2023.06.08 16:23 shakyband Ada compliance in the work place

So this is a multi part issue. Since Covid I have been taking my breaks and lunches in a separate room for safety. First there was a “employee library” that then was converted to a nursing mothers room, and even though there are no nursing mothers I was no longer allowed to use that space. That’s fine, there was another room I could use. Now here’s the tricky part. For some reason the Hr lead at my work hates me and goes out of her way to make things harder for me. She went so far as to threaten to put a lock on the door of the room I take lunch in to keep me out. The reasoning being that they “need the space to work” which is just not true. She said I could go outside instead, which I can’t do because I can’t tolerate heat due to medications. My store manager overruled her and allowed me to continue. The room I was using connects to the breakroom via a folding wall. This wall has been closed for the many years I’ve been working here. Yesterday (days after my manager stated I was allowed to use the space for breaks) they decided that they were going to open the wall and expand the breakroom permanently.the HR lead is out today but I spoke to the other hr person. I asked if there was an alternative space I could use, she simply said “no”. I explained it’s for my health and well being not just because, and she told me that the lead said I need a doctors note. The main reason for me is that I have a pretty severe anxiety disorder that Covid really exacerbated. I’m very concerned about long Covid etc. having a space where I can be by myself greatly reduces my stress levels.
Now I could get a doctors note, the problem is that I am not comfortable disclosing my medical information to HR. if I do I know she will not keep my information private and everyone in my workplace will end up knowing. I really don’t want that. I know if she did disclose it I could take legal action, but that wouldn’t change the fact that my coworkers would know the information.
So I have two questions
1.is this an accommodation that actually requires a doctors note 2.does the doctors note have to actually state what I need the accommodation for or can I get a note stating that I need it without specifying the issue.

2023.06.08 16:21 Ilovepigstoomuch Gedatsu is a Yonko+ level and possibly the strongest being in the verse, With evidence.

Gedatsu is a Yonko+ level and possibly the strongest being in the verse, With evidence.

Gedatsus first appearance
Gedatsu is a (seemingly) minor antagonist of the Skypeia arc, being an apparent comedic relief opponent for Chopper to face in a one-on-one fight. While the fight itself may seem unremarkable to most it, along with his post-fight cover story arc, reveals a being that has feats of such great magnitude that they surpass even that of the mightiest pirates such as Kaido. Please do read if you wish to uncover the truth behind the most powerful character to ever live.
Exhibit A) use of jet dials
In this panel Gedatsu shows that his main form of attack involves the use of jet dials, both for flight and 'enhanced' punches. However what is really happening here is that Gedatsu is using the jet dials to cover up his true strength by making them do all the punching work while he simply sits back and activates them. This along with his supposed extreme stupidity is what led to his defeat.
However after being hit by Chopper with a well placed attack he is not actually defeated but is merely knocked into the clouds. He does not even appear to be badly injured afterwards and therefore it can be assumed that he most definitely could have continued, which will have ultimately led to Choppers demise. It is then worth mentioning that he has never actually been defeated in combat.

Exhibit B) Mercy
Gedatsu, instead of rising up and finishing the job, felt that he must leave the battlefield as he knew it was the perfect opportunity to get away from Enel and his abuse of the Gedatsu observation haki. At this point Gedatsu plummets over 10 kilometres to the ground, and most would assume to his death. However this is where he begins to show his true power.

Exhibit C) Surviving the fall
Gedatsu had fallen 10 kilometres straight down into hard ground HEADFIRST but somehow had survived with ease and only one chapter later was seen in his next cover story out of the ground seemingly fine
He is not bothered
As you can see here he has indeed ended up with a large bump on his head, however clearly this is superficial and ignorable damage as Gedatsu does not even attempt to tend to his wounds and simply sits in awe at the magnitude of this feat.
Take a direct comparision with Kaido. Kaidos introduction showcased him falling off a sky island straight down headfirst into the ground. Sound familiar?

Exhibit D) Kaidos reaction to the fall
The sky island that Kaido fell from was around 9 kilometres above ground, which even if somewhat close is still not the same height from which Gedatsu fell. Given his wider frame and larger size he may have also not fallen as quickly as Gedatsu even if both reached terminal velocity. As you can see in this panel however Kaido commented on having a splitting headache AND was tending to his head injury. Whatever visible injury he may have had is obscured by a silhouette however this clearly shows that the fall injured Kaido to a higher degree than Gedatsu.
Given that Kaido is considered to be one of if not possibly the most durable character in the series this feat by Gedatsu automatically puts his durability at the absolute PINACCLE of power in the One Piece verse. However while many people have commented on this feat before I will now go further.

Exhibit E) Exponential growth in power and gravity manipulation.
Here you can observe Gedatsu hitting the ground with a pickaxe and seemingly doing an unremarkable job. This is very much true however this leads into a cover story in later chapter which withholds one of the most shocking feats of power and reality manipulation witnessed in the One Piece verse.

Bending of a pickaxe and gravity manipulation
Oda does not do things without reason and defying the very physics which holds the earth together cannot have been done merely for a gag. Here it is clearly shown that Gedatsu is again hitting the ground with a pickaxe but now two new things are happening: A) The pickaxe has been bent out of shape in just one clean hit and B) Gedatsu is standing on a wall. The pickaxe needs quite a large deep dive so it would be better to cover the gravity manipulation first. This feat speaks for itself and highly suggests that Gedatsu either secretly has a gravity manipulating devil fruit or actually is just capable of manipulating his local reality. It cannot be a localised gravity anomaly given that the man next to him is unaffected so therefore this is the work of Gedatsu and highly backs up the claim that he can manipulate reality to his given will. This would certainly place him at Yonko level and above.

The pickaxe feat required some further calculation as it is not a feat that can be gauged visually, however it is certainly the case that somehow Gedatsu swung the pickaxe at such a speed that the friction with the air partially melted the pickaxe and solidified it again in making contact with the air, thus deforming it to how it is in the panel. He would have had to manage this in a tiny amount of time and therefore I with an associate were able to deduce that he would have needed to exert around 100 million newtons of force at least to achieve this, assuming that he was using an average approximately 2.3kg pickaxe, which it may be even heavier considering its size equivalent to his height. By looking at his form as well it can be seen that this was done with only his arm strength in mind and likely with minimal effort given his completely straight arms and back. This is undeniably a feat that would contend even with the strongest of characters and it isn't even necessarily a gauge of his full power.

Exhibit F) Defeating the ground and forest bosses
Now this is a feat that has been unfortunately greatly understated by many onlookers, however these beasts are not just large animals but are representations of mother earth itself. They are not just 'a earth boss' or 'a forest boss' but they are THE earth boss and THE forest boss. This can be obviously interpreted as Gedatsu challenging even the guardians of earth and Gaia herself, showing his ability to challenge the gods and defeat their beasts, with only one punch each mind you.

Observe the dials
Of course you may take note of the fact that he has damaged his sleeves in both of these battles which means that he did indeed use his impact dials to defeat both beings. However you must keep in mind that for his whole life he has been using them to mask his own power, so at this point they are merely second nature for him to use. Given his stances after defeating both they were clearly considerable opponents worthy of challenging Godatsu.
While almost all evidence has been given there is still one more piece of the puzzle that completely destroys any sort of counterevidence that you may have:
Exhibit G) The height theory.
This will likely ring a bell for many fans of powerscaling, but the height theory states that when two characters rival one another it is always the taller who triumphs. In Zoro and Sanjis case Zoro is taller, and stronger. In Queen and Kings case King is taller, and stronger. In Mihawk and Shanks case Shanks is taller, and I will not comment on that because otherwise it will become the main point of discussion. In the Admirals case Akainu is taller than Aokiji, and stronger.
With all of that evidence in mind refer to this diagram, including the yonko Luffy and Enel himself. Gedatsu clearly TOWERS over both of them and any other character featured, clearly meaning that he is significantly stronger than all featured characters and is therefore at least yonko level based off of this alone. When combined with other evidence it makes it clear that Oda intended it to be this way.

With all of that evidence in mind it is obvious and to me and it should be obvious to anyone who has read through it that Gedatsu is easily the most powerful character in the current One Piece world and perhaps the strongest being to ever live in the planets history.

2023.06.08 16:19 D00zer /r/theavettbrothers will be going dark from June 12-14 in protest against Reddit's API changes which kill 3rd party apps

What's going on?
A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.
What's the plan?
On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?
  1. Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit : submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
  3. Boycott and spread the word... to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

2023.06.08 16:12 Fine-Loquat5942 32/UK/PC - New PC (7900 XTX + Ryzen 7800X3D) and getting the Quest 3 too. Let's go!

I'm an "ex"-hardcore gamer who really tries to just enjoy games more & have fun with it, which is honestly hard.. as I've been a hardcore competitive gamer for my entire life, so it's kind of hardcoded within me.
I really just want to have fun, laugh & enjoy myself now.
Potential Games (but not limited to, just some suggestions that I've thought about):
- Dead Island 2
- Wizard of Legend 2 (just announced)
- Ship of fools
- Apex Legends (Plat-Masters rank)
- Fortnite (Zero Build - Ranked, also be pretty good if this is the game)
- Sons of the Forest
- Ready Or Not
- Elden Ring
- Core Keeper
- Ravenswatch
- Any other co-op game that is good really
- Virtual Reality (VR), love it.. just need people to play with. (not really interested in VR-Chat though)
So basically most of the games mentioned above are games that I do not own, so if you don't either.. that's alright, we can pick out some and try. I do own more games than could be played in a lifetime, however.. only ones I currently care to play, are just single-player titles, so we'll see if we can find one we both have atm. (I do own Xbox Game Pass for PC too).
You (somewhat):
- Fluent in the language of English (I just wanted to say it that way, sounded fancy)
- +25 of age
- Chill, but wants to both play, have fun and go for the win too.
- That's that, send me your discord in chat or in a PM & I will add you sooner than later :)

2023.06.08 16:12 Meaning-Plenty The Final Landscape

An aging artist pontificates over the utility of his art in a place of perpetual war.
Under a month-long lockdown in Kashmir, the streets are deserted, the stone-throwing protesters are locked away in their homes, and winter is settling on the valley. In a dialogue with himself, an aging artist creates the illusion of company while he pontificates over the utility of his art in a place of perpetual war. The dialogue deepens as the artist’s mind digresses between legends and newspaper headlines, pondering the creative ways the people of Kashmir carve out freedom in the interstices of spaces that imprison them.
Originally published by Mountain Ink, the story explores the resistant possibility of art, imagines a moment of isolation, and subverts it in its execution
He was losing count of the days now. It was a month-old lockdown and the September sun had just begun to smile readily at the mountain peaks.
“What day is it today?” wishing to be ignored, he almost murmured.
It was Tuesday, September 2 in that year of warlike situation.
“Word has it that the taskmasters desire people to lose count of the days and sooner the better, for it would be less embarrassing to justify this forgetfulness.”
“No, no! For Heaven’s sake, no, don’t call that forgetfulness.”
“What else if not forgetfulness? I am already losing count of the days.”
“So what?”
“Fatigue has already entered my spine. My vision is becoming blurred. I am getting sick.”
There was nothing to act on. Sunlight already appeared growing weaker and the chill in the mornings and evenings had made humans return back into their skin, to remember that it was time for a change of the season. Yes, the summer sun has shifted its glance. There were no more vertical sun rays gazing at the deserted streets. This year stones were missing from the streets.
“Are the stones cleared away from the streets?”
“Where from? The streets that wind along the lake and disappear in the forest?”
“I don’t care where. You know what matters are the missing stones or more likely preemptive disappearance.”
“Indeed, what must matter is the absence of the stones.”
“Absence and disappearance are two distinct states, aren’t those? Artista, you are a free man who doesn’t have to risk anything for the arrival of his expectations. You, I know, are waiting for the leaves on some trees to fall and to turn crimson on many others. You do not have to pretend to be self-unconscious to the fatigue so you could feel the numbness of silence of whatever surrounds you. You are waiting for the stones to hurl into the air so you can clench the textures within your color palate. You rather wait for the sun to change its direction and that explains to me your indifference to the night sky to reveal the secrets of peace unto you. You count the hues that are embedded in the seasons to give directions to your thoughts and capture the moments of sadness.”
“I do not wait for the crimson to smear the streets for the emancipation though you understand me as a free person. I am no more a believer in dreams and I know that someday I shall leave forever to dream my great dream. Waiting for the great dream to come true or as you like to understand it, the arrival of my expectations, I am tied to that moment in time that shall comfort me from my bondage.”
There once lived a woman amidst erudite pandits who refused to die. In her youth, when she would rest down to eat after completing the daily chores nothing would take her by surprise then. She had realized that her wait to take the infinite inside was not far. She sang about the darkness that surrounded her only in the wilderness. She defined the void. She bore no children and marked in her verses the certainty to meet the infinite and pass on in peace from here unto there. Every night she washed the stone hidden underneath the crust of rice served in the bowl for dinner. She left behind the stone for the young.
**Hond maaran kina kath Lalli nalwut tsali na zanh*"
(Whether they killed a big sheep or a lamb it was all the same Lalla had always got a stone to eat).
“Bring me those diamonds bedecked in the sky. Rise to the sky and snatch not one but all those tiny stars in an entire vault that shield your land from anonymity.”
“I do not wish to wither away in void nor lose my way across the vast deserts. Journeys across would become not just difficult but impossible without those dimly-lit stars in the sky. Aren’t all landscapes grief-stricken? What would become of the landscapes if the horizons as well were measured and guarded?”
“You sound utterly eccentric to disregard the light of the day that guards us all. There is nothing to help you but to do away with this ridiculousness.”
“Death catches those young by the tail of the daylight. There is nothing solemn to bring oneself in loving the light. I have nothing left but my small indifference to offer. At least there is nothing doubtful about this smallness like many of those impressionist strokes, at chance, that create an illusion of ecstasy. I struggle to handle the landscape without striving for the exotica. Landscapes without humans cannot become a site for self-reflection.”
“Why don’t you paint the arrival?”
“There is no shade on my palate that could help me prophesize. It is impossible to paint that which doesn’t hold me. I cannot paint certainty.”
Nothing would be worse than a political discord that generations wriggle against and wither away with. There was a land of valleys up in the Himalayas believed to be of saints and demons. In “Abduction,” painted in the year 2005, a demon carries away a piece of a mountain — that led to a series “Whose Kashmir?” This strife is neither ahistorical nor sacred. Yet there are stories in the beginning when there was no time. The water that filled up the valley was emptied so the demon could be trapped and killed to end the conflict forever. Demon was driven away yet the water in the lake remained. Troops after troops were washed away ashore on the land. The journey through mountains in search of permanence and certitude continues
“Who owns the strength of character to resolve the strife?”
“Theories nurture cults. At times resolutions are created only to morph imagination into images that speak something beyond any resolution. Landscape is not a passive player. The harder it gets to paint, the easier it is to be consumed with nostalgia. To paint a landscape has become an agony.”
“Artista, you mix up everything to get confused. These are not days to stay confused leisurely.”
“Who has lost count of days? I, who is incapacitated, either to grieve the loss or to bear the burden of not feeling forgetfulness can’t be more astute, clear-sighted, and regimented than this. I live on that street in the city, which is openly exposed to the dogmatic gaze however isn’t threatened with what I do. I paint the banal and possibly could survive in the worst of the conditions, which is boredom. My remorse will anyway kill me soon. Yes, I mix. I mix colors to grasp the shade that discloses the anatomy of illusions.”
“Artista, is it you alone for whom illusions bespeak of truth or is it me who sees confusion not separate from illusions. Illusions lure you into believing that you can’t grieve over the loss and the disappearances. It’s been a while now that we are living in a state of deception and absolute vulgarity.”
“Well then, this is not the first time that the enforcer has tuned in to portray the nakedness of its presence vulgarly. Everything is equipped. How must one imagine a landscape bereft of fatigue figures marching up and down every day? Interestingly, the landscape has turned those prowlers significant for the game that was shaped, of late, seven decades before.”
“And do those prowlers know anything about the determination to choose for the self? Over the years, such will is invalidated. How then must we understand the desire to be emancipated? Have you got any map to look at, to paint a landscape?”
“When I was summoned to prove my being, oddly I forgot my address. I was numbered as an incorrigible reprobate. All efforts to paint a landscape were labeled as a ploy that possibly could threaten the syntax of the sovereign self. When I was executed, that bored wound was stamped as the void. And as I survived after throwing up the clot, my discharge from confinement was realized only after I agreed to sign an undertaking that I shall be a regular reporter of my case. It was called detoxicating progress. You see, the stamp out stink takes a lifetime to go.”
“Now that the autumn is approaching, you might pack up your color and brushes to paint the landscape of this wailing vale in all possible shades. I remember you painted landscapes earlier with much pleasure and ease.”
“I have lost the temperament to paint!”
“Don’t forget that your hallucinatory will could turn the upheaval inside you into spite.”

The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.

What can you do?

  1. Complain. Message the mods of reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  2. Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
  3. Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  4. Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. 2023.06.08 16:04 WRDKH Recommendations needed - 1500€ budget in europe

Hi all,
I am looking for a gaming/study notebook to replace my current desktop PC (RTX 3080, 5800X3D 32GB RAM). I would like to have something "similar" in performance.
My current plans are to use it to study (I'm able to load it) and to play Diablo IV, Elden Ring and upcoming games in at least 60FPS at 1440p on medium-high(er) settings. Because of the modern games, I would like to have 32GB of RAM (or 16GB if it can be replaced). I don't care about the resolution of the laptop as long as it's a decent panel.
My budget is around 1500€ but 1800€ max and I live in Europe/Germany. Our best source for laptops is probably "notbooksbilliger" (unfortunately they don't have an english site).
My thoughts were to get a "cheaper" laptop with an RTX 40 card to use DLSS3. Is thins a good idea?

2023.06.08 16:01 Tain87x An attempt at an underground guide

I have seen alot of people complaining about the UNDERGROUND ADAPTATION start and not being able to make it work. I'm going throw my two cent into the ring to help people out.
First things is you need to change your mind set, it doesn't have the aboundance of the over world. It's difficult and dangerous to explore. In the early game it might feel like your falling behind and it's too rng but look at any fantasy underground race be it dwarves, ratmen or any other, they always had a hard time getting started because there is evil things down there in the deep.
There are two main strategies for an underground game. The isolationist TURTLE or an overwelming TIDE:
TURTLE
This is for magic and Allied victories, easy clear the underground, lockdown the entrances and lead the occasional raid on the overworld to disrupt the other players.
TIDE
Literally just do what the Skaven do but with less of the in fighting and blowing themselves up. Take the underground, recon the the surface. Create allies of opportunity. When the moment is right surge up and take the overworld. Yes yes!
So how do we do this? It's simple accept cities will never be big, outposts are more important than ever and SPECIAL PROVINCE IMPROVEMENT are key to making your yeids great.
(Before we get started there is an in game bug where special provinces improvements and terraforming spells won't work on provinces with water or lava features. SO BE AWARE! Hopefully this will be fixed in future.)
So starting off we'll go through what is needed to make this work.
Faction creation: you are looking for things that help expansion and exploration. Try to stay away from things that are geared towards making vassals friends but end of the day it's your story and anything can be made to work. (GREAT BUILDERS is amazing on underground starts)
Let's start with exploration, the digging, lots and lots of digging. The underground will need a heavier investment in scouts than the overworld due to all the digging. The best way to go about it is to have 4+ scouts with different assignments:
Scout 1 & 2 are your diggers Scout 3 the road builder Scout 4+ exploration or culture gimmick (prospecting/ outposts/ astral echoes)
Start by clearing the dig spots in the main cavern your city starts. While they're doing this have your army kill all the mobs and shadow the scouts incase they dig too deep. It's best to get an auxiliary army of tier 1 or summons online as quickly as possible to back it up as some of the stacks that spawn can be a higher tier than yours. This auxiliary is expendable.
Once this is done try to find your racial free city as quickly as possible. When interacting with them it's best to absorb them quickly, as factions and free cities usually already occupie the larger caverns. This will also get your second hero and city online, remember to make an auxiliary army as well as a main army for the second hero. Split the second force plus scout 2 off and head in a different direction from the main force. Just continue on like this clearing wonders + caverns and keep adding heroes/armies as you go.
While you where doing this scout 3 will be building roads down every unearthed path way and connecting the cities/outposts. Scout 4+ will be doing its culture gimmick or exploring further ahead, locating the entrances and poping up to see what's above.
As each army clears & digs out a cavern build an outpost before moving on. Other players and free cities not of your culture that can't be vassalized quickly are to be conquered as they will hold the 10+ provinces caverns.
To fulfill this there are empire skills that are a must to unlock no matter your build.
BASIC SEAFARING
The underground has lots of waterways to help navigate it. These are usually quicker to travel than through the paths and can connect cut off areas.
ROAD BUILDING
The Rocky terrain of the underground can make it difficult to travel. Having a scout or a high movement Tier 1 solely dedicated to building a road network will pay off massively in the mid - late game.
TELEPORTER INFRASTRUCTURE (Or any tome that gives access to a teleporter)
This is key for the late - end game, having a teleporter on each city and vassal will help navigation. Try to have a teleporter close to every entrance to the overworld, or have an Outpost on the surface with one to help Reinforcements during the tide.
Next we move on to expansion, you are lookinging for caverns with 10+ provinces as key investments to settle. The trick is to not become attached to any of the settlements as you explore more of the underground and find or conquer better spots, it will be best to turn them into vassals but not before putting a TELEPORTER in their provinces. This will create a large teleporter network without costing you the upkeep.
In the late game all the outposts in the small Caves can be turned into vassals to give better tribute to your empire. Plus it will give a large boost to the rally of lieges, so you can create armies that can teleport to anywhere they're needed quickly.
The expansion can feel claustrophobic and you will never have cities as big as the surface but terraforming will help you make your cities efficient as possible.
TERRAFORMING SPELLS
It's not necessary but will help you out in managing and possibly expanding your cities. Some of the Terraforming spells can be cast on bedrock paths to change the terrain types and so your cities can expand into them. (Haven't had the chance to test them all)
NATURE - CREATE FOREST & RESTORE THE LAND ETC.
These are great for creating Fungus Fields & Mushroom Forest to help your cities have better yields. CREATE FOREST can also be used for making tunnels into expandable terrain.
EARTH SHATTER
This spell is probably the best underground spell. It can destroy stalactites that make it difficult to move and can be cast on the paths and change there feature to Rocky terrain. If you want a one city challenge or very large cities this is a must. (Note it will not destroy bedrock)
FLASH FREEZE (this is has not been fully tested, any input would be good)
This spell is only really useful if you are going a knowledge/mystic/dark/frosting build. The Arctic terrain can be used with special improvements to help increase knowledge and Mana.
Lastly I will go through economy, the underground is not rich in nodes or provinces to expand. You will have some terrain you can only build huts on. Why would you settle on such a barren place? Well there two parts to this, firstly is PRODUCTION!! Production is king down here, with limited growth spots, city buildings are more important than ever. Using the high production to pump these buildings out is a must. Also use imperium to make up for lack of growth as when the city can't expand food becames almost useless resource.
The second answer is SPECIAL PROVINCE IMPROVEMENT each one counts as a node or has an adjacency bonus as well that gives larger yeids. Creating clusters of these improvements along side the limited amount of RESOURCE NODES and WONDERS you can have access too specialize cities to have insane outputs. Granted it takes alot more planning and knowledge of the build you are going to make but it can change a meh city into a powerhouse. Also if you have no nodes, improvements or wonders to a create a cluster just put a special improvement on a barren province, it will give better yeids than a hut. After that it can become the start of a cluster.
Example: say you have a SECRET TEMPLE wonder close enough to a city and no mana node. Well it counts a conduit that gives bonuses to research posts in a city. Combined this with special provinces that count as research post & conduits next thing you know that city outputs a stupid amount of knowledge and Mana.
The best way to look at it is the cities become really tall and specialized. The production helps you build the city buildings and get the special province clusters online quicker. Combine this with a large amount of vassals paying tribute and your economy can out produce the surface dwellers.
The underground start is slow and trying to play like surface dwellers will cost you the game. This is why you have to think like a citizen of the deeps. Resources are limited but you have whole Map to conquer below your enemies feet. You have to plan and scheme, be willing to sacrifice and conquer. Then when the time comes surge up like an overwhelming tide or defend your schemes within your iron cage.
Good Luck everybody!! Have any other tips or builds for the underground or you just disagree please let me know.

2023.06.08 15:50 Moist-Implement-600 White knuckle thrill rides and smooth sailin'

First, I love this community.
Second, there's really no point to this. I just wanted to share since the girlfriend doesn't quite get it and my dogs have no idea what I'm talking about.
I bought this game because it looked like fun, was immediately overwhelmed, and went back to World of Warcraft. I started visiting this sub and watched some misadventures, checked out some amazing builds, and got a better feel for what to do beyond panicking over greydwarves.
Last week, I decided to establish a permanent base and got to planning. I made sure to add some components I saw commonly used in this sub. I found (on foot) a nice, relatively flat area in the meadows, near both a black forest and mountain biome (I know the mountains are far off but the scenery in the background will be amazing once i knock down some trees). Even better, I was a quick 15 second run to the ocean.
I returned to my prior base to load up the karve with the essentials and set sail to establish my new domain. To my absolute delight, I found the body of water near the new location was a large, natural harbor. Internally squeeling at the potential for a future project, I hop off and start unloading.
A small house goes up, some torches thrown around, I map out the potential I see for the future Fort Cowabunga. Too excited, I jump between clearing nearby forests for wood and digging a moat. The moat gets deep enough, relieved I had just enough wood to build stairs to get out (another lesson learned). I look at my progress. The ground isnt entirely flat. My moat isn't entirely even. Rocks and stumps surrounding the moat that will need to be cleared for a future road system. But it is mine, and I will farm it and I will protect it.
A new, 5x7 tile house goes up, fire place is almost in working order, the roof is 30% done and the forest starts moving, in the rain. I yank out my bow and watch as greydwarves and a brute slip into my moat, a great success. Cackling, I make it rain sweet sweet arrows, I feel untouchable. The raid ends, the sun comes out, and I build my fence, two bridges to the base with fancy double door entrances. Feeling accomplished without realizing the true success of the night.
Back to the ore grind, I zip over to the black forest. Boom, biggest copper vein I've ever seen. Even better, a burial chamber about 50 yards north. Clear the chamber like I'm evicting some squatters, I find the last 2 surtling cores I need to have a kiln AND smelter. More treasure, about 34 golden mushrooms.
Back to the copper, I get swinging. 34 ore in my pack and it's too much so I throw my first cart together. It eventually has about 53 copper and 8 tin ores in it. Thinking it's time to log, I start heading back and decide to load up on some core wood. As I'm chopping, a troll pokes his nose out at me and I decide to test the base.
I grab the cart and start kiting the big blue baby back home. I lost a single set of steps leading to a bridge at my main entrance as i kill my 3rd troll of my valheim career. Also ending what is now the most fruitful resource collecting excursion I have ever had, by a lot.
Kiln and smelter go up, get fully loaded and i pause for a good five to ten minutes, walking through my new impenetrable fortress. Just as I'm about to log off, I pick up some copper bars and walk to the chest near my forge. As it opens, I see the 3 queen bees I brought from the old base.
I close the game, turn off my PC, and look to the dog laying next to me. "Sullyboy!" I say, "pupaw's making mead soon!" Unimpressed, he saunters off to bed. I get in bed, everyone's asleep, and all I can think about is mead brewing while I build myself a dock in the days to come.

2023.06.08 15:48 Haru_is_here I want to work, but no one wants me.

Hey there! I could really use your opinions, so bear with me.
I'm 35 years old and was diagnosed with autism last year. After obtaining my bachelor's degree in philosophy, I hoped things would start falling into place job-wise. To be fully honest → I didn't think I would be alive this long, so I chose and did my Bachelors out of interest, not with my future in mind.
My lack of a practical degree and lack of social skills made it difficult to land a job. Instead, I found myself working internships poorly paid ones, that left me constantly exhausted. I pushed myself to the brink of burnout for several years, trying to prove that I could provide for myself. It's been a lifelong goal of mine, as I grew up impoverished. But despite my best efforts, I couldn't seem to hold on to permanent jobs for more than a few weeks or months or have my contracts extended after my internships were over. The employers felt I wasn't ready or suitable for the positions, unaware of my autism and ADHD.
Feeling defeated and on the edge, I made a crucial decision a few weeks ago: I am now reaching out to my government's disability services for support. It was a difficult step for me, as I hate feeling like a burden. But I have put my pride aside and seek help. While I await their response, I've been consumed by my obsession with researching education programs and career training options. I've spent an extensive amount of time trying to find a path that would lead me to a government-approved qualification within 2 to 3 years. However, this process has only caused me more anxiety, I don't have the money to make a mistake and try something and not finish it.
Moreover, I struggle with self-studying and acquiring career skills outside a structured classroom environment. I know there are e.g. coding projects and online resources that could help me gain skills, BUT THE OVERWHELMING NATURE OF THESE TASKS HOLDS ME BACK.
Instead of making tangible progress, I find myself stuck in a cycle of obsessive research, adding unnecessary stress to my life.
But here's the thing: I know I'm not unintelligent. I believe that with the right accommodations, I might – maybe – succeed. But perhaps I am just daydreaming. I envision having strong technical skills that outweigh any difficulties I may face due to my social differences – my ticket to finally achieving financial stability.
So, if you have any advice, insight, experience, or suggestions to offer, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

2023.06.08 15:45 bajanstep Should /r/Caribbean join the June 12th Reddit Blackout?

Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps this move by Reddit is the wrong way of addressing the shortcomings of its own apps and cuts off important functionality for communities:

Should we participate?

I felt that as a sub that is dedicated to activism, this is something a lot of you would be interested in. At the same time, we are still quite a small sub with not a lot of engagement, and so, to be blunt, it may not be worth the hassle on my part. Let me know what how you feel and what you think we should do.
If there is enough support for a blackout I will make another announcement on Sunday. But, say for example, there's are 2 votes yes out of a total of 3 votes, I don't feel like that is sufficient to warrant a blackout.
