2023.06.08 09:57 GunHasWiFi Was I meta gaming?
Hey guys I need your advice if what below is or isn’t meta gaming:
TLDR: I was given the choice between using two skills and choose the skill I was proficient in and accused of metagaming
I was playing in this group where the DM had some real weird homebrew rules for 5e, the most weird being that nearly every check a character does with the party has to be a group check, it couldn’t be one character makes the check or two people do the check and one gives the other advantage, EVERYONE has to make the check and you can only pass if the majority of players roll a passing amount.
So our party was sent into a woods to kill some Bat monsters that were killing the villages livestock and locals who go in to forage. So we go out and explore for the forest, we roll a group perception check to find the bat monsters, we fail twice and waste an entire in game day wondering around the forest and have to go back and rest or risk exhaustion. The next day our Paladin (and constantly self proclaimed leader of the party) suggests we do a group survival instead of perception cause maybe we’ll get lucky. I suggest we stick to perception because my character is proficient in perception but not survival and they use the same ability so the chances of succeeding were significantly lowered. A few other players agreed saying they were in the same boat aside from the Ranger. The Paladin accused me of meta gaming as I was using my knowledge of what proficiencies I have to decide my course of action. But I argued that my character knows he has no knowledge of how to track stuff in the wild, his whole backstory is that he’s never really even been outside of his house until a couple months ago so it didn’t seem unreasonable that my character would choose a course of action that he feel he’d be more skilled at.
Anyway, question is was I meta gaming?

2023.06.08 09:56 Twnikie Mother's Lament buff duration is not affected by Vithu's Urges 2/6 bonus
From my tests, Mother's Lament is affected by +x% Increased Beneficial Effect Duration from gear but it's not affected by Vithu's Urges 2/6 bonus.
It's likely a bug but it seems to be consistent with the Blessed Pebble Movement Speed buff since I just realized that Blessed Pebble's Movement Speed buff doesn't seem to be affected by Vithu's Urges 2/6 as well.
On the other hand, Bottled Hope, which, awkwardly, has the buff duration text orange instead of green, and may let you think that it's not modifiable by any means, is affected both by gear and Vithu's Urges +x% Increased Beneficial Effect Duration.
Gloom Cask, green buff duration text, is also affected both by Vithu's Urges and gear +x% Increased Beneficial Effect Duration.
I'd like to have a clarification from the devs.
Please share your insights as well.

2023.06.08 09:55 Punkt_Punkt_Punkt Overlapping Diagnostics Messages
Hey guys,
not too long ago I reconfigured my Neovim config from scratch. For the most part I'm happy with the end result, but one issue remains. If I interpret this correctly, the messages given by the LSP diagnostics are overlapping (please see this
screenshot). I don't think that this is how it's supposed to look (though it might be?).
This is my lspconfig configuration: ``` local lspconfig = require('lspconfig') local capabilities = require('cmp_nvim_lsp').default_capabilities()
lspconfig.pyright.setup { capabilities = capabilities -- Enable completion with nvim-cmp } lspconfig.rust_analyzer.setup { capabilities = capabilities -- Enable completion with nvim-cmp }
-- MAPPINGS vim.keymap.set('n', '
dp', vim.diagnostic.goto_prev) vim.keymap.set('n', 'dn', vim.diagnostic.goto_next) vim.keymap.set('n', 'dl', 'Telescope diagnostics')
-- Use LspAttach autocommand to only map the following keys -- after the language server attaches to the current buffer vim.api.nvim_create_autocmd('LspAttach', { group = vim.api.nvim_create_augroup('UserLspConfig', {}), callback = function(ev) -- Enable completion triggered by vim.bo[ev.buf].omnifunc = 'v:lua.vim.lsp.omnifunc'
-- Buffer local mappings -- See `:help vim.lsp.*` for documentation on any of the below functions local opts = { buffer = ev.buf } vim.keymap.set('n', 'K', vim.lsp.buf.hover, opts) -- Press second time for movement within floating window vim.keymap.set('n', 'gd', vim.lsp.buf.definition, opts) vim.keymap.set('n', 'gT', vim.lsp.buf.type_definition, opts) vim.keymap.set('n', 'gD', vim.lsp.buf.declaration, opts) vim.keymap.set('n', 'r', vim.lsp.buf.rename, opts) vim.keymap.set({ 'n', 'v' }, 'ca', vim.lsp.buf.code_action, opts) vim.keymap.set('n', 'f', function() vim.lsp.buf.format { async = true } end, opts)
end, }) ```
Does someone one what might be causing the behavior seen in the screenshot? Thanks for all advice and insights!

Hey all! If you’ve seen my posts on this sub before, you know I like erp games
But, I’m just so sick of having to be the DM, so I would like to try and find someone to run a module I really like the idea of for me
I will fully admit, I’ve played through the first chapter of the game, but that was a while ago
I am UNWILLING to pay for this game. Please understand that, as I had some people offer to run the game in exchange of payment
I want this to be a 1x1 game. Please DM me first, as I would like to list something that I’m uncomfortable putting in a post here due to the fact that underage people frequent this subreddit
Anyway! I hope one of you guys decide this is like worth your time or whatever. Have a good day, otherwise!

2023.06.08 09:53 ChairmanMeeseeks [Democratic Front] [Greater Corellia] Senator Lysandis Alim releases a statement on the passage of the GEA
From the Office of Lysandis Alim, Senator for Greater Corellia Sector, Co-Leader of the Democratic Front
It is with enormous pride and relief that I can say to the galaxy today that the Galactic Emancipation Act has received enough votes in the Senate to find its way to Chancellor Mothma's desk and become law.
I thank all those Senators who joined me in this multi-partisan effort, and I thank in particular my colleagues in the Democratic Front who assisted me in the writing and proof-reading of this bill. The effort to get it from my desk to Mon Mothma's has been a taxing one, some tried to run up false concerns, and others I feared would not vote at all. And yet today I am reminded of the enduring good faith within Galactic politics, and I am reminded that consensus building and consultation, an effort I embarked on prior to introducing the bill onto the floor of the Senate, remains a sharp tool at our disposal. As it stands currently, the bill has been unanimously accepted by the Senate... a triumphant day for the Republic and Democracy!
This bill will enable the Republic, through its various institutions, to make targeted but decisive strikes against the slave trade and ensure a future for those people's freed. This is a bill for all the Republic. It is a bill for Kashyyk, for Ryloth, for Coruscant, for Morlani, and for all the worlds where there are still those who languish in chains. To those people I say "lift your head up, and your arms too, for the day comes soon when the hammer will fall and the pain will be broken".
While it is immensely gratifying to see one's own work become law, I am not satisfied... indeed I am restless. This is not the last triumphant step in our efforts to eradicate slavery. On the contrary, the journey has only just begun, but what we have done today is put our boots on and boldly set out on a path which we cannot turn back from. A shining path to liberty and justice for all.
And let it be remembered that Democracy worked today. Let those who doubt the democratic process, or the Democratic Front, be cowed by this example. Where there is clarity of purpose and strength of action, the Democratic process can work and can deliver real change. Remember that going forward. This is a moment of fortitude for freedom's great cause, and that fortitude shall propell us across the galaxy shouting the battle cry of Freedom.
May the Force guide us on our journey as we lay the Republic's ancient promises as the foundations of a brighter Galactic future.
Let the work continue, and let all the Republic be heard

2023.06.08 09:51 Icy_Scholar_1154 Across the Spiderverse is the dark knight of animation
Across the Spider-Verse, let me tell you, it's an absolute masterpiece. From the stellar voice acting to the breathtaking animation and captivating storyline, this movie has set a new standard that will inspire superhero and animated films to step up their game.
Now, let's talk about animated movies in recent years. With a few exceptions, it's been a disappointing ride. Gone are the days when Disney and Pixar consistently delivered bangers. The themes of their movies and the animated style have become repetitive and uninspiring.
Personally, I've lost interest in their new movies. And I believe the public feels the same way. Have you seen their latest offerings like "StrangeWorld" or "Lightyear"? They're just terrible films that fail to capture the magic and innovation we once associated with Disney and Pixar.
But then there's "Into the Spider-Verse" and its sequel, "Across the Spider-Verse." These films are on a whole different level. They have redefined what animation can achieve and have proven that it can be on par with, if not better than, live-action films.
The attention to detail in the animation is mind-blowing. Every frame feels like a work of art, with vibrant colors, fluid movements, and a visual style that's both unique and captivating. It's a visual feast that keeps you glued to the screen from start to finish.
And let's not forget about the storyline. "Into the Spider-Verse" introduced us to a diverse array of Spider-Man characters from different dimensions, weaving together a complex yet accessible narrative. It's a story about identity, self-discovery, and the power of embracing our differences. It's a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.
The voice acting in these films is top-notch. The cast brings their characters to life with such passion and authenticity that you forget you're listening to actors behind the scenes. They infuse their performances with depth, humor, and emotion, making us truly invest in the characters and their journeys.
"Into the Spider-Verse" and "Across the Spider-Verse" have already secured their place among the greatest films of all time. They have shattered the boundaries of what we thought was possible in animation and have left an indelible mark on the industry.
So, to all the filmmakers out there, take note. These films are a testament to the fact that animation can be a powerful storytelling medium that rivals live-action. It's time to push the boundaries, explore new artistic styles, and tell compelling stories that captivate audiences and leave a lasting impact.
"Across the Spider-Verse" is not just a movie. It's a game-changer, an inspiration, and a celebration of the limitless potential of animation. Don't miss out on this cinematic marvel that will transport you to a world where imagination knows no bounds.

2023.06.08 09:48 milestobudapest Off leash dogs and inattentive owners
Every morning I have started doing a long-line decompression walk with my 6 month Golden Retriever called Sunny. She's very excitable and can sometimes have trouble staying calm in outside environments. These walks have been great as its given her the chance to have some freedom to burn off energy, take in lots of sights and smells and give me an opportunity to walk on attention, recall and settle. I tend to do these walks in big open parks as we have a couple nearby. However, I am becoming so frustrated with other dog owners. It seems that because we're in a park, 90% of dog owners think it's fine to let their dog off lead despite having 0 recall and not paying to attention to what they're doing. It's getting to the point where I'm questioning if we can even go to these places ourselves. I have countless examples over the last couple of months but I couldn't help but feel the need to vent with this mornings encounter. Towards the end of the walk I like to get her into a semi-distracting environment, but one she can keep settled in. Today this was near a pond and kids recreational area. It was early morning so there wasn't many people about but once I get her in a settle, I like to do some hand feeding and capture attention she's giving me. We stayed in this spot for about 10-15 minutes and I fed most of her breakfast, to the point where she was completely settled and focused on me. We notice a man walking past with a lead in hand, he gets about 10 meters up the path and still no dog in sight. At this point the owner is nearly out of sight and then a dog appears and stops, staring down my dog. The owner hasn't realised (why would he when he's far away from his own dog) and his dog begins to slowly approach us. I attempt to keep my dog’s attention, while gathering our stuff and attempting to move on. At this point Sunny gets very excited (shock) and the other dog comes closer. Sunny gives off a playful bow and starts jumping from side to side, typical excitable puppy stuff and in return the other dog begins to growl at her. All the meantime the owner has just about realised and repeats his dog’s name over and over. I'm fearing if this dog is going to react and attempt to attack my dog. Eventually I manage to get our stuff together and begin walking away and the other dog ran away. For the rest of the walk back to our car I had to deal with an over-aroused dog that wouldn’t listen and began making bad decisions. I’m so sick and tired of other owners not being considerate of us. I explicitly make sure we’re out of the way of other dogs and people and always keep her on a long line so I have control over her. Why can’t anyone else do the same? I’m trying to best to keep encounters with other people and dogs calm and measured but every morning I feel like we get set back by other people who fail to control their own dogs. Does anyone else have similar experiences? What do you do in these situations?

2023.06.08 09:46 Ok-Pipe-2802 I hate my con dad
I knew I was poor ever since I was a kid, my dad wasn’t really there cause he was always in jail and when he was he was physically and mentally abusive. But no matter what I still loved him. My mom was never home so it was pretty much just me older sister and the god awful middle sister. My dad knew that I would ho beyond earth for him, and he used that to his advantage. When he needed a key to the house so he wouldn’t have to break in he would just ask me, and I would give it to him, if he needed me to talk him up I would, if he needed me to say he was with me to the police, I would. But after a while I lost count on how many times he said he was going to get clean or that he would stop going to jail. I stoped needing him, I was finally okay that he wasn’t in my life, till he got out again, he went to a freedom house to get clean. And when he was a year clean he asked my sister and I to live with him cause he knew how bad my living situation was. We said yes. My mom was livid and said that we are betraying her but I was just trying to get out of a bad situation. It was going so great. My dad got married, I loved her, he had another kid with her, life was great! Till it wasn’t. Beginning of freshman year i rejoined cheer, I was in cheer for 7-8th grade. So when I joined I thought it would be awesome and fun, but no. The coach hated me for one, the girls where bullies and I sucked. I wasn’t the lowest of low and was having mental breakdowns right before practice. So when my dad found out I wanted to quit he went ballistic. He refused to let me quit till he found out I was cutting myself. He let me quit on the part of me being grounded till the end of football season. But he took everything I used to keep myself from thinking of kym or self harm. So once again I was really low. I was getting yelled at every time I Would cry, he finally ungrounded me and said I was making everyone else miserable, during this time I had to babysit my little brother a lot, my step mom had work but my father just got fired for relapsing on drugs, we thought it was a 1 time thing but no. Ima need to do a update I can hardly see rn from my crying.

2023.06.08 09:43 CyanideLovesong Learning a new DAW (making appreciate Reaper even more)
I used Cakewalk SONAR many years ago. As most of you know, Cakewalk was bought by Bandlab and they have a new version (paid) coming out at end of year. I thought I'd re-learn it in anticipation of that.
But it's really,
really hard coming from Reaper.
The more DAWs I become fluent in the more convinced I am that Reaper wins in every category except possibly appearance in some regards. (However, the streamlined appearance arguably contributes to one of its best qualities -- unmatched performance... And TBH I like the default theme and I'm OK with the programmer look of the plugin scripts, although I wish they all had input/output meters.)
Anyhow -- tonight I'll talk about few killer Reaper features, and two ways that Reaper could improve.
KILLER FEATURES:
- I bound a hotkey to expose an automation lane for the last touched control in any VST/VSTi (action = "FX: Show/hide track envelope for last touched FX parameter)
- After that it's just a couple more clicks to enable an LFO or random oscillator on the automation. Most DAWs can't do this, and it's a FAST way to add life & movement to a track. Best of all, it works in-addition-to any recorded or drawn automation... So you can modulate your manual automation!!! This is incredibly powerful and fast.
- This one everyone here knows -- any track can act like a bus. So you can create complex nests of folder busses or routings, whatever you need. You don't realize how important and simple this is until you're in a DAW that doesn't have it.
FEATURES REAPER COULD HAVE:
- This one is a must. There's no reason not to have it. It's simple, good, and non-controversial... In Cakewalk, if you're zoomed in on a track such that clips are off to the right -- it leaves a trail of breadcrumb dots so you know the track isn't empty. So you know, subtly, that there are clips to your right. Reaper doesn't have this, and if you're zoomed in on a track you can end up deleting it by mistake.
- Navigator. I experienced it first in Mixbus, but Cakewalk has it too. It's a sort of miniature view of your tracks and whole song, so you can quickly navigate it. It's only controversial in that some people wouldn't use it, but it's a good feature that some other DAWs have.
In the end, every DAW has its own unique benefits. Reaper just has an
unusual amount of benefits related to power, function, stability, customization, external scripts & community supported plugins, speed, reliability, and price.
This makes it really hard to learn other DAWs because you have to set that aside to appreciate another software... But it's a LOT to set aside!

2023.06.08 09:38 Kitchen-Branch2658 The thought of what I am going to do for the rest of my life is very intimidating at 18
Can anyone relate to this?
I've always been an obedient kid, following whatever my parents and teachers said, through my whole life until now, I never really had to make a decision for myself, my parents would make it for me. We were all guided by teachers and parents for what we should do up until highschool graduation. I never felt like I needed to make the conscious choice of what I want for myself, I just let the river flow me naturally in the one way directional stream of life up until now, I am 18 and about to head onto college. For the first time, no teachers were telling me what to do, what assignments and exams were due at when, and for the first time I don't need to ask permission from my parents to do things, it has become so quiet. It feels so surreal being an adult now. If I wanted to do something I could literally do it, no one is forcing me to do anything or not to do anything. If I wanted to randomly go to a club or join an organization to meet new people and learn something that isn't forced upon me like in school, I can. It's 5pm for me right now, If I wanted to I can just get in my car and drive to the city and spend a night at the bar if I wanted to. I have never had this much freedom before, it feels so surreal. The rest of my life is completely within my hands now, I can change it however I want, I can be part of a community whenever if I wanted to, you get the point. It's like flowing from the one way river that was life before now, and into a vast ocean of endless possibilities, I can do anything at any time if I wanted to really.
I've had this freedom for some time now, a few months, but for some reason I can't get myself to do anything really, It sorta has led me to a minor depression where now it really hit me thinking what am I going to do with the rest of my life, I can spend my days and time however I want, so what will I be doing for the rest of my days now? Thinking about this deeply has made me feel a loss of meaning and purpose in life and an existential crisis, with this much freedom it was a double edged sword. Furthermore, I have felt not confident in meeting new people in adulthood now, I feel like I have imposter syndrome for being an adult now. And what stops me from meeting new people and doing different things is not having my old friends be around to do these things with me. As we have always done stuff together, whether it be joining clubs together in highschool and stuff, so it really feels lonely to make new friends since I haven't done it in so long, I've tried to but the conversations never feel deep and I am constantly wanting to just go back to hanging with my old friends only since we have so many inside jokes and experiences etc. I also feel like I am pretending in a way when I'm speaking to new people, it feels awkward cuz it feels like I'm hiding another part of my personality, I've noticed that I show a slightly different personality and views with the different friend groups I hang out with, which makes me feel liek a fraud. So many days have gone by and I've jsut been stuck in this cycle where I've escaped this feeling of being so lost with video games and unhealthy things, I really want to break out of it

2023.06.08 09:37 ash-rose10 IIH without papilledema?
Hi everyone. I am seeking advice or any info on whether you can have IIH without papilledema? I am currently in the process of seeing a neurologist for a diagnosis but wanted to know would IIH be disregarded if I didn’t have papilledema as an initial symptom? I have been suffering severe headaches for a few months now, worsening dizziness, feeling off balance, pressure around my head but mainly my temple, face and back of head regions, feeling really slow with my thinking and memory, disassociation (like I’m not present), stiff neck, sore, watery eyes with pressure behind them, my head feeling full and heavy on my body all the time and seriously horrible tinnitus and a pulsating feeling in my head when I make a movement or stand up that I can actually hear and feel. I went to see an optometrist about my eyes and the pressure I’m experiencing and apparently y optic nerve was looking okay. I have requested an MRI and want to push for a LP but worry the neurologist won’t think this is worth doing.
I am not sure if this is the right place to post but I just want some advice on this if possible. Thank you!

2023.06.08 09:33 MonkishRaptor40 A 2 am doozy of a rant written by an insignificantly meaningless life. One that almost no one will read and most who do will skim at best.
I feel melancholy. Not a combination of happy and sad but I guess mourning taken to its highest extreme. I mourn the things I haven’t lost yet. It makes me desperate to do anything to keep things the way they are but the fear of changing things further freezes me in place leaving no room for growth. I want everything to stay the same but I’m also scared that when they have to change I won’t be ready. The only solution that offers both is death, and dying terrifies me. What do I do when the only solution to a problem is the most terrifying thing in the world and will ultimately make others upset anyway. I’m scared to lose my friends because I don’t think I’ll be able to make new ones. I guess I fear the loss of that sense of closeness and all the related feeling of happiness and belonging. I guess I’m scared of losing everything I hold dear and also scared of being the reason I lose them. I guess I want to want to die, Or at least be comfortable with it, And when I do I want to be happy. I want to die anyone other than who I am today but I want today to last until I die. It seems like anything I have the illusion of controlling I just so happen to be a part of the process of. I’m still a minor so I’m already limited in freedoms which makes me feel trapped but I also feel safe because of the limitations. Maybe partly because I know without them I’d trap myself anyway. I feel as though I took to long to start developing any kind of social skills and any attempt now would lead to embarrassment and further entrapment in a self destructive cycle, that, because I feel like I can’t talk to anyone about it, and, no matter how ridiculous and impossible an option it seems now, ends in my suicide. Or at least glorified suicide by failure to live.

2023.06.08 09:32 Bongololona123 Anna finds the right wood
Once upon a time, in a remote village nestled amidst the lush greenery of India, there lived a diligent and strong-willed man named Arjun. Arjun was a skilled woodcutter, known for his ability to effortlessly chop wood with his trusty axe. Every day, he would venture deep into the forest, seeking fallen trees to provide firewood for his village.
Meanwhile, in a distant land far away, a European woman named Anna had embarked on a transformative journey to India in search of spiritual enlightenment. Introduction:
Ankle weights are a popular fitness accessory that can take your workouts to the next level. These weighted straps or pouches, worn around the ankles, provide added resistance to various exercises, targeting the lower body muscles. In this article, we will explore the benefits, considerations, and effective ways to incorporate ankle weights into your fitness routine.
1. The Benefits of Ankle Weights
Increased Muscle Engagement:
Ankle weights add resistance to exercises, challenging your muscles and promoting increased strength and endurance. They specifically target the lower body muscles, including the legs, glutes, and core, helping to tone and sculpt those areas.
Enhanced Calorie Burn:
With the additional weight, ankle weights increase the intensity of cardiovascular exercises like walking, running, or jumping jacks. This, in turn, boosts your calorie expenditure and can contribute to weight loss goals.
Improved Balance and Stability:
Wearing ankle weights requires additional effort to maintain stability, which can help improve balance and coordination over time.
2. Choosing the Right Ankle Weights
Weight Selection:
Ankle weights come in different weight options, ranging from 1 to 10 pounds or more. Beginners should start with lighter weights, gradually increasing the load as their muscles adapt. It is essential to choose weights that challenge you without compromising proper form or causing discomfort.
Secure Fit:
Look for ankle weights that offer a secure and adjustable fit. Velcro straps or adjustable buckles ensure a snug fit around the ankles, preventing the weights from slipping or moving during exercise.
3. Safety Considerations
Proper Form:
When using ankle weights, it is crucial to maintain proper form and technique throughout your exercises. Focus on controlled movements and avoid any jerking or sudden motions that may strain your joints.
Gradual Progression:
Beginners should start with lighter weights and gradually increase the load over time. Pushing yourself too hard or using excessively heavy ankle weights can lead to muscle strain or injury.
Individual Limitations:
Individuals with pre-existing joint issues, injuries, or certain medical conditions should consult with a healthcare professional before incorporating ankle weights into their workouts.
4. Effective Exercises with Ankle Weights
Leg Exercises:
Ankle weights can intensify exercises like squats, lunges, and leg lifts, helping to strengthen and tone the lower body muscles.
Cardiovascular Activities:
Add ankle weights while walking, jogging, or doing aerobic exercises to increase the challenge and boost calorie burn.
Core Workouts:
Incorporate ankle weights into exercises targeting the core, such as standing or seated twists, to engage the abdominal muscles more effectively.
5. Conclusion
Ankle weights are a versatile fitness tool that can elevate your workouts and bring about numerous benefits. By adding resistance and intensity to lower body exercises, they help build strength, improve balance, and enhance calorie burn. However, it's important to use ankle weights responsibly, starting with appropriate weights and focusing on proper form. Consult a fitness professional or healthcare provider to ensure safe and effective use of ankle weights as you work towards your fitness goals.
