51 years ago, an underground nuclear explosion was planned in the densely populated Kharkiv region to extinguish a burning gas borehole.
Today, only a few people know that in 1972, a nuclear explosion was arranged near Kharkov. Its explosive power was only three times less than that of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima. Fortunately, none of the people then died. And Soviet scientists used a nuclear charge to put out a huge "torch" of gas. The attempt ended in failure. The fiery gas geyser burned for another year, and the radioactive cloud spread over half of Ukraine. All this was swept under the rug and kept a strict secret. In order to lift the veil over this mystery, we went to the village of Pervomaiskoye, Krasnograd district, Kharkov region, a kilometer away from where, back in 1972, a nuclear explosion occurred.
ACCIDENT
In 1970, geologists found the largest gas field in these places. According to early estimates alone, its reserves were 300 billion cubic meters of gas. A year later, there were already 17 boreholes. And suddenly an emergency happened - on one of the drilling rigs, at a depth of 20 meters, gas condensate caught fire. In a moment, the column of fire was already rising several tens of meters. The torch hummed louder than a jet plane or space rocket during launch. The gas spread throughout the neighborhood and began to poison the inhabitants of nearby villages. "We were forbidden to use matches, turn on the light, or turn on all electrical appliances. They said there was a gas accident. And if we light a match, everything will explode. But it didn’t help either," recalls Leonid Chernogor, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of Kharkov National University, a native of those places. Finally, Moscow decided to use an underground nuclear charge to create a local earthquake. The explosion was supposed to move the soil and create an artificial seal that would close the gas flow. Back in 1963, at the Urta-Bulak gas field in Uzbekistan, in exactly the same way, exactly the same burning fountain was put out. But… that accident happened in the desert, the area was uninhabited for hundreds of kilometers. And here is the densely populated Kharkiv region. Near the city of Krasnograd, with a population of about 50,000 inhabitants.
By all calculations, the probability of failure was only 1%
This was to be the 28th nuclear explosion for peaceful purposes in the Soviet Union and the first in Ukraine. At 10 a.m. on July 9, 1972, the charge was detonated. "The authorities ordered us to stand on tiptoes so that our spines would not break from the shockwave. I felt an underground impetus, and then an unnatural silence came, as if suddenly I became deaf. I don’t know how long it lasted—a minute or two—but suddenly an explosion sounded: stones, dirt, and water flew up. A heavy brown-black, mushroom-like figure was formed. Leadership immediately fled away on their helicopters and cars," recalls Nikolai Taran.
The torch went out.. for a while, and everyone applauded. But then a fiery geyser appeared again. According to Leonid Chernogora, a radioactive trace stretched through the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. "Of course, the first secretaries in Kyiv sniffed about this, and they have already begun to import food from Moscow instead of the Kiev regions. They fed the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine with food that was imported from uninfected regions. Pervomaiskoye: returned, as if after the war

Building materials were brought only to those whose homes had serious damage, the inhabitants of Pervomaisky said.
"My dad wanted to go home immediately after the explosion because the farm was abandoned. We went in a roundabout way - but were not allowed into the village, which was encircled before the explosion. After 2 p.m. in the afternoon, they brought us back by buses. Only after 30 years did we learn that it was a nuclear explosion. But there were rumors before, too. On the radio, someone heard, according to the American station, that it was a nuclear explosion. At that time, nobody paid much attention to this," continues Nadezhda Diabur. According to the former paramedic of the village of Natalia Taran, a quarter of the population will die from cancer in the next 30 years. " Now about 250 people live in Pervomaisky. These are mostly old people. The rural school was closed when we were still under the Soviet regime," says the paramedic.
People recall the first months after the explosion with a shudder. When a gas torch still burned. The height of the flame reached 150 meters. "White nights came to our village. My friends then lived on the outskirts. When I came to visit them, we could not hear each other even from one meter away. I had to scream," recalls local resident Lidia Pisareva. Someone abandoned their homes a few days after the gas fountain was set on fire, and someone did not want to leave even after months. People recall that chickens did not want to carry eggs in the evening because it was so bright, like it was daytime. The cows did not want to give milk because it was very loud. "People could not live in their homes for a prolonged time - they would go mad. They could not fall asleep for the first few weeks - it was like a nightmare. I once came to visit them in the evening. It was very bright in the room, and an unusual look opened from the window - a burning fountain in the sky. I will never forget this sight. A month later, they had to leave their house. They took the most valuable things, their animals, and moved to the neighboring village of Krestische to live with their relatives," says Lidia Pisareva.
They managed to put out the fiery torch only in the summer of 1973. They had to dig out this well and close it with liquid concrete under high pressure. For 21 months of gas burning, as much energy has been produced as the whole of humanity consumes per day. Ukraine would have had enough of it for 10 years. And the smoke from the burning fountain was thrown into the atmosphere as much as Ukraine is out as a result of its industrial activity in two years.
Now scientists say that the terrain has suffered more from the fire than from the discarded radiation. Acid rains fell around this well within a radius of several hundred kilometers." In the summer, trees were without leaves. And in winter, there was no snow. Green grass grew around the well within a radius of 200 meters," recalls Nadezhda Diabur.

Hello all,
I hope your days are going well. Forgive, if this has been asked elsewhere before.
I am looking for a second hand Charge Grater in London Town to buy, what a rarity eh?
A Flat bar and geared up, no single speed or fixie, need to keep me old knees.
I did find one or two but they are 3-4 hours from town. I could arrange collection, but I'd like to test, view etc etc, before pulling the wallet out. I found a single speed on Gumtree and none on eBay in London (I could be wrong.).
Any insights, or suggestions to get one from the London or outskirts will be helpful.
Oh, and it doesn't have to be a Charge, a flat bar road, light gravel bike geared up nonetheless. The Charge looks quality and I admire the simplicity, so there you go. 🙂

Hello! My name is chipydog. I played Habbo hotel before it was in the US and only in the UK. I actually liked the guys name on the UK platform and took it when they released US. He confronted me about it lol, I was young and like the idea of happy being called chippy lol. Anyways I played until about 2006 from what I gathered from the rare releases. The reason Im writing this is because I was really prevelant in the casino side which i just learned is banned! I remember so many crazy things, theyre wasnt coins back then or a marketplace. You also could block rooms and demand fees to enter since you coudnt walk through anyone. I remember the the mute ban, moderators going nuts, creation of habbox. Habbox radio (I was featured) most things people wouldnt care about. One particular incident was a incredibly rare trophy going in the catalog which i believe is the marketplace now. Those trophies werent on long maybe an hour? they were put on by mistake. I believe I purchased around 30 of them. Right place right time. That catapulted me into a new tier. Before that i had furni stores and traded all day long. Never was really interested in the public spaces. When i got those trophies I slowly became one of the more wealthy players over time. I operated alot of casinos. They were setup almost in tiers 4 and 5 star lets say . The really rare casino always sat full and mid rare was always red/yellow too. The room used to be colored for capacity in the search. The other casinos at the time that were ultra rare muesuems essentially were friends like rpl and conflaguration. I think rpl had more noreity so ill mention him. I had rights in his casino he had rights in mine. I really enjoyed building casinos. It would take me months to build one. Then I constantly began changing my designs up building 1 then tearing down the other. They were incredibly expensive to build, but it was fun. My favorite was a bird bath casino I had like over 800 bird bathes but they way they stacked was really cool I wish I had photos. These were ultra rares especially since they were no market places. You would go into big rooms and just say selling xxx you get the point. I found 800 that way lol. Well in the beginning I did. I didn't even really take or make bets having those casinos I liked building them and the fame more. I would sell rights too though, That meant that person was a dealer and could open the gate and get behind the dice. We played 21 alot of variations and technicality like any gambling now and days. Unless you were an ultra rich well known person you did not get free rights. Thats were those tiers stepped in. I had a 4 star casino lets call it, where bet minimiums were lower and you could purchase rights to become a dealer (still wasnt easy). Idk if rights are a thing anymore? It allowed somebody else to re-arrange a room or open a gate. The 5 star casinos were never purchasable. This keep 2 things from happening. Scamming and trashing. Trashing was the worst. 1 time it happened in my 5 star casino design and it took forever to rebuild. I made most my money selling rights to my 4 star casino. My 5 star casino always had crazy rare value bets going on. The wealth is what made me start originally thinking about this. Having that much stuff was sometimes downright annoying. I had alot of spare accounts holding alot of stuff. My main account i was constantly deleting full rooms of rares by accident. My friends laughed because i labeled a few rooms do not delete so i kept them labeled like that haha. RPL was a good friend of mine and I am willingly to bet alot of money that he was the wealthiest person on habbo. He started having issues with moderators. Looking back i think this was probably the first wave to stop the casinos. The mods name was yellow something he did the safety dance video on habbo with licensed music etc it was their ad i believe. I actually knew him well too he was a dealer at my casino! I had teleports to his room even after he became an offical moderator. ( you could not have open rooms at the time, they felt they would fill and stay at the top of the board to long) the mod went a little crazy. He startsd banning random people and giving out rares such as thrones just randomly. Honestly habbo never made it right to rpl and that was the beginning of the end for me. This mod ended up banning rpls main account. RPL luckily had alot of stuff spread out. He bounced back quickly, but kept getting banned. This mod had a vengeance for him, maybe a bad bet lol! Anyways, super rares fluxucate in price and usually always went up. So I just kept getting richer and richer. I also condensed everything to thrones or typos whatever was the lowest at the time. Lowest at the time meaning how many HC's or habbo club sofas were needed to buy a throne or a typo. HC's used to be coins fyi. I don't remember the exact count but being really excited to have over 1,000 of them. ( when i referenced i was mid class I had 1.5 ) everything was good until I made a super dragon casino at that time old rare values were crashing so I bought a ton of dragons when they came out they were only like 1 or 2 colors. Then a drop came the green and black and then another and then a rerelease the value tanked. I lost like 30% of my net worth and starting doing some really big bets, nothing interesting though. I was entering highschool and decided its now or never to quit. I decided to bet everything. The bet was on that radio station. I had a date set an everything. The bet was like 30% too. So i would win 30% + the original which were terrible odds but I actually had a hell of a time finding somebody to do the bet since it was so large. It was worth like 600 something thrones. I remember saying this will bring me back to 1,000 thrones. Which i remember saying to myself then I will stay. I ended up losing. I remember wanting to log out right then and there. I stayed and took the loss. Stayed off for a week. Went back and was talking to friends and I remember one kept trying to get me to take super rares for free in the trade. I didnt take it. I ended up quiting shortly after. I dont regret quiting I felt like it was comsuming my life and I was going into my freshman year in highschool. I only regret not selling the furniture on ebay. I know people got banned and I was profiltic but I think I could of moved alot before I was banned. I learned alot and loved the game. If you have any questions from thG era let me know. So for context, I had a very high end Elly de La Cruz card listed on eBay last night for $4000 and after the game, someone straight up bought the card (not even sending a best offer) and paid. I was obviously pretty excited but then, 30 minutes later, get an email from eBay saying the buyer has requested to cancel the order saying they purchased by mistake (seems kinda fishy to me seeing as they had to physically enter their card details to pay but whatever). Now I don’t know if this truly was a mistake, an owner of an identical card trying to artificially inflate sales on 130point, or someone just posted an identical card for less, but I obviously want to sell at this price.
They have paid and the listing is “no returns accepted”, but I obviously did not ship the card in the 30 minutes after the purchase. Am I obligated to cancel the order or can I refuse and ship the card anyways? I’m just frustrated because I had another card get an offer I accepted earlier this week that then went unpaid where I just feel like they were trying to drive up the price on 130.

Speaker: “How? Well, I happened to come into contact with a certain someone within your family who had enough reason to be close enough to the ledger to be able to facilitate an accident… Scary, isn’t it? Really makes you wonder who else of your most trusted members is on my payroll!”

Listener: *question*
Speaker: “What’s going to happen now? I’ll tell you what. First, you are going to take this folder back to your mother. She will think about it for a night or two, just to give herself the illusion of having some control over the situation. Then she will follow the demands I have written down in this envelope anyway, because she does not actually have a choice and she will know that as well as I do.”
Listener: *question*
Speaker: “You look curious again. Fine, I guess it wouldn’t hurt to tell you, seeing how the demands… involve you. There are basically two demands. The first one is that she is to step down from her position as family head and yield the position to you. I don’t care which kind of explanation or excuse she gives others, as long as it is believable. The second demand is that she personally marries you to me.”
Listener: *shocked*
Speaker: “You look so surprised! Surprised and a bit frightened now that I take a closer look. Like a helpless little mouse cowering in front of a snake. Say, do you mind if I call you that from now on? Little Mouse?”

Speaker: “Why am I doing all that? Have you never heard of a political marriage before, little mouse? Though I guess this one is a tad bit unconventional. The leader of the second largest criminal organization being led to the altar by the previous leader, and being married into another family. Oh, the confusion and humiliation that every single one of your underlings must feel at that! Simply exhilarating! And it will completely shake up this game board that I so carefully prepared.”

Speaker: “Yes, prepared. Do you still think my sudden rise to power was a coincidence, little mouse? No no, I’ve been spinning my web for years now, moving all the game pieces into the right places and waiting for the opportunity to strike.”

Speaker: “Did I kill my father? I’m going to leave that answer up to your imagination, little mouse. He was weak, and never knew how to rise to true greatness, despite everything at his disposal. I will make much better use of his resources than he ever could. Under my rule, the families will finally be united and form an actual front against law and order. This city will be ours!”
Listener: *defiant*
Speaker: “Oh no, the other families won’t do anything. At least not until it is too late. I don’t mind telling you a little secret that no one else knows. I have dirt on every single one of them. They all just believe that they are the only one, that I came across it by accident. So they will sit back and wait until one of the others takes the first shot at me, so they don’t have to suffer my retaliation.”
Listener: *confused*
Speaker: “Why am I telling you all this? Simple, because you won’t be able to do anything about it. You will walk out of here freely, but you will be painfully aware of the invisible chains and threads that bind you to me. But don’t worry, I take good care of my things. As long as you don’t act up and behave well enough, you will want for nothing, little mouse. Now that I finally obtained you, I am not going to let you go, ever!”
Listener: *question*
Speaker: “See who finally used her pretty little head for some thinking! If you can pick up on things like that, you may have more use than I initially thought. Yes, I did say finally. I had my eyes on you for years, ever since we met at that big negotiation. You were the only one close to me in age and status, so I naturally paid attention to you. There’s just something poetic about the younger generation overthrowing their parents and leading the way into a brighter future, isn’t it? So I spent the last years, plotting, planning, scheming, or whatever else you might want to call it, trying to find the best way to obtain you and achieve our… my goal. I spied, I threatened, I blackmailed, and I… hurt people, all in order to move all pieces into the exact positions they are in now.”
