10 gauge extension cord replacement ends
Fans don't spin and I'm about to throw the whole thing through the window :(
2023.06.10 22:24 a1ex1s Fans don't spin and I'm about to throw the whole thing through the window :(
I tested both of them and they do work
I checked that they are connected in the right place
I did a full reset and even flashed the original firmware
They still don't spin and filament gets clogged all the way to the top of the hot end.
When I turn on the printer, no fan starts, only the one in the PSU. (board / hot end / layer, all off).
After 10 minutes of inactivity the hot end fan starts spinning and it continues for 10 minutes, but then it turns off.
If the hot end fan is spinning and I go to the fan speed in the settings, and modify it, 1 - 255 it stops and never starts again, even if I restart the printer.
I'm about to loose my mind.
Is there a special command or something that I can use to start all fans? I tried Gcode M107 M106 and it's the same story.
Should I replace the whole motherboard? I'm so frustrated...

2023.06.10 22:18 MorningOwlK [Rant] Did I get unlucky, or is my experience typical?
Tldr; received two defective replacement mainboards and after an RMA, my keyboard suddenly died. Is this normal?
I have an original 11th gen Intel Framework from a pretty early batch. All was fine until the battery issue came up. You know the one; you don't use the device for two days and then it won't turn on unless plugged in, despite it being fully charged.
It was under warranty, and this was before Framework knew that this was a widespread design defect, so they shipped me a replacement mainboard.
The replacement mainboard (refurb board; had somebody else's Windows 10 home license tied to it) had a defective USB port; it would work for charging but wouldn't work for data. I spent a long time being jerked around by support before they decided yes, this is indeed a hardware issue and not software. We tried the usual fixes on my end and it didn't help. They sent another replacement mainboard.
The next replacement mainboard (apparently new, or so I was told) had a defective audio device. The audio never worked, through speakers or through the 3.5mm port. The audio was fine on all previous boards, so extremely unlikely that this was due to a software problem. Got jerked around for close to a month by support, but they eventually decided to RMA my whole laptop. They probably thought I was full of **** and was just trying to waste their time. Low and behold, I got an email from them that yes, the audio device was defective.
Got my laptop back. Everything is fine for a few days, then out of the blue, a few of the keys on my keyboard stop working. I plug in an external keyboard and it's all fine. I do the usual; reseat everything, disconnect/reconnect cables, etc. Sometimes it helps for a few minutes, but then the problem will come back.
I'm not going to bother contacting support because by now my laptop is far out of warranty. I'm buying a replacement cover kit. It's better than buying a whole new laptop but damn... I don't understand how every single time somebody in their refurb or quality control team touches something, it goes wrong on my end.
Am I alone in getting multiple lemon parts?

2023.06.10 22:15 One_Avocado_9825 Post for discussing ways to balance Aegis/make them more faithful to Xenoblade (spoilers for Xc2 if you care)
I know a lot of people here really hate Aegis, and I think they could've made them more faithful to Xenoblade, so let's so if we can come to a middle ground here.
I'll start with my ideas; I'll start with the nerfs and then cover the new things.
1) you pick one or the other at the start of the match and that's what you get for the match, there's an exception to that, but I'll get into that later.
2) both of their attributes are slightly toned down, Mythra loses some of her speed and maybe one frame on all of her moves along with a frame more of end lag and Pyra gets her damage and knockback reduced by say, 5-10%
Now to cover the new stuff
1) just like from Xenoblade you get a party gauge that fills up slowly over time but can be sped up a bit by attack people, there are 3 segments to this. Switching between Pyra and Mythra takes a half a segment.
2) since obviously you won't always have access to swapping those down b is changed to a counter, but not a normal counter. It has a max damage barrier of 50% and doesn't reflect damage, it only prevents you from taking it and it only works from the front, like K.Rool's, and swapping is changed to the Kazuya gates of hell input (down-down forward-down)
3) this is perhaps the biggest change, but if you get to full party gauge you can input change and it will change you into Pneuma, but don't worry, she's not the win button like in Xenoblade, she simply strikes a middle ground where she has most of Mythra's combo potential and I'd say like 75% of Pyra's damage. She's also slightly above average speed and in the middle of the two in terms of weight.
It also only lasts until you either die or take a stock from someone
Now to explain Pneuma's moveset The only things that really get changed are her specials.
Up special: Genesis Saber This attack is very similar to octoslash, except it doesn't have two stages, in the game this is a projectile attack, but I didn't want her to become a Zoner
Neutral Special: Starburst It works similar to Kazuya neutral b, except it has 3 stages of change which can be stored, it also takes longer to come out that Kazuya's but in turn it does more damage, at lowest charge it does 5%, medium it does 10% and at max it does 20%, although it takes around 5 seconds to max charge.
Side special: Radiant flare This attack works similarly to Greninja shadow sneak, it makes you invisible and lets you select where you want to strike with a decently visible green light on the ground to show where you're aiming, it has similar kill power to Meta Knights version of this move and does put you into free fall
Final Smash, this is Pneuma's tier 4 blade art "Infinity Blade" if you don't know what it looks like I'll link a video to it in the description
It does 60% from a smash ball and kills at mid percent at ledge

2023.06.10 22:03 Boris_de_Animal We owe ourselves this year’s CL.
I can’t believe what I am seeing. Inter Milan have been to brilliant. And to think that we beat this same team home and away without conceding. We we’re already a goal down by this point in 1st leg City game. Whether it was a issue of player beef, managerial problems ,finishing/poor conversion and defensive lapses or a culmination of all of them, we definitely should have made it to this final whether or not we end up winning. I hope that we resolve these transfer speculations/ contract extension decisions soon so that we can prep for next year. We definitely owe it to this ourselves to atone for this disaster class season. Having said all that , I hear that Rice/Vlahovic/ Rabiot are probably out of question for us. Who do you guys think we should go for /will realistically land ? Like is Amrabat that bad a replacement for Rice? Should we be going all out for Kolo since Kane/Osimhen are never happening? What about players that should consider leaving? I think Mane/Sane definitely deserve another chance. Goretzka/Gnabry maybe not so as much. Looking for genuine opinions.

2023.06.10 22:01 Hectorhairyhands 10 grams and a ZAP: a mushroom and THC trip report
The full video has been posted to YouTube for your viewing pleasure.
https://youtu.be/RnTXCrWepio 10 grams and a Zap: a psilocybin mushroom and THC report.
Before I get into the report, let me tell you a bit about myself.
I am a young man who has been experimenting with psilocybin mushrooms for six months.
I have a high tolerance for mushrooms and THC, usually 8 grams is enough to get me quite high but anything lower than that is very manageable for me.
I start feeling the effects of edible THC at 50 mg.
I have an addictive personality and have a tendency to hyper fixate on things.
Right now I like mushrooms.
But enough about me, let’s get into it.
Preparation:
I got home from work at 3:45 pm on a Thursday, blended 10 grams of blue meanies and put the kettle on to boil.
I put the the mushrooms in a tea strainer, added a healthy shot of lemon juice, added some caffeine free herbal tea, and then took 200 mg of edible THC.
When the hot water was ready I poured into the cup, adding more lemon juice, then I went to take a shower while the mushrooms steeped.
I came back ten minutes later and stirred the tea with a fork for five minutes. Lastly I added some honey.
Trip report:
T+0: I consume the tea of the course of five minutes. When I finish my tea I go up stairs and lay down in my bed.
T+10: the come up starts… Blue meanies kick in faster than cubensis strains and the lemon and hot water broke down the psilocybin so the onset is very fast.
T+30 I am full on TRIPPIN. Distortion waves fill my vision and sparks start to crackle when I look around.
When I close my eyes I can see the visualization of sound waves as if shown on recording equipment.
T+40: I get the bright idea to go make a video in the woods while tripping on mushrooms.
I wanted to make sure my phone was fully charged so I got my battery pack to charge it. The pack was nearly dead so I decided to plug it in to the wall.
The outlet already had a plug in it and must have been faulty, because the second I plugged the cord in..
ZAP!
I hear a click, see a pop of blue sparks. And then got electrocuted. It was a fraction of a second and then it was gone.
I unplugged the batter and sat down on the floor to make sure I was ok.
T+50: I decided I was alright after a few minutes in the floor.
I got up and put the battery pack on the counter and plugged it into a different outlet.
Now here’s where things really start to go sideways.
I got close to the battery and the mushrooms told me to tense my hand.
I tended my hand as hard as I could about 8 inches from the battery.
You can choose to believe me or not but hand to God, I heard a pop and saw a spark spear between my hand and the battery.
The minute after it happened I noticed that I could feel electrical currents moving through my body.
I was able to pull the energy from the battery and into myself.
I sat down on the couch and wrote a poem.
I was rubbing my arm on the couch and suddenly I got electrocuted again.
The static build up shocked me like a jolt from an outlet.
This is when I panicked.
I suddenly realized that everything was electrocuting me. My clothes, wall outlets and batteries.
If I got too close to a power source I’d start to draw in the power.
I called my brother and he came to sit me.
I shook his hand and thanked him for coming and got electrocuted just from touching his hand.
I went into the back yard, got into my swing and covered myself in blankets. I stayed there for a few hours chatting with my family while I calmed down.
It’s now the next day and I can still feel electricity. When I touch my phone with two hands I form a circuit and my back starts to tense up from the electricity.
This is for Paul Stamets and Andrew Huberman. If you are watching this please reach out. I could use some assistance with this new found condition.
Thank you for listening. If you made it to the end, please subscribe to the channel. It’s free to you and helps me keep making content.
Cheers!

2023.06.10 21:55 AutoModerator [Genkicourses.site] [Get] Chris Orzechowski – Badass Black Friday Bundle - Full Course Download
| ➡️ https://www.genkicourses.site/product/chris-orzechowski-badass-black-friday-bundle/⬅️ Get the course here: [Genkicourses.site] [Get] Chris Orzechowski – Badass Black Friday Bundle - Full Course Download What You Get: Course #1 Black Friday Bootcamp This is a short course I created for one of my e-commerce coaching groups. It outlines the high level strategy you need to use to MAXIMIZE sales for BFCM. I go over everything from how to map out your promo calendar… what emails to send when… exactly when you should START and FINISH your promo(s)… and, most importantly… … how to STAND OUT and grab attention in an overcrowded inbox, so you can break every sales record. Once you watch this mini-course, you’re going to be pumping out high-converting BFCM campaigns in no time! Course #2 Make It Rain Monthly BFCM/Q4 Planning Call This is a special “members-only” coaching call I recorded with a handful of my top students to help them prepare their clients’ brands for BFCM success. I even critique (and edit) a few of my students’ BFCM emails during this call. You can look over my shoulder and see how I think about constructing these email campaigns and sequences – super valuable! Course #3 Make It Rain Monthly Issue #8 The Black Friday / Cyber MondayMEGA Issue Part 1 - My “A-Z” roadmap for creating highly profitable Cyber Week email marketing campaigns.
- The FIRST email you should send in the month of November, to increase the sales you make from every email you send for the next six weeks (I actually wrote this email for you. You can swipe it verbatim. Just swap in some small details about your business, hit send, and watch the sales start rolling in.)
- How to map out a three-month promotional calendar in less than 60 minutes. (Plus, how to come up with the topics to send, on which days, to the right subscribers.)
- What to do (instead of just giving a discount or giving a bonus) that’ll incite a buying frenzy, generate word of mouth buzz, create raving fans, AND could possibly lead to record-breaking sales.
- A breakdown of a collection of BFCM emails, including some from a sequence that brought in six-figures in one week flat.
Course #4 Make It Rain Monthly Issue #9 The Black Friday / Cyber MondayMEGA Issue Part 2 - The “Magic Box” Method I used to free up 25 hours of creative time on my calendar, so I could get more work done in less time, with less stress… and more time to myself.
- The biggest mistake I made as I began growing my team… and how I fixed it so everyone could perform at a higher, more autonomous level.
- How to finally get clear on what you want in life… and how to go get it.
- Why trying to be a ‘cool boss’ might hurt your team more than help it.
- One psychological insight that’ll make selling to ‘people with money’ 10x easier. This works especially well if you’re selling a high-end product/high-ticket service.
- One software that can cut your weekly call volume down by 70% (or more).
- The “AC” email promotion that’ll send your Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales through the roof.
- How to scoop up TONS of sales from people who didn’t buy from your BF/CM campaign.
- Why giving a discount might actually HURT your sales and turn off a large percentage of your customers.
- When to use a discount vs other types of offers in your emails (they both work and can both be used strategically… but you’ve gotta do this right.)
- How to instantly induce an “I’ve gotta spend money with this brand” feeling in your customers… even if they weren’t planning on buying anything five minutes before seeing your email.
- A breakdown of a six-figure BF/CM email campaign (meaning: we actually ran this for one of my e-commerce clients and generated six-figures in sales with it).
- A two-word subject line you can use on Black Friday to stick out like a sore thumb and get your subscribers’ attention… even when everyone else is screaming about their sales.
- The one type of campaign you should run if you feel like offering discounts ‘cheapens’ your brand.
- How to adapt this campaign for OTHER holidays throughout the year (like Mother’s Day & Father’s Day). I even riffed off a quick email hook you can keep in your back pocket until spring.
Course #5 Make It Rain Monthly Issue #20 The Black Friday / Cyber Monday2021 Gameplan - The SMS Sign Up Sequence that helped us grow an SMS list by 1,000+ subscribers while generating $10,000+ in sales.
- How to make a TON of sales on Thanksgiving… without pissing off everyone on your list. (In fact, people will be giddy with anticipation if you do this promo right.)
- A psychological trigger you can use in your copy that makes your customers go crazy for your products.
- Why BFCM21 is going to look very different than years past… and the changes you should make to your strategy to stand out in the inbox (and make a ton of sales).
- How the smartest marketers and brand owners are adapting to iOS14 and iOS15 (and the big shift you need to make to thrive).
- Will SMS marketing replace or kill email? My surprising answer on page 3.
- How to dramatically increase your EHR (effective hourly rate)… so you can increase profits while working less.
- Insights from an SMS campaign I ran back in 2017 that worked incredibly well… and got people asking us to send them MORE texts (it’s a cool approach you can adapt for your own brand).
- How to write headlines and subject lines that trigger INSTANT curiosity… that suck your prospects in and DEMAND attention. (Try this with your landing pages and advertorial pages and watch your click-thrus SKYROCKET)
- The #1 copy mistake I see most copywriters and brand owners make with ALL of their emails, landing pages, ads, video scripts, and more.
- Fix this one thing and you’ll be amazed at how much better your copy reads and converts.
- How to get your customers to ‘think past the sale’ and get emotionally attached to your product… so they feel compelled to buy. (Sneaky… but powerful. And yes, totally ethical.)
- 6 SMS messages that ‘primed the pump’ for our sales pitches… while making our customers feel a rush of positive thoughts and emotions.
- The secret to writing tighter, pithier copy.
- 3 copy principles for high converting SMS messages.

- What almost EVERYONE gets wrong about Gary Vee’s jab-jab-jab-right hook approach to marketing… and why it might be the smartest tactic to use come this Q4 (and beyond).
- 5 more SMS list building examples that can get you a TON of new subscribers while making lots of “easy sales” in the process.
- How to use email to ‘scoop up’ buckets of new buyers… even the people who DON’T buy from you.
- Are you scared of emailing too often? Check out the tip on page 22 that’ll reduce your complaints and increase your sales.
- The four core campaigns EVERY brand should be running on a monthly basis… even if you’re not in e-com. (I use this with my own list and it works incredibly well.)
Course #6 Holiday Sale Super Sequence Want to scoop up even MORE sales during the holidays (without the hassle of figuring out your promo calendar)? This Holiday Sale Super Sequence is based on campaigns I still run for my agency clients that generate anywhere between $30-$50K — without fail. Comes with SIX email templates, a quick-start implementation video and super secret bonus. So if you want to generate massive sales easily every time there’s a holiday… then this training is going to help you make that happen. This sequence is PERFECT for BFCM… but you can even modify it to run other holiday sales throughout the year. 2023.06.10 21:45 bd35 Green Sun's Zenith vs Finale of Devastation
I have a
Commander Cube that doesn't run a ton of tutor effects but has about one per color. My list currently includes [[Green Sun's Zenith]] and I'm considering replacing it with [[Finale of Devastation]]. I don't think I want to run both.
I like the better cost efficiency of GSZ and the fact that you can shuffle it back in to use again in the later game. However, I like the fact that FoD can pull from the graveyard and can potentially end the game with the 10+ X clause.
I'm curious what everyone's opinions are on these two cards. What have you noticed if you've ran one over the other. Thanks for any advice or thoughts!

2023.06.10 21:45 autumn_em Job 38 🌌
38 Then Jehovah answered Job out of the windstorm: 2 “Who is this who is obscuring my counsel And speaking without knowledge? 3 Brace yourself, please, like a man; I will question you, and you inform me. 4 Where were you when I founded the earth? Tell me, if you think you understand. 5 Who set its measurements, in case you know, Or who stretched a measuring line across it? 6 Into what were its pedestals sunk, Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars joyfully cried out together, And all the sons of God began shouting in applause? 8 And who barricaded the sea behind doors When it burst out from the womb, 9 When I clothed it with clouds And wrapped it in thick gloom,10 When I established my limit for it And put its bars and doors in place, 11 And I said, ‘You may come this far, and no farther; Here is where your proud waves will stop’? 12 Have you ever commanded the morning Or made the dawn know its place, 13 To take hold of the ends of the earth And to shake the wicked out of it? 14 It is transformed like clay under a seal, And its features stand out like those of a garment.15 But the light of the wicked is held back from them, And their uplifted arm is broken.16 Have you gone down to the sources of the sea Or explored the deep waters? 17 Have the gates of death been revealed to you, Or have you seen the gates of deep darkness? 18 Have you understood the vast expanse of the earth? Tell me, if you know all of this.19 In which direction does the light reside? And where is the place of darkness, 20 That you should take it to its territory And understand the paths to its home? 21 Do you know this because you were already born And the number of your years is great? 22 Have you entered the storehouses of the snow, Or have you seen the storehouses of the hail, 23 Which I have reserved for the time of distress ,For the day of battle and war? 24 From what direction is light dispersed, And from where does the east wind blow on the earth? 25 Who has cut a channel for the flood And made a path for the thunderous storm cloud, 26 To make it rain where no man lives, On the wilderness where there are no humans, 27 To satisfy devastated wastelands And cause the grass to sprout? 28 Does the rain have a father, Or who fathered the dewdrops? 29 From whose womb did the ice emerge, And who gave birth to the frost of heaven 30 When the waters are covered as if with stone, And the surface of the deep waters is frozen solid? 31 Can you tie the ropes of the Kiʹmah constellation Or untie the cords of the Keʹsil constellation? 32 Can you lead out a constellation in its season Or guide the Ash constellation along with its sons?33 Do you know the laws governing the heavens, Or can you impose their authority on the earth?34 Can you raise your voice to the clouds To cause a flood of water to cover you? 35 Can you send out lightning bolts? Will they come and say to you, ‘Here we are!’ 36 Who put wisdom within the clouds Or gave understanding to the sky phenomenon? 37 Who is wise enough to count the clouds, Or who can tip over the water jars of heaven 38 When the dust pours into a mass And the clods of earth stick together? 39 Can you hunt prey for a lion Or satisfy the appetites of young lions 40 When they crouch in their lairs Or lie in ambush in their dens? 41 Who prepares food for the raven When its young cry to God for help And wander about because there is nothing to eat?.

2023.06.10 21:42 honkoku Downloading all pictures
I was looking around for how to do this and found a variety of responses that involved scripts, extensions, 22-step procedures, external programs, and such.
Maybe they changed the interface since these were written, but here's all I had to do:
- Go to your bucket and hit "select" so that you can start selecting pictures
- Click the first picture
- Scroll all the way down to the end of your pictures, hold down shift, and click the final picture
- Click "download" and wait a couple of minutes
This will give you a zip file with all your pictures in it. I had over 3100 in my bucket and this whole process took 5-10 minutes.

2023.06.10 21:41 CptChaz Did I get a good deal on this wrecked & repaired 2020 M3? What to expect next...
First time Tesla owner, and I was in the market for an additional car to buy for the Turo platform, i.e. this is not my daily driver.
Found a 2020 M3, AWD LR. white exterior and leather seats. Car only has 2,800 miles on it. I found it at an equipment dealership of all places (dozers, tractors, etc) and somehow they had this. Said they were just looking to liquidate it. They offered full disclosure on it, car had been wrecked and because the airbag deployed, the insurance totaled it. however, the title is still clear, no salvage! I have seen the title first hand, and it is clear. It was repaired for the most part, i'll list some issues down below. But they had it listed for 36k, long story short i talked them down to $30k before tt&l. tires are like new, and factory charge cable included.
I found some other minor issues on the car that they either didn't know about, but i also found this car has purchased full FSD beta on it, so that sealed the deal for me. With so much factory warranty still left on the car, i decided to roll the dice and hope that Tesla service would keep me from having too much of a repair on the remaining issues, which are as follows:
- cracked windshield (neglected rock chip that spread, obviously not covered by warranty)
- Fairly scary error messages on the screen: traction control disabled, auto emergency brake disabled, parking brake error, no regen
- Error about needing a steering alingment
- the driver side camera is completely off, so, so far no cruise / fsd
- driver door window doesn't go up/down when opening or closing the door, but ironically still works otherwise
- a few damaged window buttons on the door handles (already ordered replacements from amazon)
- front passenger foglight is out
- driver seatbelt tensioner is stuck halfway, needs replaced
- missing hood ornament (already ordered replacement)
- no floor mats
- needs a good detail job after not being driven much in 2 years
That's about all i can think of. i figured even if i end up putting a couple grand back in repairs, i still come out ahead for a car with less than 3k miles on it. I'm also still waiting for the tesla account to be transferred to me via uploading purchase docs and registration in the app, so i haven't been able to schedule service yet. TBH, the error messages and camera are what have me most worried.
So, overall, do you think i got a deal? Worst case or best case scenario? how easy is scheduling with Tesla service? What do you think will be covered under warranty and what wont?

2023.06.10 21:37 12nb34 (8/8) have an impact on the afternoon’s rail services and possibly for the rest of week. “We are working with Transdev to minimise disruption to passengers.” 📆 10 Jun 2023 📰 Covid-19: Virus in Auckland wastewater rises, reported cases drop as city bus drivers fall ill 🗞️ New Zealand Herald 🔚
Auckland wastewater results show levels of Covid-19 in the community are higher than officially reported as commuters faced fresh disruptions this week after a “surge” in bus drivers falling ill with the virus.
Latest Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) results show Covid in wastewater across Auckland more than doubled in the past week.
In the same time period the cases reported to the Ministry of Health dropped around 20%.
Elsewhere across New Zealand the level of reported cases and wastewater results matched.
The latest results were posted on Thursday and account for the previous week ending Sunday, June 4.
It comes as Auckland Transport battles a fresh surge of infections among bus drivers on key routes connecting downtown Auckland to the North Shore.
Commuters using the normally busy public transport link were advised this week they could expect services to be disrupted.
“Due to a Covid surge NX1 and NX2 buses are experiencing increased cancellations,” the notification read. Auckland Transport has been approached for comment.
Further south as many as 25 Metlink frontline staff were off sick with Covid in Wellington with a number of trains in the capital deemed not safe to operate.
Metlink acting Group Manager Fiona Abbott said 11 rush hour services on the Hutt Valley line were replaced with buses yesterday.
“We understand our customers’ frustration at having their morning commute disrupted by the outbreak. Regrettably, it is very difficult to source additional bus replacements during peak times due to the limited number of available buses and drivers.
She said Metlink was keenly aware the outbreak would have an impact on the afternoon’s rail services and possibly for the rest of week. We are working with Transdev to minimise disruption to passengers.”

2023.06.10 21:31 Borzadatan Teacher and Life-long Democrat, switching to Republican party because I think Republicans hate teachers less than Democrats.
This is my opinion. I'm curious if you can relate, so I'm putting this out there. I'm a relatively new teacher, I live in California, I work for a public school district, and I am switching my party affiliation from Democrat to Republican for the first time in my entire life solely because I am so utterly disgusted with the way Democrats treat teachers, and I have come to the conclusion that Republicans hate teachers less than Democrats do. As mentioned, I'm a relatively new teacher. I've taught for a few years now, have received only positive evaluations, and the entire school community has really embraced me. It's a really nice feeling, and I'm proud of my efforts. I really enjoy helping students, and find the job, overall, very challenging, and also, at times, very intellectually rewarding. I'm not entirely sure if I'll remain a teacher or not, over the long haul, given the low pay, other potentially more rewarding, interesting employment opportunities, the lack of interest in focusing on Academic Learning, particularly among Democrats, the current climate in our schools, an overall lack of professional support and respect from some students, parents, and administrators, and considering how I may wish to spend my time. I've completed new teacher "induction," and have taken the many, many, many, many overtly bureaucratic, costly barriers that Democrats have championed, including: a Teacher Credentialing program, two semesters of unpaid Student Teaching hours, the CSET, both CalTPA1 and CalTPA2, the RICA, and New Teacher Induction. These are all requirements to earn a teaching credential in California. All of this has cost a great deal of time and money, in an economy where inflation has spiked, and the cost of living continues to rapidly rise. Unless and until you've actually had to endure teacher credentialing requirements in California, it's really difficult to convey how restrictive, stupid, costly, bureaucratic, and completely unhelpful the entire process really is. To say the whole process feels like a complete waste of time and money is a huge understatement. Here's a short summary of what each of these barriers entails (failure to pass literally any of these means you can't earn a teaching credential in California): Teacher Credentialing Program: 1-year university level program costing thousands of dollars, and an investment of time involving numerous classes on various theoretical aspects of teaching. Some of it was interesting, most of it felt like being held hostage. Unpaid Student Teaching Hours: Two school semesters of unpaid work requiring me to shadow a classroom teacher, where I also had to prepare and adminster classroom plans and lessons, meet with my mentor teacher, and prepare written analysis of those plans. Much of it felt like an exercise in box checking. Again, this was a one-year unpaid commitment. Did I say it was UNPAID? CSET High-stakes standardized general subject multiple choice and short answer tests, supposedly to gauge minimum proficiency. Costs a hundred dollars for each test attempt, whether you pass or fail. Felt like a high stakes test designed to make money for testing companies. (I'm not sure, but I believe the CSET may now have waiver options, but I don't know the details of how restrictive available waiver options may or may not be.) CalTPA1 and CalTPA2 Mind-numbingly, completely useless bureaucratic high-stakes standardized assessments filled to the brim with education speak and terminology that I have never used and will never use in the classroom. Candidates prepare by reading a test booklet that frequently makes contradictory statements and assertions, and lacks clear, presentable information that can be deduced on a Prima Facie basis. When the candidate seeks to find meaningful definitions that would dilineate what the test administrators are actually looking for, the booklet provides vague information, at best. The test administrators don't provide any resources outside of this simple booklet. None whatsoever. Literally. The worst part of these assessments is that, when a candidate fails, they aren't provided any feedback as to why they failed, and how a candidate could remedy their failure. Instead, the candidate is provided with a "Condition Code" which is supposed to indicate where the deficiency lies -- but, in reality, the provided code doesn't yield any information that a candidate could reasonably use to understand why the test administrators made a failure determination. In my university credentialing program, I spoke with many students who failed, and who did not know why they were determined to have failed - that is, what exact criteria was used to make such a determination. Even after having spoken with our college professors, most still did not understand why the test administrators had made such a determination. I was present where many of these conversations between professors and students took place, and most often, the professors would say that the test administrators had made a subjective determination. The professors even sometimes said they did not understand why some assessment submissions were accepted while others were rejected. In other words, the failure determination was completely arbitrary, and not rooted in any objective, measurable manner. This high stakes test costs $150 for each attempt, whether a candidate passes or not. Huge money making opportunity for the testing company. RICA High-stakes standardized multiple choice and short answer tests that ask test takers to choose the best strategy among several teaching reading strategies that could be used in a variety of classroom settings, in order to supposedly show that the candidate understands how to best serve students learning how to read. Among the questions, oftentimes several of the various strategies could be helpful for student(s) if administered in the real world -- however, given the high stakes nature of the test -- unless the candidate chooses the exact absolute "best" strategy -- and there is only one correct answer according to the test administrators -- the candidate may fail the test. Candidates must pass several different tests, and each test costs $57 for each attempt. Two Years of "New Teacher Induction" Two years of regular meetings after school with my mentor teacher, writing analysis of classroom lesson plans and student performance. There was an additional requirement to attend periodic Professional Development meetings and Teacher Induction Meetings after school, during the school year. While it could possibly be argued that this provided an opportunity to bond with my mentor teacher, and/or fellow new teachers, I achieved and would have achieved all of that without this requirement, and the entire experience felt like a huge time suck and exercise in box checking. None of this was paid training. Who pushes all of the above? Democrats. These are their best ideas on how to help bridge the achievement gap. They've been doing this for years, if not decades. What's astounding is that these standards have been developed by the absolute highest of "education experts". These are their best ideas? Some are politicians. Some are "education reformers." Some work for non-profits. Some earn several hundred thousand dollars per year, to write research reports and lobby politicians on which "best teaching practices" they should adopt. Don't believe me? Look at their salaries and backgrounds. I have. As non-profits, with 501(c)3 tax exempt status, their income information is publicly accessible. Astoundingly, some "leaders" earn well over $400,000 per year. In my opinion, with salaries like these , they should be required to be registered as for profit organizations. Being an "education leader" can be a very lucrative business model, and should be taxed as such. Some have taught for five minutes before leaving the classroom, so they can claim to have been a classroom teacher. They seem to really enjoy writing about and giving speeches celebrating how we have to act with a sense of urgency, you know, because it's all about the children. Many of these individuals and organizations are connected with Democratic policy and lawmakers. Oh, and the best part -- they love children so much that they do everything possible to stay as far away from them as possible. In other words, they like to say they have a different role, that they can make more of an impact -- you know -- OUTSIDE OF THE CLASSROOM. They like to raise money to fund "research studies" backing up the supposed science of all of this -- yet, what's unmistakeable is, they have a clear bias and agenda, and there's no objectively reliable, measurement tool in which to determine teacher effectiveness. There is absolutely an undeniable subjective aspect to determining teacher effectiveness. If I am incorrect in making such an assertion, what standardized assessment tool exists today that is used to measure teacher effectiveness, that has been reliably proven - over time - to be an objectively effective measurement tool used to gauge teacher effectiveness? If such a study exists supporting a particular assessment tool, has the study been subject to and adhered to Double Blind Peer Review guidelines, to reduce the chance of bias? The answer is no and no. In other words, they claim that these standards help prepare teachers, but their determinations are entirely subjective, and they have a clear economic interest in pushing these proposals. In my opinion, they make these claims because such messaging resonates with Democratic politicians and voters, and that helps keep the donor dollars rolling in. The wheel greases itself. Not a bad business model if you want to make alot of money. What seems to happen with education policy is that every few years education "leaders" write and create "newer and better" standards to help better prepare teachers. They talk about replacing various barriers, which they do as they end up creating new barriers that are just as ridiculous, unhelpful, and also huge time sucks and money grifting opportunities for "education leaders". This doesn't mean Republicans get a clear pass, of course. I don't like that Republicans dislike unions. While I do think some unions are useless for members, generally, union membership leads to better wages and working conditions, and, in my opinion, teachers, at least, are still underpaid. But, to me, that's the only plus that Democrats have. Other than that, Republicans generally want to ease these types of restrictive, costly, useless credentialing requirements. And, sure, while Republicans want to do silly, harmful things like banning some books, and I'm not in favor of that, all of the above is still far much more harmful to teachers and schools than book banning. And through all of this, Democrats don't even bother to acknowledge that teachers are human beings who can and should have interests and lives outside of the classroom, and how important it is to balance personal and work life, in order to be happy. Instead, teachers are treated as cogs on a wheel, to be cranked and turned as much as they want, without regard to impact. Meanwhile, in the minds of Democrats, this is all okay because they acknowledge how important we are when they give their same, boring predictable speeches. And while Republicans also want to ban the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT), I can live with that, as I don't teach CRT anyway (and I don't know anybody who teaches CRT). In other words, where Democrats like to create obstacles to prevent me from spending time, you know, actually teaching students, at least Republicans seem to want to let me do my job as an educator. Just with fewer books. That's a better option, in my view. Worse yet, Democrats are supposedly the ones who celebrate teachers. With friends like these, who needs enemies? Many Democratic leaders have also been strong champions of Charter Schools. Keeping my options open, when I was looking, I interviewed with several charter schools, and charter school chains, and had strong interest among several. From what I saw, when exploring options, the biggest difference between traditional public schools and publicly funded, privately run charter schools is that the charters require teachers to work longer hours for lower pay, and with zero professional protections in the event issues arise. They can fire you at any time, for any reason, without recourse, and can direct you to stay at school until any hour, if they so chose. All of the charters I interviewed with expressed that there were issues with student discipline (just like traditional public schools also expressed, when I was looking), and none of their publicly available test data indicated any higher degree of student achievement (considering that test scores are currently the barometer that most people like to use to measure student achievement). Given options, why would I want to choose to work longer hours for lower pay, without a contract and contractual protections, especially when you consider that student outcomes were essentially the same? Considering all of the above efforts, at what other cost is the promotion of the above standards and efforts to "improve" our schools? What is the opportunity cost? Where is parental accountability? Student accountability? Administrative accountability? Student discipline in schools? Any effort to provide smaller class sizes and higher wages? Any effort to teach critical-thinking skills? Any effort to acknowledge that teachers should have healthy, well-balanced lives outside of the classroom? These proposals have all been discarded by the Democratic Party who instead have chosen to wholly focus on "teacher accountability." In fact, both Democrats and Republicans love to push that narrative. Gee, with efforts like these, how could there possibly be a teacher shortage? How could there possibly be an achievement gap? All of this would be a joke if it didn't actually harm the efforts of people who actually want to help students -- you know -- teachers. Possibly the worst part of all of the above is that, not only are all these barriers counter-productive in terms of serving the needs of students, in all likelihood, they also serve to discourage professionals who may otherwise have the skillset to become successful educators - but decide not to take a second look because of the vast bureaucratic waste of time and income loss they would have to subject themselves to. Do we need standards? Of course. We have existing standards already in place that we could use. For example, college degrees from accredited educational institutions, and criminal background checks. Apparently that's too low a bar for "education reformers." They want a piece of the pie - they want their cut, and they want to feel like they've done something to improve schools. So they enact more standards. Then, after a few years, and conditions haven't improved, they repackage and re-sell their latest well-funded shiny objects, claiming that they've now figured out the secret sauce. Then they give a few speeches congratulating each other, and go out to dinner. A few years later, the whole process repeats itself, and everybody acts like the newest, latest proposals have never been tried before. Talk about short-attention span theatre. Don't expect any of this to change. Which is all why I've decided to vote Republican from now on. Democratic leaders have failed teachers in California. I know we're a blue state so, relatively, my vote doesn't really matter. But I find Democratic policies towards public education to be beyond disgusting, and they're definitely not getting my support. Teachers and non-teachers alike, what do you think? Curious if it's just me who feels this way.

2023.06.10 21:30 Nekyn_Alb Lies of P Demo: Gameplay and Style Review (just a whole lot of spoilers, be warned)
Style and Narrative
The game looks excellent, from small clutter to massive building fronts. Every street corner is packed with traces of human life ripped apart by the puppet uprising without being stuffed, floating furniture or badly aligned windows are rare, although they do exist here and there. That's completely fine, it happens in every game and often more obviously than here.
Areas are interconnected nicely, although not particularly complex so far. Being able to climb to another level here and there and not dying for jumping off a low roof is good fun.
The hub is not too large, has a lovely atmosphere, and you can see from the stargazer teleport which (additional?) NPCs are in it. Being able to groove with sad tunes is a great design choice. When talking to NPCs however, I have to ask: why can't I talk to them from any direction and why do they take such long pauses between their lines when every other readable prompt disappears two seconds too early?
Favorite NPC confirmed already. In many aspects, I find the game too derivative of Bloodborne. Blatantly so, to be honest. Stalkers are hunters, puppets are beasts, both appear to be bereft of humanity. Workshops are workshops, Sophia is a firekeeper (with standard greeting!), the petrification disease stands in for a beast plague driving victims mad, the aesthetic and layout of the city is vaguely adjacent to Yharnam--not gothic of course, but bridges and plazas and carriages and boxes are all so strongly reminiscent that I sometimes felt like recognizing Cleric Beast's bridge, Gascoigne's summoning spot or Arianna's alley. Ergo and otherworldly materials will probably develop into an alien influence adjacent to BB's Great Ones and the arcane cosmic.
But don't fret, the original story elements possess some intrigue of their own. Next to the mystery of maddened puppets, it appears we will come across fairy-like influences that explain the origin of Geppetto's automaton vision, which has been wiped from at least two puppets' minds.
The petrification disease could also be interesting. I am not sure if it comes from the puppets yet, maybe an influence of their ergo, but having more cause of chaos than brutal mayhem is always good.
I always love me a good critique of large companies, so the different depictions of how they influence Krat's life on the large and small scale are welcomed. Soulslikes tend to struggle to put meaning behind their copies, but here I can already posit theories, like the struggle representing P's drive to gain a speck of humanity.
Hooray for making the dingy Daedalians blow up, boo for implying that Venigni is going to be a rad wheel-spinning robogrinder instead of the greedy loser he is meant to be. Knowing the genre, he's probably going to end up mad anyways though.
P should be voiced. No reason not to, really. He is a character with development, not a blank slate. FromSoft allowed Sekiro to speak, you don't have to cling to other titles' concepts.
Gameplay
So you don't think I'm *just* salty, here's my Souls Cred (I'm a bit proud of these, fight me): Finished DS1, DS3, BB, Sekiro & Elden Ring, the middle three several times, and recently beat DS3+Ashes at SL1. I gave up on my BL4 and No Beads Runs halfway through because I hate getting one-shot.
On my first playthrough, I beat every (and I mean every) ER boss bar five in less than 10 tries. I like these games a lot and would like to believe that I know what I'm talking about.
Let's start with the compliments!
Enemies appear in plentiful sizes and shapes with interesting models and varied move sets. Regular puppets have a fun amount of health and deal dangerous but not overwhelming damage.
P's quickly unlocked weapons are equally versatile, even if they only seem to have two light/heavy attacks each. For the most part, they feel appropriately weighty and I never noticed a swing being too fast or slow. Reassembling weapon parts can be strange because the handle determines the moveset, so a blunt mace head might adopt a rapier's quick stabs. Funny enough to not be off-putting.
P himself moves adequately well. He doesn't slip too easily from the thin catwalks bridging Krat's roofs and turns quickly. Same for the camera, this is the first game in a while where I didn't crank the sensitivity up to 8.
Dogs don't teleport. Good dogs.
I skimmed most of the tutorials because they are just Souls mechanics, but they do a fine job of explaining the basics. Being able to see that you have enough ergo by the number becoming blue is a wonderful idea.
The skills seem to be fairly extensive and might allow for a solid build once you get far enough. They should be unlocked earlier though.
There is a rewarding amount of items strewn throughout the world and even the frequent sawtooth cog drops feel nice. It's cool to have something to trigger traps with from afar!
Dropping ergo in front of the boss room is very kind and a good conclusion when you hand the player infinite homeward bones with the watch.
I like the pulse cell regain through attacking. Could go a bit faster though, you don't have that many to begin with.
I've seen this arrangement somewhere before and I don't know where :( And now we get to the detailed negatives, much of which comes down to the ever-maligned frame data.
Parrying needs a few more frames. Maybe guard should linger on its own instead of being spammable. Since they basically do not have to recover after a parry, slower weapons get one hit in, then they strike again and hyper armor through anything, even charged heavy attacks. This does not feel good by being unresponsive to player actions. Where's my reward for nailing three perfect parries in a row? And why do I sometimes take damage after I get the SUCCESS vibration and ping? Even red attacks shouldn't knock me down and punish me for perfect parrying.
Perhaps there should also be an indicator like Sekiro's red kanji, whose fading tells you when to act. The red sparks only tell you that a special attack is coming sometime in the next five seconds. Subverting Sekiro's kanji into not being able to *dodge* the red attack is also an odd choice, since you can dodge it with proper spacing. Without mikiri counter or jumps it only leaves parrying, and again, odd choice. The game didn't need this feature, considering...
Dodge has no travel distance and struggles to actually *dodge*. I am fine with limited iframes, but if I can't move out of an enemies range with two dodges, I question why I even have the ability.
Another factor for the insufficient dodge is how little Capacity improves your carry weight. If I want to stay under 29% for a somewhat acceptable dodge, I can't use a club AND armor pieces. The legion arm was thrown right out because of how heavy it is.
Strongly delayed attacks a la Elden Ring are just annoying. Malfunctioning puppets have an actual reason for doing it, but it's not natural. You have to memorize attack patterns instead of reacting to them. Waiting three seconds for an attack to come down in an instant feels weird.
The waiting game makes for a lackluster combination of Bloodborne and Sekiro. There need to be larger windows between attacks for heavy weapons and less recovery after striking back.
The weapon durability system isn't very appealing to me. The game moves too fast for this tactical element, which would work better in something paced like earlier Souls titles. Bouncing off the opponent with everything, including weapon arts, is *bad*. That's not how durability works or should be represented. Just make me deal less damage instead of stealing my turn for surviving until the end of the fight. You also forget about it because the areas are too short for your weapon to degrade noticeably.
Take a closer look at that snout! The stronger watchmen feel like they have too much health (I was level 30 with a balanced build + rapier at the end). Not a lot too much, but their resistance could be lowered for more enjoyable mini bosses inbetween areas of enemies.
Dummy traps could last about 1.5 seconds less.
Why do you only get rally on chip damage? There is no lore reason like in Bloodborne, and I doubt there could be any that would make sense for it to be restricted to blocked attacks. Enemies (bosses!) should not have access to rally, period.
Enemies feel like they have block or jagged models/boxes that won't let me pass. When P collides with them, they stick instead of sliding past each other, which often meant that I was stuck right in the enemy's weapon arm. This is particularly obnoxious with long-limbed bosses, who will just trap me with their left arm and attack with the right. Because of the long dodge recovery, I can't adjust after this happens either.
Why are there six enemies with what appears to be instant parry next to each other? Give that to one or two in a group, otherwise you'll be ganked (completely fine) and an attempt to strike back after parrying one enemy will be punished.
Watchman Paarl leaves shock traps that sometimes hit you as soon as you get up, making it an unnecessary double punishment. He also has two very fast attacks with barely any windup that are inconsistent with his regular attack speed (and another fast one that winds up for about 2.5 seconds). Since all his strikes are either right-left windup while crouching or standing, they and the grab are difficult to distinguish.
Since all his larger attacks place him right on top of you (slams and Sonic slam), he can just combo any attack from there and hits. The grab often caught me because of our models sticking together when I tried to dodge after such a slam or a shock trap. The grab also reaches too far and has unintuitive windup-followup, which messes with dodge timings too hard for an early enemy.
Speaking of shock traps, the radial burst with random lightning bolts surrounded by a ring of lightning doesn't feel fair. Where am I supposed to dodge with my half-inch frolicking steps? Run startup is too long to flee, what fires first is hard to foresee. And when he decides to do another Paarl burst right after, which doesn't have the appropriate charge before blowing up, you've just eaten three to five attacks without seeing any of them.
I enjoyed my time a lot, some improvements and this'll be great! submitted by

2023.06.10 21:20 growapairdude Miata NA 91' - temperature climbing after 30 mins on highway, a little bit over the middle/just under 3/4 of the gauge (around 210F)
Hi,
My Miata NA 91' is overheating when driving a while on the highway.
Before it was climbing until the very end of the gauge, now after replacing the water pump, thermostat and radiator it goes just under 3/4 of the temp gauge
Whta else could be the cause, and is this damaging the car? Or maybe this is normal behaviour? Cheers

2023.06.10 21:18 Glittering-Celery125 Dream Balance Patch - A Grandmasters Point of View
Hey y’all
I’ve been a GM player for the majority of Overwatch and have been pretty annoyed with the recent balance the team has put out. I’ve wanted to try to create a balance patch of my own for a while now but haven’t gotten around to it until last week.
These balance changes are based on community feedback mixed with personal opinion while catering to every rank and I’ll be giving detail about the reasoning behind each change.

2023.06.10 21:15 warrior8988 Kings of America Timeline: Lore
| Articles of Confederation The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union was the first constitution of the United States. The document was drafted by a committee appointed by the Second Continental Congress in mid-June of 1777 and was adopted by the full Congress in mid-November of that year. Ratification by the 13 colonies took more than three years and was completed on March 1, 1781. The Articles gave little power to the central government. While the Confederation Congress had some decision-making abilities, it lacked enforcement powers. The implementation of most decisions, including amendments to the Articles, required legislative approval by all 13 of the newly-formed state. The chief problem was, in the words of George Washington, "no money." The Confederated Congress could print money but it was worthless, and while the Congress could borrow money, it could not pay it back. On February 21, 1787, the Confederation Congress called a convention of state delegates in Philadelphia to propose revisions to the Articles Unlike earlier attempts, the convention was not meant for new laws or piecemeal alterations, but for the "sole and express purpose of revising the Articles of Confederation." The convention was not limited to commerce; rather, it was intended to "render the federal constitution adequate to the exigencies of government and the preservation of the Union." The proposal might take effect when approved by Congress and the states. The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union The Constitutional Convention As the Articles of Confederation continued in its ineffective form and states continued to blatantly disregard the debt-ridden federal government, everyone involved knew it was time for a change. So it was, on May 14, 1787, that the states came together to draft a new constitution. While at first only the Virginian and Pennsylvanian delegates arrived, by May 25th a quorum of twelve states arrived, with 3 delegates from each state, and the deliberations began. A general consensus existed that the federal government’s powers should be strengthened, although there was little else in common. There were two main factions, the Virginia Plan, led by Virginian Delegate James Madison, and the New Jersey Plan, led by New York Delegate, Alexander Hamilton. The Virginia Plan The Virginia Plan proposed that the legislative department be a bicameral body with votes in both chambers being assigned to each state based on population. Generally favoring the most highly populated states, it relied on the consent of the governed, divided government, and supported strong civil liberties. It also proposed for a president to only be serving for a limited amount of time and hold a much smaller position of importance compared to other sovereigns, needing support from the legislative branch every step of the way. James Madison, Leader of the Virginia Plan The New Jersey Plan The New Jersey Plan proposed that the legislative department be a unicameral body with one vote per state. Generally favoring the less-populous states, it used the philosophy of English Whigs to rely on the received procedures and to emphasize the sovereignty of the legislature. The New Jersey Plan also supported Alexander Hamilton’s view that there should be a “president for life”, a sort of elected monarch presiding over the executive branch of government, who would, unlike European monarchs have checks and balances, and be subject to be impeached from office. Alexander Hamilton, Leader of the New Jersey Plan Committee of Twelve A Committee of Twelve met from June 2 to 27, with one delegate from each state (except for Rhode Island) of the proposed union to work out a compromise on the issue of the constitution, between the Virginian and New Jersey Plan. At first, the committee was unable to compromise on anything, with it remaining deadlocked. However, the first breakthrough came on June 23rd, when all delegates agreed to the Connecticut Compromise, proposing proportional representation for seats in the House of Representatives based on population (with the people voting for representatives), and equal representation for each State in the Senate (with each state's legislators generally choosing their respective senators). Both houses would form the American Congress. With the deadlock broken, the delegates were able to agree to another compromise concerning the executive branch, the Philadelphia Compromise, proposing that the executive branch be divided into two main offices, the office of the monarch and the prime minister. The Monarch would be selected by the people every time the previous monarch dies or is impeached, and the Prime minister would be elected by the people every 4 years. The Monarch would still be subject to many checks and balances, requiring a majority in the House and Senate to go ahead with any bills, whereas the Prime Minister would be the Speaker in both Houses and would cast tiebreaking votes where necessary. On July 29, a Committee of Detail was elected to draft a detailed constitution reflective of the resolutions passed by the convention up to that point. The Convention recessed from July 29 to August 9 to await the report of this "Committee of Detail." Overall, the report of the committee conformed to the resolutions adopted by the convention, adding some elements. A twenty-three-article (plus preamble) constitution was presented. From August 9 to September 10, the report of the Committee of Detail was discussed, section by section and clause by clause by the Committee of Twelve. Details were attended to, and further compromises were effected. Toward the close of these discussions, on September 8, a Committee of Style and Arrangement was appointed to distill a final draft constitution from the 23 approved articles. The final draft, presented to the convention on September 12, contained seven articles, a preamble, and a closing endorsement. The United States Constitution The Ratification by States When the Constitution was finally finished and signed, it was submitted to the Congress of Confederation, currently in New York and each individual state for ratification. In the Congress of Confederation, each member was fed up and had enough of the Articles of Confederation that had existed for so long. However, many were staunchly against the idea of having a monarch. However, the proposal was barely able to attain a 2/3rd majority, and the Constitution was then passed on to individual state legislatures to pass. Under the process outlined in Article VII of the proposed Constitution, the state legislatures were tasked with organizing "Federal Conventions" to ratify the document. This process ignored the amendment provision of the Articles of Confederation which required unanimous approval of all the states. Instead, Article VII called for ratification by just nine of the 13 states. a two-thirds majority. Signing of the Constitution of the United States As the states came together, two factions soon emerged, one supporting the Constitution, the Monarchists, and the other opposing it, the so-called Anti-Monarchists or Democratic-Republicans. Over the ensuing months, the proposal was debated, criticized, and expounded upon clause by clause. Before year's end, three state legislatures voted in favor of ratification. Delaware was first, voting unanimously; Pennsylvania second; and New Jersey third, also recording a unanimous vote. As 1788 began, Connecticut and Georgia followed Delaware's lead with almost unanimous votes, but the outcome became less certain as leaders in key states such as Virginia, New York, and Massachusetts expressed concerns over the idea of a “monarch” and the lack of protection for people’s rights. James Madison, a chief architect of the constitution and leader of the Virginian Plan called out the constitution for being an extension of the previous British monarchy. Madison interpreted Hamilton's proposal as claiming power for the "rich and well-born". He also believed Hamilton and by extension the constitution to be based on the English model of government and not the real will of the people. With defeats all around, it seemed impossible for the new constitution to pass. However, in the summer of 1788, the South Carolina legislature, one that had been deadlocked since the introduction of the constitution, successfully passed it in a narrow vote, largely due to the support of its governor, Charles Pickney. The passage in South Carolina pushed newfound confidence in other states to ratify the Constitution. In rapid succession, Georgia and New Hampshire ratified it mere days after the successful ratification in Virginia, leading to the necessary nine states to ratify being accomplished. Three months later, on September 17, the Congress adopted the Constitution as the law of the land. It then passed resolutions setting dates for choosing the first senators and representatives, the first Wednesday of January (January 7, 1789); electing the first prime minister and monarch, the first Wednesday of February (February 4); and officially starting the new government, the first Wednesday of March (March 4), when the first Congress would convene. As its final act, the Congress of Confederation agreed to purchase 10 square miles from Maryland and Virginia for establishing a permanent capital. 2023.06.10 20:58 Flashfall Sharing some thoughts before the sub goes dark
Since this sub and some
4000+ others are going dark in 2 days in protest of probably
this site's stupidest decision ever, I figure this is probably the last time I'll get to share my pointless thoughts on this game here, so may as well. It doesn't really matter anymore if it's full of awful takes and people just downvote and insult me in the comments, it's been a grand time and I'll miss seeing posts and having discussions over this dEaD gAmE.
Construction
- Starting off strong, construction was a mistake. While it did have potential and had some cool moments, it was ultimately a distraction from the parts of the game that most of the playerbase actually interacted with. Even now with the latest updates to it, I feel like it's still a waste of time and effort on the devs' part and I'd have preferred if that time went into something like improving existing base designs instead.
Base/Map Design
- Speaking of base design, where the hell are those shielded garages outside of Oshur and containment sites? Such a small thing would have gone a long way towards improving fight longevity and yet it just never happened.
- Containment sites themselves are a mixed bag of design as well. Ultimately you're trying to funnel players into three long hallways with 2 areas for them to spawn/approach from, the defender lower spawns and the attacker lower spawns or the buses parked just above. Because everyone's funneled like this, the pop ends up highly concentrated in one hallway or the other in a sort of "wave" pattern and people usually won't spread out aside from a handful of folks sitting on point to prevent ghost flips. I'd have liked to see more ways for attackers and defenders alike to get in and out of the lower levels, make use of the base's design to add more verticality to the action and break up the very predictable movement.
- Oshur is just a tremendous waste of potential in terms of design as well. The water and boats are just utterly squandered for some reason, despite the whole continent being designed for them. Why are the islands almost entirely cliffs that make it impossible for boats to actually engage? Where are the docks, the coves, rivers, straits, channels cutting through bases? Boats should be the centerpoint of logistics in Oshur, instead of just the most convenient means of capturing points that are just floating in the middle of the ocean with some ruins underneath.
- Underwater combat could have been interesting as an addition to regular combat, but when you try to limit it to being its own thing by making the only bases with underwater points, ENTIRELY UNDERWATER, you just end up with slower gimped combat. Why the hell don't island bases have sections that go down to the water, and have flooded areas? It's not like you didn't get to see what that might have been like, you flooded Indar in test and that was pretty neat.
Vehicles
- Vehicle play has been neglected. I'm not talking about nerfs or CAI, I'm talking about just making them a more integral part of the game. There are not enough vehicles for vehicle play and vehicle vs vehicle combat to stand out because vehicles largely lack purpose. When I get to a base to contest and I don't have a sundy, I ditch the vehicle because I can contribute more on my feet than I can in my vehicle. Unless the friendly sundies die, I don't really have much of an impetus to bring another vehicle. I also don't want to bring a vehicle from the neighboring base just to kill enemy vehicles that might be farming infantry because a) those enemy vehicles aren't really contributing to the cap, and b) my vehicle won't either. GIVE PEOPLE A REASON TO WANT TO PULL VEHICLES MORE OFTEN AND YOU WILL SEE MORE VEHICLES FIGHTING EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF JUST FARMING INFANTRY.
- As for what might motivate people to do that, here's an idea - take the existing CTF concept, and apply it to vehicles, but instead of all the finicky flag counts and resetting, just shift the base timer every time a flag is delivered. Place the flag and delivery points on the edges of the base where infantry can have some influence but are at a notable disadvantage to vehicles. This makes it so that vehicles can significantly supplement a base cap but aren't mandatory, and they have to move around instead of just sitting still. This can apply to air units as well at bases that have landing pads, and maybe we'd see more amateur pilots and have a healthier airgame.
- I also believe we can improve the vehicle logistics game by adding a new option to the defense slot of transports (valk, sundy, gal, ant?) which enables players within a certain radius of the vehicle to spawn directly into it, but with a longer timer (like 10 seconds longer than a parked bus). This does not make logistics specialist implant obsolete, as that can still work for non-transports, and also does not require sacrificing the defense slot. It also offers no benefit for squadplay, as squadmates can already spawn directly into squad transports. However, it should be a boon for solo players offering logistics or trying to catch a ride. Air transports hovering above bases to act as air spawns can also make for juicy targets for pilots, so there's another thing to encourage more vehicle and air play.
- Suppose I should go over vehicle balance briefly too, though that's less important than the above points IMO. We're going to focus one two key ideas here: no long-range imprecise AI, and more focus on armor vs armor.
- For that first idea, the outright removal of HESH. It's been used as makeshift artillery for its entire existence, even when it was HE. Rocket pods, Dusters, and AI noseguns should have a significant increase in spread to drastically decrease their effectiveness at distance. Shorter range explosive weapons like Bulldog get a pass because their range makes them easier to retaliate against (assuming you have the means to do so), and non-explosive AI like Kobalts are fine.
- For the second idea, an increase in mobility and weapon velocities across the board, as well as new main cannons to replace HESH because there's so few of those and they're still severely lacking in variety. With faster vehicles and more accurate weapons, we want to encourage people to be attacking on the move rather than hunkering down in place and slowly feeling out the right altitude for their shots. As for the MBT cannon replacements, here is a suggestion for each (not NSO you're fine) focused on ease of use over DPS:
- NC gets a guided shell with the same damage profile as HEAT but the reload speed and velocity of AP. Shell is laser guided so it'll adjust towards the cursor, rather than camera-guided like the Phoenix rocket, which is kind of awkward to use and probably impossible to control at this velocity.
- TR gets a 60mm autocannon with a 8 round mag and low spread/bloom per shot. Imagine a weaker, long-range version of the Viper intended for an accurate, sustained barrage of fire.
- VS gets a proper laser repeater. 400 RPM or something stupid like that, piss for damage to offset the ROF, low COF because it's bloody lasers. This thing should be doing strafing runs on other tanks, or firing at aircraft and making a hell of a lightshow. Laser brrrrrrrrrt.
Infantry
- Infiltrator cloak should be a separate device you need to equip and activate to use. In that same slot is a new gadget, the nanite disruptor. Think the dildar, but instead of spotting enemies moving through, it slowly drains the shields and energy of enemies in its area, and also clears spots. For all the folks that don't abuse cloak, the cloak change won't be too bad. For the folks that decide they'd rather not cloak at all anymore, have a new and useful gadget.
- Heavies are mostly fine right now. The other classes have enough tools at their disposal now to offset the overshield's strength IMO. It really does just come down to getting good at clicking heads at this point.
- AMRs seem to be a point of contention, and I get people not being particularly happy about engineers getting BASRs, even if they aren't great at anti-infantry stats wise. To offset this, why not try a different approach - make them hipfire only ala MCG/Thumper, lower the HS mult to 1.5x, and raise the base damage so most of them (3 for DAGR since it's a quick boi) can kill infantry with 2 bodyshots but not 1 headshot. A rifle of that caliber would be hard as hell to shoulder and fire accurately anyway. Now it's a worse slug pump shotgun instead of a worse bolt-action.
- MAXes have already seen their share of nerfs, but I'd still like to see them be shifted more towards a support role over an offensive one. Remove all the AI options from the right arm and add a special grenade launcher in its stead that can fire the class-specific grenades of the Punisher SMG. Cure nades, repair nades, havoc nades, etc. It's a big hit to its infantry offensive capability but adds a LOT of utility already, and you can probably keep yourself alive a lot longer if you just spam repair nades at your feet lol.
- Revive grenades are too strong and spammy. I'd just limit the max amount you can carry to 2, even with grenade bandolier.
Monetization
- Let's face it, RPG/DBG is not good at monetizing this game. Yeah there's the bundles which whales and diehards will buy, but even those are becoming less attractive year after year. This is only a baseless assumption, but I'd guess that membership is what generates most of the revenue from this game. 10-15 bucks a month is a hefty subscription cost, and that's mostly just to skip queues. If the membership was for Planetside alone and not everything in DBG's roster, it'd be really damn hard to justify charging those prices.
- The Depot just doesn't get enough updates. It's stale. Now and then a fantastic modeller like d0ku or steve will pull through and give us some gorgeous cosmetics like the new armor sets or the sunderer armadillo skin (my beloved), but that's too few and far between.
- It feels like this game attempted to make its own version of a season/battle pass with the campaigns, which were interesting, but the implementation of the missions for them had major flaws and it was also too quick and easy to complete when other players weren't purposely making the missions impossible to do. If campaign progression was tied more to faction/community-wide milestones that could be reached through regular gameplay, like x bases captured or x resources gathered, it would be less of a pain in the ass and still be a special event that motivated people to play more. I think something like this could work well for this game, and to monetize it in a non-predatory way you could lock some cosmetic items in the campaign currency shop to season pass owners or members only.

2023.06.10 20:46 Boggerson [FNV] Tale of Two Wastelands crashing on fast travel to Rivet City
To Start off, I have had a few problems with crashing, but none were as consistent as this. I am in Paradise Falls trying to fast travel to Rivet City, and I have disabled each of my graphics mods 10 at a time with no success at stopping the crashing. My mod list and load order are below. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

2023.06.10 20:45 MassiveScreens02 [M, 21, 5’8”, 180lbs] Converting from 2 leg days to 1 leg day. Can you help me pick which exercises to keep and remove? Is it okay to only have 1 leg day?
Here’s the pool of workouts I am choosing from for leg day. I wanna end up with 6 or 7 in the end. So, I need to remove 2 or 3 workouts but I’m not sure which to remove.
- Squats (smith machine) [5 sets, 5 reps] [180lbs]
- Walking DB Lunges [3 sets, 10 reps] [50lbs DBs in each hand]
- Goblet Squats [4 sets, 10 reps] [one 60lbs DB]
- RDLs with DBs [3 sets, 10 reps] [50lbs DBs in each hand]
- Hip thrusts [3 sets, 12 reps] [210lbs]
- Leg press [4 sets, 16 reps (8 reps narrow, 8 reps wide)] [320lbs]
- Calf Raises [4 sets, 10 reps] [195lbs]
- Hamstring curl [3 sets, 15-20 reps] [100lbs]
- Leg extension [3 sets, 15 reps]
The workouts I hate doing are
smith machine squats and
walking DB lunges because I struggle with them and they are rarely enjoyable.
However, I don’t want to cut workouts that are hitting specific muscles if other workouts are not hitting those muscle groups. What workout(s) should I remove from leg day so that I am still hitting all the muscles? What workouts should I not remove?
Also, do you think it’s okay to have 1 leg day in a 4 day workout plan? My other days are: Shoulders, Back and chest, and Biceps and Triceps. I was doing two leg days (and it used to be a 5 day plan due to 2 leg days) but I already removed a bunch of leg workouts I dislike so that I can make leg day one day a week.
Is that okay to have one leg day a week? I get a lot of compliments on my legs so I know I do the workouts right but I never used to do two leg days until a few weeks ago when my cousin (who is a fitness coach) gave me these new workouts. I absolutely hated some of the leg workouts, which is why I wanted to remove a lot of them and go back to 1 leg day a week. I already removed a bunch of leg workouts before I posted the 9 workouts that I show here.
