The background:
My boyfriend (m, 27) and I (f,32) have been together for about 5 years. He has ADHD and anxiety. He made a career switch last fall and he got his realtors license. I supported him through that emotionally and financially.
As we were warned when he first started the process to become a realtor, it is taking him a long time to become established. He does have 3-4 clients he is working with on a regular basis, but no luck yet with sales.
While he was getting his license and studying for the test, he quit his old job that he hated so he would have less stress and more time to focus on studying. Probably due to his ADHD, getting his license took a lot longer than he planned. He did not have any income during that time (about 3 months). After he passed his licensing exam, I practically had to beg him to get a part time job so he would at least have some income and stop going into further credit card debt. I tried to help him brainstorm options that I thought he would like and would be flexible for working as a realtor. He resisted for a bit and then suddenly announced he had a job in a local hardware store. He hates the job. And I feel like he resented me for making him get a job. They only give him his schedule a week at a time, and he isn’t allowed to use his phone while on register to talk to his clients.
Also of note, he lost his parents health insurance after his 26th birthday and has not signed up for any health insurance because it was “too expensive.” He has stopped taking his prescribed ADHD medication because it was “too expensive.” Which it was ridiculously expensive, but we did start using coupons to help with cost.
During all this, he has gained a significant amount of weight. I did as well, over the last few years, but am actively working on it. He has trouble committing to any lifestyle change for longer than a couple weeks. He tells me he is proud of my weight loss, but always follows it with a degrading comment about his own body.
He frequently tells me that he “should just go jump off a bridge.” He hates that he is “fat” and “poor.”
One of my flaws is that I try to solve everyone’s problems. So when he complains, I try to offer solutions. I’ve suggested helping him with his diet. That he can workout with me. That he find a second part time job to supplement his income. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people complain about something without doing anything to change the problem. He embodies this pet peeve lately.
I just don’t know what to do. When things are good, we have fun. We both love travel. We have a dog together. We live together. We have a great friend group. But I am at my wits end. I don’t know what to do. I am very tempted to tell him we both need to go to therapy, or I’m done. But I am worried what he will do if I leave him. When I ask him if he thinks anti depressants might be a good idea, he always replies that they are too expensive. When I suggest trying to find a different PT job, he just says “they’re all the same.”
We moved in together during the pandemic. I worry that the pandemic covered up some of these issues and made it so we stayed together longer than we should have.
Hopefully this is specific enough, but basically my question is, is there anything else I can do? I don’t think I want to give up yet, but I also don’t want to continue like this forever.

It's been a while, but time to dust off some stuff out of the garage for a few flushes. I make grain spawn like a pro. I'm debating what to do after because I don't have a lot of time or equipment (obviously I have a pressure cooker and some basics). I have a leftover tub rigged out as a basic shotgun fruiting chamber. Should I add perlite and just dump a few colonized jars on top and call it a day? Or, anything just as easy recommended?
Just don't want to make a bunch of trips to the hardware store due to laziness. Thank you.

Unrelated to 'linuxaudio', I recently switched from Windows to Linux and frankly it's been great. I don't favour any distros (yet), but I'm currently using Mint 21.1 because I like the look of it.
As for audio, I've been using Fruity Loops on a Windows machine sporadically for about 8 years. FL worked and it was enough, I suppose, but now that my heart is set on Linux (I never want to go back to windows!) it's not gonna be an option anymore, is it?
I have a Scarlett 6i6 1st gen and I was actually able to use it with my Linux machine, but I think it broke recently. Not long after successfully testing the interface with PulseAudio, I switched to PipeWire completely and haven't been able to use my beloved Scarlett since. I tested it on my old windows machine and while FL detected all the inputs and outputs, it was super super laggy and weird and there was no real signal.
PipeWire, on the other hand, does not detect most inputs and none of the outputs, but the inputs it does detect actually work (mic/instrument on the front).
I went to my local music equipment store and they also think it's probably a hardware malfunction. They let me test my PipeWire setup with a Steinway interface and we were able to find all the I/Os using qpwgraph.
Well, I tend to be a bit hasty, so I bought a new interface (Arturia MiniFuse 4) as it has pretty much the same I/Os as the 6i6 did. I initially ignored the usual installation instructions (for obvious reasons, I hope) and plugged it right in. In the sound settings I found analogue and digital inputs and outputs, but in qpwgraph some line and the midi I/Os are not shown.
This was when I looked at the online instructions and realised that I needed to activate the product to get additional control software and such to use all the features... and of course the software is not available for Linux.
It all kind of demotivated me, but I see three things that I could do from here:
- This comment suggests that by activating the MiniFuse 4 I might be able to install the latest firmware, which might solve my problems. On the other hand, I don't know if I can return it if it doesn't work.
- I could also try to find someone to fix my old interface, but I don't know about that. It's quite old and it might not even work in the end.
- I found out about reverb.com and this list and I could try to get a good deal for one of the interfaces from the list marked 'gold'.
However, I don't feel like making that decision today and this post is already quite long and, most importantly, for all of you who have made it this far, I appreciate your time <3<3<3. Please feel free to comment on anything mentioned in my post, I really feel like I can learn from others no matter the perspective.

Hey guys. So, I've got quite a problem here. Though, as the title indicates, I might have a solution - I just want to know if it's ridiculous.
(Long paragraphs ahead. Tl;dr available)
Tl;dr - I've been given a Macbook Air 2011 (11") and I've wiped the drive. I can boot into internet recovery, but can't install the OS. Startup Disk doesn't detect my installation USB drives, and internet recovery reinstallation only comes up with "Recovery server could not be contacted". If somehow I could install Windows or Linux on this thing, could I install Mac OS through there?

Context:
I have recently been given a 2011 Macbook Air (11"). It was all fine and dandy, until the person who had given to me (along with my suggestion) allowed me to 'reset' / reformat the laptop. Coming from windows machines, I thought this would be easy. Plus, I did a bit of searching, and saw that the process of installing MacOS after erasing the original disk would've been easy enough. It WAS easy enough, but the hard part now is that I can't find a way to install MacOS.

• I've tried installing using a bootable USB made through TransMac (I don't have any other mac machines) + a DMG of both High Sierra (the OS that the laptop had before I wiped it), and another time using a DMG of Lion (the OS that the laptop originally had seemed to ship with). But, none of them have come up within the 'startup disk' options, which was weird, because when I went through the terminal to find them using diskutil; the USB that I had plugged in was there and had all the right information. The USB was even detected in disk utility, but it just wasn't being detected on startup disk. I also tried doing 'diskutil mount' to the USB(s), but still, to no avail. Nothing also came up when I booted the Macbook up by pressing the option/alt key trying to get to a screen that's supposed to ask me which disk to boot from. All possible key combinations would only send me into the wifi selection screen before it boots me into internet recovery mode.
• I've also tried internet recovery, both in the mode where it installs High Sierra, and in the mode where it installs Lion; but both of them come up with an error "The recovery server-" 'cannot be reached' (paraphrasing). I heard that this was because both versions of Mac are so outdated that Apple doesn't properly store copies of them on their servers anymore, so one solution was to set the date in terminal, and I've tried all sorts of dates, but none of them have seemed to change the outcome of using internet recovery mode's "Reinstall Mac OS" options.

NOW: I have been wondering if the process of installing Windows 7, 8.1, 10, or even Linux first (I run Pop OS on my main machine, so I have no problem having to fuss around with that if it means I'll be out of this OS-less purgatory) and THEN trying to install a Mac OS installer (somehow) on there and installing it from within Windows / Linux would actually work? Heck, would I even be able to install any OS at all, given that I can't even choose which disk to boot into in startup disk?
Sorry if this was all quite long-winded. I've been at this for a week now with about two browser windows and like 150 tabs, and I've done all the things that I've seen on the internet; save for perhaps taking out the SSD and replacing it or something, if it's been compromised. I've even gone through three different USB Drives to use the install media onto (granted, all using TransMac), some USB 2.0 and some USB 3.0 just to give myself the best of chances. Do note; I have high hopes that I'll still be able to salvage the hardware on this since it's still fully functional. I've just naively flubbed the OS erasure. I just really hope that I could continue to use Mac OS on this thing, or at the very least: any OS. Would be a waste of metal if I couldn't, and wouldn't be nice on my conscience to know that I've done this to the macbook when it was completely functional and working through a High Sierra install just before I wiped the darn disk, haha.

Hi all !
I hope to get some answers so I can finally put my mind at ease ( that and the hardware store I order from only opens for a short period on a Sunday ).
I'm looking to tile my own bathroom, fully, and currently I believe it's brick walls, with plaster and then painted. I've been sanding it today after researching, watching videos ect, on what to do, so that the wall is ready for tiles. Let me add that there are some tiles there already , just not a lot.
Is is ok for me to just sand the wall, to get rid of most of the point that is there, and then tile onto it ? I have heard that maybe you should PVA the walls first to prime them, should I do this also ?
The plaster I believe is in pretty good shape, the house I think was built in 1960s / 1980s , incase that's any help but I have no clue when any recent works were done.
Tiles are 60 cm X 30 cm Ceramic, roughly a thickness of 8mm

I went out to the local hardware store - turned out to be a wasted journey because they didn’t have what I needed.. but the idea of going I was instantly panicked, sweating, nauseous- you name it.. it’s UK weather 23/24 degrees too and I struggle more in the heat with anxiety.
I am taking 50mg of sertraline going up to 100mg not really noticing a massive difference yet.. it is so difficult dealing with anxiety, I even have had to get a job working from home. The constant stress and feeling like you’re going to collapse is so difficult to manage.

I have seen a lot of people deciding that they will continue to use their Ledger devices without updating firmware for as long as possible. I think there is still a lot of misinformation and misunderstanding in the seed extraction drama so I will try to clarify those misconceptions and share my perspective below.
The newest Ledger Recovery function is optional and allows you to send out your encrypted seed to 3rd parties for supposed safekeeping. You need to perform KYC and pay a monthly subscription fee for that.
The problem is that a lot of people believed that there is no possibility for the seed to leave the device. That the seed was safely stored in the Secure Element, where it would be used to sign transactions, and signed transactions would be the only thing leaving the SE. The reality turned out to be quite different, and a lot of people got angry as they were misled by the marketing.
Technically, nothing has changed. The "backdoor" to extract your seed might have been present in their closed source firmware since day 1. Basically there are two options.
You either continue to trust Ledger that their firmware is "safe" and does not extract your seed without your consent, in which case you continue to use your Ledger devices with up-to-date firmware;
or you decide that you were misled into false thinking and do not trust Ledger anymore, in which case using your Ledger with outdated firmware does not help, because you cannot be sure if older firmware versions have not already secretly exported your seed, and you need to DYOR and carefully choose a different hardware wallet provider, which means cold wallet or airgapped wallet, because all wallets that connect to a device with Internet connection are technically able to export and send out your seed if the firmware is malicious.
I am not going to tell anyone whether they should continue to use their Ledger devices or choose a different hardware wallet, but I don't see a point in using outdated firmware - this only makes you miss security updates and locks you out from new features.
TLDR: use your Ledger with up-to-date firmware or choose a different wallet altogether, there is no benefit in using outdated software because "the backdoor" could have been there since day 1.

Very weird issue with my s21 that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. My SIM card stopped working abruptly last weekend. I struggled to get it out to clean it as the SIM card tray was really stuck. I *might* have pushed a paperclip into a few other holes in the process of trying to get the SIM tray out ;-o The Verizon store tried a new SIM, also didn't work so they set up an eSIM, which works fine.
After that, my voice type (speech to text) no longer worked.
I've checked every related thing in Settings and made sure the mic has all the Permissions it needs. I went through all the troubleshooting tips I could find including booting into Safe Mode, doing a Recovery boot and clearing the cache and finally, when all else failed, a factory reset. No luck getting voice type to work. I've also tried installing different keyboards including Gboard.
Here's the bizarre part... If I'm on a phone call and I click the microphone in the google search bar, voice text works! But only while I'm actually connected in a phone call and only with the google search bar - voice text still doesn't work in any other apps.
I thought I might have buggered the secondary mic but it appears the hardware works under one very specific set of conditions.
