2023.06.11 00:13 kamkom21 High phone battery drain.

Hi, after I bough and paired my Galaxy watch 5 pro to my phone I noticed high battery drain (1-1.5 less od sot). The most energy hungry process is now google services framework. My phone have android 13 (realme gt2 pro). Does anyone had similiar problem and fixed it somehow or IT is normal for wear os watches? I had Galaxy watch 46 mm (1st gen) and that drain wasn't noticable at all.

2023.06.11 00:04 ConversationSenior48 Migrating from iPhone and can’t choose android phone

Hey guys! I have a question about android phones. I have never used one, my first smartphone was blackberry, then I bought iPhone 3GS and then iPhone 6s which I’m using till now, changed two batteries, he is holding like a champ and can’t do me a favor and die already lol, obviously 6s is obsolete at this point.
I don’t have budget to buy flagman for now so I’m choosing between new midrange and used last year phones preferably. AND ITS REALLY HARD LOL,
I watched a ton of YouTube videos and android phones is a mess, no offense. I can’t wrap my head there are so many options.
So to the main point - my priorities are 1) nice screen, bigger than my current 6s 2) good battery life 3) as stable software as possible without glitches and overall fluidity 4) camera. I never play games, only media consuming and travel photos My options in my country are: Used pixel 6 - 325$ Used pixel 7 - 450$ Used s21 plus - 350$ New pixel 6a - 350$ New a54 - 400$ Used s21 ultra - 460$ Used s22
My budget 350-400$, I could probably toss another 50$ if there is really cool phone to buy, but I don’t know if they worth extra 50-100$ and better to settle with cheaper options like pixel 6 or s21 And I don’t want any chinese phones like xiaomi, oppo etc.
Thank you in advance! And sorry for poor wording, English isn’t my native

2023.06.10 23:31 Assinmik Had to pay locksmith to let my girlfriend in and replace lock due to it being broken from no fault of ours- Agency/Landlord won’t pay

Hi all,
I am not savvy with the law and don’t know how to go forward - or if I even need to?
My girlfriend earlier today was locked out the building for 2 hours as her key didn’t work on the lock. We have only been in the tenancy for 1 week and complained the first day via email and phone calls that the lock needs replacing. It took us 15minutes to get in the house first time.
(My key then stopped working on Monday as well)
Finally the lock broke and my girlfriend had to deal with the full force. I am with family around 3/4 hours away from the house. She had little phone battery. No friends in London or family to help.
She called the agency emergency out of hours line to see what she can do. Did everything that the agent told her to do and gave her the number for the locksmith they use.
Locksmith comes eventually and helps her out and in. Locksmith gave us an invoice of £700. She had to pay but before doing so the locksmith spoke to the agent and complained that my girlfriend had to pay as the agent/landlord are responsible and she isn’t culpable. That they must get the landlord to pay and answered all the questions stating it was no fault of ours. A spring in the lock snapped and no chance of opening or using the lock ever.
The agency are now trying to get out of paying the amount and says the landlord will not pay the full amount and do not expect money. Apparently this is because my girlfriend called the emergency help line for the locksmith.
Am I able to get my money back? I searched and this is a landlord fix and we gave them advanced warning too.
England, London.

2023.06.10 23:28 gheedsgreed Upgrade from Pixel 6a?

I'm switching to T-Mobile and thinking about taking advantage of their new line promos to upgrade from my Pixel 6a. I really like the simple Pixel experience, but there's a bigger discount on the Galaxy S23 series.
Here are the options I'm looking at:
Galaxy S23 for $0
Galaxy S23+ for $200
Pixel 7 or 7a for $100
Pixel 7 Pro for $300
Objectively, the S23/S23+ seems like the better option: better specs and bigger discount.
However, I'm not sure I want to switch away from a Pixel. I like the simple UI and nice camera processing. My main phone usage is watching Youtube, reading manga, and taking photos of my 1 yr old. I'm mostly concerned about battery life, software stability, and camera performance. The Pixel 6a is a nice size at 6.1 inches but I'm considering larger sizes for better media consumption, especially reading manga.
Please let me know your thoughts, thanks!

2023.06.10 23:15 Instinctx How is your pixel 4 or 5 holding up over the years?

Reason I ask is because I have had several phones that slowly but surely get very slow over time.
I upgraded from samsung 8 to oneplus 7t in 2019, because the samsung was so slow that everything was stuttering.
But my oneplus 7t suddenly became super slow/stuttery (and poor battery performance) almost over night (with a software update) after Ive had it for 2 years...
I was about to throw away my 7t and buy a pixel, until I discovered custom roms. For 1.5 years now, I have rocked a custom rom and my phone has been super smooth... (Only reason I want to upgrade to pixel7 is to get better cameras).
So I am scared that if I buy a pixel 7 (or 8) now, I have to upgrade it in 2 years because it's getting slow.
TL;DR: So what I am asking, do pixel phones get slow and stuttery over time with use? Is your pixel 4/5 quick and responsive still?

2023.06.10 23:13 GhostRudy was fired last week and picked up my last check. Was charged for made up shit.

I was fired from my job last week, Their reason was they wanted someone with more experience, even tho I mentioned I’m only an apprentice still. I feel like I was holding up my weight for the experience I had, but anyways. it was a service plumbing company in California. Probably worst company I’ve ever worked for. It was small family owned. Boss wife would talk to us like we’re idiots. The day I was fired, they said to return the work shirts in exchange for my last check. I go to pick up my check and I see that they had invoices and receipts in there. I am going to list them down below. -truck repair, they said the truck was broken and had “repairs” done on it. On the invoice of that work. The vehicle wasn’t even the work truck, it was a 2012 Chrysler 300???? So they deducted $200 from me. -Milwaukee m12 batteries, charged me for a 2 pack of batteries, never touched or used their tools. I had my own tools. That was $145 -broken screen on work phone, even tho it was just the screen protector. That was $40 for “repairs” -Then a random repair for something that’s not even listed, that was $44 What would y’all recommend I do, some of my family is saying to take legal action. Any advice I’m only 22 so it’s all new to me 🥲

DIY Print cam tutorial! (In 3 mins)
All you have to do is get an old phone (preferably iPhone 6 or above) and download the Alfred app, it allows instant remote access to your print camera, hook it up to your main phone/iPad and then you are set up. Tutorial, position the phone on a non moving part of the printer (above works fine on large models) then all you need its some tape, tape it an any you are good to print, after that plug it in to the wall and your done! Tips: 1. Put multiple layers of tape over the tape so it dosent fall and ruin the phone, 2.Plug the phone in while printing so it dosent run out 3. Use the ‘low power mode’ and in the app low power consumption mode , this makes the screen black so it dosent take much power. I set mine up above the printer away from heating elements such as the bed, this is extremely important as lithium batteries can be EXTREMELY dangerous if heated. Happy printing!

2023.06.10 22:54 weirderone Who moved the baby?

I am a stay at home mom of a 4 year old son and 5 month old daughter. This was when my daughter was 4 months and I had placed her in her jumper. So for context or if you are unfamiliar, it’s something an infant can be placed in so their feet touch the ground to bounce while still being supported by the seat. This particular one has toys surrounding the seat that can be pretty loud and rattle when the seat moves, as well as music that plays when the baby jumps. The seat itself is made so you can clearly tell which side is the front and which side is the back, and it can be spun around to face which ever toy you want.
So on this day I had place my daughter in the jumper to play. I clearly recall putting her in the proper way, and she was facing a specific toy, a giraffe with plastic gears. She jumped and played while my son and I watched and played with her. I noticed my phone battery was low so I walked to the bedroom to plug it in. This took maybe 15-20 seconds. When I come back out to the living room where my children are, I see my baby is faced the other direction.
Now I have tried justifying this as maybe my son picked her up for whatever reason and placed her back in it facing the opposite direction. But I just can’t accept that as what happened. I’m not saying it isn’t possible, I just find it hard to believe he managed to do so in such a short amount of time with no help and without making a sound. As I said, this jumper is pretty noisy and I would absolutely be able to hear it from where I plugged my phone in. Another thing is, I myself have trouble getting my daughters feet in the holes without assistance so thats also another thing I think my son would have had trouble with. I’m also just not sure why he would choose to remove her and place her back in while I left the room for a few seconds, especially since he knows the seat can be rotated.
So my other possible explanation would be that I just put her in backwards and didn’t realize it. But if thats the case, my son would have had to move her himself and get her facing the exact opposite of the giraffe toy. I’m not sure what happened but I know for sure she was facing directly toward the giraffe, and the seat was in the same position as before I walked away. I’m also positive my daughter is not capable of moving the seat around herself.
So it seems silly, but I’m still highly confused about what happened. I suppose my explanations are the likely possibility, but I genuinely don’t think my son did it. And if he didn’t, and I didn’t, then I’m afraid to know who did.

2023.06.10 22:47 neekogo Replaced the "non-user-replaceable" battery on my Android

My almost 3 yr old Moto One Action battery life was dying a lot quicker in the last few weeks. New phone would be about $200-$300, new battery and risking a dead phone ~$18. Being a geek I figured Id take the risk as I've repaired a few electronics in my time. I made sure everything was backed up before starting and with help from YouTube I can say my phone is back and operational. Maybe in another 2 years or so I'll buy a new phone but for now my phone works for me even if it's only running Android 10.
The US really needs to follow EU's lead on making phones more user repairable. I'd wager most people don't use the full capability of their $1000+ phones

2023.06.10 22:16 Anon_throwawayacc20 Dolphin and Retroarch unloading roms when switching Apps

Hello. I am having a problem both with Retorarch and Dolphin on Android.
Sometimes when I switch Apps, and switch back to my emulator (either Dolphin or Retroarch), the screen shows the App's logo for a second and then it "unloads" my rom. (ruining hours of hard work without savestates)
Sometimes this happens if I leave an app unused too long. However sometimes it also happens randomly when swapping back to it as well. I haven't been able to pinpoint a cause.
After spending countless weeks playing with settings in both emulators, I am positive this may be caused by my phone's settings rather than the emulators themselves. Which is why I am posting here rather than the respective emulator subreddits.
I am using a Google Pixel 6A.
Does anyone have advice which settings I should configure on my phone to fix this roms-unloading issue?
Things I've tried:
Is there another setting I should try?
Thanks!

2023.06.10 22:12 Stoned_Noob Question regarding iPhone 13 battery life and performance.

I have an iPhone 13 256 GB which I got 1 and a half years back. It’s running on the latest iOS 16.5 The battery health unfortunately has dropped to 88% and now I get 8-10 hours of standby and 4-5 hours of screen on time. I also noticed my phone lagging when opening some apps or even the settings. But it’s not often as of now.
Is this normal? Do iPhones degrade so fast? And does their battery back becomes so poor within 1-2 years?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

2023.06.10 22:01 Wooloomooloo2 My Oven Clock Loses Time when on house is on Battery Backup

I recently noticed that my oven clock was losing time each night and had never done so before. I've had the oven over 2 years but this only started after my solar system was completed a few months ago.
I have a 7.2kW Tesla solar installation and a single Powerwall. It's a modest system but since April has supplied about 160% of our needs, as we're a 2 person house and pretty modest with our power usage. At night, the house runs entirely on the Powerwall, which I believe can support a maximum of 5kW sustained draw, or 7Kw peak. Over night, our house rarely pulls more than 1kW, and typically goes between 0.3 and 0.7 all evening.
So I tested the oven clock while on battery backup, syncing it to the stopwatch on my iPhone, and it loses about 0.75 seconds every 5 mins. Bascially by morning, it's almost 2 mins behind where it should be.
I've tested this connected to grid, or even when the panels are active and I cannot measure any time loss at all.
The oven is an LG ThinQ model, and BTW this happens when the oven is not in use, it's not switched on at all.
Anyone have or heard of anything similar to this? I assume this is some very subtle frequency difference, but I am not sure if this is expected behavior or if it indicates some issue with either the battery, wiring the the oven.

10 grams and a Zap: a psilocybin mushroom and THC report.
Before I get into the report, let me tell you a bit about myself.
I am a young man who has been experimenting with psilocybin mushrooms for six months.
I have a high tolerance for mushrooms and THC, usually 8 grams is enough to get me quite high but anything lower than that is very manageable for me.
I start feeling the effects of edible THC at 50 mg.
I have an addictive personality and have a tendency to hyper fixate on things.
Right now I like mushrooms.
But enough about me, let’s get into it.
Preparation:
I got home from work at 3:45 pm on a Thursday, blended 10 grams of blue meanies and put the kettle on to boil.
I put the the mushrooms in a tea strainer, added a healthy shot of lemon juice, added some caffeine free herbal tea, and then took 200 mg of edible THC.
When the hot water was ready I poured into the cup, adding more lemon juice, then I went to take a shower while the mushrooms steeped.
I came back ten minutes later and stirred the tea with a fork for five minutes. Lastly I added some honey.
Trip report:
T+0: I consume the tea of the course of five minutes. When I finish my tea I go up stairs and lay down in my bed.
T+10: the come up starts… Blue meanies kick in faster than cubensis strains and the lemon and hot water broke down the psilocybin so the onset is very fast.
T+30 I am full on TRIPPIN. Distortion waves fill my vision and sparks start to crackle when I look around.
When I close my eyes I can see the visualization of sound waves as if shown on recording equipment.
T+40: I get the bright idea to go make a video in the woods while tripping on mushrooms.
I wanted to make sure my phone was fully charged so I got my battery pack to charge it. The pack was nearly dead so I decided to plug it in to the wall.
The outlet already had a plug in it and must have been faulty, because the second I plugged the cord in..
ZAP!
I hear a click, see a pop of blue sparks. And then got electrocuted. It was a fraction of a second and then it was gone.
I unplugged the batter and sat down on the floor to make sure I was ok.
T+50: I decided I was alright after a few minutes in the floor.
I got up and put the battery pack on the counter and plugged it into a different outlet.
Now here’s where things really start to go sideways.
I got close to the battery and the mushrooms told me to tense my hand.
I tended my hand as hard as I could about 8 inches from the battery.
You can choose to believe me or not but hand to God, I heard a pop and saw a spark spear between my hand and the battery.
The minute after it happened I noticed that I could feel electrical currents moving through my body.
I was able to pull the energy from the battery and into myself.
I sat down on the couch and wrote a poem.
I was rubbing my arm on the couch and suddenly I got electrocuted again.
The static build up shocked me like a jolt from an outlet.
This is when I panicked.
I suddenly realized that everything was electrocuting me. My clothes, wall outlets and batteries.
If I got too close to a power source I’d start to draw in the power.
I called my brother and he came to sit me.
I shook his hand and thanked him for coming and got electrocuted just from touching his hand.
I went into the back yard, got into my swing and covered myself in blankets. I stayed there for a few hours chatting with my family while I calmed down.
It’s now the next day and I can still feel electricity. When I touch my phone with two hands I form a circuit and my back starts to tense up from the electricity.
This is for Paul Stamets and Andrew Huberman. If you are watching this please reach out. I could use some assistance with this new found condition.
