Hi, I (22F) am getting married to (23M, let's call him Sam.) Sam and I have been in a long distance relationship for 4 years and it's honestly been a dream.
Last year, Sam visited me in my own country and it was the best thing I had ever experienced, I have a anxiety disorder and find it hard to leave the house alone/even travel. Sam was really understanding and comforting when I told him I couldn't go out on simple things like going to buy groceries and such when he was here.
Sam originally planned to apply for a visa in my country and decided he didn't want to go back to his and I got really excited at the idea of starting our lives together but when he started texting his mother my future MIL (50F) she got really upset and ignored him for 2? Weeks until he told her he was going to come back.
I was really disappointed but I told him we would eventually get to live together and start our lives and we both cried, while I booked and paid for his return ticket to go home.
(For context I work in a small family grocery store and worked the whole time he was here to support us both and pay rent, my work place is a quick 1 minute next to my apartment and my boss takes really great care of me and knows how bad my anxiety is.)
Fast forward to now and it's been a year and Sam wants me to go visit him and his mother in his country but I told him I couldn't because I get panic attacks thinking about getting on the plane and travelling alone let alone being in a whole other country. Sam is from the US and doesn't live in the best of areas and he had said himself that it was dangerous.
About a week ago Sam texted me telling me he wasn't going to come back unless I visited his country which made me feel quite upset. We went back and forward a little bit before I told him that I was too anxious because I didn't want to get taken, roped or die. (He told me about a incident in his apartment complex where a couple got busted for human.t .) His response was to tell me "There is more men on men crime than women". And told me to take a chill pill. I was quite upset and told him how he made me feel as though I was overreacting and my feelings were invalid, that I wouldn't visit the US.
He got upset at me for the first time ever got upset at me and called me selfish and said the world doesn't revolve around me, I ignored my fiancée and haven't replied, now my future MIL is messaging me telling me that I'm paranoid and that I'm torturing her son.

Hello everyone,
I’m a 34 year old man who was married to who I thought was the love of my life. I met her when I was only 15 years old and we quickly became best friends and eventually dated in our later teen years then married in our early twenties. I was married to her for 13 years and we have two wonderful children together. I feel like a rug was pulled out from under me. She was a school teacher and I worked in a factory doing quality control, we owned a small business together and even owned two homes at one point in hope to rent it out. Our lives seemed great, it definitely had it’s struggles but we had each other and our children.
My son who is now 12 is a blessing and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He enriched my life in so many ways and only a few years later we were happy to find out that we were having another baby. A girl who we were over the moon about but sadly we lost her. It was a extremely low point in my life and still brings me to tears this day. My wife and my son helped me through it and I did everything to help my wife with our loss. She started to feel extreme depression and refused therapy or any other help.
Things seems to get better when we found out that we were having another baby, it was going to be a girl. It obviously didn’t fix the situation or fully heal our hearts over the loss of our lost daughter but it filled us with joy, joy that was much needed in both our lives. So 9 years ago we were blessed with our beautiful little girl who brings us all so much joy.
My wife seemingly started to feel happy again and life started improving. I had to drop out of school so my wife could keep going and also take care of them kids and I worked full time and a few side jobs. It was a worthy sacrifice at the time. She was working on her degree and eventually got her masters with a 4.0. Once she had secured a good paying job I would be allowed to go back to school myself. Years passed and I was able to buy my local comic book store to keep it from closing and it was a dream of our to own our own business.
We eventually grew the store and moved up in our main jobs, her a high school teacher and me a factory worker who got a inspection job that had better pay and hours. Life was seemingly on the up. We bought our second home in what was considered the nicest/safest neighborhood in our city. I only wanted the best for our kids and hopefully to have more.
I found myself working my 7am to 3pm job then my comic shop in the afternoons, 3:15 to about 6pm. I would arrive home and spend the afternoon with my wife and kids. Life was good but I was working all the time, even the weekends. My dream became a nightmare.
Late 2019 we discovered that we were having a baby, it was a boy. My heart was filled with joy except for my wife. It seemed like the depression was returning and stronger than ever. The news of our son brought her into fits or rage and crying spells, I tried to be supportive and understanding but I was at a loss of how to help. Sadly we lost my son, I found myself devastated and alone. My wife was relieved over the loss and I didn’t know how to handle it. I was alone this time and trying my hardest to be supportive but it was difficult. I needed her but the loss was viewed so differently by her.
Later in March of 2020 my so was diagnosed with type one diabetes, it was a hard pill to swallow. Major life changes for a 10 year old. I was trying to sell my shop to be home and support him. Oddly my wife was against it and insisted on me continuing to run the shop.
I started to notice she would leave the home for a few hours after I arrived. It seemed normal to me. She definitely needed her time to unwind and be alone. I just wanted to support her and let her have her space.
Eventually her trips to get milk would last 4 or more hours and sometimes she would come home empty handed. I was growing concerned. Everything seemed somewhat normal except she refused to take our daughter out on Sunday shopping trips anymore. My daughter was confused why it stopped, they had had “girl dates” all of her life but now without warning it was over.
Fights eventually started and sex almost completely stopped. I signed us up for marriage counseling. She agreed to go but never participated in any of the activities for us to work on at home. She became more and more distant and colder to everyone.
On August 1st 2022 my daughter was diagnosed as well with type one diabetes. I was devastated but had to be strong for her. On the 3rd of August 2022 my wife was caught with one of her students. My world was turned upside down.
It’s been almost a year now, somedays I don’t want to get out of bed, but I keep moving for the children. My soon to be ex wife lives with her parents now, I only see my kids half as much as I did. It’s hard to be alone. The house was so full of sound and kids laughing and now it’s quite most days.
My wife is facing criminal charges and my children’s lives have been ruined by this. I don’t know what to do most days. I don’t know who to talk to. Life is hard, it’s only going to get harder from here.

I moved out of my family home in February 2023, so I’ve been out of the house for almost 4 months now. It was messy, it was abrupt, and even now it’s tense because even though I gave my parents the reasoning of my moving out, they cannot accept it and therefore cannot move on and now every conversation (not many since I left) is just a fight for them to be right, and not come to a productive solution regarding anything. I was not paying rent or in any sort of legally-binding “contract” with regards to living there.
After not hearing from them in a few weeks, my father sends me a text out of the blue saying that my parents will be sending me a bill in the mail for “the paint and spackle to repair the walls in your old room” claiming that I got hair dye on the wall and the shelves that were stuck onto the wall were ripped off and damaged the sheet rock.
The issue I am having with this is: 1. That stain on the wall is not hair dye. My family had moved into that home in November of 2021, and it was newly built, we are the first residents. The paint had left residue on my fingers for the first few months we were there. And I noticed this dark stain appearing on the wall where I’d put my head back onto sometimes. The first actual photo I have of it was taken in January of 2022, months before I even touched hair dye. I sent that but it was ignored because it disproved his point about it being hair dye.

1. Regarding the sheet rock from those shelves, when I moved out, a lot of belongings were still in my room, I left abruptly but was in heavy communication with my parents at the time. I would be at work for my 9 hours a day and I’d get texts that sporadically change from me getting more of my stuff after work to now, all of my belongings were going to be put in garbage bags and placed on the porch, I was from then on NOT Allowed to enter the house, or step on the property without their supervision. Okay, that’s fine. Except they left up all the command strip hooks and shelves that I had stuck to the wall. I was not given the opportunity to get those off the wall myself. When we moved to the house in late 2021, we were all told to not put nails in the wall, if we wanted to hang stuff up, to stick things onto the wall, and was told we had command strips in a drawer if anyone needed it. The shelves (there was 5 total) came with the option to nail or stick to the wall with provided double sided peel & stick tabs, It was something random off Amazon I got as a secret Santa gift. I figured okay, I’ll stick them since I was told to not use nails. They were not Command strips and did not have the tab that hangs down that you can pull during removal. So I am now being told that I didn’t install them properly, I say there was no tab that came with it, and then I get told that we were ALL (me and my 4 siblings) told to use ONLY Command strips and NOTHING else. Which is very not true at all, I would have had NO problem buying solely command strips for the little shelves if that was the case, I actively try to do whatever I can to avoid a problem and have been extremely compliant with many of the wishes my parents had. But now I’m being told that we actually WERE in fact told only Command strips and they have “witnesses” (my 4 siblings that they’ll manipulate into complying and just going along with what they want so they can “win”).

So I told them, if they didn’t just spontaneously decide to leave all of my belongings out on the porch and ban me from entering the house, and just let me gather my belongings on my own, I could’ve removed the tabs properly, and would’ve done research to see how I can remove them WITHOUT damaging the wall. Instead, my dad decides to remove them months later, just rips them off the wall and is now blaming me and sending me this bill because “It actually is your fault because in the eyes of the law, BUT FOR, you installing those shelves that you were not suppose to, said damage would not have happened.”
I am unsure of how to proceed. I obviously do not want to and don’t think I should pay this bill they’re gonna send. If I am being ignorant I’d also like to know because I really don’t have a lot of knowledge with this kind of stuff. My parents would not have done this if I moved out of their terms, and have just been fighting with me and being petty since I moved out. Is it possible for there to be legal repercussions/actions against me if I don’t pay ? Thank you.

I (26F) have checked out of my 6 year marriage with my husband (30M) because I think he cheated.
Some background, my husband and I met shortly after I had my first child. He stepped up as a father and we were engaged in a few short months. He adopted my first child and is a great father. There were some red flags I guess I missed along the way. One, just a few months into our relationship he got into contact with an ex, and they communicated about how they missed each other. But I still said yes, and we married two year later.
A couple of months into our wedding, he confided in me about his sexuality and wanted to explore. He jumped on this immediately, not really thinking, and ended up messing around and had one night stands with two males. However he very quickly realized that he wasn’t into that and dropped it. I was okay with him trying to find himself, however at first he was trying to do it all behind my back. So red flag number two. I came from a very broken home so keeping my family was important to me. 4 years go by and things get better and he’s more open and honest with me.
We had our second and third child roughly three years ago, and things were wonderful and with my fertility issues we quickly wanted to try for one more. We loved our daughters very much and things looked up very much after all the issues in the beginning of our relationship. I fell pregnant with our final child. It was a rough pregnancy. I was drained working and taking care of the kids and housework. I was in a lot of pain almost daily.
About a month before our final child was born, I found out he was having an emotional affair and honestly cheating on me. He had started a new job and became close to a coworker. He talked about her a lot and I have expressed my concerns months ago, and even the night before I found out he crossed a line. I told him about what emotional affairs were and to be careful not to cross lines but that I was happy he loved his new job. Months go by about hearing stories about her, and some not being suitable for work. She even showed him inappropriate photos of herself at work. Yet he thought this was fine because they were both in relationships.
He had started telling me how he was telling her about our sex lives, kinks, and issues we had in our relationship even though I told him this was crossing a line. The night before things took a turn I went to him and told him how uncomfortable I was with what all he was telling her and he assured me so much that he wouldn’t do anything.
Well, he does cross a line. They begin inappropriate things while at work together, even sending her a photo of himself and her sending one to him. I of course found out about it all. You can’t hide much from me. I confronted him. And he said it’s cause he was lonely and didn’t feel wanted while I was a month away from having our baby and miserable. Somehow this was all my fault. I no longer trust him obviously and they still work and see each other almost daily. He immediately blocked her after the ordeal before I even confronted him. even telling her it was a major mistake and he didn’t want to lose his family. He knew he Fucked up. Now everything is broken yet he thinks we’re perfectly fine.
I suffer from PPD. My child was born happy and healthy a few weeks ago and I love my babies all of my babies. But I have mentally checked out of my marriage. I go with the flow. I do what’s expected of me. I just don’t want to get sucked back into depression and I fear I will. I don’t think I can leave him. I don’t want a broken family. But mentally, I am done with him. I am a student at university and I am renting a student home during my upcoming academic year. Firstly, the property states that only students may live on the premises, and one of our tenants is not a student but we failed to disclose this. How severe would the legal repercussions be in terms of avoiding council tax?
As well as this, we are technically renting a property for 3 tenants, but the property has 4 bedrooms. Would there be legal percussions to letting another person live in the extra bedroom without disclosing this to the landlord or council ?

I (27F) and my husband Ryan (30M) have been married 3 years. Ryan is from a different country and I’m American. We live in the US and share two children. Ryan comes from a large toxic and co-dependent family. I’ve had issues with his parents and siblings (except 1) since day 1. His family has looked down on me and insulted me to my face and privately to Ryan about a lot of things, such as my openness with my mental health struggles, my pro LGBTQ views, my thoughts that a woman is more than just a wife and mother, etc. Most of Ryan’s family is unemployed and live off their wealth. Ryan and myself work full-time and they look down on me, saying I’m not a good mom and wife. They make nasty comments about my parents (who paid our rent for 2 years during Covid when I was laid off), poke fun at Ryan’s weight (he’s gained a bit since we got married), and overall have nothing nice to say. My breaking point was when I gave birth to our youngest child 6 months ago, and when I allowed them to meet her the day I was discharged from the hospital (they live abroad and they were leaving to home the next day), Ryan’s mom started giving criticisms to me. From that point on, I don’t talk to them on the phone, I respond curtly to texts, and when they came to US 2 weeks ago, I met with them once at a restaurant. I let Ryan and my kids interact as much as they want. Whenever Ryan brings up anything about any family member, I listen politely but when he sings their praises hoping to get me to change my opinion on them, I tell him that I think they’re selfish, narcissistic, toxic, homophobic, and sexist people in which I do not wish to associate with, and I’m not interested in him trying to change my mind. His family also has been giving him crap about my dissociation with them, and it really upsets him.My family and friends think I’m too nice, but he says I’m acting like an AH. So, AITA?

Still coming off the end of a roommate who I felt very deeply for. One of the things that hurt most for me and one of my other roommates caring for this person was the money stuff, because we both were working hard to earn what we had and our pwBPD would just take and take. They couldn't keep a job and put minimal effort into looking, citing how tired or disabled or sick or depressed they were, but they refused to go on disability and gave up trying for unemployment after a month or so (this was one of the things that made me decide to stop talking to them).
Meanwhile, their needs were constant. They needed cigarettes, alcohol, takeout and delivery every day, and then would insist on giant grocery sprees where we would go to multiple stores and spend hundreds of dollars for a couple meals. This was in addition to us splitting their rent because they could never pay, covering their utilities which they never paid either, insurance for their car they couldn't pay, and, at one point, $300 each to keep the bank from taking their car due to lack of payment.
Once, my roommate mentioned to me that they didn't think our pwBPD could see money as real, despite claiming over and over that they grew up poor and were very aware of money and what it meant; this was absolutely something you could never ever say to them or indicate in any way. I've never met anyone else who tried so little to get a job while being paid for by other people-- or even like, tried so little to get financial help at all? After one of their car crashes my roommate offered to help them knock down their fees significantly and they declined. Found an excuse to give up on unemployment. Wouldn't take disability. Called me bitchy for asking them to find a replacement to sublet their room when they said they were moving out, then found an excuse for why they couldn't and I had to do it instead, so we still are paying for the room to this day. And for what? Why?
Sometimes they acted like they felt actually bad about people buying stuff for them, but it didn't stop them from taking, and I just can't understand why you wouldn't want to put in the effort? I did all the cleaning in our house too, including cleaning up after their constant messes, and after a while it was almost like they avoided putting any effort in out of spite. And also, after all these things they just... still made up conspiracies about why I hated them. In reality, my whole life revolved around taking care of them.
When they got fired from their last job after talking back to the boss, I sent them jobs that were perfect for them, fitting their very specific needs for a job. They said they understood where I was coming from but they 'just needed some time to be sad' before looking for something new. They didn't get a job for the rest of the time they lived with us. We paid for everything.
One weekend they pressured another one of our friends into coming with them back to their home city for the week. She didn't want to do it at all and not for that long and actively refused but they can't take no for an answer and kept pushing until she broke. Once they got there, our pwBPD made her pay for a bar crawl, several hundred dollars. She could only leave when she stressed to them that she didn't have any money left to give them, because she was unemployed and was very stressed looking for a job and wanted to save. This was another incident that made me go NC with our pwBPD; it made me lose even more respect for them, even though they had been disappointing me every day for months, to be honest.
Just like... why? It still haunts me. Like what thought process leads them to think this is okay? Personally I think thinking about how much we were spending on them made them feel guilty or ashamed, and instead of doing something about it they just decided not to think about it anymore. They once told my roommate to never mention how much they'd spent on them over the years (which totaled to far more than what I spent on them when they lived here) because it made them feel bad. It's just so strange, this juxtaposition of like, constant victimhood and weird entitlement and refusal to help themselves.

Questions

1. How will I know his condition has come to a point where I can no longer increase his quality of life or if he’s suffering?
   
2. I don’t feel comfortable giving sub-q’s at home, I don’t like needles, we have the kit at home but we may just go to the vet twice a week and have them do it (the vet actually recommended DAILY). He also doesn’t like to be picked up after being given the sub-q’s. Can skip sub q’s for now based on the creatinine numbers?
   
3. He ate the 5x tubes Puree’s a the morning of the blood work, could this have skewed the results? The phos contents 3 tubes is known to be 0.55% DMB, the other 2 I am not sure of the phos content, but I guess it was probably low as wet treat food seems to be.
   
4. Some times I see very tiny amount of blood (like a few drops) on a little pellet, he had this issue on and off but I do not think its related to the CKD, just constipation he’s had for a while. It is never excessive or constant. Is this a bad sign from the CKD?
   

I am going to try to keep this short and as to the point as possible. Please ask me any questions if something does not make sense or missing.
Ozzy started eating less and less and we didn’t become alarmed to it until around end of March 2023. We initially thought it was teeth issues since he started preferring wet food over dry. Vet recommended a full teeth cleaning. They had to do bloodwork and the bloodwork came back with the alarming CKD type results on April 19th, 2023 when his teeth were cleaned/x-rayed. I have the urine sample results they also took on this day, but not the blood results from this day. At this point our priority was to get him to eat regularly because it he was barely eating 2-3 weeks following the procedure (just greenies treats/temptations creamy puree). His weight peaked at 11.5 lbs over 6 months ago and is currently 9.6 lbs, he’s usually been around 10.5 lbs.
We started syringe feeding him exactly 2 weeks ago and it was a relief, he still doesn’t eat on his own but will eat the syringe blended up food. Unfortunately, his follow-up bloodwork did not come back better, but slightly worse.
Current Diet
Along with 4 – 8 Temptations Creamy Beef Puree Tubes daily, we do 2 – 3 cans of the below food. His calorie intake for the day is about 200 – 250 kcal.
-Hill’s KD Wet Canned Food (varying flavor) 2.9 oz/~70 kCals
-Weruva Low Phos Canned Wet Food (varying flavors) 3oz/~80 kCals
We have been syringe feeding him after blending the canned food with a little water. Only way he eats, he will eat the tube treats alone however, he loves those.

Yesterday we also started mixing in a phos binder due to the bad bloodwork. 2 mL 2 – 3 times a day. We just add 6 mL with the 3 cans we blend.
Activity Levels
He continues using the bathroom and litter box. He is a little active in the morning and night, but sleeps most of the day. Some days he will play with the other kitten, but I can definitely see his energy levels have decreased and not as active.

I also did try my best in APUSH class and i feel like she probably wrote a lot about that, including about my character.

AP Psychology teacher (6/10): Wrote it in a couple of days, so not sure how strong it was. I feel like she somewhat got to know me in AP Psych class but nothing outside of the classroom. She also didn't know what COMMON APP when I asked her so this was probably a first for her, which is kinda a red flag lol but not anything bad. I feel like it was probably average to above average, but who knows it could have been well-written.
City employee internship advisor (5/10): I got the letter of recommendation after my internship and it was very generic, but i still asked her to fill it out for the community recommender part of the Common app recommendation section. I think she wrote like an extra sentence or two but people have told me it was very generic and didn't really demonstrate extra qualities about myself.
Interviews
Had 1 alumni interview with Dartmouth College. I would rate it a 7/10. I got along with her pretty well but I did have some hick ups but I really was able to express myself well. I did prepare for it but it wasn't anything extraordinary.
Essays
UC PIQ Essays (8.5/10): I spent a lot of time writing/editing my UC personal insight questions. I went to both my AP English literature and AP English language teachers, my counselor, one of my close friends, my APUSH teacher, and online "advisors" who somewhat helped although I did pay them upwards of $400 in total to review/edit. I started writing them on November 1st, but I went through so many drafts. I had like 40 pages of just drafts on the google doc. I did have lots of people go over it (which may have been a bad thing due to an overwhelming amount of different advice/feedback/edits they had). I also did pay for online college advisory services to look over my essays, which wasn't too helpful because they gave very minimal edits/feedback. I think three of my PIQ essays were pretty strong at the point . The fourth PIQ essay I started writing the week of the deadline and it turned out pretty good, but not super strong. I feel like one of my UC essays was especially strong for how well-written it was, how unique it was, and how much it demonstrated my personal values/challenges. I truly do feel like my essays on leadership, overcoming a challenge, favorite academic subject, and community essay shined through on me as an applicant and demonstrated who I was as well as my potential.
Common APP PS essay (7/10): As for my Common App Personal Statement Essay, I started on December 16th (one day after my birthday LOL). I tried being different and writing about an inanimate object I've had since I was young. I wrote about this and basically mixed in one of my strongest UC Essays from above into one really well-written essay. I think it was an alright essay but now looking back on it, it wasn't that well-written LOL. I didn't have a winter break and I remember editing one of my supplemental essays like 10 minutes before New Years LOL. I had like 20 supplemental essays to write and I think some of them were really well-written and insightful, while some were written as if it was written last-minute (because it was). But I really liked my community essay, at that point, it was really polished and well-written so I had that as my basis for all the community supplemental essays. For my common app personal statement and supplemental essays, i spent upwards of $600 for online college essay editing services, which was absolutely not worth it because I feel like i could just relied on my personal feedback and not others. However, I did spend all my winter break applying to like 16 private schools, including writing the supplemental essays and common app personal statement that winter break. The topic of my PS statement was more of a grit story and what I learned after working with my mom a lot with house cleaning and how it has changed my outlook on life.

Additional Information: Although I only got I would get into mid-tier schools like UC Irvine or something, I am really happy about my results! Despite being rejected from almost all the private schools besides Vanderbilt and Pepperdine, I really did like how Vanderbilt chose me. It was a super difficult decision picking between Vanderbilt CS (intention to switch to college of engineering) and Berkeley Data Science, I ultimately chose Berkeley because of how prestigious it was for the technology sector and how close it was from home (around 2 hour drive). Although Vanderbilt truly did appeal to me with its student social life scene, academic and social life balance, good food, new location, happy student body, and rigorous academics, it was a bit too far from home. However, although I only got into 7 out of 27 colleges I applied for, I am happy that top universities did pick me and that I was able to choose from such excellent universities. Cal is where my next four years will be! Now, that's only if UCLA doesn't get me off their waitlist, but even then I might still choose Cal if I get off the waitlist. go bears!

Heyo guys! Me and 3 other friends will be visiting Japan in August, and we put up an itinerary draft before booking our airbnbs, and would like to have a second opinion before locking in the trip.
We are all aged begin 20s and will come from the Netherlands with 7 hours of time difference and an overnight flight. We will land in Narita.
Day 1:
We will land in Narita around 14:00 local time. We will travel to our airbnb around shinjuku, and explore shinjuku before going to sleep relatively early

Hey All…I’ll try to summarize this very complicated situation as best as I can. Issues: 1. My Parents have never been good with money and my father has never been able to hold down a steady job. Because of this, they bought a home they really could never afford, but out of pure luck and miracles they’ve been able to keep until now. The house was scheduled to foreclose on April 7th, but they initiated a chapter 7 bankruptcy and that halted the foreclose. They have until the end of July (bankruptcy will be discharged) to either sell the home or start making mortgage payments again or else they will get foreclosed on. 2. The home was originally bought with two mortgages. After a few years of steady payments, they once again ran into a few problems and couldn’t pay their mortgage. They did a loan modification of which it was supposed consolidate their two mortgages into one. Forward to Nov. 2022 and low and behold, the second mortgage (lesser of the two) sends a letter saying that the mortgage, theirs, has not been paid in 7+ years (we did ask why we never got a notice from them about missed payments, no letters emails or calls for seven years until now) and they are going to foreclose unless they pay back all the missed payments + fees. Fast forward to April, 7th 2023 and lots of calls and emails with the bank(s)/mortgager and don’t want to cooperate and they are about to foreclose. Because of all the late payment fees and other “fees” the bank is charging, the mortgage has literally not been paid down after 14 years of living in the home and they now owe more than when they bought the home. Home was bought for 210k and now need to sell the home for about 320k to satisfy both mortgages…per realtors the home is worth around 400k now, per the neighborhood/comparables. 3. My dad started real estate investing in 2009 and did quiet well for about 10 years and unfortunately it all came crashing down after a few bad decisions and being over leveraged. The chapter 7 bankruptcy should wipe out most of their revolving credit debt (approx 110k) and because they live in Texas, they can keep their home after the bankruptcy is over. 4. Questions: can my parents sell the home to me at a discount? What about gifting the home, and what complications should I be aware of? Not sure what other options are available…any ideas? I’d really appreciate it. 5. Goals: I love my parents and they brought us to this great country and have given us everything. But we can’t just keep giving them money just to see it mis-used because of their bad financial habits. The thought of buying their home is, admittedly selfish, we live in Northern California and don’t foresee being able to buy a home here for a looong time. We intend to buy their home as an investment and pay it down in under 15 years and sell it later down the line. This would satisfy our goals to have real estate as part of our net worth and also allow my parents to not be homeless. We would only buy the home if we can afford the monthly payment + our own rent payment. We would ask them to pay us as much rent as they can to help out. But based on history, know to prepare for them not being able to pay every month.

The issue: a few months ago my wife got into a huge confrontation with my mom and siblings over an honest accident. I don’t think the confrontation was justified and her behavior was hysterical. It was all based on an accident and miscommunication. I can get past the incident and treat it as an outlier, but she refuses to admit ANY wrongdoing. Meanwhile everyone else is willing to come forward apologize for the miscommunications. I find myself arguing with her all the time…even when she’s not home. Lastly, we just bought a house but no kids. Tl;Dr
Edit: The conflict started when we were supposed to host family (brother & his family) visiting from out of town for about 5 days. Everyone was excited and things started out smoothly. They have hosted us before and they rolled out the red carpet for us. My wife shared a few house rules when they arrived, one of them being to please not leave out snacks because our 2 dogs WILL get to them. The SIL made sure to place their snacks on my office desk. HOWEVER, my 5 year old niece had 2 chocolate chip cookies in her backpack that were missed. The little girl left the door open and our senior 16 year old dog ate them. We found out because as soon as the dog came downstairs he threw it all up. The dog seemed fine, he’s eaten all kinds of stuff before.
My wife was at Disneyland w her friends, but I texted her what happened not thinking she would get upset...but her response was intense, she called me chewing my ear out saying she doesn’t understand how they messed this up after she clearly stated the rules. At first I was a broken record assuring her it was an accident and the dog seems fine, then we argued, then I told my family to head out to the beach for the day without me because I’m going to watch the dog, my wife left Disneyland as well to watch the dog with me. I think her coming home was more out of guilt of me staying while everyone else was enjoying the weekend.
When she got home around 2pm I’ve never seen her so enraged. We took the dog to the vet and the vet said he was fine but he could still pump his stomach more for $700. I said fine let’s do it in hopes it would give her peace of mind and calm everything down. Instead, she became more enraged, she began texting my brother demanding an apology etc. which he responded “I’m sorry to hear about this” when my relatives got home, including mom and grandma, my wife was slamming doors and not acknowledging anyone. I was trying to keep things from escalating more, I quietly explained to my whole family that she’s really upset. Brother offered to help pick up the bill (sent me $350), and said no problem we’ll head out in the morning to be out of your way. Long story short, the wife got confrontational with everyone in the living room, my brother apologized again, the SIL got defensive, my mom interjected/raised her voice(I calmly shut down my mom and made her apologize to my wife which she did 3 times that night), it was a mess. Once mom and grandma left the house she began to cry on living room floor leaning against the couch. I just sat next to her caressed her hair, then about an hour later she packed up her stuff and left for two nights.
This intense lashing out has happened a few times before but it was isolated between us two. Now that my whole extended family became collateral damage I am drawing the line, I feel humiliated. Other details: me (31) wife (30), dated 4 years before marriage. Before buying our house we rented with her parents and spent a lot of quality time with her side, including vacations. But hardly any time with mine.. just dinner once in a while. Our arguments consist of her threatening divorce to then calming down and trying minimize the whole thing by saying “it wasn’t even an overreaction, I wasn’t cursing or throwing things” She absolutely hates my mom over indirect things she has taken offense to but never brought up until marriage.
