Diy projects from the dollar store

Hi everyone, I'm new to powershell and cmd as a whole. I have just started learning, but won't be using it super often so I would prefer not taking a whole course learning.
I need to roll out hardware changes to 100's of employees in the least complicated way possible) and am looking to learn about how it operates in a specific case. Learning question; how are variables stored when running an encoded command?
I attempt to store data in a variable, call it later in the same command, but it returns as empty/null as if it didn't take the input.
Context: Need to rename 100s of local usernames and localhost names. Don't want to waste many employees' time, especially considering many remote workers, and I would prefer as little steps as possible that could go wrong. Need to change usernames due to a new software of ours utilizing local usernames with no spaces in the name, which many (almost all) of our users have.
Best method I was able to come up with was loading an encoded command with a ducky and take user input in powershell.
Powershell commands and order of operations:

1. Command: $newUsername= Read-Host -Prompt "Enter your new username:"; $assetTag= Read-Host -Prompt "Enter your computer's asset tag:"; $currentUserName=(whoami).Split('\')[1] Rename-LocalUser -Name $currentUserName -NewName $newUserName; Rename-Computer -NewName $newUserName$assetTag
2. I encode this command. 3. Input username, and then assetTag.
4. I get an error on the Rename-LocalUser line for the -Name argument being empty or null. What I gather from this is that none of the variables are holding data.

What am I missing in this case? It's worth noting that these commands work on their own, just not when it is run as an encodedCommand of base64 (and the encoding isn't the problem either). Any help or pointing in the right direction is appreciated.

This is a freshly made throwaway so it can’t be traced back to me. I 21M for the past almost 4 years now, have worked my way up in a big retail chain from salesman to sales team manager. It was a very stressful time with my second promotion as I was brand new in my first promotion and my boss was brand new in his new role. We both were promoted up in position so I took his place and he took the store manager position. I took the position and fought for it for weeks because our old store manager told his boss we weren’t ready. But I took the challenge and for the last year have gave it my absolute all. We had a huge issue with staffing and hours issue due to the state of the economy last year. This was our challenge to figure out. And there was a lot of situations we had to face immediately following moving up. The first situation for me personally was the pay. I am payed more than I was, but for my position I do not make nearly enough to afford to invest into my future or save money. I decided that it was because I was brand new with no experience so I worked hard for months and months on end to get a very very minuscule increase in pay that was practically insulting. The next thing was one of the associates issues with attitude on the floor and timeliness on a daily basis. Giving customers attitude, showing up late EVERYDAY, and when I would try to have a conversation about these things which started with a kind and guiding approach to things, I would be met with complete silence and no eye contact. She walked away without a word. After months of this and a write up which I finally thought solved the problem she walked out on us in the middle of one of the busiest nights of the year so far. All throughout this time my boss, who we’ll call Daniel, was not very good at keeping his stress of his new position off of the floor. He would constantly lose his temper at our sales people or even customers. While some customers had it coming. Some didn’t. And the associates definitely did not deserve that from the head honcho of the store. Many of the sales people informed me that they tried to stay out of his way and were nervous around him when he got angry or stressed out because they feared that he would lash out at them for nothing. Me and the other manager in the building decided to have a talk about this with him. Daniel agreed that his attitude hasn’t been since the promotion because he fears he is doing it wrong. We assured him that no matter what we had his back seeing as we all came into our new positions at the same time and we’re a solid team when things were good. But when they were bad? Oh brother, one Saturday we had an issue with every associate on the floor. One of them practically yelled at the store manager for not doing his employee order fast enough when he was simply waiting on an email back from the person who submits orders. The next associate who has been there for two years now was avoiding talking to customers for no apparent reason so I gave a pep talk and got him moving like he usually does. One of our other associates (well call her Olivia) just like our previous problem associate that quit, had a timing issue. We brought it up and eventually wrote her up for it. Olivia is known for always bringing her home drama and stress into work which poisons the work atmosphere on the floor. We have had multiple talks about this and shown her so much support over the last 8 months and have seen no progress. So that meant the niceties are over, I was over her being late, fighting her attitude in the floor, and so much more. This was brought up to Daniel. Yet he just sighed and walked away. I went out to the floor and Daniel pulled me back to the office and told me he caught our newest associate on the floor on his phone. We closed the door and I offered solutions to the problems. However i think Daniel just wanted to vent. But got so heated that he started screaming with associates in earshot of this vent session. He threw his phone and punched his desk and cried and screamed with me there for a few minutes before kicking me out to get a minute to breathe before he apologized to one of my associates for yelling at them earlier. It’s been months since this incident, yet the mood in the store stays the same. Nothing has changed despite the talks, not with Daniel, nor anyone else. It’s a drag to come in everyday. I think of all the possible things I could be doing instead and contemplate leaving. However I wouldn’t be able to without a new job lined up and nothing in my area sounds very nice and I need a job that pays more. Just a little more at best. But I feel so stuck and lost at the moment on what to do..
Therapy appointment tomorrow but it couldn’t wait. I took a sick day off because I have a sore throat and it’s all crashing down on me. I feel lost..

I get blacked out every day as 15 year old stealing bottles from liquor stores. 3 days sober I can’t make the anxiety stop I don’t usually have social anxiety or anything but even sitting alone in my room I just don’t feel okay I need some coping mechanisms besides cutting. I don’t wanna live like this forever.

I don’t know if this is happening at every store, but myself and others in my area received an email regarding how in-store tips will only go to in those classified as in-shop workers. I’m a driver who works in shop a good bit with one other worker. We’re a slower store so we don’t staff more than two people per shift normally. Sometimes three on the weekends. Apparently management is excluded from these tips but “persons in charge” can still get them.
The email specifically mentioned that debit/credit card tips have increased recently. And perhaps there’s a certain unfairness to drivers having their own tips and they wanted to keep it separate for the other workers. So does this mean one person per shift now receives all in-shop tips? Why get rid of the tip pool?
Also the email doesn’t specifically exclude drivers from receiving in-shop tips but we were told by the gm that we will not receive them anymore. Is there anyone with better insight on this? Thank you.

So, I finally bought a new PS5 modern warfare 2 bundle in Germany. I logged into my Indian playstation account and i unknowingly redeemed the German game code on my Indian PSN account, fully installed the game, started playing it and had no issues.
When i recently went through PS store, I saw modern warfare 2 shown as it needed to be purchased in Indian rupees. Now I fear that if I have to format PS5 in future, I might lose access to game permanently and might have to buy it again from indian PSN account. Will this happen? Any help is much appreciated.

Working receiving. Only one here and claims truck comes. He and I are trucking through the store (remodel happening) with seven tvs on an L cart topped with bags of styrofoam.
I can’t see where I’m going but TWO customers stop me and ask where something is in grocery. I estimate the first and am about to do the same for the Second lady when her husband (likely seeing my high vis vest and non-retail speed) makes eye contact with me and tells her, “it’s okay. We’ll find it.”
I have that Midwestern friendly face/energy that makes everyone want to ask me questions. Was happy the husband got that “I work in receiving” energy from me today.

I recently bought a MacBook pro M1 14” ( feb 23 2023), it was working fine, like there were a few hiccups like my trackpad was losing its gestures, or the note pad being stuck or apps like whats app crashing at start up, i thought they were general problems experienced due to bugs in the os. But on the night of 22nd may my laptop shut down on itself and wouldn’t turn back on when the power button was being pressed,despite having 98% charge. I connected the charger and the laptop finally turned on, it asked me to put in my pass at sign in, so i did . As soon as i put in the pass and click enter the laptop would automatically restart itself without booting up to the home screen. So i tried to follow the steps shown on ytb, i erased the hard disk and tried to install the os again, it went fine until the last step where i had to select a hard disk to install the os, when i did, it kept issuing a notification “ hard disk not connected to power source” or like laptop not connected to power source, but the charger’s been connected to the laptop from the start. So the next day i took it to an authorised service centre, i had bought my mac in india and i carried it with me to Georgia(in europe) when i moved for my college. The service people said that there’s an issue with the chipset of the mother board and it needs to be replaced, they quoted me 3414 GEL which is $1332😭
I wanna know if my limited warranty covers this damage. I never installed any 3rd party apps,nor did i spill anything over it. I asked the store ppl to tell me the cause of this issue, they said they dont know 💀 Please help me.

Hello! I have never posted on here before but need advice from others who have been in ldrs PLEASE. I’ll try my best to supply all details and feelings.
Essentially I am wondering if this relationship is something I want to continue to pursue or if the distance is getting to me.
So my current bf and I(f) are both 25, we have been doing long distance since Nov 1st. I’d known him for years but was caught up in another relationship that was really terrible for about 4.5 years off and on. Anyways that ended Christmas of last year and my current bf and I kept bumping into eachother during July and eventually went on a date at the end of July. The date went super well, immediately had feelings and started hanging out nearly everyday and dating three weeks later, he really showed me how you were supposed to be treated in a relationship. The only thing is he had planned to move to NZ in November, which we both acknowledged and both decided to continue seeing eachother until he left. I always knew he was going and I did my best to support that decision, I never said anything about trying to change his mind or any that. He was an amazing bf while here, my parents loved him he was kind attentive supportive my family and friends loved him. Anyways so he moves and had decided that we should breakup because the relationship won’t be as it was, the level of care or energy he can give me wouldn’t be the same and he felt that was unfair. Which is great and he was right because we kept talking but the time change and life changes, I was not really getting a lot of support. He’s very outdoorsy and stubborn and wouldn’t like to text and often would tell me he wouldn’t be on his phone in a polite way but discouraging none the less and we would call once a week but with the time change it would be on his work break and my bedtime. It’s just hard and I felt like an afterthought. I didn’t realize I felt this way till I went there and saw him for a month in April and there was this disconnect between us. He wasn’t as kind or gentle, we eventually talked about it and chalked it up to him being there and needing to take care of himself not really having a space to have his guard down. Super hurtful btw will give more info on this if someone needs. Rest of the trip went great. Then I came home and I’ve had a knot in my gut. He wants permanent residency there but doesn’t know if he will stay there forever. I KNOW and have said I don’t want to live there bc my family is in Canada. So going into this his visa was two years now he’s looking to extend, and the next time I’ll see him I will have to go there again. He would like me to visit for 4 months(which is a short amount of time) but won’t be coming home at all and has no plans to. Where he’s staying in NZ is an hour away from the closest grocery store, he has roommates, and no wifi (I am in an online masters program which is why I need it). I have recently brought up my feelings of anxiety over it all with him, but ultimately don’t know how I feel about this all. I’d like to be able to just go but I also don’t want to be isolated and completely reliant on him. Help if anyone has any advice or thoughts I’m eager to hear.

Toying with the idea to store my and my wife's bikes in our living room. The front runner idea being horizontal wall mounted and stacking the 2 of them. 1.) because it'll be convenient and they'll be out of the way-ish not simply just sitting in a storage area and 2.) bikes are cool to look at and we think it'd be nice to display them on the wall. Weird little caveat though. Im riding a CAAD12 so it has a pretty straight/horizontal top tube, whereas she has a Felt VR40 and the top tube is kicked down a little bit from horizontal. Will this ruin the options for the stacked, horizontal wall mounting? We have plenty of floor to ceiling height. Hoping to find something that looks more furniture-y as opposed to utilitarian hooks of sorts.
