2023.05.29 23:14 WhoTookPlasticJesus Anybody driven the 1 through Big Sur/Limekiln lately?
I'm taking my kids and their friends to VidCon in June and one of the friends has never spent time in California (she lives in Queens). So I thought I'd have her fly into SFO and do the long drive to Orange County, since particularly this year our fine state is Peacocking and there's no better time to see it. But I know that Highway 1 has been closed in the Big Sur area. As of 5/26
a bunch of highway was reopened, but I'm still not sure how that works. Is it closed it all traffic? Are there detours through the park? Should I just avoid it all and cut over to the 101 in Carmel?
Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but there's no
/askcalifornia or BigSuMonterey focused subs.

2023.05.29 23:05 ChicoTallahassee Is the corporation I work for being raided by investors?
I work in an entertainment park/zoo/hotel in the maintenance division. Most people work here seasonal. The CEO of the company changed about 6 years ago and he replaced most of the management. Long term employees with leading roles were fired or degraded. New ones were put in place. Since that day most of the sales have been going down and public news has been negative. Guests complain about food prices being 3x to 5x times the usual rate and parking prices changing overnight while guests are sleeping. The CEO orders to turn down ventilation, heating and water flow to a minimum in order to keep costs at a bare minimum of what's needed.
The new employees can just drive to the stores around here and order whatever they need for the park. Nobody controls what's ordered or what's needed. This results in lots of surplus goods and multiple people ordering the same things. Leaving us with several of the same objects. This seems very uneconomical to me.
Management brags to each other about how they ordered a power washer for the park since they needed to clean their terraces at home. This is just a small example.
This weekend there was nearly no staff in the hotel and rooms were filled with guests. The kitchen wasn't performing as usual and had to serve cold food. Rooms weren't cleaned in between stays and maintenance wasn't performed. Management told all employees to stay home. Resulting in chaotic situations and lots of guest complaints over the weekend.
What's the purpose of all this? Is the corporation being raided?
PS: I hope this is the right sub to ask this. If it isn't I'll kindly remove my post and find a more suiting subreddit.

2023.05.29 22:48 DMP89145 The Yin and Yang of Real Life
As a sub, we spend a lot of time discussing passages, parables and allegories. Most of it is to help us all stimulate our own individual understanding of Daoism, though I think we lean towards too much Yin. From time to time, I’ve found situations in today’s society that can really highlight the paradox that Daoism can often be in everyday life.
There’s a report of a man, who I’m sure thought he was doing the "right" thing. Only to later find out that his “good” deed has resulted in a situation that is not so good.
Yellowstone National Park rangers euthanized a newborn bison calf after a visitor touched the animal, trying to help it catch up with its herd, the National Park Service said on Tuesday. The herd had been crossing the Lamar River on Saturday evening when the calf got separated from its mother on the river bank, according to a press release from the agency. A man observing the scene approached the animal with apparent rescue intentions.
"As the calf struggled, the man pushed the calf up from the river and onto the roadway," NPS said. "Visitors later observed the calf walk up to and follow cars and people."
Park rangers repeatedly tried to reunite the calf with the herd, but the herd resisted. The rangers later euthanized the calf, saying its persistence in approaching cars posed a hazard to guests, according to NPS.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, he could be charged with Class B misdemeanors, including disturbing wildlife, disorderly conduct (creating a hazardous condition) and approaching wildlife, according to Morgan Warthin, a spokesperson for Yellowstone National Park. If found guilty of those charges, the man could face up to six months in jail and a $5,000 fine, Warthin told NPR.
NPS has frequently defended its policy of not interfering in the natural death of animals on public lands, including orphaned offspring. "Our focus is on sustaining viable populations of native wildlife species, rather than protecting individual animals," reads an NPS webpage on the policy. "An animal's survival depends on its own daily decisions and natural selection."
Full Story This circumstance has so many layers when read with Daoism in mind. For me, the man and the Park Service are both “right” and “wrong” at the same time.
I think the man wanted to do the “right” thing initially, but may have been unaware of the laws and rules of the park, violated them and may be facing punishment for doing so. The Park Service did the “right” thing in euthanizing the calf, but I also don't agree with a lot of laws and regulations.
The park service approach of “An animal’s survival depends on its own daily decisions and natural selection” is the “right” one to have. At the same time, they have also put artificial protections in place and regulate “natural selection” by euthanizing the calf in this case.
But it also causes me to wonder about intervention and injecting one's self into situations. We give people advice in the sub all of the time. Granted they post because they are soliciting advice. If the calf had "asked" for help, perhaps it is different than "assuming" they need or want help. Perhaps intervention leads to unforeseen negative consequences. Perhaps the "I was only trying to help (i.e. do the "right" thing)" isn't always the best action to take. Perhaps letting things run their own course is more inline with Daoist thought.

2023.05.29 22:28 Aisling_The_Sapphire Subnautica: The Definitive No-Spoilers Guide For New Players
Updated May 2023 I recently changed Reddit accounts and it's been about a year, so it seemed prudent to repost this for visibility. :)
https://subnauticamap.io/ - This is an interactive map of the crater. However, be warned that it will show the general location of things you need to find. This can be toggled but if you have zero point of reference for the places mentioned in this guide, this map should provide one.
General tips are at the bottom, however, they rely on you having played at least part of the way through the game so I don't recommend checking them until at least part 3, AKA "Going Traveling"
Subnautica is a game primarily about exploring your environment while overcoming the trepidation that the game sets up in you over doing so. Although there isn't a perfect guide to being able to clear the game, there also isn't an unambiguous path of progression for the player, either.
Consequently new players often find themselves at an impasse in terms of progression and where to go. The following is a no-nonsense, straight to the point guide on how to progress, but it's not a bible. You can do most of this just by exploring and wandering around.
A blind playthrough is critical to the first time player experience. This is often true of every game but for Subnautica it makes or breaks the whole story - you need to have no idea what the hell is going on the first time you clear the game. If you spoil it for yourself you will regret it, please believe me in this. This guide is meant to give you a nudge when you find you don't know where to go next, it's not really meant as a walkthrough, even though it can be used as one. Do yourself a favor friends, don't go wandering
/subnautica or the wiki too much and this guide will not lead you astray. It is written
specifically for brand new players.
The Beginning
When you first arrive on 4546b, you find yourself with basically nothing. You're hungry, thirsty, your lifepod is broken and your cookies are gone. The Aurora is burning (and you nearly did too) but despite all that, you're alive and this planet is about to get some Ryley in it.
The environment around you has most of what you need to get started. The metal scrap strewn around the shallows provides an easy source of Titanium while you can break limestone and sandstone to get the minerals you need for your starting tools. You'll want the quartz you find for glass.
Although you have a number of options for making equipment, at this stage I don't recommend using resources for the air pump or pipes. Truth is they don't really have much use; they create a breathing line from the surface for when you're diving, but they're expensive and there's better alternatives in your near future.
Once you have a scanner and knife, take the time to scan everything you can. All the local wildlife can be scanned and most of the flora.
Your objective at this point is to build a repair gun, knife, seaglide, flashlight and scanner. Branching Out
Now that you've got your basic tools and you can get around a little, it's time to begin exploring. At this point you've seen the deeper waters on the edges of the kelp forest.
It's time to go take a look.
The red grassy plains have what you need to progress to deeper waters. You'll want to explore the wrecks there.
There are four grassy plains surrounding the shallows at compass points and cave systems exist in three of them which will become relevant later, but are largely out of your reach for now. It is out here that you will find fragments necessary for an important task you must complete soon.
Raiding the aurora will require the laser cutter you learn to make here. You'll also want a propulsion cannon, which you can find the fragments to near the side of the Aurora. DO NOT GO AROUND THE BACK OF THE AURORA. SERIOUSLY. You are not prepared for that level of giggling insanity yet. By now you've fixed the radio
and may have triggered the sunbeam event, in which case you will want to go follow that. Give yourself the full span of time to go to the island and explore unless you'd prefer to explore after the event, but don't let yourself get distracted by what you find there and miss the ship arriving. The signals you've been getting are important prompts and need to be checked out when possible, so make sure you take the time to do that. Also, when you go to either island DO NOT PARK YOUR SEAMOTH NEAR THE BEACH.
DO NOT PARK YOUR SEAMOTH NEAR THE BEACH. There is a real risk of it phasing through the ground and becoming inaccessible and then you'll end up on this subreddit asking how to get it back like the other 5 guys a week. Seriously.
Also note that bringing an ion cube to the top of the mountains caves will let you do something interesting up there, but I won't be specific. A scanner room at this spot is ideal not just to
track the reaper leviathan on the eastern side of the island but there is quite a lot of shale and lithium here as well, which is probably something you're gonna want.
Going traveling
At this point you should have a seamoth, your basic tools, a laser cutter, propulsion cannon and lead suit. You are prepared. It's time to go to the Aurora... but only if you've gotten the communication from Alterra with the captains door code. Otherwise, you must wait for that radio event. You can go explore the ship anyways of course, but not having the code means you can't get into the captains room, requiring you to go back and get it later. So it's up to you. You can open the door anyways if you get the code off the internet or something but since the game gives it to you anyways, you can always wait for the prompt.
If not, the door code is 2679 If you have a cyclops I don't recommend taking it, since reapers hang out at the front and back ends of the ship. However, a seamoth is small enough to fit through the broken superstructure of the ship at the front and thus avoid this danger. There are two ways to access the ship and although it seems impossible, you CAN in fact climb up to access the open one. Otherwise, you can use the prop cannon to move the debris out of the way of the door near water level. Be sure to take the time to explore inside and use the carry-all bags to leave stuff you want to keep from the ship out the front so you can come back and pick it all up later. There's lots of useful stuff in there.
As a side note here, the leech-like things that annoy you in the reactor room are called Bleeders. I hate Bleeders personally, but I noted that if you grab one with the propulsion cannon and fling it into the wall
out of sheer spite then other bleeders will be attracted to the body, which makes grabbing and doing the same to them quite easy. Clearing the entire room of those little #*(
[email protected]'s only takes a couple minutes.
You can get the codes for various rooms inside from the PDA's you find. Also note that some doors can only be opened once you repair them. Sometimes the Aurora glitches and these repair sections don't work but because the ship has two entrances, you can always go around the back to clear the whole thing, which is... annoying. If you don't mind being patient, leaving the Aurora and doing other things for awhile will reset the wreck, allowing you to come back later and potentially be able to repair the doors then.
The codes for the ship are:
Cabin No. 1: 1869 Captain's Quarters: 2679 Cargo Bay: 1454 Lab Access: 6483 Time to go down
With the Aurora repaired you have the ability to wear things other than the lead suit, so it's time to chuck that in the trash 'cuz you won't need it again. It's time to get the outer wrecks in the zones beyond the shallows and
hoo boy ain't that gonna be an experience.
The cyclops is your friend here. But what's this, you don't have a cyclops? Well, that's okay. You may have found one of the engine fragments on the aurora in the cargo bay but if you missed it, it's not really a big deal. Your next objective to build one is to go explore
mushroom forest and the underwater floating islands for the fragments you'll need. If you've been following your radio signals you've probably been to the aurora rendezvous point by now, but if not, take the time to go thoroughly explore that island. One of the PDAs you need to find the next place is
not at the degasi base, but on one of the paths of the island near an arch of rock. You'll need to explore the island thoroughly to find it. Make sure to scan everything and bring back plant samples if you have a seabase.
You can use plant pots to keep food trees on your cyclops for easy access to food without worrying about curing everything all the time. Once you have the cyclops, you need to take the time to upgrade your seamoth to depth so you can explore the various wrecks, supplement your PDA database and establish yourself properly for long-term operations. At this point in the game you should be aiming for or already have:
A seabase, even a basic one. A couple corridors with lockers are invaluable for storage and operations and the scanner room is MISSION CRITICAL. If you haven't built one yet, get on that! A seamoth, either at or being upgraded to 500m depth Knife, flashlight, repair gun, seaglide, scanner, laser cutter, propulsion or repulsion cannon, rebreather Be sure to check everything, then check it again! It's easy to miss things on the island. Be sure to check the buildings on the tops of the hills there too. Although it would be nice to be able to plant land beacons (hint hint, Unknown Worlds), it's not feasible for marking out
the precursor gate on the floating island so unfortunately, it's not of much use unless you have your base on one island or the other. I don't recommend the floating island for this for reasons which will become apparent later in the game.
Looking into the abyss
If you've explored most of or all of the wrecks and no longer have missing technology, it's time to go deeper. If you've been following your PDA signals you need to check out the degasi bases and follow their story, as they lead you to a large, deep cave which is the path to deeper places you need to explore.
There are several inlets to the place you need to reach.
Northern Bulb Zone where it meets Mountains has a large entrance. Blood Kelp Zone and Trench both have entrances. The last one is in deep grand reef, where the final Degasi base is. I personally recommend either
Deep Grand Reef or
Bulb Zone but the latter has the most accessibility.
Raiding the final Degasi Base before exploring this cave system will get you
the orange precursor key which you'll need to access something hidden at
the southern end of the caves near blood kelp trench's entrance. While working down here I strongly recommend making liberal use of beacons as navigational guides if you're new to this place. It is VERY confusing and looks very same-y if you haven't spend a lot of time here.
Deep inside the caves you'll come upon a chamber with a massive skull sitting on a chunk of land in the middle and access to a slightly lower part of the cave system which is
not green. This is the
Cove Tree Cave and the brine there will not hurt you the way the green brine does. This leaves you able to free dive there to gather materials without needing to rely on your prawn.
This chamber with the skull is, in fact, the central chamber of Lost River. It is an excellent place for building a scanner station and the entire area is ludicrously rich in resources. It's a perfect place to stock up and catch up any upgrades, tools or devices you may be lacking so far. You'll want the resource stocks for later and honestly, it's just a really cool place to have a base in general.
The
Disease Research Facility is in the north-eastern arm of Lost River, accessible through the
Bulb Zone entrance. A juvenile ghost leviathan guards the path but as with most leviathans, operating in silent running and staying above or below it while sticking to the cave walls will get you by without any issue. If they do notice you, just pop a decoy, go full speed for about 5-8 seconds and then drop the engine to low and stay in silent running until you get far enough for the big ugly to stop bothering you.
The southern part of Lost River holds a large chamber with a
ghost leviathan juvenile and houses another rather large skeleton. This area in particular is rich in large ore deposits and
crystallized sulfur that you'll be needing for some big upgrades.
By the way, remember the cyclops shield? By now you're probably noticing that using the auxiliary functions on the cyclops eats a lot of power. Redundant power cells are your friend and if you feel you're worried about power costs while exploring, you lose nothing by having a buttload of spare power cells. It can pay off, being able to spam the shield for awhile and run away.
You'll want that shield for what's coming next.
Once More Unto The Deep
By now you've probably explored Lost River a bit and you're wondering where to go from here. If you've built a scanner room in the central chamber, you'll have noticed that the scanner, when at full range, shows a chamber below Lost River.
This is the inactive lava zone and it is here your answers lay.
You have two access points to reach this chamber. The
North-east arm past the
disease research facility and the
cove tree caves. Both entrances are equally difficult to get through but the first one feels more open, if you don't mind the ghost leviathan circling around above the opening.
This chamber is rich with even more valuable resources, if you somehow haven't got enough already. The
cove tree cave entrance leads to the western part of the ILZ chamber. The
North-east entrance leads to the north edge of the chamber. The chamber itself is rather oval-shaped, with the western edge of it relatively empty and the eastern part containing a massive lava bubble.
If you wander around down here long enough the PDA will prompt you to take a look at that bubble a bit more closely.
You will need two purple precursor keys to access the facility inside. Now that you're down here you'll notice there's a fair number of warpers, crimson rays (who are harmless) and leech-like things which will attach to the hull of your ship and drain power. That sounds like a problem, doesn't it?
Don't worry though, we got you covered. Once you're down here, go grab some kyanite and you can build the
cyclops thermal reactor which pretty much eliminates the whole running out of power problem. The shield is a great way to
get the leeches off your hull at the same time.
As for the leviathan,
the sea dragon isn't actually a whole lot of threat. It might spit fire at you and is capable of picking up and biting the prawn but will mostly ignore you if you don't go hanging out in front of it.
With that said, treat it like any other leviathan while in the cyclops. Drive slow, keep an eye on it and if it gets curious, drop a decoy and move away ASAP. Cutting your engines once you've gotten a little distance will almost always make them lose interest.
But Wait, There's More!
If you've explored the inner depths of the lava bubble, then
you have the blue key, ion battery plans and have opened the portal to the QEP. Great! Now coming down here in the prawn isn't a big deal and you don't have to drive the cyclops all the way down here to go grab resources. A small scanner base down here would be great for quickly finding what you need.
As you can probably guess, there's an even deeper chamber than this, which is the active lava zone. You can find the entrance by following the lava flows around the ILZ and keeping an eye on the floor. You'll find a large space big enough for the cyclops to lower down into.
Down here you'll find 2 sea dragons to avoid, so don't you get conservative with your power. By now you'll probably have built ion power cells and those can run your shield and sonar together for a full 5 minutes with silent running going so don't be shy about using them!
Getting into the
alien base down here will require
two blue keys, one for accessing the facility, the other for accessing the inner facility. It is here you will find the
ion cube fabricator which requires the prawn. You can use this to
open the warp gates in the facility.
Six ion cubes in total are required for this. Four for the warp gates on the upper floor and two in the Sea Emperors tank. One of these leads back to the upper floor, if you find you're struggling to get back out. This gate in particular is about halfway up the tank at the back and sits on a large ledge. An ion cube is provided to activate it, giving you a way to walk out of the tank if you find you're struggling to get out.
And... that's pretty much it, really. After that encounter you'll know where to go and what to do. The paths laid out for you in
the final facility lead you to the places you need to go to find the things you require.
Tips and tricks
- Keep floaters in your cyclops. When you're operating above 500m, running out of power, floaters will allow you to passively bring your ship to the surface without power expense so that you can resupply it. This is pretty much a last ditch move but it never hurts to be prepared.
- You can fit up to 8 basic plant pots in an observatory, which will grant you twice the amount of growing space as an indoor grow bed for the same amount of floor space while also making the crops more easily accessible.
- The engine comparment of the cyclops has a lower deck behind the vehicle bay which everybody ignores, but it's a great spot for plant shelves and marble melons for food security.
- Load your vehicles. Dedicate storage in them to supplies. Water, food, medkits, beacons, flares (bonesharks and crabsquids react to them) and spare power supplies for the vehicles. Keep this kit supplied and you will never be caught unprepared for an 'oh crap' situation.
- Okay, so you don't want to give up inventory space for your vehicles. The next best thing is then to fill a watertight locker or two with food, water, medpacks and maybe a couple spare batteries and power cells, then drop them someplace with a beacon next to them. Do this a dozen times in random spots around the map as you travel and now you have emergency caches you can access if you get into trouble.
- When you reach the point where materials gathering is easy, consider creating vehicle-creation drop points. 2-3 spots on the map with a mobile vehicle bay, a couple lockers with everything you need for a new seamoth and some basic supplies. If you lose your vehicle, it's a lot easier to make a replacement and get the mats than to get the mats to make a replacement.
- The propulsion gun is your friend. Use it to grab items to pick up, use it to grab cave crawlers and yeet them into low orbit, use it to pick up rocks and fling them at things you particularly don't like. Use it to collect gas pods from gasopods without getting hit by the cloud. Use it to move debris in wrecks. Bring a spare battery specifically for it because flinging things around uses a lot of power but the sheer utility of the tool makes it worth the cost.
- You'll be tempted to deck your seamoth out with all the toys but the truth is once you have the prawn, it's obsolete. Don't fall into the temptation of continuing to build tons of upgrades for it unless you plan to use it for a fast-fetch vehicle for things you need from far away. However, with that said, the seamoth is really the superior vehicle for wreck-diving.
- Keeping a second air tank in your inventory and swapping them mid-dive is a perfectly viable option. However, the tanks only refill when wearing them, so make sure to switch again once you're back in breathing space. This can and will save you when wreck diving and two ultra high quality tanks equals 450 seconds of air in total, or 7m30s of air.
- Speaking of air, you can use the air bladders alternate use key (F on PC - the same button for self-scanning) to get a few seconds of air out of it into your tank. It's not much - 20 seconds or so - but sometimes, that little bit extra can save your life if you're just out of reach of your vehicle.
- You can collect flora and fauna samples as you progress through the game and have a garden base specifically for growing plant samples from around the crater. Obviously this looks really nice (creepvine in an alien tank under the floor provides the room in your base with a nice golden glow) but is also useful later.
- SCANNER ROOMS. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE. If you're struggling to find the magnetite, go to Jellyshroom. If you're struggling to find Jellyshroom, always remember that lifepod 17 is directly next to one of its exit points. The range upgrades are incredibly important and the HUD chip makes the whole thing work.
- Farm supplies! You don't need to work or power anything to grow crops. Consider dropping a foundation with some growbeds, a beacon and your farmables (gel sack, creepvine seeds, creepvine samples, acid mushroom, blood oil and deepshrooms). Now you can stock up on things like batteries, rubber, lubricant, benzene, polyaniline. Keep a few of these crops in your cyclops for planting in new spots and never run out of the stuff you need while keeping your home base nice and lag free.
- Creature decoys can be deployed both by hand and by prawn propulsion arm, which lets you pull items out of your inventory to 'throw'. You can also do this with the propulsion cannon by using the F key (the alternate tool use button, the same one you use to self-scan, for all you console folks).
- Turning off your engines greatly reduces the chance of a leviathan damaging the cyclops, even if it's right on top of you. Moving is what gets their attention. If one is swimming near the sub, cut all engines and just wait patiently for it to get a little distance, then silent running and max speed for a few seconds. Pop a decoy for good measure if you want to make absolutely sure.
- You can access the right side of the Aurora relatively safely by going south to Crag Zone and then banking east into the deeper parts of crash zone. Most of the reapers are up by the ship, sticking to the bottom will keep you relatively safe and net you as much titanium as you will ever need.
- Blood kelp zone, the sea treader wreck and the meteor crater in Dunes all have secrets that you may find interesting.
- Remember the Bleeders in the reactor room of the Aurora? Bring a grav trap along - they're cheap, it's disposable - and enter through the top door by climbing along the wreckage up there. Pop the grav trap in the reactor room and kill one of them with the propulsion cannon - the others will come for the body and be stuck in the trap, making picking them off much, much easier than it would be trying to find them all individually. You can just leave the trap behind. If you have the stasis gun, you can wait for them to stack up in the grav trap, stun them, then drop gas pods amidst the several bleeders and watch them get bodied.
- Gas pods 'o doom also work against leviathans. They work against EVERYTHING. You just need a lot of them, but getting a lot of them is really easy with the propulsion cannon (which can fire them too, by the way).
- Reefback barnacles are a good source of copper and silver, but beware the tiger plants on their backs. If you have a reinforced dive suit, tiger plants can't hurt you, but without one they're a pain. You can yeet them with the propulsion cannon. That trick works for drooping stingers too.
- Beacons everywhere. No seriously, everywhere. You'd be amazed how few people use them as much as they ought to be used.
- Eastern red grass plains has deep caves with a type of plant which can only be found in a few select spots on the map. Bulb Zone's lifepod has caves with some nearby and the Dunes also has some, but a Reaper is guarding them. If you do manage to find the spot though, it's GREAT for rubies!
- Scanner room cameras are a good way to keep track of nearby leviathans. They also force the terrain to load, which is required for the scanner room to actually pick things up. Stalkers will snag the cameras and move them around, but they're pretty useful for quickly getting the scanner room working right. The wildlife ignores the cameras too, so if you want a really nice picture of some creature you really hate getting close to, they're a great way to get it.
- Breed some stalkers, release them outside your base next to a pile of metal scrap and never worry about finding teeth for glass again. Barring that? Drop a random beacon in the kelp forest and wait for a stalker to collect it, follow it back to their stash and drop a grav trap.
- Light sticks can be good for wreck diving, as are flares. Flares provide much better lighting in large open spaces than the flashlight or seaglide. It makes them a good alternative to the flashlight in the early game.
DO NOT PARK YOUR SEAMOTH NEAR THE BEACHES. DO NOT PARK YOUR SEAMOTH NEAR THE BEACHES. DO NOT PARK YOUR SEAMOTH NEAR THE BEACHES.

2023.05.29 22:27 dingdong6699 AITA for breaking up with my girlfriend for eating a steak?
I broke up with my gf for eating a steak. Yep. What a cool reason to say you broke up right? Well.. there's some context to be had.
Long and no tl;dr because context important.
AITA.. let me preface this by saying if I'm AN a$$hole is not up for debate, as that's an overwhelming yes and always has been. I come with a warning label and am extremely transparent. Any relationship I've ever been in is extremely consensual in understanding and approving of this. It's a function, not a bug. I am not under the table manipulating, controlling, gaslighting. I am very straight forward about what I expect and you are free to choose if you consent and agree to terms or not.
I do work six days a week, thats less a choice than it is a necessity to get anywhere near the pay. Its not optional overtime ; it's this place pays twice as well as any competitor but the catch is you work six days.
More very necessary context: we were in a Mastesl*** kink relationship, which also included having a normal relationship , but important to note that's not only bedroom dominance but entire conscious dominance. The woman submits to the man and does as he pleases at all times. This includes cleaning the house in skimpy outfits, serving dinner, anything under the sun the Master asks for and the very agreed upon beforehand rules may never be broken. We enjoyed this dynamic with ups and downs for ten months. Also to add kink clubs and entertaining hooking up with other women. Very important aspect here.
She asks permission to go on a small family gathering. To me this would mean going to a family members house and chillin/hanging out and eating some burgers or gathering style food. To her, in this instance, it means going to a lake house with a small beach, it means spending half a day on a boat and/or jetskis and anything else someone has, and apparently can mean being served cowboy ribeyes! Holy shit, the difference is real. We are well aware of our upbringings being different. Mine poor, hers well off and constantly on vacations and seeing abroad. Her life is filled with being far away places (typically with exes who physically and sexually abused her), while mine is full of work and hustle to have the life I enjoy now. Do I enjoy working? Absolutely not - I want to enjoy life to the fullest, but its my responsibility as the man to be holding it down. I am very much not the freeloader who says working less is fine because someone else will pay. I say work more, earn more, and enjoy the things you can provide (not someone else).
So what does Master consider when she asks if she can go, and then a few days later asks if she can stay the night. I say yes, and we talk about two things : what she will wear on the beach to meet "Master's demands" (result: bikini with cover up when appropriate) and that she will tell me about any guys that appear at any point if they were invited by someone else maybe (she said this wouldn't be likely and it would be mostly women and their spouse). Alright. That was all good and we had no/minimal issues executing.
Problem comes when she sends a snap of a platter full of massive cowboy ribeyes. Not just steak. Cowboy. Ribeye. She doesn't even like fat. And this family is serving Cowboy Ribeye. Back story on the Cowboy ribeye. It's my favorite meal, my favorite treat. I moved into her house, her grill was busted and nasty, we haven't had opportunity to buy a new one yet. Buying a raw one for $30 is no problem. You can't get a cowboy ribeye cooked anywhere right now for less than $80. It's a waste of money, hence craving it for months but passing on it. She sends this pic and the annoyance of the "family gathering" including a lake house, a beach, bikinis, a boat, jetskis, and now...Cowboy Ribeye? Fuck off lol. To me it is absolutely disrespectful to continue on and there should be a guilt associated with proceeding so hard. I am not saying this because that's just what I expect of her - I myself- would never do this to the person I'm with - over indulge in fun things is one thing, but then to get presented with their favorite meal, that is extremely expensive, and not say "ok maybe I should skip this its a little ridiculous". Meanwhile I'm hard at work doing what I have to do. If there was an equivalent, I promise I wouldn't say "oh yo were going to get chuck e cheese pizza" knowing that's her favorite shit, but it's really not comparable in the situation compared to a (not reachable for most people) cowboy ribeye. It's just so obnoxious and disrespectful to me. The differences of our values and the level of spoiled she is was shining bright. And the fact she didn't have what I'd consider decency to pass on it in my absence is not something I want from a partner. I want experiences WITH my partner, not for her to be going all out without me. Have fun, do gatherings, go to the park, but maybe don't sky dive? Don't ride a submarine, eat precious meals, have extreme experiences without me.
There it is. The Mastesl situation explained and why the "steak" (it being cowboy ribeye is very important here... it could have been any other steak including a normal ribeye and wouldn't have been any issue) that shown a light on our differences resulted in break up.
Edited to add, it's pretty evident from early responses that people here aren't capable of looking through the scope of a Mastesub relationship and the importance of following the rules and respecting the Master in such relationships. It is what it is, and not for everyone. I don't need help , I'm perfectly fine. Also capable of not having this issue at all in the future. I'll still be an asshole though and get along just great in life.

2023.05.29 22:11 DruncanIdaho Recommendation requests for vegetarian cuisine, and drivable destinations (will have car)
Hi! I'm taking my wife to New Orleans for 3 days, road-tripping out of Houston. I've already been compiling a list of great recommendations from this sub (beignets, cajun food, shopping areas, etc) but if anybody has specific recommendations for vegetarian food and drivable destinations they'd be much appreciated!
Staying near Frenchman and Royal.
Veggie Food: I'm an omnivore, wife eats no meat but big yes on eggs and dairy. She doesn't have a hard time finding an item or two on any menu (even bar food), so I'm not necessarily looking for vegetarian restaurants (which are easy to google), but rather great places with vegetarian options (even if it's a small part of the menu). She loves breakfast foods, so big bonus points for great breakfast restaurants, and for bars with an awesome vegetarian dish or two on the menu.
Drivable destinations? We'll of course spend most of our time walking/trolleying, but since I'll have my vehicle with us (already secured safe parking) and we have a full 3 days, I'm also open to anything that might be drivable! We love cultural history, unique shops and restaurants, really anything. I'll be perfectly happy if my vehicle stays in its garage the entire time we're in NOLA, but figured I'd ask anyway if you might have a favorite day trip or outside-the-city point of interest.
I've already googled up some options for our usual activities (antique/curio shops, local history, used book stores, great happy hour deals) but if you've got any personal favorites I'd love to hear those too.
Thanks y'all!

2023.05.29 21:54 kimicky Where to find free MM romance books
Free books
This is for the book hoarders, the people who are tight on money, and those who can't function when their TBR doesn't contain at least 1000 books.
Some books are permanently free (check out
this post as well), and some are only free for a limited amount of time. New books are added to either category every day. Since it's impossible to make a full list that remains up to date, here you will find links to places to find free books, that will update whenever you click the link or refresh the page.
As some book prices are regional, I have added links for several regions for certain stores. If you're not in that region or unable to obtain the book from that link, try the local version of that website if it exists.
Smashwords MM romance Queer romance MM erotica FF erotica Kobo Kobo's free content is almost identical across regions. Simply select your own country in the menu at the top of the screen to access a search or book page on your own region's website.
Amazon Amazon is a dick and doesn't have consistent categories across their stores... Amazon's free content is also very dependent on your region.
JMS Books Unfortunately, the filtering options on the JMS Books website are very limited. However, since they exclusively publish queer books, you might still find what you're looking for on their
free books page.
Author newsletters Many authors provide freebies to newsletter subscribers. You can usually find this information on their website. Since there are a gazillion authors out there (yay!), I'm not going to list any here. Just don't forget to check your favorite authors' websites for free books and bonus content!
Please let your fellow readers know where else they can expand their hoard for free! Just remember that
discussion of book piracy is not permitted in this sub!

2023.05.29 21:52 Direct-Caterpillar77 I (M24) found out my girlfriend (20F) is homeless
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/Whole-Balance-4311 I (M24) found out my girlfriend (20F) is homeless Originally posted to relationship_advice Original Post recovered with rareddit Apr 17, 2021 TL;DR: Saw my girlfriend standing outside of a homeless shelter in a food-line. We've been dating for a couple months and I want to offer her to stay at my apartment, but I don't want to completely dominate the power balance in our relationship or make her feel like she owes me.
Yesterday morning, I went to go out for a walk around the city and noticed a girl that looked familiar standing in a line at a homeless shelter. I took a double glance and saw a hoodie that was mine and then recognized my girlfriend, "Kat." I was pretty shocked by seeing her there, but didn't approach her because I didn't want to embarrass her or anything.
So for background info, I met Kat in February at a Dunkin's. I started making small talk with with her when I saw we were both wearing the same Dodgers hat. I offered to pay for her drink after shooting the shit for a minute in line and got to know her when she asked if I wanted to sit down with her. As we were finishing up our drink, I asked her out on a date and she accepted.
As the last couple of months went by, things were going great with us. I learned that she was working two jobs, wanted to go to college, was a devout Catholic (She invited me to attend mass; I'm not Catholic, but went out of respect), yet I noticed that she never brought up her family accept when she mentioned her dad who was a Marine that passed away when she was a kid.
Fast forward to the present, and I ended up sending a good morning text inside the Dunkin's as I was looking to see if it was really her. Like clockwork, she pulled out her phone and told me that she was at her "apartment" and that she was "cooking breakfast." It was really surprising for me because I always dropped her off at a nice apartment building whenever a date was over, but I guess she did that to give off the appearance that she wasn't homeless?
Now, I want to talk to Kat about her situation. She's kind of a social introvert to put it lightly. If she truly is homeless, I want to offer Kat to stay at my place. The only problem is that I don't want to come off like she "owes" me or anything like that. I also want to respect her Catholic faith because she told me that she wants to wait to give up her virginity after I originally invited her over to my place before I knew she was homeless (The Catholics aren't fond of unmarried cohabitation either). Thoughts on how I can navigate this?
Edit: I forgot to mention that Kat has an older sedan. I know that I'm making a lot of assumptions, but I'm guessing that she lives inside her car because she doesn't carry a backpack around her all the time and she wears a nice dress and flats when she goes to mass. The other clothing she wears is sorta just casual. Think your typical Converse, skinny jeans, and overcoat. Nothing too fancy or too dingy.
RELEVANT COMMENTS Puzzleheaded-Hurry26
I feel like a lot of these comments and suggestions are missing step 1: talk to Kat. If you want to continue having a relationship with her, you have to be able to have open and honest conversations, even about hard things. Don’t make it accusatory. Just be very straightforward, but also open and sympathetic: “When I was at Dunkin’ the other day, I saw you in the food line across the street. Is everything ok? I’m worried, and I want to know if/how I can help.” All of this should be underscored with the message that you care about her, wholeheartedly. This is not coming from a place of pity. This is coming from a place of concern for someone that you care deeply about.

People who are homeless often aren't homeless all the time. They may have temporary housing of some sorts with family or friends, but other nights they may be out in their cars, streets, or shelters. Also not uncommon to go to shelters just to get a meal. The homeless shelter in my city does lunch every day and anyone can go and get lunch, no questions asked. Doesn't matter if you are sleeping on the street or in the nearby apartments.
(The Catholics aren't fond of unmarried cohabitation either).
lol us Catholics can be very flexible on our ideology especially when it comes to how it governs us.
Anyway, I think you just need to talk to Kat, mention you saw her, and that you'd like to help. I wouldn't offer any specific kind of help, let her tell you what she needs. One day she may need money, another clothing, and another just some gas in the car to make it to a friend or family's place. And then the ball is in your court if you want to offer that type of help or support or not.

I used to be homeless (5 years) and dated two women in that time that let me live in their home. The power dynamic was not the issue. If the relationship has good communication and you both are aware of it, it doesn't have to be a problem. The real problem came when the relationship started nearing its natural end. Suddenly, I wasn't just losing a girlfriend. I was losing a home, a bathroom, a kitchen, a bed, AND a partner. It made me work extra hard to save the relationship when I would have otherwise let it go a long time ago. That made for months of unnecessary suffering for both of us. It created a codependent dynamic and made the final breakup WAY harder than it needed to be. Now that I have my own place, I don't have those issues. Something to consider.
Update recovered with rareddit Apr 17, 2021 So for starters, I wanted to thank the people on the sub for hitting me up with some good advice on both sides, but I want to especially thank
u/Puzzleheaded-Hurry26, u/notthegoatseguy, and, u/PaticusGnome
I ended up meeting Kat at the local park we usually walk through after she got off work earlier today since it's out in the open, yet still private enough to have a serious conversation. I told Kat that I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable or ashamed, but that I saw her at a line at a homeless shelter yesterday and wanted to talk to her if there was anything up or if she needed help. Kat immediately began to cry and showed her nervous tics (fidgeting around, wrinkling her nose, etc.). She began stuttering on her words and I consoled her until she began to gather herself again. I told Kat that she didn't have to feel like she had to hide anything from me, and she began to open up about everything.
Kat told me that she had been homeless for over a year. She grew up in a broken home after her dad passed away in Iraq when she was a kid back in 2006. Her mother fell into alcoholism and had pretty much blown whatever savings she had from the death gratuity she received and basically lived paycheck to paycheck. Despite this, her faith with the Church was the only real thing that gave her stability and hope to carry on with her daily life.
At 18, she joined the Marines because she wanted to honor her father and escape the life she had grown up with. Although, she ended up getting ELSed (Entry-level Separation), and was chaptered out of the USMC due to her developing asthma while in Basic. She ended up moving to our current city on the East Coast because she didn't want to return to California where her mother was. Kat ended up barely scraping by to where she saved up to buy her older car to sleep in away from the shelters around December of last year. Kat ended up sharing to me that she was on the verge of suicide around the time I met her and wanted to play up like she didn't have "baggage" and elaborated on how she didn't want to scare me off by admitting she was homeless. So she had me drop her off at the one apartment building and split the tab of our dates to appear like everything was normal.
Truthfully, I felt gutted hearing her story. I had a feeling that things were probably bad for her, but I didn't think it was that bad. Kat showed me her DD-214 (I'm currently an E-5 in the Army Reserve so I knew that her story was verifiable) as well as the pictures she had of her past. I told her that I wanted to help her out in anyway and that I was open to having her move to my place with the added kicker that we could go to Ikea to get her a bedset to make my living room into her living space since I wanted to respect her physical boundaries that was in place from her Catholic faith. Kat was very hesitant because of her pride and she didn't want to come off like she was accepting a handout due to pity, but I reassured her that it wasn't with a handout or come with a catch. I told Kat that I loved her (first time I said that) and wanted to help her feel secure. She looked at me with a sort of disbelief and asked me if I really meant it, and I did. Kat reciprocated by saying that she loved me to and accepted. As far as the conditions go, I told her to meet me at 30% of the rent and to put whatever money she had into starting summer classes at the local community college and that she could stay with me for as long as she wanted if she felt comfortable with pre-marital cohabitition.
A last thanks for the advice on everything! Our convo was a long one and took a lot emotionally from Kat so she is currently crashing at my couch until she wakes up so we can get her bed at Ikea later tonight. Once again thank you for giving advice as it really allowed me to vent on what was going on.

I went to the garage after getting ready for my date. I saw that Marlik had arrived.
“Hello beautiful you ready”
“Yes Marlik” my tail was wagging. I entered the car and he started to drive. I looked at him and his black fur which was normal so unkempt was smooth and soft as ever.
“You freshened up for me dear?” I watched as his cheeks started to bloom.
“Yes I did, I picked this nice restaurant I heard about apparently they serve some decent food” he turned the car down the city street.
“Here’s the place” he parked the car and we both got out. He opened the door.
“After you” he motioned his tail towards the entrance. I entered the building and we were greeted by a Tillfish.
“Hello welcome to the Div Diner table for two?” Me and Marlik gave an affirmative tail movement and the Tillfish led us to a booth.
We sat down and a Harchen waiter came over and gave us the menus.
“Hello I’m Silan I’ll be taking your orders this paw” I looked at her and I realized something. It was my daughters friend.
“Oh hey Silan it’s me Lani Vilas mom, how are you?” I noticed Silan was a bit surprised. Her tail drooped a bit.
“Oh hello Ms Lani I’m doing well now what would you two like to order?” Me and Marlik looked at the menu.
“I’ll have the strayu deluxe with a sweet soda” Marlik pointed at the menu. Silan than looked over to me.
“I’ll have a cifa berry bowl with some water and a side of Jefonta crisps” Silan took the menus and headed to the kitchen where they were making the food. I looked over to Marlik, his black wool was glistening in the light.
“So Lani how’s Your new son been doing?” I thought for a moment. Chris had gotten quick to making new friends in the days he had been at school, he already had two!
“Pretty well, apparently his grades are good and he’s been getting stuff done on time” Marlik swayed his dark fluffy tail.
“That’s wonderful you know I was worried on how a human would do in the school. How did his first day go?” I remember how after Chris got home after dropping Aioni at her house how he told me someone had pulled the fire alarm because of him.
“Pretty well all things considered he did pretty well, although there was a stampede caused in the morning when he got there” Marlik gave me a worried look his tail pointed down.
“I’ve heard from his ecology teacher that the other students have been bothered by him just explaining away at things without thinking what he will say” I know that’s something that Chris can’t really control but he can work on it. I just don’t want someone to panic and hurt him.
“Well hopefully they can understand his situation” Marlik looked at me with hopeful eyes.
Silan came back with our drinks.
“One water and one sweet soda” she put the drinks on the table and added a couple straws to them. I grabbed my water and took a sip.
“The food will be out shortly” Silan than walked away from our table.
I decided to change the subject to something more happy and calm.
“So Marlik how have the flowers been going?” Marlik took a drink of his sweet soda
“They have been wonderful although some of Filondas have been dying recently and I don’t know why” that’s odd Marlik is the best guy I know to be able to help flowers.
“Well maybe I could come take a look at them some time?” I leaned over and started wrap my tail around his. He tightened the grip on my tail with his.
“I’d be up for a watering session” he put his paw onto mine.
“Alright here’s your food” we both looked over to Silan who had our food. She set it down on the table and we both grabbed what was ours.
I took a bite into the cifa berries. They were delicious and juicy. I grabbed a jefonta crisp and took a bit, the sweet but salty crunch was so good.
Marlik took a chunk of the strayu into his mouth and was enjoying it like it was the first time.
“Marlik this place is wonderful, the drinks are amazing and the food is fantastic!” My tail was wagging back and forth rapidly.
We kept eating our food and talked about a lot things like the flowers and plants when Marlik stopped.
“Hey Lani I was thinking for a long time and I finally decided to ask you something” I looked at him confused, my tail bent in a questioning manner.
He pulled out these two wonderful looking flower rings… wait was he going to?
“Lani will you marry me?” I started to bloom so much and my tail was wagging all over the place.
“OH YES MARLIK I WILL!” I ran up and hugged him while intertwining our tails. He put the flower ring on one of my claws.
The entire diner was cheering for us.
We soon finished our dinner and paid. We then exited and got into the car.
“You make me the happiest girl in the whole galaxy Marlik” Marlik started the car and started driving back to my place.
We entered my house when Chris exited his room.
“Oh Lani your back… what’s the ring for?” He pointed at the flower ring on my claw.
“Marlik asked to marry and I said yes!” Both our tails were intertwined tightly.
Vila saw what was happening and got up from the couch.
“Wait mom your getting married?” I nodded and me and Marlik headed towards the kitchen. I poured some drinks and we went to the den to watch some tv.
“So what should we do together dear?” Marlik looked at me with a happy face.
“Maybe we’ll do something while the kids are at school” I nuzzled my face against his and we continued to watch the tv.
“Hey Lani I’m heading to sleep good night” Chris headed back into his room to go sleep.
This paw was wonderful

2023.05.29 19:48 thesdo How is it possible for the recent Android Auto "coolwalk" / Waze updates even make it out of Google's software testing process and into release?
After having my own issues with the recent updates, I started looking to see if others have as well. Just a scan of this sub and other places clearly shows that there are major functionality issues with this release. I'm not sure if it's Android Auto, Waze, or a combination of both, but either way they're both Google products and it's absurd that these bugs made it out into production code.
GPS issues, lag, being told I can't enter an address while driving even though I'm literally in park, stupid UI changes (who's the genius who though "other side" was the best first option for reporting police), etc.
I'm sorry, but whomever has the responsibility for software quality assurance for Android Auto and/or Waze should be fired. I don't use that word lightly, but this level of incompetence is quite astounding.
To people who use Waze on Android Auto, some of these bugs were downright dangerous.

2023.05.29 18:41 earththejerry Streaming is ultimately more important than theatrical box office
I feel like people are just skipping over the entire analysis and thinking I’m saying !!!!!no more theatrical releases, everything to streaming!!!!! I AM NOT, I’m making the case that media companies need to develop streaming because subscription revenue is the only thing that can remotely come close to replacing the collapsing pay TV hole, which makes up the vast majority of their revenue pre and post-pandemic, which is why they had their streaming strategies in the first place. Theatrical box office is too turbulent, comparatively small, and slow-growth for it to be the sole revenue earner And yes, streaming is losing money now, and will likely never be as lucrative as the money from $130/month cable bills that Disney and NBCUniversal extract, but pay TV isn’t coming back and that’s why these companies need streaming on top of theatrical releases to save their business models, doesn’t mean they will succeed, but this post is an window into why they’re doing it I see a lot of posters here criticizing Disney’s, and other studios’, streaming strategies as short-sighted and stupid, and a net negative for them in the long-run, from too many projects diluting franchises to making people less likely to go to theaters. Many studios have also recalibrated from their initial streaming wars ethos (like Warner’s HBO Max same day move to tweaking with the release window) and have recommited to theaters. However, here’s a few points on why ultimately, streaming is much more important for the studios:
As we all know, the major studios are owned by giant conglomerates on top, Disney, Comcast, Warner Discovery, Sony, Paramount Global etc. And sifting through their annual reports, you’ll see that their film studio division, which often already includes non-theatrical businesses like TV production and licensing, is a small, albiet famous, part of their business
At its 2019 peak, Disney’s global theatrical revenue still “only” made up 6% of its annual revenue, while the entire studios division was at 16%, dwarfed by its Media Networks (ESPN, ABC etc,) division. Universal’s entire studio division made up 8% of Comcast’s revenue (its cable, Sky, and NBCU network businesses took the bulk), Warner Bros. (including gaming, licensing and TV production etc.) took up 30% of Warner Discovery’s revenue, the rest are from the CNN, Turner, and Discovery cable networks, and Paramount’s film business only made up 10% of Paramount Global’s revenue, the rest are from CBS, MTV, BET, and whole bunch of international networks no Americans care about
The fact is, theatrical releases have cultural heft, and provide top content and IP for a conglomerate’s TV, licensing, and theme park divisions, but the future of these companies absolutely rely on their TV networks, and by extension, the streaming model that they hope can replace their TV networks
ESPN, at the height of the cable bundle, brought in close to $9 billion a year for Disney on retransmission fees from pay TV providers alone, and that’s not counting ads revenue. The collapse of the pay TV bundle is on top of Disney’s mind, as well as Wall Street’s. Streaming was seen as the savior but the fragmented and loss-making nature of the market simply does not allow for these services to make up for the pay TV losses
Look also at Paramount in 2022, one of its most successful year, from absolute blockbuster Top Gun 2 to smaller hits like Sonic 2, Smile, Scream etc. Yet its stock declined more than other media companies all while media stocks are already downtrodden, it’s now below $10B in market cap while its predecessors Viacom and CBS were worth $35B pre-merger, despite big movies like Mission Impossible coming up.
Small studios like Lionsgate, even at its box office height, also never overtook these media companies in market cap, because no matter how successful Hunger Games and Twilight were, the up and down nature of the movie business is simply no substitute for the stable pay TV money, which Lionsgate didn’t own, and it would be impossible to scale to Disney or Comcast’s heights with box office revenue alone. Same goes for Chinese film studios like China Film Group or Bona, they have giant hits year after year, yet market cap wise are dwarfed by American media conglomerates
Theatrical revenue also won’t grow much, not even because of COVID, but simply because the media industry is so much more complex and entertainment options from shortform video to gaming are so much more varied in this day and age, even China’s theatrical market is seeing slow growth.
As mentioned above, movies are important to these companies and provide cultural significance and IP for the rest of their empires, but figuring out, successfully or unsuccessfully, how streaming can make up for the pay TV collapse is actual life-or-death scenarios of these media conglomerates
Again, this isn’t an endorsement of the execution of their streaming strategies or a putdown of theatrical windows, but rather to provide some context on why so many studios rushed into streaming and continues to put significance behind their strategies. Obviously a sub called boxoffice will focus on the box office, but some recent discourse seems to waaaay overvalue the importance of box office to studios’ parent company’s parent company

I tried MessageEase, and Thumbkey, 8vim, keyboardmaker, and while creative, they're not nintype.
So I'm back, and this time I'm going to take a step.
Decompiling - background
Android apps are usually written in java or kotlin, and are compiled to bytecode that is ran on a virtual machine.
This method makes apps very easy to disassemble - turning the app from one complete part into the basic componenets that make it, including readable code.
The bytecode retains a lot of the information of the individual program, so you can see what it does, how it does it and even modify it.
Programming knowledge is required, of course, but unless the app added a protection layer, it's really not that hard.
Is it legal?
I'm not a lawyer
Is it ethical?
It's a free app that the creator abandoned for years.
That's the only way we can fix and improve on it.
Make your own moral choice.
The bad news
IMPORTANT
Nintype is not a regular android app. It is comprised of two parts - the java layer to interact with the android system, display the keyboard, forward inputs, etc, and a native library based on opengl.
Native libraries for android are written in c++, and can be used to pass over the java layer, and interact more closely with the OS. This is useful for performance or for creating a custom graphical engine, and nintype does both.
Unlike java bytecode, native libraries are compiled to pure machine code.
Inspecting it, traversing through it and god forbid modiying it is a much much tougher endeavor.
This means that a lot of features will be unavailable to tweak, change or even inspect without a lot of work and effort. I'm writing it up-front so you won't get your hopes up.
Now let's talk about what we can do.
Let's get down to buisness
What do you need?
Programming knowledge
Sorry, if you don't know what github is, this isn't the guide for you.
Feel free to skip to the apk download at the end.
I will try to help if people try anyway, but I'm not here to tutor on cs101.
Tools
If you are familiar with these tools you might have different choices or workflow, you are welcome to share.
Starting out
Open APK Tool GUI:
https://preview.redd.it/p6eq7glo881b1.png?width=589&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=b2dbe00a1f2e392a6f6fecdf1cfc7458fcd2e3b9 In the first box put in your apk, and press decompile.
You now should now have a folder with the name of your apk (Keyboard 69_69.0007_apkcombo.com)
https://preview.redd.it/bv1d2heq881b1.png?width=505&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=8324a85a28151c6e9947cb0da93350c8c1f20ec0 This is the app, disassembled.
To assemble it back, press "Compile" in APK Tool GUI.
If it doesn't regcognize the directory, put it in manually in the second box.
Decompiling
Next, we'd want to have a version with code we can open in android studio.
Open jadx and open your apk file there.
You can already see the decompiled code, and for small changes you might not even need anything more.
But since I don't like editing smali manually, I did this:
Press Ctrl+E Or file➝save as gradle project
Save it in a new directory and you can open it with android studio.
Yay!
Now I wish it would just decompile perfectly, since then it would be much much easier to make adjumensts and even upgrade the package. But it doesn't, and I didn't need to spend time on that.
If anybody wants they're welcome.
Tweak 0 - Renaming the app
Now the first thing you'd want to do is to rename the app and package, so it won't clash with your existing nintype installation.
Just open the disassembled folder from earlier (from apk tool gui, not from jadx), and edit AndroidManifest.xml.
change "package" and "android:label" to something else:
https://preview.redd.it/uekwen2t881b1.png?width=1253&format=png&auto=webp&v=enabled&s=a992d54be000b69f389d38f66c37a46cb8f410eb Now you can press compile on apk tool gui, if you've set up debugging you can also transfer and install the app in the adb tap, or configure it automatically in the signing tab, or you can just transfer the apk to the device however you like and install it there.
It will warn you that the app is dangerous.
You can expand the menu and press install anyway.
Of course, everything in this guide is at your own risk.
Tweak 1 - Fixing the goddamn enter key
If you have used nintype for a while, you'd know the enter key doesn't support different forms.
In some apps, instead of doing a "send" or "go" or "ok" action, it will do nothing.
This has bothered me to no end. Luckily, it's an easy fix.
So I searched for what could be considered pressing the enter key.
I tried "\n", which is the newline character, and got lucky.
This is the code:
if (theop.type == 's') { if (theop.strarg.equals("\n")) { keyDownUp(ic, 66); }
In
SoftKeyboard.java And as I suspected, it always sends a direct enter key and does not consider the context.
Doing some research, this was the fix:
if (theop.type == 's') { if (theop.strarg.equals("\n")) { int action = IME_ACTION_NONE; if ((globalsoftkeyboard.getCurrentInputEditorInfo().imeOptions & IME_FLAG_NO_ENTER_ACTION) == 0) { action = (globalsoftkeyboard.getCurrentInputEditorInfo().imeOptions & IME_MASK_ACTION); } if (action != IME_ACTION_NONE) { ic.performEditorAction(action); } else { keyDownUp(ic, 66); } }
Just checking for a flag and sending the right command.
Now this change you do in android studio in the gradle project you created from jadx.
Now build the project, and you should have this file in your system:
\app\build\intermediates\project_dex_archive\debug\out\com\jormy\nin\SoftKeyboard.dex
Tweaking
This is the compiled class.
Now drag it to jadx, press "smali" at the button to get the machine code.
Now you will have the edited smali file of SoftKeyboard on the screen.
Open the original smali file from your decompiled folder - \smali\com\jormy\nin\SoftKeyboard.smali
Place a backup of it somewhere safe outside of the project,
and replace its contents with the contents from jadx.
Now press compile again, install the apk, and viola - the enter key works.
Tweak 2 - Fixing the hebrew layout
Now this turned out to be much easier than I expected.
The hebrew layout in nintype is annoying because the backspace is on the top for no reason and you have readjust every time you switch.
No more!
Layout files are really easy in nintype
They are under the "assets" folder, and end with "emkeylayout".
Don't let the extension fool you - they are normal text files.
Here, for example, is the Hebrew layout:
renderchars row: :dontsplit "leftcursorer" nobacker altpic "small24_dragindi.png" one @ 27 namify one two @ 26 namify two three @ 27 namify choicer "rightcursorer" nobacker altpic "keyboard_dragright.png" row: !u1511 >> userenderer !u1512 >> userenderer !u1488 >> userenderer !u1496 >> userenderer !u1493 >> userenderer !u1503 >> userenderer !u1501 >> userenderer !u1508 >> userenderer "<" @ 10 namify backspace cannoborder altpic "keyboard_backspace.png" row: !u1513 >> userenderer !u1491 >> userenderer !u1490 >> userenderer !u1499 >> userenderer !u1506 >> userenderer !u1497 >> userenderer !u1495 >> userenderer !u1500 >> userenderer !u1498 >> userenderer !u1507 >> userenderer row: !u1494 >> userenderer !u1505 >> userenderer !u1489 >> userenderer !u1492 >> userenderer !u1504 >> userenderer !u1502 >> userenderer !u1510 >> userenderer !u1514 >> userenderer !u1509 >> userenderer row: "123" @ 15 summon num altpic "keyboard_123.png" ' @ 10 namify langer ' @ 50 namify space "maindot" @ 10 namify maindot cannoborder "ret" @ 15 namify ret altpic "keyboard_enter.png"
It's YAML or a YAML-like language that describes the keys row-by-row.
Each row is an array of keys, and each key is that key's function, then >>, and then additional settings.
You can also open qwerty.emkeylayout since it's simpler.
Here you don't even need to compile or mess with jadx or android studio.
Since it's an asset, you can just edit directly in the apk tool disassembled dir (after backing it up of course)
Here is my new hebrew layout:
renderchars row: :dontsplit "leftcursorer" nobacker altpic "small24_dragindi.png" one @ 27 namify one two @ 26 namify two three @ 27 namify choicer "rightcursorer" nobacker altpic "keyboard_dragright.png" row: '/ >> '' >> nobacker isapostrophe !u1511 >> userenderer !u1512 >> userenderer !u1488 >> userenderer !u1496 >> userenderer !u1493 >> userenderer !u1503 >> userenderer !u1501 >> userenderer !u1508 >> userenderer row: !u1513 >> userenderer !u1491 >> userenderer !u1490 >> userenderer !u1499 >> userenderer !u1506 >> userenderer !u1497 >> userenderer !u1495 >> userenderer !u1500 >> userenderer !u1498 >> userenderer !u1507 >> userenderer row: !u1494 >> userenderer !u1505 >> userenderer !u1489 >> userenderer !u1492 >> userenderer !u1504 >> userenderer !u1502 >> userenderer !u1510 >> userenderer !u1514 >> userenderer !u1509 >> userenderer "<" @ 10 namify backspace cannoborder altpic "keyboard_backspace.png" row: "123" @ 15 summon num altpic "keyboard_123.png" ' @ 10 namify langer ' @ 50 namify space "maindot" @ 10 namify maindot cannoborder "ret" @ 15 namify ret altpic "keyboard_enter.png"
Which moves the backspace to the bottom row, and adds an ' and a / like a real hebrew keyboard.
Compile, install and it works.
I'm very excited to see what layouts people will come up with.
Tweak 3 - correct keyboard for function (failed)
Other keyboards have the ability to adapt to the input field, if you need a number it will open the numpad etc.
I wanted to add it to swiftkey, which currently only does it with passwords and urls.
The code is in SoftKeyboard.java (after I subbed the constants):
switch (attribute.inputType & TYPE_MASK_CLASS) { case TYPE_CLASS_TEXT: int variation = attribute.inputType & TYPE_MASK_VARIATION; typemode = "uri"; if (variation == TYPE_TEXT_VARIATION_PASSWORD) { typemode = "passwd"; } if ((attribute.inputType & TYPE_TEXT_FLAG_AUTO_COMPLETE) != 0) { } break; } TextboxEvent inf = new TextboxEvent(TextboxEventType.APPFIELDCHANGE, attribute.packageName, attribute.fieldName, typemode);
Sadly, this is as far as I can go.
This code calls directly to the native library, which is hardcoded to accept only "uri" and "password" as the special types. So unless someone has a clever way for this, it's a dead end.
TL;DR - or "just give me the APK already"
I hope this means other people will pick this up and maybe try to revive the keyboard somehow.
The next step is probably full re-compilation, then tackling the lib.
If you don't want to do it yourself, you can download the apk I made.
It has both tweaks (enter key fix and hebrew keyboard layout), and I might add more later (you are welcome to suggest but don't expect anything).
Download - MEGA
When you'll install it it will warn you that it's unsafe. They're right.
I can promise you that the only changes I did are what I described here, but I'm just an internet rando.
If you really want to be sure - do it yourself.

2023.05.29 17:58 TallLab1036 An in depth profile of myself.
Hello hello. I hope you enjoy this
short introduction of myself.
Some have asked why I've come here to seek this, and really, why are any of us here? We're searching for something that we can't find elsewhere so we've decided to give this a shot.
I've tried other sites without luck and dating is difficult in my area. By that I mean everyone is super country, as in enjoying fishing and listening to country music while complaining about liberals. Or, to phrase it another way - guns, God and Trump. That's a hard pass for me, so this seems like the next step.
A couple of things before I start:
Distance isn't an issue for me. I'm hoping to meet someone and chat to see where things lead, if there's a connection of any sort. If there is, we can move from there. Distance is a relatively small issue if you can find someone who is truly perfect for you, after all.
I should also mention that, for the most part, age isn't an issue. To some extent it will be of course, but I don't mind a bit of an age gap in either direction at all. If it's an issue for you, that's understandable; however, if you think it will be for me, well the only way to really find out is to message me, now isn't it?
I'm open to anyone who sees this and is interested (including those of any experience level) as I don't want to limit myself when I could possibly find chemistry with someone.
Also, while I am in general an emotionally intelligent, nurturing and supportive person, I'm also a massive sadist. To be more specific, I enjoy psychological sadism (although physical sadism is definitely fun too) and that is reflected in my kinks and, to some extent, my personality. While I believe boundaries and limits are to be respected at all times, and I don't enjoy anything if my partner doesn't, I absolutely love teasing, tormenting and torturing my partner in both play and everyday life.
Prepare for a mountain of text! It's a bit long, but I assure you it's worth the read. I decided that since I'm putting myself out there with a post, I want to truly and fully put myself out there and represent myself. I'm hoping that those reading this will recognize the effort that was put into this and get a good feel for who I am as a person. If you feel it's too much, save it for later, skim or even just message me if you would rather get to know me more naturally.
My post is cobbled together from thoughts, beliefs and realizations that I have come upon in my years in the lifestyle (which is why you might see slightly different styles of writing in different parts, this post is taken from my kink profiles and are the sum result of over ten years of experience that I find I still add to every now and then. I try to edit and organize it a bit from time to time, but it's difficult due to the fact that there's so much that I wish to include.)
Long story short, I can be a bit...rambly, sometimes. So apologies in advance for that, although I have recently made great strides in editing my post. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.
While it's certainly a lengthy read, it's not nearly as bad as it seems. I recommend reading the whole thing (obviously since I wrote it), especially if you're interested in getting to know a kinky, geeky and empathetic person.
Now that I've covered that, it's time to get to the part you've been waiting for.
About me:
I decided to put this part first because I believe that, above all else, the people involved should connect on a personal level and "click", if you will. This tells about who I am and my hobbies and such. If someone can't accept this part of me, how could we possibly get along?
I'm a lighthearted, playful and fairly laid back, yet somewhat serious minded, person who's rather upbeat and probably too curious for his own good. I'm also kind, caring, friendly, sometimes cynical and often sarcastic (although in a lighthearted manner, and never at the expense of others.) There's nothing I love to do more than laugh; I love most things involving humor, although I do believe there's a very fine line between hilarity and stupidity.
Now, for some little bits of trivia about me:
- According to the Myers-Briggs system, I'm an INFP. Online tests can give you an idea of where to start, but they're not that reliable and the results can change depending on your mood that day. To truly discover your type requires self-reflection to learn about your cognitive functions, and while doing so I learned a lot about myself. I don't follow it religiously, but I believe there are some elements of truth to it.
- I'm definitely a Type B Personality.
- I'm a hopeless romantic, an old soul who's young at heart, a cynical optimist and a realistic dreamer.
- I'm definitely that type that believes in better safe than sorry, and one of my mottos is "Hope for the best, prepare for the worst." I also tend to do copious amounts of research before any big decision.
- I consider myself to be a very grounded, down to earth and genuine person.
- I'm extremely friendly and believe in treating others with the same respect that you would like to receive and generally try to do what I feel is "right" by others (more on that in a bit.)
- I like to believe in the best of human nature, although I seem to be let down a fair bit. Even so, I don't want to let that stop me.
- I have very strong values and ideals, and an even stronger moral compass.
- I believe people are free to do and believe what they want, so long as they don't harm themselves, harm, cause trouble for or inconvenience others, or attempt to force those beliefs on others.
- I believe that a life lived for others is the only life worth living.
- I believe that there's no point in worrying about things that you can't change. If you let yourself get dragged down by it and obsess over it, you'll find yourself crushed under the weight of all the injustices in the world.
- I've been told (rather often actually) that I have a very nice voice, frequently being told that I should go into radio or be an announcer of some kind. I'm very expressive and my voice reflects that, having lots of highs and lows. Truthfully, I believe it's one of my better features.
- I much prefer talking to typing in general, especially when first getting to know someone as you get a much better idea of their personality. Also, I feel like I come across kind of...stiff in my writing style when that's very much not me, so voice allows me to showcase my truest self.
- I tend to be a confidant of sorts; due to my open and genuine nature and what I've been told is a welcoming...aura, I suppose, people tend to find me easy to talk to and trust, coming to me to confide things and seek out advice. This is something that brings me great happiness and pride as having the trust of others is important to me.
- Promises are very important to me; once I give my word in regards to something I'll keep it, even if I don't particularly want to. As cheesy as it might sound, to me my word is my bond.
- Admittedly, subtlety is not one of my strong points. I'm a very open, upfront and honest person. I'm terrible at lying (I hate doing it and I just give away that I am) and can't keep a straight face to save my life. If I were an actor, I would probably be Jimmy Fallon.
- I welcome people to give me constructive criticism and feedback as I'm constantly looking to improve myself. Yes, that even includes those that message me saying my post is far too long.
- I can't fake a smile to save my life, it has to be genuine for me. One of the many reasons I hate having photos taken of me.
- I find intelligence, humor and kindness to be the most desirable traits in a partner (although being easy on the eyes doesn't hurt.)
- My senses are all very sensitive, and can sometimes overwhelm me when I'm introduced to new stimuli.
- I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to too. Wait, I'm just kidding, just wanted to throw a little Mitch Hedberg in here. I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. While I have no issue with those who drink, I do tend to avoid smokers and hardcore drug users.
- Despite what the length of my post may say about me, I absolutely hate writing.
- I enjoy visiting places but hate the actual traveling (which is one of the reasons why if I could have one power it would be teleportation [actually if I could have one power it would be the ability to manipulate space and time, however for simplicity's sake I'm just going to say teleportation for now {not Star Trek teleportation though, fuck that.}])
- I hate waiting and I hate making others wait.
- I love the symbolism of trees and what they represent: strength, vitality, protection.
- If I had to rank the seven deadly sins in the order that I'm guilty of from most to least, it would go: Gluttony, Pride, Sloth, Lust, Envy, Greed and Wrath.
- If I were to list the Magic the Gathering colors that I most identify with from most to least, it would go: White, Blue, Green, Red and then Black.
- Growing up I was all about DBZ, Dinosaurs, Gargoyles, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Pokémon, Power Rangers, Spider-Man & X-Men.
- I absolutely love animals and have two cats of my own, Ivy and Jasmine (there are wonderful stories behind both names), that I love to death. I probably talk to them like people a bit too much.
- I spend far more time living in my head than I should.
- I firmly believe that breakfast offers the best food. I could eat waffles everyday.
- I call Gatorade by their flavors as opposed to their colors.
- I absolutely love when I'm thirsty and soda burns my throat.
- You won't catch me running unless something is chasing me. Partially because I have asthma, but mostly because running is awful.
Over the past several years I've come to appreciate music a lot more than I used to (before it was simply used as background noise as I can't stand silence) and have discovered that I'm a fan of alt-metal, heavy metal and hard rock more than anything else.
Some bands I enjoy include:
Adelitas Way, Amaranthe, Breaking Benjamin, Disturbed, Evans Blue, Five Finger Death Punch, Gemini Syndrome, Otherwise, Pop Evil, Sevendust, Shinedown, Shaman's Harvest, State of Mine, Theory of a Deadman, Three Days Grace (before Adam Gontier left)
I enjoy other types of music as well, for example another band I like is Bowling for Soup as I love their sense of humor; it's great to see people not taking music so seriously. I'm also a fan of big band music, which I actually have Fallout 3 to thank for. I enjoy classical musical as well and, despite having no real knowledge of it and most of it sounding the same, I find it incredibly relaxing and peaceful.
While I enjoy relaxing and watching television, I have trouble watching hour long shows as I can only focus on it for so long before my attention wavers, around that time I start looking at my phone and just waiting for it to be over. It's also why I don't watch too many movies; I need my entertainment bite sized. I'll watch movies every once in a while, but they generally need to be 100 minutes tops (unless it's something I'm super into.).
I have difficulty getting into things that are realistic; they usually need to be fantastical in nature and capture my imagination. My preferred genres are comedy, horror (mainly supernatural, no slashers) and most things involving special powers or abilities, however I can sometimes get into action or drama as well. I also have a love for the world of animation, possibly because they tend to be more creative and aren't limited by reality; it's part of why I'm so partial to anime.
Some shows that I'm fond of are:
Animation: Adventure Time, American Dad, Archer, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bob's Burgers, Bojack Horseman, [China, IL], Disenchantment, Futurama, HarmonQuest, Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, King of the Hill, Metalocalypse, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Mr. Pickles, Rick and Morty, Robot Chicken, South Park, Superjail, Ugly Americans, Venture Bros.
Live-action: Arrested Development, Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Carnivàle, Dexter, Eureka, Friends, Game of Thrones, The Good Place, House, The Lost Room, Monk, The Muppets (2015 series), The Office, Parks and Rec, Psych, Stargate, Stranger Things, Walking Dead, Warehouse 13, Wilfred
I definitely binge my shows, I like to wait for a season (or preferably an entire series) to be done before I jump into it. I'm also the type that's fine watching something just once. If I ever feel the need to watch it again it will be many, many years later. This extends to games as well, I generally need things with replayability such as MOBA's or Rogue-likes.
Gaming is easily one of my biggest hobbies and has been for many, many years now. I see it as an art form, as a way to tell a story that you can deeply immerse yourself in and get pulled into, something that can captivate you and make you lose all track of time because it's simply so engrossing. It's also a damn good way to have fun and kill time, especially when you're playing with friends. It's a big part of my life and something I have spent quite a bit of time and money on. Some people may be put off by this, but it a part of me that I will not deny or hide; after all, if someone has an issue with that then how compatible could we possibly be?
Some video games that hold a special place in my heart are:
Action/Adventure: Alan Wake, Assassin's Creed, Bastion, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Bayonetta, Brütal Legend, Bully, Darksiders, Dark Souls (first one), Deadly Premonition, Dead Space, Devil May Cry (3 & 5), Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, Heavy Rain, Hellblade, Infamous, Last of Us, Legend of Zelda (A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker), Luigi's Mansion, Metal Gear Solid (Twin Snakes, 3, 4 & 5), Ninja Gaiden (2004), Overlord, Phantom Crash, Resident Evil 2 remake, Saint's Row 2, The Saboteur, TMNT: Turtles in Time
Fighting: Anarchy Reigns, Blazblue (series), DBZ: Budokai, Dragon Ball Fighterz, Marvel vs Capcom (2 & 3), Mortal Kombat (9 & 11), Soul Calibur 3, Super Smash Bros. Melee
MOBA: Dota 2, Guardians of Middle Earth, Heroes of the Storm
Rogue-like: Binding of Isaac, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Darkest Dungeon, Dead Cells, Don't Starve, FTL, Monster Train, Slay the Spire
RPG: Bravely Default, Dragon Age (Origins and Inquisition), Dragon's Dogma, Elder Scrolls (Oblivion and Skyrim), Fable (1 & 2), Fallout (3 & New Vegas), Final Fantasy (IX, X & Tactics Advance), Grim Dawn, Mass Effect 2, Pillars of Eternity (series), Pokémon (Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver & Stadium), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Suikoden 2, Tyranny, The Witcher (2 & 3)
Shooter: Bioshock (series), Battlefield Bad Company (1 & 2), The Darkness, Deep Rock Galactic, Gears of War (1 & 3), Left 4 Dead, Shadowrun (2007 FPS), Team Fortress 2 (when it first came out, it's a little much now), Vanquish
Simulation: Animal Crossing (first one), Doki Doki Literature Club, Harvest Moon, Life is Strange, Pokémon Snap, Tabletop Simulator
Strategy: Civilization (3 & 4), Endless Legend, Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers (2012 & 2013), Portal, Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, Warcraft 3
Not only that, but I've also gotten into tabletop gaming, including both board and pen and paper games (such as Dungeons and Dragons.) I initially got into the latter as an exercise to strengthen my creative muscles but found it was a fun way to goof off with friends. For the former, it's almost gotten to the point that I enjoy them more than most video games as it provides an experience that you don't get anymore; friends gathered around and competing against one another or cooperating against a common foe, something that's disappeared with the advent of the internet.
Some board games that I love are:
BANG! The Dice Game, Dead of Winter, Dice Throne, Epic Spell Wars, King of New York, Lords of Waterdeep, Munchkin, Pandemic, Red Dragon Inn
I enjoy reading as well, although I find it difficult to find a book that can keep my focus and really draw me in like I crave. I'm constantly on the prowl for new material, and my favorite genres would probably be apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic, dystopian, horror and dark fantasy/grimdark, although I'm certainly in the market for something that has a good element of humor to it as well. If you have any recommendations, I'd absolutely love to hear them!
Bring up video/board/tabletop games, super powers, comics, cartoons, anime, manga, sci-fi, fantasy or technology and I'll happily chat your ear off. I'm quite social and love to talk, however I'm also an introvert so there are plenty of times where the pressure of constant social interactions with others gets to me and I need to take some time to myself to mentally recharge.
As I mentioned, I absolutely adore animals. Seriously, if you want to make me hate a bad guy, have him hurt an animal. Ironically, I'm practically a carnivore. I'm convinced that I would starve if I had to hunt for my own food just because I couldn't bring myself to hurt them.
Speaking of food, I'm a bit of a foodie (I dislike that word, but it's accurate.) I'm all about sauces, seasonings and spices, not to mention a love for anything deep fried. I love experiencing different tastes and textures while trying new things...as long as they're not vegetables. No veggies, except corn and potatoes; those two get a pass as they're amazing. I also enjoy onions and peppers in small quantities in dishes.
I've got a nice guy next door look in that I have no tattoos or piercings, have glasses, stay clean shaven and have a bit of a baby face (as in I look rather young, I often get mistaken for being in my mid 20's). I wouldn't say that with my look I would be called handsome, sexy or hot (however I am often called cute (I've also been called handsome a fair amount, it still feels weird though.) I'm also rather pale due to the fact that I stay indoors most of the time (if you can't tell from that, I'm white.) Because of my appearance, and my friendly and laid back nature, people tend to view me as rather innocent. I suppose that isn't entirely incorrect though, I'll admit that I can be a bit naive at times in regards to people and the world.
As for politics and religion, I tend to try to stay away from both.
While I believe I'm somewhat in the middle for the former, as I have views from both sides, if I had to choose I'd say I definitely lean way more towards the left. I believe in the greater good, the needs of the many over the needs of the few, in advancing science and finding alternative fuels and materials that don't pollute or destroy our environment in the process, in trying to create a brighter future, etc, etc. I'm definitely not on the far left however, and hate social justice and cancel culture. I'm empathetic and all, but people need to stop getting offended by every tiny thIng and creating problems that don't exist. That's definitely not exclusive to the left, the right is very guilty of it as well.
For the latter, I generally just consider myself not religious as I don't think or care about it too much. If I had to classify it though I'd say I'm agnostic. This means that, while I don't believe in any god or gods, I acknowledge that they might exist. While I'm 99.3̅3̅3̅% certain that there is no grand creator or afterlife, there's no real way we can know for certain. We're a very young and ignorant species, there's much about life and the universe that we are unaware of or don't understand yet.
I just try to focus on being a good person and doing right by others, not for some earthly or heavenly reward, or for a smug sense of self satisfaction, but because it's simply what I want to do. It's who I am and what makes me feel good about myself.
I try my best to live by The Golden Rule (also known as treat others you the way you wish to be treated or do unto others as you would have them do unto you), being guided by own moral compass that directs me in how I interact with others. I always do my very best to make others feel wanted, cared for, appreciated and understood, to give them validation; I never want anyone to feel left out or unwanted, for any reason at all. Perhaps it's from my own difficult childhood, since I felt that way when I was young and don't want others to go through the same things that I did. Whatever the reason, whenever I say or do anything I tend to, without even realizing it, think about how it will affect the other person and the different ways that it could be taken. I strive to treat others with the courtesy and respect that I believe that they deserve.
As I mentioned, I have a strong moral compass. The only problem is, this is true North for my compass; I feel that's the correct way to treat and interact with others, and I believe that's what everyone should do. So when other people don't act in the way that I believe they should, even though I know everyone is different and everyone has different thoughts, feelings and experiences that led them to those (we are the product of our environments after all), it can bother me. I've come to realize that this is due to holding myself to extremely high standards, and often holding other people to the same standards to which I hold myself.
Unfortunately, that can lead to conflicts with others, sometimes over things that they might feel to be insignificant. It doesn't happen very often though as I can recognize whether something is actually a big deal or not and put it to the back of my mind; I wouldn't be a very good friend or partner if I nitpicked over every little thing, now would I? Despite being very much driven by my moral compass, I'm also calm, collected, understanding and logical by nature.
I've realized that I used to put a lot of pressure on myself when interacting with others, trying to be funny and entertaining, overall trying to make sure that they were having a good time and enjoying themselves. If, for whatever reason, I felt that they were bored I ended up trying even harder to keep them engaged and joyful. It was somewhat of a bad habit of mine; I suppose I just felt like I had a personal stake in everyone that I interacted with, a responsibility almost, and didn't want to leave them wanting. I still do this to some extent, but not as much as I used to; as I've grown and matured, and my anxiety has lessened, I've learned to pull back a bit and that I don't need to carry everyone's burden on my shoulders. I still wish to keep people engaged and happy, and still take on more responsibility than I probably should, however I imagine that I'll always be that way; it's just in my nature.
I'm an emotionally intelligent and extremely empathetic person who's well aware of his inner workings due to my introspective nature. I'm easily able to see things from multiple perspectives, which I believe is because of how I process empathy. I don't necessarily feel the exact pain of others, but I mirror it; it's second nature for me to put myself in their position which allows me to understand the plethora of ways they can think and feel. This is something that is a core part of who I am and that I take great pride in.
I feel deeply, which can lead to me taking things to heart and sometimes reading too much into things or overanalyzing them. Thankfully, due to my great experience in emotional control and regulation (which I'm about to go into), I'm generally able to take a step back from my emotions and understand the intent and meaning behind words and actions so there's less of a chance of misunderstanding.
Because I feel so deeply, that caused problems for me when I was younger. My emotions were a swirling vortex, out of control and ready to burst out at any second. Puberty certainly didn't make this any easier either.
It's been said that our personal identity is 80% environmental and 20% genetic. While I might be genetically predispositioned to feeling so deeply, a lot of it likely comes from traumas experienced in childhood and my inability to process them properly. They left scars that I'm still dealing with today, and as a result of said scars, growing up I was diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, depression and OCD, on top of the ADHD that I already had. However, I'm thankfully in a very good place thanks to a combination of past therapy, current medication and constant reflection.
I've done a lot of work to be able to get a handle on my emotions. Because I got used to having them under such control, I've been told that at times I can come across as kind of indifferent or hard to read. That's one of the reasons that I'm such an upfront, open, honest and expressive person; I want people to be able to understand me and I generally tell exactly what I'm thinking or how something makes me feel so that others can do that.
Honestly, one of my biggest fears is that no one will ever be able to understand me like I understand myself. It's right up there with a fear of the unknown (one is the reasons I don't do deep water, I don't want to fuck with any Cthulhu monsters that are down there) and losing my memories, as in the end we're just a sum of our memories and I don't want to lose who I am.
I never claimed to be perfect; I have my flaws as well, and try to work on them every day to improve myself as a person. Since I've already put so much of myself into my profile, I thought that it was only right to put the negative parts in as well.
While some of these things could certainly be considered negative traits, I believe that they help make me the Dom that I am. Because I AM so compassionate, because I AM so empathetic, because I HAVE been through so much and still keep going, I feel that I can give a sub or a slave what she truly needs to thrive in her environment. Feel free to read more about that below.
My Beliefs:
If I had to break down why this all appeals to me to one reason, to put it simply, I'd have to say that I'm the kind of person who wants to be needed. I find that, overall, I feel more driven and fulfilled if I know that I have someone that depends on me. If I have someone whose best interests I must keep in mind, who I need to protect and care for, I feel a greater sense of purpose than the humdrum rumblings of everyday life.
When you combine that with my nurturing and empathetic nature this type of relationship is the natural choice for me (more on that next). I believe that's also why I find myself naturally drawn to the weak, the helpless and the damaged. I have an overwhelming desire to heal them, to help and protect them while nurturing them and watching them grow into who I know they can be, which goes with what I was saying before.
A sub knows that her Dom loves her unconditionally and only wants what is best for her. While I do certainly enjoy doing this, I primarily do this to help my sub above all else. I'm a nurturing soul who wishes nothing more than to protect his partner. To take care of her and help her when she needs it. To be her support and her life line. To give her the guidance, structure and discipline she needs to feel fulfilled in life. To set rules and guidelines so that she can move freely within those set limits and be happy. To help her decide what is best for her when she herself doesn't know. To provide the security and comfort of knowing that she is being taken care of and that she has someone she can talk to about anything without any sort of judgment or prejudice. I want her to thrive and become the person that she was always meant to be. I enjoy pushing my sub to explore her boundaries and limits, within reason of course. I simply wish to see her flourish and blossom, to help her become what I know she can be and reach higher plateaus.
I realize the previous paragraphs could sound condescending in some ways, however that couldn't be further from the truth. I see my partner as an equal, someone who simply has different needs that I can fulfill so that they can live a fulfilling life themselves, and in turn by fulfilling those needs of theirs, I feel fulfilled as well. We ultimately form a symbiotic relationship of sorts.
Make no mistake, I have no desire to micromanage every tiny detail of my sub's life, nor form a codependent relationship where she's entirely reliant upon me for her mental and emotional needs. The level and extent of the D/s relationship is decided after long discussion and input from both parties.
Some believe that being a Dom is just telling people what to do and getting what you want while getting off, but it's so much more than that. It's not as easy or simple as it appears, you must always keep what is best for your sub in mind, even if it conflicts with your own immediate or future interests. You must constantly be aware of her needs and desires while providing checks and balances to help her live a life worth living. Anyone can simply give a sub what she wants, it takes a true Dom to say no because you feel that is what is best for her.
At least that's how it should be. There are so many "Doms" out there that don't care about their subs at all, only themselves. They don't care if they're suffering physically or emotionally, they simply use them as toys they can play with and then toss aside when they're bored; they abuse them and hurt them simply because they get a kick out of it. A real Dom/sub relationship is a very special and strong bond, much more so than a vanilla relationship in my opinion. So many people seem to have issues understanding that unfortunately, there's a certain stigma associated with this and preconceptions are formed before they even learn anything about it.
Truthfully, I believe the sub holds the power in the relationship in many ways. She is the one that is choosing to submit after all, to give up her power and control to the Dom. Despite that, she is the one that has control over the power of safe words, that can stop an activity with a single utterance. Her subservience is completely voluntary, something that many people don't seem to think about. It's not simply about someone bossing someone around because they can, it's about someone choosing a partner that they feel is worthy to give their all to.
What I'm looking for:
I'm not here looking for a booty call or one night stand, but to find a potential partner in crime, possibly for life if a connection is made. More than anything, I simply wish to find someone who looks at me the way this girl looks at her prom date.
While the following is my ideal, as I said at the beginning, I'm open to talking to anyone that reads this. However, I'm not particularly interested in "littles" or "brats".
Ideally my partner would be what is typically called an adult babygirl, and I'd like to elaborate on that term since some might not be familiar with it. Essentially it's someone who enjoys the nurturing, loving and structured aspect of a Daddy Dom or DD/lg relationship but isn't a little themselves; meaning that they don't have a mental age that they regress to, among other things. (I don't identify as a Daddy myself, however due to my protective and supportive/nurturing nature you could say I'm Daddy leaning.)
Some people have their entire lives revolve around the lifestyle, going to munches, conventions, parties and attempting to reach out to their community and find a place to belong. That might work for them, but it's of no interest to me. While I'm certainly not opposed to chatting and making friends and connections, I have no desire to be a part of a community. I'm simply seeking one whose ideas and beliefs line up with my own for a symbiotic relationship as I mentioned before
If I had to describe such a relationship, it would definitely be on the lighter side of the spectrum in regards to what daily life would be like. I'm seeking a 24/7 TPE, however I also enjoy being casual with my sub. Perhaps in some ways it's more similar to a vanilla relationship with strong Dom/sub undertones than a typical BDSM relationship.
In my perfect situation, we would still be able to joke around, have fun and be very close and romantic; however there is also the constant understanding that I am in charge, and what I say goes. No matter how much fun we may be having or what we might be doing, she should always know her place, even if it's only in the back of her mind. There are rules in place for her benefit, and if she breaks those rules she will be punished.
By what I say goes, I mean I have the final say in subjects because, as a submissive, she has given the reins of power over to me. She trusts me to make her decisions for her and to do what is best for her, to take care of and protect her. I'm never the type to say "this is how it's going to be, I don't care what you want, end of discussion" as discourse is the only way two people can truly understand one another. I always value my submissive's input and always want her to give her opinion and speak her mind if something is bothering her.
My ideal sub would be one that is loyal and devoted above all else, but also one who is looking for a Dom she can actually have a connection with. One that, not necessarily needs, but craves guidance, support, structure and discipline in their life; whose life does not feel complete without this, like there is a void deep inside her that cannot be filled unless she has a Dom to guide and take care of her, that she can in turn make happy and serve to the best of her ability.
Beyond anything else though, I want to like them as a person before I love them as a sub. My perfect partner would be someone who is intelligent, kind-hearted, earnest, funny and a has a fair touch of dorkiness in her. I want her to be someone that actually has personality, that I can laugh with and talk to for hours upon hours on end and still hate the thought of leaving. Someone that will either indulge my love of games and geekery or join me because she's just as much of a fan of those things as I am. Someone who loves how I tease and torment her, keeping her on the edge and revelling in the pleasure I get from watching her squirm.
One thing to note is that just because I am very friendly (sometimes people are surprised when I begin acting more Dominant, others aren't as they say they can "sense it in the way I present myself", even while being friendly and joking around) doesn't mean that I'm not strict when I have to be. I have no problem at all with enforcing rules and giving out punishments, although it's certainly not my favorite aspect of the relationship. I would prefer to reward, encourage and nurture my sub, however there are times when discipline is necessary; if one feels the need to act up, one must be ready accept the consequences after all.
If I had to describe my style of dominance, or what makes me dominant, I suppose that would be a little tricky. I don't feel the need to control everything, nor do I attempt to, and I have no problem with kicking back and letting others take the reigns in everyday situations if I feel they're more qualified or I just plain don't feel like it. Nor am I the type that "oozes" dominance, I don't care for confrontation and am a very easy going, go with the flow person. What I believe it boils down to is I simply feel comfortable with power and, quite frankly, enjoy it. I bear the burden of leadership well, it comes naturally to me and I thrive when I have the weight of another's life on my shoulders; I have little trouble making hard decisions when I need to. It also helps that my sexual inclinations line up with this nicely. If it doesn't last quite some time and doesn't end with both parties panting and soaked in sweat, I'm not particularly interested in it.
On that note, I have quite the kinky side despite my friendly and charming exterior. I suppose I should list it here because, while certainly not the primary focus of my interest in this, sexual compatibility does factor in to some extent.
My kinks are:
Anal, begging, biting, blowjobs, body worship, bondage, choking, cock worship, consensual non-consent, creampies, crying (the good kind), cumplay, deepthroating, degradation, desperation, dirty talking, face fucking, facials, free use, hair pulling, hole stretching (basically pushing my partner to her limits), humiliation, hypnosis, name calling, objectification, orgasm control (which includes edging, forced orgasms, orgasm denial and ruined orgasms), public play (in a discreet manner), slapping, spanking, spitting and teasing.
One thing I feel I should mention is that the acts of degradation and humilation are limited to play time and only sexual in nature, never attacking my partner in any way.
I also believe very strongly in aftercare and safe words as the mental and emotional well being of my partner is very important.
I realize there's no one way to live this lifestyle, but I feel like a lot of what I said should be obvious and general knowledge in regards to this; however from my experience it doesn't seem to be that way too often (not referring to the that are inexperienced in this, more those that do this for the wrong reason), which is why I wanted to share my views in such detail.
I feel like I've rambled on enough already and am dangerously close to having a TL;DR (yeah, I hit that ages ago), so I'll just say that if you're interested in learning more about me and getting to know me, you can give me a message and we'll see where things go. I like to get to know people naturally, just talk with them and see where things lead, whether that be a short chat, a simple friendship or something more. It seems silly to have expectations when you don't even know the person or how you'll get along.
Even if you're nervous or anxious, you think you might not be good enough, doubt my intentions or anything along those lines, still give me a message. After all, what do you have to lose?
Thanks for taking the time to read my little novella, I hope to hear from you soon. So long, and thanks for reading!

2023.05.29 15:02 BenShutterbug My in-depth review of the Mazda CX-60 after 7000km and 5 months - Design, Performance, Range and Value for Money
Hello everyone,
Last January, I purchased a CX-60. As it is still difficult to find user reviews of this model, I took the time to write this review in the hope that it can be helpful to you if you are considering buying this car. I hope that my experience can answer some of your questions and assist you in your decision-making process.
Exterior Design (4/5)
The design is particularly successful. The car has a sleek look and gives the impression of being in motion even when stationary, just as the designers promised during the design phase. It has nothing to envy compared to its competitors, such as the Audi Q5. Although I'm not a big fan of black rims, I must admit that they blend harmoniously with the Takumi package on this model. The black accents on the rims, tinted windows, and mirrors create a visual signature that doesn't go unnoticed. Unlike most models, it stands out more in person than in photos, especially in terms of size. It is truly massive. For comparison, it is longer and taller than an Audi Q5. When you see it for the first time, the "wow" effect is guaranteed. However, the rear of the vehicle is less expressive and does not do justice to the front and side views. Fortunately, the quad exhaust at the back helps maintain the sporty character of the model.
Interior Design (5/5)
The interior layout is clean, simple, and modern. It features a large central screen, a minimally customizable driver display, and a head-up display integrated directly on the windshield. This efficiency will surely appeal to those who struggle with screens everywhere displaying unnecessary information. Similarly, you cannot customize the ambient lighting in the evening. The lights are fixed, in a neutral color, and the adjustment only offers 3 intensities. It may not be to everyone's liking, but personally, I find it liberating to be free from countless customization possibilities that always leave a sense of dissatisfaction. As for the materials, they come in understated colors and durable textures, both in terms of aesthetics and longevity (at least for now, time will tell). The center console is impressively wide and gives a sense of space rarely felt in vehicles of similar size. When driving this car, you feel like you're aboard a large American SUV like the Suburban or Ford Explorer. Unfortunately, there are not many storage compartments. The huge center console only offers a tiny compartment that can hold a few small items and keys at most. The door pockets are also very low and not very practical.
Ergonomics (4/5)
The cabin offers generous space for all occupants, including the rear seats where even adults over 1.80m tall have ample legroom. The seats, which are rather firm and have limited adjustments, can be surprising at first, especially if you're coming from a vehicle with a multitude of settings. In the first few days, I experienced sharp back pain, especially since the car lacks flexibility as I'll mention later. After three weeks of adjustment, the pain disappeared, and I even noticed an improvement in my posture. In my previous vehicle, my seat was so comfortable, like a sofa, but now I realize it was bad for my back. Inside this car, with its comfort inspired by Japanese tatami mats, I ultimately feel better, less slouched, and more alert. The trunk offers significant capacity, especially compared to similar models. However, it doesn't have a dual compartment or a sub-trunk to store charging cables. The tailgate rises very high, over 3 meters. It struggles to lock in place when encountering resistance, which can damage it from the first uses. I recommend adjusting it by pressing the closing button while it's opening, to lock it at the desired height, and holding down that button for 5 seconds (until you hear a series of beeps) to limit the opening range.
Technologies and Equipment (3/5)
The connectivity is quite comprehensive, although Apple CarPlay suffers from some instability and unexplained bugs (random disconnections, unexpected cuts, slowdowns, random automatic connection). Wireless charging also sometimes poses a problem. It works randomly and seems to generate a lot of heat on the phone. When not in use, an error message keeps flashing, indicating that no phone is being charged.
As for driving aids, the lane-keeping system works very well, although it is not autonomous. If you don't have your hands on the wheel, the car behaves like a billiard ball, bouncing from one lane to another. However, if it deviates from its trajectory because you're not attentive enough, it will alert you and secure the car by making a steering correction. It's very reassuring and always activated at the right time. Moreover, it's even a valuable aid on high-speed winding turns, on certain departmental roads. Other vehicles end up cutting through the turns or having to slow down excessively, while you effortlessly stay precisely in your lane.
I was very disappointed with the cruise control, which is not adaptive. Later, I discovered that it is an option that is disabled in the software since all the necessary sensors are already present. You can confirm this through ActiveSense, which provides a complete view of surrounding vehicles. So, I wanted to add this option later, willing to bear the cost, but Mazda doesn't allow it. This strategy, or lack of a sales strategy, is surprising.
The temperature management inside the car is surprising. Without changing the temperature settings in automatic mode, during a long drive, there is a yo-yo effect that is difficult to explain. One moment, it feels quite cool, and a few minutes later, it becomes too hot. I wonder if it's related to the external brightness because on a hot spring day, the air conditioning temperature suddenly rose when the sky suddenly became overcast. However, it was still hot outside. I think there's an overly reactive adaptive mode at play.
The remote car management is quite good. It's possible to activate the heating or air conditioning, which will run for a maximum of 30 minutes before shutting off and sending a notification to your phone. You can extend it if you have a good signal. The car surprisingly receives a signal in unexpected places, even in underground parking lots where my phone has no network. This remote temperature mode is ideal for defrosting the car or leaving a dog inside during cold weather or in the summer when the temperature rises quickly in a closed and parked car. I've tested it in extreme cold and hot seasonal temperatures, and it works very well so far. Of course, it consumes a lot of energy, but you can't have everything without a trade-off. It's suitable for occasional use. The rest of the remote features include locking the car, checking tire pressure, consulting the range, and receiving alerts if the alarm is triggered, which is very reassuring. It's also possible to locate the car precisely. It's a shame that we can't access the cameras, as in other fully electric models.
It's not clear in the vehicle manual, but to deactivate the alarm, you need to press the alarm button on the remote right after locking the car. The indicator will blink 4 times, and then it will be turned off. It's better to do it before leaving your dog alone, or else the alarm will be triggered if the dog moves inside the vehicle.
Performance and Driving Dynamics (4/5)
I own the 327-horsepower PHEV model: 200 horsepower from the atmospheric gasoline engine and 127 horsepower from the electric motor. Although the low-end power is reduced with an atmospheric engine, the electric motor more than makes up for it with its responsiveness and instant torque. Despite its weight, the car is very agile. It even outperforms some more powerful or lighter petrol-powered cars in terms of acceleration. Of course, such models regain the advantage in corners, but not in straight lines. The acceleration is impressive, although the road noise insulation somewhat dampens the sensation. Other vehicles seem almost stationary when you step on the accelerator.
I was initially disappointed with the braking performance, which was less impressive than in my previous vehicle. However, by pressing the pedal harder and adjusting the regenerative braking to the maximum, I managed to get used to it.
The handling is remarkable. Although it's not a sports car capable of maintaining very high speeds in corners, it still surpasses similar-sized competing models. Thanks to the four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, the turning angle and trajectory in corners are impressive for a car of this size. One of the drawbacks of the vehicle lies in the stiffness of the suspension. Despite the excellent noise isolation, you feel the road imperfections more than you would expect when driving an SUV. Even at low speeds, speed bumps are very uncomfortable and cause items in the trunk to bounce around. Mazda seems to have made this choice to prevent the relatively high car from swaying in corners and reduce the risk of rollovers at high speeds. Adaptive suspension could have solved this problem. However, considering the pricing position against the competition, I understand why the brand overlooked this aspect. Moreover, after 3000 km, I noticed that the suspension has become slightly softer, improving comfort to some extent.
Energy Efficiency and Range (2/5)
The consumption and hybridization aspects encompass the majority of the vehicle's drawbacks. The car discharges quickly, and the actual range is much lower than what the manufacturer claims. Like many owners, I also face a discharge issue when the car is parked. It loses about 30% of charge in 24 hours (and even drains the 12-volt starter battery - as if the headlights were left on). This problem is due to software that prevents the car from entering sleep mode. I have already taken my vehicle to Mazda for reprogramming, and I will have to do it again soon because the issue is still unresolved (now I lose 15% in 24 hours). This problem is not part of the manufacturer's recalls, but many owners are affected. Dealing with a less established manufacturer, this can quickly become a headache. I had to go through many steps and cancel orders for other CX-60s for my company before being taken into consideration by the after-sales service. During my third call, Mazda France assistance even replied to me that they are not Audi. The message is quite clear.
Beyond this specific issue, the management of hybridization lacks customization and seems suitable for a specific use case only. If you live in a house, always have the car plugged in, and regularly make short trips, this plug-in hybrid is suitable. However, if you cannot plug it in daily or if you regularly drive more than 50 km round trip, you might be disappointed. Especially considering the consumption of this car in electric mode, it is often more expensive to charge it than to refuel with gasoline. The cost per 100 km is 2 to 4 times higher at current energy prices. Personally, I opted for the hybrid due to the tax incentives and benefits, but I also wanted to take advantage of remote heating and air conditioning options, especially when I have to leave my dog in the car for a few minutes. Since I cannot recharge it daily in the parking lot of my building, it would be desirable to be able to keep a charged battery and drive in combustion engine mode, but no mode truly allows that. It is possible to choose to recharge the car while driving, consuming approximately 13 liters per 100 km, but you cannot choose to drive solely on the combustion engine without using the high-capacity battery. The sport mode comes close, but the gears are shifted at high RPM, making the driving experience jerky and particularly noisy, and the battery is used as soon as you accelerate a bit (to activate the 137-horsepower motor). An exclusively combustion engine mode would have been relevant, similar to the exclusively electric mode. Furthermore, recharging the battery while driving doesn't work correctly. The recharge is very fast, much faster than when it's connected to 7 kW chargers. However, the displayed percentage does not correspond to the actual charge, which explains why it continues to recharge beyond the set percentage. For example, if you're at 30% and ask the car to recharge up to 50% while driving, it will work at a high rate until it reaches 50%. In normal mode, it will stop recharging the battery, but will continue operating at a high rate to not drop below 50%. So, you end up consuming more without reason, with the engine noise constantly high, which is quite unpleasant. In sport mode, it will continue recharging the battery above 50% without any limit. However, once the car is stopped and restarted, you'll notice that you weren't at 50%, but rather at 35%. The fast recharge was, therefore, fictitious. The problem is that this is a first for Mazda in terms of technology, and no one there is able to provide answers on this matter. The garage I visit explains that Mazda is highly centralized and communicates very little in terms of engineering with the garages. It is, therefore, common for a problem to persist for several months (or more) before being addressed at the technical management level in Japan and then transmitted to local dealerships. However, when deciding to market a technologically immature car, it would be wise to establish a continuous improvement process based on user feedback. In fact, on forums, we can see that Japanese users receive preferential treatment compared to the rest of the world. In conclusion, the battery of this car, which needs to be recharged at a high cost, is only useful for the first 40 kilometers. So, you spend over 3 hours recharging a battery at an exorbitant rate for only 25 or 30 minutes of driving without using gasoline. One might wonder if it's simply a trick to equip professionals, allowing them to benefit from incentives and reduced tax on company vehicles (the primary reason for my purchase). I think many people will never plug it in.
Cost and Value for Money (4/5)
The value for money of this model is indeed very interesting when compared to vehicles of the same standing from other brands, such as Audi. For example, an Audi Q5 offers a similar level but with an additional cost of €25,000. For the same price as a Mazda CX-60, you would only get a Q3 from Audi, which is clearly not comparable. However, it is important to note that the depreciation of this vehicle could be significant, and it might even become difficult to resell it in a few years. This is also true for all plug-in hybrid models. Therefore, I would recommend this model, provided that you negotiate the price well or opt for a lease (the offers are very attractive, and personally, I chose this payment method). The PHEV configuration of the vehicle is suitable for individuals who have daily access to a charging point and have diverse travel needs, ranging from short to long trips. Before the increase in electricity prices, the cost per 100 km was slightly more advantageous compared to gasoline, but today it is the opposite (except when charging from a domestic socket).
Conclusion
I am delighted with this car considering the price at which I acquired it. The positioning is unbeatable, and there are good deals to be made to drive this luxury sports SUV at the price of a "regular" SUV. With a domestic electric socket, choosing the plug-in hybrid is a good middle ground. It's just a shame that the hybrid management is not more refined. Perhaps future updates will address these teething problems.

2023.05.29 14:49 ChicoTallahassee Is the corporation I work for being raided?
Management brags to each other about how they ordered a powerwasher for the park since they needed to clean their terraces at home. This is just a small example.
This weekend there was nearly no staff in the hotel and rooms were filled with guests. The kitchen wasn't performing as usual and had to serve cold food. Rooms weren't cleaned in between stays and maintainance wasn't performed.

2023.05.29 10:18 OrneryStruggle Was Dongmin really the GOAT? I'm not convinced.
Doubt I will get many responses to this because the show stopped airing 8years ago but I finally got to watching all 4 seasons (almost, I didn't watch the last couple eps of s4 yet but I know some spoilers) and I'm completely baffled by what seems to be the mainstream opinion that Dongmin dominated both social play and game understanding.
This is my fav reality TV show of all time and maybe I've overanalyzed it but I've read almost all the threads here and on the koreanvariety sub and I still don't fully understand the heavy Dongmin bias. This seems even more obvious watching/reading the translations of Hyunmin's streams about the game.
First of all I definitely think Dongmin belongs in the top 3/4 genius players ever so I'm not saying he wasn't great (and his gagman personality was prob my fav in the whole show in terms of entertainment value), but there were several things he did that put him far below other players for me on multiple occasions: (SPOILERS FOLLOW!!!)
-
-
-
- IMO season 3 was the weakest season for me in terms of player skill; he dominated this season by teaming up with the one other strong player amongst a bunch of total duds and intimidating them into doing what he wanted. If anything had ever gone wrong with his plans in S3 he wouldn't have had the kind of social pull he ended up having in S4, but through wooing Hyunmin and sheer gumption he seemed to carve out a reputation that followed him into S4. If anything had gone wrong with this strategy, he likely would have tanked in S4 since his gameplay was entirely dependent upon being perceived as THE BEST by others and thus easily forming alliances. Notably the other best social player Sangmin didn't need to force majority alliances; he was never disliked no matter what he did and his alliances were fluid and didn't need to be majorities.
- He pretended to be a very 'loyal' player who didn't betray unlike Sangmin, but I think Sangmin was more loyal in reality. Dongmin's 'majority alliance' strategy was to win the SOLE immunity token most of the time while weaker players on his team got picked off one by one, hence the constant discussion on the show about how his limbs got cut off one by one. If his 'allies' in season 3 weren't so totally incompetent, I don't think they would have allied with him since they were always first in the line of fire for death matches. There were a few times he tried hard to save people, but he often failed and his alliances were so big it was basically impossible to save everyone. Dongmin stayed loyal to Hyunmin but over 2 seasons Sangmin stayed more loyal to a larger number of allies, and didn't form 'fake' alliances with 4-7 people like Dongmin did knowing one would go to the DM. Sangmin either tried for a joint/team win more often, or would save one person he thought was likely to get picked for DM; Dongmin pretended to be a loyal team player but almost always made sure he and his strongest allies stayed safe while weaker players on his 'team' got picked off, especially in S3.
- Dongmin appeared to be an almost unbeatable DM player in S4, but this was largely due to being able to practice (he even admitted this himself) and certain DM remaining much the same over 4 seasons. Two of his DM showings in S3 (when he had less practice) were humiliatingly bad; 12Janggi in the S3 final was something I as a person who hates chess immediately 'ooF!!!'ed at and mental manipulation aside his move in Monorail may have been the stupidest thing anyone has EVER done in a Genius DM. If YeonJoo wasn't so mentally weak he may have gone out in S3 as the stupidest person to make it to F5 ever, with the most embarrassing defeat, and likely would have had no clout in S4 either due to people thinking he was an imbecile. I think he would have lost against almost ALL other players (other than YeonJoo, who always had difficulty grasping/remembering rules) in his DM in S3, and with that loss would have gone most of his social capital and dominance. FTR Kyunghoon was also able to practice S4 DMs and did surprisingly well in them, despite being one of the players who made the most unbelievably stupid mistakes in the history of The Genius. Let's not forget he wanted to do the math black mission but forgot about order of operations in Chain Auction. Dongmin was lucky Hyunmin was busy with exams so barely practiced DMs like 12Janggi in S4, or he could have been beaten more easily. In contrast, other good 'social players' assumed to be bad at deathmatches like Sangmin had minimal opportunity to practice because they did them in S1 (when all DM were new/secret) or very early in S4 (when people hadn't practiced like crazy yet except Khound). It's assumed Sangmin would always lose DMs against Dongmin, and this is probably true if we assume time to practice, but with no ability to practice I'm not sure this would always be the case.
- Dongmin's showing in S4 was almost entirely due to Sangmin getting booted early. His 'social capital' in ep1-3 was essentially null and void and he seemed completely useless in early S4 while Sangmin was around, because he lacked the adaptability and charisma of Sangmin. Even when they teamed up Sangmin 'magically' got sole winner of MM while Dongmin took credit despite doing very little. If Sangmin had not made the Very Stupid Mistake in Today's Menu at the start, Dongmin likely would have remained a socially nullified nothing player for many more episodes due to his inability to adapt. Instead, since his main competitor for social dominance was gone he ended up playing S4 much like S3, as the 'king' character, but he seemed like a sad ghost while Sangmin was on the season.
- Yes I keep mentioning Sangmin so now I will justify Sangmin being 'better' despite being obviously worse at DM/finale games. I think if the two got to a final together Dongmin would definitely win, but I think the 'important' part of The Genius was main matches rather than death matches. Some DM are purely luck based, others are pretty breakable if you know the strategy and others in later seasons could be practiced. The difference between Dongmin and Sangmin is that Dongmin had the opportunity to practice while Sangmin, being on S1/2, never did. Sangmin did OK at games totally new to him while Dongmin did anywhere between amazing and humiliatingly awful. If Dongmin was on S1 would his showing in Monorail have worked? There was no person with self-esteem as low as YeonJoo to take the fall in S1. Admittedly by S3/4 I am sure Dongmin would have won more DMs than Sangmin, but Sangmin's 'metagame' to get to the end with a stupid player like YoHwan was much more clever than Dongmin's S3 strategy to get to the end with someone who could trounce him at a game like 12Janggi. Of course this was his only option because he had no way of getting top two without a 'brainy' player like Hyunmin. Sangmin didn't need that and could get top2 after picking off smarter players. This is the most important difference between them - Sangmin as an individual player could pick off competition easily and get to the end, while Dongmin had to be carried to the end by a brainiac player like Hyunmin.
- This is not really a point on its own but a justification of the point above. I think people who give equal merit to being a good Deathmatch player compared to a good Mainmatch player are not understanding what the show is about. If you want to see someone excel at poker you can watch professional poker on cable TV or a stream at any time. If you're so into 12Janggi and similar watch professional chess. Many people have eidetic memory and would excel at same picture/number hunt or could essentially break Monorail (I more or less did after messing with it for a couple hours). The genius part of The Genius has always been main matches, where there are too many variables to get by with just one skill set, so I think people who excel at main matches are better Genius contestants than people who can usually win a DM. The DM is a 'last chance' opportunity for players who failed their initial play, but at the end of the day the MM is what really separates the great players from the weak players on The Genius, and Sangmin was simply better at securing MM wins or at least safety in Main Matches. Dongmin lost a surprising number of MMs helplessly, with no outs, and even many that he won were wins only for him and not for his entire team, making him a horrible 'team' player. If people are impressive at DMs for me it is usually because they win a new game they're not familiar with, without much time to think about it, and not because they practiced it for weeks or months in advance. Dongmin on S3 had the advantage of most other contestants being incredibly weak and bad at grasping rules so he could push through majority alliances that only gave 2 immunity tokens and somehow play it off as being a 'team player'; this never would have worked with the overall smarter contestants on S1.
- Unlike Sangmin who had the flexibility to have several 'outs' from a bad MM play (that never angered anybody), Dongmin's strategy on a MM was always 'do what I say and if we fail oh well we all die together.' This made for some amazing matches like Garnet Thief but also many embarrassing defeats, or plays that I actually found socially stupid outright despite him eventually winning. The best example of this I can think of is Loyalists vs Rebels, where Dongmin (with his superior social intuition) had already secured the final King immortality token and decided to unilaterally override his entire team with a play that sacrificed one of his most loyal allies (Kyungran) to save someone he had near-zero use for (Jungmoon). Sure it looked cool and fancy for him to have 'sniffed out the rat' so effectively, but by overriding his own team after securing the token of immunity I think he weakened several important alliances (esp. Hyunmin who clearly stopped cooperating afterward), only to save a truly cancerous player, for no clear reason. In his on-air interviews he claimed that if he 'betrayed' Jungmoon he would lose the trust of his team, but there is an easy way out of this I could identify immediately, which would be simply to take a vote from the remaining 5 players other than Jungmoon. Then the blame would not have been placed on him and he could have ensured the loss of a useless (to him) player (either Jungmoon or Yoohyun) rather than someone critical to his team plays. That he didn't think of this struck me as a very low-IQ move. I honestly think he did this just as a powerplay and for more screentime, but I think it was stupid and if his intuition had been wrong he would have made an enemy of his whole team. Even being right I think this made Hyunmin start looking for other alliances.
- Overall it's not clear to me that Dongmin ever had the adaptability to survive on his own unlike Jinho, Sangmin, Hyunmin. He always needed a 'brainier' player on his team to figure out the rules and game theory for him and was too individually weak to go to S3 finals with an idiot which Sangmin did easily. Sangmin never needed someone else to do calculations or explanations of game theory in a backroom while he pulled off social plays while Dongmin always needed helpers to calculate how he was going to play a match so he couldn't get to the finals without mathematically smarter allies. Sangmin figured out option 1, 2, 3, 4 on his own without asking someone else how the game worked while Dongmin had Hyunmin locked in a room doing calculations on his notepad to win, and Sangmin STILL managed more entertaining plays. One of the only times all three champions were pitted against one another in Chain Auction Dongmin brutally lost because he didn't understand basic arithmetic while Jinho calmly massacred everyone with game theory understanding. If Social Game is of utmost importance I'll always give more credit to a player with good social game who understands the game theory and math too rather than a player with good social game who needs helpers to figure out what's happening. Dongmin's 'I'm the king so listen to me' plays only worked in late S3 and all of S4 because of 1 - Sangmin not being there and 2 - him having lucked out in Monorail, otherwise no one would ever have listened to him. He really could have gone down in The Genius history as a character stupider than YeonJoo.
Finally I think people massively overrate the pull of the extra immunity token in S2. I think a lot of people act like S2 was 'broken' because Sangmin had the immunity token, but for one thing he never used it on himself because he won every main match and for another no one could have honestly believed sucking up to him could have gotten them the token as everyone knew Sangmin would keep it for himself and not give it away. Sure, Sangmin seemed to have 'overly good luck' in S2 and this may have been producer influence but he did just fine in S1 and S4 main matches where that influence was obviously not present, even coming up with a pretty clever solution for 5:5 game in S1 where one would expect him to obviously lose. The fact that S2 F5 was a bunch of morons (except JungHyun imo) was absolutely Sangmin's best 'metagame' and he never had to sacrifice his immunity token or barter to make that happen. He gave the token away to a pathetic player who didn't even barter for it because he didn't have use for it after winning so many main matches. And said pathetic player was assumed to be good at DM wins, but Sangmin correctly assessed he wasn't a real threat. He never needed to be 'carried' and Dongmin needed carrying in S3 for sure, if not S4. There were so many instances between S3-S4 where Dongmin needed carrying, and would have been absolutely wrecked by people sabotaging him, and we know he was beyond awful at death matches until he practiced them having them named in advance. There were so many moments also when Dongmin won despite not figuring out obvious solutions, like Jury Game, or where despite being a good 'social player' he couldn't influence his team adequately like Sword and Shield, that make me think his game theory understanding was only average at best and he got lucky. Investment and Donation was another one where he basically lost just by reading people wrong and not thinking on his feet, where 100% Sangmin never would have let it get to that point. On the other hand he had 'extrasensory power' e.g. in Horror Race and couldn't make use of it at all? After hearing everything about God Dongmin I was honestly quite disappointed.

2023.05.29 09:01 The_Transcendant On the wild rose: Alberta's last fifty years and its next few hours
| Tomorrow. Canada will see one of its wildest elections in recent memory, tomorrow. Even for an American dominated sub I’m surprised it’s fallen this far under the radar. In short, it’s very important, very divisive and very, very close. Alberta is a really unique case because politically speaking, it’s so far removed from the rest of the country. Alberta separatism, while still fringe, is finding more and more popular support over there. Conservative votes are so concentrated in Alberta and in the rest of the rural prairies that the CPC actually won the federal popular vote in both 2019 and 2021 despite losing badly to the Liberals in terms of seats, which are what actually matter. Nearly every one of their regional stereotypes hinges on how right wing they are. Alberta is built different. To show why this is I’m going to go over the political history of the province and what has lead up to now. ALBERTA LORE It is the people who govern, or at least we say. And it goes without saying who has governed Alberta for the past 80 years. Like the western United States and the other prairie provinces, Alberta started out as a stronghold of progressive populism, but in 1935 the right wing populist Social Credit party took power from the left-wing agrarians, and held it uninterrupted until 1971 when they lost to the Progressive Conservatives, who would govern for even longer. Alberta has only changed governments 5 times in its history. This kind of de facto one party system can only exist for a reason, and the reason was oil. The oil boom began at the tail end of the Socred days. The urbanization that oil caused is what brought the PC’s into power, and the insane amount of wealth that oil conjured is what kept them there eternally. And I do mean insane. During oil booms, literally anyone could find an oil rig job paying six figures; hamlets became small cities and small cities became metropolises of over a million people. Take Calgary, the biggest city in the province. It is more sprawling than a well planned city, yet it’s ranked the third most livable in the world, chiefly because of how much rainbow fucking monopoly money it sees. So Alberta had no qualms with becoming a petrostate - why would they? They became one of the richest places on earth. The PC’s were far from radical; they threw their billions at public works, and they weren’t particularly conservative socially. They never really made anyone mad. Sparing 1993 (when they still kept their 50% + 1), the PC’s never faced any real opposition from the left, right, or centre, top, or bottom. Remember, we are talking about decades. This is 1975, but this isn't anything special. They all looked like this in the early PC era. This did change, though. Think back to whatever the Tea Party was in the US; what it stood for, what ignited it, what kept it burning. As the PC leadership grew stale and moldy, straying from “true conservatism” by deficiting hard and lobbing vast sums of money back at the oil industry, the hard right went “fuck it” and left. In 2008, The Alberta Alliance, which had exactly one representative, merged with the Wildrose party (named for Alberta's designated flower), which had exactly zero, to create a real conservative alternative. They ultimately failed to build any real sort of momentum in the 2008 provincial election. Their leader and sole MLA, Paul Hinman, lost re-election and stepped down. In their 2009 leadership election, lobbyist Danielle Smith took his place. Now Alberta was deep into the Great Recession, and the party was genuinely optimistic now, because PC premier Ed Stelmach’s popularity was tanking among the right. In a Calgary by-election that year, Paul Hinman ran and won in a seat that had been held by the PC’s since 1969. This was a W that gave the Wildrose party the momentum and legitimacy that they desperately needed. Every 30 or 40 years, we get tired of the government that’s in power and we sweep them out and we look to a new alternative. I think we have an opportunity to catch one of those historic waves. - Danielle Smith, upon being named Wildrose Alliance leader. I straight up ripped this shit from wiki but it encapsulates it all better than anything else I could write. In 2011, the ever more unpopular Ed Stelmach resigned and was replaced by scandal-plagued Alison Redford. There was another election to come in 2012, and Wildrose was leading. Looking at every poll taken right up until election day, the Progressive Conservative hegemony seemed to be coming to an end. Then came the casting of the ballots, and the results were a fat fucking almost-nothingburger for Danielle Smith (who definitely wasn’t free of controversy herself). Her party was largely confined to the province’s southern rural areas - god-fearing, gun-toting and ram-ranching even by Alberta standards. The PC’s were down from 72 to 61 seats in the assembly while Wildrose, still the official opposition, was 10 points behind them in the PV and only won 17. Many of those seats came from the re-election of former PC MLAs who crossed the floor during Stelbach’s term. 2012. If polls were right, most of this would have been green and Danielle Smith would be in charge a decade earlier. In 2014, the PC dynasty became the longest lasting in Albertan history. Also in 2014, Alison Redford resigned from the premiership with an 18% approval rating, being succeeded by cabinet minister Jim Prentice. The walls were falling in for the party, but as fate would have it, they were for the Wildrose party, too. Ten of their 17 MLAs, including Danielle Smith, defected to the PC Party citing concerns with Danielle Smith and her leadership. In 2015, when Prentice’s poll numbers actually looked okay for the first time in a while, he called an election. In short, a momentous fuck up. Both the Progressive Conservatives and the Wildrose party (now led by Brian Jean) were stuck in an endless cycle of chimpanzeenian shit flinging, and they divided the dominant right wing vote almost perfectly in half. Neither of them would win. Neither would the Alberta Liberal Party, the only non-conservative party with any legitimacy. Nay, after the 2015 election the majority in the legislative assembly was held by Rachel Notley’s social-democratic Alberta New Democratic Party. The NDP They, by virtue of being left of centre in Alberta, had been a meme party until the day they weren’t. They swept the capital city of Edmonton and (with an insane amount of protest voting and vote splitting, as they only got 40%) picked up dozens of seats in Calgary and the rurals. Needless to say, a big deal this was. 2015. Without near-perfect Wildrose/PC vote splitting, most of those Calgary and northern seats would not be orange. The PC party, Alberta's forever governors, had been relegated to the humiliating time out corner of third place. The Wildrose party became the official oppositing to the ANDP's governing majority. Notley and her party got adjusted to the position as well as they could have; oil prices were collapsing and the time, so her government put an intense focus on public works and on desperately needed diversification of what was basically resembled a Gulf State economy. She governed as a competent centrist, shying away from anything that could be seen as anti-capitalist or environmentalist. Alberta's NDP government openly clashed with neighbouring British Columbia's NDP government over the Trans-mountain pipeline, which shipped oil from the sands and wells in Alberta across the Rockies to ports in greater Vancouver. In American terms, she was a Blue Dog. She understood what she needed to do to win in her province. Regardless of what she did, though, she was not in any position to win. In 2017, the Progressive Conservatives elected Calgary MLA Jason Kenney as they leader, who ran with the intent of uniting the two right wing parties. This had happened on the federal level in 2003, and it led to Calgary's Stephen Harper being Prime Minister for over a decade after a long period of Liberal rule. Kenney did exactly that, and won the leadership contest of the new United Conservative Party with a wide majority. This was all happening while Justin Trudeau's federal Liberal government, which had just recently buried Harper in a landslide, was suffering enormous backlash in western Canada, mostly due to policies like his carbon tax, but also due to being Fr*nch and secretly Fidel's son. The 2019 federal election was fought largely on the environment and Greta Thunberg, and the federal Conservatives won unprecedented margins in the prairies, nearing 90% of the vote in some rural Alberta and Saskatchewan seats. The 2019 Albertan general election happened months before "how dare you", but it was much the same. Notley put up as much of a fight as she could, but the UCP still swept and won the PV by over 20 points. 2019, a 20 point UCP landslide. If the federal NDP did this well Jagmeet would be PM. It seemed as though 2015-2019 was just an aberration, and the newly formed UCP would govern for another half century until the next Wildrose saga. Kenney was governing exactly how a leader of a PC-Wildrose merger party would be expected to govern, and he wasn't facing much opposition from the centre right or the far right. Then COVID hit. Compared to most other premiers in the country and most other countries on earth, Kenney imposed moderate restrictions: a public health emergency and a vaccine passport. He tried to promote staying home, wearing masks, and getting vaccinated. He did this, however, while travelling out of province for the holidays. Decidedly not a good look. The former Wildrose wing of the party was pissed, to say the least. Over the span of 2021, he faced a barrage of attacks from hard right rural MPs in his own party, and bled continuously more support to QAnon-adjacent Alberta independence splinter parties. By now, the NDP had a considerable lead in provincial polls. In September of that year, his own party agreed to hold a no-confidence vote against him in the following spring due to him refusal to resign or abolish all COVID restrictions. He won that no-confidence motion with 51% percent of the vote, but resigned anyway in disgrace. It was Over. WHERE WE ARE NOW Running to replace him were hard right Brian Jean, hard right Todd Loewen, hard right Travis Toews, and of course, hard right Danielle Smith, who pretty narrowly beat Toews. A display of where the UPC was already heading, any moderates were more or less irrelevant in the race. Danielle Smith, once the undisputed leader of Alberta's Wildrose far right, was now its premier. And for the most part, she spends her days comparing vaccinated people to nazis (she half assed an apology to be fair) and whining about the WEF. I can fairly confidently say that she's insane, at least by Canadian standards if not by those of America. (I can give more examples of goofy shit she's uttered but I want to sleep right now). Have I mentioned that Alberta has a slight conservative tilt? You could definitely tell if you looked at opinion polls, where the UCP now has a very slight edge over the NDP despite Rachel Notley clearly distancing herself from the left, feuding with the federal New Democratic Party. I honestly believe that there's a large percentage of people in Alberta, maybe even close to 50%, who will start violently convulsing if they're forced to check a ballot for a left-leaning party. People who genuinely, truly believe that Notley is a tyrant and a communist. This brings us to now. A dead heat election between the UCP and NDP, uncannily similar to the 2020 presidential. The polarization and Americanization of our politics is rearing its ugly head. It's tearing so many families apart. These kinds of elections, be it Notley vs. Smith, Trump vs. Biden, Hobbs vs. Lake, all have this kind of desperate vibe. I'm sure you can feel it. You notice the desperation in the air if you went to Alberta anytime in the past couple months. I know a few people in Alberta, and I can almost sense it emanating from them. I've heard quite a few anecdotes about lifelong conservatives with, like, Margaret Thatcher figurines in jars, who are voting for their local NDP candidates this time around because they look at the present UCP and see only an imported brand of lunacy. There's another side, I'm sure, but I won't pretend to see it. I have no idea how this will pan out, and I don't know if I want to know. I'm typing this around midnight because this shit is just wild. It should not be like this. But this is how it is, and only time will tell what happens next. submitted by The_Transcendant to AngryObservation [link] [comments] |
2023.05.29 08:43 SilverWolf-Tamayuki Falls In Love With Highschool Sweet Heart and gets cheated on
In May of 2018 I (24 F) at the time started dating my high school sweetheart (27 M) we will call him (Calvin), I moved in with him shortly as he got honorable discharged from the marines for medical reason. I moved out of my grandmothers house from upper Marlboro MD with him to chase city VA to this plot of land that was about 4-5 hours away from family and friends. Anyways with him being the only child (because he was adopted) his mother gave him his grandparents property (they are no longer living and have passed on) so it was just me, him and my (4 year old) son and 87 and a half achars of land.
The property has 2 ponds on it with a Very long drive way with a lot of trees wildlife and space to start and new life and have a family on (or so I thought). The house was a single story with 3 bedrooms with one of the bedrooms (master bedroom) having a full bathroom and a guest bathroom (full) and a section of the house which we called the trophy room (just fyi his grandfather use to be a big game hunter) this room had animals mounted all over the place with BOXES of bullets everywhere, this room had a door that could be locked for child safety reason. There was a 2 way garage that was connected to the washer and dryer room that led to a separate section of the house we call the (apartment) it had its own small kitchen full bathroom with only one way out a sliding patio door that led back to this 2 way garage. behind the house was 1 huge barn where he kept everything needed to keep the property clean like (cutting the grass and maintaining the driveway). Also keep in mind we where living in the middle of nowhere in a small town where everyone knows everyone.
Anyways 2 years in our relationship goes by we have our ups and down I have caught him cheating before but this one tops to cake, So around this time I had just left my job working with tractor supply because his hours and mines conflicted and I decided to be a at home mom and take care of the animals and keep the house clean you know normal mom/girlfriend stuff, (we had 19 chickens 8 ducks and 5 cats and a ball python) most of the cats where out door cats. and most of the time I cooked dinner which he never ate and cleaned the whole house which I was never thanked for and kept the jungle under control until he got home. Around this time he recently decided to be a fire fighter this was around March of 2020 and had to attend a meeting it was about 4:30ish PM and he came back home around 7ish pm, we lived really close to town about 5-10mins away which is where the firehouse is. Me still having trust issues with him he decided to give me his captains number to contact if I could reach him, and his meeting was suppose to be only a hour long.
When he returned it was dark outside and he came in with the biggest smile on his face a started up a conversation with me that had me all happy and gitty and chatty as we were talking he asked me to help him with a project of course I decided to help. While playing animal crossing on my switch and doing his small project that he asked me to help with, I noticed he left out the side door to the 2 way garage to do something 5-mins goes by he came back into the house leaving the light on in the garage and in the laundry room. I thought it was weird because he tends to keep the lights of so the electric bill wont be so high, I then remembered I have to get the chickens and ducks more food I asked to use the car to go to tractor supply he agreed I got dressed and left out upon getting in the car (it was a 2016 Subaru outback btw) I noticed a box in the back seat I'm always leaving stuff in the care so I thought it was mines cause it had a few things in it the looked like it wasn't his.
(my phone was Turned off at the time) went to the store it was a 30min drive there and a 30min drive back from the Southhill area where the tractor supply was. As I was pulling up to the house driving down this long ass driveway and parking the car I noticed the front door was wide open, the porch light was on, all the lights in the Livingroom was on, including the kitchen light and both sides of the 2 way garage was open with those lights as well. I came into the house and asked Calvin to get the food out for me cause those bags was heavy as hell, I ask why all the light was on he said someone was here waiting for there friend to pick them up I assumed it was the room mates friend who was renting out the apartment we will call him (Dylan)... Dylan and his girlfriend went out with her 3 kids so i was confused on Who this friend was, Not pay to close attention to who this mystery person was I went outside to feed the animals did a few chores around the house and decided to take a shower and freshen up to finish gaming and relaxing for the night.
After I got dressed and dried my hair I opened our bedroom door and walked in the hallway close the door behind and see a small skinny 5'6ft tall girl come out our guest bathroom the hallway light wasn't on so I didn't get a good look at her as I walk up to her passing her she says "I like your nose ring" I reply thanks as I take a seat on the couch I notice Calvin and this girl make eye contact as she leave for the garage I ask Calvin "was that who you was talking about" he says "yeah that's (Mary) she is waiting on Dylan's best friend to pick her up maybe for drugs or something I don't know" I shrugged it off. Its crazy how us women know when our boyfriends are doing stupid shit, it was like a bad sinking feeling in my stomach.
The very next day me and Calvin spent the day together because he was off so we decided to watch a movie and cuddle on the couch, he fell asleep and I noticed he hid his phone between the couch cushion between me and him so I played it off and got up to use the bathroom and left him on the couch I waiting about 20mins or so before I put my plan into motion. I crawled on the floor like I was a secret agent and slowly took his phone, I am very smart when it comes to phones and computers and found out he had Verizon (and if you must know if you download the Verizon messenger app on your phone which is free you can see all deleted and new messages on anyone's phone but they need to have Verizon in order to use it) anyways I downloaded the app and put his number in which sent a verification number that I had to put in to even see his messages then deleted the verification text messages off his phone and gave him back his phone and went through every message from my phone.
This is where the story get really fucked up!!!! When I went to get food for the animals remember when I said he was out longer then he was suppose to be for his fire fighter meeting, the reason it took longer then it was suppose to was because he went to pick Mary up from her place to bring her back to our place, and he played it off like she got dropped off by someone (cause I had the car to go to the store) he had her get out the car as soon as he got home told her to go around the house to wait for him at the backdoor (there is a separate door you can go through in the 2 way garage) the stuff that was in the back seat in that box was her stuff while I was gone he let her in while I was gone and had sex with her in our roommates space on his bed and continued to text her while I was in the same room as him.
I confronted him showing him the proof waking up from his nap he was confused and I explained what I found how I knew and like most cheaters do he lied to my face. I almost lost my cool and pulled a knife out on him but at that point I lost faith in him I packed all my stuff that same night and as he was about to drive me home not even 5-mins away from the house we pulled over and talked deciding to take a break. so I packed a few things and he dropped me off to spend a week with my mom we swapped phones (that was his way of proving he wouldn't talk to her no more but you already know where this about to go). him being dumb as hell he forgot I had his phone so even if his password for his snapchat or any of is social media changed I could change them to see what he was doing, as I looked at his snap he had unblocked her and that bitch was staying the night at our place cuddling with my cats in my bed, she sent pictures to him so I decided to pretend to be him and asked if she was still there and she said she was. I called Dylan's girlfriend by phone we will call her (Rachel) we are still close friends to this day, I asked her to go over to the house to see if anyone was there. She said she didn't see anyone but she texted me and told me she was in the house laying in our bed.
I messaged her threatening to call the police she left out the house and yes I was sad I cried and I was angry he was the worst of the worst and I wouldn't wish being cheated on not on my worst enemy. To this day he is single none of his friends talk to him anymore and he always tries to text me pretending to be my friend cause he could never have anyone better, and me as of right now, in a amazing relationship with someone who respects me and my son I have a job my own place and a car and also planning on getting married next year in October of 2024.
