Most of the challenges in action were just meh imo. At least we saw characters like Justin, Lindsay and Harold shine a bit. I never liked when a character is just brought into the middle of the season (Courtney) or a character just returned after getting voted out (Owen and Izzy). I also feel like some characters were done dirty. (Trent's character just changed abruptly. Gwen. Lindsay. )

What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader. This also has implications for users who rely on these apps for accessibility reasons.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this may be a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app.Should /CarletonU participate?
Other Canadian University Sub-Reddit's have opted to participate in this protest, such as /UBC and /UWaterloo. In my opinion, I believe we should be participating. Our mod team has had brief discussions around this and haven't come to an agreement on how we should approach this situation. I have personally reached out to mods of other University subs to gauge their thoughts on the issue, and we have decided that a poll to see our user's interest in participating.Our internal conversations had several arguments on both sides:
- First off, /CarletonU doesn't use any third-party moderation bots. However, I myself use a 3rd party app in which I do a majority of my browsing and moderating from (can't speak for the rest of the team on this front).
- This is reddit drama, that has nothing to do with CarletonU. While true, like it or not, we are part of the reddit ecosystem, and these changes to the site can greatly affect the ecosystem as a whole.
- We are a small sub-reddit, it won't make a difference if we participate or not. Sure, one sub-reddit alone may not make a difference, but it is about the totality of the protest which will send a desired message. Furthermore, in terms of size we are a top 5% subscribed sub-reddit on this site.
- If this is going to happen, now is an optimal time as it is during one of the quiet periods for our sub as activity is low during the summer. The counter-argument being that people may have important questions about grades or registration or acceptance, etc. However, keep in mind that there are official avenues within the University to seek this information and /CarletonU is a community run by students and former students.
- /CarletonU goes private, with no posts or comments visible for at least 48 hours.
- /CarletonU goes into restricted posting mode, meaning you can view existing posts or comments but cannot make new ones.
- /CarletonU remains open.
We are also open to other suggestions on how we could approach this either during the 48 hour period or after.

Mercy to the Stranded.I was on my usual Merchant's run, emissary flying and all. Full cargo of unsorted tea, heading to the destination. As I've seen on the map, there was a Reaper ship sailing nearby. But outpost was quite close already. "I need to hurry" i thought to myself "because these guys are dangerous, and he can see me on the map". It was certainly the time to cut corners. And cut I did. Trying to squeeze in between islands and being a skillful helm I am, I've rammed my ship into Rum Runner Isle, running aground completely.It was that bad. I was dead stuck. I've tried everything: sails, no sails, wheel turned, wheel straight, harpoons. Nothing helped. And I could already see Reaper's sloop heading straight to me, sails down. Panicing, I've made the only thing I could: I've lit all my lanterns with green flames from Ferry (I had it on me) and, when my doom sailed close enough, screamed through my speaking trumpet: "Dude! I'm completely stuck! I need help!". At this point I expected nothing. I do not know what was going through this Reaper's head, but he just sailed past (having a few good laughs probably). Perhaps, he decided that I'm too miserable to even bother. Through the spying glass I could see how he engaged in a battle with a skelly ship. Sailing away I realized that he was just a level 1 Reaper Emissary. He couldn't see me on the map in the first place! In the end, my voyage has finished successfully. Sometimes, being a total failure can save you! I hope this guy had a few giggles. Honestly, I wouldn't have been mad, if he chased and sunk me after I made my escape. Because now I know: even Reapers have mercy! Sometimes. I have a second story like that and will make another post later. |

Please bear with me and my (probably) weird question. This place was very helpful with another question I had about home art studio set up so I’d figure I’d ask here again!
Is it a good idea to keep an aquarium in an art studio? Asking bc it’s dawned on me that the studio is where all my paper supplies are kept and tanks… well the water evaporation would cause a bit of humidity right? Would that kind of humidity damage the paper? I haven’t bought the aquarium yet, still in the planning stages. And yeah! Totally own up to this probably being a bad case of me over thinking stuff lmao. And yeah, I’ve asked the aquarium sub and understandably, humidity affecting paper supplies was not much of a concern for people lol

Obviously, this question is in relation to the current drama surrounding API, third party apps, and the Reddit CEO, u/spez. I support subs going dark for a few days, and I understand some are doing it permanently. I actually use the Reddit official app, and it doesn't bother me, but I think what Reddit is doing is obviously very shitty, and I am particularly angry on behalf of disabled users, who used third party apps to access Reddit content. It is also my understanding that moderators rely pretty heavily on tools available in the third party apps, and I am often in awe of the volunteer corps of moderators that keeps Reddit from being a total shit hole. I would like to show support and solidarity for both of these populations.
I am considering leaving Reddit, but I have come to rely on it for a few communities, especially local ones. Long story short, my mom passed away 2 years ago. The dynamics of her passing have caused A LOT, A LOT of family drama regarding her estate, family relationships, my father, his remarrying, siblings, etc. that have totally overshadowed her passing. I got stuck in a legal bind settling things with her estate and my dad (they divorced prior to her passing) that has taken way longer than anyone has wanted but, the longer it takes, the more relationships between family members seem to be souring. We are close to finalizing everything that needs to be settled, but stress amongst family members have increased and I'm just trying not to blow up and/or let myself be dragged into other family members' blowing up. It could take 1 month or the next 6 months to finalize everything.
Needless to say, this has caused a lot of stress in my life (I go to therapy to try to process all this as well) and I'm still new at this job that I currently have...how can I communicate to my boss and coworkers that I am just going through all of this (in a professional way) and that my potential showing up sad/depressed, or not cheery, to work has nothing to do with work, but just all this family drama? I'm trying my hardest not to let it spill into work.

So this week makes the fourth month that I have moved away and outs of the living situation that I was in with my ex boyfriend. The first two months saw me going up to visit him weekly as we were still trying to work out our relationship while taking space apart from each other to better ourselves. Then around the ending of the second month of me having moved away we had a very big argument, and I decided that I needed to break up with him until he made the changes that I needed him to make... little did I know at the time that this would be a blessing for him. Since we broke up, I went up to visit him twice. even as friends we still said our I love yous. We’ve been together for so long, that he did truly become my best friend, and as most of us know when we enter a relationship, we tend to isolate ourselves from our friends groups, and our boyfriends become our main concern.. Also Covid hit and that just further exasperated that.. So slowly, but surely he started to drift apart the second time that I went to visit, and we haven’t even bigger fight.. So fast forward to two or three years ago When my ex-boyfriend overdosed on heroin in my bathroom of the apartment that we lived in together.., this saw me saving his life, CPR, mouth to mouth and calling 911 all while being traumatized, handling my ex-boyfriend’s now blue body… OK back to the second time I was up there, visiting him after we broke up: I said something like oh well I don’t like my roommates and you hate living with your parents, so why don’t we consider living together again after my lease ends. He looks at me while you were in a retail store and says to me “ oh, I would never live with you again.“ I got super offended because I’ve never really done anything like that to him, if anything, I’ve stood by him and supported him like no one has ever done for him in his life. I was almost playing a housewife’s role while working a full-time job, for this man. Thinking in the back of my head “ motherfucker I saved you and have permanent PTSD because of something you put me through, (which, by the way, I have never dared speak of as my experience, whenever we did briefly speak about it because he is the person that saw the lights and almost died and so I try to keep my experience of that day to my) still wanted to live with you, so what is it that I could’ve done that was so much worse than that you never wanna live with me again.. the only things that I ever did was hold him accountable and try to better him. Even though he cheated on me after he said to me that he wanted to close our originally open relationship so that we can work on each other and our relationship. This was a year ago when he said that to me not even a day later, he says to me that he thinks that it would be a good idea for us to have a threesome together. he obviously wanted more than just me. so he got online on Grindr and he started to look at the man on the grid and he said this one seems cute and pressed on his current boyfriend’s profile. I considered it because I loved him so much. I wanted to make him happy. I started also speaking to him on my Grindr, and we seem to be hitting it off. Even though he was cautious because he said that he was afraid to get involved with us in fear of causing drama. which now looking back is total fucking bullshit because that’s exactly what he did, and he manipulated his way into being a permanent fixture in my ex-boyfriend’s life. So after he said that he was probably not going to get involved with us because of drama him and my ex-boyfriend secretly slept together the very next night. I found out about this and had a full mental breakdown. as I laid crying on the kitchen floor. My ex-boyfriend lifted me by the shoulders, looked me in the eyes and said that he would never speak to him again if that’s what it would take for me to forgive him. he promised me hugged me told me everything would be OK that he was sorry. I decided to forgive him, even though it took a while. after that point, he had me under the impression that he was not speaking to this person at all. A few months later, or in the car on our way out of town when his caller ID on his car popped up this guys name. I immediately fell silent as he quickly fumbled to hang up his phone. He then had the goal in the audacity to ask me why I was silent the rest of the ride, shaking my thigh, asking me what’s wrong what’s wrong over and over again? I didn’t say anything our lease at our apartment was ending soon after which I had plans to move away and leave his manipulation lies gaslighting never owning up to anything behind me. Sadly, I was not in the financial position to do that so after our lease ended, I moved in with his parents with him and we were doing slightly better. then the fighting started again, and I made the decision that I was going to move, and I self like a room in a four bedroom apartment about 45 miles away, and I got it and I moved away. all it took was a few dozen miles.… Unfortunately I came to find out that they never stop speaking. they fooled me. I feel so much for trail from my ex-boyfriend, whom I never thought was capable of doing something like this. I believe that they both planned what ways would get me to break up with my ex-boyfriend fastest and they executed that plan together. in April, which was after me and my ex-boyfriend had that huge fight in the retail store. The last time I visited him ever I got a request from the guy on Facebook to message me. He said something towards the fact of him being really sorry that he ever got involved between me and my ex-boyfriend and that he wished that he could have stayed out of it so that he didn’t have to deal with my ex-boyfriend’s bullshit... I didn’t reply, but I did inform my ex-boyfriend to which he was screaming, yelling, threatening to go, beat him up and all of that.…. Little did I know that was the first indicator that they had a much deeper relationship then I knew of. I thought my ex-boyfriend wanted to go beat him up to stand up for me because of how much I’m contacting me or even hearing his name hurts me.…. But obviously I know now that that’s not true and the reason he was mad at him was because they had formed a real close relationship or they both were in on it... either way fast forward to two days ago when I got a call from my ex-boyfriend telling me that he was now dating this guy. and don’t be proud of him for doing the right thing as if he called me to inform me to be a standup guy he did it because not even three hours later they made it official on Facebook and put each other in their Instagram bios.. The man that refused to give me a monogamous relationship has the words “taken by @insertguysnmae and only him” in his bio….

All of them are complete nutcases showcasing the mental illness that drove their kids away in public and airing all their dirty laundry.
Bestinterestofourkids, aka "the lemon", revealed herself to be anonymousally198 recently, I don't know if she knows the filter came off mid video while she was stitching someone or if that was on purpose but they are an absolute boot licker, I just can't stand how she aligns with estranged parents after claiming to be estranged herself, and so cowardly to post pro-estrangement stuff with her real face on the anonymousally198 account and then hide behind the lemon to interject herself into other people's drama and promote her tradwife beliefs.
fromempoweredtoestranged/estrangedparentsrus is the one that takes the cake, I can't believe her kids didn't estrange sooner. She claims to have all these rare diseases and a SEVERE TBI (a minor concussion from falling down) that caused symptoms for years and then proceeds to be the least knowledgeable person on medicine on the entirety of tiktok, which is impressive. She says she went through a "healing brain surge" where her "neural pathways were rerouting and bringing up flashing memories" for 2 years which caused her to act up to her kids. Also she claims she wasn't bipolar before her TBI but the doctor agreed that the fall "brought up her genetic predisposition that was under the surface" and now she has bipolar disorder, but its totally new and she was not bipolar before. She's got the medical understanding of a child.
I don't think she realizes how easy her information is to find, so in one tiktok post she's talking about how her "tbi symptoms are acting up again" and how hard that is, and then on her facebook for her "rare immune diseases" she tells a story about how she was just at her neurologist who said she was doing perfect thanks to her rare treatment for her rare diseases! Oh did she tell you how rare her 4-5 diseases are? (sometimes she forgets some depending on where she's posting).
Disneygia is just a piece of work but she's pretty harmless. She has one kid she's close to so I don't know why she even does all this instead of focusing on that kid. Estrangedparents I sometimes feel sorry for but you can see the little glimpses under the surface that I'm sure were only reserved for her kids in private and it's hard not to believe the soft pitiful outside is just a mask for the chaos under it. A historia começa quando decidi criar um fake para seguir pessoas da cidade e quem sabe até trocar uma ideia, até que comecei a seguir uma menina, e um dia criei uma história só para iniciar a conversa com ela, por que já tinha visto pessoalmente e parecia legal pra trocar uma ideia, mas não queria que fosse o MEU perfil que fizesse isso, então por isso chamei no fake.
E deu certo, a gente começou a conversar no início sobre coisas atoa mesmo, time, rolê da cidade e esse tipo de coisa.
Mas foi um passando um tempo e ao passar das conversas, a gente foi criando uma intimidade, sem eu ter essa intenção inicialmente, e por incrível que pareça nosso papo se encaixava, nunca tinha falado com ela nas nos demos muito bem. E ela foi gostando do fake que tinha criado mas isso foi principalmente por causa de nossas conversas (e também tinha fato dela as vezes ser muito carente por causa de uns motivos merdas, isso vai fazer mais sentido ao passar da história) e sem contar que o fake era bonitão também (é o cara mais manjado do Pinterest pra fazer fake), enfim..
Sobre as conversas, partiu de coisas simples pra mais complexas em questão de 2 semanas ela já tava desabafando e falando coisas MUITO pessoais, e querendo já encontrar o fake que eu tinha criado, as coisas eram sobre o quão ela se sentia sozinha mesmo com muitos amigos, e que gostava muito do meu fake, mas tinha coisas legais ainda como falar de futebol, do dia dia e etc, a gente conversava muito (isso já tava saindo do controle por não era minha intenção, só queria conversar atoa).
Mas até que tive que arrumar uma desculpa para ela e o fake não se encontrar, falei que ele tava mudando de cidade e não tinha previsão para voltar, minha vontade era simplesmente bloquear ela porém nós 2 conversavamos muito, talvez se eu sumisse o psicológico da mina iria piorar de alguma forma. (Ela já tinha contado muita coisa da vida dela, como a família que não ligava pra mina, o irmão meio otário que as vezes falava muita merda..)
Depois disso eu e ela continuavamos conversando, mas eu tava querendo que aquilo se encerra-se logo, já tava muito longa aquela história, mas não tinha nem um plano que fosse ok para ela, como disso os 2 já eram muito íntimos.
Teria uma grande evento na minha cidade onde ela perguntou se o fake iria, falei que sim (nem eu sei o por que) e então o dia do evento chegou, e obviamente ele não iria aparecer, e acabou que me deu um peso na consciência por que ela tava perguntando onde tava o fake, acabei não respondendo, e ficou por isso.
Porém no outro dia fiquei me perguntando se ela tava bem, eu tinha outro fake na época mas nem usava, então eu fui burro o suficiente para FORJAR A MORTE DO FAKE PRA ELA, PARA EXPLICAR O SUMIÇO DO CARA. O plano plano foi o seguinte: usei esse fake que não usava e passei como o amigo do cara pra segui ela, ela me seguiu de volta e soltei uma nota de falecimento do grande amigo deste fake, que seria o cara que deu aquele "sumiço". Na minha cabeça isso seria menos pior do que ela receber um vaco sem explicação, por que os dois era tão íntimos, ela tinha falado tanta coisa sobre os dramas familiares, desabafos e etc que eu não queria deixar aquilo daquela forma, tinha que ter um motivo.
Obviamente ela começou a perguntar na dm o que aconteceu, expliquei tudo, falei que ele tinha morrido em um assalto em um posto a caminho deste evento, que ninguém sabia dos detalhes ao certo e era isso, porém ela não se conformou, ficou maluca, triste pra caralho e começou a mandar áudio chorando, daí começou o inferno total, tudo que eu não queria começou a acontecer... O psicológico da mina que não era bom ficou ainda pior, ela ficou falando que a vida não fazia mais sentido e que ela só queria se matar para encontrar esse fake... Fiquei doido com isso, mas nao parou por aí...
Ficou 2 dias nessa, e eu não poderia sumir do nada de novo por que meio que tava servindo como zona de escape pra ela, tava tentando não deixar a mina não fazer besteira, chegou um ponto que ela disse que tinha feito uma promessa que iria no túmulo do cara... Que supostamente estava NO RIO DE JANEIRO.. lembrando que a gente mora em Mg no interior... Porém o que tava ruim poderia piorar, no 3 dia deste " luto " foi uma madrugada ela de novo começou uns desabafos, mas desta vez tava sendo pior, ela do nada mandou mensagem pedindo desculpa e logo depois falou que tinha tomado vários remédios para MORRER, ela falou uns nomes que esqueci e pesquisei na época, não era fatal mas tinha grande risco de morte, já que ela tinha tomado MUITOS, fiquei em Pânico, comecei a perguntar onde ela mora pra chamar a ambulância, ela não falou..
Uma coisa mais bizarra: a família viu tudo isso e não fez porra nem uma, só deixou a mina toda ferrada na cama, sei disso por que tinha perguntando a ela.
Enfim, até que as mensagem pararam de chegar, achei que tinha acontecido o pior, fiquei sem reação mas com esperança que ela tava viva, até que depois de umas 15h ela acordou e mandou mensagem ainda lamentando que tava em vida.
Mas não contei um detalhe que fez toda diferença nessa história: todos familiares e amigos dela sabia desse fake, uma hora alguém iria descobrir que isso na era real por que ela postava homenagem ao cara no IG toda hora, depois descobrir que até no status do zap também (mas conversava com ela só no IG) e ainda teve um vídeo no Tik Tok que ela postou também como homenagem a ele, que chegou a bater 50k de visualizações....
Enfim, no mesmo dia que ela acordou depois de se dopar toda, finalmente descobriram a verdade, ela me enviou um print de um outro perfil com as mesmas fotos do cara que supostamente teria morrido, outro print de uma pessoa perguntando ele se ele era o perfil real e claro, o maluco disse que sim.
Aí a casa caiu de decidi logo falar que era fake, falei que ela era uma menina incrível e que não contaria nada a ninguém (Depois de ter falado isso apaguei todos os perfis e nunca mais mexi com fakes, claro) Esse não era o plano, só queria aos poucos para de falar com ela até garantir que o psicológico da mina ficasse ok.
Me sinto horrível até hoje, ela era realmente muito legal, se soubesse que ela tinha esse tanto de problemas não teria falado em um perfil fake.
Hoje em dia ela tá bem, vi em outros lugares depois disso e o IG continua ativo.
Motivos: basicamente o por que de ter começado a ter falado com ela e levado isso a frente é saber que nunca irei conseguir ter um papo assim com algumas pessoas devido minha aparência e idiotice, eu via fake como uma forma de escapar dessas merdas, obviamente depois disso parei com tudo isso.

E deu certo, a gente começou a conversar no início sobre coisas atoa mesmo, time, rolê da cidade e esse tipo de coisa.
Mas foi um passando um tempo e ao passar das conversas, a gente foi criando uma intimidade, sem eu ter essa intenção inicialmente, e por incrível que pareça nosso papo se encaixava, nunca tinha falado com ela nas nos demos muito bem. E ela foi gostando do fake que tinha criado mas isso foi principalmente por causa de nossas conversas (e também tinha fato dela as vezes ser muito carente por causa de uns motivos merdas, isso vai fazer mais sentido ao passar da história) e sem contar que o fake era bonitão também (é o cara mais manjado do Pinterest pra fazer fake), enfim..
Sobre as conversas, partiu de coisas simples pra mais complexas em questão de 2 semanas ela já tava desabafando e falando coisas MUITO pessoais, e querendo já encontrar o fake que eu tinha criado, as coisas eram sobre o quão ela se sentia sozinha mesmo com muitos amigos, e que gostava muito do meu fake, mas tinha coisas legais ainda como falar de futebol, do dia dia e etc, a gente conversava muito (isso já tava saindo do controle por não era minha intenção, só queria conversar atoa).
Mas até que tive que arrumar uma desculpa para ela e o fake não se encontrar, falei que ele tava mudando de cidade e não tinha previsão para voltar, minha vontade era simplesmente bloquear ela porém nós 2 conversavamos muito, talvez se eu sumisse o psicológico da mina iria piorar de alguma forma. (Ela já tinha contado muita coisa da vida dela, como a família que não ligava pra mina, o irmão meio otário que as vezes falava muita merda..)
Depois disso eu e ela continuavamos conversando, mas eu tava querendo que aquilo se encerra-se logo, já tava muito longa aquela história, mas não tinha nem um plano que fosse ok para ela, como disso os 2 já eram muito íntimos.
Teria uma grande evento na minha cidade onde ela perguntou se o fake iria, falei que sim (nem eu sei o por que) e então o dia do evento chegou, e obviamente ele não iria aparecer, e acabou que me deu um peso na consciência por que ela tava perguntando onde tava o fake, acabei não respondendo, e ficou por isso.
Porém no outro dia fiquei me perguntando se ela tava bem, eu tinha outro fake na época mas nem usava, então eu fui burro o suficiente para FORJAR A MORTE DO FAKE PRA ELA, PARA EXPLICAR O SUMIÇO DO CARA. O plano plano foi o seguinte: usei esse fake que não usava e passei como o amigo do cara pra segui ela, ela me seguiu de volta e soltei uma nota de falecimento do grande amigo deste fake, que seria o cara que deu aquele "sumiço". I had been going through a year of pure insanity, coming at me from all angles. No matter how little I want to do with drama and chaos, it finds me from the people that are around me. During this time, most of it was family related. I was having an argument with my husband, over something that my daughter had caused. I basically shut down and I felt this impending doom. Not like an anxiety attack, like I was on a rocket to the moon, an angry insane rocket. It was building up and building up and I felt like there was no coming back from it. I started screaming and pounding on the center console of the truck while staring my husband dead in the eyes. It was freaky. The INFJ stare in the worst way. After it was over and I burnt out all my energy, I felt great. I was totally embarrassed, but I felt good after. Back to normal. I apologized for my crazy abnormal behavior. I am usually a nice calm person. Has this happened to anyone before??
