2023.06.09 17:40 Legitimate-Window686 Bike tyre cut - would you ride it or change it?

I was out a few days ago, and had a puncture. Changed the tube and came home - just to realise that the new tube were flat. Then I saw some kind of a stick (or similar) that was stuck in the tyre. I pinched it out and it has left a small hole. Would you ride this tyre or throw it away and buy a new one? It’s been used for around 1000k, so not too much, I’d say. Hope you can help me out

you can’t see them but there are two thermostats inside for the heat emitter and UVB lamp. i also cover the right backside and top of her tank with a light blanket for more coziness and to keep the humidity in. i just bought some artificial plants to create more possible hides, but is there anything else i can do? i love her so much, i want her to have the happiest home possible!

2023.06.09 17:39 bepis49 Disputing bill with Gas company in court in September. Gas company threatening to shut off service unless paid now.

I live in Massachusetts, and a few months ago I received a bill from my gas company claiming I owe over $900. I'm not going to get too much into the details (I can if needed) but a tech came out and discovered the gas meters were incorrectly measuring between mine and the second floor neighbors and I was charged the difference (I rent in a three apartment home). After getting no where with the gas company to resolve this bill I took legal action.
I have a scheduled small claims court trial for the amount of the bill in September of this year to dispute this. I have received letters from the gas company stating if I do not pay this bill, they will shut off my service at the end of this month. When I call to explain my situation they do not care and say it must be paid now. The bill was given to me in February and I have been paying my normal monthly bills on-time and have not missed one. I have told them that the bill is being disputed in court but they insist on it being paid now to continue my service.
I have done a bit of research and found this ( https://www.masslegalhelp.org/housing/lt1-pullout-6-utilities ) and followed the recommendations under "Resolve a dispute with a utility company". Also, I have told the gas company to protect my service back when I had first informed them I am taking legal action back around March. I have not heard anything back from the DPU yet.
I am just looking for advice as I have never had any experience with something like this and want to make sure all my ducks are in a row. I obviously do not want my service to be shut off but I fear if I do not pay they will shut it off even though there is a pending court case for this bill. I cannot go 3 months with out hot water but will if it will help my case.
Should I pay it now to avoid having my service disrupted? Should I not pay it and hope the DPU can assist? Or should I let them shut it off in hopes they screw themselves over in the court case?

2023.06.09 17:39 SouthLATiki Grails acquired. A pair of Orchids of Hawaii/Sea and Jungle Pele Hut lamps for my home tiki bar. Found at a Whittier CA antique mall

To the uninitiated, these may just look like a couple of bamboo restaurant hanging lamps. To the tiki community, this is a grail-level, once in a lifetime if you’re lucky type find. Manufactured by a defunct company called Orchids of Hawaii for another long defunct company called the Sea and Jungle Shop in the 60s/70s. To find 2 of these in pristine shape may end up being the biggest score of my extremely extensive thrifting career. Lamps like this sell for $1500-$3000 a piece (and like really sell on EBay for those prices not the ridiculous Chairish & 1stDibs inflated BS prices) I’ve pulled Witco furniture, a Frankl pretzel rattan sectional, 6 ft Papua New Guinea carvings and other incredible scores for our home bar, but nothing stopped me dead in my tracks like these 2 beauties. The 2nd pic is one of them hanging in it’s new home and I’m trying to figure out where to put the other one.

I'm in a bit of a weird situation regarding my education. Currently, I live in Italy but it's only because my dad works in the United States army and was stationed here. I'm just now finishing grade 10 and I'm really not sure what to do. All my classmates are going back to their home state and applying to colleges there, but I don't really have a "home state". I mean my parents own a property in the states which would get me a reduced tuition but they don't want me going that far away as they'll be living in Italy. So, my options are kind of limited because any time I try to look at courses for Radiology Techs (Field im interested in) I barely find courses that are applicable to that in English, and to add on, I'm equally confused with AP's. So far I haven't taken any but I know that all European highschools are an extra year than American Highschools so AP's will help me, but which ones should I take? Does it even matter? I'm basically throwing away my whole sports life because I'm taking 3 AP's next year and I'm not even sure if they're beneficial. I don't want to specifically go to college in Italy, just anywhere in Europe would be good. I'm very stuck as you can see, any, and I mean any help would be more than appreciated. "X2749," Dinyl logged breathlessly as he stumbled through the jungle. "The humans are not as they seem. I repeat, the humans are not as they seem. Our surveillance of their species has been merely skin deep." The offlander leaped through the brush and slid down a muddy incline narrowly avoiding a series of thick tree trunks. The monstrous noises at his back worsened, rising to a fever pitch as the sun set over the planet's horizon.
"Do not attempt to assimilate," he warned as he ran. "They understood I wasn't one of them, maybe even from the beginning. My camouflage has been working at optimal levels. It must be something else– something more primitive and intuitive that courses through them. I deployed the decoys, but they ran right through them– never for but a brief moment have they lost track of me."
He stopped behind a particularly thick tree to catch his breath. They hadn't halted their pursuit, but they had slowed for one reason or another. He looked down at the device on his wrist and noted that many were convening about a 45-second run behind him. Dinyl rested his head against the moist bark of the tree and closed his eyes.
"X2750," he said quietly lifting his wrist. "If anyone can hear this– if a single one of you has your ears on, please for the love of the collective, get me out of here. My ship won't respond to my beacon. My weapons... useless," he breathed. "My gut feeling is that these humans aren't human at all." He steadied himself. "I need to think my way out of this. No ship. Weapons are ineffective. They're faster than me. Somehow, they continue to track me despite the decoys and even invisibility. None of it seems to matter at all."
His eyes wandered skyward. It was dark enough that he could see his home star through the top of the trees. So close and yet so far. He wished more than anything he had never come. It wasn't worth whatever thrill he was seeking.
"X2751," logged Dinyl. "It must be their sense of smell. I cannot think of any other reason. If anyone happens to come across this frequency now or in the future... humans have a sense completely alien to us. As all senses not innate to one's own species, it is difficult to quantify; to define in certain terms. But anything in this universe that is tangible is certain to give off a certain smell. They can follow that smell. It'll lead them in a general direction toward whatever the source is, but they have difficulty pinpointing it. As far we're aware, concepts and philosophies do not give off a smell. But I'm starting to have my doubts about certain emotions... namely fear."
He took several deep breaths in an attempt to quell the terror inside of him. "If I can only conquer my fear. But humans and animals from Earth eat one another. Humans do not eat one another on 99% of occasions. But as I have said, these humans I chose to hunt with... they are different. And I can think of no grizzlier or demeaning fate than to be made their nourishment– to have one's own sacred flesh converted to ape waste. It frightens me to imagine it, so I wish to imagine it no further... however when one's own imagination is as real as the soil under one's feet..."
He trailed off. This wasn't productive. He was only scaring himself further. If fear was indeed a smell humans could follow, they would never lose track of him so long as he imagined their long glistening fangs– their sharpened claws rending his flesh from his bones. On his home planet, brute primal force overcoming science and tactics was a story everyone hated. He wasn't about to let that be the story of his demise. He pushed off of the tree and hurried further into the jungle, pressing the beacon for his ship over and over as he did.

"I don't know, Dinyl, that sounds dangerous. Our ships act funny on Earth sometimes. Not all the time, but enough that I wouldn't go out there. Our people have crashed there before. They don't give the bodies back. Is what you're planning on doing worth it?"

He should have heeded the advice. He knew in his many hearts that it was his own tragic arrogance that led him to this.

"If they get ahold of you, you're dead. They can't be reasoned with. They're still a tier 1 civilization, intergalactic law won't save you. They're basically a protected species. All we can do is ask for you and your ship back, but you know how that goes."

"Dammit all," the alien muttered to himself. He stopped to catch his breath and looked down at the device on his wrist. It seemed he was in the clear– not a single blip on the radar. He could hardly believe his luck. Through his labored breathing, he managed a laugh as he leaned against a tree.
"X2752. I've lost them. Against all odds, I believe I've lost them. Now I've got to put my brain to work. If I can circle back to the lodge, I can fashion an emitter out of their radio tower. It would require minimal modification, and I can probably reach my ship that way. In fact, if my ship is still unreachable then it has been destroyed somehow. In which case, it'll be more work getting back home. But this isn't undoable."
As soon as he finished his log and the words left his screen, the radar returned. A forest of red blips surrounded his position. Dread flooded him. He stared at it for several seconds as though hoping it would go away– that it would display something else. He lifted his eyes from the screen to see hungry glowing eyes in the darkened forest all around him. His shoulders fell. He couldn't fathom how they had surrounded him so quickly and so quietly.
But it didn't matter now.
"X2...753," he spoke in a defeated tone. "Never come to Earth. There is more to humans than we know... Far more."

Element79 Gold’s Battle Mountain Portfolio
The Battle Mountain Portfolio was originally comprised of 15 separate projects totaling over 44,478 acres across 2,203 unpatented claims in five counties: Elko County, Eureka County, Humboldt County, Lander County, and Nye County. Most of the Battle Mountain Portfolio is located within the Battle Mountain Trend, with several projects close to globally reputable gold deposits including Nevada Gold's Cortez Mine.
The Battle Mountain Portfolio is comprised primarily of early-stage projects. While drilling has been completed at some projects, such as Elder Creek (155 holes) and Clover (104 holes), many have only surface sampling and geophysical surveys completed. (CSE:ELEM) (OTC:ELMGF) (FSE: 7YS) ("Element 79 Gold", the "Company") announces that, further to its November 17, 2022 release announcing that the Company had entered into a non-binding letter of intent (the “Valdo LOI”) with Valdo Minerals Ltd. (“Valdo”), the parties have mutually agreed to a 60-day extension to the exclusivity period to enter into a definitive agreement for the sale of three properties from its Battle Mountain Portfolio located in the northeastern Nevada, US.
The other terms of the LOI, as announced by the Company on November 17, 2022, remain unchanged.
Proposed Transaction Highlights

Valdo to acquire 100% interests and obligation in:
- The North Mill Creek Project - comprised of 6 unpatented claims located at the margins of the Goat Window in Lander County, Nevada, an exposure of lower plate rocks beneath the Roberts Mountains Thrust, the preferred carbonate host of Carlin-type gold deposits.
- The Elder Creek Project - comprised of 23 unpatented claims, which cover the historic Elder Creek open-pit mine in Lander County, Nevada, hosted in upper plate rocks where the mine area is believed to represent leakage from the deeper lower plate of the Roberts Mountains Thrust.
- The Elephant Project - comprised of 197 claims located at the foot of the mine dumps at Nevada Gold Mines' Phoenix operation hosting a covered pediment target with various depths of cover based on the displacement of fault blocks.
Valdo to issue 3,750,000 common shares at a deemed price of $0.30 CAD per share representing an aggregate value of CAD 1,125,000.
According to the revised exclusivity period, the transaction is expected to close by July 15, 2023.

Our home network is great. Everything works properly 99% of the time.
We’ve had our baby at home for two weeks and the Nanit disconnects every day. The help tips in the app are…unhelpful.
Is this camera even worth it? I’m confused how this can be such a popular camera when it rarely works.

2023.06.09 17:38 famk2019 I (27m) had an awkward hookup with a girl (28f). Wondering how I could have been handled better.

This girl and I had been on 4 dates and everything was going well. We really enjoyed each others company and she told me she felt happy and relaxed around me, and I felt the same about her.
At the end of our 4th date we start to hookup for the first time (we had only had brief kisses the previous two dates). A few minutes into the kissing she starts to critique my kissing. She does it by asking “do you know how to French kiss?”. Now I’m not saying I’m the world’s best or most experienced kisser but my kissing style hadn’t been an issue with past partners.
I’m of course open to constructive criticism and learning what my partner prefers, but I felt like the way she delivered the line was a bit insensitive and it threw me off my game and I got in my head. I did ask her how she preferred it and she responded a little frustrated and said “I can’t teach you how to do it”. She eventually gave me the advice to “not move your lips and just move your tongue”. I had never really done it that way before but I tried it that way and apparently that wasn’t what she was looking for either. I tried to diffuse the situation by saying we would work on it and figure out what worked for us. She responded saying “no, you’ll work on it”. She tried to say it softly but the comment didn’t make me feel great because I felt like I was genuinely trying to understand how she preferred it and I felt like I just got back a lot of blame and frustration from her when a more gentler approach would have been better.
We eventually decided not to use much tongue when we kissed and she said she enjoyed that better. But later when she was touching me through my underwear I wasn’t getting aroused because I was still rattled by the earlier exchange. I told her that I was still in my head over the kissing critique and we decided to stop. I went home and the next day she texted me saying she felt connected to me emotionally but didn’t think we were compatible physically. She was nice enough in the breakup text but I am still really bothered by her tone and her general attitude during the criticism. I took all the blame for the situation in my response and told her I had some anxieties I was trying to work through.
I didn’t tell her how the delivery of the critique bothered me but I wish I would have so that we could have talked it through. She was always very sweet to me before this so it was very surprising that her tone wasn’t gentler. I know it wasn’t her intent to hurt my feelings but I do wish I had let her know how it made me feel. I initially wanted to ask for a second chance to see if we could establish the physical connection but now I’m wondering if her handling of the situation was a red flag or if I am just being too sensitive.
Was there a better way for her to handle giving me the critique? Was there anything I should have done differently?
It’s been about a month since we last spoke but the interaction still bothers me and is making me feel like I should have stood up for myself and been open about the fact that I was uncomfortable.
