2023.05.29 23:50 TOOL____ Really noticing a lack of offers right now, really disappointed with Small Giant for not providing us with enough opportunities to give them our money.
2023.05.29 23:50 SCN_Attack “Why do conservatives think X?” “Why do liberals think Y?” Is it possible that the non-group members might be better equipped to explain the behavior of in-group members?
Okay, hear me out. In this post, we are allowed to be as arrogant and self-righteous as we want.
Very often, people will ask here and elsewhere “Why does [group] believe [thing]?” And then everyone will say, “why don’t you go ask them?” But, is it possible that people from outside the group in question might be better at explaining the belief than the group itself? In my head, there are quite a few reasons that this could at least in theory be possible:
- people are terrible at self-reporting about their actions/thoughts/reasonings.
(
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5639921/) (
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7977810/) (
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-report_study)
- people within a group may not be as acutely aware of biases within that group as other people.
- oftentimes people will change groups (liberal to conservative, vice versa) and thus have literally experienced the other side’s line of thinking.
If my opinion, I would imagine that it is somewhere in between. But I’m curious if there is a better discourse to be had if we could get past the idea that only people that are of a group are allowed to comment on that group.

2023.05.29 23:49 asjsaklfjasaj Is it too late for me to convert? CW - Suicide/Depression topics
* I'm sorry if my wording is insensitive or improper.
Hi, I'm a 16 year old AFAB queer person, and I've never described myself as religious because of how I was raised. I have a Satanist father, and a non-religious mother, who I've lived with primarily my whole life. My father didn't have much influence over me I believe from when he was in my life. Over the past few recent years, I've found myself praying more frequently. Maybe not properly, but still taking time out of my day to pray for safety and forgiveness from God for what I do, and I'm finding myself more hopeless and confused. I don't know where I should be, or what I should believe in, and where I should even start, and if it's too late for me, if that makes sense.
I've attempted suicide more than once. I have a history of self harm. I'm diagnosed with a ton of mental illnesses alongside my depression such as anxiety, social anxiety, psychosis, PTSD. I don't take care of myself. I compulsively lie and frequently change my character to adapt to others likes. I'm a people pleaser. I'm ridden with guilt constantly, and I think even if I were to try and convert or learn more about Christianity, I'm too far gone down the path of a sinner, I guess, or that I'm already some sort of failure who's bound to suffer for the rest of my life. I know we're all sinful by nature, and God still loves us, but I'm still confused and stressed. I need some guidance.

2023.05.29 23:48 Elegant_Front_8561 Is Silent Hill 2 really that ambiguous?
Going through the series as a newcomer, and i started with SH2. Overall i found the game to be great, except for one aspect which really dissapointed me: the story straight up doesn´t leave anything to the imagination. Every character eventually tells you their story and thought process outright, the room with the gravestones yells at you the concept of the town, even James in the end and Born from a wish explain Maria in case you had any doubts about anything.
Now one aspect the game kind of leaves you to figure out are James feelings through the enemy designs and enviroments, which is cool, but come on. Every single enemy's (except for Pyramid Head and the mannequins) allegory is so fucking obvious once you know his story, with the whole disgust/sex/hospital/guilt connotations. Just compare Abstract Daddy to something like the Siren from Rule of Rose, it really showcases that it is not exactly subtle. Now dont get me wrong, these are great and iconic designs that excellently show us James mind, but they're not exactly ambiguous.
By the end of my first playthrough i was really weirded out because i had literally no doubts about anything, after a game that is often treated as an ambiguous and abstract game, so i went to the wiki to see if i missed something. Except for some extra details from the novel nope, i didn´t find anything bar some details in the enviroment and small things you can only see on a model viewer.

2023.05.29 23:47 Far_Box5449 Are you a Designer Lead? How many hours do you work?
Hi Guys!
In my entire career I've seen my leaders working long hours.
This makes me thinking about my own career. What path should I want for my feature?
Well, In Brazil it's really common leaders of tech companies working 10… 12 hours a day. I remember to see my boss online from 8am until 10 pm very frequently.
So, could you share your country, industry where you work and how many hour per week do you usually work?
I'd like to know if this is a reality of Brazi kk Ian Market or of it is anywhere

2023.05.29 23:47 Soggy-Chemistry9068 Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ending
One of my beloved shows has come to end this week and I wanted to know the general reaction of the fans. I personally had tons of issues with it including: omitting Midge’s fallen relationships with her children and her path to fame after the Gordon Ford show, Lenny Bruce’s improper sendoff that ends with him bombing, the unanswered questions revolving Midge and Joel, the unrealistic survival of Midge and Joel’s parents and even Susie in the giant time jumps, and worst of all the lack of humor throughout the season, but that’s just to name a few.
I already made a long winded comment on another post stating some of these opinions in detail, but I want to hear from you guys since there have been a lot of positive reviews from critics. What did you guys think?

2023.05.29 23:44 SpyridonZ Trying to come up with a plan/path through maps for our server...
I currently run a server for my group of friends (currently 4 of us) and we've been on The Island since the start.
We're currently getting to a point where we just have to farm towards the higher bosses, but it seems like particularly the alpha boss strategies often use a sort of glitch or dinos from other maps - especially considering the levels of dinos on The Island are lower. Not sure how to approach this or if we should even power through, or just set a plan to come back for them later on?
I'm wondering what type of path we should have through the DLC/free maps? But I have some concerns...
I was considering the path through the official DLC's before the free maps... But I am not sure if that would be the best idea, as I am concerned if the group will keep their interest starting over so many times. With so many official maps followed by the free maps... There just might be too much content to realistically plan through right now.
One other issue is this would require everyone to purchase the maps, though. So I'm not sure if we should focus on the free maps first. As I'd heard Fjordur has much of what the other maps offer. But I also saw people saying the free maps are more of a sandbox and better later on...
Also I am not sure on the rules I should allow - I am thinking I'd allow character transfers (so we don't have to level from scratch), but not allowing Dinos - at least until later on when we enjoy the natural progression through the maps.
Then there's progression... The progression path through The Island is fairly clear... Expand to the harder areas, work through the caves to the bosses. I'm not really sure the paths of progression through the other maps, and which might be the most fun to play through and explore in this sense. Are any of them outdated or are the forms of progression found better on other maps?
I know there's always the options of going back later to check out the other maps. Are there some that I should prioritize for a group like us?
Really trying to find a way to maximize the amount of fun we can have with the game. Any advice on coming up with a plan through what is available these days?

2023.05.29 23:43 ReplyStraight6408 [GUIDE] How I Emigrated And Gained Citizenship Abroad
I've been seeing a lot of posts and comments on here and other Magrebi subs talking about how to "get out" of the country and live abroad. I grew up in a mixed household and had two Magrebi passports before I turned 18 and most people in my community have traveled, worked and some emigrated. Now I wanted to share what I have learned with this community in hopes of helping others who want to do the same.
Completing Secondary Education: The Journey Begins
When I completed my secondary education I became qualified to apply to America's
Diversity Immigrant Visa Program which is by far the easiest way to emigrate. The application is free and you can reapply
every year until you win. The only requirement is you have a passport and completed some form of post-secondary education.I was also attending University but I kept the necessary documents saved and placed an annual reminder on my calendar which told me reapply every year on
October 5th when the application opens up. A few of my friends won while they were still completing their undergraduate degrees and transferred to American Universities. I had yet to win so I looked for more opportunities.
Graduating University: First Time Abroad
In my 4th year of University I began aggressively applying to jobs abroad. I applied to jobs all over the world but 90% of my applications were to positions in the Khaleej because
they allow you to gain residency if you find employment and don't tax your income. This was important to me since my primary reason for seeking employment abroad was to make more money. From my experience the best platforms to apply for jobs are LinkedIn,
Bayt.com and Stack Overflow if you're in tech. I eventually got a good job offer in the UAE and moved Dubai to start my new career. I opened a bank as soon as I had my National ID card so I wouldn't have to worry about the capital flight restrictions anymore.I also made the decision to live
incredibly frugally because my goal was to pursue graduate studies in Canada (more on why later). I studied and took the
TOFEL and
IELTS exams since they are necessary for both education and immigration purposes. Meanwhile I kept applying to the American DV lottery since it would still be the fastest way to get permanent residency.
Graduate Studies: Moving to Canada
After about 2 years I had saved enough money to being studying in Canada. While education in Canada is not as expensive as the United States it is still very expensive so knowing
where to apply is very important. From my research the following Universities offer the best tuition rates for international students:
- Memorial University of Newfoundland
- University of Manitoba
- University of Regina
- Simon Fraser University
- University of Saskatchewan
- University of Calgary
- Dalhousie University
In addition to the low tuition costs they are also located in inexpensive cities which is as important. The reason I choose Canada as my destination for graduate studies is because after you complete a Master's degree in Canada, you are eligible for a
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) which allows you to work in Canada for a duration equivalent to the length of your program (3 years max).I enrolled in my two year graduate program and began my graduate studies in Canada. I made sure to network during this time and attended every career fair regardless if it was for undergraduate student or graduate students. I kept my CV up to date and used LinkedIn strategically to network with hiring managers. Meanwhile I continued to apply to the American DV lottery.
Finishing Master Degree: Gaining PR in Canada
After graduating from my Master program I found a job and applied for the PGWP so I could remain in Canada. After a year of working in Canada I became eligible to gain permanent residency (PR) via the
Canadian Experience Class (CEC) immigration program. The CEC makes it very easy for educated and skilled foreigners to gain PR in Canada. It's a point based program so the more "qualified" you are the easier it is for you to gain PR. There are many nuances to the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) but here are the main things the program looks for:
- Work Experience (Canadian experience preferred)
- Language Proficiency (IELTS scores)
- Education (Canadian education preferred)
- Age (Younger people preferred)
In general if you completed your education in Canada and worked in Canada then you are a
very strong candidate for Canadian residency. This was my case so I gained permanent residency after being on a PGWP for about two years. I continued to apply to the American DV lottery the whole time.
Becoming Canadian Citizen: First Foreign Passport
After living in Canada for three years I became eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship. I gathered the necessary documents, completed
Form CIT 0002 and paid the application fees. Later I completed a citizenship test which tests your knowledge of Canada's history, values, institutions, rights etc.. After passing the test I attended a Citizenship Ceremony and received my Certificate of Canadian Citizenship which allowed me to get my Canadian passport. By this time I had lived in Canada for 6 years and thought I would have lived here the rest of my life but something interesting happened: I won American DV lottery.
Moving To America: The Journey Continues
I had kept applying the the American DV lottery because I saw it as a form of insurance in case one of my applications was denied or if my immigration to Canada ran into issues. I was ready to stop since I finally had my Canadian citizenship but on May 6th I received notification that I won the DV lottery.Since I work in tech I feel the United States will be a better place for me to work and many of my Canadian colleagues had already move to the United States for higher paying jobs. I wasn't interested in going through the H1-B visa to PR process but now that I can skip ahead to the PR I'm going to go for it. I submitted all the necessary documents and once I have my Green Card I'll being applying to jobs in the United States. I'm really excited to see what the future has in store for me!
Final Thoughts
Like I said from the start my goal was to write about my journey to help people on here learn more about what opportunities are out there and show it's no that hard to "get out" if you really want. I would say my main takeaways are the following:
- Be Persistent. It took 6 years for me to gain my Canadian citizenship and 12 years to win the American DV lottery. If you aren't ready to keep trying then you shouldn't bother starting.
- Pursue Multiple Paths. If you want to go abroad you need to pursue multiple options at once because you never know which one will work out. Look for education opportunities, work opportunities and other opportunities like the American DV lottery.
- Education is King. The more educated you are the easier it is to move abroad. Completing your secondary education allows you to apply for the American DV lottery. The TOFEL and IELTS are necessary for graduate studies and PR applications. Canada's point based system favors more educated and skilled people so you will always have a way into Canada if you're educated and skilled.
If anyone would like more information I am happy to answer question and provide more information about my journey. I have tried to give as much information as possible while still maintaining some privacy so forgive me if I have been too cryptic. I hope this post helps!

Let's get the pictures/voice clip out of the way immediately so you know if I'm your type or not right? And to treat you with my adorable kitty.
Me rambling (Apologies for any lip smacking sounds):

https://imgur.com/AClSOtd Just a pic of the cute kitty:
https://imgur.com/a/TDQvhYz ANYWAY. I'm Michael. I'm a single guy from New York (Not the city) looking for love or at least someone that will play games with me(PC). I'd ideally like someone that's empathetic, is into gaming(Not a must), animals, and voice chatting. I've noticed over the years that it's difficult to find people that put effort into communication, so it'd be nice to find someone that does.
To describe myself? I'd say I'm empathetic, easy going, talkative, competitive, and direct. I say how I feel and focus on communicating with my partner the best I can. As a partner; I'm nurturing, considerate, and affectionate. I want to make YOU happy because that would make me happy. My love languages would be all of them. I don't know how people can pick just a few. I like to do everything for the person I'm with.
When I'm not gaming; I like to exercise, play tag with my cat, watch horror movies, go for walks,, sing to myself, and practice doing voices cus that's fun for me.
Anywho, The games I'm currently playing (I'm open to most games tbh, so if you don't play these, that's okay!):
- Honkai Star Rail
- Overwatch 2
- Path of Exile
- League of Legends
- Fortnite (No build only)
- Diablo soon
- Teamfight Tactics
But yeah if you're looking for someone that's emotionally available, can cook, won't ghost you, and will spam you with pics of a very cute orange cat, I'm your guy. So, if my face appeals to you, send a message (if it isn't buggy) and tell me a bit about yourself! We might not fall in love or anything but I'll probably make you laugh at least once.
Thanks for reading 🙂

I'm currently trying to do a Beast of the Bottomless Stomach and for that I obv have to feed the beast. In a guide I've read that I should make 8 dragonpies daily to feed it, and I have yet to acquire one from the crops, but I've also just checked on wiki that Steamed Twigs give the beast 100 hunger. Doesn't that mean just 3 per day is gonna be enough??? So confused.

I'm trying to take some ge courses at CC over the summer to complete my ge requirements, but I don't get how the requirements work. For example, I need more credits for AH (arts& humanities), DD (domestic diversity), and SS (social sciences). On Assist, the ge requirements are marked as UC-A, UC-H, UC-B, etc. I'm assuming for my AH ge requirements classes with the UC-A or UC-H will cover it, but how do I know which classes will cover my ge credits for my DD requirement? I'm really confused about this, am I looking at the wrong thing?
Also, when I try to google answers, IGETC requirement keep popping up. I'm current an undergrad student at Davis, and I've completed some of my ge requirement here already. Would I have to follow the IGETC path for cc in the summer? Or can I just ignore that?
Thank you!

2023.05.29 23:38 IndividualIcy4418 Refugee (not a Daily Mail headline)
Hi everyone. I hope you're fine. I'm a 20 yo male Refugee from Middle East. I was recently allowed to start a new life in your country by the Home Office. I do understand some of you might have strong feelings about this like go home and why did you come here or whatever. Okay. I will. As soon as I can. I don't want to be here just as much as you don't want me to be here. But, let's do damage control for all our sake. I'm on UC and live in supported accommodation at the moment and I fucking hate it, I feel useless, maybe I am. I have applied for more than 100 jobs in service sector and only 5 interviews. I'm neither a genius doctor whose gonna cure cancer as leftists say nor am I a criminal and rapist as right wingers say. I used to be a Cinema projectionist and wrote pieces in university magazine about movies while I did a literature degree. Oh man I wish I had listened to my dad growing up and learned a trade. I was just a kid yesterday hanging out with my friends and thinking about girls and dad gave me pocket money and I worked at a cafe and all of a sudden I'm here and life is too real. Too fucking real. Almost unbearable. It all seems like a dream to me, not a good one, not a nightmare. Just unreal. There's a lot I haven't unpacked. I have zero friends and family here. I live in a situation that if I died tonight my body would be found in a month. I said "let's do damage control for all our sake" what I meant was please give me any advice or guidance to put me on a path so that I get off social services and unemployment insurance. Thanks for reading. Peace out.

2023.05.29 23:37 Present-Set-6153 Sometimes coughing small amounts of blood 31F
Looking for some answers. Posting for a friend.
She just spent the night at the ER complete with tests run. Doctors said they’re not too sure could be bronchitis - wbc was elevated so they also mentioned possible infection but that was generally it (said to come back if it continues or worsens).
She does have her read out reports if needed as well. Just trying to find a path to look into, thank you.
31F No medications No non-prescribed anything
Pseudo Tumor Crebri/IIH (2019) PCOS (without cysts at time) 2019/2020 Migraines often Inconsistent/high & low balancing back & forth TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone)
Smoker / rarely occasion drinker / mild-moderate caffeine / current high stress personal life
Recent (give or take past month) Random coughing spat that brings up small amount of red blood in spit. It's a vomiting act that brings it up after starting off as a cough.
No persistent cough. Happening for at least a month but not daily. Maybe 3 at least and 5 at most for the week.
Chest pain: upper left quadrant, radiates through back and to shoulder, sharp pains randomly when it happens. Feel better with repositioning.
