don't. I don't care about her and that doesn't feel right. I feel like a psychopath. We got a rescue puppy with questionable parentage. I really suspect his daddy has a Texan Heeler in his background. We've had him about a month and we're using a house lead to train. We have been for about 2 weeks. He's 4 months old. Nipping and jumping are issues, but he's starting to bite in retaliation if he's prevented from doing those things. I’ve been with my fiancé for 13 years. We have a 3 year old and a 4 month old baby.
Throughout our 13 years together we’ve certainly had our ups and downs but I would say for the last year we have been in the best position ever. I’m so happy with her and couldn’t imagine life without her.
The issue is she’s currently going through some paranoia and maybe anxiety? It’s bringing me back to 10 years ago when she would quiz me on every female I spoke to or constantly need re-assurance.
I have never done anything to make her doubt my love for her and I tell her constantly.
I have ADHD and have my ups and downs. Surprisingly even with two children our sex life is the best it’s ever been. Averaging around 3-5 times a week(weekends are harder because of the children) the issue is, the last 2 weeks we have been super busy and me more so. I’ve been doing diy around the house, working hard and because of my adhd I’m just up and down sometimes. Yesterday I spent all day outside working on a project I was so tired at the end of the day and she asked if we could have sex, I didn’t say no I just said I was exhausted so I’ll see how I feel later. She was visibly upset by this and she takes it so personally. I feel guilty anytime I’m not in the mood. She feels like it’s an attack on her and then she gets paranoid that I’m masturbating instead! She doesn’t seem to understand that life gets in the way sometimes and we go through stress, busy life periods where we just won’t have sex as often.

Ted Kaczynski pled guilty on January 22, 1998 in Sacramento, California for setting 16 explosions that killed three people and injured 23 others.

This isn't just a " should pick up ... that'd be greaattt".
I think the ability to have two take-it-to-the-house pass capable running backs on the field at once, basically the top two threats in the league on the same team is a potent weapon, especially combined with Danny's running ability.
These two players can seamlessly transition from a power run formation to a five wide, so if the defense has a run stopping defense on, they are toast. If the defense goes to multiple defensive backs, they are toast in the run game.
The Giants could run formations where they threaten inside run, the most dangerous sweep, screens, and QB runs.
And the price tag? Probably less than a top flight WR for both of them, and if one considers the degree of "stress" these two place on the defense, it will benefit the wide receivers. The safeties will HAVE to come down to the line of scrimmage.
Other advantages: load balance, injury insurance on the elite offensive position of the team.

So when I first read it, I was actually enjoying it. It had a fun premise and was amusing and some of the plot twists were good............. Then it kept going, getting dumber, bad character descions, and I just don't care anymore. I skim the newest chapters to see if anything good happens... Most part it doesn't. and recent chapters have not helped either with the constant back and forth between him I think engaged to Erika yet going for Segawa (if that engagement was cancelled and such then sorry just shows how much I don't care anymore lol)
But my real main issue with the series is something I have a problem with in a lot of manga/anime. I am a huge fan of female on male abuse if it is done correctly: In my case the girl uses wrestling moves as punishment instead of the typical overused punches and kicks. So I naturally enjoyed Sachi the most as she is Nagi's sister and she beats him up with wrestling moves...
If Only We saw That more often.......... So here is where my gripe comes in. Manga: around ch 16 Sachi put Nagi in an armlock we got to see that, and then it cut to the exterior of the house and we just see the speech and sfx then it cuts back when she is done. Meh that could have been better. bit later idk what chapter: Sachi puts Nagi in a headlock... then it cuts to the exterior of the house and we just see the speech and sfx....... Later we see Sachi's embarrassed face and then cut to the exterior of the house and just hear her beating him up and never showing it......... And ever since then she hasn't done anything not even a denki anma to him which is pretty popular in japan between siblings.
I very much dislike Tell not show, so when the abuse comedy happens and we just cut to an exterior of the setting and hear it. that's a waste for me and pretty dang annoying, and this series does it 3 times. So when the anime was coming out I was iffy animation looked good but I had hope that maybe the anime would include the Sachi abuse that the manga cut away from...
It didn't... It actually did it worse.
The armlock was shown but then it cut to exterior of house and we hear Nagi pain then it cuts back to them in talking mode the headlock was shown but then it cuts to exterior of house and we hear Nagi pain... BUT then we cut right back to Nagi laying on floor after being beaten and then go to next scene...... third one Sachi embarrassed face and we cut to exterior of house and hear her beating him, But then we cut back and Sachi has him in a Camel Clutch (one of my favorite moves) Yay thank goodness. But too little too late and also this is episode 21, Oh and the actual move is not done in good detail and then cuts to a real close up of Sachi face and end credits - you couldn't keep the shot of the move and then end , why did we need a close up...
Ugh if this was their way of being faithful to the manga it is a lazy way lol and makes me angry , Doesnt absolve of the other issues of the series but If they kept this stuff up and shown it, Or had Sachi do more I would at least have been entertained... I can overlook bad things if there is enough good things to keep me entertained. Oh and the few times Erika abuses Nagi it is with freaking punches and kicks - hate that and Segawa is a kickboxer too -- hate that too... So yeah those are my thoughts and I wanted to vent, I do hope the series ends good at least, Nisekoi was another similar example but that one at least had some great comedy and character interactions to warrant it's longevity. The author's previous work of Yamada and the 7 Witches was good (i still had my issues with that one) and the Yankee Megane one (I had more issues with that but still found it entertaining) current one Hiiragi-San Vampire has promise but I fear it will go down same path so I am having issues with that one too.

He was, at the time, in a relationship with me. He was in his forties, I was ten years younger. His mother had terminal cancer, so it was a very difficult time. I would make him meals, clean his house, bring him gifts, hold him when he broke down, and I also gave him space when he wanted it. He kept saying he couldn't really be present as a partner until his mother passed away.
I never got to meet his mother. He said it was a bad time, with all the family trying to cope with the grief. I understood and didn't push for it at all.
One day, he came over to my house. I had spent about three hours making him dinner. He sat down, ate, and then abruptly told me we were not together anymore. He said he needed time to work on himself, he needed time to help his dying mother -- maybe six weeks or so -- and after that, we could be together again.
Except, it turns out his "dying mother" was already dead. She had died about three days before he suddenly broke up with me. In the weeks that followed, we still saw one another. He kept going into detail about how hard it was caring for his dying mother, that his life would change once she had passed away as then he would have time and freedom.
This went on for two whole months before I saw her obituary and realised she had already died months before. When I confronted him, he denied it -- but when faced with irrefutable evidence, he caved in, and said he simply hadn't wanted to burden me with the news. Which is ridiculous. He had sat there, looked me in the eye, and gone into detail about caring for his mother, how hard it was, that his life would be different when she had passed away -- but she was already dead.
How bad is this? Am I right to think this is deeply wrong? That he could sit there and lie about his own recently deceased mother? And for what reason? I have been trying to wrap my head around this lie for months now.
