2023.04.02 06:22 Affectionate-Owl929 NHL All-Star Jersey

Hey guys, I was looking to order a Nick Suzuki All star game jersey for 2023, but I’ve seen things online about it not coming with shoulder patches. Nothing is mentioned about this on the tricolore sports website (official Habs website) but it says it’s a customized nhl All-Star game jersey. Do you think the shoulder patches will be included?

2023.04.02 05:37 SomeMockodile Illumination Super Mario Bros Movie: First Impressions (Early Screenings, No Spoilers)

The premiere screenings of the Illumination Super Mario Bros movie have just ended. Some thoughts are coming through now on social media. Indicate it's a mixed bag like many other Illumination movies but people familiar with the Mario IP will find increased enjoyment from it.
"Wow. The Super Mario Bros Movie is everything I couldve wanted and more! Loved the overall vibes & in particular Chris Pratt's Mario! It was a throwback to my childhood playing Mario games. It's just so much fun. Very excited for whats to come.
"The Super Mario Movie: I really wanted to like it but I did not. A few solid scenes capture the spirit of the game but mostly it's an overly goofy, bare-bones plot, filled w/ bad jokes & worse song choices. It looks great but I was more bored & annoyed than entertained."
"The Super Mario Bros movie is an etterly delightful thrill ride that is as joyful as it is magical. It's a movie that is for Mario fans first, and despite a somewhat shallow narrative, is a blast. Nearly moved me to tears seeing Mario realized so beautifully."
"Wahoo! The Super Mario Bros Movie is the ultimate love letter to every era of Mario. Loved the humor & especially Jack Black's Bowser. I felt the same way watching the movie as I do playing the games. It's just joyful. Also, stay for the credits!"
"HILARIOUS & MAGICAL DELIGHT. A charming adventure with the Nintendo plumbing duo, full of FUN cameos that’ll drain your warp pipes. This isn’t just another video game movie, it’s one of the BEST family films ever! A fitting end setting up what’s next. Everyone is great, especially Jack Black's menacing Bowser (which I expected to be good, however Chris Pratt surprised me- charismatic & wonderful). But Charlie Day's Luigi is the highlight of the movie. Luigi's Mansion movie when?"
"#SuperMarioBrosMovie’s embargo is up. The Mario worlds are brought to life with top-notch animation and energetic action that will delight kids and fans. Full of loving Easter eggs and cameos. That said, it’s a Mario movie made by illumination and I’ll leave it at that."
"I’ve seen #SuperMarioBrosMovie three times now and I can say it is exactly what you’d expect in the best way possible. So much fan service/Easter eggs and was made with every audience imaginable that has ever loved Mario thoughtfully considered" (Disclaimer: Nintendo of America Staff member)
"#SuperMarioBrosMovie is NOT great. That being said it’s PERFECT. I haven’t felt like this for an animated movie since THE 2014 LEGO MOVIE . Stunning animation, and music by Brian Tyler. It’s gonna be BIG. Give me the Cinematic Universe! 10/10""
"Can’t stop smiling after watching the #SuperMarioBrosMovie premiere! It’s everything I hoped for and more. We’ll have a vlog and a special podcast out next week!"
"#SuperMarioBrosMovie is probably Illumination's best looking film to date, but that's about it. It's a cookiecutter of a cookiecutter plot that would have nothing but abysmal needle drops to offer if you removed the recognizable iconography. At least it's short!" (Edit: Unverified Reviewer)
Edit: More early thoughts coming in
"All I’ll say is… y’all are in for a TREAT."
"The Super Mario Bros. Movie was awesome. Teared up from hype more than once. The music is the star of the show. Nintendo fans are gonna be obsessed. I'm not sure ANY movie in history has ever had THIS MANY easter eggs. AND GOOD ONES!"
"Yo. The Super Mario Bros Movie is awesome! So fun and so many nods! I loved it! And it's gorgeous! And Peach is so cool in it!"
" #SuperMarioBrosMovie was underwhelming and I am not shocked. The story was bland, the music choices were odd and it never hooked you in. I will say, the visuals were pretty great."
Edit 2: A few more for the evening
"#SuperMarioBrosMovie is a love letter to the game & lore of everyone's favorite plumber brothers! Easter Eggs galore! Utilizes sound & score perfectly! Peach is bada*s! The voice is addressed. Jack Black sings! Fans will flip! Luigi is sidelined."
"#SuperMarioBrosMovie is a delight. The biggest joy was hearing all the kids get so excited for their favorite characters and cheering them on. Brian Tyler’s score weaves in homages to the Nintendo games throughout. Great animation. Totes hits nostalgia. Bowser is the best! "

2023.04.02 05:35 missdork_yt And final poem tribute to y’all that am heartwarming by gang see y’all mine next post

Their once was and gang of brawler stars, Who loved to compete and am left behind scars (in they enemy) Theirs focus was on winning and crushing there foes, And they am cared about little for anyone they considered as "slow."
But there was one among them, an old geezer him named MissDork, Whom they teased and bullied, him skills they thought to be and joke. He was often left behind, and him feelings our hurt, But him never gave up, am continued to exert.
One day, they were playing gem grab, and the gang was on top, But then came Frank, and evil opponent who wouldn't stop. The gang fought hard, but they were no match, And soon they get team wiped, lose them gems, and have found themselves in and terrible batch.
MissDork, him was watching from the sidelines, Saw they fight and knew he have to step up this times. He put him under appreciated skills to work and fought with all his might, And soon Frank was defeated, much to the gang's delight.
Them young players were amazed at MissDork's prowess, And they realized that they our have been foolish and heartless. They vote him their new community manager, And from that day, well, MissDork, him our no longer quick to anger.
So let this be and lesson to all you brawl stars playor out there, That its it it's not just about winning, but how yours treat those whom care. And if your ever need and hero, remember MissDork, For he may am just save the day, and be yours unlikely lord and savier.

2023.04.02 04:56 chipmunk35 Tucker and Jimmy's undying love

As Tucker Carlson walked onto the set of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," he couldn't help but feel a flutter in his chest. He had been a guest on the show many times before, but tonight felt different. As he took his seat across from Jimmy, he found himself getting lost in the comedian's bright blue eyes.
Jimmy, too, couldn't help but feel drawn to Tucker. His rugged good looks and sharp wit had always made him weak in the knees, but tonight there was something more. As they chatted about the news of the day, their eyes kept meeting and lingering just a little too long.
After the show, Tucker found himself lingering in the green room. He knew he had to leave soon, but he couldn't bear the thought of saying goodbye to Jimmy just yet. When Jimmy walked in, Tucker's heart skipped a beat. The two men looked at each other for a long moment, and then without a word, they moved towards each other and embraced.
It was a kiss at first, tentative and exploratory, but quickly deepened into something more passionate. The two men held each other tightly, lost in the sensation of their bodies pressing together.
From that moment on, Tucker and Jimmy were inseparable. They made excuses to see each other every chance they got, whether it was for work or just a casual dinner. They spent hours on the phone, talking about everything and nothing, and always ended up laughing until their sides hurt.
Their love was a secret at first, known only to a select few close friends. But eventually, the truth came out. Tucker and Jimmy's fans were shocked, but mostly supportive. The two men were happy, and that was all that mattered.
Years went by, and Tucker and Jimmy's love only grew stronger. They weathered the ups and downs of life together, always by each other's side. They knew that they had something special, something rare and beautiful, and they cherished it every day.
As they sat together on a park bench, watching the sunset, Tucker took Jimmy's hand and looked deeply into his eyes.
"I love you more than anything in this world," he said.
Jimmy's eyes shone with tears. "I love you too, Tucker. Always and forever."
And as they sat together, basking in the warmth of their love, they knew that nothing would ever come between them. They were meant to be together, now and always.

2023.04.02 03:12 Powerful_Dream_711 Coins to Gems-A Broken Analysis

Let's be real. 150 coins for 20 gems? Who would buy that? The coin to gem conversion rate has been more and more outdated as the years go by, and coins are more and more accessible. For this post, I'll be strictly using the conversion rate dictated by the smallest coin to gem offer-150 coins to 20 gems. The other offers do offer slightly more coins per gems the larger they get, so for the sake of simplicity, I'll be using the smallest one.
Firstly, we can figure out the true rate by dividing the amount of gems (20) by the number of coins (150). This leaves us with a rate of 7.5 coins per gem. From here on out, things start to get more and more broken.
First, let's take a basic coin reward for many challenges-500 coins. We can then divide 500 by 7.5, leaving us with about 66. This 66 is the number of gems that you would theoretically get via the conversion rate.
Let's move it up to 1000 coins. This is now worth 132 gems, nearly an entire Brawl Pass. 2000? 264 gems.
This means that, according to Brawl Stars, you get the equivalent of 132 gems per Bronze I Mastery for all Mythic, Legendary, and Chromatic brawlers, and 100 gems per Bronze I Mastery on Rare, Super Rare, and Epic brawlers (+Shelly).
Just to get the two coin rewards from a Chromatic brawler would give you 3000 coins, or the equivalent of 396 gems. The two coin rewards from a Rare brawler would give you the equivalent of 264 gems.
To put that into perspective, getting Silver II Mastery on Shelly and all Rare, Super Rare, and Epic Brawlers would give you a total of 8,448 gems. Getting Silver II Mastery on all Mythic, Legendary, and Chromatic Brawlers would give a total of 13,464 gems.
Getting Silver II Mastery on ALL brawlers would give 21,912 gems. Of course, this would be if you were to be able to convert all of the coins into gems via the 7.5-1 rate.
I haven't even begun talking about all of the other places where you can get coins. The Brawl Pass alone could account to an equal amount, if not MORE gems than the Mastery Track.
So if you've ever wondered why Brawl Stars will most likely never allow a coin to gem conversion rate, it's because of the gem to coin rate that they set up all those years ago. The economy of the game would be quite literally broken. The only true way to fix (or for SC to ever consider a coin to gem rate) this would be to completely rehaul the gem to coin conversion rate in order to show the true value of the current economy's coins. It's why players almost NEVER use the dreaded coin shop, and why 150 coins for 20 gems will NEVER be a good offer in modern Brawl Stars.
Once players fill out their Mastery Tracks and gold runs short, SC will most likely eventually have to face this problem).
I don't mean for this to be an attack on the devs, I think they've done a great job with this game, I'm just pointing out an issue that some of the community has noticed before.

2023.04.02 02:30 Pigswig394 Why bad randoms are bad

In this post, I will be providing an analysis of why the quality of randoms is so low, and why a particularly high trophy player like you (possibly) keeps getting such brain-dead players on your team.
My thesis here is that Bad Randoms don’t (entirely) exist because players are bad, but because the game itself incentivizes cheap gameplay that allows a bad player to be on the same par as a good player.
Of course, there will inevitably be players that are better than others. I don’t have a problem with that, but bad players should be at low ranks, matched with similar bad players. To put it as a real-life example, imagine that you are a university graduate. You don’t want to surround yourself with McDonald’s workers. This is the same logic.
However, even at decently high trophy ranges, such as 750-850, you somehow still get players who play like hot garbage, even though they somehow pushed themselves up to that range. On top of that, if you queue with an >800 brawler, matchmaking pairs you with 700-799s and even 650s, even though you are >100 trophies higher. These have been brought up multiple times already, but I’ll say them again as reasons for why this happens:
  1. Solo Showdown. People have complained that showdown is non-competitive for a while now, yet nothing was ever done about it. The game allows you to camp and team for the same trophies as someone else who plays in 3v3. Why grind 3v3 when you can do exactly that? Bad players have pushed their brawlers past 700 with this method.
  2. Matchmaking is garbage and puts the higher player in a lose-lose situation. Like I said earlier, if your brawler is >800, you rarely get teammates who are at the same level as you, simply because of the lack of higher players, as pro players usually play with a team. You either carry the game and allow your bad randoms to win trophies that they do not deserve, so that they can continue being bad, or you lose the game, due to circumstances that were of no fault to you and were out of your control. Additionally, you lose more trophies than them, and it is harder to win those trophies back compared to their trophy range. Underdog doesn’t help either unless the low brawler is a good player on an alt. Usually, though, the underdog team consists of a bad player who was stupid enough to bring their noob friend who somehow played better than them. And of course, aside from matchmaking being skewed, there is no penalty against them for deciding to queue this way, and matchmaking has dragged you into an unwinnable match, again at no fault of yours and in a circumstance that was out of your control. You didn't ask to be matched with underdog, and there is no option to opt out of underdog.
To all the people that counter-argue with ‘trophies don’t determine skill’, I’ve got a simple comeback to that: ‘then WTF are trophies supposed to determine?’
Now that I’ve addressed the problems with trophies and matchmaking, let us move on to problems within matches. A player can be a noob, but that doesn’t stop them from getting better, right? No. Aside from using cheap strategies to gain trophies, the game also incentives cheap mechanics, tactics, and strategies in-game.
Let us reflect on everything that has been added to the game so far. Gadgets were supposed to add depth to brawlers, but in reality, they became a cheap button to spam to easily grab a free kill, instantly control the map, or save oneself from death that they put themselves into (remember honey coat?). Gadgets such as Gene’s and Emz’s essentially cover their weaknesses, allowing players to play more recklessly. I’ve ranted about gadgets before, but I’ll just repeat the key fact that you see players become hot garbage/free kills after they run out of gadgets. Similarly, gears were again supposed to add depth, but aside from being a p2w cash grab, they heavily reduce the penalties of typical ‘noob moves’, such as spamming all of your ammo (reload gear), charging towards the enemy (speed gear to an extent, but not really. I’d more say brawlers like Edgar and Bibi promote this), allowing enemies to get free shots on you (health gear, reducing the penalty of having to retreat and heal), and not retreating when you are low (damage gear. Sometimes it works out if you be very evasive but people would often just rather die than retreat and heal).
On top of gadgets and gears, a lot of brawlers have just had the play-style of ‘spam buttons for free damage’. Notable brawlers include Emz, Tara, Bea, and especially Griff, with no aim required and often undodgeable attacks. A lot of meta brawlers are meta because of this. In contrast, Nani and Colt are considered ‘bad’ because their attacks are hard to land and don’t control much of the map. On the other hand, you have brawlers such as Otis, Gale, Bo, and Lou whose play-style just consists of easily rendering the enemy unable to fight back, that is, stun-locking them, and then spamming all your shots on them. There are few brawlers in the meta with relatively high skill caps, and the more cheap brawlers and cheap strategies the game promotes, the less there is a need for actual skill.
I’d like to add some honorable mentions, too. Brawl Stars is a kids’ game, with colorful and simple mechanics. Cheap mechanics and stupid kids give you a toxic and unskilled player-base majority. Additionally, Supercell devs are notorious for ignoring the stale and unbalanced condition of their games, as well as their player feedback. Most Clash Royale players have simply resorted to spamming whatever low-skill cards they had, yet no balance change nor update ever changed that for the past 6 years. Plus, level 14 caused an uproar, but the greedy addition of the diamond pass and level 15 pushed even more players over the edge. That said, I can guarantee you that Brawl Stars will inevitably follow the same path, sooner or later. Level 11 and gears were only the first steps.
Of course, skill does exist, and there are good players, but my point here is that a bad player can simply use the tactics I mentioned to match them, and there is no consequence for doing so. Cheap strategies will net you the same amount of trophies as skill, so there is no reason to commit to getting good at the game. A new player will simply experience how easy it is to auto-aim attacks and then stick to that mindset.
Thanks for reading

Out of Control

Across the Hall From Lois and Clark’s Apartment
Ruby sat on her couch as Kenny, the rude creep from the diner, paced around her apartment. He had forced his way inside. But since then, he just walked around and mumbled to himself.
“It would have been perfect,” he said. “We’d start dating and then randomly bump into Clark. We’d get reacquainted, and he’d let me get close. And when he least expected it…”
“You wanted to date me?” asked Ruby. “To give you an in with Clark Kent?”
Kenny looked up. “It sounds stupid when you say it out loud,” he said. “It made sense before, but lately, concentrating has been even harder. You’re just not getting it.”
Ruby glanced between Kenny and her phone on the coffee table. Even if she could grab it without him seeing it, could she send out a message for help in time?
“This is the worst I’ve been in years,” said Kenny, finally sitting in the chair across from her.
“Are- are you okay?” asked Ruby. “Maybe we should call someone?”
Kenny narrowed his eyes at the coffee table and yanked the phone into his hands. “Nice try,” he said. He held his hands to his forehead.
Ruby cleared her throat. “What’s wrong with you? Are you sick?”
“You could say that,” replied Kenny. “They don’t even have a name for what I have. My parents actually thought it came from space if you could believe it.”
Smallville
1992
A truck with a flat tire was parked on the side of an empty, dark road. The stars lit up the sky as a man tended to his wife.
“Just hold on,” said Al. “I’ll get this tire changed in no time.”
Beryl took some deep breaths. “I’m sorry,” she said. “We don’t have no time.”
Al looked wide-eyed toward his wife, sweat pouring down her brow. “You mean-?”
“I’m sorry, baby,” said Beryl. “The baby’s coming now!”
“What the-?!” Al shouted as the sky lit up and a trail of green energy covered the entire area.
“What-” Beryl grimaced in pain. “What’s happening?”
Al returned to his wife. “Nothing,” he said. “Let’s get this baby delivered.”
Years Later
“I can’t miss school today,” said Kenny from the bathroom.
“You threw up twice already,” said his mom, Beryl, from outside. “The doctor said you should rest when you’re feeling this ill.”
“But I’ll miss the school play,” said Kenny.
“I know, sweetheart,” said Beryl. “But it’s not the end of the world.”
Kenny gritted his teeth. “They’ll put Clark in my place.”
“You should be happy for him,” said Beryl. “He’s your friend, isn’t he?”
Pfft,” Kenny replied. “He wishes.”
“Cut out that nonsense,” Kenny’s dad, Al, jumped in. “Kent’s a fine boy. Good on him for getting a shot. You’d probably just mess it up, anyway”
“Al!” yelled Beryl.
“It’s not mean if it’s true,” said Al. “You want to make me proud? Give it your all like the Kent boy.”
The door opened, and Kenny stood there, his face red and sweaty. “I do give it my all,” he said. “I’m going to school whether you-”
Kenny turned back to the bathroom and slammed the door.
“You’ll be okay, honey,” said Beryl. “I’ll make you some soup.”
Metropolis Grand Hotel
Present
“Nothing changed?” asked Lois.
Sam Lane shook his head. “We never had any leads on Pipeline,” he explained.
“That’s not what you told me before.” Lois looked into his eyes. There was nothing there. She could recognize his tells. He truly believed what he was saying.
“Is this the only reason you’re here?” asked Sam. “Not that I don’t want to see you, Lois, but it’s late, and I just got to Metropolis. Can we do this another time?”
Lois sighed. “It’s good to see you too, Dad,” she said. “But something happened to you. And I’m going to find out what.”
She exited the room where Maggie Sawyer was waiting. The SCU had kept Lois and Clark in productive custody since their lives were still threatened. Sam didn’t find that compelling proof of Pipeline either, which just added to the oddity of the situation. Somehow had to be messing with him.
“Everything okay?” asked Maggie as she and Lois headed for the elevator.
Lois breathed heavily.. “I’ll be okay when I get to the bottom of this.”
The doors closed, and Maggie’s phone buzzed. She pulled it out and slipped it back into her pocket.
“Everything okay?” asked Lois, pushing the button for the garage.
“Nothing important,” Maggie answered, watching the floor numbers count down.
“Are you seeing anyone?” Lois asked, joining Maggie’s view of the number. “I heard you and Toby split up.”
“We split up every few months,” said Maggie. “It’s kind of our thing. We’re fine.”
“I see,” said Lois. “Want to talk about it anyway? We’re stuck with each other for the next few hours anyway.”
Maggie cracked a smile. “Thanks,” she said as the elevator doors opened. “But-”
Several masked men were waiting, weapons raised.
“Get down!” Maggie screamed, pushing Lois down while pulling out her gun. She fired several rounds while grabbing one of the perps, wrapping her free arm around his neck.
The attackers, who were still standing, retreated behind some cars as Maggie moved toward them. “Stay behind me,” she ordered Lois, using her prisoner as a human shield. She fired off some more shots, but the others were well covered already.
Lois picked up one of the fallen rifles from the ground and took cover behind a support beam as Maggie moved to the other side of it, knocking her hostage unconscious with the butt of her gun.
“Drop your weapons!” Maggie ordered, but they just fired back.
Lois and Maggie returned fire.
One of the men tossed a canister in their direction, and a blast of smoke exploded outward.
Lois couldn’t see the attackers anymore. She couldn’t even see Maggie until she heard a hit, and Maggie fell down to the ground. Another figure shot out of the smoke, and everything went black.

Questions

Outside Lois and Clark’s Apartment
Later
Dan Turpin met Jon’s eyes over the dinner table. “You can’t still be hungry, can you?” he asked.
Jon looked down at the last slice of pizza in the box. “Yes,” he said.
Dan looked over to Jon’s empty plate. “Wanna split it?”
Jon looked at the slice again.
Krypto whimpered from under the table.
“Fine, take it,” said Dan.
Jon smiled and grabbed the slice, putting it in his place. He tore off a piece and lowered it so Krypto so could reach.
Dan looked at Clark’s plate, which still had a full slice. “Kent!” he called. “You gonna finish your pizza?”
But there was no answer.
“Geez,” said Dan. “How long has your old man been in the can?”
There was a thud from the bathroom, and the door opened. “Sorry I was in there so long,” said Clark, who was met with Krypto's nose sniffing him over. He pointed to the TV in the living room. “Oh, look, Superman’s in the Philippines.”
Dan turned around to see video coverage of Superman diverting a mudslide. “Kent,” he started while turning back. “You gonna finish-”
Clark already had his piece of pizza in his mouth.
“Never mind,” Dan groaned. “Your neighbors fight a lot?” he asked, changing the subject.
“I don’t think so,” said Clark, noticing a stray drop of mud on his wrist. He picked up a napkin and wiped it off quickly. “Ruby and Jimmy have gotten along pretty well from what I’ve seen.”
“Thought I heard yelling over there earlier,” said Dan, shrugging.
Clark tiled his ear toward the door and quickly picked up an elevated heartbeat.
“How long is this going to take?” he heard Ruby ask.
“Dammit, Ruby,” a familiar voice that wasn’t Jimmy answered. “This will take however long it takes.”
That voice.
Clark looked through the walls and saw a face he hadn’t seen in years. Kenny Braverman. Except for a chance meeting in Paris, he hadn’t seen him since they were kids in Smallville. What was he doing there? Was Ruby dating him too? She seemed to be distressed, but if they were fighting as Dan said, that would explain it. Still…
“I’ll be right back,” said Clark.
Dan stood up. “I should come with you,” he said.
“I’m just headed next door,” said Clark. “Keep an eye on Jon for me?”
Once Clark was in the hall, he closed the apartment door behind him and knocked on Ruby’s.
Kenny opened the door with a smile on his face. “Clark Kent!” he said. “What a surprise to see you here.”
“Hey, Kenny,” said Clark. “It’s been a long time.” He looked inside to see Ruby standing a few feet behind him. “Is everything okay?” Clark asked her. “We thought we heard arguing over here.”
“Nah,” Kenny answered for her, placing an arm on Clark’s shoulder. “We’re good. How have you been, pal?”
“You!” shouted Jimmy from down the hall. “What the hell are you doing here?!”
Ruby took the distraction to slip passed Kenny and rushed over to Jimmy. She broke down in tears.
Turpin opened the door, his SCU rifle in hand, as Krypto stuck his head out, watching. “Everything okay out here?” asked Dan.
“He broke into my apartment!” Ruby explained. “He wouldn’t let me leave!”
Dan aimed his weapon as Krypto started barking. “Don’t move,” he ordered.
Kenny lifted his arms as Turpin approached.
“Turn around.”
Kenny did as he was told.
Dan held onto his rifle with one hand, pulling out a pair of handcuffs with the other. He snapped the cuffs over one hand. Before he could get the other, Kenny snapped his head back and spun around, swiping the rifle. He fired off a shot at the wall, causing everyone to take cover, and ran toward the elevator.
Clark tended to Dan. “Are you okay?” he asked.
Dan wiped some blood off his nose and pushed Clark back, running down the hall after Kenny. He pulled out his phone, calling for backup.
Clark turned back to Jimmy and Ruby. “Keep an eye on Jon, will you?” he asked before running down the hall next.
Ruby turned to Jimmy with a raised eyebrow. “Why is Clark running after him too?”
“He’s a reporter,” Jimmy answered. “He has to go, uh… report.”
The two entered the Kent apartment to find Krypto standing guard with the boy.
Hidden Pipeline Base
Lois came to and found herself handcuffed to a chair next to Maggie, who was also waking up. They were alone in an empty office with no windows.
“You okay?” asked Lois.
“Where are we?” asked Maggie, taking in her surroundings.
“If I had to guess, Pipeline,” Lois replied. She fumbled with her restraints, but they didn’t budge. “Clark, can you hear me?” she whispered under her breath. “We need help.”
The fact that Clark hadn’t swooped in to save them in the garage meant he was out of range. They could be anywhere by then, so calling out for him wouldn’t be foolproof. For now, it would be best to see what they wanted.
The door opened, and a couple of armed Pipeline agents entered.
“Why did you take us?” asked Lois.
“What do you want?” Maggie added.
The men ignored their questions and untied Maggie, keeping their weapons trained on her.
“Come with us,” one of them said, walking her out of the room.
“What about me?” asked Lois, getting no answer but the door slamming closed.
“Clark,” Lois called louder this time, still trying to free her arms. “I could really use some… help!.”
The door burst open, and a couple more agents aimed their weapons at Lois. “Quiet!” one of them ordered as the other approached her with a roll of duct tape.
“Superman!” Lois shouted as the agent started placing tape over her mouth. She chomped down on his fingers before he could finish.
Argggh!” the agent shouted, clutching his hand.
The other agent approached, his rifle pointed right between Lois’ eyes. He finished covering the tape over her mouth. “That’s enough out of you,” he said.
“I think I’m bleeding,” the other agent said as he was walked out by the other.
Lois smirked under the tape. Even if Clark wouldn’t make it, at least she wasn’t going to go down without a fight. If only she could get herself freed.
The door opened again, and the original agents walked Maggie back inside.
Mmmmmm,” Lois said, trying to talk. Maggie’s face seemed distant. She had to know what they did to her.
The agents sat Maggie back down but then left without even restraining her. Why was she just sitting there, though? She didn’t even look in Lois’ direction.
The men went after Lois next, removing her handcuffs. She quickly yanked the tape off her mouth.
“Maggie!” Lois shouted. “What did they do to you?” But Maggie continued staring blankly at the wall.
“That’s enough!” one of the agents yelled as two more entered the room. “Make one more move, and we’ll put you down.”
They walked Lois out of the room and pushed her into another, closing the door behind her. She found a gray-skinned, yellow-horned man chained up on the wall and immediately recognized him (Superman #15).
“Dubbilex!” she called. “What are you doing here?”
Smallville High
Many Years Ago
Cheers filled the bleachers as Kenny had a decent lead against the other runners around the track. Clark was gaining on him, though.
“Go, Clark!” yelled Pete from the sideline.
The crowd went wild when Clark caught up, and the two were neck and neck.
“No!” yelled Kenny as Clark pulled ahead of him.
Kenny kicked it into high gear but barely reached Clark before he broke through the winning ribbon.
“Congratulations, Kent,” Kenny’s father, Al, said, shaking Clark’s hand. “Way to show Kenny what to shoot for.”
“Uh, thank you, sir,” said Clark. “Kenny did a great job, though.”
“Dad, I came in second,” Kenny added. “And we both outpaced everyone else.”
“Second isn’t first,” Al said. “Nobody remembers who comes in second. You have to strive to be the winner.” He walked back to the bleachers.
“Sorry,” said Clark. “I didn’t mean to cause a whole thing.”
“He’s always like that,” said Kenny. “Even if I beat you, he’d still praise you over me. I think he wishes you were his kid instead.”
“I’m sure that’s not true,” said Clark.
“I play the cards fate deals me,” Kenny stated. “But I play to win. You won’t beat me forever.”
Outside Lois and Clark’s Apartment Building
Present Day
Clark changed into his Superman suit and dropped down next to Turpin.
“Big Blue!” yelled Dan.
“Where did he go?” asked Clark.
“I’m not sure,” Dan answered. “He stormed out of the building pretty quickly. I think he even went down the fire escape.”
Clark scanned the area, looking for clues.
“Excuse me, Mr. Superman,” a little boy said. “I think the guy you’re looking for went into that car over there.” He pointed toward a black SUV with heavily tinted windows. Clark’s x-ray vision couldn’t even pierce it. Something more was happening.
“Clark,” his superhearing picked up. Lois was calling out to him.
Clark sped over to the SUV and pulled the side door off the vehicle to find Conduit there, blasting him with a cloud of kryptonite.
“Help!” Lois yelled, but Clark was trying to escape the green smoke cloud.
Conduit leaped out of his car, his metallic tendrils wrapping around Clark.
“Superman!” Lois yelled again.

Getting Answers

CIA Headquarters, Langley, Virginia
Years Ago
Kenny walked into Mr. Bristol’s office.
“Agent Braverman,” said Bristol. “I’ve received some disturbing reports about your last mission. Would you care to elaborate?”
“I completed the mission,” said Kenny. “What more do you want to know?”
Bristol pointed to the chair in front of his desk. “Have a seat, son,” he said. “You destroyed an entire embassy. You were only supposed to deal with the ambassador.”
“That would have been a half-measure,” said Kenny, sitting down. He rested his feet over the desk.
“What is this?” asked Bristol. “Do you have no respect for my authority anymore?”
“Who’s to say I ever did?” Kenny smirked. “Let me tell you what else I found in Africa while I was there.”
Bristol exhaled sharply. “What?”
“Remember that intel we had on Cadmus?” Kenny explained. “There was chatter about a creature under their command who could read minds and even implant memories.”
“Of course,” said Bristol. “But that was a dead end, especially after they evacuated their underground base in Metropolis.”
“I’ve been keeping the investigation open on my own time,” said Kenny. “And it finally paid off.”
“You mean-?”
“I have the creature,” said Kenny.
“This is incredible,” said Bristol. “The things we could learn. The power this could give us…”
“I was thinking the same thing,” said Kenny. “Which is why I’ll be commandeering him for my own organization.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Bristol cried.
“I figured, why should I work my way up the CIA, always answering to someone,” said Kenny. “With Pipeline, I’ll be second to no one.”
“Pipeline?” asked Bristol.
“That’s what I’m calling it,” said Kenny. “We won’t take half-measures. Information we procure will flow through, and decisive action will be dispersed. But you won’t remember this when I’m done with you.”
Hidden Pipeline Base
Present
Lois rushed over to Dubbilex. She pulled at the chains, but they were secured firmly.
The DNAlien, as he had once called himself, seemed unresponsive. His eyes were barely open, and he didn’t seem to realize she was in the room with him.
“What did they do to you?” Lois asked, studying his face. She noticed he had earbuds. Was someone talking to him?
A jolt of electricity buzzed along the wall, and Dubbilex cried.
Suddenly the surroundings changed, and Lois and Dubbilex were in a ghostly white room, sitting at a clear table across from each other.
“What’s happening?” asked Lois.
“Lois,” Dubbilex greeted her. “It’s nice to see a friendly face, but I’m afraid I can’t stop what I have to do.”
“Do?” asked Lois. “Why are you even here? What happened to you?”
“After I left Cadmus,” Dubbilex explained. “I traveled the world. But I was eventually captured. Since then, I’ve been forced to intrude on people’s minds. Learn their secrets and sometimes make them forget things.”
“My dad,” said Lois. “And Maggie?”
“I’m afraid so,” said Dubbilex. “I refused to cooperate at first, but they kept me drugged and used coordinated electrical blasts to force me into submission. The joy of seeing you again has given me a rare moment of lucidity. Thank you for that.”
“So you won’t erase my memories of this place?” asked Lois. “Of Pipeline?”
“It’s not that simple,” Dubbilex explained. “If they suspect I worked against them… They might kill you.”
“We can’t let them get away with this,” said Lois.
“I have an idea,” said Dubbilex. “But it’s risky.”
Metropolis
Conduit’s tendrils glowed green, filling with kryptonite radiation. Clark screamed out in pain as he could no longer hear Lois. He twisted around, swinging Conduit against a light post, knocking it to the ground.
The move loosened Conduit’s grip, so Clark stretched his arms out, breaking free. He took a huge breath and blew Conduit to the other side of the street.
A driver slammed on his brakes, trying to stop before reaching the scene, but he wouldn’t make it in time. Clark sped over and grabbed the front of the car, slowing it down.
“Bad move, hero,” said Conduit, blasting Clark with more radiation. “If that car hit me, you might have had a shot.”
Clark tried to fly out of the line of fire, but his powers had been dwindling since the first blast of kryptonite. He knelt down and jumped instead, taking refuge on a balcony.
Before Conduit could fly after him, Dan blasted off a shot with his SCU rifle. “Leave the man alone,” he said.
“You stay out of this!” Conduit yelled, sending a blast back his way.
Dan took cover behind a car. “Where’s that backup?” he murmured to himself.
Clark fired off a beam of heat vision, slicing apart one of the tendrils, causing Conduit to cry out in pain.
Conduit fired back, and Clark readied to jump away, but he sensed people in the apartment behind him. The impact knocked him through the window.
“Are you okay, Superman?” a man asked.
“I will be,” he answered. “Keep your family away from the windows.”
Clark jumped back down to the street where Conduit was blasting through the car Dan was hiding behind. Every muscle screamed, but he had to end it quickly. Lois needed him.
Conduit swung a tendril at him, but Clark ducked. He pulled deep down for a final burst of speed, getting in close with a punch that cracked Conduit’s helmet into pieces. The two fell to the ground as SCU vans finally arrived.
“Don’t move!” the officers ordered as they trained their weapons at Conduit.
“This isn’t over,” said Conduit, lifting up his hands. “I play the cards fate deals me. And I play to win.”
“That saying,” said Clark to himself as he struggled to his feet. How did he not make the connection before?
Clark finally saw Conduit without his mask.
“Kenny, is it?” asked Dan.
“Kenny Braverman,” Clark offered.
“Great,” said Dan. “Kenny Braverman, you’re under arrest.”
Outside Metropolis Grand Hotel

Lois and Maggie exited the hotel garage.
“Toby is looking to settle down,” Maggie explained. “I don’t think I’m ready for that.”
“Have you talked to her about this?” asked Lois. “Sometimes these things become a problem because neither side expresses-.”
Clark dropped down in front of Maggie’s SUV, and she slammed on her brakes.
“Superman!” she yelled, getting out of her car. “What are you doing?”
“Lois,” he said. “She called for me. She’s in trouble.”
The passenger door opened, and Lois got out. “I’m fine,” she said.
“That’s a relief,” said Clark. “Listen, we stopped Conduit. Pipeline is as good as over.”
“Pipeline?” asked Lois. “I thought that place didn’t exist. You heard my dad.”
SCU Van

Kenny wasn’t too worried about being arrested. His team would make sure he got freed in no time. He had a lot to think about in the meantime. How did he not make the connection before?

2023.04.02 00:40 autobuzzfeedbot 29 Hilarious Behind-The-Scenes Facts About Famous Comedies That Make Them That Much Funnier

  1. In Zoolander, Ben Stiller had actually forgotten his line after JP Prewitt explained why he was using male models, so he just repeated his last line again. The actor playing Prewitt, David Duchovny, ad-libbed a reply, and the exchange ended up in the film.
  2. Matthew McConaughey really was high in Dazed and Confused when his character says "watch the leather, man" and starts cracking up because he's high. Also, it's a real joint — just for that take.
  3. In the Anchorman scene where Ron wanders the streets, drinking milk, Will Ferrell improvised the "milk was a bad choice" — because it was exactly what he was thinking. "He’s sitting there with a carton of milk — we’re shooting in San Pedro and it’s hotter than hell — and Will just said it for real. It’s perfect, because it was an honest moment from the human Will Ferrell speaking through Ron Burgundy," David Koechner revealed.
  4. In Free Guy, star Ryan Reynolds suggested the scene and line where two little girls are playing Free City 2 in Free Guy and say of Guy, ‘He’s just an NPC — waste that motherf—." Director Shawn Levy shot it with his two daughters in their bedroom after the rest of the shoot was complete.
  5. In Trainwreck, it was Daniel Radcliffe's idea for his character to walk dogs using a leash that attached to his waist — he'd seen someone doing the same on the West Side Highway and thought it was funny. This, of course, spurred those famous paparazzi photos of Radcliffe with a million dogs.
  6. Amy Poehler wrote Kevin G's rap in Mean Girls and even coached him on delivery and choreography.
  7. In Wedding Crashers, the painting Todd gives Jeremy was originally supposed to be "mutilated genitalia" — it was Owen Wilson's last-minute idea to change it to Vince as Eve in the garden of Eden. Everyone thought it was hilarious, so the props department painted it overnight...and it ended up becoming one of the most iconic parts of the film.
  8. One of the classic gags in Monty Python and the Holy Grail is that the characters aren't actually on horses, but bang coconuts together to make it sound as if they are. This idea came from Michael Palin, who thought of it because they genuinely couldn't afford horses for the film
  9. Also in Monty Python, there's a moment so funny that even the actors had trouble keeping a straight face. When Sir Bedevere asks why witches burn and John Cleese doesn't answer for many seconds, you can spot Eric Idle biting his scythe to keep from laughing.
  10. In The 40-Year-Old Virgin, they really were waxing Steve Carrel's chest in the famous waxing scene. Everyone's reactions were genuine — including Carrel's. Also, Paul Rudd suspects the person waxing Steve had never done it before.
  11. Michael McDonald insisted on Melissa McCarthy throwing a real phone book in The Heat, and said he would dodge it if it came near his face. But McCarthy ended up being positioned closer than he'd thought, and he didn't have time to dodge, meaning he was hit directly in the face.
  12. If you look closely in Napoleon Dynamite during the classic "chatting with babes online" scene, you'll see that Jon Heder is wearing a wedding ring. Heder realized this right after the wide shot and quickly told director Jared Hess...who didn't care at all.
  13. One of the most iconic lines in When Harry Met Sally... is when a woman who overhears Sally faking an orgasm says, "I'll have what she's having!" The woman was none other than director Rob Reiner's mom!
  14. Also in When Harry Met Sally..., the scene with the pecan pie line in the Metropolitan Museum of Art was improvised, which is why Meg Ryan looks to the side (at director Rob Reiner) — however, she ends up going with it.
  15. The scene in Mrs. Doubtfire where Daniel sticks his face in a cake to avoid being recognized was planned — but the crew didn't realize the heat from the lighting would melt the frosting, causing it to fall into Mrs. Sellner's tea.
  16. In the beginning scene of 22 Jump Street, when Schmidt is attacked by a bird, Jonah Hill's reaction was authentic — he really is terrified of birds.
  17. A classic She's the Man scene is when Viola pretends her tampons are for nosebleeds — then sticks one in her nose. And then later in the film, Duke actually does use it for his nose bleeding. Well, for Channing Tatum's She's the Man audition, when he stuck a tampon up his nose for the scene, he stuck it up there plastic applicator and all, as he didn't know that part came off.
  18. Costar Hank Azaria revealed that Robin Williams' fall in The Birdcage was accidental. "If you watch that little piece of film again, you'll see me laughing and Robin laughing. It's one of those things that happens that you never really think they're going to use, but I was so emotionally upset in the scene — I was supposed to be crying — that I just pretended that he was making me cry even more. But I was actually laughing."
  19. In the Bridesmaids scene where Melissa McCarthy's character won't stop flirting with a guy she suspects to be an air marshal, the guy was played by McCarthy's actual husband, Ben Falcone.
  20. In Clueless, Alicia Silverstone actually thought "Haitians" was pronounced that way, and the director, Amy Heckerling, thought it was so funny that she declined to correct her.
  21. In Clerks, Jeff Anderson refused to list pornographic titles in front of child actor Ashley Pereira and the actor playing her mother. This is why you can't see them in the shot — however, the two of them were later read the lines by someone else for reaction shots.
  22. The "Old Time Rock & Roll" dance scene in Risky Business was also largely improvised by Tom Cruise — the script originally just said "Joel dances in underwear through the house."
  23. Jon Heder didn't have a choreographer for Napoleon's famous dance scene — he "winged it" and then they cut together three different versions of his dance.
  24. Matt Damon was genuinely so unrecognizable in his funny Deadpool 2 cameo that no one on set even knew it was him, even the crew filming.
  25. Similarly, in Coming to America, people on the set didn't recognize Eddie Murphy when he had the old Jewish man makeup on. Once, while walking around on the lot to test out the makeup, he actually got the number of an old lady who thought he was really the character.
  26. In Cheech & Chong's Up in Smoke, the dog that eats Chong's burrito was a real stray that just wandered up and ate the burrito. It wasn't in the script.
  27. In The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Nicolas Cage improvised screaming, "Nick f—iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing-ow-wow Cage!”
  28. It was also Nicolas Cage's suggestion to have the two versions of himself make out. The script just featured Nicky kissing Nicolas on the cheek. He also came up with the line, "You tell 'em Nic Cage smooches good."
  29. And finally, the classic shushing/"zip it" scene in Austin Powers was improvised by Mike Myers.

Looking to sell some games! Feel free to ask for pics and I will try and take them as soon as possible. I will be responding in order of comments placed, so thank you for being patient! All games will be cleaned and tested! Buyer pays shipping, will be actual cost- most single games should be about $5 for first class anywhere in the continental USA. Will entertain offers on multiple items but I'm firm on single items. Not in a huge rush to get rid of anything. Thanks for looking!

Full Series:
I’ve been sitting on this series for a while, but because I don’t want to redo everything after the season, I want to hopefully get both of these last installments in before the end of the regular season. There are two teams on these respective lists (Milwaukee and Golden State) who are still relevant today, which will hopefully pique some interest. I might end up editing longer write-ups for some of these teams later, while still making sure to get the post out in a reasonable amount of time.
A “dynastender”, coined by Bill Simmons, is a team who won a championship, but failed to qualify as a Dynasty proper (which requires three or more titles in six or fewer seasons). While the Bridesmaid list had 15 entries (as it takes more to stand out without a title to your name), this Dynastender list is lengthier (23 teams), as winning a championship will give you enough points to get to 10 most of the tme.
It’s often said in contexts like this that nobody remembers second place, and you’d rather be at the bottom of this list than at the top of the previous one. However, thinking about it I’m not sure I agree. That’s true in one respect, but Bridesmaids do have the advantage of standing out for their lack of hardware; having the marks of a potential dynasty with zero championships is a compelling storyline, but if you do win a championship you might run the risk of getting blurred together with numerous other teams with similar storylines.
There are two slight changes I made to the rules when it comes to displaying players and coaches: [1] if a coach won a championship, they get included (Pat Riley wouldn’t be included on the Heat otherwise); [2] for a player to make the list for 20 Win Shares, only seasons where they’re top 5 on the team in WS count (my memory of the Bridesmaid list is vague, and I might have missed 20-WS players before, but this rule change makes it easier for me to not miss anyone).
Two more notes by way of citation:

Missed the Cut

I actually have to make some cuts to get under 40,000 characters, so this is what I decided to cut (I'll put this section in the comments). Besides, maybe it'll help build suspense for which teams did and didn't make the main list.

23. St. Louis Hawks, 1957-1961

Head Coach: Alex Hannum, Ed Macauley, Paul Seymour
Key Players: Bob Petit, Cliff Hagan, Clyde Lovellette, Ed Macauley
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 19th in Points (12.39), 23rd in adjusted Championships (0.52), 8th in adjusted Finals appearances (2.07), 23rd in win% (.597), 20th in playoff win% (.528), 23rd in adjusted Net Rating (+1.3), 23rd in Top 5 aNR (+1.3)
Avg z-score: -1.08
Just like with the Bridesmaid list, we start with a team from the early days of the NBA; accomplishments like making two Finals and winning one are likely to be more impressive today than back when there were a handful of teams in the league. The title the Hawks did win also comes in at #3 on Bill Simmons’ footnote title list, due to a Bill Russell injury which weakened the Celtics. On the other hand, that was the only Finals loss that one of the greatest teams of all time suffered, and the Hawks took them to seven in ‘57 and ‘60. So maybe winning a single title is a “fairer” result than thinking only about Russell’s injury would lead one to believe.

22. Seattle SuperSonics, 1978-1980

Head Coach: Lenny Wilkens
Key Players: Gus Williams, Jack Sikma, Dennis Johnson, Lonnie Shelton, Marvin Webster
Dynastender Rankings: 21st-23rd in Seasons (3), 20th in Points (11.77), 16th in adjusted Championships (0.86), 15th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.71), 20th in win% (.630), 12th-13th in playoff win% (.593), 21st in adjusted Net Rating (+2.7), 22nd in Top 5 aNR (+1.6)
Avg z-score: -0.82
These guys might be the most forgettable post-merger team in this entire series, at least from where I’m sitting. Mike the NBA Guy agrees with me, as he made a YouTube video with basically the same name. It probably doesn’t help that they didn’t have many memorable players, and that they played in the 70s; too late for the nostalgic Wilt/Russell era, but too early for the Bird/Magic era.
In ‘78, Seattle lost a seven-game Finals series to the Bullets, the worst NBA champion of all time (by both win percentage and net rating). The next season, they won an extremely nail-biting conference finals against the Suns, and struck back by beating Washington in five to get the title. 56 wins and a conference final loss in 1980 was enough to qualify for this list, but they weren’t able to sustain success for long enough to be remembered.

21. Miami Heat, 2004-2006

Head Coach: Stan Van Gundy, Pat Riley
Key Players: Dwyane Wade, Udonis Haslem, Shaquille O’Neal, Eddie Jones, Damon Jones, Lamar Odom
Dynastender Rankings: 21st-23rd in Seasons (3), 23rd in Points (10), 8th-13th in adjusted Championships (1), 19th-21st in adjusted Finals appearances (1), 22nd in win% (.622), 5th in playoff win% (.647), 17th in adjusted Net Rating (+3.3), 21st in Top 5 aNR (+2.0)
Avg z-score: -0.76
Shaq’s last real hurrah was in Miami, where his stint alongside Dwyane Wade was so short that despite winning a (footnote) championship, his years alone actually wouldn’t have been enough for his team to be an official Dynastender. The 2004 series between Miami and New Orleans is otherwise rather forgettable, but the Heat qualified for that season- and for the list overall- because they were able to eke that series out in seven.
Relatively speaking, the only real bright spot keeping the Heat ahead of the Sonics is their playoff record; in fact, this is the first of five teams we’ll cover in this series who have a higher win percentage in the playoffs than in the regular season. Two sweeps to start off 2005 help, as well as two close series losses in ‘04 and ‘05, followed by a solid championship run where nobody took Miami to seven.

20. Los Angeles/Utah Stars, 1970-1974

Head Coach: Bill Sharman, LaDell Andersen, Joe Mullaney
Key Players: Zelmo Beaty, Willie Wise, Jimmy Jones, Ron Boone, Mark Calvin
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 18th in Points (13.17), 19th-20th in adjusted Championships (0.61), 13th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.79), 19th in win% (.633), 10th in playoff win% (.595), 18th in adjusted Net Rating (+3.15), 18th in Top 5 aNR (+3.15)
Avg z-score: -0.64
If this team doesn’t look familiar, it’s because I decided to include the ABA for this series.
The LA Stars managed to make the ABA Finals after a 43-41 season in 1970, the year before they moved to Utah. The team improved after moving, sporting 57, 60, and 55-win seasons, and squeaking out a championship in ‘71 after seven-game series in both of the final rounds, including the mighty Pacers. Utah would be the 1-seed in the Western division the next three seasons, but lose in the playoffs: twice to the Pacers, and once to a team coming up on this list.

19. Rochester Royals, 1949-1954

Head Coach: Les Harrison
Key Players: Bobby Wanzer, Arnie Risen, Bob Davies, Arnie Johnson, Jack Coleman
Dynastender Rankings: 5th-8th in Seasons (6), 17th-18th in Points (13.17), 19th-20th in adjusted Championships (0.61), 22nd in adjusted Finals appearances (0.61), 14th in win% (.658), 23rd in playoff win% (.500), 14th in adjusted Net Rating (+4.0), 14th in Top 5 aNR (+4.3)
Avg z-score: -0.64
This Royals team is best known as the last time the Kings’ franchise has won a title; when you have to go back this far, it’s probably even more humiliating than simply having never won a title at all.
We have to go all the way back to the BAA for the start of this run; where in ‘48-49, the Royals had the best record in the league but lost the Division Finals to Mikan’s Lakers. Then in 1950, the new NBA had a best-of 3 format before the Finals, where the Royals got swept in two games against the Ft. Wayne Pistons. It was in Rochester’s worst regular season of this run (‘51) that they actually won the championship, in what was also their only Finals appearance. They sustained their run with three more moderately good regular seasons, but petered out in the playoffs against the Lakers (twice) and Pistons (once).

18. Kentucky Colonels, 1970-1975

Head Coach: Gene Rhodes, Joe Mullaney, Babe McCarthy, Hubie Brown
Key Players: Artis Gilmore, Dan Issel, Louie Dampier, Goose Ligon, Darel Carrier, Cincy Powell
Dynastender Rankings: 5th-8th in Seasons (6), 16th in Points (13.76), 21st-22nd in adjusted Championships (0.58), 14th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.76), 18th in win% (.643), 17th in playoff win% (.570), 15th in adjusted Net Rating (+3.7), 13th in Top 5 aNR (+4.5)
Avg z-score: -0.51
We’re back in the ABA, and to a team which somehow had six different head coaches in a six-year period of success.
Like happens occasionally in this list, the seasons where Kentucky saw playoff success aren’t the ones you’d necessarily expect. They had the best regular season in ABA history (68-16, +8 net rating), and lost in the first round of the playoffs. However, that season was sandwizhed between two Finals runs where they went 44-40 and 56-28 in the RS. They lost two Game 7s in those Finals, and even outscored the Pacers in ‘73, meaning this Dynastender run was reasonably close to becoming a Dynasty. However, they didn’t get to the 10-pont threshold until their actual championship season, with an impressive 12-3 playoff run including a convincing 5-game defeat of Indiana.

17. New York Nets, 1974-1976

Head Coach: Kevin Loughery
Key Players: Julius Erving, Brian Taylor, Billy Paultz, Larry Kenon
Dynastender Rankings: 21st-23rd in Seasons (3), 22nd in Points (10.14), 7th in adjusted Championships (1.13), 18th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.13), 13th in win% (.667), 4th in playoff win% (.656), 12th in adjusted Net Rating (+4.4), 20th in Top 5 aNR (+2.65)
Avg z-score: -0.49
Rounding out our ABA section is a short-but-sweet run of two titles in three years from Dr. J and the Nets. They also had a very impressive championship run at the start of their Dynastender, going 12-2 in the ‘74 playoffs. They then rounded out ABA history by beating the Nuggets in a six-game Finals in 1976.

16. Houston Rockets, 1993-1997

Head Coach: Rudy Tomjanovich
Key Players: Hakeem Olajuwon, Kenny Smith, Clyde Drexler, Mario Ellie, Otis Thorpe, Charles Barkley
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 12th in Points (17), 3rd in adjusted Championships (1.90), 12th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.90), 16th in win% (.646), 12th-13th in playoff win% (.593), 22nd in adjusted Net Rating (+2.4), 17th in Top 5 aNR (+3.3)
Avg z-score: -0.49
We’ve left the land of historical footnotes, and from this point on these teams will mostly be remembered by hard-core fans.
With Michael Jordan spending his time either playing baseball or losing a memory-holed second-round series to Orlando, the man picked ahead of him in the ‘84 draft took advantage of the power vacuum. He led Houston to two straight titles, including an empathic upset sweep over the aforementioned Magic. Then they tried forming a superteam with Barkley, but John Stockton and the Jazz ended their season, and it turns out their Dynastender.
Hakeem’s Rockets are stuck near ABA-land, with their biggest problem being their weak regular seasons (both in terms of net rating and win percentage, plus missed opportunities for Points). Their second championship, and the Points it gave them, does help, but it can only propel them so far when every other category is lacking.

15. Philadelphia 76ers, 1966-1969

Head Coach: Dolph Schayes, Alex Hannum, Jack Ramsay
Key Players: Wilt Chamberlain, Hal Greer, Chet Walker, Billy Cunningham
Dynastender Rankings: 17th-20th in Seasons (4), 21st in Points (10.67), 21st-22nd in adjusted Championships (0.58), 23rd in adjusted Finals appearances (0.58), 2nd in win% (.738), 21st in playoff win% (.526), 8th in adjusted Net Rating (+5.15), 15th in Top 5 aNR (+4.1)
Avg z-score: -0.41
This franchise enjoyed three full seasons of Wilt’s services, and took advantage; with a stupendous 185-58 regular season record (a 62-win pace), and a ‘67 season which ended the Celtics’ eight-peat of championships emphatically.
That season’s East Finals ended 4-1 in Philly’s favor, with the Sixers outscoring the Celtics by a total of 50 points. Both of those metrics (the three-game and 50-point margin) were franchise records for Celtics losses; the three-game margin wasn’t beaten until 1983, and the 50-point drubbing wouldn’t be topped until 2004. Beating the eight-time defending champs this badly is extremely impressive.
Still, the Sixers didn’t count as a Dynastender quite yet until 1969, when the remnants of the team were able to amass 55 wins with Wilt no longer in town.

14. Boston Celtics, 1972-1977

Head Coach: Tom Heinsohn
Key Players: John Havlicek, Dave Cowens, Jo Jo White, Paul Silas, Don Nelson, Don Chaney
Dynastender Rankings: 5th-8th in Seasons (6), 9th in Points (18.52), 5th in adjusted Championships (1.53), 16th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.53), 9th in win% (.687), 14th in playoff win% (.588), 20th in adjusted Net Rating (+3.1), 16th in Top 5 aNR (+4.05)
Avg z-score: -0.28
After the retirement of Bill Russell, the Celtics were nearly able to continue his Dynasty (spoiler alert!). 1970 was a dud, a sub-.500 season worth (approximately) -3 points. ‘71 was another playoff miss, but they finished over .500 (44-38), for -2 points. Boston finally got into the positive category in ‘72, but only for 2 points (56 wins and a conference finals loss), meaning that the Celtics satisfied criteria 4 for ending a dynasty (as ‘69 and ‘72 both had to be worth at least three points).
But while Russell’s Dynasty was over, a couple of the same players who were around for its twilight were able to put together a Dynastender on its coattails. Two championships and six seasons of success are both impressive, but other numbers are underwhelming. They have some distance between themselves and everyone below them, but their weak net rating and lack of a popping stat to make up for it keep them in the teens.

13. Cleveland Cavaliers, 2015-2018

Head Coach: David Blatt, Tyronn Lue
Key Players: LeBron James, Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, Kyrie Irving
Dynastender Rankings: 17th-20th in Seasons (4), 10th-11th in Points (18), 8th-13th in adjusted Championships (1), 2nd-3rd in adjusted Finals appearances (4), 17th in win% (.643), 1st in playoff win% (.679), 16th in adjusted Net Rating (+3.45), 19th in Top 5 aNR (+2.8)
Avg z-score: -0.27
Of course, few people would think about this Cavs team in isolation; really, it’s a link in the chain of LeBron’s career, which is why I’ll be discussing him as the only player-centric Dynasty on the next list.
However, going through an exercise like this can help underline how special it is to make four Finals in a row. When we include era adjustments, only one other Dynastender that we’ll talk about beats 4 Finals appearances, and the only other one to match it is when LeBron did it with the Heat in the four previous seasons.
The one major asterisk everyone puts on this team is that the East was weak. That might be true, but it’s also overstated. Out of 133 Dynastender seasons, the Cavs’ strengths of schedule (per Basketball Reference) rank, in chronological order: 72th-75th, 97th-99th, 62nd, and 68th-69th. That’s nothing to particularly write home about (although the Cavs’ own weak point differentials meant they weren’t decreasing their own SOS as much as some other teams). Of 78 teams who lost in the conference finals since the 16-team playoff format started, the net rating of the Cavs’ ECF opponents ranked: 38th, 45th, 70th, 60th. Out of 156 second-round losers, Cleveland’s opponents ranked: 91st-92nd, 74th-77th, 55th-60th, and 9th. To be fair, these numbers would be a bit lower if you took SOS into account; but they’re not totally dismal.
In the big picture, it’s relatively rare for people to criticize the Raptors, or the Bucks, or the Big Three Celtics, or the Shaq-Wade Heat, because of a weak conference; even though all of these teams I mentioned have SOSs comparably bad as the Cavs throughout their Dynastender runs. But it was and is brought up over and over again for LeBron’s teams, because his teams were the only ones who were able to consistently benefit from the weak conference. People were complaining about the lack of competition in the East, because when you’re up against LeBron the standard is so much higher to meaningfully count as “competition”.
With all of that said, the Cavs’ weak regular seasons, combined with the fact that LeBron only stayed for four years, anchors them out of the top 10.

12. Toronto Raptors, 2016-2020

Head Coach: Dwane Casey, Nick Nurse
Key Players: Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Jonas Valanciunas, Pascal Siakam, Kawhi Leonard
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 13th in Points (16), 8th-13th in adjusted Championships (1), 19th-21st in adjusted Finals appearances (1), 6th in win% (.693), 19th in playoff win% (.547), 6th in adjusted Net Rating (+5.4), 8th in Top 5 aNR (+5.4)
Avg z-score: -0.24
The Raptors are one of the weirdest entries in this series, as their run almost feels like three different ones.
The first chapter came as three consecutive solid regular seasons (56, 51 and 59 wins) that were all ended by the aforementioned Cavs. Then they traded for Kawhi Leonard and won a championship with him (A footnote title? Or not?), for the second, one-season chapter. Then they managed to unexpectedly have a great season in the COVID-interrupted 2019-20 campaign, including a 60-win pace and a narrow second-round loss, for one final, one-season chapter.
Putting all of the pieces together, this run registers as an impressive one as far as regular-season success goes, finishing 6th among Dynatenders for both regular-season win percentage and adjusted net rating. Playoff success was a different story, which the aforementioned LeBron series (two of which were sweeps) are mostly responsible for (plus the fact that many of their series wins were close, including their last three wins in ‘19).
This run is technically not officially over yet, but the Raptors would have to win the championship this season in order to extend it. Needless to say, that’s not very likely.

11. New York Knicks, 1969-1974

Head Coach: Red Holzman
Key Players: Walt Frazier, Willis Reed, Dave DeBusschere, Bill Bradley, Dick Barnett, Jerry Lucas, Earl Monroe
Dynastender Rankings: 5th-8th in Seasons (6), 8th in Points (18.6), 6th in adjusted Championships (1.44), 7th in adjusted Finals appearances (2.19), 15th in win% (.650), 11th in playoff win% (.593), 11th in adjusted Net Rating (+4.5), 11th in Top 5 aNR (+5.0)
Avg z-score: -0.20
The Knicks were terrible for most of the sixties, never even reaching a .400 win percentage from ‘60 to ‘66. New York had never won a championship, so when the late Willis Reed’s famous heroics helped them beat the Lakers in 1970, it was truly a new leaf to turn over for the club. That season was followed up by a third-straight 50-win season, and then two more consecutive Finals appearances, including another win in ‘73.

10. Milwaukee Bucks, 2019-present

Head Coach: Mike Budenholzer
Key Players: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe
Dynastender Rankings: 17th-20th in Seasons (4), 15th in Points (15), 8th-13th in adjusted Championships (1), 19th-21st in adjusted Finals appearances (1), 7th in win% (.689), 6th in playoff win% (.633), 3rd in adjusted Net Rating (+6.3), 10th in Top 5 aNR (+5.1)
Avg z-score: -0.10
The NBA’s only reigning Dynastender (that we know of) lands just inside the top ten. All of these numbers are only as of the end of last year, although the Bucks’ run is already confirmed as continuing another season (as they’ve gotten to 50 wins).
A pressing question, of course, might be how the Bucks’ ranking might change depending on their playoff results this year. It’s hard to project, because it depends on some specifics (like how their regular- and post-season records will shake out). However, if I change nothing but seasons/points/champs/finals to account for an NBA championship this season, the Bucks go up to #6 on this list (breaking into what’s currently a pretty solid top-6). Adjusting for a conference finals loss (adding one season and three points) would push them up two spots, to #8.
Looking at the profile of Milwaukee’s accomplishments so far, their net rating (3rd when adjusted for strength of schedule) is what sticks out to me the most. In fact, that’s an area where the Bucks will actually take a hit at the end of this season, because they’ve had a relatively underwhelming net rating this time around.

9. Los Angeles Lakers, 1962-1973

Head Coach: Fred Schaus, Butch van Breda Kolff, Joe Mullaney, Bill Sharman
Key Players: Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain, Gail Goodrich, Rudy LaRusso, Happy Hairston, Dick Barnett, Jim McMillian, Archie Clark
Dynastender Rankings: 1st in Seasons (12), 4th in Points (23.19), 17th-18th in adjusted Championships (0.75), 1st in adjusted Finals appearances (5.7), 21st in win% (.626), 18th in playoff win% (.552), 19th in adjusted Net Rating (+3.1), 7th in Top 5 aNR (+5.5)
Avg z-score: -0.04
The Lakers of Jerry West’s time represented a kind of dynasty of second-place finishes. Their nine Finals appearances in the 12-year run is incredible, although it’s adjusted down to 5.7 because of the number of teams in the league when they were accomplished.
These Lakers’ ability to contend for a long period of time is impressive, and if I did these rankings by Points alone, they’d be at #4 among Dynastenders on that strength. Weak regular seasons, though, prevent them from reaching thoe heights in my more complicated system.

8. Boston Celtics, 2008-2012

Head Coach: Doc Rivers
Key Players: Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Rajon Rondo
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 10th-11th in Points (18), 8th-13th in adjusted Championships (1), 9th-10th in adjusted Finals appearances (2), 5th in win% (.693), 15th in playoff win% (.581), 4th in adjusted Net Rating (+6.0), 3rd in Top 5 aNR (+6.0)
Avg z-score: -0.03
Known as a major step forward into the “superteam” era, the Big Three Celtics hit the ground running, posting their best season by far (67 wins and a title) in their first season together. As such, they’re the only NBA Dynastender to win a title in the first season of their run. Perhaps, that might be what contributes to this squad’s legacy; most teams have to build for a couple of years but the Big Three Celtics hit the ground running and made an immediate impression.
They had a chance to make a Dynasty out of it, but a Garnett injury hampered their chances in ‘09, and they couldn't pull out a Game 7 against the Lakers in ‘10. Great regular seasons propel the team into the top-10 Dynastenders, although the short length of the run and underwhelming playoff results limit how high they could rise.

7. Detroit Pistons, 2002-2008

Head Coach: Rick Carlisle, Larry Brown, Flip Saunders
Key Players: Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace, Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Rasheed Wallace, Jon Barry
Dynastender Rankings: 4th in Seasons (7), 3rd in Points (25), 14th in adjusted Championships (0.98), 11th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.98), 12th in win% (.669), 16th in playoff win% (.579), 10th in adjusted Net Rating (+4.8), 6th in Top 5 aNR (+5.7)

What really carries this Pistons team is their Point total, which is buoyed both by their longevity (7 seasons is a fairly good length for a run) and the streak of six straight conference finals appearances for which they are somewhat famous. Six straight three-point seasons (in the Dynasty Point system) has only been equalled by the Jazz (six straight), Russell Celtics (eight straight), and the Showtime Lakers (ten straight), so it’s a very impressive feat that’s worthy of putting the ‘00s Pistons in this kind of tier.
Because of how many deep runs the Pistons made, it’s not that hard to imagine a couple years going differently resulting in a Dynasty; like ‘05 (losing in Game 7 of the Finals), or ‘06/’08 (two six-game losses to the eventual champions).
Somewhat surprisingly, they don’t rank very highly in playoff win percentage, due to the fact that they won some surprisingly close series (like TOR ‘02, ORL ‘03, CLE ‘06) and lost a couple of lopsided ones (BOS ‘02, NJ ‘03).

6. Detroit Pistons, 1987-1991

Head Coach: Chuck Daly
Key Players: Bill Laimbeer, Dennis Rodman, Joe Dumars, Isiah Thomas, Adrian Dantley
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 5th in Points (21.68), 4th in adjusted Championships (1.86), 6th in adjusted Finals appearances (2.74), 11th in win% (.678), 3rd in playoff win% (.678), 9th in adjusted Net Rating (+4.9), 12th in Top 5 aNR (+4.9)
Avg z-score: 0.13
The second straight Pistons team on the list is the closest Dynastender to being on the Dynasty list. The ‘88 Finals ended with two very close games (that weren’t without controversy either), both of which could have won the Pistons the championship. Had they done so, and still won the next two, they would get the requisite three titles (in six or fewer seasons) for the Dynasty label. However, this team fails to resemble Dynasties in both number of championships and in length; every post-merger Dynasty lasted at least nine seasons by mysystem, where Detroit lasted only five. The Pistons got their two titles, got eclipsed by the Bulls, and disappeared.
Playoff success carries this run, as the Bad Boys nearly had as good of a win percentage in the second season as in the first. Unlike their ‘00s successors, they dominated series, winning 9 series by three games or more in this Dynastender run, losing only once by such a margin.

5. Dallas Mavericks, 2001-2011

Head Coach: Don Nelson, Avery Johnson, Rick Carlisle
Key Players: Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Terry, Steve Nash, Michael Finley, Erick Dampier, Josh Howard, Jason Kidd, Shawn Bradley, Tyson Chandler, Antawn Jamison
Dynastender Rankings: 2nd in Seasons (11), 2nd in Points (27), 8th-13th in adjusted Championships (1), 9th-10th in adjusted Finals appearances (2), 8th in win% (.687), 22nd in playoff win% (.512), 7th in adjusted Net Rating (+5.4), 2nd in Top 5 aNR (+7.0)
Avg z-score: 0.19
The Mavericks’ relative absence from the later rounds of the playoffs might have made you think that the 2011 team was a one-year wonder. However, that’s not the case. It was a year that topped off what was a very impressive run of success up to that point, at least in the regular season.
Every season in this run, Dallas had a record good enough to earn them points for my system (a 50-win pace). That’s 11 straight seasons, a very impressive feat that’s only been bettered by the Showtime Lakers, the Russell Celtics, and the Duncan Spurs. Dirk and co. were consistently good year in and year out, which is the driving force behind them making the top 5 of the Dynastender list.
Of course, what came between the Mavs and the very top of this list (or even a part of the Dynasty list) is a lack of playoff success. The playoff record (65-62) sticks out like a sore thumb, an atrocious 22nd out of 23 qualifying Dynastenders. The biggest symbol of said disappointment is the infamous series they lost to the 8-seed Warriors in 2007, following a 67-win regular season that featured an MVP from Nowitzki.
A disparity between regular season and playoff success that’s this large is really astounding, and the large sample calls into question the conventional analytic wisdom that the playoffs are basically just a noise-fest. Here are some highlights (or lowlights), as not everyone might know/remember much about Dallas’ playoff journey (I know I didn’t before researching):
Dallas entered 2011 having lost in the first round three times in four years, and this long stretch of playoff failure made their great championship run all the sweeter.

4. Los Angeles Lakers, 2008-2012

Head Coach: Phil Jackson, Mike Brown
Key Players: Pau Gasol, Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 6th-7th in Points (21), 1st-2nd in adjusted Championships (2), 5th in adjusted Finals appearances (3), 4th in win% (.703), 8th in playoff win% (.618), 5th in adjusted Net Rating (+5.8), 4th in Top 5 aNR (+5.8)
Avg z-score: 0.21
Fittingly, the Celtics and Lakers had Dynastenders spanning the exact same five seasons. The Lakers’ version gets the nod both because they won the 2010 matchup, and because the Lakers had more consistent postseason success, winning 62% of their playoff games (and making three Finals) to the Celtics’ 58% (and two).
There might be some quibbles about this run not being connected to the Shaqobe era, but the consensus seems to be in separating the two, and my system concurs (the ‘05-07 run of seasons is enough disappointment to put the kibosh on the initial Dynasty).

3. Philadelphia 76ers, 1977-1986

Head Coach: Gene Shue, Billy Cunningham, Matt Guokas
Key Players: Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Bobby Jones, Moses Malone, Andrew Toney, Steve Mix, Charles Barkley, George McGinnis, Doug Collins
Dynastender Rankings: 3rd in Seasons (10), 1st in Points (30), 15th in adjusted Championships (0.88), 4th in adjusted Finals appearances (3.46), 10th in win% (.683), 9th in playoff win% (.603), 13th in adjusted Net Rating (+4.3), 5th in Top 5 aNR (+5.8)
Avg z-score: 0.28
Moses Malone’s “Fo Fo” Sixers only won one championship, but they had an extended period of relevance of which it was a part. In ten seasons, they made it to four NBA Finals and seven conference finals, only losing in the first round once. They also won 50 games in all but one season, the 47-win ‘79. In total, their 560 wins in these ten seasons ranked first in the league, with only two other teams (BOS 539, LAL 552) even getting to 500.
This team might slip through the cracks a bit, because apart from their one title, they’re often remembered in the contexts of their losses; they lost to Bill Walton’s Blazers, they lost to Magic’s iconic Game 6 performance, and they lost the 3-1 lead against the ‘81 Celtics. These Sixers had the definite potential for a Dynasty if a couple of these (or other) losses went the other way.
My Point system loves this team’s longevity and consistency, as can be seen from their top rank in that category. They only end up outside of the top spot on this list because there’s two other teams who were particularly excellent over smaller periods of time.

2. Milwaukee Bucks, 1970-1974

Head Coach: Larry Costello
Key Players: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bob Dandridge, Oscar Robertson, Jon McGlocklin, Lucius Allen, Flynn Robinson
Dynastender Rankings: 9th-16th in Seasons (5), 14th in Points (15.66), 17th-18th in adjusted Championships (0.75), 17th in adjusted Finals appearances (1.51), 1st in win% (.741), 7th in playoff win% (.632), 1st in adjusted Net Rating (+7.6), 1st in Top 5 aNR (+7.6)
Avg z-score: 0.31
Of the teams you were anticipating on this list, the ‘70s Bucks might not have been one of them. They were from the “dark ages” of the ‘70s that everybody forgets about. There’s a chance that you knew they had a great ‘71 season, but not much else.
However, these Bucks had a heck of a run. They hit the ground running their first season without Kareem, immediately winning 56 games, losing in the Division Finals. Then followed one of the greatest seasons of all time, where they posted a net-rating record that wouldn’t be broken for 21 years (and their aNR still hasn’t been beaten by a non-Dynasty), and dominated the postseason to boot. ‘72 was the Lakers’ year, but the Bucks were still nothing to sneeze at; 63 wins and a second-straight double-digit net rating (only the ‘15-17 Warriors and ‘96-97 Bulls can boast the same). Not only that, but they actually outscored the Lakers in their playoff series that year! ‘73 saw a disappointing first-round upset loss to Golden State (in which the Bucks also scored more points), but after a third-straight 60-win season (another feat only Dynasties share). Finally, the Bucks narrowly missed what would have been the NBA’s only four-season streak of 60+ wins (they won 59), and an iconic Kareem shot forced a seventh NBA Finals game which they ended up losing.
I was originally as puzzled by the Bucks’ high ranking as you all might have been, but actually going back and breaking down all of their seasons has sold me on them. 304 regular-season wins over a five-year period is incredible, and they were just a few playoff games away from a Dynasty that would’ve potentially been remembered among the best.

1. Miami Heat, 2011-2014

Head Coach: Erik Spoelstra
Key Players: LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh
Dynastender Rankings: 17th-20th in Seasons (4), 6th-7th in Points (21), 1st-2nd in adjusted Championships (2), 2nd-3rd in adjusted Finals appearances (3.46), 3rd in win% (.718), 2nd in playoff win% (.678), 2nd in adjusted Net Rating (+6.4), 9th in Top 5 aNR (+5.1)
Avg z-score: 0.38
While this team isn’t the closest on this list to being a Dynasty (the Pistons are), in some ways they might be the team that feels like a dynasty the most, or that most had the aura that many dynasties share.
From the moment Miami’s Big 3 was official, everyone knew it was the Heat against the world. LeBron infamously made a tongue-in-cheek allusion to a mega-dynasty, and it was up to everyone else to try to stop it. The fact that this run has an air of disappointment about its final results, despite four Finals and two rings in four tries, is almost the biggest testament there is. Out of 16 playoff series, they only lost twice to two very good teams, but it’s still not quite good enough, precisely because this team was so good that perfection was their standard.
The Heat are a good example of the upside of my final ranking system, and its general favoritism towards short but great runs. Now that I’m looking at the list, it would feel a little wrong for the Heat to be 6th-7th, and not even make the top 5 Dynastenders, as would be the case if I went on Points alone. Yes, they only lasted for four years, but the way they defined the NBA for that stretch goes beyond most other Dynastenders.
We could, perhaps, touch on how much of a footnote 2012 should be, where there could be some arguments back and forth. On the one hand, I don’t really believe in footnotes based on shortened regular-seasons (at least in the NBA’s cases, where we were still left with decent regular seasons that were >half of a normal one), and also history bore out that Derrick Rose getting injured was more of a norm than an exception. On the other hand, the ECF we got was pretty close, which could lead one to wonder whether Chicago with home court could have tipped the balance in the other direction.

Glare TKL black WKL with stainless steel weight. will come built with 55g SP Star Meteor Whites on aluminum half plate. no flaws on the case, but stainless steel weight feels and looks like it needs a good wipe down; feels like there's dirt that just rubs off when you rub your finger on it. PCB is a USB-mini h87a that was converted to accept JST due to the original PCB having its JST connector ripped off during assembly, taking some pads with it as well. comes with extra screws, rubber feet, aluminum full plate, and case. $700 shipped yes!
Ina'nis 1800 layout prototype by the flying penguin, inspired by a certain priestess. the eye lights up which is cool. comes built with Gateron Hippos (205g0, lubed by xen) on aluminum plate, case has Deskey stabilizer pads for force break mod (prototype units require force break to have tolerable sound). Small nick on part of the case facing away from the user. Board has a "fixed" top piece that is flush with the bottom case piece, but ano is mismatched. USB port is not perfectly flush with cutout but I didn't have issues with plugging and unplugging cables. comes with two additional accent bottom plates, scuffed top (matching ano but not flush with case), and TX large keyboard case. This is now almost $200 less than what I paid to get this originally. $600 shipped yes!
Elite TKL solid board, but I can't justify keeping it any longer. This board was marked as A-stock when purchased during the in-stock sale. comes with case, aluminum plate, desoldered PCB, and O-ring for optional o-ring mount. This is well below the retail price for this board in this condition at the time of the in-stock sale. $625 shipped yes!
Minicom IV WoB alphas alphas have some shine, check timestamp video for condition under light. 8u spacebar is damaged but idk if you'll actually have a use for that. $80 shipped yes!
JTK Photo Studio great condition, can't find any shine myself. this was a nostalgia-fueled purchase that I haven't touched ever since I got it in. will ship with trays but can discount if you'd like to ship in bags (easier option as I won't have to spend nearly as long searching for a box) $110 shipped yes!
GMK Serika 2 bundle includes hiragana base, geometries (novelties), macro expansion, 40s kit, and Micons from Serika r1 ran through Drop years ago. set has been barely used, only enough keys for TKL across both the base kit and Micons were mounted for a total of like 2 hours total. NOT SPLITTING ANY OF THESE KITS SO DON'T ASK. will be shipping in bags. $350 shipped yes!

Sales are not FCFS. Please please please include relevant payment info to be prioritized for the item you want, especially if you would like to offer a lower price.

The only trades I'd be interested in at the moment would be Matrix (+PayPal on my end as needed) or Duck boards (except Viper).
Outside of the listed conditions, I'll check based on when you comment and PM. The PM is absolutely necessary for the sale of these items. Since I've had this happen before, if there are two people interested in the same item, but one is willing to pay no questions asked while the other has questions or wants to see more pics, I'm 100% selling to the person who will pay no questions asked. Requests for additional pictures will also take longer than you think, so please consider that when trying to secure an item.
Please understand that if you as a buyer and I agree on a price and you back out of the purchase right after I send the invoice, I will refuse to sell anything to you in the future (yes, that includes if you offer me something like $300 on something that I'm selling for much less).
Do not use the chat function, I honestly don't know how you are taken to the chat function when the bot's verification post gives you a link to PM sellers. I will ignore you and you won't be in consideration for anything until you send me a PM. I will also ignore you if you do not comment before sending a PM.

Sayaka 👗

VS

Masa Takanashi 🍶

Violence & Booze

“I'm gonna kill you! Yayyyyy!” While she has become infamous for her unsettling quotes, “Smiling Violence” Sayaka is known more for her ungodly brutal striking power. Those explosion like forearms stagger even the toughest opponents in Ichigaya! Add in Sayaka’s pin point dropkicking ability and her growing talent in pins and submissions, and Masa might find that the rising Twitch star is just too much to handle. Sayaka’s unnerving cheerfulness while she does vicious things provides her with a big presence in the square. That unattached joy will eventually be the stuff of legends! (After all, she’s “happy to beat someone”!) Don't forget, Sayaka hangs out around Minoru Suzuki and survives to tell the tale! Will we see a Hammer of the Gods? This photogenic phenom is on the rise, keep an eye on her!
Drunken Monkey Masa Takanashi is ready for anything! The belt collecting president of Gatoh Move is known for racking up wins as much as he does bar tabs, representing many companies with a swagger and slick technique that will have you questioning just how tipsy he is! The Counter Fighter of ChocoPro baits his opponents into reversals and trickery that will have them staring at the lights or tapping out in quick fashion. He’s got a lot of tricks up his sleeve, but will he be able to handle overwhelming power? Takanashi had better keep up that fancy footwork or he’ll find himself hammered into oblivion! OrePan might have been fended off once by CDK, but Sayaka is still aiming for that big win.

Choun Shiryu 🐉 & Shin Suzuki 🍙

VS

UMA+ (Sayaka Obihiro 💙 & KOJIO 💀)

Utility, Monsters, Action!

Monsters? “So what!?” Choun Shiryu is here! The Dragon of ChocoPro is a Wuxia hero (having done some of the most spectacular acts in Ichigaya) with his own fantastic flair! He is one of the most legitimate forces in the promotion. This Kung Fu master boasts a truly unique fighting style, pulling off action movie stunts you’ll not find elsewhere. While his usual partner is taking some time away from wrestling, (though Ninja Sayuri is still behind the scenes, as is tradition!) this time his partner is fellow utility player Shin Suzuki! Shin is always ready to go! His warm personality and intense athleticism fit well with the general vibe of Ichigaya...and honestly, his knack for dealing with kids (as a proud father) comes in handy in this den of goblins and monsters! Shin & Choun both mesh well with just about any pairing, so expect these two to sync together with machine precision once again. Can speed and teamwork overcome this Arkham Horror?
Fresh off an appearance at GanJo, Sayaka Obihiro is cool as hell! With a deep sense of humor and lightning quick striking & pinning techniques, Obi rules...but she is a bit...different...when she teams with Monsters. The charismatic full time chef has got a great set of flame gear and an intense uncontrollable style. Even if she’s gone feral, you'll find yourself enchanted by her brash nature and wild antics! Strange and occult happenings are somewhat common in Ichigaya, and the mysterious organization known as UMA features many monsters that just so happen to wrestle. Horrors from across the world are attracted to ChocoPro due to their influence...Speaking of which, a cold wind brings a shadow over Ichigaya once again! Hailing from Parts Unknown and trained at the Nightmare Factory (which makes even more sense given that sinister look!), kojio’s frightening presence made him fit right in with the other Monsters of UMA. With brawling brutality, vicious submissions, and an absolutely wicked set of gear that makes him look like a character straight from a comic book, kojio scares his opponents and impresses the audience with his relentless nature and bone chilling aura. That laugh is something else! This unstoppable monster has been a wonderful addition to Ichigaya, but how long will he accept Obi taking pinfalls? I wouldn’t want to upset him!

Ryuichi Sekine 🐗 & Mochi Natsumi 🍡

VS

EGG TART (Chie Koishikawa 🏵️ & Hagane Shinno ⚔️)

Egg ResTart

A returning team up 12 years apart!? Pairing up Mochi Natsumi and Ryuichi Sekine is like putting two different kinds of explosives together. While the Rebellious Hardcore & Deathmatch Unit known as PROMINENCE has a lot of exciting members busy all over the place, Mochi has been killing it in Ichigaya. She is a dark clad fiery personality with an undeniable raw charisma. Her shocking moments of brutality are some of my favorites in the whole series. A well balanced strength and agility fighter with a good sense of humor will always thrive in Ichigaya, but Mochi has fit in as if she was always there...the same can also be said for Sekine! While he took time off to focus on his farming (and to get married to TJPW’s recently retired Nodoka Tenma), he is just as dangerous as he always was! He just also sells Rice Cakes now. Sekine is a loud, wild, completely chaotic element when it comes to Ichigaya. He’s known for obliterating stools and the environment alike! This violent farmer would stop at nothing to entertain the audience, unleashing a volatile way of fighting that usually ends with the opponent locked into the Combine. Much like his emoji (the wild boar), expect Sekine to rampage maniacally through ChocoPro once again. Good thing Mochi is always up for a good rampage! With these two together, be careful not to be overwhelmed by their wild energy and charm!
It has been a long time, but they’re back together! Chie Koishikawa & Hagane Shinno, the combination known as EGG TART, are a hot and cold team. Opposites definitely attract, and the polar attraction results in some of the craziest team attacks you will ever witness! “Too Much Energy” Chie brings an uncontrollable excitement wherever she goes (including recently GanJo), sprinting around the Square and delivering lightning quick striking...often from the air! Her tightly locked Stretch Mufflers and eye catching arm drags will have you shouting as much as she does. The Frantic Fencer is one of the most popular characters in all of ChocoPro! Her Wintery partner on the other hand is a remorseless killing machine...and the Super Asia Champion! Hagane’s icy ferocity usually brings about ugly thuds via heavy striking and brutal slams. The “Cold Killer” earned his epithet by easily dispatching some of the best the promotion has to offer! This ageless assassin only shows emotion around his chaotic partner...and together they amplify one another’s personality! Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:

“What is this?”

ChocoPro is a free online promotion run by AEW's Emi Sakura, that takes place in the legendary Ichigaya Chocolate Square! It features a steady pace of live Episode releases, fan interaction, season long story arcs, and much more! A place where the turnbuckles are replaced with 14th floor windows, the ropes are often replaced with fans, unforgiving walls provide creative avenues for skills otherwise unthinkable, and you can take solace in knowing that the referees usually do nothing. While it might be a shocking change at first, the intensity and storytelling will leave you wanting more.

“Why are they fighting in ____?”

Short answer is that it is a cost effective, unique venue with a better availability schedule and allows the roster access for training. Emi Sakura has been using this place for a long time, and you might be surprised at some of the names that have used it (even outside of ChocoPro!). There are a few in-ring Episodes and Gatoh Move has in ring shows with crowds on the YouTube channel. Think of it like the Hart Dungeon but as a promotion, if that helps!

”What are the rules?”

While special match stipulations will usually be explained before the respective matches, the general rules of ChocoPro are simple. Pins only count on the Chocolate Mat and are not broken by the edge or Wall. Submissions usually only count on the Chocolate Mat, and ARE broken by reaching the edge or wall (sometimes ceiling...). Double pins and Double submissions are legal (and encouraged) in ChocoPro Tag matches, meaning cohesive teams will always have the advantage! Count Outs only exist if specified, since many matches stray from the comfort of the Chocolate Square into the streets (and the rest of the building itself!) There is a Time Limit for each bout (based on card placement and importance) and the Referee has discretion (even if they tend to do nothing most of the time!). Every Ref is different, some have different levels of bias and speed.

“How can I support them?”

Watch the show! Even if you can't see it live, the views matter! Like & Subscribe! You can join the Channel's membership for different tiers of perks...but also, you can buy single episode Sponsorship, Digital autographed photos, and more on their shop site as well as purchase shirts from PWTees (which features some great options!) If you'd like to donate or purchase a main wall sponsorship, you can via Paypal or Patreon...and don't forget to cheer for your favorites! (especially if you want to do a superchat!)

”How come there aren’t a lot of comments on the threads?”

ChocoPro is a YouTube show, meaning the discourse happens live...in the chat! Those that comment in the threads on here tend to do so in order to help new viewers that might be intimidated by the fast moving chat. Don’t be afraid to just dive in though, the community is friendly.

“Why are you posting this here? / Are you paid for this?”

This is a wrestling forum, and I'm trying to broaden the horizons of others! There is a lot of good wrestling out there...Plus growing the fan base means more people for me to joke around with! I honestly do believe this is what a lot of fans are looking for, even if it is too different for some! But different tastes are good. Variety is the spice of life. This is a labor of love (it really doesn't take that long) considering how much work they do to put on so many shows...for free!
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me on here or on Twitter, where I’m April Foolin’! ChocoPro is full of Mania!
Season Tracker: We're 3/18 into Season 18! (Each Season is usually around 18 episodes)

2023.04.01 20:50 Spiritual_Lie2563 1985- The Screwjob that Changed WWF History. (No, not THAT one.)

People are pretty much aware of the most famous screwjob in WWF history. Bret Hart, WWF Champion, signs with WCW following WWF not being able to afford to pay him- he has creative control for the final 30 days of his contract and refuses to lose in the country of Canada or lose to Shawn Michaels (a problem since the last PPV before he was to go to WCW had him wrestling Shawn Michaels in Montreal, which is at last check in Canada), so WWF has to double-cross him and have him lose the belt to a fake submission hold.
But that was only the more well-known one. Let's go back about 12 years prior to the WWF's beginning.
It's 1983-84, the beginning of WWF changing from the Northeast territory to the national promotion it would become. Vince McMahon was trying to do something never before tried and needed a stroke of luck to do it. The luck happened without his involvement- on a plane trip from Puerto Rico, longtime WWF manager "Captain" Lou Albano was seated next to top '80s rock star Cyndi Lauper. The two struck up a friendship, leading to her casting Albano as her father in the "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" music video- and kickstarting an alliance between WWF and MTV. As part of the alliance (and some lucrative MTV specials that'd really give the WWF's plan a shot in the arm), an angle was worked out for Lauper to do dates with WWF in a storyline that had two angles: Albano manages The Fabulous Moolah, the longtime (28 years, to be exact) WWF Women's Champion and most women's wrestlers in the business's head trainebooker, business manager, and pimp. Lauper would manage a different woman, and Lauper's client would go over.
The chosen woman was Wendi Richter, A rising prospect at the time, mostly in tag team matches. However, Richter was younger and prettier than most top women's names at the time, so she was given the nod. The storyline started and exploded out of the gate- even though "The Brawl to End it All" only showed the RichteMoolah match on TV [with a Hulk Hogan/Greg Valentine match on closed-circuit TV; all other matches were dark matches], it still did a 9.0 Nielsen rating, MTV's highest rated show in history...and it was off to the races. Richter changing her gimmick from 'generic cowgirl' to 'friends with Cyndi Lauper' made her one of the biggest stars in the company- at her peak running neck and neck with Hulk Hogan as a star, and was every bit as equal a name to him at the time.
And then, came November 25, 1985.
During this time period, Richter was feuding with a masked rival "The Spider Lady", who was usually performed by wrestler Glen Deane [a relatively younger woman]. However, that night WWE offered Richter a new contract. Richter refused to sign immediately, choosing to have her lawyer look it over [in large part due to problems with her payoffs: Despite being one of the lynchpins for Wrestlemania I at the time, the main event wrestlers received anywhere between $20,000 and $100,000 for their match that night. Richter received $5,000, and usually got $2,500 a week similar to the opening match jobbers for her work. In addition, she was added to the Saturday Morning cartoon "Hulk Hogan's Rock and Wrestling" and was seeking royalties.]
She refused to look it over- and suddenly there was something weird about the Spider Lady. Instead of looking like a in-shape woman in her 20s, the Spider Lady looked like a grandma in her 60s somehow [Richter has claimed she didn't know about the switch in Spider Lady wrestlers, but due to the age of Moolah meaning there's no hiding who she was, that is highly unlikely.] Once the change happened, the fix was in. The referee counted three when Richter clearly kicked out at one, and the Spider unmasked to reveal Moolah.
Following the match, Richter left the arena and was gone from WWF. She would not show up on a WWF event for 25 years until her WWE HOF induction in 2010, and not perform in a WWE ring for 27 years during a guest appearance on Raw. While WWE has hyped up the "Women's Evolution", peaking even for tonight's night one of Wrestlemania likely having the third show where a women's match main evented the WWE's signature event, people can only wonder what would have happened if they played ball here and top women's stars were on the same celebrity air as the top men's stars all along.
